Netflix released, well, not a ton but some data about viewership recently and I couldn't help but look up the performance of my fandoms. They released the top 18,214 titles based on hours watched from Jan to June 2023.
Ordered in terms of rank.
ATLA: Avatar the Last Airbender (Not available globally - what countries are missing? IDK)
Woot woot! Avatar in the house. 45.5M hours for book 1, giving it a rank of 342.
Book 3 has more views than book 2. I'm gonna credit that to Zuko.
Teen Wolf (Not available globally - what countries are missing? IDK)
The top season is season 3, oddly enough, with a rank of 361! It got 43.9M hours streamed. What are you all rewatching?
Season 1 is the third most watched.
Jurassic World (Not available globally - what countries are missing? IDK)
A healthy rank of 536 with 34M views.
Yu-Gi-Oh (Not available in the US)
Season one is ranked 1,843, with 11.4M hours watched in the first half of the year. Wow! That's impressive for such an old show.
Only 54% of people moved on to the second season. Sad😢
Season 5 had more views than Season 4 or 3. Stop torturing yourselves with rewatching the ceremonial duel, y'all. It's not healthy.
Carmen SanDiego
Season one saw 5.9M hours watched, giving it a rank of 3,133! Not bad for a show from 2019. (How does YGO out rank this? And how is this show more popular than She-Ra? She-Ra is better imo)
I'm impressed the Steal or Not to Steal interactive story did as well as it did. (1.3M hours). But I also know there were some good JuliaxCarmen scenes that 100% inspired fics.
She-Ra (available globally)
Season 1 is ranked 3,213 with 5.7M hours viewed.
People then went on to watch Seasons 5 and 4. We're all rewatching the angst bits, aren't we? Or maybe it's the redemption arc.
Least watched season? 3.
Voltron
Season one is ranked 4,140 with 3.9M hours watched.
Why is season 2 the only one not available globally? Odd. 62% of people go on to watch it after season 1 anyway.
Season 8 is not the least watched season, season 5 is. However, season 5 is totally the one I rewatched twice when it first came out.
Fullmetal Alchemist (movies are global, anime are not)
It is an absolute crime nothing here is ranked high. The highest is the movie, The Revenge of Scar, with a rank of 5,666. 2.2M hours watched.
Only season 1 for both the 03 anime and Brotherhood is available, but the 03 anime is winning. It had an extra 200K hours viewed.
All of the movies had a higher hour watch count than any of the anime seasons.
BBC Merlin | Doctor Who (no data)

Will you be leaving Tumblr?
Most likely.
From the looks of it, our data has already been compiled and will be handed over tomorrow (I don't have details, the article is locked behind an account creation pop-up) so there's little that can be done for what's already been posted.
I have very little faith that asking those giants to take out our data is going to lead anywhere. There is no obligation in the contract for them to do so.
And even if I were to opt-out, (if that's even going to work at all, remember how well "opting-out" of Tumblr Live worked?) do I really want to keep giving my engagement to a website that feels free to do that kind of scummy shit behind the backs of their userbase? No warning, no talks, no transparency at all? This sits really wrong with me.
So, unfortunately, I most likely will leave Tumblr.

📝 Unlocking the Secrets of Content Strategy 📝
Content strategy isn't just about posting eye-catching visuals or crafting witty captions; it's a strategic endeavor aimed at achieving specific objectives and resonating with a target audience. It involves an understanding of audience preferences, the creation of compelling content that adds value, and the maintenance of consistency across various platforms.
Now, let's connect the dots between these conceptual musings and my Content Analysis Project. The data I'm diligently collecting serves as a treasure trove of insights into content strategy in action. By scrutinizing the engagement metrics of cat influencers, I can draw several compelling conclusions:
The data reveals how different content types and posting frequencies impact audience engagement. By analyzing likes, comments, and plays, I can discern which content resonates most with the audience and tailor future strategies accordingly.
Through data analysis, I can identify which content strategies yield the highest engagement rates. Whether it's captivating images, engaging videos, or thought-provoking captions, the data provides valuable feedback on the effectiveness of various content approaches.
Content strategy hinges on maintaining consistency and cohesion across platforms. By examining engagement trends over time, I can assess the consistency of content delivery and identify areas for improvement in maintaining a cohesive brand image.
This project serves as a conduit for unraveling the intricacies of content strategy. By scrutinizing the data collected from cat influencers, I can draw actionable conclusions about effective content creation, audience engagement, and brand consistency! 🚀💡

This might be a horrible and awful question so feel free to ignore it, but I'm doing an independent research project for my history class and I've always had a special interest in ancient egypt so I was going to look into that, but I'm not sure what specific topic I would focus on. Do you have any suggestions of interesting topics related to ancient egypt (probably pre Julius ceaser) that would be a good fit for a couple thousand word paper?
I mean, if I suggest a topic then it's no longer independent research I'm ngl. The purpose of this is to research and decide for yourself what's a good topic to condense into a 2000 word essay. Things I could suggest right now would likely be....a bit too niche for something you'd need. It's the problem you get with asking an 'expert' sometimes, because they're too far embedded in the topic to see an easier topic than they might usually come up with. Asking an expert for a 'pre-Caesar' topic leaves you with...five thousand years of their history. It's not easy to pluck a topic out of that.
If you're into Ancient Egypt you should probably think about what type of topic you're looking for: religion or language or culture or history? Which one of those topics interests you most? Is there an aspect of the topic that interests you most that makes you go 'I want to learn more about this' and it's that that'd be the best topic for a paper. Not only would you be starting with something you're interested in, but you'd be able to research a topic you're interested in too.
You like hieroglyphs? Do you want to talk about the develop of hieroglyphs into a fully formed language? From their early beginnings on ivory labels to the complexity of the Pyramid Texts or literary texts such as Sinuhe?
You like culture? Do you want to talk about symbols of kingship and power? From the false beard denoting divinity, to the enemies always being subdued due to the inherent magical nature of images for the Egyptians.
These are questions you've got to ask of yourself. If you pick a topic, then I can probably point you to some good books on it or give you advice on how to tackle it, but since this is an independent research paper it's really important that you come up with the topic yourself.
