I have such a deep hatred for (character)sister!reader. I don’t exactly know why but maybe it’s because the character reader (me) is meant to be related to (mind you it never says adopted) is always WHITE.

You may be saying “it’s really not that serious, calm down bitch”

To that I have to say

1. Don’t call me a bitch without a strap-on attached to you

2. It is that serious cause (and I will never shut up about this) white coded fics literally FLOOD every single crevice of the fan fiction world and it’s tiring. Same goes for skinny coded and short coded fics while we’re on the topic of exclusion.

Like can you imagine how frustrating it is to find a bomb ass fic with such a good plot and a word count that could have you reading till you’re dead, and you’re immersing yourself in it and really getting lost and throughly enjoying the story envisioning yourself however you want just to be broken out of it by

“she craned her neck up at him”

“her thin pink lips”

“gripping so hard her knuckles turned white”

“Her petite frame”

Ect.

Like I’m not gonna police you on how to write your fics cause heaven knows I do not have the motivation to become a writer and posses the skill. But could we at least TRY to be POC, Plus Size, Tall person friendly? At least once in a while?

Cause I feel so pathetic when I get overly excited seeing descriptions that I can actually apply to myself or just neutral descriptors in general.

I love how the last of us is like. love doesn’t have to be audibly communicated. it doesn’t inherently have to be verbally spoken because sometimes it doesn’t need to be. sometimes it’s fixing a watch and offering it as a present. sometimes it’s packing crayons and paint to offer a sense of normalcy and childhood. sometimes it’s selflessly putting yourself between the face of danger and the person you’re growing to care about. sometimes it’s giggling late at night over dumb, silly little puns. sometimes it’s bonding over shared interests. sometimes it’s seeing someone in peril and keeping your eyes affixed on them to ensure that they see the light of day. sometimes it’s a hivemind adjacent level of understanding in which you and the other person can ride the wave of chaos by cognitively working together even at a distance. sometimes actions truly speak louder than words. silence can speak incredible volumes, and in a really touching way. some things don’t need to be said to have visible meaning

the real tragedy of tlou is that in saving ellie’s life, joel dooms their relationship. it’s not tragic that he killed a hospital of ppl and prevented a cure bcus we have no emotional attachment to any of those people or the notion a cure might actually work and fix the world. we’ve travelled across that world with ellie and joel and seen how it’s in pieces and how unlikely it could ever be fixed the way the fireflies imagine. but emotionally we ARE with joel and ellie and as we see them in that car and hear joel tell his lie and see ellie’s face, we know that things can’t be the same for them again. i am now and have always been of the opinion that joel lies in that moment to protect her from her feelings of guilt and the burden of thinking she has 2 save the world (and ive always said too he should have told her the truth eventually instead of her having to force his hand to get it), but regardless of that the choice joel made and the lie is always going to be between them. things will always be a little different now. an unspoken thing that eats away at the space between them, making it bigger and bigger. and that’s why it’s really tragic because joel picked ellie’s life over and above anything else cus he loved her and thus knew her life had value independent of being a cure to save the world and she should get to live it, but whilst she is living it (something she is only able to do cus he saved her), he has to watch from afar. he saves her and loses her at the same time.

#this is not me saying i agree with the complete estrangement they have in part 2 #that’s still so divorced from the things they do for each in part 1 i just can’t see it #but ive always said that i can see their relationship being different/colder/not remotely as close #especially as she gets older and keeps asking about the hosp and he keeps lying like he should have fessed up when it was eating her up #and honestly the whole thing would have been so interesting to explore in part 2 if they’d done it properly instead of #killing joel off so fast and being very dull in how they explored their new dynamic with that lie between them #anyway i digress #tlou #the last of us #joel miller #ellie williams #the last of us spoilers

joel didn’t berate ellie for hiding the fact she knew sam had been infected. he recognized her benevolence in her attempt to save him and was receptive to her remorse in failing to do so. as we would come to realize, joel knows all too well the burden of perceived failure. of not being enough. of failing to save someone. he reaffirmed her immunity having purpose in the long run, but not just due to any scientific logistics. he couldn’t let ellie dwell in that pit of insufficiency he sat in every day. which was more than he could do for himself!! *jumps off a bridge*

i’d love to see joel open up about his anxiety and panic attacks (or for ellie to figure it out after witnessing it first-hand) and ellie to help him work through it. she’s smart, and she’s grown up in this world, and i have a feeling she’d know how to bring him back down - it’s another thing that would just make them stronger as a team, to know that this thing joel is terrified will get someone else killed is actually something they can try to manage together. with that trust, with ellie understanding and being able to assist and take action when necessary instead of being unaware of it, they’ll be better off, not worse (as is the case throughout their journey)

I cant wait to see Joel’s relief when they embrace during winter. The panic that will set in to her because she thinks he’s one of them. Until he grabs her face and says “look at me”. Until she sees it’s him and falls into his shoulder.
