I finished it. God, finishing one of these books always has an effect on me. I don’t remember much about the first one, since it was subtle. But I was hooked, through and through. I got the second book so quickly, I guess I didn’t have time to think about it. But it pushed me to get the second book so quickly, to make sure I didn’t put it down. The second book hit hard. I’ve said it on here before, but I got it and basically read it for 6 hours straight. I did have to take breaks, though not by my choice. I finished it, someone was off with me. We all know the cliff hanger, but it was just that. I had to take a minute. It was a lot. I don’t know why, but it was. For days, it was most of my thoughts. It left, as life went on, but it was always in the back of my mind. When A Curse for True Love came out, I wanted to get it. Really, I did. But I had other book commitments, and I wanted to re-read the first two. They had filled effects. But they were still there. I’m not sure what this one did. I don’t know how long it will take to know what to call it, but I feel it. I really do. I’m not sure what it was. But something shifted in me. I have the Barnes and Nobles exclusive, so I have one of the three alternate endings. But, I haven’t read it. I need this to sink in, that’s it’s done. That was the end. If I read it now, I’m afraid I’ll think of it as the canon ending. None of them are canon of course, so I’ll be taking a little first. But, these books man. I have more to say, but sometimes, especially for me, words don’t come.

Meet my MC: Eva Archer

This beautiful rendition of Eva Archer by the amazing lilyoffandoms

Eva Archer is fiercely loyal to her friends and sister. Being forced to leave someone very close to her behind early on was the hardest thing and it's left her deeply scarred. She refuses to lose anyone else she's close to and it will push her to make emotional rather than rational decisions.

Eva is not the bravest, but will do anything to defend her friends. Her friendship and frequent quests with Eli and Angel help her gradually feel more confident in her fighting skills. She is playful, prone to joke to make light of tough situations, and particularly enjoys to banter with her childhood friend Troy (whom she's had a secret crush on in her Tower days). She is curious about the world outside the tower and life before the zombie apocalypse. As a leader, she speaks up against injustices and tries to be conciliatory.

She loves her sister Brynn. Eva admires her fierceness and how she bravely ventures out as a scout every day to support the colony. Eva hopes to become as tough as her sister. They butt heads on Brynn's refusal to speak out against the totalitarianism by Tower leadership, though Eva eventually realizes her sister was only trying to keep them safe.

Literally my only real complaint for season 4 is that at no point did they change Eva from her pregnant clothes. Not even when they already had her new design from the kickstarter.

I'm sorry, it's such a minor pet peeve, but that giant blouse looks godawful on her! 😭 Her kickstarter look was both more adult and refined, yet it still went perfectly with her archer aesthetic.

RIP her character design.
