im so tired ive been up since 4:30 am but ive had a HELL of a day /pos
firstly saw a red deer then a red squirrel in the morning
then my dad & i went to the coast & sweet jesus the amount of action!!! there were great northern divers everywhere, most in full breeding plumage, some even calling!! there was a small group of male red-breasted mergansers displaying & then a huge flock of 350 common scoter, all packed tightly together
onto the next bay, yet more divers, mergansers & a kestrel. THEN out very far from the shore we saw a fucking MINKE WHALE surface a couple times!!!!
on a little further: dozens of rafting manx shearwaters, ive never seen them raft before!! it was flat calm so not enough wind for their liking. THEN 3 whole harbour porpoises feeding for about an hour among the shearwaters & i even saw them logging on the surface, again never seen that behaviour irl. THEN. ANOTHER FUCKING MINKE WHALE. THATS 2 WHALES IN 1 DAY
other people i know saw jumping sea bass, common dolphins & BASKING SHARKS in the bay today so HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT A DAY /POS

Man, I miss the internet when you could just freely browse all sorts of niche blogs and fan sites without having to have an account anywhere... There was so much to explore! Now you need to have an account with Instagram and Tiktok before they'll let you see anything, or it's locked behind a paywall on someone's Patreon.
We used to "browse," like we were wandering free in a big pasture, and now it's a "feed," where someone keeps shoveling stuff into a trough in front of your face and you have to keep choking it down.
I miss "Free Range" internet is what I'm saying, I guess. Not this Content Factory Farming crap.

Shows and movies love to use DB Cooper and put their own spin on the story, and rightfully so, it's a fun mystery! We don't know what happened, and the speculation is fun. Maybe he was just a dude in prison who then partook in a bonkers escape with two brothers, maybe he was an asgardian god who lost a bet to his brother. But I'll tell you what, nobody is ever going to top Leverage, because rather than use it as a quick gimmick, those writers took a fun folk legend and gave it a raw, beating heart.
"He did bring him to justice" is now burned into my brain. Only on this show can you get served a mystery, a buddy cop movie, a rom-com with the meet cute to end all meet cutes, and then have it all tied together by the statement that "justice" isn't a life spent in prison, but a life spent helping other people.

Reasons to watch hit anime Psycho-Pass if you're a Bungou Stray Dogs enthusiast:
Detectives
Very cool discussions on morals
The protagonist is voiced by Lucy's va, and she's fabulous. (No I'm not kidding. one of the best written female characters I've ever seen if I can speak on the matter.)
You know the whole stray dogs symbolism that is everywhere in bsd? Well pp has that with hunting dogs
Characters will be quoting irl authors every two scenes so there's that
Gay people no queerbait!! Like actual gay people™ being gay™!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And in love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know how bsd has this kind of very annoying character who makes his coworkers lives miserable that is kind of fun to watch but you'd hate to meet irl? There's a character like that in pp too and she's a woman so I count it as a win
Complex and elaborate characters!!!! Human characters!!!! Characters that question their beliefs!!!!
A character that kinda looks like Tanizaki and a character that kinda looks like Poe
Also I'm aware there's a venn diagram of people who like bsd and ynm so you'll be delighted to find out the first season manga adaptation is illustrated by the same artist of the ynm manga
Don't watch the third season it's not worth it

genuinely jim really. doesnt. see li ming for who he is. it's not just that li ming hides things from him, he hides things because jim won't actually see the truth of what li ming shows to him if he did. it's not that neither of them care, it isnt like li ming doesnt want to share - it's just at this point he has learned there isn't a point to sharing, because jim will fight him about it. jim's too caught up in his own worries and assumptions and expectations to see the man his nephew is growing into.
jim is at a loss when li ming skips out on him and happily walks away with two boba teas, because li ming has no interest in telling jim he's friends with heart. jim witnesses the argument between heart and heart's parents, witnesses li ming as translater, and still tries to stop him from acting, still tells him afterwards that li ming was in the wrong for taking heart out.
and it's not like the reasons jim is like this aren't understandable, he has so much on his plate. heart's parents are powerful, they're rich, and jim is working on trying to save the diner. he loves li ming and looks out for him and worries about him, and doesn't want heart's parents to react in a way that could put their family, or the diner, in harms way. add on top of that his emotional block that comes from past romantic relationships and the way that's all being dug into with wen right now, and you know that jim is trying to keep things as close to his chest as possible. all that worry creates a wall, and it's clear he's trying to hold li ming behind that wall, where it's safe...because he loves him! yet in doing so he doesn't see the kindness and patience and strength li ming has as his own individual. he doesn't see that those risks li ming is taking are worth it. he doesn't see that those risks are worth taking about himself. it makes me insane.
