@moonlightandstarshimmer tagged me to explain how I picked my URL! Thanks for the tag!
TL;DR: My pen name is a pirate name. Yo ho, let's go!
"BG Sparrow" goes a long way back to the first fanfic I ever published in the Pirates of the Caribbean fandom in 2004. I was 15, and my two best friends who were also obsessed were 14 and 13. They encouraged me writing up this silly story where Jack, Will, and Elizabeth got stuck in the 21st century and we had to hide them/ deal with them/ get them back to their own time.
Anyways, in the story, when we said goodbye, each of them gave us a pirate name. Elizabeth gave my friend Lindsay the name Bloody Jane, Will gave Jessica the name Mad Mary, and Jack gave me the name Black Grace. So in the sequel, when we went to pirate times, we were Jane Swann, Mary Turner, and Grace Sparrow lol.
It's been my fanfic pen name all these years, and I don't think I could ever part with it because of how great it felt to find this new hobby and have my friends just wait on bated breath for the next ridiculous adventure I put to paper. It was a terrible, terrible fic and incredibly self-indulgent, written at a time where I never thought I'd take writing seriously, but I still have it posted to my old FFN account as a reminder of all the fun and love that got me to where I am today.
I doubt I'll ever officially publish any original work under this pen name, but here it lives. <3
Tell me about your urls, you crazy kids (if you like): @daryfromthefuture @jayisnotdrawing @brinkle-brackle @manebioniclegali @synthsays

Fanfics I'll Never Get Around to Writing #12
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE UNBROKEN CURSE
Premise: Poseidon's trident has been broken. Every curse at sea has been lifted. And Will Turner is plagued by dreams warning of a vengeful force coming for his family. With everything the trident has unleashed onto earth from heaven and hell, will there be any room left in the sea for pirates? Desperate to fulfill his vision of becoming the "Last Pirate," Captain Jack Sparrow joins Will, Elizabeth Swann, and their children for one last adventure in the Caribbean.
Characters featured: everyone except Barbossa, who I don't want to resurrect yet again. Pintel and Ragetti need to rejoin the crew, though.
Chapter title ideas:
A Face for Tentacles
No More Room in Hell
The Gods Care Not
Leverage and Debts
Pirate's Life
Specifics: in some ways a small-scale story...less about traveling over the vast ocean in search of some MacGuffin and more a personal, intimate battle of Will Turner's as he prepares for the return of Davy Jones. This would be a great time to explain why Will had crust on his face in Dead Men Tell No Tales (apparently he wasn't doing the job any more than Jones was). Also into the idea of the timeline finally beginning to change, of history running its course and the reality of pirates dwindling away, and exploring what that means for Jack.

C1: Honeymoon Island 1#
With a flash of green, it is over. The honeymoon is over. Elizabeth digs her feet deeper into the wet sand as she stares out at the spot of the horizon, now empty, feeling the sea lap so enticingly around her ankles, and it anchors her.
What now?
Tumblr media
She is a wife and a widow, her husband lost to her, and yet she must remain faithful. For ten years, she must wait for him, and keep him in her heart. Can love last that long without so much as a look, a kiss? Perhaps she would have once believed it to be possible, during her younger, sillier days when life was mere romance, without substance or experience. But now?
Glancing across, she sees the chest, within which her husband’s heart beats its steady, impossible rhythm. She picks it up, holding it close, pressing her ear against it. Thump, thump, thump.
Reason tells her that this love can’t last, that there is no marriage to salvage - he is dead, lost to the sea, and she is left a widow. They married in haste, after months of bitterness and discord between them. They married in the heat of battle. Would she have said yes, had they waited until the cannon fire ceased? Had they not been so convinced that death was coming for them, nipping at their heels. But then of course, Will’s fate was sealed, and she is glad at least that he has someone with whom to keep his heart safe.
No, reason be damned, she had made a promise, and she must keep Will close, as close as he had been that day, when their love had burned, fierce and renewed, any past doubts cast aside. She had chosen him, and he her, and she must hold onto that, for the sake of his soul.

→ The ❌ emoji means that as much as I am open to write NSFW fics, I don’t write those for marked fandoms/characters. I may write romantic fics for all characters, but I’ll be cautious with younger ones. → Every fandom has a note about what I can take into consideration. It is amazing, really, how fast one can fall in love with the sea. (Y/n), for example, had been captured and taken hostage by pirates on a ship called the Black Pearl and it was right at the moment they left the Port that she’d fallen in love with the water and the feeling of freedom.
That had been quite some years ago now. (Y/n) (l/n) had grown up into a beautiful young woman and a pirate under the orders of Captain Jack Sparrow. While the man was crazy, he was creative and somehow made quite a name for himself with his adventures and his instinct for survival. Will Turner almost had a change of heart when he first laid his eyes upon the female pirate. Emphasise almost. He had made a deal with the captain of the ship once upon a time to save the love of his life when the Black Pearl was still Barbosa’s.
That brought him to wonder what (y/n)’s story was. She had gotten to know Elizabeth Swann on the ship while she had been under the hostage of Barbosa and his crew and (y/n), at the time, seemed loyal to Barbosa but as soon as the Black Pearl was in Jack’s hands, she seemed to be loyal to him. Perhaps that was her tactic of survival although.. Something told Will it wasn’t exactly about surviving for the woman. “I fell in love with the sea if that’s what you’re wondering.” Will was snapped out of his thought at the feminine voice and he turned his head with a small gasp only to find a pair of (e/c) eyes looking at him and a small smile grazing upon rosy lips. “I- I didn’t know.. How did you.. I mean..?” He was confused, needless to say, how could she possibly have known what he was thinking about? “I’ve seen you glancing at me every now and then and your face when I didn’t choose to stay with Barbosa when the Black Pearl changed sides told me enough. I am loyal to no one but the Black Pearl, no matter the captain. In the end.. She is her own captain.”
(Y/n) turned around and returned to her duty on deck, leaving Will staring after her in awe. Loyal to no one but the ship itself and in love with the sea. It seemed pretty cliché if one really thought about it, but Will did not matter that at all. If anything, he admired that about her. She had a mind of her own. Although her clothes, hair and face were always dirty and a little roughed up, he could help but notice how amazing that woman is- “Will?” He turned and faced what he told himself to be the love of his life; Elizabeth Swann stood there with one eyebrow raised and a curious look on her face as she approached him and placed a hand on his cheek. She inspected his eyes for an answer to a question she had not yet asked. “What were you so deep in thought about?” “It- It’s nothing, Elizabeth.. Nothing..” However, Will couldn’t help but glance behind Elizabeth to look at (y/n) as she walked up the stairs and towards Jack Sparrow to report her duties for the day.
 ¬ Time Skip ¬
(Y/n) regretted to say that her loyalty had changed. First it had been with the sea, no matter what ship she’d be on, she’d always stay at sea unless it was for a small break in one of the many ports. But when the time came and the Black Pearl changed sides, she found herself in need to stay with the ship and thus in command of Jack Sparrow himself. But once more the time came.
William Turner Jr. had found a place among the pirates and became one himself. It was difficult to say which side he was on but it seemed to be his own. He even dared to withhold truth from his fiancée though… He had honestly told (y/n) about his plans. She did not exactly like it – mostly because his life would be endangered once more – but she supported him; she understood why he wanted to do it. So yes, her loyalty has changed and she regretted to say it for she would never allow herself to admit she had fallen in love with Bootstrap Bill’s son. Silently, the female scolded herself while she cut another pirate’s throat aboard the Flying Dutchman. She should not get distracted by her own thoughts now she was fighting a bunch of undead pirates. Secretly, she was glad she could leave the captain – Davy Jones himself – to Will and Jack and maybe even Elizabeth while they fought in an outrageous storm caused by Calypso herself.
(Y/n) also regretted to have underestimated the goddess now she was on the brink of death, almost literally. One misstep, one slip up, one little mistake and she would fall into the pit of the ocean. “William..” she heard a man groan beside her. It caused her head to turn swiftly and her (h/c) hair to slap her in the face as she looked at Bootstrap. Then her eyes turned to look at Will though.. His heart was pierced through by Davy Jones’ sword.
(Y/n)’s eyes widened and before she knew it, she was on her knees besides Jack and at Will’s side. Her hand gently cupped Will’s cheek as she desperately pleaded for him to stay awake and stay with her. “Will please..” she whispered, “Don’t leave me like this. Not now..”
Elizabeth Swann watched from a distance. Her anger grew at the sight of her fallen fiancé, though.. Was he still? She had seen the looks Will had given (y/n) and while she regretted to say it; she felt no more love for Will like she did before. Sure, he still was a good friend and she truly grieved his death but what (y/n) and Will seemed to feel for one another was much stronger than she and Will would have ever felt. So no, she could not say he was her fiance anymore.
It broke her heart to pull (y/n) away from Will’s dead body after Jack had helped Will stab Davy Jones’ heart. A few tears escaped her own eyes as she looked at the lifeless brown eyes of Will. “No! Will! No! Please..! Stay with me! Please…” (y/n) kept on begging. Elizabeth sighed sadly and let go of her for a second but it proved to be enough to have (y/n) back at Will’s side and clinging to him like that would bring him back.
“Leave her,” Jack muttered sadly besides Elizabeth while he wrapped an arm around her waist and held a rope with his free hand, “We must go. She won’t leave his side and there is no use in trying to pull her away.” Before Elizabeth could protest, they flew up in the air and watched as the ship got pulled into the dark pit of the vortex.
“Part of the ship.. Part of the crew.. Part of the ship.. Part of-“ The crew of the Flying Dutchman kept chanting while Bootstrap closed in on Will and (y/n) with a small knife in his hand.
“The Dutchman must have a captain.” Bill muttered before he pierced his knife through Will’s chest and then all (y/n) could remember was being held by one of the crew members as the ship got pulled down into the water.
Darkness overcame her and it felt like she had died but somewhere she knew she was not dead. Death was supposed to be peaceful, wasn’t it? This certainly didn’t feel like peace when her chest was hurting in the need of oxygen. Then the sun hit her out of a sudden and she gasped for air she actually did not need anymore. Her eyes opened and in front of her was the crew, changing into their normal bodies and they looked a lot more peaceful than when she had fought against them. Their gaze rested upon their new captain who stood at the helm and shouted his very first order as captain. “Ready on the guns!” And before (y/n) could even progress what had happened the fast few minutes, their enemy was destroyed and Will had run up towards her with wide eyes. “(Y/n)!” He exhaled and placed a hand on either side of her neck, holding her in place ever so gently.
“Captain Turner..” She whispered back with a small smile “Please.. Tell me you did not..” “I’m afraid I did when the ship went down the vortex, captain.” Will looked down with a frown and a regretful look in his eyes before looking back up and into her (e/c) eyes that shined in the light of the sun. “You will not be tied to this ship, (y/n), I cannot hold you here. Be free. That’s what you always wanted, isn’t it?” “Will..” “What are your orders captain?” Bill suddenly said from behind (y/n). “You, too, are free to go..” Now Will almost sounded desperate though if he had to be honest, he didn’t want either of them to leave him on this ship alone. “I know,” Bill said and added after some silence, “But I still got a debt to pay with you.” “At the wheel then, Mr. Turner.” “Aye, captain Turner.”
Then those warm brown eyes were back on your (e/c) ones. They looked at you expectantly, waiting for you to give your answer and finish your previously started sentence. “Will.. I- First my loyalty lay with the sea, then with the Black Pearl but now? Now my loyalty lies with you… As does my heart.” (y/n) finally confessed after all that time. “When you were to wed Elizabeth, my heart broke and I knew- I thought I could never have you so I stayed on the Pearl but.. Then something happened between you and Elizabeth and I somewhere thought I made a chance.. Then you died right in front of me and Will..”
A tear slipped down her cheek while she lowered her head in embarrassment and in sadness as she thought back to that horrible moment. “I thought I had lost you once more but that time for good and yet here you are, somewhat tied to a ship, but still.. You are alive, more or less, and I couldn’t ask for anything else.. Because I love you William Turner..” Will stayed quiet for a moment. The words she just spoke slowly sinking into his head and registering even slower. She loved him. She just confessed she loved him as he had fallen in love with her.
Without a second thought, Will pressed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss, one hand coming up to the back of her head to keep her pressed against him while the other pressed on her lower back as he slightly dipped her back. (Y/n) kissed him back with just as much passion and winded her arms around his neck to keep steady. Only when they found himself at lack of breath they pulled apart thought never let go of each other.
“I love you too, (y/n).. So much. Let us conquer the Seven Seas together on the Flying Dutchman and spend eternity in each other’s company. “I, myself, made a mistake by thinking I fell in love with Elizabeth Swann. I had fallen in love with you the moment I saw you on the Black Pearl. You were so passionate about the ocean and the ship.. It made me admire you even more than I did before. I thought it was but a mere crush and the need of affection because I thought I’d lost Elizabeth to the pirates but everything changed when I saw Elizabeth again. She will always hold a special place in my heart, but you.. You own my heart, (y/n) (l/n). You always have and always will, figuratively and literally if you’ll have me.”
He wiped away a few tears that fell down his beloved cheeks and kissed her once more. “Let me show you how much I love you..” He whispered against her lips before they retreated to the Captain’s quarters.

Whatever the Horizon Brings
“Can you write a fanfic of willabeth post potc5?”
A/N: Yes, I can try! Lowkey about Elizabeth but lots of fluff and good times I think. Please, feel free to send more requests my way! I am happy to do them and I (hopefully) will be able to get to them faster in the future.
Word count: 620
XXX
Elizabeth Swann had been a married woman for almost 20 years.
Yet only now, with a son that was practically grown, with so many years between today and the day she married, did she get to enjoy a full, proper day of wedded life.
Certainly, it could be called unfair, and yes, she and Will could very well be proclaimed as star-crossed, but as the Pirate King stood overlooking the endless sea, her husband beside her, she felt, of all things, lucky. Overjoyed, because finally, at long last, Will was hers to keep, just as she was his.
A gale of laughter sounded from the beach below them, where Carina and Henry were. Both parents turned to watch the young couple as they walked along the shore. Henry was so like his father, something that had both worried Elizabeth and filled her with pride her son grew into a man.
“You have raised a fine son,” a low voice said in her ear.
“I am sorry,” Will continued, his voice dropping even quieter than before, “that you were alone in raising him.”
Elizabeth faced him, placing a hand on his chest to feel the beat of his heart. “But we have you now,” she whispered softly, a smile flickering across her face, “and you can stay.”
And like they had done before, so many times, they kissed. Fingers lost in the messes of each other's hair, bodies so close, and the endless wanting, needing for each other finally satisfied. Though their passion ran so deep, was infused into their every fiber of their beings, they showed no desperation with their action. Because, as they knew, as they had always known, even with the rage of the sea around them, even with the years threatening to tear them apart, that they would find their way back to each other, that they belonged together, and that they would end up in each other’s arms again.
Will and Elizabeth separated, smiles breaking out on their faces as they leaned in towards each other, foreheads touching. She sighed, relaxing into him, and his arms folded around her, holding her tightly.
Endless moments lay ahead of them. The night prior, they had eaten together as a family for the first time, and it was then, she realized, for perhaps the thousandth time that day, that all the waiting, and anguish, and tears had been worth it. To see the love in Will’s eyes when he looked at Henry, to spend the perfect evening with both of her boys, to be able to take Will to bed at long last. And thousands more moments like that were ahead of them. All the hells they had endured, all the death and bloodshed had been worth it, because now they were complete.
Calloused fingers cupped her face, though they lacked the softness of their kiss only moments before. ”What is it?” Elizabeth asked, feeling Will tense.
“I am so afraid,” he murmured, “after all that we have gone through… we could lose each other again.”
“And what would keep us apart?” She questioned, “What could?”
He shook his head. “I don’t know. But something-”
“Nothing.” She replied firmly, “and if that danger should arise… then we shall face it.”
“Elizabeth-”
“We have made it so far.” She closed her eyes, pressing into him, “and fought hard for this. After all we’ve been through… nothing can keep us apart.”
“I love you.” He whispered in reply. “From the moment I met you…”
Elizabeth laughed softly, kissing him once more.
“But what now?” She challenged, “With all the time in the world,” she smiled teasingly, “all the adventures of the sea waiting for us… what next?”
“Whatever the horizon brings.”

Pirates of the Caribbean 5
I just got back from seeing Dead Men Tell No Tales.  I have thoughts.  Quite a few of them, actually.
I should preface this review by giving a bit of background on my involvement with this franchise.  I saw the first PotC movie in the theater seven times.  I saw Dead Man’s Chest three or four times and loved it.  I saw At World’s End exactly once, hated it with the passion of a thousand burning suns, and never saw it again.
I was--and am--a hardcore Sparrabeth shipper.  The canon status of Willabeth only explains part of my disillusionment with the franchise, however.  My biggest problem was how Elizabeth had an amazing character arc over three films, going from a prim-and-proper governor’s daughter to the ass-kicking Pirate King, pursuing her dreams in defiance of society’s expectations, outwitting both the EITC and legendary pirates, leading an armada in battle...and then had it all stripped away at the end of the third movie, where she is left literally barefoot and pregnant to wait for her man to come back.  I was--and am--livid.  I felt betrayed, both as a fan and a feminist, to see one of my favorite characters do a 180 like that.
So I have very strong feelings about these movies.  I’ve tried to get over it in the years since AWE, with limited success.  Against my better judgment I did see On Stranger Tides in the theater, and thought it was mediocre.  Since Elizabeth wasn’t involved I could just ignore its existence, for the most part.
Then the fifth movie was announced, and Will was going to be in it.  I had hoped that maybe, just maybe they could try to rectify some of the mistakes (read: character assassination) of the past.
They didn’t.  But they still came up with a pretty good movie.  Honestly, I’d even give Dead Men Tell No Tales four stars out of five.  I was riveted to the screen for most of it, and it was thrilling to hear the theme music and see the familiar faces.  It was exciting and entertaining, the special effects were impressive, and there were some good laughs.  Plus, zombie sharks!
Do I have issues with parts of it?  Yeah.  And I’m going to ramble at length.
**** MAJOR POTC: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES SPOILERS BELOW ****
Sequel creep is definitely at work, where each installment has to be bigger and zanier than the last.  The gags are broader, the willing suspension of disbelief gets even more strained, the stakes are higher, and it becomes almost like a Saturday morning cartoon version of itself.
Thinking back to CotBP, we had to buy into the curse turning Barbossa and his crew into undead, but other than that the world operated on fairly realistic terms.  Yes, there was movie logic involved as far as coincidences, travel times, fast wound recovery, and all that, but it still felt more or less like the real world.  Stakes got higher with each sequel, until we have whatever the hell that “bank robbery” was in DMTNT.
Don’t get me wrong; it was an enjoyable action sequence, but it felt more like a cartoon than anything that could happen under the laws of physics as they exist in our world.  That’s not inherently a bad thing, but the tone was noticeably different compared to the earlier films.
Moving on, I was glad Captain Salazar didn’t have that slurpy, blood-drooling voice through the entire film.  When I first heard that in the early trailer I was both grossed out, and concerned that he would be hard to understand.  Instead it was just that one scene, and he spoke normally the rest of the time.  He was a great villain, from his badass and scary entrance through to his delightfully ironic death.  He was genuinely threatening, which was kind of surprising considering the cartoony feel of some of the action scenes.  Javier Bardem killed it.  Thumbs up to him!
The legend surrounding the trident, and the map to find it, seemed cool until you thought about it for more than two seconds, and then it didn’t really make any sense.  Calypso is the Sea Goddess in this universe, so where did Poseidon come in?  How can his trident override curses that she put in place?  If it could be broken by a single sword blow, how did it stay intact under the sea for (presumably) thousands of years?  I mean, sure, maaaaaagic, but...eh.
And why did Will get all barnacley anyway?  Elizabeth waited for him, so that part of the curse shouldn’t have kicked in.
And what will happen to the souls of the dead without the Dutchman to ferry them to the afterlife?
And what happened to Bootstrap Bill?  Did Will figure out how to free him and let him move on to the afterlife?
And if breaking the trident cancelled all the curses related to the sea, how did Davy Jones appear in the after-credits scene?  (Assuming it was him.  The gait, crab claw, barnacles, tentacley silhouette and the music box theme all pointed to it being him, anyway.)  I could almost buy him coming back to life when the curse was broken, but as a normal human again, not ol’ squidface.  The mythology makes no damn sense at all!
This review is coming across pretty negative so far, but I really did enjoy the movie.  I thought it was much better than OST, and felt like a return to the original vibe of the series.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching (almost) every minute of it, and I left the theater grinning and humming the theme music.  As a summer popcorn movie, it’s pretty great.  It’s just when the adrenaline wears off and I start thinking and analyzing that I see the issues.  And, like I said, I have a long history with this franchise, so overthinking it is what I do.
There were definitely some surprises, although I saw a couple of the twists coming.  The instant I realized Carina was Hector’s daughter, I was like, “Well, he’s going to die saving her somehow.”  And I was right.  It was sad (and that damn monkey gave me more feels than any creepy little primate has a right to), but at the same time I’m delighted at how his character grew into so, so much more than he was originally planned to be.  He was supposed to be a one-shot villain in CotBP, but Geoffrey Rush is so damn awesome, and he and Johnny Depp brainstormed a history between their characters, decided his first name was Hector, and one thing led to another and here we are, genuinely mourning him in the fifth movie.  It was a worthy sendoff for a memorable character.
One of the themes that got raised over and over in the earlier movies was the idea that it’s possible to be a pirate and a good man.  Bootstrap Bill Turner was.  Jack is.  Was Hector Barbossa a good man?  I don’t know if I’d go that far, but he wasn’t 100% evil, either.  And he was a lot of fun to watch.
Henry definitely reminded me of Will.  He had the same wide-eyed earnestness about him, as well as the tendency to charge into danger because it’s the Right Thing To Do without thinking through the full plan first.  Elizabeth’s legacy is a bit harder to see, except in the first two scenes.  Keeping a secret stash of pirate memorabilia and legends?  Totally Lizzie.  Back-talking authority figures?  Yep, Lizzie’s genes are in there.  And later, in the jail, taking Jack’s ego down a peg by scoffing at his legendary reputation in comparison to the reality of a scruffy, rum-soaked pirate?  Also from the Swann side of the family.  So I think they did a pretty good job of making Henry his parents’ son.
I just wish we had more information on how he was raised, and where.  I always imagined him scampering around Shipwreck Cove and up the rigging of Elizabeth’s ship(s), the mischievous pirate prince.  Based on the house Elizabeth is living in at the end, and the fact that he was enlisted in the royal navy, I don’t see that happening in canon now.
When Carina was introduced I had a couple thoughts:
1.  “I wonder if she’s related to any existing characters...  No, don’t be silly.  This isn’t a fanfic.  They’re trying to move the franchise forward into the next generation.”  (Or not.) 2.  I don’t want to like her because no one can ever replace Elizabeth Freaking Swann the Pirate King as the best female character in these movies.  And that’s still true, but she definitely grew on me.  She had a fairly good balance of “smart woman who can take care of herself and doesn’t need a man to complete her story” and “too perfect to be likable or believable.”  I could have done with a costume that didn’t draw quite so much attention to her heaving bosom, but I suppose there’s some vaguely historical style going on.
Honestly, there’s a reason her backstory could have been lifted from a story on Fanfiction.net circa 2004:  those kinds of long-lost relative reveals can be a hell of a lot of fun.  Especially when you have Jack there to tease “daddy” Hector mercilessly.
I’m glad they didn’t have her be Jack’s daughter, though.  That thought crossed my mind, too, and that would have been...not good.
Pity Hector never got to introduce himself to Elizabeth and Will as the father of their potential daughter-in-law.  Awwwwwkward!  Bwahahaha!
Speaking of the dreaded Willabeth...  Jack saw them smooching in his spyglass, made a face, and announced that it was a revolting sight.  Same, Jack.  Same.
Therein lies my biggest complaint about the movie, and, as I mentioned above, it’s just the latest sprout on a tree of dislike that I’ve been nursing since the ending of At World’s End was leaked.  How in the seven hells they thought it was an appropriate, satisfying, logical plot development for Elizabeth Freaking Swann the Pirate King to end up standing around passively on a beach in a frilly dress and a fucking corset, waiting for the menfolk to do the important stuff, I will never, ever understand.  It’s a slap in the face of everything her character arc was over the first three movies.
“Sure, little girls, you can have adventures and play pirate for awhile if you want to, but in the end you still have to get married, grow up, conform to society’s beauty standards, put aside those dreams, and take care of your husband and children.”  Fuck that with a rusty garden trowel.
And here, when they had the chance to redeem that travesty, when they could have showed a glimpse of her at the helm of her own flagship, or holding court with the other Pirate Lords, or just simply wearing pirate-type clothes and carrying a sword, for the love of all things holy, did they do any of those things?  Oh, no.  No, they doubled down and had her be so passive that she didn’t even get to speak.  (Doesn’t that mean they don’t have to pay Knightley as much?)  Literally all she’s there for is to be a reward for Will upon his homecoming, and then sleep with him--on land in a fancy house that could have been in Port Royal, for all we know.  Any journey her character had is moot.  She’s back to square one, and it makes me want to throw things.
Oops, I was going to keep that rant short, and failed.  Oh well, it’s a sore spot, obviously.  I have never felt so betrayed by a franchise as I did when they did that to Elizabeth in AWE, and it still stings after all these years.
My ire didn’t even stem from my shipping preferences, although that certainly was salt in the wound.  If they couldn’t give us a series of movies with Jack and Lizzie, the best pirates in the world, having amazing adventures while flirting like they did in DMC, at least they could have given us a sort of open ending, where she, Will and Jack all sail in their separate directions, knowing that their paths would cross in the future in any number of entertaining ways.  I’m never sure if I should blame the writers, the studio, or the actors, or all of the above, but I would have bought, like, ALL THE TICKETS to see those movies.
But, alas, that’s not what we got.  We got OST and DMTNT instead.  OST was quite forgettable, but DMTNT packed a pretty good punch and I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.  I won’t say it totally redeemed the franchise for me, but it’s got its head above water for the first time since DMC, so that’s progress.
Should you see it?  Yeah, I think so.  If you enjoyed the precious PotC movies, or just like pirate movies in general, it’s a fun couple hours.  Just don’t think too hard about it afterward (like I did.)

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER. REPOST. DON’T REBLOG.
Tagged by @luckycaptainaubrey   – Thanks hon! I’m very excited about this. I’ve always looked at RPing from afar with curiosity but I don’t think I would have taken the plunge without an invitation. You’re so sweet!
BASICS:
• NAME:  Julia •  PRONOUNS: she/her •  SEXUALITY: bi •  TAKEN OR SINGLE:  married
– THREE FACTS.
1. All I wanna do is write write write. XD Fanfiction, books. I love golden age of piracy tales, Age of Sail, and urban fantasy. I tried the indi author thing and decided it’s not for me. Would like to be published someday... ::looks off into the distance::
2. I love history and work in antiques, which I guess is part of the reason I make picking apart the inconsistencies of PotC such a blood sport lol. But just when I think I’m an expert I learn something new, which is great. History never gets old…har har.
3. I am fascinated by cultures, am a world traveler, been to Western Europe, India, China, SE Asia, South & Central America. Would like to shoestring in the Caribbean someday.
•  HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): I’ve never RP’d before! So I’ve tried to answer these the best I could for you. •  PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED:  •  BEST EXPERIENCE: Being invited :)
– MUSE PREFERENCES. I gravitate towards Elizabeth Swann, she’s my girl.
•  FEMALE OR MALE: Female, it’s really interesting to me to concoct scenarios in which a female could have autonomy, adventure, power, influence, in a historical setting where usually they were disenfranchised. The cartwheels I do to achieve this in my original fiction is dizzying lol.
•  FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: Fluff and angst is both fine. I love a happy ending after dragging a reader’s heart through broken glass, lol. Anything that makes for a good story, really. And for someone who writes no-holds-barred fanfic, lol, I really don’t know about smut in RPing. But I’m down for flirting/whatever leads up to the fade to black, that’s all in good fun.
•  PLOTS OR MEMES: Both sound like great fun! We steal RP memes for fic ideas all the time lol. •  LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Either or, whatever feels right. •  BEST TIME TO WRITE:  I usually get the most writing time at work, where my man-child [husband] can’t interrupt me XD
•  ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): Maybe? Maybe only in my own head? Lol. I like to think of myself as a smart, fierce, intrepid kinda gal. And I’m certainly a pirate fangirl XD

hi so i read your billdip pirate fic and its really good but idk if youre going to continue it so could you please let me know? sorry if im being pushy but im kinda in fanfic limbo here rn lol
oh my god yes hi I didn’t expect anyone to ever find my tumblr again let alone message me
ye I’m probably not going to update the fic anytime soon??? I’m really really REALLY sorry about that… Fandom’s kinda dead and I’m actually working on an original novel now? (and also university #ripme) I’m super glad you like what I’ve managed to write though!!!
If it’s any consolation, the ending I had planned involved Dipper and Bill somehow getting together (because I never managed to figure out how lmao) and cute fluff happened. Exhausted Dipper saying “fuck it” and straight up falling asleep in the pond with Bill, soaked to the bone, while Bill sings about his One True Love under the stars and moonlight because I am a DISGUSTING ROMANTIC SAP and everything.
But ANYWAYS, the plot was that Dipper would have to leave Bill in the pond for a few days while the Pines went out to explore the rest of the island but then LO AND BEHOLD Gideon has of course followed the Mystery Shack pirates to the island and finds Bill. He captures him and brings him back to his ship where he dumps him in a fairly sized aquarium in the Captain’s quarters?
Then Bill overexerts himself by reaching out to Dipper via dreams. Dipper and the rest of his crew follow what directions Bill managed to tell them and stage an ambush attack to rescue Bill. It was going to be fairly EPIC with the mutineer half of the Mystery Shack crew having joined Gideon and wanting revenge and then Dipper dodging his way to the other side of the battlefield and breaking into the Captain’s quarters where he finds Bill in the aquarium (and maaaaaybe there was going to be a cheesy touching-palms-through-the-glass moment, we will never know). Then Gideon (of course, the little shit) interrupts, and actually I’ve never decided whether I really wanted him dead or not, and whether it would Dipper or Mabel that would kill him if I did. But anyways, Dipper gets Bill out and kinda like… just dumps him overboard?? very anti-climactic I weep.
Bill manages to sing the enemy pirates from the beach and into the ocean Gideon’s ship was anchored in. Whether they just kinda fall asleep or get eaten by the rest of the sirens is honestly just up to your own taste really.
Then I have absolutely no idea what happens. All I know is that first there’s The Angst because Dipper has to leave the island someday but Bill isn’t about to spend the rest of his life in an aquarium on the Mystery Shack just to stay with Dipper (once was quite enough thank you), so Dipper prepares to leave the island and Bill behind despite both their broken hearts. But when Dipper and the rest of the crew row back to the Mystery Shack, the other sirens ambush them again but only so that they can give The Shovel Talk™ to Dipper on Bill’s behalf. And then Dipper more or less runs back to Bill (and that just sounds so cheesy when said like that but I assure you it’s a Very Emotional Scene *snort*) and “convinces” him (it doesn’t take a lot of arguing, let’s be honest here) to leave with him on many many pirate adventures (and instead of being kept trapped in an aquarium, Bill would just swim alongside the ship until they’d get to a small deserted island Bill could live in while Dipper goes off and does his thing. Sometime during the story Bill would’ve gotten a magical item allowing him to use his dream powers to communicate with Dipper even from really really far away???? maybe idk).
There was a rough idea of a sequel maybe happening (obviously not going to be anymore) with a fairly important Mabifica storyline (as in, a good 50-50 split between billdip and mabifica). Pacifica would’ve basically been Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean 1 except with more Honest And Good Communication and Talking About Feelings with Mabel. The billdip storyline would’ve started with Dipper loosing dream-contact with Bill for (to his knowledge) no reason at all so of course he panics and gets the crew to divert course to Bill’s island ASAP only to discover that the idiot made a deal with some other supernatural creature (I don’t remember who it was but it was basically the Gravity Falls version of Ursula from The Little Mermaid) to get legs in exchange for his dream powers (instead of his voice I guess). Then it’s basically just Dipper trying to teach Bill how to be a Proper Human™ and Bill not having it.
OH AND ALSO I just now remembered Bill had some Tragic Backstory™ to be revealed. Basically he was born in a lake up north (AKA the good ol’ US of A) where he lived a pretty decent life until some human settlers started up a village on one of the banks. The humans started fishing in the lake, of course, making it hard for the sirens to hunt themselves. So it was rough for a while but the sirens made do and left the humans well enough alone. But then one day there was a little child playing on the beach while Bill (still quite young) was also playing nearby and so, trying to make friends, Bill started singing.
I think we all know what happens next.
The child, of course, drowns. The villagers, outraged and grieving, took their boats out and hunted the sirens down (they’d also sing and laugh sadistically while doing so because That’s How I Roll). Bill is the only survivor, and that’s because his parents managed to free him from capture (by literally overturning the boat because I swear the entire family has No Chill). They urged him to swim as fast as he could to where the lake flowed into a river (that led to the ocean) and Bill watched as his mother was killed right in front of him before the rapids took him down.
He then spent months travelling southwards, eating what little he could scavenge and cowering in fear of every new creature he saw (because any of them could be a predator, especially the ones with the sharp teeth) until Tad found him and brought him to live with the colony.
AND THAT’S ALL FOLKS
I think there were more plot holes/mysteries to be solved in the fic but fuck me if I can remember them. Just ignore them really. The fic’s like 2-3 years old now idk.

C2: RETURN TO SHIPWRECK COVE. PART 3#
The room was small and bare, with a bed which she could tell from a glance creaked terribly. A chest of drawers, empty. A chair with a woven seat stood against the wall. A small table sat in the corner, an old pot of ink, but no papers, no quill. An inch-thick layer of dust covered everything, as Teague had warned. No one had entered this room for quite some time. She could find nothing personal. Nothing which could tell her about Jack, from when he was simply Jackie. Jackie Teague. The boy before the legend. A pang of disappointment gripped her stomach. She had hoped to know him better. Something of his childhood which he would never have told her himself.
Nevertheless, the room smelled of him. As though he had just left the room. Something spiced, a vague hint of sandalwood, and... sweat. Quite overpoweringly of sweat, in fact, considering he hadn't set foot in the room for Lord knows how long. And there was something else... something...
Elizabeth moved towards the bed, the bedding seeming to be the source of the smell, as, where else could his scent be coming from? She pulled back the covers gingerly, and gasped, leaping back. Blood. Dark, old, blackened blood. With a brave sweep, she pulled away the thin blankets entirely. The bed was soaked through. Or had been, some time ago.
Tumblr media
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
"Yes?" Her voice broke. She couldn't take her eyes off the blood, wondering whose it was, and hoping to God that it wasn't Jack's.
The door inched open with a creak, and when she turned, she saw a little man, grey and slightly bowed, backing into the room, carrying a stack of linens in his arms as he pushed the door open with his shoulder.
"'ere y'are, yer Kingly-ness." His voice was smooth and grandfatherly, and as he turned, kind blue eyes caught her worried gaze, following it to the bed. The man shook his head sadly. "Aye, t'was a bad time, that."
"What happened here?"
The man placed the bedding down on the wicker chair, taking a moment first to wipe away the best of the dust with a rather soiled handkerchief.
Tumblr media
"I've been 'ere since Jackie were a wee lad." He explained, stripping the bloodstained bedding away as he did so. "I was born int' piratin', but truth be told, never been much good a' sea. Much prefer land, so I found myself 'ere, amongst me own, withou' 'avin' t' do much wot pirates be doin'. The lad weren' like tha', though. It surprised no one when 'e ran off t' the sea the momen' 'e turned four'een, withou' so much as a 'bye, pops' to ol' Teague. 'E'd come back now and then, though... always sportin' an injury which needed seein' t'."
Elizabeth's eyes widened. So it was Jack's blood.
"Aye, Miss." The man said, seeing her worry. "There were one particular night... nigh ten years ago or so, now. The boy came stumblin' back, 'avin' sailed 'ere in a little scrap of a boat, with a man named Gibbs. 'Is only crew a' the time, though if you'd seen this boat of 'is, 'e were in no need of a crew. It were small enough to be manned alone. No, 'e'd lost 'is ship, the Pearl, quite recently, in fact, and was still cut up about it. Loves that ship like a mistress, 'e does. So, Gibbs practically carried 'im up 'ere, up the hill, screamin' the whole way for a doc'or. Obviously, place like this, we 'ave one, an' we give 'm enough business to keep 'im 'ere. Doc'or Grove, is 'is name. 'E saw to the lad. 'E'd been shot, twice." The man patted his chest, just over his heart. "T'was a near miss. A few inches further south an'... Well, Teague were furious with 'im. The lad 'ad 'ad a pistol, after all, but 'e'd refused to use it. 'That bullet weren' mean' fer 'im, Dad', 'e kept sayin'. Never seen old Teague so mad, I ain'." Taking the straw mattress, which was also stained straight through, he carried it out into the hallway, returning moments later with a replacement. "This were pillaged just a week ago from a fine Spanish galleon. Should be more fittin' for a King." It was too large for the small bed frame, hanging limply onto the floor, but Elizabeth was grateful all the same.
Tumblr media
"I've seen Jack's scars." Elizabeth confessed, thinking back to their time on the island, having been mutinied by Barbossa. She thought of the dark cloud which had crossed Jack's gaze as he had drawn back his sleeves. "How on Earth did he survive?"
The man glanced towards the skies. "Miracle, I reckon. That lad's seen 'is fair share. Someone's smilin' down at 'im, scoundrel though 'e is. 'E must 'ave charmed an angel in a prior life, I reckon. Nah, 'e pulled through by the skin of 'is teeth. I s'pose no one thought to change the beddin'. 'e only ever comes by with some injury or other, when this is the closest friendly bit of land with a doc'or. Whatever 'e lies on would only get soiled again anyway." He busied himself, tucking fine sheets - no doubt taken also from a fine galleon - as best he could under the oversized mattress, and fluffing a fresh goose pillow.
"And that was the last time? That Jack was here?"
Tumblr media
"Aye." He brushed his hands together as he stood back to admire his work. "Though..." His face froze, and he half-turned, smiling at Elizabeth with a glint in his cornflower-blue eyes. "Now I come to think of it, there were one other time since. Quite recen'ly, in fact. Couple years back. 'E'd just gotten 'is Pearl back, I believe, an' it were once again ol' Gibbs who brought Jack 'ere, the lad staggerin' an' shoutin' that 'e didn' need no doc'or, 'e just needed 'is Pearl, but Gibbs knew best, as always."
Elizabeth's eyes widened. That must have happened since they had met, after she had watched him from the battlements of Port Royal, sailing into the distance. "What happened?"
"Fever. 'E'd caught summit nasty from some tribe, an' it were burnin' through him. Delirious, 'e were. Rantin' an' ravin' one minute, weepin' into the pillow, the next." He was eying Elizabeth curiously now, watching her. She shifted uncomfortably. "After all 'e'd survived before, no one doubted for a moment that 'e wouldn't pull through. A legend like 'e's carved out for 'imself, 'e could 'ardly go down to a fever, now, could 'e? But it were a nasty sickness, all the same. I remember one evenin', the night before the fever broke, I came in carryin' a tray of broth, to try an' get summit into 'im, an' there were no one else there at the time but the doc'or. The lad were sleepin', so it seemed, but 'e were mutterin' t' 'imself, nonsense, as always, an' neither the doc'or nor I paid it much mind, until..." He stepped closer to Elizabeth now, his voice dropping to a mere whisper. "'E started speakin' a name."
Tumblr media
A coil tightened in Elizabeth's gut. "A name?"
"Aye. Name of a woman. Chantin' it, quiet, like, under 'is breath. Now, it caught my attention because I know the lad not to be the settlin' sort. 'E's 'ad 'is flirtations, sure, but no one 'as ever truly caught 'is eye, to my knowledge. The doc'or noticed too, an' asked me if I recognised the name. I said I didn'. 'E stopped as soon as 'e started, an' 'e woke the next mornin', past the worst of it."
Elizabeth licked her lips, her mouth suddenly dry. She wasn't sure if she wanted to know. Obviously Jack had had his fair share of women, but to think that one would leave her mark enough for him to speak her name during his delusions. But of course, her curiosity was too great.
"What was the name?"
The man smirked. "Lizabeth."
Tumblr media
Her face burned, and for a moment she lost herself, her mouth gaping with shock. He had spoken her name. They had parted ways, and yet he had chanted her name, calling for her, perhaps dreaming of her under the heavy sleep of fever. What could that mean, besides...?
Pulling her lips into a pout of indignation, she stepped back sharply. "Common enough name. No doubt the whorehouses of Tortuga are teaming with Elizabeths and Lizzys and Elizas and... I'd thank you not to look at me that way." She snapped at his knowing gaze. "And to keep any gossiping thoughts to yourself."
The man mimicked drawing a line across his lips in an oath of silence. "Believe me, Miss, with all that goes on 'ere, that would be one of the more mundane tidbits, anyway."
Still not convinced, she asked warily. "What is your name?"
"Perkins, Miss." He didn't bow, as the gentlemen of Port Royal would have. This was the Kingdom of Pirates, after all. "Pleasure's all mine."
She nodded her head curtly. "Thank you for replacing the bed. I think... I shall sleep now."
The bid him goodnight, locking the door behind him.
Sitting heavily onto the bed, the mattress dipping dangerously off the side of the bed-frame, she thought about all she had learnt that night. She imagined Jack, in this very room, as a young boy desperate to follow the call of the sea, until the urge had been too strong to resist any longer. She imagined him on this bed, writhing in agony while a doctor pulled the bullets from his chest. So much blood had been lost. How on earth had he survived? She imagined him bathed in sweat, sleeping in the bloodstains of his last visit, chanting for her, calling for her. She imagined herself, water bowl in hand, dabbing with a cloth at his brow, soothing him. Clinging to his hand as the doctor performed his crude surgery on his wounds. Stroking his hair as the wounds were cleaned with precious rum, and cauterised with red hot metal. She imagined them both, in this bed, whispering to each other...
Oh, you hussy. Her husband not but a few hours gone, and already she was picturing herself with another man. And not just any man. That man.
Tumblr media
God, ten years was a long time, indeed. Her body had been awakened to sensual realities of womanhood, and she knew that she couldn't wait ten years. But as for him... no, she'd have to steer clear of him. Jack was as much a danger to her heart as to her body. He would worm his way into her heart, and stay there. And she must protect Will's heart, above all else. Protect it within her own.
But as for physical pleasure... she resolved again to find a way of communicating with Calypso. After all, all men took lovers, why not a Pirate King?
Removing her heavily armoured coat and belt, she slipped beneath the covers in her black dress, placing her effects on the ground, within easy reach. Glancing again to check the lock of the door, her hand skimmed over her thighs, her fingers travelling to that secret part of her. A part of her still sore from her hasty honeymoon. Flashes of images raced through her mind as she touched herself. A pair of dark, kind eyes. Strong, calloused hands on her bare waist. Her fingers tracing over a scar on a man's chest. Soft, greedy lips tasting her own. A wry smirk. A glint of gold.
Tipping herself into ecstasy, she let the night take her, and let her exhaustion claim her.

@orionredstarr replied to your post Fanfic Day Meme....
Which ever one YOU prefer or ALL!!
You asked for it =)
3. What inspired In a Bottle?
Many, many things. I was watching and reading a lot of Game of Thrones so the House of Black and White was a big inspiration for Lizzie’s time in Peru. I’m also a big sucker for fantasy adventures of all sorts and POTC lends itself to the mystical magical history of the world.
4. Do you prefer writing long or short fics?
I started out writing multi-chapter epics, but have more recently found a love for  the shorter fics and capturing a single moment.
5. What’s your favorite head cannon you use in fics?
Mainly that Jack and Elizabeth stayed close after the events of AWE. Elizabeth having set up shop in Shipwreck Cove and Jack being a frequent visitor, they can be found sailing together quite a bit.
6. What’s the detail you wait on bated breath for Readers to notice?
More often than not, it’s an exchange of dialogue that I happen to be fond of, or sometimes a particular interaction between characters.
7. How much do you like symbolism in your fics?
I like it if its appropriate. Symbolism for it’s own sake never works out for me.
8. How often do people catch on to your details?
Often enough. I don’t like to play games with my readers.
9. What’s the fit you like the least?
My very first, which cannot be found because it has long since been deleted. I was new to fanfic, new to writing, the development was poor and it was just horrible.
10. What would you change if you had it all to do again?
I would have made a solid outline for In a Bottle. I found myself chasing my tail and writing myself out of corners so often. I even had to go back and rewrite some things because of continuity issues. I’m fully invested in outlines now.
12. What’s the hardest thing to write?
Endings. Always Endings.
13.  Do you have a favorite character to write for?
Elizabeth Swann.
15. A snippet from a WIP....
Sorry, you’ll have to wait....LOL.

C1: HONEYMOON ISLAND 4#
“You were never one for settlin’, love. You’re a wild thing, as untameable as the sea. Perhaps he’s finally realised that. You should be free to roam and do as you please, take what you want, go where you may, no husband there to stifle you.”
Tumblr media
“Actually, he refused to sign so that I may, if I wish, marry another.”
Jack rolled his eyes. “How very noble of him. Tell me, love, I’m curious, at what point did he decide to allow you to remain a free woman? Before or after consummating your union?”
“Jack.” She snapped.
Jack whipped his head round with an uncomfortable twitch of his nose. It had always amazed him, how she could silence him with just a glance, or the bark of his name.
Tumblr media
Her voice softer now, she looked down at her hands, sadness overwhelming her as she fought to control it. “He is still my husband, Jack. I love him and I shall wait for him. I will be here ten years from now, and until then, I shall keep his heart safe. I can’t condemn Will to Davy Jones’ fate, after all he has done.”
“Ten years is a long time, love.”
She chewed on her lip, sinking down into the sand. Jack followed, handing her the rum bottle. She took a long, gratifying swig.
He couldn’t help but watch her, the fading blue light as sunset dipped into the night making her skin glow, pearl-like.
“I am a selfish woman, always have been.” She handed the bottle back to Jack, doodling shapes in the sand with her finger.

“Pirate.” Jack muttered.
“Yes. Is it unforgivable of me, that what I want most right now, is to try and find out all I can about the... details of what Will’s curse entails? And... more specifically, what is required of me?"
“Since when have you come to me for moral guidance?” He sniggered, leaning dangerously close. “I do recall a time, not so long ago, when you named my lack of a moral compass as one of the key differences between you and I.”
“I was but a girl, then. Realising what I wanted, but not yet accepting what I am. Or what I am capable of.”
“And now?”
She shook her head sadly.
“As you said, ten years is a long time, Jack.”
“Aye, ’tis, love, ’tis. And you well know my thoughts on your moral predicament. Not that you’ve ever needed my permission to do anything you set your mind to, Lizzie, love.”
She pursed her lips, something suddenly occurring to her. “You never did explain why you came ashore. And where is your ship? Oh!” She gripped his forearm. “Barbossa?”
“The Pearl is anchored alongside your Empress, under the careful watch of Gibbs. But I’m touched at your concern... or offended that you would so easily assume that that stinking codpiece could make off with me ship again. Like I wouldn’t learn from prior mistakes. Barbossa is currently in the brig, it being the only place I can trust him to keep out of me way, and I’ll be promptly dropping him off at Tortuga, first chance. As for why I am here, a handful of me crew are refilling our supply of drinking water as we speak. This is the only spot where we can do so for miles around, though it would have been an easier task during daylight, but tell the truth, none of us much fancied facing the wrath incurred from interrupting our Pirate King and the Captain of the Dutchman during such... passionate moments.” He smiled knowingly.
Her eyes widened in sudden alarm. “You haven’t been... lingering, have you?”
Tumblr media
“Me, love?” He cried in mock indignation. “Many things I may be, but a peeping Tom, I am not! No, we kept our distance until the tell-tale flash of green.” He waved vaguely towards the horizon. “And, truth be told, there is another reason why I in particular was so keen to come ashore.” He leaned towards her, eyes burning, reading her so perfectly, and she found herself unable to look at her. “Are you alright, love?”
He spoke so softly, so unexpectedly, that words broke her, like taking an axe to a locked door, and a torrent swept through, uncontrollable, sobs wracking through her as she couldn’t hold it in anymore. Too much had happened. Will, James, her father. Jack. Silently, he pulled her into his arms, for once, nothing suggestive in his actions.
“It’s alright, love.” He whispered through her hair. “Let it out. You’ll be all the stronger for it.”
She sobbed, clinging to him, for what felt like hours, until her through was hoarse and sore, her eyes swollen almost shut. Jack’s shirt was drenched with her tears, and yet, despite typically being a man uncomfortable with the emotions of women, he didn’t say a word, didn’t urge her to stop, or complain that they each had a crew they needed to return to. Nothing else mattered, but making sure that she was alright, and that all of her pain was spent through her tears.

C1: HONEYMOON ISLAND 3#
The chest still clutched tight against her, she turned to retrieve her coat; the temperature would drop quickly, now that the sun had dipped below the seas. She had to find her crew, her ship.
She couldn’t help but notice the other ship missing from the horizon. How quickly had they weighed anchor and sailed away into the distance, away from her? She shuddered sadly. The Pearl had been such a part of her life for the past two or three years. She had fought there, lived there, married there, sounded her battle cries and rallied her army there. She had become her own. Not alone, of course. No, she had had help to escape the confines society had laid upon her, the hours of practice with a sword amongst the dust of the blacksmith shop with Will, the wise tutoring of Barbossa, and a pair of dark, haunting eyes which seemed to see her truly for what she was. Pirate. For all his teasing and lies and mischief, no other had helped her more to realise her true self, perhaps, than-
A flash of movement caught her eye, and she glanced to the left, letting out a gasp.
“Jack!”
A gold-toothed grin greeted her as the pirate came into view from beyond the rocks, his hips swaying almost effeminately with that signature swagger. One hand tucked into his sash, the other gripping an open bottle of rum, he didn’t react as she ran towards him, abandoning Will’s chest atop the rocks.

Throwing her arms around his neck, she hugged him tight. Hesitating a moment, his fingers rippling with indecision, he tapped her on the arms, urging her to take a step back.
“None of that now, love, tempting though you are in that dress, if it can be called such a thing.” He eyed her greedily. “Else that husband of yours will have me guts for garters... and I’d rather stay on the right side of the new Captain of The Flying Dutchman, if I can help it.”
“What has happened?” She asked, ignoring his teasing. “Why are you here? The Empress-?”
“Is awaiting her Captain just yonder, as instructed. You’ve got yourself a loyal crew, Captain Swann...” He held up his hands, realising his error, and with a smirk, corrected, “Captain Turner.”
She smiled, though it did not reach her eyes. “Captain Turner is aboard the Dutchman. I would have myself be known as Captain Swann.”

Jack raised a curious brow. “Honeymoon over so soon, darlin’?”
“Literally, yes.” She turned again towards the empty horizon, hugging herself. “But Will and I are married. All but legally.” She heard him take a step closer, until they stood side by side. Taking the folded parchment from her dress, she handed it to him.
Jack read, taking a long swig of his rum as he did so.
“Will is far too good a man for the likes of me. Always was.”
Jack smirked, handing her back the incomplete marriage certificate.
“He refused to sign.” Elizabeth explained.
This surprised Jack. After years of chasing her, pining for her, the whelp had let her go, Elizabeth Swann, siren of the seas, as easily as that? And assumedly, after having... Perhaps there was hope for him as a pirate, yet.
