Brilliant, blinding blue light flooded Obi-Wan’s vision as he held his saber to Anakin’s unprotected throat.  “Yield,” he panted heavily, watching intently as sweat dripped from his forehead onto Anakin’s collarbone.   Anakin’s lip curled viciously, his neck arched uncomfortably to avoid the scorching heat of Obi-Wan’s blade.  Terse silence hung between them, slick with perspiration and the scent of sweat, and for a moment, Obi-Wan wondered if Anakin was going to turn the tables in an impressive feat of acrobatics and impossibility. This is for @topwan-obikin's upcoming fest! I absolutely snagged a prompt weeks ago, promptly forgot about it, and then speed ran it in three days. Yes, I wrote 6k words in three days...

The raspy greeting shocked Obi-Wan out of his scandalous stupor.  Scrambling to back away, he tripped over his own foot, barely catching himself before he collapsed to the floor.  It was ungainly, reminiscent of someone who had forgotten how to properly put one foot in front of the other after imbibing in one drink too many.  His back hit the—now closed—door behind him with a definitive thump. “I…ah, I—I wasn’t…”  Obi-Wan licked his lips and trailed off nervously. That was a lie. He had been.  His traitorous cock had absolutely swelled against the seam of his trousers at the bewitching sight of his former padawan’s self-pleasure. Obi-Wan was a hypocrite. He was an abysmal Master, an utter disgrace to the Jedi, a terrible— “You weren’t…?”  Anakin prompted, the frustratingly arrogant tone stopping the self-flagellating spiral in its tracks.  “You’ve already used that excuse—rather poorly I might add.  Try again.”

Master Windu squeezed his shoulder firmly.  “We saved the Chancellor, that’s the important thing.  Skywalker will understand.  Now, let’s get you back to the Temple so that we can rid you of that ugly mug.  I’m tired of looking at it.  Even if your real face is only marginally better.” Obi-Wan forced a crooked smile onto his face in response to the barb.  But his thoughts were far, far away, in a speeder being driven at reckless speeds by a man with golden curls and a stony expression. Deep down, Obi-Wan knew that he had made a fatal, grievous error in judgment.  One that might very well cost him the most important friendship in his life. Could Anakin understand?

He looked up at the sound of his voice, catching the coy look Anakin tossed over his shoulder. Obi-Wan froze at the casual address; whatever Anakin had to say was likely to bring about the obliteration of his already tattered sanity.  “Y—yes?” “I…” Anakin trailed off, pointedly drawing out the pregnant pause.   Inhaling sharply, Obi-Wan’s muscles reflexively tensed. A pink tongue poked out between spit-wet lips and slowly traced the tip of pearly white teeth. Obi-Wan swallowed, saliva becoming uncomfortably lodged in the back of his throat.

Hello folx! After a brief hiatus, I'm finally back with WIP Wednesday!

This weeks snippet is from my submission for @topwan-obikin's Topwan Obikin Fest. Enjoy!

Deep down, Obi-Wan knew that the indignation currently making his surroundings seem overly distinct was wrong.  Afterall, every Master dreaded their padawan’s first crush.  Because most times, their attention—idolization misconstrued as infatuation—was directed towards their own mentors.  The resulting conversation was always cumbersome and humiliating, leaving the pair ill-footed.   Obi-Wan should be glad that he had somehow skirted that particular right of passage for a Master. And he wasn’t.  Far from, actually. Besides that, Anakin was a minor, only fifteen standard years of age.  It was downright inappropriate for Obi-Wan to want his padawan’s eyes on him, and him only.

🦋Making of Monday!!! 🦋

The fantastic @palfriendpatine66 had this lovely idea (see this post), and I was eager to jump on board! Sometimes, I feel a bit... self-conscious about my writing process, because it can be a bit chaotic. You know... the whole imposter thing; I'm not a real writer because my process isn't nice and tidy and clean. Sound familiar to anyone?!

Lets change that!

I just started a new WIP (Escort/Never a Jedi AU anyone 👀), so I'll share what the process of starting a new WIP for me usually looks like!

Typically, when I have an idea for a new fic I'd like to write, I'll throw the prompt into the title for a new Google Doc, adding any ideas to the document itself, and save it in my "in progress folder". I may or may not be ready to start working on it, but I'll have my ideas jotted down for if and when I'm ready to give it a shot.

When I'm ready to start writing, I'll usually just have at it. Might not start from the beginning of the fic, but start writing from a point where I've had inspiration. I might not even end up keeping this piece, but it serves as a little... warm up for the specific fic, if you will.

This allows me to get a feel for the prompt, and to start generating ideas to fill in the fic, outside of the initial point of inspiration. At this point, I'll usually stop writing, and generate an outline. And when I say outline... it's nothing special. Just a point-form list of the things I want to hit while writing, in the order I want to hit them. This allows me to see where I've got gaps, and to make sure I touch on all the things that I want to. It also helps me see places where I might have too much clutter—in this case, I'll decide what I want to keep, and throw the other ideas into a document for future works. As I work on the piece, I'll remove bullet points as I hit them (or as I decide they are unnecessary).

At this point... there's no rhyme or reason for my process. I just riff on my ideas. When I write, I'm not going for a style or rhythm. I'm just trying to get the words on the page. It's messy, not grammatically correct, and often bulky, but it doesn't matter. I actually really like sprinting for this reason... when challenged with a clock, I'm less focused on making things "perfect", and more focused on just having fun with the prompt.

I do have a process I go through with editing too, but I thought I'd save that for next week!
