God I'm thinking about Arjuna having an appearance in Fate/Samurai Remnant and like...Arjuna and Miyamoto Iori interactions would be really interesting to see, esp if the game in some way has Arjuna acknowledge some parallels/similarities with his son Abhimanyu or with Vrishaketu, the youngest son of Karna he took on as a student after the Kurukshetra War....

A while back I ran numbers on my own fics right? Checking the hits/comment ratio. A friend of mine also did it for his own fics. Admitedly I don't remember exactly what my friend got but I think we got roughly the same results, ie: About 1% of the people who read a fic leave a comment behind.
This is mostly consistent across fandoms, though there are noticeable exceptions. I was personally extremely surprised to see that one of the worst commenting fandoms was Fate/Grand Order, which stood at a miserable 0,60% of comment/hit. Meaning that for every hundred people reading a fic, you're not even sure to get a single comment. That was doubly surprising because my Fate/Stay Night fics, which are part of the same serie, have a normal hit/comment ratio (actually much higher, 1,30% which is the highest of all fandoms I've ran this experiment for.)
I didn't really think much of it at the time, but recently I got chatting with a friend (who is like me a frequent filler for the nasu kinkmeme) about how there's a fuckton of fgo prompts, but very few people who actually fill them. So I had a theory, which I tested by running some numbers on random arknight fics on ao3. Spoiler: They also had an abyssimal hit/comment ratio (about 0,40%)
So my theory is thus: low level engagement/high demand for content is a gacha fandom issue. I sadly don't know enough about gacha culture to really hazard an explanation. Normally when a game is appreciated by normies who don't do fandom, that translates to a low hit count but the same percentage of comments for fanfics. Maybe gachas introduce people who don't normally do fandom to the concept of fanart & fanfic, so they don't know fandom etiquette yet? Maybe that's just the kind of culture normally birthed by games that encourage you to simp for a given character that isn't usually the focus of the story so you gotta outsource to find more of them?
I don't really have a point with this post, I just thought this was a very interesting fandom trend. Because the specific fandom behavior of "demands lots of stuff but refuses to comment or reblog or support artists" is one I've only ever seen before for like, kids shows, or generally demographics which attracts very young people who haven't grown up surrounded by "hey fic writers love comments you should comment" psa, so I find it really surprising to see that same behavior for a game where the target audience are adults with money.
Obligatory disclaimers:
I ran my arknights numbers on the top ten most read, english, non-crossover fics on ao3. If that didn't represent accurately the arknights demographics then whoops sorry.
These observations are made about the english-speaking side of fandom. Maybe people are more appreciative on pixiv fics idk I didn't check.
I am not a sociologist, I just notice trends and like to analyse them.

Hello gang.
I know I've been MIA for a bit, and while I am sorry for that... I wanted to go ahead and say definitively that it's probably going to be a while before I come back. Lots of stuff's been going on recently that's had me in a pretty rotten mental state. Roleplay-wise, I've kind of been taking an extended stay on a discord server I've reblogged the promo for once before. It's an Honkai star rail server that they let me write The Doctor on, so I've kind of been going crazy with my writing there. That being said, I wanted to post a general update. Under the cut is a few things that I've been going on with me. I'll start with fun stuff and then not-so-fun stuff, all of it under the cut! Thanks for those showing patience with me. I'll be back eventually. My attention is just hard to divide right now, and I'm trying to take it easy. For now, at least.
The Fun Stuff
I've recently updated a couple of my voice claims for various characters. In the past, I've said I don't really like using Canon Doctor's (or canon Doctor Surrogates) as voice claims, same goes for The Master. The exception to this of course was The War Doctor & The War Master, who still shared voice claims with John Hurt & Derek Jacobi respectively. That was mostly because their portrayals inspired most of this au, or at least my takes on those characters specifically. However, recently I've been changing my tune a bit. I consider these versions AU versions of the canon interpretations, with some twists and design divergences to make them more unique, so I've been coming around to it. When discussions of voice claims were prompted in the server, I made an edit of the Scarf Doctor with Paul McGann's voice. Ever since then, I've been using my "voice claim edits" to expose some of the Doctor Who peeps I've met on the server to Big Finish. As well as using it to expose other folks to Doctor Who in general. It works, for the most part. So I figured I'd share those edits here. I have War Doctor edits as well, but unfortunately, they are too big for the streaming service I use.
First up, we have two edits for The Scarf Doctor. One is taken from an excerpt of The Eighth Doctor & The Dalek Time Strategist from Time War 4. The Eighth Doctor Time War sets were exceptionally good. Some stories were hit-and-miss, but I enjoyed Restoration of The Daleks. My second edit features Alex MacQueen's take on The Master, as I made a version of The Master for that server (which's now been ported here) that I'm referring to as "The Maestro Master", but only because he uses Salieri from FGO as a face claim. EDIT 1 | EDIT 2
Before I made The Maestro Master, though, I made an edit for The War Master. Some folks asked me for voice claim headcanons for his incarnation as well, as I've sort of been encouraged to step out of my shell by these folks. They encourage me to ramble about my lore and make edits, hence why I've made so many. So when they asked for a War Master voice claim, I did just that. This excerpt is taken from Beneath The Viscoid's ending, so spoilers. EDIT
My most recent edit was of The Bond Doctor, which I decided to use Tim Treloar for, as his interpretation of Three inspired Bond more than Pertwee did. This was made for someone writing Ruan Mei, as her and Bond are a ship I've been exploring recently. This was taken from the Doctor's first scene in Intelligence for War, a story I really enjoyed. EDIT
Next up IS a new intro. I made this since on the server, I'm plotting out The Scarf Doctor & Natasha as a pre-time war duo. The Scarf Doctor's got some interesting stuff going on on the server. He's exploring a complicated relationship with Jing Yuan, who knows a future incarnation implied to be fighting in The Time War. He's also half-siblings with Himeko (I hope nobody from the server sees this post because that technically hasn't been revealed yet but I think it's too good of a twist not to talk about) which is super fun for me because it's a fun dynamic. I've not been too interested in characters implied to be The Doctor's sibling, but this ship made me want to listen to audios featuring characters like Braxiatel and stuff. Since The Doctor has to have tweaks made to him in order to fit into the Star Rail universe (not many, really.) Her lore is unchanged, but it fits together pretty seamlessly and it's a dynamic I'm having a bit of fun writing. Here's some highlights from their dm discussions. For context, they don't know they're siblings (yet) The Doctor was already attending the academy before Himeko was born, but she wasn't born on Gallifrey. So he never really knew about her. It's interesting. He starts clocking it when she starts reminding him of his granddaughter, Stella.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's that new intro, in question.
EDIT: // I forgot to share some of the Character apps I've worked on too. I had to port the Doctor & The Master into Honkai, and while I didn't have to make any insane changes, I tried my best to make it all work. A pre-time war Doctor & Master was a bit hard to port, but I think I made it work for the most part. The general consensus is that Doctor who stuff just takes place very far away from where The Current Honkai story takes place. I was also briefly talked into picking up the Tsaritsa as an AU interpretation. While I didn't ever actually get to write her officially beyond some crack channel testing moments, I really enjoyed her character application. It was built for the purpose of providing foundation for a few other players who wanted to port their harbinger muses into Honkai. It was eventually decided by staff that it'd be best to keep the crossovers minimal, for now, but I still felt like I'd done a lot of really good work with the application. So, I might port the Tsaritsa here. I just felt like sharing her application.
The Scarf Doctor's Application The Maestro Master's ApplicationThe Tsaritsa's AU Application.
Now onto the not-fun stuff.
Genuinely, this is more of the vent segment of the post where I talk about what's been keeping me from wanting to limit my activity to Discord Only. Mostly it's just my depression, and since writing is escapism for me, I want to make it as stress free as possible. So I've just been keeping my attention on my discord threads, trying not to overwhelm myself too harshly. Metamorphosis has been great for my mental health, the community is very nice and they encourage my hyperfixation rambles, so it's been great. Shoutout to Kyu, Emi (NOT MY GIRLFRIEND, Emi, but shoutout to her too), Eva, Mika, Chibi & everyone else from the server who've been so great. I think my depressive slum would've been a lot worse if not for them. Regardless, I'm still a bit down in the dumps because my Sonic Screwdriver Prop Commissions were finally completed. After about a year of waiting, only one of the two screwdrivers I sent for refurbishment was returned. The other one was stolen by a porch pirate within an hour of being dropped off. While normally, I can handle theft pretty well, the refurbished sonic stolen has been in my collection for over ten years. It's an insanely significant piece of my childhood and it's theft was extremely heartbreaking to me. I spent a week nonstop chasing leads trying to look for it, but after failure after failure, it seems like the only way I'll replace it is by dropping $600 on a smiliar one. The value of the prop I owned has gone up immensely, so I would need to just invest in a new replica entirely.  That kind of sucks. At the very least, I have at least one of the two. I also still have the Prop Shops McGann coming sometime soon (hopefully, the original shipping date was estimated for last month, but production issues kept it from being put out on time. Though an update is coming soon.) I preordered this in October of 2023, so it's going to be pretty exciting to finally get in my hands. I'm still actively looking for work (and while it's going slower then I'd like) I'm trying my hardest to keep my head up. That's why I'm saying that eventually, I will return to Tumblr and start plotting with mutuals. I'm just sort of... taking an extended hiatus to focus on myself, my passions, and my mental health.
Insane amounts of appreciation to the people still following this blog. I want to come back with invigorated passion and muse for my Doctor's. So for now, that requires me to step back and focus on myself and my personal life. This is a hobby, but you can burn yourself out on a hobby. So I'm choosing to take it slow. I appreciate all those who do and don't understand. Thanks for reading this post, and I hope you have a good one <3

Microscopic spoilers and/or speculation for FGO (I'm probably super heckin late to this conversation) but I read a while back that the Lostbelts were 1. part of Marisbury's plan and 2. supposed to be destroyed.
Some things that occurred to me, learning this- there were Seven Lostbelts.
Now, can we think of any other rituals, where Seven entities are summoned, fight to the death, and are sacrificed to empower a ritual?

Before it gets too late I wanna make a prediction/wishlist post for when the Samurai Remnant characters get into FGO (because let's face it, that's a gaurantee at this point). Obviously this is going to be riddled with massive spoilers so if you haven't finished the game go do that first. I'm hiding Servant's True Names but for half of them the reasoning is their True Name, so be warned.
Alright here we go
Saber
This guy's getting in no matter what; they don't even need to be on this list. They're the lead Saber of a new Fate IP in addition to being a massive figure in Japanese mythology. They're going to be a five-star. They're going to be on the first banner of the event, maybe a New Year's banner but that'd be weird since they've implied they want to do a full event for this crossover.
Archer
So the way I'm envisioning the banners for the crossover event is Banner 1 being the good guys and Banner 2 being the bad (like how they do for most events), with an SSR and an SR for each. Saber's obviously the SSR for Banner 1 no matter how they do it, and I think Archer's pretty likely to be the SR for it too because he's cool enough that people will want him, and early enough in SR as to not spoil too many people. Although by the time we get these Servants I doubt they'll be too cautious about that.
Lancer
Much as I would love another Jalter alt, if this girl gets in she's gonna be a costume dress (cope). I love her but she's not different enough from Aveneger Jalter to warrant being her own unit (it would make money though). All of her characterization kinda relies on Chiemon so having her as a full Servant without him would be really weird (her being a costume dress doesn't keep them from bastardizing her character since costume dresses can also have new dialogue and we both know Lasengle at above bastardizing their characters for a quick buck).
Rider
This is gonna be the SSR for Banner 2. She's the biggest reveal in the game but only if you know Raikou, who's from FGO. She's also the only Servant on this list (barring Jalter and Gil on technicality) who Ritsuka's met before. She's getting in.
Caster
Okay I know Samurai Remnant played him up as this ultra big bad but like, no one knows who this guy is. As a Servant he's really cool but his whole deal doesn't get revealed until A Ray of Light, which is one of two final chapters you can get on a first playthrough. So even if you've between the game there's about a 50/50 chance who still don't know who this guy is, and the historical information about him is scarce. His wiki page has one paragraph. I'm betting he'll be a 3 star.
Assassin
SR for Banner 2. He's cool but Rider's obviously taking the limelight. I want him to be higher but I'm also like one of five Chiyome fans so I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the fanbase doesn't agree. Plus he's a dude, and even though Lasengle's slowly starting to realize most of their playerbase likes men, there's still a rampent gender bias when it comes to Servants.
Miyamoto Musashi
Please fo the love of god be a costume I will kill someone if you're your own unit.
The Boss
Same thing as Jalter and Musashi. If he gets in he'll be a costume, maybe two because of his fight attire. I'd gladly pay for a Ruler Gil alt but I want more costumesz
Rogue Saber
Part of me wants to say he'll be an SR because every time they've released two married Servants at seperate times they've been the same rank. That's not a hard set rule because the list of married couples in Chaldea is like 4 pairings long and only 3 of them fit the above pattern, but still. I could also see him being the White Day Servant for one year, and if that's the case he'd be an SSR, obviously.
Rogue Rider
I could totally see them making her an SSR because Tamamo makes bank but I'm willing to bet she'll be a 4 Star instead. The only true Tamamo Nine member we have is a 4 Star and Aria is a very good canidate for the welfare. I feel like if she does get in it'll be in an event that more strongly relates to Tamamo (maybe with a possible Susano'o 5 Star (heavy cope)). I'd kill them if they did but it's also totally possible for her to be the Valentine's SSR.
Rogue Berserker
I really want this guy to be a 5 Star. He's been someone I wanted in Fate since my introduction to it and I'm so glad he's finally here. I doubt he'll be added with everyone else, so I could see him being in a seperate event or even a story chapter. The former's probably the more likely scenario since we're no longer in the days where Lasengle just throws new Servants into the story as filler, but he does have a slight connection to Solomon (hazardous levels of cope) so I wouldn't be surprised.
Iori
Iori's another likely canidate for Welfare because not only his he a historical figure but he's also a cool as shit Fate protagonist and most of the protagonists have got in one way or another. Erice or Seig are good examples of what's likely to happen to him.
Ototachibana-Hime
Didn't see this one coming did you cunts? If - and that's a big if - she gets added to FGO, she's the third canidate for Welfare. She doesn't really have a strong enough prescence to warrant her own banner but I could see them still wanting to add her. Plus we need more Welfare supports, so she'd be like Iri, but not horrendously outdated.
Anyway that's it. I mostly did this to have my thoughts in writing but I'm open to discussion on what you all think. Part of me wants them to stay in SR where they're treated with dignity and won't be bastardized to hell and back for gacha but (for some fucking reason) I love FGO too much to not want them. Okay I'm gonna go back to not posting for a week while I work on the platinum for SR and grind Guda 6.

Because when the journey to Level 120 takes such a long time for a green May King of an Archer, the author wanted to reflect on the adventures in-between. While taking inspiration from 8 years of a relationship that's still ongoing.
Slight content warning for general spoilers to E Pluribus Unum/the America Singularity of Part 1 of FGO, and the SERAPH chapter of Part 1.5, by the way. With references sprinkled throughout to the SERAPH manga adaptation and Other Days stories of SERAPH mixed in. Also, Chaldea's Worst Employee of the Month making a significant cameo.
To @partialdignity, @withanina, and @teddog - thankie for reading the little beta versions I had of various scenes of this chapter. I wouldn't have finished so quickly if not for your enthusiasm. :>
To everyone else? Happy Holidays. Here's to hoping to another good year. And that Tunguska Sanctuary and everything after this wiill not be hard on my eyes because glasses prescriptions are ack.

Fate and Phantasms #272: Super Orion
Tumblr media
This is it: the endgame. Today on Fate and Phantasms, we start our way into Lostbelt #5, which is the same story segment on FGO proper is on. (I know a lot of y’all probably finished it already but we didn’t, so shush.) We’re starting off with a bang- the grand archer himself, Super Orion! He’s a Zealot Barbarian to withstand the blessings of Artemis as well as a Champion Fighter to double down on his archery skills.
What a callback though, huh? It’s been four months since we’ve made a character that didn’t have some kind of spell slots. Ironically, that build was also an archer that did tons of damage. Let’s see how Orion stacks up.
Check out his build breakdown below the cut, or his character sheet over here! Obviously, expect spoilers for Atlantis below the cut.
Next up: Sword of a cool guy.
Race and Background
Orion is part god, so that’s pretty obviously makes him an Aasimar. He doesn’t hurt himself (usually) and he won’t be in range to use the spoopy version, so we’re making him a Protector Aasimar for +1 Strength and +2 Wisdom. He also gets Darkvision, Celestial Resistance to radiant damage (not like that’d stop his wife), the Light cantrip since he’s made of stars, and Healing Hands. That means once a long rest you can give a creature your level in HP as an action. That’s not a ton, but it’ll help out if you ever hit 0. Big if.
Orion is an Outlander, a hunter with proficiency in Athletics to help with the checks since we can’t focus on strength too much here, and Survival to track prey. I’d say you’re more of a “obliterate everything in the forest” kind of guy, but tracking’s good too.
And while we’re here, we’re actually going to do something a little weird. Remember Theros?
For those of you who don’t, that was a D&D setbook a while back that introduced the Piety mechanic. Essentially, you scratch a god’s back, they give you phenomenal cosmic power. I swear I used it once or twice when it first came out, but now that we’re in the Greek Lostbelt it just makes sense to give it another shot.
So, what god are we going with? Nylea, goddess of the hunt, right? Ha ha, WRONG. Nylea hates people who hunt for sport, so she’d skewer Orion before he even said hi. Instead, we’re going with Purphoros, god of the forge and the one closest to a Hephaestus analog. Why? Because Orion refused the Hephaestus Klironomia, saying he was tanky enough without it. That means he’s as tough as a regular person using Hephaestus Kilronomia- if we want the build to match up, that’s what we need.
You usually get 1 point of piety per session if you’re staying within your god’s guidelines, so what do you get for it? At 3+ piety, you can cast Shield of Faith for free once a day and learn the Mending cantrip. More AC is never going out of style. At 10+, you can cast Heat Metal once a day using your Intelligence, making this spell both out of character and pretty weak. You also have advantage against being knocked prone, which is more up your ally. At 25+, you can use your reaction to prevent being pushed by an effect while standing. Just- just look at Orion. That guy’s not going anywhere. Finally, at 50+, you can bump your Strength up by 2. Or your intelligence, but… no.
Just in case you still have misgivings, let’s take a look at how you gain or lose piety in Theros. Obviously adapting it to another game will change your rules, but I can’t control what your DM does, and ultimately this is an optional part of the build anyway.
Fighting those who would rule over others. Absolutely. Taking action on an impulse. Yes. Destroying something that outlived its usefulness. Yes. Creating something in Purphoros’ name?
Meh. Two out of three isn’t bad.
To avoid losing piety, don’t follow unjust laws, don’t create something shoddy, and don’t back down from a fight. 3/3.
Ability Scores
If you want to make a grand servant, it helps to minmax a bit. Use point buy and set Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution to 15, and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma to 8. You have the body of a Greek god, but the head of a teddy bear. I think it might have something to do with your blood constantly getting cut off around the neck, idk.
Class Levels
Barbarian 1: Starting off as a barbarian makes you super beefy. You get proficiency in Strength and Constitution saves as well as two skills. You’re pretty good at intimidation, and you can’t hit something without seeing it, so Perception is a good choice too. As far as your actual features go, Rage is… a mixed bag. The advantage on strength checks and saves is nice since we can’t quite boost those to where they should be, but the extra damage for melee attacks is completely wasted on an archer. That being said, the resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage is very well appreciated. As an archer, you can fight well outside the range of most spells, which means those three damage types are by far the most likely for you to deal with if you’re playing to your strengths. This also means you’ll probably have to be more aggressive while raging, since it’ll end before its usual minute limit if you aren’t attacking someone or taking damage. Currently you can rage twice a day, but that’ll go up as you level. A belt is not armor, so it’s a good thing you have Unarmored Defense, adding your constitution modifier to your usual AC calculation. That means your AC is currently 14, which is pretty good for an archer.
Barbarian 2: A second level barbarian can use a Reckless Attack to gain advantage on all their attacks for a turn, at the cost of giving advantage to their attackers for the round. Sadly, this also doesn’t work on ranged attacks, though it is a good boost in power for your club. Instead, you can use your Danger Sense for advantage on dexterity saves caused by things you can see. Fireballs, traps, dragon breath, that sort of thing. Somehow I don’t think taking quarter damage from an orbital cannon will help much, but you never know.
Barbarian 3: At third level you gain proficiency in another barbarian skill thanks to Primal Knowledge. There’re two skills from the list you don’t have yet, and you get this twice. Not hard to figure out what to pick. You also activate your Radiant Soul at this level, so you can fly for a minute per day, dealing extra radiant damage once a turn. To be fair, you don’t fly. But your wife does, so ask for a pick me up. By your neck. You’ve got a lot of constitution, so it’s probably fine. If it isn’t, thank goodness you’re a Zealot. That means you’re a Warrior of the Gods so you can be resurrected for free. We had to get you back to Chaldea somehow. Also, your Divine Fury adds more radiant damage to the first attack you make each turn while raging. Another reason zealot’s so great for Orion: unlike most barb classes, Zealot doesn’t care if you use ranged weapons.
Barbarian 4: For your first Ability Score Improvement, round up your Dexterity and Constitution. A lot happens when you do this. You get four more HP since that changes retroactively, you deal more damage with your arrows, and your AC pops up by 2. That makes your skin about as tough as most heavy armor sets.
Barbarian 5: Fifth level get an Extra Attack each action, so that’s two each turn. Your Fast Movement also increases your walking speed by 10’, so whether you need to close in on your quarry or stay out of a rampaging god’s way, you’ll be covered.
Fighter 1: Barbarians don’t get more attacks, so if we want even more damage, we can do that in fighter. At first level you get a Fighting Style, and since you’re the archer, you get the Archery. That’s a +2 to every attack roll you make with a ranged weapon. Plus, you can use your bonus action to find a Second Wind, healing you for a little bit once a short rest. It’s not a huge amount, but humans are endurance predators, so I’m sure you can make it last.
Fighter 2: Second level fighters can use an Action Surge to take a second action once a short rest. We can’t get more attacks per action, but more actions per turn is totally doable.
Fighter 3: At third level you become a Champion, giving you Improved Critical. Now you deal critical damage on a 19 or a 20, effectively increasing your critical hit chance permanently just as much as a reckless attack would, with no downside and no restriction against ranged weapon. And if you use your club recklessly, you’ll have a 1/5 chance of dealing a critical hit. It’s almost like Orion is good at dealing critical hits or something, wild.
Fighter 4: Use this ASI to bump your Dexterity up again for a stronger AC and offense. It’s a simple level, but this is a simple build.
Barbarian 6: Back in your main class, you gain a Fanatical Focus, so you can re-roll a failed save once per rage. I’m sure Artemis must have tried the brain thing on you once or twice before Chaldea showed up, right?
Barbarian 7: Seventh level barbs have a Feral Instinct that gives you advantage on initiative rolls. You don’t get much time to wait around when a deer’s about to bolt, after all. Also, you can use an Instinctive Pounce when you start raging so you move up to half your movement speed. Again, whether you’re getting closer or further from the enemy it’s very useful.
Barbarian 8: With this ASI, we max out your Dexterity for the most accurate shots and best initiative rolls we can get. Also, your AC is now 18, which is the best kind of armor you can get, usually.
Barbarian 9: Ninth level barbarians have a Brutal Critical, adding an extra die to the doubled damage caused by a critical hit. Remember how you deal more crits than most people? This is why that’s good.
Barbarian 10: A tenth level zealot has a Zealous Presence that inspires nearby creatures. When you start to rage, you give up to 10 other creatures advantage on attacks and saves for a round. This doesn’t work on you though, so your bow is still stuck without a way to get advantage normally. Also, you’re an archer. You’re usually several hundred feet away from the fight. Eh. If you end up on the front lines, it’ll be useful.
Barbarian 11: Eleventh level barbarians can go into a Relentless Rage, meaning you can avoid dying while raging by making a DC 10 constitution save. If you succeed, the DC goes up by five ‘til you finish a long rest and you stay alive at 1 HP.
Barbarian 12: Use this ASI to finally pick up the Sharpshooter feat. It lets you fire at long range without disadvantage, ignore all but full cover, and you can take a -5 attack penalty for a +10 damage bonus. No archer is complete without it!
Barbarian 13: Thirteenth level barbarians get a second die added to their brutal critical. Brutal.
Barbarian 14: A fourteenth level zealot can Rage Beyond Death. Essentially, while all other rules apply once you hit 0 HP (death rolls, dying outright if you lose 3 times, etc.) you don’t actually hit the ground until you stop raging. Plus, if you get healed before the rage is over, it’s like you never got knocked down at all. That means you’ve got a good five minutes of life before that bow you’re using liquefies everything from the shoulder down, so you’d better shoot your wife before that time limit’s up, buddy.
Barbarian 15: Fifteenth level barbarians have a Persistent Rage, so their rage can’t end early unless they will it. That rage might literally be the only thing keeping you alive at times, so it’s best you hold onto it as hard as you can.
Barbarian 16: Our final level of the build is the Tough feat for an additional 40 HP. Like you need it.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
You didn't really need that extra HP, but dear god is it good for you. You have 240 HP, and an AC rivaling heavy armor. To put that in perspective, 120 HP in light armor is usually considered good for an archer. Not only do you have double the HP, but you double up even further with Rage, giving you a silly amount of HP people have to chew through from a football field away. And that doesn't even touch on the healing you've got or the rage!
You can also deal a ton of damage with that bow of yours, with sharpshooter, radiant soul, and divine fury coming together to deal 2d8+43 damage with one arrow. Radiant soul lasts a minute, but that's pretty much an entire battle once a day, and that's assuming your expanding crit damage doesn't come into play. If it does, you're dealing 6d8 damage, kinda-sorta a fireball from one arrow.
A bow n arrow barb is a surprisingly good build, at least defensively. Your extra range makes it hard for anyone who isn't also an archer to hit you, and that mobility that helps most barbarians close the gap also helps you keep that gap wide open so a majority of monsters turn into a non-issue. And if you need to swap to melee you've already got a ton of features ready to ruin whatever monk got the drop on you.
Cons:
I know I just put a positive spin on it, but having features that only work in melee on a ranged fighter also kind of sucks! You have a couple whole levels that give you nothing new to work with unless your gameplan goes wrong, which might not be the most fun way to play the class.
If you do get within spellcasting range, your soft stats all but guarantee you'll get mind controlled, mind blanked, or banished to another plane. Plus you're not smart or charming, so doing stuff out of combat might be difficult if you can't convince your wife to help out.
You've got a one track mind in terms of damage. And as a character, but that's not a problem with the build. Basically, you have no magical weapons, and the only non-weapon damage you deal is Radiant. If you actually ended up fighting your god-tiered wife, odds are it wouldn't go in your favor even if your own weapon didn't roast you on the spot.

Two Dumb FGO × Obey Me! Memes
I saw ads for the new Obey Me game, Nightbringer, and I decided to check it out. I love it. It's pure chaos. I was already familiar with the characters from the original game, but I prefer the gameplay and main menu here. Also, the brothers aren't texting us a million times per day.
Anyway, have some memes to celebrate this renewed obsession of mine (and feel free to check the ending tags for more info-dumping).
Note: The first one may be a bit of a spoiler for FGO players who haven't cleared Part 1. View at your own risk. The second one should be okay, though.

All this talk about the fate series you’ve engaged in has piqued my interest. If I were to dive into the series with no knowledge about it whatsoever, where would you recommend I start? I’m a huge mythology fan, so I’m sure I’d just eat it up. Speaking of which, I learned a bit about the legend of Cu Chulainn that makes me especially interested in him. In the original Celtic folktale, he goes to Mag Mell (the Celtic afterlife), and meets a priestess named Scathach, who gives him an indestructible spear named Gae Bolg (it’s Gaelic for “belly dart”). The spear is so heavily barbed that when it’s shoved into a creature, he only way to remove it is to use a bladed weapon of some sort to literally carve it out of them. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s also poisoned. Celtic folklore is wild.
Oh boy...
Gonna tag @avalonblue12 since he helped me out with Fate a bit in the beginning.
So...I'm going to offer two quick suggestions and expand on why this question has haunted this fanbase for so long.
If you want to get into Fate the purest (and best in my opinion) way possible, try this guy's Let's Play of the first route of the visual novel (THE HOLY GRAIL WAR - Fate/stay night - 1 [Prologue] - YouTube) Or this one if you don't like commentary (Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel Fate Route Day 1 Part 1 (No Commentary)(English) - YouTube) Be warned, the visual novel does not have voiced narratin and is in Japanese.
If you don't care about spoilers or such, try Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works by ufotable.
But in truth, you can start just about anywhere that isn't Hollow Atraxia, Fate/Extra: Last Encore or Fate/Extella because many entries assume you don't know the basics and these are direct sequels.
I suggested those above because they pertain to the original Fate/Stay Night, whose influence is felt throughout the whole franchise.
(More below)
So...why is this question such a hard one to answer for Fate fans?
Well, Fate is an infamously dense series that has a lot of interconnecting elements and ideas along with a deep magic system. Meaning that you can get the general idea easily...but things are so much better when you have knowledge of the series. For example, a certain character in Fate Apocrypha (a spin off) is rather compelling and engaging but with knowledge of one of the heroines in FSN, it adds another layer to her character.
So, I would recommend getting in through the Visual Novel somehow...but the visual novel is a huge time commitment and it might not be to your tastes. So you'd think there would be an anime or something to watch right?
Well, there is...with two problems.
1- Ufotable has only adapted Heaven's Feel and Unlimited Blade Works, the third and second routes. Fate, the first route which acts as the primer as well, only has an adaptation by Studio DEEN and it's kind of divisive.
and 2- The animes all have one issue- They don't have the inner monologue of Shirou, the protagonist. This is important because a lot of what is needed to understand Shirou is IN his monologues. Without them, it becomes very easy to misunderstand Shirou. To the point that the divide around him is basically between those who have and haven't read the original VN.
So while you can get in however you want and it is VERY MUCH worth the investment- getting the best introduction is hard.
"Well, how did you get into Fate?"
The doujins.
... No, really. I found some FGO doujins (ironically enough, based on Fate's Scathach) and I got interested in the series so I kind of just...flailed around until I ended up on the other end of the series. I still don't know how it happened.
If you're still reading this, even if I turned you off- I'd like to say what I think is Fate's greatest strength. And I believe that it's Nasu's writing. Or rather, the bittersweet way he writes. It really pulls on the heartstrings while making you feel satisfied by the journey.
I really do hope you try it out, as I can't recommend it enough.

FGO Women of Argatha was messy Part 1
But I liked it anyway. And i had so much to say that this is gonna a be a three parter. Let me get the things out of the way which were *problematic* and then hear me defend some of those choices anyway in part 2 because they resonated with me. But seriously - I absolutely get if any of the following things are dealbreakers
Spoiler Ramblings under the cut
So Women of Argatha (WOA) wants to say something about gender, slavery and colonization and it does this with the most yikesy metaphor available ~IMAGINE IF MEN WERE SUBJUGATED~ And it is so terrible that they are killed/caught on sight and they have to form a resistance because if someone is subjugated they are beaten in public and killed on a daily basis and never ever treated right.
So I don't have to tell anyone that this is not how patriachy works. And it puts you in the mindset were the poor men have to defeat the evil/crazy women. The funny thing is that there is still sexism towards women in this story even from the good side. If you make supression to cartoonishly evil you cannot recognize it anymore... and to make the point the series wants to make it really should have taken another metaphor (but i will come back to this once i talk about the good stuff because the twist at the end makes it kinda work for me)
2. Fergus exists and he doesn't shut up. It doesn't matter how evil the women get - he cannot fight against them. It becomes funny at some point - and maybe its caricature IDK (So get ready for benevolent sexism)
3. Why do the child characters in FGO always dress in a way that makes me feel like i should be on a watchlist somewhere for playing it. Empress Wu Zetian has an interesting concept but her character design is SHIT!
4. It is certainly a choice to make the evil mastermind behind everything the only Black woman in the cast. And i get why but it implies still a lot of not good things.

FFxiv Write 2023 Master list
Had not done continuous chapters in years. Took on this challenge to use some of the notes, partially done fics, scene descriptions in my notebooks. Had to go short story and summary/narrative (?) format due to lack of of a coherent chapter transition point and there being other little scenes in between those as well -_-'
If anything I cleared out a good chunk of my notes. Though some like Mor Dhona Days(ARR, EW 6.0 and 6.1) and Road to recovery stuff(EW between 6.0 and 6.1) still have bits and pieces coming out of the woodwork -_-'
Prompt #1: Envoy - An unused piece of Post EW timeline that involves traveling through Orthard with Hylnyan, Thancred, G'raha and Estinien Prompt #2: Bark - Post EW timeline, A parody dealing with Tomestone farming for mounts and a mount story Prompt #3: Extra Credit - Feathers. Post EW timeline but HW Vanu tribal quest related Prompt #4: Off the Hook - Taking Inventory 2 got transcribed. Hylnyan and Thancred's relationship Prompt #5: Barbarous - Timeline in mid EW, someone remembers Hylnyan all the way from end ARR as one of eight

My take on his mindset I guess Prompt #9: Fair - Mid HW between Awakening in Ul'dah and Into the Aery. short story for a thing that happened in Gpose Prompt #10: Extra Credit - Envoy. Post ARR, Taking Inventory 4 got transcribed. A very short window of happiness for Thancred. A Mor Dhona days short
Prompt #11: Once Bitten, Twice Shy - The start of EW end 6.0 Dreamless Sleep series. No she's not as okay as you think she is, that last solo duty took much out of her. Prompt #12: Dowdy - ShB clearly someone expected things to be fanicer with Hylnyan's sense of fashion. What?! Do you not know how puny she is compared to her enemies? Prompt #13: Check - Pre 6.5 EW short. Being delivery Miqo'te, feat Ryne Prompt #14: Clear - Mid EW, Hylnyan's decoy team and the fellow collaborators who knew since mid-late HW Prompt #15: Portentous - Post ARR Thancred and Cid short that finally got transcribed. A Mor Dhona days short
Prompt #16: Jerk - EW end 6.0 that is after Dreamless Sleep series, the Mor Dhona part of Road to reovery. Something ridculous about Housing and the people looking out for Hylnyan since the Bloody Banquet. A Mor Dhona days short. My personal fave. the notes were tame, this one came out silly. The noodle incident is what it is. Prompt #17: Resting this day Prompt #18: A Fish Out of Water - ARR Pray return to NG+ Prompt #19: Weal - EW end 6.0 Dreamless Sleep series, think about her companions who had to closed in around her, some of them been through this once in ShB Prompt #20: Hamper -EW end 6.0 Dreamless Sleep series, Aetherial Sea Team was suppose to get a short story to replace an earlier one that was scraped
