• @natdaycal Mackinac Island Fudge is perhaps the most popularly recognized name when fudge is mentioned. However, did you know, the women at Vassar College were also devouring a similar fudge as far back as 1880s? It is #NationalNuttyFudgeDay and we have a recipe! #NationalLimerickDay #NationalOdometerDay #FibromyalgiaAwarenessDay Did you know tomorrow never comes? That is why we Celebrate Every Day. Fibromyalgia Awareness Day on May 12 calls attention to this disease, which has plagued many people over the centuries. Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal disorder that causes chronic pain all over the body. Other symptoms also include fatigue, anxiety, migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, skin sensitivity, insomnia, numbness, stiffness, etc. People suffering from fibromyalgia either go undiagnosed for years or are misdiagnosed. Due to a lack of research and the difficulty in identifying the factors that cause the illness, many also believe that the disease is psychological and not real. Moreover, there is no permanent cure to relieve the sufferer. Fibromyalgia Awareness Day was initially commemorated in 1992 in honor of Florence Nightingale’s birthday, a British social reformer and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale is lauded for her services during the Crimean War when she served as a trainer and manager for nurses in Constantinople. Years after her death, scholars, who studied her extensively, claimed that she may have suffered from fibromyalgia. The Fibromyalgia Association, founded by Lynne Matallana, officially established the day in 1998. Matallana has suffered from the illness for almost 30 years herself, therefore, her aim behind the organization was to bring awareness to the disease and help people cope with it. #FibromyalgiaAwarenessDay #RacketOfTheDay #CustomMade #TennisRacket #BreakTheTie #breaktothefuture (em National Fibromyalgia Association) https://www.instagram.com/p/CddZanxN-uS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Fibromyalgia awareness day! A little poem to help me vent and get things off my chest. Only those who have fibromyalgia will know the daily struggle of trying to deal with the pain and be strong. Heres to hoping they can find a cure or at least help us to deal with the pain. The insomnia is brutal, I wish I didmt have this pain. Fuck fibro and its aching muscles. And its lethargy that no amount of early nights will cure, no matter how many times well-wishers suggest you try it, or aromatherapy or less caffeine or yoga. Fuck fibro and its dry mouth and its stomach problems, the bloating and, the headaches. Fuck fibro and its anxiety and depression, mood swings and brain fog. Fuck that fucking brain fog for making it harder to crochet when crocheting is what I love and keeps me going when the pain is excruciating and no amount of zapain will help. Fuck fibro and its hundreds of misunderstood symptoms and the lack of a cure or any sort of logic as to why it occurs. Fuck you fibro! #fuckfibro #fibromyalgiafighter #fibromyalgia #fibrowarrior #fibromum #fibromyalgiasucks #fibromyalgiawarrior #chronicfatiguesindrome #chronicpain #insomniac #anxiety #mentalhealth #deppression #insomnia #fibroawareness #may12 #fibroawarenessday #fibroawarenessmonth #fibromyalgiaawarenessday #fibromyalgiaawareness #tiredasamother #tiredofthisshit #iwanttobenormal (at Cheshire, England) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdc4RF8uN-J/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A very late post for Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, 12th of May.
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.
Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.
____________
While today has been another great day on my holidayto France, the pain has been off the charts with every bone in my right foot and ankle feeling like they were broken. Sometimes it's my lower back, sometimes my shoulders, but often my hips, knees, and ankles.
When things are like this, I use crutches as it's impossible to put weight down with whatever foot or leg is in pain.
When I use crutches, it can be very hard to be independent.
For example, an inability to carry a glass of water to my seat, get in or out of a bathtub safely for a shower, or stand at a hob to make meals.
I can not allow myself to struggle as its exhausting and more painful. I have to ask for help, which, as many who know me will tell you, doesn't come easily or naturally to me.
Today my boyfriend has been getting me drinks and food, driving me less than 2 minutes down the road to the local restaurant we were eating at, helping me in and out of the bath, and reminding me to take my meds when the fibro fog has been at its worst. I hate to say it, but he's my carer. At 34 years old, I need someone to do the job I used to do for the elderly.
It's so difficult for me to depend on someone this way, but he's stepped up to a task he didn't even ask for, and does an amazing job. Even when I was married I didn't receive this level of respect and care.
Not all disabilities and illnesses are visible. I'm so glad I have someone like him to help me with mine when so many people struggle alone.

This is my first Fibromyalgia Awareness Day with an actual diagnosis.... I started the day out with the beginning signs of a flare but managed to get it more under control so I could enjoy this day. I watched movies and did a mini-spa day. I generally took care of myself and didn’t push my body.
I can’t lie, I feel really good today. There’s finally a name for my pain. My doctor has a plan and I can close this chapter in my life. I can start again. I’m only 19 there’s so much I can still do
For that I’m truly excited

#FibromyalgiaAwarenessDay The combination of Fibromyalgia and Graves’ disease have made me quite the actress. 😄 Acting like I’m not in pain or exhausted most days. I’m used to it for the most part. I’ve learned to live with it. I’m always in a certain amount of pain (sometimes minor, sometimes very high) and usually very fatigued every day. But I push through. Some days are better than others. Most people don’t even realize anything is wrong. And I never give up. I don’t want sympathy at all, I’m ok. I’ve learned when to rest and when I’m able to push myself. I just want people to know that they should be kind to everyone, and understanding of their limitations. Don’t give up on your friend that seems tired all the time or cancels plans. Check in on them. Keep inviting them to things. There are still good days when there’s less pain and more energy. Just try to understand and include them. I read this in an article recently and it really sums it all up: “Having an autoimmune disorder undeniably shapes my life. Four years after my diagnosis, every day is a balancing act between what I want to do (dance all night with my friends) and what I need to be able to do (work hard at a job I love). I focus a lot of energy on self-care, and that means I often have to say no to invitations and favor requests, or bail on previous commitments. I feel guilty sometimes, and have to remind myself that even on my good days, my Graves' ((and fibromyalgia)) is real, and I’m not being lazy or selfish by setting boundaries and prioritizing my health. I’m deeply thankful for my friends and family who understand there are times I just can’t go to that event, have dinner at the new Italian place, or stay out for one more round. Even though Graves' ((and fibromyalgia)) is incurable, I’m very lucky that, thanks to my healthcare team and strong support system, I am able to live the life I want 95% of the time.” #chronicpain #chronicillness #fibromyalgia #fibromyalgiaawareness #gravesdisease #autoimmunedisease https://www.instagram.com/p/BxYF4FvpGYE/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ijek6kbpodg3
