🧸I expect Flip to be the kind of guy who will drown you in blankets and heating pads.

Fliqpy

🔪Fliqpy is the heating pad in this situation.

🔪I don’t know why but all I can picture is him just laying on you eclipsing your entire body.

🔪Every few hours or so he’ll reluctantly get off of you and go get snacks and hygiene products.

🔪Unlike Fliqpy, he definitely uses painkillers more freely with you, but that’s only because he knows he’s not gonna overuse them.

🔪If you have more painful cramps, he’s definitely going to be at least a bit worried(though he pretends he isn’t.)

🔪If you ask him I think you might be able to convince him to carry you around the house.

🔪He’d probably complain about it tho, just a little bit-

🔪If your cramps are getting in the way of your sleeping, like, too uncomfortable to sleep, Fliq will stay up with you and watch a movie while holding you in his arms till you can manage to sleep.

Feel like matty and the boys are the type of dads that would dress up for their children’s birthday parties 🤣🤣 like you know how you can hire entertainers who will dress up as people for kids, I can 100% see matty in like a Spider-Man costume and his kids just being mesmerised and then one of them clicking on that it’s actually their dad 🤣

HA i love this. let's say in the d word universe, lyla and alex have a phase of being obsessed with the spider-man cartoons when they get a little bit older (maybe keir gets them into it when they're over at uncle ross's house or something!), and for alex's 6th birthday matty's like "you know what? i'm gonna dress up as spider-man for a bit at his party and entertain the kids". and you're like "😬 is that wise? if they figure out it's you then all hell will break loose. tears and tantrums all round", and matty's like "babe it'll be fine they'll have no idea. i'll do like 20 mins and an accent"; you raise a brow like "you can maintain a decent american accent for that long?", and matty's like "probably. surely the actor parents genes are in here somewhere. if not, i'll just do a backflip". you wince like "really? i didn't know you could do that", and matty smirks like "well, baby, i'm quite agile" - you nod like "yeah, i knew that one, alright", and matty laughs and hugs you. into his shoulder, you murmur "i can't talk you out of this, can i?", and matty says "not at all, sweetheart"; you sigh as you pull back like "alright then. but you have to get a costume that looks like the andrew garfield one, promise me", and matty's confused like "but the kids haven't seen those films yet". smirking, you kiss his cheek and say "no, that caveat is one for mummy, not the kids", and matty's jaw drops like "oh, we need to unpack THAT one later. but alright, darling, i'll see what i can find costume-wise".

he doesn't show you the costume until the actual day of alex's party, though, A) in case he or lyla were to walk in on him wearing it or swipe onto a pic on your phone while they watched peppa on youtube (as kids are wont to do) and B) in case you went catatonic at the sight of matty dressed like one of your formative on-screen crushes (he pestered you until you admitted it, said "that's quite valid of you actually. handsome man. great actor", and giggled at how flustered you got during the laptop smashing scene when you watched the social network together). you get to ogle him for a couple of minutes before he goes out and entertains the kids, and naturally matty's a flirty little shit with you, making you feel up his biceps because "i don't feel like the fabric's sitting right, sweetheart" - he also does the half-mask kiss with you right before he goes into the garden, which makes your knees weaken a little more than his kisses normally do lol. anyway, the performance is actually a success; he manages one flippy thing, which impresses the kids and makes adam go "well, that'll be his back fucked, then", and does a semi-decent accent that george and ross will nevertheless rib him for for the next 3-5 business days. alex is overjoyed by the whole thing, and is having such a good time with his friends that he doesn't even seem to clock that matty is nowhere to be found - lyla, however, isn't so easily duped. once he's changed back into regular clothes, matty finds her hanging around in the kitchen by herself trying to steal all the gummy bears from the bowls of haribos; he's like "you alright, munchkin? i heard i missed spider-man while i was at the loo", and lyla rolls her eyes like "i know it was you in the suit, dad". there's no point lying to her, he thinks, so he steals a cola bottle sweet and says "how could you tell?", and she says "you used one of the same voices you use for bedtime stories". matty's lowkey taken aback at how perceptive she is, but before he can say anything she keeps talking like "but it was nice you did that for alex. i mean, actual spider-man is definitely too busy to come to a birthday party in london" - matty smiles at that - "but alex sent him an invite anyway because he really wanted him to be here. don't worry, dad, i won't tell him it was really you. i think it's cool what you did". and matty scoops her up into a hug like "should've realised you'd figure it out, my clever girl! and that's very considerate of you to keep it a secret from alex. secrets aren't always good, but in this instance i think it's the right thing. m'proud of you, munchkin"; lyla quietly snuggles into her dad for a second, before she says "will you teach me how to do the flip thing you did?", and matty laughs like "in a little bit, darling. but let's go and get some cake first, yeah?" <3

You had met Flippy after the war, when he already had BPD

He was so scared of flipping out in front of you, as you were one of the last people who actually spent time with him when everyone else only invited him to stuff very rarely

Luckily before flipping he had already told you about his affliction and you seemed to understand

Unfortunately, he still flipped out in the first place, yet you really took him by surprise

Instead of acting in disgust and fear when he started to become a bit rowdy you hugged him and tried to soothe him, it worked and he calmed down

After all of that he apologised to you "Sorry you had to see that mate, I'd understand if you don't want anything to do with me anymore…"

He sighed before turning to go but instead you grabbed his paw and made him stay "It's understandable, we'll have to work on that… but it wasn't really you. It was an evil side of you." 

You were being so kind to someone as awful as him and it almost reduced him to tears, "C-Cheers."

But because of you're lack of fear, it should've given you even more reason to be afraid of him

You were so nice to him it reduced him to obsessive insanity, a need for Fliqpy to kill everyone who even so much as looked at you, and a need for Flippy to become even closer to you

It made you happy that even when Fliqpy was in control he would never try to hurt you

But it made you uncomfortable in just how much Fliqpy sticked to you and growled at anyone who tried to talk to you

You still weren't scared of him, just concerned that he may get himself into trouble if he gets out of control

So you try to be kind to him to keep him calm, unfortunately for you it seems to have the opposite effect on him

This'll be quick as... I'm not entirely sure what direction to go with this one. You're both either humans/hybrids or animals. Also, I saw fan art of him with robot arms, we might as well give him that.

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Manipulation, Obsession, Jealousy, Murder, Amputation mention.

- Well, compared to other characters, I'd say he's pretty tame.

- He's easily irritated but is incredibly skilled in building.

- Then there's, of course, the whole hand situation.

- In this concept he has prosthetics to help him out.

- Many of the characters in HTF are surprisingly tame unless it's someone like Fliqpy.

- Even then, Flippy himself is pretty tame.

- Handy may have a short temper but overall he seems like a domestic type who takes joy in building.

- When he isn't dying in some horrid way which seems like a concerningly normal occurrence.

- He does not seem like the type to stalk.

- He seems more like one to daydream while on the job about you and gets all excited when he sees you.

- He may have blueprints set up of houses he'd like to live in with you.

- You're unaware of his feelings but Handy thinks of you often enough to have a decently sized stack of ideas hidden away.

- Even though he doesn't seem to be the type for murder, he is unaffected by the deaths of his fellow friends.

- Which means, when it comes to you, he may not entirely mind embracing a more violent side.

- Handy also seems like he'd get jealous but hide it easily.

- He tries to distract himself with work yet wouldn't mind whoever made him jealous getting into a work-related accident-

- Oh no, a panel fell and crushed someone? Whoops!

- He doesn't mean it to be cold, he's just... used to all the gore and murder?

- Handy would be affectionate, too.

- Maybe even a bit frustrated and insecure about his lack of hands.

- Handy may fall for someone who helps him and encourages him to get over his frustration.

- He expresses his affection with hugs, as he can still attempt those.

- He may even like small kisses on the cheek or something, nothing all that intimate.

- He is so sweet.

- Rarely even the malicious type unless he really doesn't like someone.

- Handy could manipulate you into the life he wants for both of you but it's small things.

- Like motivating certain choices or challenging a decision you made to make you second guess yourself.

- It's all small things so you'll barely notice him guiding your thought process around.

- He probably also needs you to reassure him you enjoy his company, due to the previously mentioned insecurity.

- Would offer to build you a house.

- It's what he's good at and he wants to show you he really loves you!

- He'll tune everything to your tastes.

- Then once it's finished he is ecstatic when you pull him in for a hug and thank him.

- He'll remember moments like that forever.

- To end this on a darker note, there's indeed a dark side to Handy.

- He may not kidnap... but he'd amputate your limbs-

- You'd have to really break him to get him to do something like that, yet he'd do it.

- Then you two would be perfect for each other!

- How could you not love him if you're just like him?

- Handy overall is pretty tame and sweet.

- Just as long as you don't uncover anything darker within him.

Jesus, this is powerful.

Individually these panels are pretty good, but together they paint such a holistic and touching view of this character that it's too good to be real.

Panel 1 is the persecutor dynamic that's pretty common for multiple dudes, and often is recreated from dynamics that they've previously encountered. In this case the dynamic is; fighting from the war that Fliqpy was probably split off to handle so Flippy didn't have to. Expressed both externally, and in both this image and Double Whammy, internally. This is pretty accepted cannon.

The panel below veers from canon and into something beautiful- an acknowledgement from both parties of the nature of their relationship. Although it's murderous, violent, cruel, Fliqpy is a protective figure to Flippy. Flippy hugs his counterpart's chest, upset and with some discomfort (looking away), but still receiving a fundamental level of security. Fliqpy stands upright with blood on him (notice Flippy is clean) and with a hand on Flippy's shoulder. He is keeping him safe in his own war-viewed, destructive way. It's the Big Brother Instinct trope rolled into one guy! He just looks really good here too ngl. Protective figures are defo hot.

Anyways The top right panel is fantastic because as Somerandomvoir said "I like how it implies his sane self is more freaky in bed lol" I also like how sexuality is brought up at all with multiple guys. I mean, fellas, is it gay to have another guy in your head that does unspeakable things on the reg to keep you safe? Flight Club definitely thinks so, just replace safety with authenticity maybe.

Meanwhile… The bottom right panel is heartbreaking. Both are at head level, looking directly at each other with some kind of beam sticking through both their chests. I think the beam represents their shared trauma. They are being hurt by the same bar, in the same chest. All the asymmetrical dynamics fade away and they now see just the un-negotiable pain and the split that came from it. It's a mirror up to whats fundamentally going on with this character.

But they aren't looking at the bar, they're looking at each other. Flippy is crying and Fliqpy is distraught too. After all they've been through, the fighting, the hurt, the sex, they are now fully confronting the fact they are splits of the same mind. Seeing the tragedy that they got hurt so bad that they ended up as this. That this other person is you, but just another part of you. Fliqpy sees a crying, naive thing in pain. Flippy sees a battle hardened soldier having something breach his shell and affect him deeply.

They see their situation and grieve in shared understanding.

They are in this together. Separate, but together.

1. let’s start with a play, because theatre is our great love! the opening scene of virginia gay’s cyrano was so hopeful and clever and funny and theatre at its best, turning the medium inside out and bloody good storytelling to boot. that whole play did me in many times over, but it opens with a bang!

2. the scene at the end of aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe. the kiss and the “i don’t need rain, i need you” and how could i have ever been ashamed of loving dante quintana, the whole lot of it. it’s beautifully written and you feel so full of love for both boys, and it’s the perfect way to close out a story. with love, with growth, with hope.

3. the scene at miracle max’s in the princess bride is one of the very early scenes i can remember making me want to write. i spent a summer watching the whole movie over and over again, and i wrote that scene out and wrote up a backstory for max and valerie, it’s so funny and clever and sad and exciting and i wanted to know how it worked!

4. the scene in the byer’s house in season one of stranger things where steve finds nancy and jonathan and the three of them fight the demogorgon. it’s the scene that first made me seek out fic for the show, it’s the scene that made me want to write fic for the show, and unfortunately i haven’t stopped thinking about the show or steve harrington or nancy wheeler since 2016. the effects of the christmas lights and the real kickstart of the monster hunting ot3 and steve doing his flippy thing with the bat, it’s gotta be on the list!

5. okay this one is thoroughly self indulgent, but the scene in the first episode of merlin where morgana wear’s That Red Dress (you know the one!!) because it’s when i stopped ignoring the fact that i was very much into women thank you very much

🧸To be fair I think he feels this way in all the relationships he’s in, platonic or not, but it’s turned up to ten now.

🧸He really cares for and loves you, and he doesn’t want you to get hurt because of him.

🧸Because of this I think Flippy might enter a small period where he distances yourself from you.

🧸But as soon as he sees that it’s making you more distraught he instantly stops and tells you why he did that.

🧸Which your understanding of, but theirs gonna need to be a lot of reassurance that you don’t think he’s a monster.

🧸Flippy tries to keep you away from anything that triggers your anxiety. He wants you to feel safe around him.

🧸On that note, he also keeps you away from anything that could trigger your sensory issues. 

🧸Squishy disgusting sound? He’s covering your ears immediately. 

🧸Certain types of fabric? He’s knitting you the same shirt in a more acceptable texture. 

🧸Strong smell that makes you go eeeeghhhh? Removes the object or you as quick as possible. 

🧸Bright flashing lights? Hugs your face into him.

🧸He does his best to make sure you’re A, Not scared of him and B, comfortable and not stressed.

Fliqpy

🔪Tbh at the beginning Fliqpy thinks that your anxiety and sensory issues is a bit of a weakness.

🔪He’s kinda mean about it too.

🔪But after a while he starts to shed that way of thinking a bit, seeing how negatively his words and actions affect you.

🔪Don’t get me wrong he’s still a bit of a dick about it but he’s way more understanding.

🔪If something’s making you anxious best believe that thing is exiting your vicinity as quick as possible, whether it be by intimidation or force. 

🔪And if it’s a person? Well let’s just say you’re never going to see them again.

🔪As for sensory issues (because I cannot make a smooth transition for the life of me) it really depends on what it is.

🔪If it’s like, a loud noise then the best he can do is cover your ears till it stops, or let you leave while he finishes up whatever you guys where doing there, like if you were in a grocery store or something.

🔪If it’s like a certain texture of like a shirt or something he’s just kinda like “Then return it dumbass” 

🔪Fliq is really fucking awkward with it too.

🔪He’s not really used to this kind of stuff so when he stops being a dick about it he’s just like 🧍

Synopsis

Hungover, is not how Red thought her day would go, but after finding out how she was used, her roommate and best friend, sets off on writing about those who wronged Red.

'what was his name...? I... I must've been so out of it...' Red thought to herself as she clutched her book bag, hoping to get to her class on time, and avoid the 'friends' she was with the night before 'gah screw them... they left me alone.' she sighs and shakes her head he

'Stop thinking about it, and just... focus on your work. This is what you wanted since... Mom passed away...' She thought one last time, sighing softly, before she opened the door, to her empty classroom, apart from her mentor and professor, and the one person she can come to for advice.

"Ah, good afternoon Red, although you just missed the lesson for today." The older woman chimed as Red sighs embarrassedly "sorry, professor Hana, I had a rough morning and I had to take a taxi to get to campus-" "oh hush child, you know well enough that you are my favorite student, and you know, when we're alone you can tell me anything, and I told you to drop the formalities, when we're alone" the woman, now known as Hana, cut Red off, before sighing in concern "clearly you need a break Red, your looking pale as a matter of fact- what happened last night dear?" She asked softly, in a motherly tone as Red sighs and looks down.

"I-... I went out with Marie and her friends last night... to a club... a-and I had a few drinks, but after about a few... I was left disoriented, drunk even..." She looks down "but then... I-i met someone... big, strong... God he was so kind to me, it made me feel special... Like a gift- no like he was God himself." Red rambled on, before she snapped out of it and blushed darkly a bit, before shaking her head "b-but that's not the point! Point is... I slept with someone, woke up with a migraine and my legs feeling like Jello, and I can't remember his name, besides his eyes, and on top of that I started to feel nauseous when I got back to the dorm. Though that is also from the alcohol I had, but I'm a little worried it's something else." She ranted as she paced in front of her mentor, who sighed, before smiling slightly.

"sounds like a rough day alright, but the part about you feeling nauseous, kinda makes me worried a bit." Hana said before getting up and going towards Red and stopping her from pacing any further, as she felt her forehead. As Red sighs "it was probably the multiple drinks, I was always a lightweight, so that could be It" she said as the other hummed in thought.

"Yea... Well, no fever, which is good, but that doesn't check out my other option of a possible stomach bug. As weak legs and nausea are a few minor symptoms." She said before sighing "but next time, be careful, for now, head back to your dorm, I'll make an excuse note for you, and I'll let you rest for a month. take this time to relax, and calm your mental state before you do anything else, understood?" She stated, looking at the female porcupine, who nodded and sighs.

"I just hope, I don't end up with something bad, I don't want to miss the exams-" Red spoke, before getting cut off "and you won't, I'll make sure you have everything you need to learn, before the end of this semester, but for now, go and relax and I'll see you next month, ok?" Hana smiles as Red returns the gesture and nodded "ok, thank you" she said as Hana smiles and hugs her "no problem" she said before letting Red leave, back to her dorm.

While walking Back to her dorm, Red sighs softly 'to think this year was going to be a good one, well, hopefully it does turn out ok in the end' she thought before stopping in her tracks and looking to see Marie's dorm room cracked a little bit, with Marie and her friends laughing and gossiping loudly.

Red, on instinct, creeped closer to the cracked door, and peered through, as her small ears flicked, listening into their conversation.

"Oh wow~" Marie giggled "and she managed to bed a hunk? Jeez what a slut. Hopefully we managed to get her out of this damned college, I don't even know how we managed to put up with her." The feline cackled as she posted on her social media about the night before. Which was of her and her friends, minus Red, having a real good time on the dance floor. Without her.

But hearing what Marie said, Red teared up and backed away from the door, before running off towards her dorm and slamming it open, scaring her roommate, before slamming it shut as she heads to her side of the room and lays in her bed, snuggling her head into her pillows, sobbing softly into them. While her roommate sighs in worry.

"Red?" Her roommate asked worriedly. As he walks towards her bed, and sits down beside her. "Red, if it's about Marie, you know I can start a rumor and get her kicked out, I mean, she hasn't been that good of a friend to you anyways." He said as Red looked at him with puffy red eyes, sniffling.

"Please don't... I'd rather not have anything to do with her or her friends." she spat out distastefully as sniffles "I just..." she sighs "I just really want to go home... but..." she sighs and looks away from him. "Forget it... it doesn't matter anyway. I'm the college slut now so it doesn't matter-" she jumped as her roommate shouted "of course it does, Red! Besides, it was only one night!" He barked and huffed "plus, how many guys has, Marie slept with? Basically the entire freaking college! If anything she's the slut. Now come on, you're going home and I'm spreading that rumor. Plus, I'd love the taste of revenge." He chuckled mischievously. causing Red to shake her head slightly

"But, how? I don't have a car." Red sighs, as she sits up, "plus, you know very well that if you're caught you too will be thrown out, Justin" she crossed her arms as her roommate smiles.

"That's why, we're going out, tomorrow, plus who can get rid of me, huh?" He smiles slyly "now, how much money do you have?" he asked cheekily as Red tilts her head in thought. "Basically my family's entire inheritance, plus a trust fund that was left to me." "Perfect! Oooooh! This feels like the books I've read." He smiles happily as Red raised an eyebrow "what are you talking about you crazy dog?" She questioned as her roommate, smiles widely.

"You see, my dear friend, in said books, that I have, the woman always goes out with her friends to a bar or a club. And sometimes they get drunk to the point of sleeping with someone and that someone leaves the next day, or sometimes they sleep with a billionaire or a Mafia boss. And have no recollection of the night before." He smiles before getting up "and someway or another the woman always ends up with twins, triplets or even one child" he said pacing and rambling on "and it's always the man finding out he's a father, while the mother is always a single mother, working her ass off, or! Having a boyfriend who is faithful to the woman until the father of said child finds the mother, and in some books, drags her back into his life but the mother is always a Mama bear and never agrees, until a series of events happen and suddenly, POOF! their one big happy family again! Oooh! maybe end up with another child or more and then..."

He rambled on and on, effectively losing Red, as she sweat dropped and scratched her head trying to understand what her friend was going on about. But it was no use.

"Ok, ok! Shh! I get it, I get it! Just..." Red sighs "calm down, I still have to find the best and safest route home anyway. The place is a dangerous place to live... but it's the only place I'd want to raise a child, IF. if I have one" Red said, pointing a finger at her friend, before crossing her arms as Justin rolls his eyes.

"It's gonna happen, anyways, you get some well deserved sleep, while I start working on that rumor, and by next month, hopefully, I'll see if I'll be a uncle" He smirks mischievously as Red giggles softly and sighs, before nodding "yea, but it's not going to happen, because I'm sure we used protection" she says softly, as Justin raised an eyebrow. "Even then none of it really works, because condoms can break, and birth control isn't that effective, and IUD's only last for a few years, but even then that's dangerous because you can lose it or it causes infi-" "ok! thanks for giving me a whole new fear" Red said interrupting Justin, with her quills slightly raised, as Justin smiles nervously and rubs the back of his head "heh, sorry... Guess I got carried away" he chuckled as Red sighs before smiling, yawning softly a bit "yea, no kidding... Anyways, I'm going to take a nap, professor Hana is making me take a break from school so, yea." she said before she lays back down, nuzzling into Her pillows, As Justin smiles lightly.

"Yea, Sleep well Red, because next month, you are going to have a restart" Justin smiles softly, as he covers her with her blankets, and gets up silently, before heading to his side of the room and turning off the lights, and turning on his desk light, dimming it a bit.

"Alright, let's get to work" he said, popping his knuckles and starting typing on his computer. 'this will show Marie who she's truly messing with. For I am, the anonymous gossiper' he smiled at his thoughts as he typed away.

I've been watching a lot of Happy Tree Friends, and I'm just going to say it now:

Flippy is a sad character and you cannot change my mind.

TW for PTSD, violence, and everything else that's already fucked up about this show, even though I honestly love it(Should I thank my brother for introducing it to me or tell him to go to hell because of how it kinda messed me up to see these cute animals die in gruesome ways for the forst time?).

Spoilers too for HTF, so don't read thus unless you're all caught up.

SO!

We all know what Flippy's thing is. At any given reminder of his service in the army, he flips the hell out and kills everyone.

Sure, it's played for laughs, but really think about this through Flippy's perspective:

Anything, ANYTHING can trigger your PTSD and causes you to possibly black out for who knows how long until, the next thing you know, you come back and see you've killed EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND POSSIBLY CARE ABOUT.

Okay, yeah, sure. He lives a very normal-ish life in the town everyone's in, but from we can tell, he does not tell ANYONE what's going on in his head or why he flips. For all we know, all the other characters know is that Flippy just snaps, for some reason, and run for the hills when he does, because now they're on his hit list.

And why does he snap the way he does?

Tiger Bomb.

Say whatever you want, the beginning of that mission failing and the deaths of Sneaky and Mouse Ka-Boom were entirely Flippy's fault.

He grabbed the wrong knife in the initial attempt to kill Tiger General, at first. When he managed to grab the right knife, he kills Sneaky. When Mouse Ka-Boom tries to blow Tiger General to high Heaven, THAT backfires, which leads to Flippy trying to save him by cutting the fuse, and ending up not only cutting him in half, but also getting both killed when the still lit fuse ignites EVERY SINGLE BOMB IN MOUSE KA-BOOM'S BAG.

Imagine the guilt that he felt knowing he killed his friends, his partners, and his team. Now mix that with the fear of getting captured, tortured, and killed by the Tiger General.

No wonder he snapped back then, and it's no wonder he still snaps now.

I personally imagine that whenever Flippy has flashbacks and goes crazy, he's not seeing the other characters. He's probably seeing any if the enemies he encountered during and after the Tiger Bomb mission and his old instincts kick in. I don't think it's hallucinations, per se, but I can see that happening, considering how we do see Flippy hallucinate.

Has he sought help?

Yes, and it worked with varying degrees of success.

And when he did overcome his trauma, he gets hit by a truck and dies.

All that time and effort down the drain.

Now let's see this whole thing from a different perspective.

Remember Without a Hitch, how Flaky was terrified out of her mind to pick up Flippy and give him a ride?

How painful do you think it was for her to want to actually enjoy the company of her friend, to want to help him when it's dark and raining out, but being to scared to, in fear for your life?

Now think about this from Flippy's perspective: Your friend is terrified of you, of what you can or could do to her. She's so scared, she doesn't pick you up when you're in need of help, panics when you help her, and even stands you in the eye, when you two crash and she needs to be taken out of the car.

And why does that crash happen?

Because Flaky panics at seeing/imagining what Fliqpy could do to her, and she can't exactly run and hide because she and Flippy are in the same car.

That, mixed with the fact Flippy got help for and succeeded in getting help for dealing with his trauma, which was really for nothing when he got hit by a trick, is my personal reason why Flippy is one of the saddest characters, not sad as in emotionally, but sad in the way he's written as a character.

Lumpy: I actually grew up here! 

Flippy: I moved here after leaving the military. It seemed like a nice peaceful town to settle down in. …And it certainly was, for a while…

Lumpy: We’re next door neighbors! We met the day Flippy moved in. 

Flippy: I’ll admit, I thought Lumpy was a little odd at first, but I soon found out he’s just a really friendly guy and a big kid at heart. It started out with small gestures; a friendly greeting here, some small talk there. Before you know it, we’re having breakfast at each other’s place every other day. He’s a very straightforward person and just so easy to get along with. I can’t imagine spending even a day without seeing him.

Lumpy: Yup, I know about Fliqpy.

Flippy: I told Lumpy about Fliq. When we started getting close, I thought it was only fair to be honest with him about my PTSD and DID. Lumpy’s been very understanding of Fliq, especially when he acts out.

Lumpy: I was surprised at first, but when you think about it, they’re really just two people who happen to have the same body! Fliqpy wasn’t always the nicest, but once you get to know him, he’s really a good guy!

Fliqpy: Heading straight for the tough questions, huh? …Well, I only became aware of myself as a separate identity from Flip during the war… It’s hard to say if I existed before then; I don’t recall having any different memories from Flip’s from before the war.

Flippy: Studies say that Dissociative identity disorder only develops in childhood, not later in life. We’ve both thought long and hard about it, and it is possible Fliq was always there with me my whole life, but just didn’t feel any need to act independently from me until the war, so we probably never noticed each other before then. We get along as well as two people who share a body can get along. Which is to say, we have our bad days and our good days. It’s like having a roommate, but in your head. It takes work, and quite a bit of therapy.

Fliqpy: I, of course, do most of the work. *smug grin*

Flippy: *chuckles* In your dreams, Fliq. In all honesty, I don’t think I could have gotten through the war without him. He’s saved us a lot of times…

Fliqpy: Well aren’t you nosy.

Flippy: Fliq, be nice. It’s not like it’s a secret anyway… *sigh* We got our arms sliced off… on a mission during the war. I’m sure you’ve already heard of it; Operation Tiger Bomb. It was on this mission that I first became aware of Fliq. We had our arms reattached afterwards in a complex operation; I can’t recall much since it was excruciatingly painful so I was pretty out of it for a while. Fliq was fronting at the time, but he doesn’t like to talk about it. Sniffles could probably tell you all about the technical details of how such an operation is performed; he’s up-to-date on a lot of medical knowledge for his work.
