First original shower thought I've ever had If parallel universes and the multiverse are real then what if universe jumping is really common- so common that we don't notice it? that stranger you almost bumped into that came out of nowhere you just jumped dimensions, but the only change is that that stranger was there at that time so that would make your family.. not yours? they love you the same because you're the same person technically but theyre not yours

i like the name "supernova" for adult kon for a lot of reasons (stellar metaphors and imagery are just so good) but one of the chief ones is... something something the violently bright, explosive death of a star. the intent to die brilliantly. to go out with a bang. to never go gentle into that good night. ough kon you have issues <3

Six Sentence/Stitch Sunday
Thanks for the tags this (very early) morning @j-nipper-95 @cosmicalart @hushed-chorus and @letraspal! How is it COTTA posting week already? What? Where did this past week go?
Speaking of COTTA: I'm putting together a behind-the-scenes post, which includes all my dead darlings, behind the writing commentary, and other things! Including some crochet... so keep an eye out for that! It'll get posted... sometime after COTTA. I still have ruthari week to contend with next week 😅 Maybe I'll post it on my birthday as a birthday treat. Or maybe not, since I'm planning to go to Lake Michigan and be autistic about rocks and watch musicals with my best friend that day.
One final teaser from Lavender hearts before Wednesday:
I feel like a child being reprimanded for sticking my hand in the homosexual cookie jar.
Baz's morbid humor, showing through once again.
I've also got a mystery crochet pattern in the works! Can you guess who I'm designing 👀
Tumblr media
And! I had a stroke of inspiration on my Sad EthariTM fic last night!! It's going to be two parts with a hopeful ending (my soul needs some healing after Lavender hearts). Since I already shared one sentence above, here are five new ones from this fic:
He falls asleep out here sometimes. Arms resting on the stone, head pillowed on his sleeves. When he’s not backed up on orders or house chores that Runaan is no longer around to help him with, he sometimes sits to watch Rayla’s lotus.
To make sure she’s safe.
To reassure himself she’s alive.
I've got some fun (painful) things planned for this fic. My hurt no comfort muscle has been put to good use lately.
I know I don't technically have to stick to six sentences, but it's fun to challenge myself.
Tagging @bazzybelle @youarenevertooold @imagineacoolusername @yeonjunenby @aristocratic-otter @artsyunderstudy @tea-brigade @iamamythologicalcreature @forabeatofadrum @stitchyqueer @hoothalcyon @legend-of-the-fandoms @larkral @wellbelesbian @cutestkilla 💖💖

Oh btw I finished mag200 in a really mentally unstable place (I was vary end coded, suicidal with a fear of dying, growing up, going nowhere in life etc) and so listening to Jonah pleading for his life just to get struck down anyway (mixed with me not being able to pick up on social cues and not realizing that Jonah was a manipulator(and to be honest i still don’t see it re-listening which is worrying for my future lol))) made me feel like really bad for him because like yeah I’d probably do that to (and I might be doing it now I am a vary bad person) if it meant not dyeing and being wholly consumed in safeness

Dragonquest
Ok I finally finished it!
Warning for frank spoilers about a half-century old book.
There really wasn't much questing, was there? Does the title refer to the very end, with F'nor going to the Red Star? Or did the publishers title it Dragon+rando-fantasy word-here, to get people interested? Because the whole plot was a bunch of people talking to each other with varying degrees of success.
I think it's a miracle I finally sorted who everyone was by the end of it. I can now tell apart F'nor and F'lar. I hate those names so much.
Things I liked:
Lessa is allowed to be judgemental and wrong about things. She's still a bitch! She's still talented at manipulating people! She's still respected by people! Love that actually
Lessa and F'lar as a couple, actually. THE SNARK and then all those tender touches betraying their deeper feelings? UGH
FIRE LIZARDS
A bunch of leaders of the land squabbling like school children over who gets to look in a telescope!!! PERFECT SCENE 11/10
The status is never quo. Seriously, McCaffrey establishes something and then in the next chapter cheerfully upends it. The political structure of the land keeps shifting, people's opinions shift (or don't) to accomodate technological rediscoveries or innovations, the friction between Oldtimers and everyone else makes so much sense and I'm so glad that's the plot point book 2 opens on!
And F'nor actually Did The Thing and went to the Red Star! That was super epic!!
Dragons. Draaaagons. Dragondragondragon. I love them all.
Things I was significantly less fond of:
Why is Kylara's entirely plotline Like That? Why have her slut shamed when she could have just been written as greedy and foolish??? Kylara can be an awful person that's cool, but the way she was written was Bad and didn't have to be like that. She could've been an interesting foil for Lessa (and Brekke I guess)... but she wasn't. We don't even find out how she feels about her dragon dying!
Brekke, to be honest. She's boring af, her romance with F'nor is trite, and the most exciting part of her narrative was when her dragon died. Rip Wirenth poor thing, but that dragon queen battle scene WAS riveting, so I did enjoy that. I wanted to like Brekke but there was no hook, nothing that made me feel anything about her one way or the other
There are too many male characters doing stuff and not enough ladies, but honestly for sci fi of that time period it's not the worst offender
I don't know why everyone on Pern is repulsed by grubs so much tbh?
In general though, I liked Dragonquest! But it did... it did... drag on. (Yes, I went there. Deal with it. :3)
It had some middle book pacing issues. I enjoy that it didn't have a traditional three-part structure, but the beginning was slooooow and I didn't have much investment with the many many (mostly male) characters... and it was hard to keep up with them! The description is quite sparse, so it's hard to attach any sensory memory to the characters. I should have flipped to the back more to refresh on who was the lord of what, etc.
But yeah, generally very interesting. I like the conflicts that happen most of the time, I think the central conflict of Pern vs Thread/spores is actually really interesting and such a refreshing change from a lot of fantasy I've read lately. This book is truly about a lot of logistical conversations, and I appreciate that. Flawed but interesting.
7/10 looking forward to the next installments.

I was browsing through my feed and then I noticed your blog. Are you really Ren Amamiya? Like, from the Persona videogame series? If it's true, that's extremely fascinating! How did you end up in the "real world", so to speak? I'm sorry, it's hard to restrain myself, I have so many questions!!!! >_< - @colressexperiment
Yeah, uh, Ren Amamiya is my name! As for how I ended up in the real world, I uh. Am a person? That exists? If you're asking how I got to this world, it's just a thing that happens to me sometimes.

idk it's weird to me because barbie was an extremely politically-charged figure for me growing up because i understood that she represented an ideal of femininity that i didn't see reflected in any of the real women in my life and i knew that she was associated with vapidity based on various parodies, the barbie girl aqua song, etc. i was always gravely offended when someone who didn't know me well gave me a barbie doll because i didn't want to be thought of as girly (even tho i wore pink and purple and dresses and liked lisa frank and didn't like roughhousing etc.) and therefore shallow or unintelligent, which i recognize was due to internalized misogyny, but i didn't make that association out of nowhere.
that's why i'm so baffled by people saying "all movies are selling a product this is no different" because barbie has ALWAYS been the locus of culture clashes because she has ALWAYS been first and foremost intended for little girls. the obvious angle of the film is going against the mainstream understanding of barbie as a symbol of superficial consumerism by literally turned her into a real woman, that's why it's intriguing. so obviously the marketing for the film is implicitly if not explicitly hinging on the idea of female empowerment through consumerism. and these products are geared toward adults, who have way more disposable income than children but are also ostensibly better equipped to resist commercialism and yet here we are. like surely you are not all this dense

if toji suddenly reincarnated back into ssg, how would each character react? like obvi gojo would try to hollow purple him on sight but he manages to hold himself back to get some answers from toji instead. do the others know that it was bc of toji that megumi is stuck in the situation he’s in rn? would megumi even want to talk to his dad?
and how would toji take finding out how the zenin treated his son? he thought that he’d be safe and happy there and then he finds out what they did to megumi and that it was gojo and co who stopped it.
Everyone knows that Toji sold megumi to the zenin.
I think it actually really bothers Megumi how it’s common knowledge. He doesn’t know anything about his own father other than he sold him, and that’s not even private to him. He’s just some unwanted kid who his dad only had to sell like prized cattle.
It was never a secret that Toji sold him to the Zenin. Maki knew, and she already told the others when giving them the rundown on what happened. They’d all know that toji’s the reason megumi’s stuck in this situation.
The second years:
It depends on when he arrived. If it’s when Yuuta still hasn’t gotten the RCT backlash under control, then he may have to worry a bit about the power of love and also this sword.
He’d survive. Not unscathed. But he’d survive.
If it’s after Yuuta’s gotten control, Yuuta still would hate him, but he wouldn’t be as proactive about it. Mostly because Megumi would feel weird about him making a fuss. He’d intervene every time Toji tried to talk to Megumi if Megumi established he didn’t want to talk to him. He’d try to quietly get him the fuck out of there. He'd radiate an aura of murder whenever Toji came close.
Maki would ice Toji out on principle. Like, she’d hate that she had to. Toji’s supposed to be the only one who understands her. They’re both Zenin clan rejects. They both were hurt in such similar ways.
But only one of them sold their fucking kid back into that hellhole, and that ended with Megumi in a hospital bed. She’d be bitter, internally, that she couldn’t try for something like a relationship with Toji. She’d wonder if she betrayed Mai the same way he betrayed Megumi. She wouldn’t outwardly react to him. She’d ice him out.
Inumaki and Panda would embark on a quest to ruin his fucking life. They’d short sheet his bed. They’d put itching powder in his pants. They’d put bleach in his shampoo. All would fail, but this would not discourage them.
The adults:
Gojo would bend over backwards to keep Toji away from Megumi.
Gojo's playing the game of "only let Megumi get information he can physically handle" right now. that's why he's refusing to let Maki tell him the truth about the Ten Shadows. He knows his kid. He knows Megumi's impossibly fucked up and is not going to tell them how badly or ask for help for what happened. He knows Megumi's going to break if anything else happens, and he knows that Toji showing up out of nowhere and dropping six bombshells on him is not something Megumi could handle. He'd squeeze Toji for insider information on the Zenin and threaten to punt Toji to the moon if he didn't stay the fuck away.
Toji would not be impressed by the threats.
Nanami and Shoko would refuse to have anything to do with him. Shoko wouldn’t speak to him. Nanami would, but only to inform him that his sole priorities are the wellbeing of his family, and that Megumi has a right to speak with Toji if he so wishes, but if he doesn't, toji needs to steer far clear of him. He's done enough. toji may have been his father biologically, but Nanami was the one who carried him home--twice--after the family Toji sold him to broke him to the point he was close to death. Nanami has been there for the parent teacher conferences and the nightmares and all the shit Toji never even tried to be there for even when he had a chance. Toji surrendered his place in Megumi's life, and it's been filled. And Toji should not dare to try and hurt nanami's family again. He's already done enough.
Megumi:
Megumi hates him. And he wouldn’t want to talk to him.
Megumi never talks about his dad. If someone asked, he’d say he doesn’t care about him, didn’t expect better from him, and doesn’t care that toji sold him. It’s hard to be hurt by someone you never expected to love you. He’s not surprised; he’s not disappointed; this is just his dad being on brand. He was a piece of shit before and a piece of shit now.
He’d be lying.
His dad selling him to the Zenin cut megumi deeper than anything else in his life. The zenin were always his abusers. But Toji was supposed to be his dad. He was supposed to take care of him.
He was supposed to love him. And a part of megumi has never been able to understand why he didn’t.
In megumi’s mind, he had to have known what pieces of shit the Zenin were, and he sent him there anyway. And Megumi hates him for it, he really does.
I guess it really depends on when in the sgg timeline it is. Like, are we dropping him right in the middle of the currently chapter?
Megumi would assume he’s a hallucination. He’d think his brain would be just fucking with him and making it all hurt more. It would make him violently upset, and Toji would have to be removed from the room, and Gojo would probably have to knock Megumi out to get him to calm down again.
If he’s gotten better, then Toji would still make him violently upset. But he’d be aware enough to hide how much.
He’d refuse to see him. He’d refuse to talk to him. He wouldn’t want to be in the same room as him. His dad couldn’t be fucked to ever be there for him, so Megumi doesn’t see why he should drop everything to see him now.
Megumi's not in a mindset where he could ever healthily see Toji, coming right off SGGs. like, he's traumatized out of his fucking mind. He's absolutely unable to handle the added stress of his deadbeat dad coming back to life and wanting to chat.
Toji:
Toji would kill all of them.
The thing is, I don't think Toji actually thought Megumi would be safe and happy with the Zenin. I think that's the lie he told himself to justify selling his son to his abusers. Like, he knows his family's cruelty better than anyone. He knows that even if you have cursed energy, they're not exactly tender parents.
I think he was just in a spiral, struggling with a gambling addiction, and was trying to take an easy way out and lying to himself about what exactly he was doing to his son.
He'd feel like shit over it, the confirmation that he son could be literally the most important person for hundreds of years to the zenin and they'd still hurt him. He'd kill them for putting Megumi in the hospital bed, for hurting him all those years ago. He wouldn't know how to begin fixing things with his son, so he'd do what he knows how to do, which is just fucking kill the people who hurt him to begin with.

Several people have commented on The Simple Truth that they were surprised at how supportive Kaito is and how in character he is despite that, but it’s actually really simple. Let me tell you the sequence of events from Kaito’s perspective.
Wake up in a psychological death trap with like a dozen of the weirdest people you’ve ever met.
Take two of these weirdos under your wing the way a barnyard hen adopts orphaned ducklings.
Using your jock problem-solving skills, force your new boy bestfriend and girl bestfriend to work out with you to cope with The Horrors™
Realize during nightly workouts with them that you are so, so bisexual.
More important things to deal with. Save that realization for later.
Mostly survive until you don’t.
Wake up outside the psychological death trap. Everyone is alive and you’re all famous now. Wtf are you supposed to do now.
Decide to take classes and get certified as an astronaut because fuck it, that’s what you were doing before the whole death trap thing anyway.
Test out of a bunch of subjects because you already know all this stuff. Sign up to take the ones you can’t skip.
Realize there’s a hole in your schedule due to all the classes you’re exempt from. Take a looksie through the course catalog about it.
Oh hey, LGBT 101 and queer theory. Fuck it, it’s a subject you don’t know anything about and you’ve been meaning to deal with that whole bisexuality thing anyway. Sounds cool.
Hear a semi-reliable rumor from multiple of your weirdo death trap acquaintances that your boy bestfriend quote, “might be a girl soon,” unquote.
Don’t really know what to think about that. Probably just the rumor mill.
You haven’t really gotten to talk to him much since you woke up. No one has, he’s been avoiding everyone’s calls and barely leaves the house.
Learn in class that trans people have a crazy high suicide rate if they aren’t accepted for who they are.
Well fuck.
If your bro is a chick now she needs to know you support her. Show up at your best girlbro(?)’s place unannounced with nail polish and face masks and such. Girls like that stuff, right?
Insist upon having a “girls’ night” sleepover despite being way out of your depth.
Explain none of this to anyone.
Success.
So you see your honor he is simply a himbo with a heart of gold. A very smart but exceptionally dumb emotional support golden retriever. A bisexual disaster jock. And a mother hen.

Listen, listen, all I’m saying is, Mikey never had making portals as part of his magic arsenal. At best you can say he can manipulate gravity (throwing boats, buildings, and making himself hover) which sure, could lend to that, but his portals don’t even look even remotely like Leo’s or even Draxum’s
Listen. Mikey doesn’t make portals by having it as a magical ability. Mikey makes portals by forcing an ungodly amount of power into a specific point. He makes portals by forcing so much power into a dense space it literally RIPS OPEN THE FABRIC OF SPACE AND TIME. I want you to try and fathom how much energy is required to form a black hole. Now I want you to consider that but even more.
Anyway what I am saying is the only reason Mikey did not single-handedly blink the Kraang out of existence is because the collateral would have been too much of a loss. But you can bet your ass I am thinking about an alternate war ending where Mikey’s the only one left and he decides to just obliterate the Kraang, himself, and the planet all in one fell swoop.
Literally what is this child I am terrified WHO LET HIM HAVE ALL THIS POWER
