Hicksville, NY native releases new footage straight to what is probably the next outdated technology hipsters will be bringing back.

Here’s five-and-a-half minutes of Frank Gerwer ripping including some sketchy slams and Gerwer antics of course. Frank is a native New Yorker originally from Hicksville, NY.

Skateboarding and the Fetish of Sacred Places - Post Radical Episode 6
This week’s episode of the new Viceland series Post Radical with Rick McCrank, took a look at skateboarding obsessions. I found the opening 10 minutes entirely captivating as Rick spoke with Frank Gerwer about his collection of skateboarding mementos. Unlike a sticker collection or a wall full of rare and classic boards, Frank has a collection of concrete, items procured from the Hubba Hideout and EMB amongst other places.
In the episode, Frank and Rick visit Wallenberg and chat about the important history of the space. They are then joined by a pilgrim, Joey, who has simply come to check the spot out and take in its ambience.
In a few short minutes the programme provides a succinct example of what I tried to achieve in a 7000 word paper published at the end of last year. My article on sacred places and secular pilgrimage touches on many of the same themes. I was stoked to see it get such an intelligent and evocative treatment on a television show.
As I reflected on the episode after viewing it I realised that Morrison Hill, an iconic Hong Kong spot, is a place that both Rick and Frank had also visited. I had the privilege of meeting them both there, though some 12 years apart. I state in my paper that just about every skateboarder who passes through Hong Kong checks this spot out. For those unfamiliar with the spot, it occupies the first 50 seconds of Torey Pudwill’s Flatbar Frenzy part.
I have neglected to talk about the other parts of the episode, including B.A. K.U. and Todd Falcon, but rest assured these were also very good too.
Bravo Rick and Frank, that was superb.
If anyone wants a copy of the article I wrote. Just send me a message. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/17430437.2017.1390567
