Air's Bizarre Christmas Rom-Com Reclist
I am a fan of Romance Media, but even more importantly, a fan of mediocre art. As such, I have watched a lot of christmas romcoms. I have in fact watched Too Many christmas romcoms. While freelancing between jobs, I would put them on in the background as mindless noise to keep me company while writing copy.
This means that I am uniquely positioned to create a rec list of christmas rom-coms that meet a very specific set of criteria:
Is the movie interesting enough to make me actually Watch it instead of half-listening to it in the background?
Are elements of the plot bizarre enough to make me yell "WHAT" at the screen?
Would I rewatch the movie in the company of friends?
Any movie that fulfills all three of these criteria is eligible to join those privileged few, the elite ranks of My Christmas Rom-Com Rec List
A Chance for Christmas (2021)
Synopsis: "Influencer Christina Chance gets the opportunity of a lifetime: a lucrative sponsorship from the brand of her dreams. However, she soon discovers she's stuck in a time warp where the same Christmas Eve repeats itself over and over again." Commentary: This is a Tubi original, and it lives up to all the mess that status bestows. That established, my favorite parts of this movie are that the main character and love interest have the same kind of obsessive, perfection-driven marketing brain poison that lead them to try to min-max a time loop and learn zero lessons for the vast majority of the movie. There's a kind of frenetic, self-absorbed energy to each of the characters that's fascinating to watch. At one point the main character attacks a man dressed like Santa in an act of misdirected rage, and the love interest holds her concerned family back while yelling "SHE NEEDS THIS LET HER GO SHE NEEDS THIS". Also, the kids are actual characters with inner lives instead of props! There are structural issues with the movie, and in my perfect world, the protagonist would quit her influencer job, but overall, I enjoyed it.
A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)
Synopsis: "A Christmas movie fanatic and her cynical sister wake up to find they are now the stars of a Christmas movie." Commentary: I have a soft place in my heart for scripts written by actors who have been trapped in this Christmas purgatory for years. There's a certain sensitivity to The Way Words Work that is nonexistent in most of these films. Especially since this industry relies on Never Retaking Any Line Read Ever because these movies are basically made on an assembly line. That is to say, this movie is a love letter and a list of grievances wrapped together in a metatextual bow. All of its jabs at the genre feel like they come from a place of familiarity rather than scorn, and the actors are obviously having fun. Line deliveries and elements of blocking feel like they have actual character work put into them, and one of the love interests feels like a Christmas Homunculi with no understanding that a world other than snowglobes and sugar cookies exists. But on purpose this time! If he encountered a turtle flipped on its back, he'd start feeding it christmas cookies, and the movie is Very Aware of This. It's fun.
Baby It's Cold Inside (2021)
Synopsis: "When a travel agent up for a promotion is directed to forget her tropical vacation and instead visit the world-famous Ice Hotel, she discovers that her sacrifices are more than compensated." Commentary: I'll be honest. This one is mostly here because the editing choices made me feel like I was losing my mind. I ended up dragging my roommate down to the living room at multiple points so that they could witness the same thing I was seeing. The jarring cuts, dropped story beats, and lines that lead nowhere make for an unforgettable viewing experience... except for the part where I have forgotten literally every other element of the movie. Except for the inexplicably evil love rival who becomes niceys at the end. I like her. Girlboss. This isn't even the only Hallmark movie that was set at and filmed at Hôtel de Glace in 2021. Truly the most Hallmark movie on this list.
Christmas Perfection (2018)
Synopsis: "Darcy's been striving for the perfect Christmas since childhood; thanks to a magical figurine her dream finally comes true." Commentary: I have already written up my thoughts on Christmas Perfection in EXTENSIVE detail here. Needless to say, I watch it every year. What a fascinating text. What an odd timeloop. It should have been gay.
Snowmance (2017)
Synopsis: "Each year Sarah builds her "Snow Beau" snowman with her best friend Nick. After another breakup, she begins to wonder if she'll ever find her own true love. A little Christmas magic brings her Snow Beau to life." Commentary: I cannot believe the snowman actually came to life. The snowman came to life and he's not even the primary love interest. Nick sucks in a normal possessive childhood friend love interest way, fuck Nick, everyone hates Nick, sure, but THE SNOWMAN CAME TO LIFE? THE SNOWMAN CAME TO LIFE AND HE TRIES TO SELL THE PROTAGONIST'S HOUSE!!!!! SHE LIVES THERE!!!!! This movie made me scream out loud multiple times. It is not good. Please watch it.
Timeless Love (2019)
Synopsis: "Megan wakes up from a coma in a hospital. The husband and 2 kids she just dreamed about aren't real. At her first job interview, she meets Thomas from her dream - or was it a vision years into the future?" Commentary: Listen to me. Listen. The establishing scenes of this movie are played completely straight. For the first chunk of the movie, it feels like this is going to be a dramatic, serious movie in a way that Hallmark Christmas Romcoms fundamentally are not, which makes it EVEN WEIRDER when it suddenly pivots into your classic nonsense. It entrances me. Who let this happen? Why is the medical professional who is assigned to help Megan with the trauma of losing her coma-construct family and recover from being in a literal coma cartoonishly evil? Why was the information Megan obtained from the coma dream accurate to real life? Why is she suddenly okay with losing her coma children as soon as she found the real-world version of her coma-husband? What a fascinating text. I have no clue what to do with it. But maybe you do. I'm folding it into your hands. Whatever happens next is your decision

Lots of new followers!!
HUGEST WELCOME and thank you for following here here! We've only recently started using Tumblr again ourselves.
I made a post about the more unknown side of my studio the other day for my PNGtuber CocoLouCovers (I might make a separate Tumblr for that soon, so i can share WIP covers and Lets Plays)
But thats not what this post is about!
This post I wanted to introduce the games I'm making to you! My name is C.L and I am a programmer, audio editor, writer, studio owner, marketer, social media, vocalist, project manager, casting director (the list goes on) I have worked on over 19 games as a freelancer and I have 3 of my own games in production.

With three games in production our patreon is a fantastic place to follow us!
Monthly illustrations by poll, sketches, completed illustrations and assets as they're created, playable beta, merch discounts.
The more support we get there the more we can do and the faster we can get our games our because I think dont have to take so much freelance work which keeps me away from my own projects.
Heart Agency and Moonflower both have planned beta releasing exclusively to the patreon!
Our tiers range from $3 to $35

Dressing Room Failures
Summary: Hyun is frustrated about not getting the lead in a new TV show. Min-ji tries to cheer him up.
Rating: T - Suitable for teens, 13 years and older, with some violence, minor coarse language, and minor suggestive adult themes.
Words: 2200
Notes: Sweaty, semi-nude Zen would be a view. A shame I can’t draw.
Tumblr media
Zen is sulking.
He knows it is obvious, his derisive scowl is so entrenched in his face that he might think that it is going to be stuck like that, but he just could not bring himself to care. What does it matter if the media made jokes about him and his facial expressions? Right now, he felt like a joke anyway.
A woman stops next to him and shoots him a smile. "Hey, sourpuss."
He rolled his eyes at her, which was bad. He is probably going to regret it in the morning.
Min-ji Chang is the exception to everything when it came to Hyun, the only thing aside from maybe the deep hatred he feels towards Jumin Han who could pull him back to himself when he got like this. Right now, however, even the sight of her was annoying him.
He was sitting in his dressing room, in his underwear, the figurine and the old script laying forgotten on his feet.
"The antagonist’s role is amazing." The woman speaks gently, tapping his knee as she sits beside him. He thinks this is the first time in his life that her touch has not ignited butterflies in his stomach. "I’ve heard that they’ll be releasing it internationally. The Americans have already bought it, and the Japanese are in talks right now. It can be a real opportunity for you!"
Hyun does not care how many international markets are going to buy it. He is not the lead, and so it does not matter. He is tired of playing second-best.
"Last year, it was good…" He muttered.
"Don't start." She warned him.
He knew he was pushing his luck. Min-ji is only there to support him. She should not even be there, he is pretty sure that the people on wardrobe must be looking for her.
Part of him hated that she never jumped production companies to stay close to him when he left his old agent. He had managed to get her a placing, but she insisted in keep being a freelancer, and so it is rare that he ever gets to meet her at sets. In fact, the only reason why he took this job instead of any other crappy parts they offer him all around the city is because she told him she would be doing wardrobe here this season.
On the other hand, why did she need to follow him around? He means nothing to her, probably. He was nothing more than a colleague she got on well with, she had worked so well together all those years ago, but it was just a job. A work friend, but the kind she sends a Christmas card to, not someone who is in the card with her.
Hyun sighed. "It's embarrassing."
He could not look at her when he spoke. His stomach was twisting and he hated himself for it. Jealousy was an ugly emotion. Anger and bitterness and living in a world of what-ifs were also ugly, and the pale man did his best to constantly avoid them. He liked it when he was the cool guy, the calm guy, the guy who let nothing bother him. The Smooth Operator.
Hyun had not felt like that in nearly a year.
He managed to look at Min-ji then, and his chest tightened uncomfortably, along with his stomach making loops. She had those big doe eyes, eyebrows pulled together and mouth drawn down in what he really hoped is not pity as he finally could perceive her appearance. He knew what he looked like, his bloodshot eyes would have that wild look about them and his jaw was set, pushing his lips out into even more of a pout.
He sighed, the look on her face making him crack just a fraction.
"I just want…" He paused again. “I want to move forward. I don’t want to be a second-rate actor anymore.”
Those words had been haunting him. He struggled beyond words to get where he is, from dropping out of school and making gang work to survive, to gruelling auditions and being a line dancer in musicals of questionable taste, until finally breaking out into television. Now he had a proper career and a proper agent and sure, he had jobs coming from left and right and has managed to move into above-ground, and yes, this year they were coming in thick and fast and things were looking great.
Yet, he just could not seem to get a break-out role.
Every time he got close, like in this show, something happened. He was usually okay with making mistakes, everybody cracks under pressure, and accidents happen, but when he knows that he had given a performance of a lifetime and he is still left behind for the lead… Well, it hurts. It made it seem that there is a glass ceiling, that he is pressed against it, but that he will never shatter.
Then, there was the RFA. He loves these people, even the moneybags, and he is proud of the work that he does in there, but if he had known how exhausting and difficult it all would be, he would have never taken up V and Rika on their offer. He cannot stand the meddling in the shape of support, he cannot stand the realization that he cannot be bitter about things anywhere, and he especially cannot stand Jumin’s offer of “help” anymore.
Min-ji smiled at him. "I know, sweetie, but…"
Her voice pulled him back down to earth. He had been zoning out a lot lately.
"Don't say it." Hyun pleaded.
He is sick of hearing it. Everybody told him that his time will come, but the only thing he had in response was to wonder when. He is getting old, already, and if it does not happen soon… Well, it simply will not.
She patted him on the shoulder, her touch sparking a little bit of warmth when she squeezed.
"I wouldn't dare."
That made him smile because it reminded him that he can be bitter about things sometimes. There was always someone in his corner. Someone who does not care about his mistakes, who does not need or want him to prove anything or do anything. Someone who was proud of him for everything he had achieved, who is not still waiting to see what he might do. She knew him, for him.
Min-ji knew Hyun the way he liked people to know him, the way he let so few people actually know him.
Even her presence in the room was making him feel more like himself. He leant to the side to gently knock her shoulder, before sitting up a little straighter and running a hand through his hair, taking advantage of the sweat still clinging to it to push it out of his eyes. He does not care how many times he was asked to; he would never cut his hair.
She pulled him into a hug, even though he was still sweaty from the shoot. Her touch made him melt, her small arms wrapped around his waist felt better than anything else.
Hyun allowed himself a second to drop his chin onto the top of her head and inhale her scent. He loves how her shampoo smells of summer, wind and wildflowers.
Min-ji pulled away first, of course she did. For a second, she stayed close, her arms still around his waist as she looked up into his eyes and he felt his breath hitch in his throat because goodness gracious, it would have made so much sense to kiss her right then.
Yet, he did not, because he knows that she does not want that. She does not want him like that. They were friends. He had to remind himself every time he saw her.
Them being friends does not mean that he cannot push his luck, he argued with himself. He can invite her to the after-party that evening. He had a good cop-out if it did not work out, as they are friends, after all, and friends invite each other to parties all the time. Technically, the party was at least in part for him, and so he can bring whomever he wants. Plus, technically, she worked for the production, and so it is only natural for her to attend, even if none of the other assistants were invited.
"Are you coming to the after-party tonight?" He tried to sound casual, busying himself with putting on a shirt and pants.
Min-ji does not reply, and her silence spoke volumes.
Hyun felt his heart sink once more as he turned to her, trying to keep the pain out of his features. He was cool, he was casual, he does not care if a friend couldn't come to his party. He does not even really want to be at the stupid, stupid party.
Can the earth swallow him whole right at this moment?
She looked strange. Is she uncomfortable? She kept shifting her weight and she would not meet his eye. She looked, and shit his stomach churned, because she looked guilty.
"Um… Actually, I can't make it tonight." She responds, embarrassed.
Oh. Oh. She had plans. That was okay, she is allowed to have plans.
It does not feel okay and if Hyun had been sulking before, he was all but having an internal tantrum now because he does not give a shit about the party, not if she is not going to be there.
"Why?" He was asking her before he could stop himself.
He does not want to intrude, he does not want to force Min-ji to say it, to give out explanations to him, but there was a sick voice in the back of his head that just had to know.
"I, um… I'm going on a date tonight."
A date.
The word hung like a bullet in the air. His mind was racing, and, for once, he could not find the words in the Korean language to express what was going on in his mind.
He nodded, with his eyes trained on the floor because he could not bring himself to look at her. Not without imagining the guy taking her out, and that made him sick.
Min-ji made an excuse about being expected back at the wardrobe department and the workload, turning away to leave.
It does not feel right. It is too formal, too final.
Suddenly, Hyun was stricken by a sickening thought. If Min-ji went out with this guy, if she dated him, this would be the last time he saw her like this. He does not even know if he would get to see she alone again.
It was sheer selfishness that made him call out to her to stop.
He knew he had big pleading eyes like a pathetic puppy, and hell, he is not above using them. If he had to get on his knees and beg for her in that moment he would have without question.
"Don't go on that date." The actor asks, a demand on his tone.
She is staring at him like he was speaking a foreign language and, for a split second, he wondered if he actually spoken at all. She does not move, her expression not changing as her crossed her arms and stood in his doorway.
"Why?"
Shit. Did she want him to say it? Really? He had not expected for her to just jump into his arms but he did not think she would want to drag a confession out of him.
He huffed. "You know why."
The desperation in his tone made him sick. He had never been like this with anyone before, but she…
Min-ji Chang is something else. He was kicking himself that it took she telling him she had plans with someone else to say something.
She had softened her expression, her face morphing back to that sorry look that she had had earlier.
Great, so she is now pitying him again.
The woman dropped her arms, and the next words from her were barely a whisper. If Hyun was not so incredibly tuned into her, he would have missed it.
"Say it."
"I want you." He confessed. It does not matter, anyway, and she deserved to know. "Every day, all the time. I want you."
"Oh." She said.
It was more a rush of air than a word, but Hyun was on a roll and he did not care about consequences. Why not pour fuel on the fire? He had ruined the friendship already.
"You want me to say it? Fine. I will.” He was panting at this point. “I want you. All you ever have to do is say that you want me too, and I'm yours."
Min-ji is staring at him like he was a stranger. He could see her mind turning rapidly, and as desperate and as frightened as he was, he respected it. She had not come here for a confession. He waited as her eyes scanned the entire room, and then him, and then her feet.
"I need to go and cancel my date."
Hyun had never heard words so sweet.

Hot Pod Goes Cold; Substack & Spotify Team Up; IAB’s Digital Advertising Report
Tumblr media
Podnews reported lastweek that Hot Pod, one of the longest-running newsletters about podcasting, is to suspend publishing. Lead reporter Ariel Shapiro has announced that her last week with its owner, The Verge, will be next week. Deputy Editor Jake Kastrenakes added: “We won’t have a new writer in place by next week, so we’re planning to put Hot Pod on hiatus while we figure out next steps.” The publication’s writers, Ariel Shapiro, Ashley Carman, and Nick Quah, have been a vital part of the industry since 2014 and Podnews reported that "Hot Pod inspired them to produce this daily newsletter in 2017."
I'd like to start a campaign to convince The Verge to hire one of these three people to take over Hot Pod. All three are tremendously talented and know podcasting
The three are Arielle Nissenblatt, Wil Williams, and Samantha Hodder.
First, Arielle Nissenblatt is well-known and highly regarded in podcasting circles. In today's fragmented media world, there are TikTok celebrities, Instagram influencers, and YouTube stars who are unknown outside their media universe. If you've been involved in podcasting in any way over the last few years, you know Arielle Nissenblatt.
"I've been working in the podcast space since early 2017 when I started a podcast recommendation newsletter called EarBuds Podcast Collective,"Arielle notes. "Since then, I've managed podcast studios, worked as an in-app curator, gone to school for audio production, produced several podcasts, run successful marketing and PR campaigns for several dozen shows, have organized podcast communities on Twitter, Discord, and Slack, and much more."
Arielle confesses to "love working in and around audio because it's my favorite way to consume content. I want to help more people find their next favorite podcast."
Arielle is the founder of EarBuds Podcast Collective, a podcast recommendation newsletter. She is on the community team at Descript, an AI-powered video and audio editing software service. She hosts three podcasts, Trailer Park: The Podcast Trailer Podcast,  Feedback with EarBuds and Daily Tips That May or May Not Help You with Arielle and Ned.
Then we have Wil Williams, who is currently a marketing specialist for Tink Media. Williams has written for Discover Pods, Polygon, Vulture, and The Takeout. She has appeared on KQED's Forum, WAMU's 1A, Slate's ICYMI; has cried listening to Wolf 359's "Memoria" at least five times.
Williams is also the CEO of Podcast Problems LLC (If you have a podcast, you have problems), and you should read her website if you are a podcaster. You can read her articles there, including Your Podcast Needs Better Show Notes, Your Podcast Needs Better Metadata and my favorite, How I Know So Much Shit.
Williams also writes and manages the Substack Podcast Marketing Magic. When it comes to podcast journalism, Wil Williams is one of the very best.
Then we have Samantha Hodder, who is a multihypenate -- someone who does several different jobs in the entertainment industry—and does them well. Her Substack newsletter Bingeworthy is the mother ship for narrative podcast opinion, review, trends, and analysis. Hodder began the newsletter in September 2022 and has already amassed an impressive following.
Samantha is an award-winning audio producer and writer. She has been making media across multiple formats for over two decades. She publishes regularly on Mediumand on Substack. Her narrative storytelling podcast This is Our Time launched in 2017. It is a memoir-based story about an all-women’s expedition to Antarctica for women. Season 2 was featured in the Hot Docs Podcast Festival in 2021. She works as a freelance podcast producer, editor and narration script advisor. This year, she began to teach and mentor students at TMU and OCADU in narrative podcasting.
She also works with other writers and creatives one-on-one to help them find a winning narrative structure for their projects. To see if this approach could be helpful to your work, find her free 5-day email course Find Your Fish, which draws on lessons from screenwriting, podcasting, journaling and mindful meditation.
Over the last two decades her writing has appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines and her interactive work has premiered at festivals internationally. She was the recipient of the Al Waxman Calling Card for her first documentary, The Mantelpiece, which was broadcast on TVOntario, and premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Festival in 2004. Her short film The Nothingness That Is Everything opened in Venice, Italy in 2018.
And if all this information doesn't persuade you, Samantha is from Canada.
So I ask The Verge to consider these three talented women for the role at Hot Pod.  This esteemed publication deserves a person with a deep knowledge of podcasting and a lifelong passion for audio.
 **********************************************
Before I extol the virtues of this latest collaboration between Substack and Spotify, I must confess that I am a little wary. Spotify entered podcasting in earnest four years ago, and since then has created an industry-wide asset bubble that since has burst, purchased accomplished podcast studios like Parcast and Gimlet and dismantled them with no remorse, and produced and released a lot of crap.
So, we'll see how this goes.  Podcasters on Substack are collectively earning more than $100 million in annual revenue, a number that has more than doubled in the past year. The number of active podcasters on the platform has also more than doubled in the same time span. And it’s not just that new opportunities are available to podcasters bringing their shows to Substack—it’s benefiting existing Substack publications too. Those writers and creators who have added audio and/or video to their Substacks grow their revenue more than 2.5 times as fast as those who haven’t.
Substack makes it dead simple for anyone to independently create, publish, distribute, grow, and monetize a show.
“We used to have two different feeds, one for our paying subscribers and one for everyone to listen to free shows,” says @Alex Kirshner, a host of @Split Zone Duo, the biggest sports podcast on Substack. “We were looking for a way to put everything under one roof and make the experience as easy as possible for the people who pay us for our work. Moving to Substack from Patreon has let us do that and been very, very good for our growth in not even half a year.”
**************************************************
The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) empowers the media and marketing industries to thrive in the digital economy. Its membership comprises more than 700 leading media companies, brands, agencies, and the technology firms responsible for selling, delivering, and optimizing digital ad marketing campaigns. The trade group fields critical research on interactive advertising, while also educating brands, agencies, and the wider business community on the importance of digital marketing.
I know that's a mouthful, but the IAB holds an annual in-person and virtual meeting introducing new podcasts from some of the largest podcast networks.
The IAB's report on advertising revealed that digital advertising revenues reached a record-high of $225 billion, increasing by 7.3% year-over-year overall (YoY) between 2022 and 2023, according to the newly released “IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report: Full Year 2023,” conducted by PwC. The report found that Q4 saw the highest growth rate of 12.3% from the year prior (4.4%), with revenues rising to $64.5 billion. “Despite inflation fears, interest rates at record highs, and continuing global unrest, the U.S. digital advertising industry continued its growth trajectory in 2023,” said David Cohen, CEO, IAB. “With significant industry transformation unfolding right before our eyes, we believe that those channels with a portfolio of privacy by design solutions will continue to outpace the market. For 2023, the winners were retail media, CTV, and audio, which saw the highest growth.” Audio advertising also saw a robust expansion, growing 18.9% to reach $7 billion. It is still the fastest-growing channel, albeit at a slower pace than last year.
I know that most podcast fans have little interest in advertising trends and finances, but ads pay the bills for many podcasts.

The Process of Video Editing: A Comprehensive Guide
In today's digital age, video content has become an essential part of our lives. From social media platforms to professional productions, videos are used for various purposes, such as entertainment, education, and marketing. Behind every captivating video lies the intricate process of video editing. In this article, we will delve into the world of video editing, exploring the techniques, tools, and skills required to create stunning videos that engage and captivate the audience.
The Basics of Video Editing
What is Video Editing?
Video editing is the art of manipulating and arranging video footage, audio, and visual effects to create a coherent and visually appealing final product. It involves various processes, including trimming and rearranging clips, adding transitions, enhancing audio, and applying special effects. The primary goal of video editing is to tell a compelling story that resonates with the audience.
Why is Video Editing Important?
Video editing is crucial because it shapes the narrative and overall quality of a video. It allows content creators to convey their message effectively, enhance the viewer's experience, and create a polished and professional final product. Video editing can transform raw footage into a cohesive story, bringing out the best moments and ensuring a seamless flow from scene to scene. Also Video editing good for freelancing.
The Video Editing Process
Pre-production
The video editing process begins during the pre-production phase. This stage involves careful planning and organization to ensure a smooth workflow during filming and editing. Here are the key steps in the pre-production phase:
Scriptwriting: A well-written script forms the foundation of any successful video. It outlines the dialogue, scenes, and overall structure of the video.
Storyboarding: Storyboarding involves creating a visual representation of the script, scene by scene. It helps in visualizing the shots, camera angles, and transitions.
Shot List: A shot list is a detailed inventory of all the shots required for the video. It helps in organizing the filming process and ensures that no crucial shots are missed.
Gathering Assets: Pre-production is also the time to gather any additional assets required for the video, such as music, stock footage, or graphics.
Production
Once the pre-production phase is complete, the production phase begins. This is when the actual filming takes place, and the raw footage is captured. Here are the primary steps involved in the production phase:
Setting Up: The production crew sets up the filming location, ensuring proper lighting, sound, and camera setup.
Filming: The scenes outlined in the script are filmed according to the shot list and storyboard. Multiple takes may be necessary to capture the desired shots.
Audio Recording: In addition to video footage, audio is recorded, including dialogue, voiceovers, and ambient sounds. Good quality audio is crucial for a professional video.
Post-production
Post-production is where the magic of video editing truly happens. It is the phase where the raw footage is transformed into a polished and captivating video. Here are the essential steps in the post-production phase:
Importing Footage: The raw video footage and audio recordings are imported into a video editing software or tool.
Organizing: The imported footage is organized into folders and labeled to facilitate easy access during the editing process.
Video Editing: This is the heart of the post-production phase. The video editor trims and arranges the clips, adds transitions, and refines the pacing and timing. Effects, filters, and color grading are applied to enhance the visual appeal.
Audio Editing: The audio tracks are edited, cleaned up, and mixed to ensure optimal sound quality. Background music, sound effects, and voiceovers are added at this stage.
Adding Graphics and Effects: If required, graphics, titles, and special effects are incorporated to enhance the storytelling and visual impact.
Color Grading: Color grading is the process of adjusting and enhancing the colors and tones in the video to achieve a consistent and cohesive look.
Exporting: Once the editing is complete, the video is exported in the desired format, resolution, and quality suitable for its intended use.
Conclusion
The process of video editing is a multifaceted and creative endeavor that transforms raw footage into captivating videos. Through careful planning, organization, and meticulous editing techniques, video editors bring stories to life, engage audiences, and create visually stunning content. Whether you're an aspiring video editor or simply curious about the behind-the-scenes magic, understanding the process of video editing is the first step towards appreciating the art form.

Since 2005 she has worked for Linotype combining design with sales and marketing, though as the company’s Arabic type design programme has gathered momentum, so her role has shifted toward a greater emphasis in font development. Designs like Viva and Nueva explore new territory while maintaining traditional roots. In 1994, she received the Charles Peignot award from the Association Typographique Internationale for outstanding contributions to type design. Born in 1984, Jessica Nicole Hische is a renowned letterer and illustrator originally from South Carolina. After attaining a degree in graphic design and interactive design from Tyler School of Art, she worked with design firms like Headcase Design and Louise Fili. Eventually she felt that she could run a business of her own because she figured her freelancing projects were earning her more than a full-time job, so there was no-brainer there. Well, she thought like a smart businesswoman to-be by first collecting at least six-month worth finance to pay her bills before she left her job to start her venture. Of course when you’re hired you don’t need to worry much about how to get the projects, they’re assigned to you; but when you’re on your own you have to gain exposure for your personal brand and business. Hische’s first gig came from an acquaintance, and then onwards from regional and national magazines up towards brands like Wes Anderson and American Express. “I think it took three or four years of consistent end-of-year numbers to realize that I’d actually created a successful business”, said Hische in an interview.During this time, she has worked with major brands like Tiffany & Co., Victoria’s Secret, Samsung, Nike, OXFAM, Penguin Books, Starbucks and Target. The list will keep expanding as she progresses.

☆guess who's back!☆
IDK if I still have any mutuals on here after how long I've been away, but I'm back and excited to start posting again! I have a lot of fun written, musical and artistic content that I'm excited to share on here again. I've missed the text-based blog format and I'm ready to return! Without further ado, here are some of the projects I'll be working on this year.
My original musical "On Replay" is getting professional workshops done with the full length draft of the script and song demos THIS MAY! I have 3 weeks to finish my script and another 2 on top of that for my demos to be ready for audition weekend in march. I'm incredibly excited as this is my biggest and most long term passion project from when I did my first short-form workshops in August last year. I cannot wait to see where this goes.
I'm playing Dogberry in TAPAC's season of Much Ado About Nothing! The performance will be the weekend before I've set auditions for On Replay to be which will be tight but means I've finished the show before sorting auditions for another.
I'm going to start being active on my Youtube Channel "MeKaiElla" again! I'm going to be posting regular covers as of this weekend every 2 weeks, hopefully working on some more general youtube content as well if I can get a good video camera
I'll be posting regular content reviews of shows, movies, music and other art that I get to enjoy on here, hopefully at least weekly or two times a week
I'll be tabling at a LOT of conventions and markets this year, as many as I can get my hands on reserving to up my con-game and selling game this year. I haven't secured a table for Overload as of yet but I will be putting aside cash for when I get the email that a table is ready for me and whoever I plan to split it with!
Speaking of my art, I'm going to be investing a lot more time in making art more regularly, I've missed it and have been finding my joy in it again recently without pressure, but I want to improve my skills and build my graphic design and illustration brand if I can so I'll be posting more regularly, making and hopefully reaching feasible growth goals and hopefully be able to cultivate a supportive and large enough audience that I can open my very own Patreon.
My partner and best friend are working on a podcast! It'll either be called the "Three Braincell Podcast" or "The Chodecast" depending on what we decide, once my friend moves into her new place we're gonna get started on planning our format and getting some test streams and episodes out there.
I plan to work on more cosplay content as I am now an exec member of my university's cosplay association, I will be bringing monthly content both on here and at @azuresparkz.cos on instagram. I MAY be returning to tiktok creation at some point, but I'm still on the fence. It's been 3 years since I made Beetlejuice content on there and I havent redownloaded tiktok since may of last year, so we'll just have to see what happens.
I'm actively studying theatre and acting at university, so i want to put some of my time into writing skits and working more on my scripts and putting them to the performance test on both larger and smaller scales such as on youtube, reels and tiktok. I also
I've been applying for a TONNE of jobs, currently employed as a freelance graphic designer currently hired on a monthly basis by a Training Company and also working at a vineyard close to my parent's house. I've got 3 more jobs in the works, a cafe near my flat that's wanting me for casual work, a Theatre in the city looking for FOH and the University Magazine! I'm looking at the Cafe's contract today and am waiting on interview dates for both the magazine and the theatre this week, but all opportunities are very exciting! Hopefully I'll be able to organise myself and these jobs so I can prevent myself from overstretching with my studies, work and projects and not burn out like last year
My band "Kaloula" is going to be doing tonnes of gigs this year so I'll be posting bits and pieces about our gigs, recordings we do, and such and the like so if you're in the Auckland NZ area you should come check us out at the Portland Public House every other week @ 10pm! (once we get our dates for this year teehee)
I plan to also develop and produce a solo EP this year, ready for full release by the end of this year, with solos dropping throughout the year. I'll be talking more about this after my focus on my musical and it's concept album are complete.
So! A lot of plans, a lot to work on and a lot of opportunities and projects to be excited about. I can't wait to share all of this on here and connect more with an audience for all my exciting projects!
Much love, Em☆

How to Create an Explainer Video (In 6 Steps)
If you’re looking to create an explainer video for your business or product, you’ve come to the right place. In this blog post, we’ll take you through 6 steps that will help you create an impactful and engaging explainer video. But before we get into that, let’s first understand what an explainer video is and why it’s so important.
An explainer video is a short online video (usually 2-3 minutes long) that helps businesses communicate their value proposition and answer common questions from customers or prospects. Explainer videos are often used on websites, social media platforms, or email campaigns as a way to introduce the company or product in a quick and easy-to-understand format.
Now that we know what an explainer video is, let’s get into how you can create one for your business:
1. Define Your Goal – The first step to creating any successful marketing campaign is defining your goals. What do you hope to achieve with your explainer video? Are you looking to increase brand awareness? Drive website traffic? Generate leads? Once you’ve defined your goal, keep it in mind throughout the entire process of creating your video.
2. Write A Script – This is where the magic happens. In order to create a great explaier video, you need a strong scriptthat tells a compelling story while also communicating your key messages clearly and concisely . If writing isn’t your strong suit , there are plenty of freelance writers or agencies out there who can help turn your vision into reality .
3. Choose The Right Voice Over Artist – The voice over for your explainer videos should be chosen carefully because it will play a big role in how users perceive both

The Benefits of Creating an Explainer Video
While the benefits of creating an explainer video may not be immediately clear, taking the time to produce one can pay off in a big way. For businesses, an explainer video is a great way to concisely communicate what they do and why their products or services are worth investing in. In just a few minutes, an explainer video can introduce a company, its mission, and its offerings in a way that’s engaging and easy to understand. And because they’re so effective at communicating complex information quickly and clearly, explainer videos have become hugely popular with both consumers and businesses alike.
When it comes to creating an explainer video, there are really no rules – anything goes! However, there are some basic elements that all successful videos share. A good place to start is by focusing on these three key things:
1) Keep it short: The attention span of most viewers is limited, so it’s important to keep your video focused and under two minutes long.
2) Get straight to the point: Don’t try to cram too much information into your video; make sure you have one clear message that you want to communicate.
3) Use visuals: People are visual creatures, so incorporating images and graphics into your video will help capture attention and hold interest.
By following these simple tips, you can create an informative and engaging explainer video that will leave viewers wanting more – which is exactly what you want!
How to Create an Engaging Explainer Video
The first step to creating an engaging explainer video is understanding what your audience wants to see. Take some time to create personas for your target viewers and think about what would resonate with them. It’s also important to keep your video short and sweet-around two minutes is ideal. After all, you want people to watch the whole thing!
Once you know what content you want to include, it’s time to start thinking about the production process. To make sure your explainer video is top notch, work with a professional team that specializes in this type of project. The right company will be able to help you every step of the way-from scripting and storyboarding to shooting and post-production.
Last but not least, don’t forget to promote your video! Share it on social media, embed it on your website, and send it out in email newsletters. By getting creative with how you get people’s attention, you can ensure that your explainer video reaches its intended audience and makes a big impact.
Tips for Creating a Successful Explainer Video
If you’re looking to create an explainer video that will engage and inform your audience, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, determine the purpose of your explainer video. What do you want it to achieve? Once you know this, you can begin planning the script, visuals, and narration.
Creating a successful explainer video requires careful planning and execution. Here are a few tips to help you create an engaging and informative explainer video:
1. Determine the purpose of your explainer video. What do you want it to achieve? This will guide the development of your script, visuals, and narration.
2. Plan your story carefully. The best explainer videos have a clear beginning, middle, and end. They also avoid information overload by focusing on one key message or concept.
3a). Write a great script! A well-written script is essential for creating an engaging and effective explainer video..The dialogue should be natural sounding and easy to understand; avoid industry jargon unless you’re sure your audience will be familiar with it.”
3b). Work with a professional voiceover artist who can bring your script to life with their vocal talents (and they’ll know how to pronounce those tricky technical terms!).
4.)Visuals are important too! In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the visuals in your explainer video should support the narrator’s explanation of the concept or product…Think about using graphically-rich animation or real footage (or both!)”
What to Avoid When Making an Explainer Video
If you’re thinking about creating an explainer video for your business, there are a few things you should avoid doing if you want your video to be effective. Here are three mistakes to avoid when making your explainer video:
1. Don’t make your video too long. An explainer video should be around 2 minutes in length. Any longer and you risk losing your viewer’s attention.
2. Avoid using too much technical jargon. Remember that your goal is to explain your product or service in a way that is easy for viewers to understand. Use simple language and avoid industry-specific terms that might not be familiar to the average person.
3. Don’t forget about call-to-action. Your explainer video should have a clear call-to-action at the end, telling viewers what they should do next (e.g., visit your website, sign up for a free trial, etc.).
The Different Types of Explainer Videos
There are many different types of explainer videos, each with its own purpose and style. The most common types are whiteboard animation, live action, and animated.
Whiteboard animation is a type of video where the visuals are drawn on a whiteboard by an artist as the narrator explains the concept. This type of video is often used to simplify complex topics or make them more entertaining.
Live action videos use real people and settings to communicate their message. This can be done through interviews, testimonials, or even scripted scenes. Live action videos are often more relatable than other types of videos and can help to build trust with the viewer.
Animated explainer videos use graphics and animations to bring their message to life. This type of video is often used when a more light-hearted approach is needed or when the topic lends itself well to visual metaphors.
Why You Should Create an Explainer Video
If you’re reading this blog post, chances are you already have a pretty good idea of what an explainer video is and why they can be beneficial for businesses. But just in case you need a little refresher, an explainer video is basically a short (usually less than two minutes) video that concisely explains what your business does and how it can help solve your customer’s problem.
Explainer videos are effective because they quickly capture attention and articulate complex ideas in a way that audiences can easily understand. And since 65% of people are visual learners, using visuals to communicate your message is always going to be more impactful than relying on text alone.
But beyond the general benefits of using video marketing, there are some specific reasons why creating an explainer video should be high on your list of priorities:
Conclusion
There you have it! By following these six steps, you’ll be on your way to creating an amazing explainer video in no time. And don’t forget, the most important step of all is to have fun with it! After all, if you’re not enjoying the process, your viewers won’t either.
