Cherry Magic Episode 5 Review - Jealousawa
This was the funniest episode by far! I was laughing and having a fun time watching it! It really helped me get through a rather rough day I had today. This episode is basically Kurosawa’s jealousy episode. He’s so comically jealous that it’s hilarious. Man, I love it when BL tops are so expressive. There’s a certain cuteness to it. There’s also the funny bits with Fujisaki too! I really like it when BL gets comedic because I need some laughter in my life.
Kurosawa was THE star of this episode with his hilarious moments. The part where his reason and desire were brawling with each other was hilarious; though, the manga made it a bit more extreme as Reason punched Desire a lot harder. The fact that Adachi saw all of that was hilarious. Then there are the scenes of him getting jealous of Rokkaku. It was hilarious from the part where he gave him a smug look for staying over at Adachi’s place to his shocked face when Adachi invited him over to Kurosawa looking mad when he got forced to sleep with Rokkaku. Man, he was the source of my laughter throughout the episode.
There’s also the comedic parts with Fujisaki. She’s a lot different than in the live-action version. In the drama version, Fujisaki is just a kind girl who doesn’t really want to do what is expected of women her age, like getting a boyfriend or seeking love. She was really sweet too, so she was a bit of a fan-favorite. Here, she’s a hardcore fujoshi. The way Ami Koshimizu went all out on her internal fangirling over Kurosawa and Adachi was so good; she’s such a great voice actress. The part where Adachi touched her and heard thoughts about her being interested in him was hilarious because he always pulled back before she started going crazy with her thoughts. Sorry, Adachi, she wants you to get with Kurosawa and not her.
In the midst of the comedy, there are heartwarming bits. While Rokkaku was a bit annoying, the way Adachi starts seeing him in a different light after realizing that he still has his dancing passion was nice. It does show that internal and external appearances are a lot different. He acts flighty but he’s not on the inside. I think that’s what Adachi seems to like about him, platonically (I had to add this because I felt as if Kurosawa as going to attack me from behind if I didn’t). If you didn’t know, there are hints that Rokkaku and Minato, the delivery boy Tsuge is in love with, are friends and they are.
I also liked seeing Adachi helping Fujisaki out with work. It shows that even if he’s pessimistic with himself, he does seem to like being relied upon. The way he was being all nice to Kurosawa at the train was sweet too. I do get why Adachi was a bit scared of being around Kurosawa after he noticed his jealously towards Rokkaku. Kurosawa is physically strong, so his strength scares him. It makes sense if you were startled when a normally gentle person becomes a bit aggressive.
Now that Kurosawa confessed, how would Adachi respond back? Find out next week! While I know Kurosawa does confess in the middle of the story, I forgot what happened. I probably won’t re-read the manga to see what happens until next week’s episode airs. Anyways, what were your favorite moments of this episode?

I'm having a good time watching the anime adaptation of Cherry Maho 🍒🧙🏻♂️ The BL drama is one of my comfort shows and it's nice to see them be able to pull off comedic gags that they couldn't in live action. When enough time has passed and it's not so fresh in my mind I'll read the original manga.
That being said one thing the live action drama has over the anime (and I assume the manga) (imo !) is using the opportunity for aromantic and asexual visibility. It was such a nice surprise the first time around and I honestly prefer it, while still being a Kurodachi cheerleader who supports them as a friend. ☺️
