So I saw the first s2 trailer the day it dropped, and this dark!Gabriel plot bunny was born and wrote itself in record time. Other than using further promotional materials to try and find Shax and Gabriel's voices, I have not used any further s2 content (the full list of things I tinkered with is in the author's notes of the linked fic)

I have not seen any advanced screenings for S2; any further similarities are entirely coincidental.

Hello everyone! I’m happy to announce that the first installment of my Gabriphale fanfic, “SoHo Turtledoves”, is coming out this Valentine’s Day!

“SoHo Turtledoves” will be an anthology story of Aziraphale and Gabriel’s relationship between the 1860s to the 1920s, and beyond! I will post this fic bi-weekly on AO3!

In more recent times, Gabriel had started to spend more time with the Principality on Earth. Gabriel became curious about the ways of modern human society. Firstly, because to be an Archangel that guided humanity, he would need to understand humanity. Aziraphale was the best fit to help Gabriel with that as he had lived the longest here on Earth, and so Gabriel made more and more visits to Aziraphale to learn about it, or discuss about topics in the backroom.

Out of all the angels, Aziraphale was perhaps the one angel who knew the closest of what it was like to be human. And not just because he lived on Earth the longest, no. Aziraphale was soft in the ways he was not. Indulgent in ways he was not. In contrast, Gabriel lived to work. He thought that the grace and glory of God was all that he needed to function, and that all Earthly desires were distractions, unless they were relevant to his duties, like how human fashion best displayed some of the beauty this world was willing to offer. Yet Aziraphale was happier than he was, though he had so many Earthly attachments.

Gabriel thought that the Principality was perpetually nervous 24/7. Turned out, Aziraphale was often nervous because he was there. But it was once Gabriel learnt to slow down and pay more attention to Aziraphale’s signs, he saw just how happy Aziraphale was to live here. Slowly, but surely, Aziraphale began to smile around Gabriel more. He was so cheery, yet so comforting to be around. Gabriel liked the way the Principality shimmied his shoulders whenever he was excited about something. How the sunlight made his eyelashes glow whenever he was reading a book, eyes half-lidded. And he found other many countless, tiny little things endearing about the Principality. Gabriel was glad Aziraphale gave him a second chance.

So yes. It was appropriate to say Aziraphale and Gabriel had grown closer in recent times, beyond their boss and subordinate status. And sometimes, Gabriel wondered if there could be something more.

It was a night they had arranged to talk for a bit. With no human customers around, they usually liked to talk on one of the bookshop’s chesterfields. They sometimes drank spirits and wines as well. Gabriel was still skeptical of the concept of chewing food and swallowing the cold mush for pleasure, but he liked the alcohol fine, and how fiery and sweet the liquid tasted.

However, although the sign was flipped over, there were no lights on in the bookshop.

“‘Ziraphale?” Gabriel called out. Maybe he was so engrossed in reading he forgot to turn on the lights? Aziraphale often lost track of time that way.

But no. Gabriel checked all corners of the bookshop, but Aziraphale was nowhere to be seen. He started to panic. Where are you, Aziraphale? He wanted to ask him. Surely he remembered their meetings.

Then, Gabriel heard the sound of soft crying. Gabriel followed it and came upon a closed door. There were no light coming from the cracks, but Aziraphale’s crying came from within.

“Aziraphale?” Gabriel knocked at the door harder. “I checked the rest of the bookshop. I wasn’t able to find you.” He paused. He needed to find the right words. Gabriel cringed as he chose the most obvious ones. “Are you alright?”

I think the reason that I'm more willing to read/write stuff with versions of Good Omens!Gabriel being nice and having a good relationship with Aziraphale(romantic or otherwise), than stuff with versions of Dean that are nice and that have a good relationship with Castiel(romantic or otherwise), despite both Gomens!Gabe and Dean having been abusive dicks to their respective victims, is:

1. Dean did a lot worse things to Cas on-screen, than Gabe ever did to Azira.  It was implied that Gabe had been a dick to Azira throughout his 6000 years of working for him, but not much was shown on-screen.  Outside of the sentencing-Aziraphale-to-death-for-the-failed-Apocalypse thing, the worst thing Gabe ever did was make a couple mean remarks about Azira's weight and just generally being a condescending better-than-thou asshole.

But Dean has canonically physically beaten up Cas, said multiple things to him that were just as if not more cruel than Gabe's "shut up and die already" line, has kicked him out of the closest thing he had to a home, abandoned him and let him be homeless when he first became human(because he was no longer "useful" to him), treated him like just a tool that only exists to help him and his brother in their quest of genocide, treated him like just a "thing" and a "monster to be hunted”, abused and threatened to kill the kid Cas sees as a son multiple times, locked said son in that fucking box thing, constantly belittled him and mocked him, threw things violently and hit things around him whenever he was angry, and more!

2. also my hatred of Hunters and unwillingness to ever glorify or say good things about Hunting also contributes to it, as most non-AU fanfics/rps/etc. where Dean is nice still have the Winchesters being Hunters, portray Hunting as “good” and “noble” and “heroic” and “saving people”, and have Cas helping the Winchesters and basically being a class traitor and killing his own kind.
