Caretakers with wings.
Wings wrapping around a sobbing Whumpee in addition to Caretaker's arms.
Whumpee burying their face in the soft feathers after a long and stressful day.
Caretaker using their wings to hide Whumpee from view while escaping with them.
Wings being used as an extra layer, extra blanket, while Whumpee shivers in their sleep.
Wings spread wide in a threat display to anyone who dares hurt Whumpee.
Caretaker flying Whumpee to a place where Whumper can never get to them.
Whumper being flown very high into the air, high enough that the fall would kill them, with Caretaker threatening to drop them if they don't apologize.

Rescuers/medics bringing in a more “emotionally aware” member of their crew to talk to a recently rescued Whumpee, who has spent the past few days lashing out and refusing any treatment.
They’re crouched behind their bed when Caretaker walks in, wide eyes watching them intently. They know Caretaker can see them—the bed is giving them a sense of security, Caretaker figures, a barrier between them and anyone else.
Caretaker keeps their voice soft, but loud enough that Whumpee can hear them. “Hey,” they start.
“You’re Whumpee, right?” They only nod to themself, knowing the answer. “I’m Caretaker…” They notice the apprehension in Whumpee’s stare.
“I’m not a medic, don’t worry. I just want to talk to you, would that be okay?”
Whumpee finally nods. Good, an acknowledgment.
Caretaker slowly lowers themselves to their knees, stopping at eye level with Whumpee. Notably, they hadn’t attempted to come any closer, nor attempted to move Whumpee from behind the bed.
“I heard you were a little upset this morning. Is that true?”
Finally, a verbal response.
“Yeah.”
“I heard you got pretty angry, with the medic. That true, too?”
“…Am I in trouble?”
Caretaker shakes their head, resting their hands on their knees. “No, not at all. I just want to understand what happened. Do you know why you were angry?”
“…No. I just didn’t want them near me.”
They hummed in thought. “Well…I’ve also heard you haven’t been able to sleep since we brought you here.”
Whumpee was silent, but frowned.
“I know I always feel pretty crappy when I can’t sleep. I get angrier than I mean to. Do you think maybe that’s why?”
“…Maybe.”
“Well, that’s alright. I can help you figure out how to get some sleep, we can talk about that too. But do you remember specifically why you lashed out at the medic today? What did—“
“He grabbed me. I don’t want people to grab me. He wouldn’t stop grabbing me.”
Caretaker nodded again, shifting their jaw as they listened. “That makes sense. I probably wouldn’t like that, either. What if he asked to touch you, before he did?”
Whumpee was silent again, but they quirked their head to the side. Considering.
“I’m sure we can all do that, asking to do things. We can tell you what we’re doing, before we do it. So you know how we’re helping you. Would that help? I think that’d be a lot less frustrating.”
Whumpee mumbled, now. They’d come closer to the other side of the bed.
“Maybe, yeah.”
Caretaker smiled warmly. “That’s good, I can tell them that. Now…I wanna help you get some sleep. I think that’ll help you feel a lot better, too.”
They watch Whumpee quietly as they climb back onto the bed, careful not to move too quickly themselves.
“Is it hard to sleep in here?”
No answer again. Caretaker glances over to the window.
“It’s pretty bright outside, isn’t it? Even with the parking lot lights at night. I can get some heavier curtains, if you’d—“
“It’s hot.” Whumpee’s voice is barely there, a hushed mumble.
Caretaker’s eyebrows raise, their expression a relieved smile. This was good.
“Yeah? I can’t sleep if it’s too warm, either. Here, I can…” They very slowly rise to stand, keeping eye contact with Whumpee as they do so. “I can lower the temperature, that’ll help a lot. I’ll just make it a little cooler in here…I can make sure you have water at night, too. Nice cold water.”
Whumpee watches them closely as they adjust the temperature, less apprehensive than before.
Caretaker suppresses a chuckle at Whumpee’s expression. “You look pretty tired, Whumpee. You wanna try sleeping again?”
“…Maybe.”
They let Caretaker help adjust them into a sleeping position, leaving the blanket by their ankles for now. As Caretaker goes for the light switch, Whumpee calls out one more time.
“Will you come back?”
“Sure I will, Whumpee. I’ll check on you a lot, you can ask for me whenever you want. Why?”
“I…liked talking to you.”
“I liked talking to you, too, Whumpee.”
Whumpee’s prolonged nap that day was the best sleep they’d had in months.

cw: hospital/medical stuff mentions, unspecified illness or injury
“You wanna pick up some food on the way?” Caretaker asked, steering her car out of the parking garage and to the intersection.
Whumpee, sitting under a blanket on the passenger seat, watched the hospital disappear as they drove away on the mostly empty highway. He rubbed the pit of his elbow where a small bandage remained to stop the slight bleeding from a cannula.
It had been a long day. New bottles of medicine rattled in the pockets of his jacket when he shifted into a more comfortable position and leaned their head against the headrest. They had sat in the waiting room the whole evening before finally being admitted, and discharged only a couple of hours after. Caretaker hadn’t even tried to argue with the staff anymore. It always ended like this. Not enough beds and not enough people to take care of the ones lying on them.
Whumpee knew he was lucky. He knew he’d be safe going home with Caretaker. But it didn’t mean he didn’t keep dreaming about the day he’d be taken seriously. He’d receive proper care. Otherwise he’d just have to keep going back, over and over again. More pills, more bills, more wasted hours.
“Hello?”
“Oh, uh,” Whumpee blinked, realizing he hadn’t actually given Caretaker a response. “No, I… we should just head home. You’ve got work in the morning, and it’s already way past midnight.”
His stomach let out a loud rumbling sound just then, and Caretaker gave him a quiet look, which Whumpee pretended to not see. He could fix himself a bowl of yogurt at home. Caretaker needed sleep. She deserved it, after putting aside her own responsibilities just to stay with him again.
“What if I told you I already took tomorrow off?”
"What?" Whumpee turned to her, shaking his head. “Caretaker, no. You shouldn’t have.”
Caretaker shrugged. “It’s Friday, we get to have a head start for the weekend. Won’t that be fun?” Her smile faltered slightly and her voice shifted lower, to more serious. “The nurse said someone should keep an eye on you — and I wouldn’t want to leave you, anyway. You still need help.”
Whumpee knew that. He looked down, fidgeting with the hospital wristband. If he’d kept every one of those he’d got even during the past year, he could probably sew them together to make full sleeves for both arms. Money was already tight, as Caretaker worked to support the both of them, and Caretaker missing work because of Whumpee’s various appointments and frequent trips to the ER had had their effect on their income.
“Yes, but…” he said, the familiar tearing feeling of shame finding its place. “I thought we would call Friend or Sibling to stay with me while you’re at work. We have before.”
“Now we don’t have to.” Caretaker glanced at him, frowning. “Do you not… want me to stay?”
“Didn’t they say you can’t keep doing this anymore if you plan to keep your position?” Whumpee asked. “You like your job. I don’t want you to risk losing it because of me.”
“They will understand. I told them it is a family matter.”
Whumpee’s cheeks got hot and he moved his focus away from Caretaker again, watching out of the window instead. They were passing by shops, parks, and pubs, taking many turns in the little streets of their labyrinth of a hometown. Whumpee hadn’t even noticed they had left the main road, but he definitely recognised where Caretaker was heading.
“You didn’t have to lie because of me,” he mumbled, as Caretaker pulled into the parking lot of a local, 24-hour barbeque restaurant they both loved. “About it being a… a family thing.”
Caretaker turned to Whumpee, finally being able to give him her undivided attention as she turned off the engine, smiling softly.
“I didn’t.”

i think my fav whump trope is the caretaker who learned to be so gentle from their own experience as a whumpee. nobody has any idea how much violence it took for caretaker to become so gentle, but they would sacrifice everything if it meant giving whumpee the love + care they never got themself when they escaped their whumper

i am ALL DOWN for caretakers who are soft and gentle towards the whumpee, with all the hair brushing, back rubbing, the "you're okay"s and the "sweetheart"s, but then they go and beat the ever living shit out of a whumper

Caretaker had to learn how to be soft and gentle with Whumpee. They’re not a naturally gentle person, and though they mean well and hold no intention of hurting Whumpee, they’re harsh and their mannerisms are brash and curt in a way that makes Whumpee shiver and start with fear. It takes willing effort for Caretaker to decide they don’t want to scare Whumoee anymore and take the steps to learn how to be gentle with them.

One of my favorite tropes is Whumpee waking up from a nightmare-plagued sleep or blank unconsciousness and immediately instinctively panicking.
tasty flavors include:
-Caretaker is right there, holding their hands out loosely & reassuring Whumpee that it's OK, it's over, they're safe... and it is OK, it is over, they are safe
-Caretaker is right there, holding their hands out loosely & reassuring Whumpee that it's OK, it's over, they're safe... and it is NOT OK or over, Caretaker is now a prisoner too
-Whumper is right there, caressing Whumpee & sweetly saying they hope Whumpee had a good rest because they're going to need it
-Whumpee is alone & can't tell whether or not they're safe (optional not recognizing the space they're in)
-Whumpee's trauma happened years ago & they still wake up like this way too fucking often. Maybe they avoid sharing a sleeping space out of embarrassment or shame. Maybe Caretaker is there every single morning to support them.

Warmth
[masterlist]
it doesn't look like it but this is a comfy drabble, i promise!! the inspo (and wish for some comfort) is from @whumpcloud. you've read this already but here <3
CW: dehumanisation, abandonment issues, pet whump, self-loathing
It is still dark outside when Mutt wakes up, drenched in sweat, panting from memories that haunt his brain. A moment later, he realises what woke him up, as the night sky is lit up by a flash of lightning, a growling thunder following only moments later. Mutt can feel the rumbling deep down in his bones, making him shiver.
He had been locked outside once during a thunderstorm, the punishment still fresh in his mind. Bound and gagged, of course, so he couldn’t draw attention to himself with his pathetic whimpering and keening.
There had been rain and hail, soaking him to the bone, making the Mutt even more susceptible to the unforgiving cold seeping into his joints. He had wanted nothing more than a shred of his old Master’s mercy, as the thunder rolled over him.
Mutt shakes his head to rid himself of the memories, his fingers twitching. He won’t be able to fall back asleep, he knows, but he needs to be fit enough to serve his Master in the morning!
Almost on auto-pilot, Mutt gets out of bed. He has to be careful when standing up, his mangled legs still struggling to hold him up. When he walks to his door, he no longer avoids stepping on the rug.
Aimlessly, he wanders onto the dim corridor, the old wood creaking under his irregular and heavy steps. Mutt tries not to be too loud, lest he wakes Master up. Fatigue tugs at his eyelids, making them droop, and his stroll does little to clear his muddy mind. He stumbles around, losing time.
Suddenly, he feels something cold and hard and when his eyes focus again, he is holding the handle to his Master’s bedroom in his ruined hand, the door already opened a crack. Just barely, he can see the sleeping form of his Master, curled up under the covers, her hands loosely clasped together in front of her face and oh–
He is Atlas now, isn’t he?
As if in a trance, Atlas enters her room, still not quite here, not quite there. Something pulls him forwards, a pressure getting stronger with each step, like a moth fluttering towards the light. He forces himself to stop a couple of steps away from her, ignoring how empty it makes him feel.
Hasn’t she given enough for him? Must he now also take her sleep? Her rest?
Atlas forces his mind to blank and himself to stop, to turn around as silently as possible. She needs her rest for all the troubles he’ll inevitably bring her in the morning, when he can’t get a hold of himself, can’t do the things a human is supposed to do. He can’t keep taking and taking and taking from her, but some part of him craves her presence so much and he despises himself for it. Maybe he will never be anything but a Pet but for some reason he can’t place, that seems so intrinsically connected to his very being, he only feels whole when he’s with her.
For a moment, he is outside again, chained and gagged in the freezing rain, thoroughly unwanted. This time, it is Atlas who holds the key, dangling it just out of reach from his desperate self. He understands his old Master now, he thinks, understands why he locked a creature like him out. It is only right.
Before he can take another step, he hears a sleepy groan right behind him, freezing up. Atlas fears looking around, fears seeing Master’s hateful gaze, even though he can’t conjure up a fitting image, no matter how hard he tries. He still does –of course he does– his breath catching in his throat.
With her eyes still closed, Aveline has lifted one arm to hold her blanket up, as if inviting him in. Like a man dying of thirst discovering a miracle oasis, Atlas stumbles closer. It seems too good to be true and if there is one thing he has learned, it’s that no good ever befalls a Pet like him. Still, he wants to hope.
“For me?” Atlas croaks into the dark, as hushed as his damaged vocal cords allow him.
Her response is nothing more than a drowsy mhm and a light, lazy gesture with her hand. Hesitantly, Atlas steps closer. He shouldn’t know how this goes, should be overwhelmed with the very real possibility of doing this wrong and subsequently being thrown out. But he isn’t.
The movements feel like second nature, even as he navigates his bulky frame first onto her bed and then into the embrace of the much smaller woman. Atlas doesn’t have to think, his body moves on its own, which is undoubtedly a good thing because if he allowed himself to process what he was doing, he’d surely panic.
As he lays down on his side, Aveline lowers her arm to cover him with the blanket too, then settles it over the side of his chest. It should be the worst crime a Pet like him could commit, to lay his head on her soft pillow, to curl up against her warm body, to feel her snuggle up against his marred back. But for some reason, it doesn’t feel like a crime. It just feels like home.
Atlas deflates in her arms, sighing. Her touch is tender, not restricting, tethering Atlas to this world, as sobs start to build up in his chest against his will. If he cries now, he will surely ruin the best thing his life has ever allowed him.
Maybe this is a dream and tomorrow he will wake up alone in his own bed but none of that matters in this moment. Unconsciously, his crooked hand searches for hers, clinging to it. Aveline squeezes it back, as a couple of stray silent tears start to escape his eyes.
Her body is warm and she holds him tight. Atlas can feel her resting her head softly against the nape of his neck, whispering that Everything is going to be alright.
Atlas sniffles, his tears soaking into the pillow. They lay like that for a while, Aveline’s thumb stroking soothingly over the back of his hand, careful with the raised scar tissue.
Pets like him aren’t made for this kind of comfort, this all-encompassing warmth; her kindness feels like an unbelievable gift. He’d do anything for her, Atlas decides, as his eyes grow heavy and start to slip close. He can’t hear the harsh thunder anymore, can’t feel the cold rain.
Atlas knows he doesn’t deserve it, even as he falls asleep, but–
He wishes someone had been this kind to him before.

Thoughts:
I am genuinely surprised that to my knowledge there isn’t a whump list for this drama out already. This series is packed full of whump, both physical and mental, with very protective caretakers!! My gosh, Prapai and Phayu are the most protective caretakers I have come across in a LONG time. Both of them are willing to physically put themselves in harm’s way to protect their partners and it’s so sweet. The way Prapai is so gentle with Sky as the series progresses, and the absolute fury in his eyes to anyone who tries to hurt Sky. For someone who starts off as a major playboy, Prapai truly is a gentleman through and through by the end. Sky has really been through some shit, and is incredibly traumatised from his ordeals, it takes him a while to warm up to Prapai due to his trust issues. But when he eventually does let Prapai in, Prapai treats him with the utmost care. The scene in episode 13 where Sky opens up about his abuse was so beautifully done imo, and the actors did an amazing job, particularly for Prapai’s actor, who’s eyes are so emotional, it’s an incredibly moving and sad scene.
Phayu also is suuuper protective of Rain and even allowed himself to be beaten up so he could protect him. He’s also very dominant over Rain, keeping his cheeky (read: Bratty) nature in check, as well as being highly respected by his peers in the motorcycle racing community.
As mentioned in the TW, this drama does have triggering themes to do with SA involving Sky, so please proceed with caution. If you need any more information in order to decide whether this is appropriate for you, please feel free to send me a message and I can help you out.
As always, my favourite/whumpier episodes are highlighted in bold, see you next time!

Caretaker and Whumpee had a bad fight and are not speaking to each other, but it doesn't mean Caretaker will stop looking after Whumpee. Yes, they're still upset, but they're still bringing Whumpee dinner to bed when they're not able to dine at the table. They'll still help them get dressed and give them their medicine. They'll still wake them up from nightmares.
Because things will resolve, and they're going to be okay, and Caretaker suspects this is Whumpee testing them; saying hurtful things on purpose, seeing what it takes for Caretaker to give up and leave, to let Whumpee down like everyone else in their life has.
Caretaker is determined to show them that that's never going to happen.
