Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed & Ginger Snaps Back both were filmed back to back and had their special makeup effects realized by KNB EFX Group; Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger designed the werewolf and makeup effects for both films, with Robert Kurtzman also being a designer on Ginger Snaps Back.

The werewolf suits in both films are furred, contrasting Jones' design in the previous film; the suits were realized in a similar fashion otherwise, with a performer walking on all fours with limb extensions and a headpiece fitted with animatronic receives.

I really like how in the first movie, Ginger thinks that Brigette is too docile and that's why she exists, to protect her, and in Unleashed, Brigette finally understands that by her taking the big sister role with Ghost, but this time the little sister is smarter and even more cruel. Brigette really thought she was the Ginger between them. She was wrong.

Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)

TW: As with the first film, some of this movie revolves around self harm, suicide, and drug abuse. Be aware of triggers.

Just within the opening montage, I can tell that the series was affected by the post 9/11 trauma porn boom, but I think it helped the story. Using this storytelling technique, we could see how much of the events from the first film affected Bridgette.

Holy hell, some of these doctors said some OUT OF POCKET shit. It did cut the tension that Bridgette was facing, but not enough to take the focus away from the internal struggle.

If the first film is an allegory for growing up, this is a testament to the worst parts of adulthood and how they can absolutely break us.

You should watch this film for:

medical malpractice

a really sexy voiceover from a deceased character (oh my god.)
