Among the many delightful bits of sketchy English @arbitrarygreay and I found in Megazone 23 Part III is this particular poster, with the fantastic videogame subtitle of Return of GOFER. It was, I thought, an odd detail to include in what was otherwise a fairly spot-on "Gradius" reference...until I thought to go and see what the actual Gradius II artwork looked like.

GOFER! Apparently he's the boss bad guy for this game? Who even knew the enemies for this series had names? I wonder if there's any as delightful as GOFER, which clearly resonated enough with the Megazone 23 people to modify in to what appears to be, from the title, Gradius II 2.

Also: DAMN, Japanese videogame art went hard in the eighties.

- this idea was inspired by the fact that - though u probably can't tell due to the poor quality of the product lol - i found some pearl and glitter crayons and HAD to buy so i could try them out with two of the sparkliest and shining characters i love 🩷

- the entire piece is made of cardstock that's been cut out, colored, shaped, and coated with glitter (the dance floor and the disco ball) !

- Disco's outfit is my fairly modest take on classic 70's male fashion - high waisted slacks and a buttoned down button up shirt ! Heike's was more of a hybrid creation based off of an outfit worn by the icon, Cher, and some sparkly glitter jumpsuit i saw on Pinterest lol
