i think i have created the absolute worst Devil Fruit imaginable please give me your thoughts:

Sakana Sakana (Fish Fish) no Mi, Model: Goldfish

its a Zoan Devil Fruit that allows its users to transform into a goldifsh, or a goldfish hybrid, however...

in both Hybrid and Full Transformation forms, the user needs water in order to breath: and due to their large size requires an incredible amount of water to breath: at least a few ounces per “breath,” thus you could require a bulky, complex machine to constantly give you water to breath!

the only way you could possible breath consistently with the DF active would be to jump into a body of water... and due to eating a Devil Fruit, the transformation would not only be instantly nullified and revert you back to normal form; you still can’t swim, so you’d drown!

not only that, but the Devil Fruit creates a natural dehydration effect in its user due to the Zoan being aquatic in nature: you’d need to drink about ten times as much water as normal people!

“wait, can it get worse!?” yes, actually! it creates an incredible urge in the user to swim... so if around a large body of water, you’d have to struggle with all your might to not jump into the water to swim and drown!

Que hay que considerar a la hora de montar un acuario de goldfish

Los goldfish tienen la errónea fama de ser peces para principiantes y esto esta muy alejado de la realidad ya que estos peces generan muchos desechos, por lo tanto, es necesario tener conocimientos sobre varios temas de acuariofilia ya que en muchas tiendas no te asesoran correctamente con tal de vender, en esta ocasión voy a tocar estos temas de manera breve para posteriormente tratarlos de manera más extensa.

 Tamaño del acuario para goldfish

Cuando iniciamos en este hobby por lo general empezamos con acuario muy pequeños ya que es lo más accesible económicamente hablando, pero esto a larga nos cuesta más caro ya que con acuario pequeños no podemos proporcionar a nuestros peces unas buenas condiciones para vivir bien y en muchas ocasiones terminan muriendo y nosotros frustrados, por eso necesitas conocer los requerimientos de los goldish antes de elegir el tamaño de nuestro acuario.

Primero que nada hay que considerar el tamaño de adulto de nuestros peces ya que aunque los compremos pequeños son seres vivos y van a crecer, un goldfish puede llegar a tener una talla de  hasta 20 o 25 cm en un acuario donde disponga de suficiente espacio es por esto que se recomienda contemplar 40 litro por pez así que partiendo de esta regla lo mínimo para un acuario de goldifsh recomiendo que sean 150 litros pero ojo, esto es ya después de restar el espacio que ocupara la grava, plantas, troncos o rocas que se calcula le resta el 25% a la capacidad de la urna.

 Calidad del agua

Los goldfish al igual que otras especies de peces tiene sus propios requerimientos de parámetros de agua y es importante cumplir con ellos para evitar problemas futuros en la salud, los parámetros que necesita un goldfish son los siguientes:

·         pH entre 7.0 y 7.5

·         Gh entre 5 y 10 ° dGH

·         Kh entre 5 y 10 ° dKH

·         Amoniaco 0 ppm

·         Nitritos 0 ppm

·         Nitratos un máximo de 20 ppm

·         Temperatura del agua entre 15 y 22 °C

 Grava o sustrato

En este tema no hay mucho de donde escoger, la grava que debemos usar en nuestro acuario de goldfish debe ser gruesa y sin bordes filosos, la más recomendada es la grava natural de rio de color oscuro que tiene un diámetro de unos 3mm o bien se puede usar también la grava cacahuate, si lo que queremos es un sustrato para plantas podemos usar la arlita aunque las plantas que podemos tener con los goldfish no son tan exigentes que ocupen un sustrato nutritivo ya es decisión de cada uno si queremos invertir en este tipo de sustrato. Lo que si no debemos poner en el acuario es esa grava de colores que venden en los acuarios, no es apto para nuestros peces.

 Decoración

La decoración adecuada para nuestro acuario deberá ser basada en plantas naturales, troncos y rocas cuidando que los troncos y rocas no tengas aristas filosas o puntiagudas, muchas personas decoran con los adornos que venden en los acuarios con figuras de barcos, castillos, etc., en lo personal no me gusta este tipo de decoración.

 Filtración

El tema de la filtración de nuestro acuario es de suma importancia ya que de ello depende la salud de nuestros peces, los goldfish son peces que producen mucha suciedad por lo tanto tenemos que buscar que nuestra filtración además de mover como mínimo un volumen de 5 veces la capacidad del acuario, sea capaz de retener muchos desechos y que nos de la oportunidad de albergar los tres tipos de filtración, mecánica, química y biológica.

Voy a dar una repasada rápida a los 3 tipos de filtración para hablar mas detallada de ellas en otra ocasión.

Filtración mecánica es la que se realiza con materiales como esponjas o perlón y su finalidad es retener las suciedad y restos de comida o plantas.

Filtración química es la que se realiza con materiales como carbón activo o zeolita y su finalidad es absorber sustancian toxicas o medicamentos que se encuentran en el agua y su uso no es permanente.

Filtración biológica es la que realiza con materiales como canutillos de cerámica o tezontle que gracias a su porosidad es capaces de alojar la colonia bacteriana que nos ayudara a realizar el ciclo del nitrógeno del agua.

 Estos son unos de los puntos más importantes a considerar a la hora de montar un acuario de goldfish, hay otros puntos como la iluminación, los compañeros de nuestros peces, etc. pero estos los trataré en individual en futuros artículos.

My building doesn’t allow pets, but my parents keep goldfish. I know those aren’t real pets, but anyway. We originally had four goldfish, my favourite were called Goldy-Red and Goldy-Yellow, they were both goldifsh, probably brothers, about 10 cm long and I swear I could tell the difference between them. I swear. 

Eventually some of the goldfish did the do with some of the other goldfish and we got 20 or so baby goldifsh. The old ones died. The goldfish died, ate each other or got eaten by birds and cats (the fish live in a pond made of fibreglass, that my dad bought from a hardware store and installed with layers of sheeting and gravel in the backyard) until four were left, again.

And eventually those fish reproduced as well, but after several years they got sick and died. My dad theorizes that the old fish, accustomed to growing up in the dirty, algae-clogged conditions of the pond, were sort of okay at surviving, but the new fish were entirely unaccustomed and basically died from toxin shock.

Most recently we bought some new goldfish that my dad slowly introduced to the pond and they are healthy, we feed them every day and they’re quite happy. Although they don’t know me that well cos I don’t see them that often, so they usually hide underneath lily leaves when I try to visit them.
