Little comic about the discovery of the augurs 🐌

After a long day in the depths of the pthumerians’ tombs, the guardians of Byrgenwerth were finally heading back to the surface.

On the way back something caught their eyes and made them stop. In a small corner covered in mold and inbetween old candles, they saw what look liked crystalline pearls against the wall. More disturbing was in front of it, the mummified remains a a huge invertebrate.

They got closer. The gatekeeper and the groundskeeper exchange looks while the graveguard went to take the dead gastropod.

They couldn't believe it! Phantasm! The signs of the great ones! They finally found them!

Liam : We absolutely need to bring them back to Master Willem! He will be ecstatic!

Gehrman : I know! But we need to be sure there's no risk to bring them to the surface like this. It could be disastrous!

Dores : Maybe we can just take the mummified slug for now. Leave the rest here and go tell Master Willem. Then we'll go back to got them.

Liam : But... we can't just leave them here like this! If something were to happened while we're gone... the provost we'll never forgive us...

Gehrman : Hm... oh I might have an idea!

They took delicately the slimy eggs and put them in a urn. There it should be safe for now. No Dores don't lick them just to see! They left a lantern not too far from it and head back.

At their returned, they show the Provost the remains of what could indeed be an augur from what he told them. They explain they might have found eggs as well. The Provost couldn't believe it. He rush them to show him. They needed to get them back into their care!

After retrieving them the scholars tried to take care of them as much as possible. They could only pray for the day they would hatch, wishing live still remains in those little pearls.

After no prior signs of life, one egg finally move. The provost panicked took it in his hand and witness a miracle.

After all this time, they finally encounter a phantasm. An augur was born.

I know in lore it probably didn’t got that way. It seems to be the Healing Church who found them while looking for Isz 🤔 but well i had this idea in my head since a while and i’m happy to have finally done it!

I've started this WIP back in summer 2021, but I've abandoned it since then, and only this summer decided to actually finish it.. Some errors since that time carried on as a result, and arguably I draw a bit better humans now... But the only true way to learn to draw large 'crowd' pieces like this is to simply draw more of them, hahah; Sizing of characters within perspective is yet to be improved, of course, not to mention that some characters are not drawn quite accurately to my heights headcanons for them but I will be real, it was fun to draw! And I just... really wanted to draw something happy and colorful for a long while, since BB's grim atmosphere striped me out of this fix. At least now there is ER for my bright colors needs lol

(Important: there are no OCs on this piece! The girl under Willem's chair is Rom, guy chased by the seaqulls is Bloody Crow, there is Byrgenwerth gatekeeper being buried in sand by Dores the Byrgenwerth graveguard (canon characters only mentiond in the item most of the players never found), Choirling is Yurie, girl next to Maria is of course Adeline, and the guy with the kite is Caryll!)

After thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that Bloodborne’s cannibal_woman_with_big_blade™ should be DORES.

Dores is a female name (backed by the Japanese text) and she was a weird woodland/swampland dweller that wears rags and a scary mask. I can definetly see her going insane and cannibalistic but still remaining loyal to Willem and co. God that’s such a cool idea.

We freaking saved Bloodborne, now it also got a feral maneater! ... I mean, one more at least.

Bloodborne starter pack (in case if I’ll need one)

Canon:

+ - Rom is a she/her, as confirmed by Miyazaki in interview!

+ Doctor Iosefka is replaced with Impostor Iosefka after you *enter the Cathedral Ward, so there are two characters in her clinic. Impostor’s name is not revealed. According to data and art book portraits they look identical, however! (upd: in first post version I made a mistake, saying Impostor replaces after Amelia dies)

+ Gascoigne has TWO daughters, not one! His older daughter is only met if you follow questline with little girl accurately, though.

+ Besides Gascoigne's older daughter, characters more or less easy to miss by players are Old Hunter Henryk, Crow of Cainhurst, Afflicted Beggar, Djura's Apprentice, Queen of Vilebloods and Martyr Logarius. Also never getting to see Lonely Old Dear, Suspicious Man and Arianna in person might happen. Basically the cast is wider than it appears!

+ Very obscure characters you might never learn about unless you get a specific item include: Graveguard Dores, Irreverent Izzy, King of Cainhurst, older Madaras Twin, Archibald the eccentric of the Healing Church, Caryll, Gratia... They are not just "popular OCs", nope!

+ According to the figma creators, Lady Maria is 6′7 (204 cm) and the Hunter is 5′11 (180 cm) ( x ) - they explain it from 6:40 to 7:05! Very useful information, especially considering Gascoigne’s model is taller than Maria’s, and Gehrman’s is EVEN taller than Gascoigne’s.

+ The cute girl wearing the same outfit as Micolash you see in fanarts is in 95% of the cases an interpretation of Rom before she became a spider, since Micolash saying 'as you did for the vacuous Rom, grant us eyes' implies right away she is ascended Great One, not born.

+ THE most popular ships are Mariadeline (Lady Maria x Saint Adeline), Valtmura (Valtr Master of the League x Yamamura the Wanderer), Holyvicar (Laurence the first Vicar x Ludwig the Holy Blade) and Alfhunter (Alfred x the hunter)

+ Micolash might be drawn with brown or blue eyes, Yurie might be drawn as blonde or brunette, Edgar might be drawn as blonde or redhead... The reason for Micolash is difference between his cutscene model and hunter one; meanwhile Edgar and Yurie are redhead and blonde according to face data but do not have obvious colors from found screenshots, that's why variety of colors in fanart!

+ Annalise is depicted as a redhead in concept art and on one of the Cainhurst portraits, however, hence why she might be not ‘blonde’ in fanart.

+ Stuff like 'Church spread Ashen Blood to motivate citizens to use blood ministration', 'Ludwig merged with his horse', 'Mergo is son of Oedon and Queen Yharnam is his wife' and 'Edgar infiltrated Yahar'gul and got stuck' are just the most accepted theories - they work, but canon also provides enough base for alternative takes.

+ Many people dunking on Gehrman snowballed from localisation errors such as 'Even the Doll should it please you' and 'his curious mania' + the fact he made a Victorian grieving doll of his dead student.

as an aside from all the drama, I’ve been watching Brooklyn Nine Nine lately and Holt in the “Monty Hall” skit is how I imagine Dores to be (and Santiago is Gehrman — “Those are our /DADS/!”)

Character meme: Gherman, secret

When he was a child he used to hide his favorite toys, a few wooden dolls in lace dresses that his uncle gave him, in a box under the floorboards and only take them out after dark to swap and tidy the dresses and play pretend, because he was afraid of what his dad would say if he found out he was wasting time playing make believe like a girl. When he grew up and left home to work for Willem, he started doing the same with the romantic novels he took a liking to while learning how to read, as Dores considered them “frivolous nonsense” and would much rather have him read history books. Only Edmund knew of these little passions of his and sometimes sneakily passed him some small change to go buy a new book or pretty fabric for his projects.

First I tried to draw this morning but failed so thanks for the ask i got inspired to draw a lil something!

(And then they got lost. They do have weird shenanigans with eldritch stuff. So they will be fine. Actually their friendship is quite funny i love it)

3. What first drew you to this character?

Hm well for Caryll they seems like quite a very important character we know nothing about! In lore I mean. Runes are so op I'm glad they exist 🙏 everyone used them and it seems quite important! Caryll didn't make/translate all the runes but the first one to do so while a students at Byrgenwerth! It's so impressive so it made me wonder who they were... and we don't know what happened to them too ;-;

As for Dores I guess I got interest thanks to the fans actually giving a damn and drawing Dores ! Also ""her"" link with Willem, gatekeeper and probably Gehrman by extension made me think and wonder about their missions in the pthumerians labyrinth. Plus idk Dores seems to have quite a wild personality! that's very cool. And the set descriptions and the 2 hunters is very interesting

13. If you could draw effortlessly and as much as you wanted, what scene (s) would you draw for this character?

Caryll : Hm... lots go things lol. Caryll do have a huge role in my Bloodborne stories and is very present so I have lots of ideas XD but would be difficult to draw... hm maybe caryll with tons of hunters around them and explaining smt. Or Caryll staring at water (sea/lake), or caryll fate... or idk smt with lot of runes to draw something esoteric when they ear great ones! Caryll & friends too. But I would also like to illustrated Caryll getting very scared and encountering a sick man who's at the early stage of beasthood. At Byrgenwerth. During prom night. Yeah can't wait to write that XD

Dores : hmm either Dores' childhood (with almost everyone treating her as a weirdo creepy kid 💀 and featuring Gehrman) or well badass fighting against pthumerians. That also make me think I need to draw Dores being task to watch the kids (Rom & Laurence when they were younger) by Willem while he's out and she panicked and ask if they wanna see organs in jars or smt. Or maybe draw her withe the twins. Yeah I haven't decided yet if the Madaras twins are her kids or long lost brothers I am hesitating because there's the 2 guys with the graveguard set too. OR ALSO (sorry last one) Dores doing artisanal liquor and almost accidentally killing people. (I mean Laurence is the only one who almost died but he was fine after few days. Her other attempts where better)

20. Do you feel affectionate towards this character?

Caryll is my lil guy (gender neutral) 🥺 I love them so so much they remind me of one of my friend too. I really like Caryll I am so mean for all the tragic scenarios I imagined toward the end of their life 😔 but I swear the 3 decades before that are very wholesome if we forgot some lil details. But yeah must protect and deserve the world. So yeah.

Hm idk if it's "affection" but yeah I do like my versions of Dores yeah! I really like to develop her backstory and personality and I can empathise with lot of things she went through that weren't easy.

49. What’s your favorite personality trait in this character?

Well it's purely headcanons but I like their soft sides? I think.

So Caryll kindness and everything would be ok attitude.

As for Dores her more harsh and scary traits are very cool but with her very close friends she can show a way more carrying side <3 she still a bit of a brute XD but I like this too. Everyone is always surprised of it at first.

it's finally here ! The 3rd Chapter of the Bloodborne fic !

Long ago, a group of scholars from Byrgenwerth made an extraordinary discovery in the depths of the city of Yharnam. In the tombs of the ancient gods, they assimilated the eldritch truth of the ancient Pthumerian civilisation and brought back a sacred medium with exceptional properties. It is said to be the blood of the gods. With the goal of ascending humanity and reconnecting with the great ones, their thirst for knowledge leads them to go further and further. However, this wild curiosity led them to repeat the same mistakes as their predecessors. This is how their dreams turned into a nightmare.

I got inspired so here’s some really fast lil sketches (so the quality is meh) (hope you’re not afraid of cute & small snake & spider)

There’s a huge spider in the bathroom. Damian & Micolash asked Patches for help (because the other are not here) but they ended asking Rom to help them. She was in the middle of a class and they lied so she could help them.

Hey, you need to remember that many ships that Exist have not been hinted at in canon - someone one day just "invented" them and other people joined! x) You do not really need community for the ship or pre-existing works, it just feels way more nice and validating if other people are into it too. Like... I for one do not get the attitude that shipping something no one else shipped yet is somehow 'awkward' if not 'cringe'. Questions like 'omg this ship is REAL?' don't make sense either... like, every ship exists as a possible scenario, for example Valtr x Eileen is as 'real' as Valtr x Yamamura, whether someone created stuff for it or not yet is not relevant. Be a trend starter! You might stay alone in this boat, yeah, but you ALSO might get other people into shipping it too, when they see how much fun YOU have talking about this ship or drawing/writing for it. Because they'll wanna have fun too! Be the change you want to see!

You're right and I 100% agree with what you just say!

It's just it's kinda the first time that this happened to me ? or at least the first time I fully realize it. That I was probably the first one who thought about this particular ship? ... but who knows. (I was tired too XD)

To talk a bit about my life, I don't really have that much ships. (even across all the fandoms I have and all, but it's something I really like as well). Of course there's plenty I found cool but only a handful of ships I like really hard/i'm really invested in (not sure if that's an aro/ace thing too lol) (half of the time it's really popular and the other half it's quite rare and except the weird stuff you can find at time I like this particulars ship so much I'm taking almost every content I can found!)

So for all the others I generally have a scale that goes from :

(my eyes!) ew not my thing ->...-> I don't really care/neutral->...-> oh that's valid/ cool-> oh that's cute (-> ship them so hard I'm taking almost ANYTHING XD)

So for Bloodborne now... that's subject is not really the focus of the game too (an I really like that aspect) but yes there's quite a few I "like" or found cool but only like 1 I'm super invest in ?

(Some people here might know who I might reference XD One day I need to actually seriously talk about it... I guess when I will just not care anymore or if someone nicely push me... I know the mutuals I got here are super encouraging about it too x) The problem, it's that I have so much different interpretations of this relationship at the same time I'm afraid it's weird (that create more than 2 AU and one character became like 2 different idk ...)

And recently I thought about another one... so hm on my last post I was basically thinking about Dores x Gate Keeper...

So who wanna join my lil boat ? XD I'm gonna develop a bit here too :

I know we don't know much about them but for me it just makes a lot of sense I guess? I don't know I just think they would be cute. (And it's funny and drama... and really sad at some point too...) Not too serious into it but cool background/minor ship

In the grave guard set description they don't just talk about Dores but about mr Gate keeper as well (and we know other people become mad because in the dungeons but it's only referencing this 2!)

They became mad like... Together ?! They might have done the most of their expedition together as well. Perhaps they help each other with their issues...they probably got the same problems at the same time and the only who could fully understand what one feel was the other... And they both stick with Willem in the end.

I begin to imagined quite a few headcanons about them too. Because well I needed that to prepare my big bb story x) especially the first part at Byrgenwerth.

I do believe in badass young middle aged (+older) woman Dores supremacy. Who is really feral, can kick& punch Pthumerians with only her bare fist. (Willem know he was right to got her by their side, Gehrman is impressed, Liam (the name I choose for mr password gate keeper) is so in love and encouraging and Laurence is just really concerned XD).

If she likes you that's great she gonna scared whoever is mean to you in the best case. If she don't... well hope you don't see her often... For Gate keeper he's usually you know, the "calm and collected one", the guy who was raised in Yharnam and didn't spend all his childhood in like... the forest... But if he needs he's not afraid to shoot people with a shotgun (especially mad pthumerians). And this 2, after Willem, act like the parents of the Byrgenwerth squad/gang at times ? (yes even Gehrman who is just a bit younger than them XD but this trio guys I swear... so much potential)

If I remember correctly there's indeed a moment where I begin to consider them as a ship...it begins when I decided to re take a look how/where you found the graveguard set.

The set is divided between the corpse of two hunters? (who appeared in the game with the yharnam's hunter set, but like the member of the church got the default black church attire in the overworld so...).

One have the mask and the other the rest of the set (I took the first pic I could find on YouTube too). They're really close, but you can't access to the mask directly after you got the rest of the set.

And well obliviously you can wonder why this two have it? They're not Dores right? They might have take her(/their/his) role after she passed away I guess? but who are they really ? (it's highly possible it's just some hunter from Ludwig era or after, who stick with Byrgenwerth or in the lost wood/villagers for some reason or that Dores took in to help and taught them stuff ^^ it's a cute idea but I got another...)

I begin to wonder, what if... what if... this 2 are like her children/grandchildren ?? (depending on their age and this dumb timeline... also if they're the grand kids who could be the kid(s)? Well the Madras twins need to come from somewhere right? hm forget it...I'm not even settle on this they could just be friends) So um... I figure it could be cool if the other parent was like... gate keeper... 😵‍💫
