Has anyone seen that episode from Modern Family where Phil, Gloria, and Cam have their "Orange Juice Operation" going on every time one of them screw something up and need to fix it before their judgmental Pritchett finds out? (S08E08)
Now, imagine the siblings-in-laws having their own group behind their spouse's back to breathe away from their shenanigans and competitiveness, helping each other out to fix whatever mess they committed before any of their soulmate finds out. Kate&Sophie&Penelope&Simon&Philip&Michael&Lucy&Gareth, having each other's back without question against the stubborn nature of their Bridgerton spouse.
Can someone write me a fic about it, please? Or tell me if it already exists?

Okay so I'm just wondering, how the children of Edmund and Violet, the most romantic people who had a very easy courtship, all ended up making a scandal with their relationships. I'm just picturing Edmund watching all of this from heaven and just going "don't you dare propose to the sister Anthony don't you- SHOOT HE PROPOSED! I'm so sorry Mile's I swear I raised him better." "Colin you saw how this worked out for your sister Daphne. Just kiss the girl alreadY- NOT IN THE CARRIAGE!"
Maybe that's why. The whole Edmund dying messed them up so bad they thought proposing with a scandal was just the normal way of doing things.
I mean look at Anthony. Anthony!! who is supposed to be setting an example for his siblings. Especially his brothers. And he goes and proposes marriage by sucking on Kate's tits (because you know that's the only part that Colin and Benedict heard clearly when Anthony explained why he was getting married) Then there's Daphne, the definition of 'went and compromised the guy so it was a choice between me or my brother's pistol'
after that, the rest of the siblings were literally cero Fs given. Violet couldn't stop them.
This is all Anthony's fault somehow and he knows it. The guy tried to marry Edwina to show his family how a proper courtship happened, no thanks to Daphne. And absolutely ruined it. Turns out he, like Daphne, gives cero Fs too and he just likes Kate's tits a lot so he's marrying the person he really wants to marry.
Francesca, bless her soul, actually tried her best. And we don't give Fran enough props for how smoothly her first proposal went. John was a count, he met her, courted her properly, they got married. But then he died and by then the rest of Francesca's siblings had already screwed up their own courtships so badly that for her second marriage, she just had to try out the scandalous route. Her book is literally called 'when he was wicked' homegirl tried! she couldn't escape the family tendency towards horny bad decisions
then you have Benedict. Mr danced with a girl once and automatically had a horny homing beacon for all things Sophie Beckett installed in his hard drive (you call it love at first sight, but I know what it really was). be my mistress this, be my mistress that, This guy, seriously, who proposes in jail and gets his mother to bully the Archbishop so he can get married before the ton gets wind of it. Nobody, that's who.
Colin, do we even need to talk about Colin? talk about jumping the gun. this guy gave his girlfriend a couple of mind blowing orgasms in the back of a carriage after a huge fight and considered that a proper proposal. I mean why Colin! Why!! not to mention the fact that he shamelessly lied about Penelope being pregnant so he could get the wedding moved up.
Eloise, well, I mean, she's not that bad, all she did was run away from home, the day of her brother and best friend's engagement, to meet a guy she didn't know, who could possibly have been an axe murderer. But she left a note. It's not her fault that there wasn't a chaperone in Phillip's place. Or that her family exaggerated the level of trouble she was in. So what if she demanded to know if he loved her after like 3 days of knowing each other in person. that's perfectly normal right...right?? what do you mean courtship, courtships are for losers and girls who don't have brothers that can buy or bully the clergy of the Church of England
Hyacinth had a proper proposal you know, and an actual courtship, we don't give her enough credit for that either. Probably because she and Gareth were having hanky panky behind the scenes. But Violet did put her foot down on this one you know. No more 8 moth babies for her daughters.
of course, while all that was happening, baby himbo Gregory was taking notes. refuse to get eyesight appraised by a doctor, check, try to court the wrong girl, check, become best friends with the right girl, check, fall inlove with someone unavailable because of circumstances beyond her control, check, dramatic declaration of love knowing fully well why she can't say it back, check, stalk love interest to a public location in order to cause a scandal with proposal Infront of her friends and family, check, get his family involved when first proposal/attempt at scandal fails, check. It's almost like Gregory had a checklist that had his family face palming every five minutes and they can't say anything about it to his face. But at least the tying up his love interest for her own good move was something new. he gets props for trying to beat Benedict's record of crazy.
This is why Violet puts twice as many flowers in Edmund's grave, she knows if he were here things wouldn't be like this.
And that's the tea

@aspoonfuloffiction gave me some inspiration for our besties Greg and Lucy
Tumblr media
The first thing that clued Gregory in to the fact he'd made a catastrophic arse of himself when he woke up, was the thousands of notifications lighting up his phone.
75k likes on your video
Text message after text message
From Hyacinth
From Kate
From Anthony
And his brow furrowed, because he hadn't posted a TikTok in weeks. He was sure he hadn't since he'd posted that one of him and Newton Dancing together on Anthony's desk.
Anxiety was swirling in his stomach as he tapped the notification, his heart pounding while the app loaded and-
"Oh Fuck!"
He was staring at the video he'd meant to send to his family. Well, Hyacinth and Francesca and Kate.
Lucy Abernathy was staring back at him from the video, laughing at something someone had said, the wire frame of her glasses shining in the light of the lecture theatre, and just like it had yesterday, his heart thundered in his chest when her eyes caught with his, sending him a tiny wink that she'd caught him staring. The caption brutally obvious.
How do I tell the TA I think she's the love of my life?
The minute he'd met Lucy Abernathy he'd fallen head over heels in love with her, right outside his comparative feminist literature class at the beginning of the semester. He'd sighed, drumming his fingers on the shoulders of his backpack, turning to the woman beside him.
"I'm excited! This is- this is my english credit, I'm an art history kid but um It's my last semester and I needed an english elective. Apparently the TA for this is a real hardarse though. That's what everyone said. I'm Gregory by the way."
He'd been a little startled when he'd realised how beautiful she was, something tugging in his stomach. She had lifted her eyebrow, adjusting her glasses before she cleared her throat. "I'm Lucy Abernathy, Gregory. I'm doing a master's in this and I'm the hardarse TA."
She'd turned the door of the lecture theatre, letting them all inside, and Gregory's stomach had dropped. And slowly, this semester, with every joke she'd told, every smile, every time she'd handed his essay back with a I really enjoyed this Gregory, Thank you. He'd fallen in love with her.
It had been the final day of teh semester yesterday, and normally he wouldn't have... videoed a woman without her permission but he'd never meant to- but now more than three hundred thousand people had seen it sice he'd posted it before bed.
Comment after comment pulling his anxiety higher
KatehatesAnthony: Ohhhh buddy
HyacinthBeeee: Holy SHIT! This is my favourite Day!
Colin'stravels: Greggy Holy Fuck buddy!
SophieBeck: Oh no, oh Greggy. She's so pretty though
FrankieBridge: Greg, Was this supposed to be for our group?
Arty Ben: What group?!
And Finally, The comment that stopped his heart
HyacinthBeeee: Let me help you out here Buddy. @ Lucy'sfeministLit
Lucy'sfeministLit: You could have just asked me for a drink, promise I wold have said yes. This was... something though
And he never would have believed it but a month later he posted a follow up with Lucy on his shoulders as she leaned down to kiss him with the caption
Would not advise the means, but my girlfriend's really prettyyyyyyy

Bridgerton Rebirth Idea
This prompt was inspired after reading the fabulous works of @thekatebridgerton and @daughter-of-sea-and-wisdom . You guys are amazing and thank you for inspiring me!
Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth grew up together in modern times in the same orphanage. None of them were ever adopted and so they remained close even after they got their own places. Although their personalities are different, one thing they share in common is their love for a book series called: Bridgerton. While this did attract them all to the series there was a bigger element that kept them all entranced: the second love interest. While they all know from the summary of each book who the main love interests are, they find themselves more attracted to the secondary love interests. The chemistry between them and their respective Bridgerton were so good that it made them heartbroken when they didn’t wind up together. Even worse is how the love rivals aren’t even evil, they just stand by and smile sadly as their loved one marries another and lives happily ever after.
Daphne adored the slightly flirtatious conversation between Simon and her character, going so far as to skip the scenes with the main couple to get to his parts. She was honestly sobbing when her character married Prince Friedrich, not because the two lovers had come together after so many obstacles, she could care less about that. What got her was how the Duke of Hastings gave her a bracelet to wear for her wedding day, not telling her that was an item always worn by the Duchess of Hastings for generations. “For though Daphne Bridgerton might be becoming a princess that day, she would always be the Duchess of Simon’s heart.” That line made Daphne ball her eyes out.
Anthony on the other hand nearly threw his book out the window. While he understood his character’s attachment to Siena Rosso, with Kate he was able to let his walls down and the banter between the two was spectacular. She understood his commitment to his family and the trauma from his fathers death. Siena being the runaway daughter of a Baron felt like a weak plot point put in so the two characters could get married. He actually did throw his book when his character didn’t even bother to chase after Kate on the day she was to go back to India, instead focusing on a minor argument he had with his new wife Siena. “As Anthony Bridgerton kissed his wife amid the thunderous applause of the theater, Kate Sharma looked towards the rising sun on the horizon and felt her heart lighten as well. She may never love another as she loved Anthony Bridgerton but she would cherish the memories he gave her as she looked towards the future.” When Benedict came to borrow the book from him, Anthony threw it at his face.
Benedict didn’t understand why Anthony was so upset until he got through his own book and considered burning it afterwards. Sophie, in his humble and unbiased opinion, was an angel that his character did not deserve. After saving her years before from a bad situation, Sophie has been a constant in his life. She always tells him what she thinks, takes care of him when he’s sick and encourages him in his art. When he thinks he’s found his lady in silver, a mysterious painter who turns out to be a shy wallflower, she goes undercover as a ladies maid to help bring the two lovers together. Modern Benedict wants to scream when his character declares his love for his fellow artist even after he knows she’s not his lady in silver. “Sophie Beckett never revealed the truth behind the lady in silver or the mystery model to the Bridgertons. Instead she was content to act as governess to the family's children, knowing that she helped make two wonderful people wonderfully happy.” He stopped reading after that book, muttering how the author is blind to romance.
Colin had been the most optimistic out of everyone, thinking his character would surely end up with their sweet childhood friend Penelope. I mean the two have been friends since they were young and Penelope helped him escape his mothers nagging each season and would write to him constantly throughout his travels. His character even has a line in Benedict’s book about how Penelope is the one of the few things in his life that he can not lose. He really should have read the back cover summary. Perhaps then he would have been prepared for the return of Marina Crane nee Thompson, his character's first love who broke their engagement due to pressure from her family and married another man, even giving birth to his two children. His heart sank as Penelope helped the two wayward lovers come together once more even as her own heart was breaking. “Penelope smiled sadly amid the crowd of well wishers as Colin and Marina headed towards their honeymoon. While Colin Bridgerton would never be hers, he had taught her that she was someone worthy of love and perhaps one day she might come to love another as much as she loved him.” He donated the book to a library the next day, and then spent the rest of it watching the Great British Bake Off while eating a tub of ice cream.
Eloise was never one for romance novels but something about Sir Philip Crane stood out to her. He was nerdy and awkward but a wonderful uncle to his brother's children and a fabulous correspondent. When her character had decided to enter into a marriage with him and the two even seemed like they would be the endgame, she felt a bit smug that she could hold this book over the other’s heads. Afterall, Philip is mentioned on the back cover and has a blurb so she really doesn’t see how Theo Sharpe’s return is going to change anything. Oh how wrong she was. Eloise had to check to make sure there wasn’t a sequel to her book, one that continued with the current story, after her character leaves Sir Philip the day before their wedding to head off to Gretna Green with her first love. “He stood there in the doorway, long after Eloise’s carriage had disappeared from sight. For so long his father made him believe that no one would ever love him and yet Eloise Bridgerton had managed to prove his father wrong. Perhaps his father would think him a fool for letting her go so easily but Philip knew that to truly love someone meant putting their happiness above your own. And he may never love again as he loved Eloise but he would never regret even a second spent in her company.” Eloise offered to hold a book destroying event at her and Fran’s apartment.
It's a well known fact that Francesca loves a good love triangle and her book delivers. She’s kept reading each book in the series for glimpses of her character with her childhood friends John Sterling and his cousin Michael. Though her character’s crush on John is obvious, Francesca kept her fingers crossed that Michael would be the one she picked. I mean think about it! After years of pining after sweet oblivious John Sterling, she enlists the help of his cousin Michael to help get him to see her as a woman. Their lessons turned very heated at times and she was confident in who her character would choose. Only for John and Francesca to declare their undying love for each other and fall into bed together within three chapters. It honestly blindsided her. The author kept pointing out how Michael loved Francesca and hinted at it in every other book but mentioned very little of John's feelings till halfway through! The worst scene though was when Michael walks into the stables only to find Francesca locked in a heated embrace with John! “Michael thought of the story of King Solomon and the baby, could recall the vicar dramatically telling the story now. He knew he could still declare his feelings for Francesca, reveal what had been in his heart since they were young. But he would not force her to choose and would not destroy his relationship with the two most important in his life. Rather than confront the couple, he slowly backed away and headed back towards the lake.” Francesca was practically in tears, whimpering and begging the character to go after Michael. Unfortunately, the book ends with the main couple married as Michael goes off to fight in the oncoming wars, his future uncertain.
Hyacinth and was more confused when reading her book. What was the point in her character spending so much time helping Gareth St. Clair just so she can marry her brother Gregory’s friend, Richard Abernathy? It literally makes no sense! Okay so she understands that the character had a crush on Richard after Gregory introduced to him the family but kept messing up around him making her worried that he’ll think she’s too wild. With Gareth she was able to be herself and he appreciated her brilliant mind. Even when he’s helping her impress Richard, he tells her that a real man will love her for who she is. Oh sure Richard tells her he loves her just the way she is but it still felt like her namesake was holding herself even at the end. “As the happy couple launched into their first dance as husband and wife, Gareth watched them feeling a bit detached. All this time he’d been searching for answers, for the possible hidden treasure when he’d had a diamond in front of him all along. And just like his family's treasure, Hyacinth was now lost to him forever.” You can bet that the moment she finished that book, Hyacinth started writing fanfiction on Tumblr to fix the ending.
Gregory was the last of them to start reading the series and his friends did not prepare him! All they said was not to read the summaries but he decided to just skip to his book. The set up at the start seemed obvious. Lucy Abernathy, in love with her brother's best friend Gregory and the two are in laws now after Richard marries Hyacinth. She’s sarcastic and funny but sweet at the same time. But no, instead Gregory falls in love at first sight with Hermione Watson as they work together to save Lucy from her uncle's schemes. “ Lucy Abernathy had entered the season expecting to marry one man while being in love with another. And though the man she loved was now heading on his honeymoon with her best friend, she was glad that something good had come out of this mess. ‘Be happy you two,’ she whispered into the wind, knowing that her friends could not hear but hoping her prayer would still be heard.” Gregory may have sent Hyacinth a request on tumblr to fix the ending.
At one of their weekly gatherings, the friends are sitting in a bar ranting about the series when a woman interrupts them.
“Are you by chance talking about the Bridgerton series? I’ve heard it’s quite the hit,” she asks as Eloise snorts.
“Oh, parts of it are. Fair warning though the main love interests suck,” she snipes as the older woman raises an eyebrow.
“Is that so? How disappointing, I do love a good love story,” she sighs as Francesca smiles sympathetically.
“Believe me, it would be a far better love story if they ended up with the other love interest. The main ones are more bland than anything else,” Francesca replies as Hyacinth hums in agreement.
“I could write a much more exciting love story than what was given,” she sighs and the woman smiles oddly at them.
“Perhaps you could, my dear, perhaps you all could. Thank you for humoring me but I must be off,” she says before walking out. That night the friends all retire to their homes early.
However when they wake up the next morning, they discover themselves in an old fashioned home wearing old fashioned clothes. Even more curious is they have memories of living in this house and of the lovely brunette woman who is apparently their mother Lady Violet Bridgerton. The moment they hear that name it clicks. They’ve somehow been reborn into the world of Bridgerton and are remembering their memories from their past lives in modern London.
Later that night they meet in the library and figure out that they have a few months before the start of the first book. Without saying anything, everyone comes to a similar conclusion: this time they’ll make sure their characters end up with the right person.
I’ll probably write more of this if there is interest and feel free to send me any questions or requests. Even if it’s not about this AU. I may also post what the original books summaries were for the series so people have a better idea of what the original plots were.

Gregory Bridgerton x Lucy Abernathy
“He loved her. It was the strangest, most wonderful sensation. It was exhilarating. It was as if the world had suddenly become open to him. Clear. He understood. He understood everything he needed to know, and it was all right there in her eyes.” -On the Way to the Wedding

Daphne Lousie Bridgerton
Nicknames: Daffy Duck, daph, duck
Profession: Interior Designer
Hobbies: cooking, organising things, singing, piano playing.
Daphne is very much the sensible child. After Hermione Greg and Lucy were thrilled to have a child with her head screwed on.
She’s a bit OCD like her mum and likes to have things a certain way and if it’s not then she gets very stressed about it. She doesn’t talk about the time little Ant got into her dolls house. It took her two weeks to re-organise it all.
She loves singing and playing the piano and she loved playing for her younger siblings as it kept them calm. She found order and precision in playing and learning and even as an adult she still loves to play.
She was at a loss as to what to do with her life and it was textiles she loved in school. Needle work but seeing her cousins working in fashion made her feel uneasy but it was Belle who suggested she looked into interior design.
She did a taster session and Belle set her up with someone she knew in that world and she fell in love with it.
Creating the perfect space for people, making working environments better was very much something she enjoyed and excelled at.
Cooking is another love of hers as she finds order in the way it works and loves following a recipe but never ask her to just wing it because that will stress her out.

So I read a post of your takes on Yandere Bridgertons and I’m like YAS! They all have blood in their hands, Daphne is definitely acts elegantly sophisticated when she murders all those who hurt her Simon and emotionally manipulative him and he apologizes to her. Francesca, seems normal until she lost John and when she falls for Michael, she lost her marbles and has outbursts when she thinks se is going to lose him. Gregory and Hyacinth definitely lean towards manipulation but also deadly.
Okay so, secret kink here. I love my Yandere heroes. Call them toxic and unhealthy all you want but I don't care, I’ve got my guilty pleasures you’ve got yours and there’s no shame.
Dear readers who like your fictional relationships healthy, hear this trigger warning. This post is not for you. I repeat this post is not for you:
Yandere is a portmanteau of two Japanese words. The first is yanderu, which means “to be sick,” and the second is deredere, used here for “lovestruck.” A yandere is often sweet, caring, and innocent before switching into someone who displays an extreme, often violent or psychotic, level of devotion to a love interest.
You know I loved writing this take, because I don’t generally get to write about characters with no moral fiber getting a romatic storyline and there’s just something so wicked about cruel romance. so for those of you who don’t mind toxic in your romantic storylines. hit the keep reading button.
Daphne actually, I think out of all her sisters, she'd never bother to hide that she's unhinged. Like, she knows what she's doing when she's smiling and opening her fan and putting the fear of God into people's hearts one ball at a time. Simon went into his marriage with eyes wide open to how she was willing to hurt everyone but him but probably the moment that broke him psychologically was the dubious consent scene where she didn’t care that he didn’t want to have a child, because she loved him and how could he not want to have a baby with her? that’s terrible. That's when he learned that even he wasn't exempt form her tendency to trample on people to get her way. Especially him.
Usually when people start dropping like flies around him, Simon just nervously looks into his teacup and moves away from the dead bodies. His attractive to Daphne is that Simon isn't afraid of gore but has the self preservation to not start fights he can't finish. That's why she loves him so much. Her husband the Duke. And he loves her too, his sweet dear psycho diamond. Even if she’s a little odd.
Anthony: to give him some credit he did try to marry a woman he wouldn't love so his wife and children could at least have a different upbringing than he did. Since Violet and Edmund were two very intense yanderes, both with each other and their kids. He tried to fight his attraction to Kate, he knew he would ruin her life. He was being as selfless as he could by courting Edwina.
Aaaaand then Kate had to bite him. She was hiding under his desk while he tried to woo his ex mistress to forget about Kate and she bit him. Ever since then he decided that this was enough justification to do what he wanted and tame her into submission. If she were his Viscountess she wouldn't go around biting people, he'd make sure of it. So he seduced her and made her his, and now her life is ruined because she keeps fighting back at Anthony's attempts to make her behave, she doesn't understand it's because because he loves her, the blackmail, corporal punishment, extortion and holding Mary hostage in an unknown location 'for Mary's safety' are also because he loves her too.
Kate has tried running away multiple times. Anthony thinks getting him to chase her turns her on. So he always finds her and brings her back (I'm not sure Kate remained all that sane after the day Anthony cried with fake sadness the first time she had a broken leg. Hearing him lament at what kind of monster would sabotage the wheel of a carriage a Viscountess uses? Because only a maniac would do that, made Kate realize that he'd rather kill her than let her go). One of these days, Anthony is sure that Kate is going to pick up a gun and aim it to his head. He can hardly wait.
Benedict: obsessive to the bone, he cajoled and manipulated Sophie into falling inlove with him and not satisfied with that he full on kidnapped Sophie after they got married. He loves her, she's been so hurt by the world, except him, he would never hurt her. So Benedict's solution is to simply deny the world access to Sophie (or Sophie access to the outside world).
She lives isolated from anyone but him in My Cottage. Sophie has a seemingly happy life in the countryside where all her whims are provided for exept going outside and having friends. Their servants are all perfectly trained highly recommended mute maids and footmen (see how good he is Sophie, hiring and training servants who haven't found employment elsewhere just because of voice impediments). And she goes everywhere with Benedict, and If she wants to see outside world and he's not with her she's got at least 3 maids and 10 footmen around her trained to both help her and not let her escapade.
On the outside Sophie may act like she thinks her husband is a bit excessive due to being raised a noble. But Benedict rarely knows what she's really thinking on the inside. It spurns his obsession into a deeper level, because Sophie stopped telling him her honest thoughts after he kidnapped/confined her 'for her own good'. So he's always unsure if she's staying with him because she loves him or if she's staying because she's smart enough to plan a better escape than Kate.
Colin: he was suave, he even looks like the least unhinged of his brothers. He was cautious in his approach to making Penelope love him, he was patient even. Colin was All smiles and cute jokes, he lowered her guard, seduced her into marrying him willingly, when he discovered her secret he was even more convinced she was his soulmate. Never let Penelope know he had her seduction planned all along. And Penelope fell for it hook line and sinker. Her leaving LW and retiring her column to focus on her novels and being his wife was also his idea. ( Or maybe it's his wife the one who's played him, we don't know, Penelope does love keeping secrets after all, she may be just as obsessed with him as he is with her)
Eloise: Completely set out to break Phillip physiologically, and gaslighted him into relying only on her. She fell inlove with his letters after Marina died and made sure to spread rumors around the countryside that Phillip had actually killed his first wife. slowly making him a pariah in his community, so that when Eloise showed up at his estate as the seemingly answer to all his problems, Phillip didn’t even question why she acted like she owned the place. Poor Phillip, so grateful that Eloise believes in him and loves him, he really couldn’t live without her. Look at his unruly children, tamed by her magic (so easy to win over with a few well placed candy coated bribes and manipulation behind his back).
Eloise made sure to spread rumors about Phillip all the way to London that makes everyone avoid him. But fear not, she’s not scared of him, Eloise knows Phillip would never hurt her, she knows he didn’t kill his wife, Marina was sick obviously. How could anyone think he’d be an abusive husband when he was so kind to Eloise?. Phillip in turn think’s Eloise is an angel from heaven and will hear no word against her, she saved him from despair (that she created) how generous and loving of Eloise, to become his wife when he’s nothing compared to her. He’s completely under her spell. And if Eloise pushes a person or two into the lake, well, that’s just her defending their home.
About Francesca... She may have loved John to death, literally. It's unclear under what circumstances John died, but Anthony suspects Francesca's mischief making took her too far one day and killed her husband. Maybe it was an accident, maybe her sneaky Yandere manipulations killed him, maybe he tried to leave her. Point is Francesca was left with a lot of guilt over it. And kept trying to convince Michael that she was bad news and he shouldn't be inlove with her because she had a tendency to go overboard....
Until Michael kept trying to convince her that he wasn't going to leave and that he was perfectly okay with her wicked behavior. Actually while John wanted to increase Francesca's good impulses, Michael is all about feeding her bad nature and encouraging Francesca to do what she wants and use him like a toy. Then one day, she finally lets lose and he realizes, she's the reason his previous lovers kept dissapearing. And that it's now his job to make sure Francesca's obsession with not being left alone doesn't claim anymore victims. It's either that or throwing away his inhibitions and developing a murder kink. ( She does think he looks handsome covered in blood )
Hyacinth: married a fan of her work. She's the social princess of the ton, fell inlove with Gareth because he seemed to be looking for someone he could share a connection. So she made up an excuse about diamonds and replicated his grandmother handwriting in an old journal to take advantage of his naive soul. Yandere Hyacinth probably went full Hannibal x Will Graham with Gareth, leading him down the path of cruelty and immorality by rationalizing that what she was doing was actually not that bad, until he was morally corrupt enough to kill his adoptive father with no remorse. But on the bright side, they are both very protective of Lady Danbury and pretend to be the perfect couple in her eyes.
Gregory: A special case, he actually thought he was the normal one in his family. grew up incredibly well adjusted. And then he crossed paths with Lucy’s brand of sociopathy. He was out there minding his own business, having a crush on Hermione, and then he realized, it was Lucy who was pulling the strings playing at revenge while everyone remained oblivious.
Not just by repeatedly telling Hermione not to run away with someone unsuitable knowing that’s what she’d do, but also but arranging things so that Richard would fall for Hermione, leading to a scandal that would make her uncle angry at Richard long enough to make a mistake that would lead him to get arrested. All while Lucy was safely married off to Haselby and played innocent victim. Lucy just didn’t factor Gregory recognizing a sociopath when he saw one, at most he was going to be used to make Richard jealous. And that’s it, Gregory was inlove, he had to have her, he wanted in with her game.
So Gregory turned the tables on Lucy’s careful plans, and pretended to help her, by trying to woo Hermione, when he was really just getting close to her. And subtly manipulating her into place, why ruin her revenge plan, when he could simply....Modify it so that she couldn’t get away from him at the last chapter. Her husband didn’t need to be Haselby, it could be anyone else lending her a shield against her uncle. So what if he has to ruin a wedding or two? nobody touches what’s his. And he deserves true love like the rest of his family, why shouldn’t he take it?. Lucy will be furious, but only for a while.  Lol I think the marriage between Lucy and Gregory is the most fun because they live to try to outmaneuver each other, he’s a yandere and she’s a sociopath, and Richard and Hermione are their favorite torture subjects. While Lucy and Gregory engineer all sort of disasters for them to suffer from. (Lucy will never get over the fact that her brother left her to rot in the countryside with their evil uncle, nor does she care to be used to make Hermione look better) Gregory naturally feels even more convinced they are soulmates and often ties Lucy to the bed to prove it.
and that’s it that’s the post. What do you think dear readers.

"There is nothing to say."
"What about I love you?"
"Don't say that," she whispered.
He stepped forward. "I love you."
She took a breath. Squared her shoulders. "I am marrying Lord Haselby tomorrow."
"No," he said, "you're not."

From the CM asks
What's a random hot take you have about the show/a character/a plot?
Oh, goodness, just ONE hot take? I have so many! Hmmmm...to cause chaos and burn shit down, or not to cause chaos and burn shit down?
I'm gonna cause chaos and burn shit down.
The way that a large and worrisome number of people in this fandom (lesbians by and large not included) treat Emily is deeply, deeply misogynistic and terrible. Canon Emily is brilliant, refined, charming, highly competent, worldly, multilingual, fiercely independent and self-sufficient, calm under pressure, and self-assured. Fandom has turned her into this bumbling, incompetent chaos gremlin who is only there for comic relief (as much as I love you, Incorrect Criminal Minds Quotes, I am very much looking at you right now). Hotch stans are overwhelmingly the worst culprits of this misogynistic treatment of Emily, both before she takes over for him as unit chief (e.g. bending over backwards to find ways to justify him treating her like shit when she first joins the team) and after (all the "no Hotch no watch" bullshit). Plus, the very existence of Hotchniss as a ship feels like such disrespect for Emily as a character for two big reasons that go way beyond just me not shipping it:
I literally do not think I have ever seen anyone ship Hotchniss out of a deep and abiding love for Emily. That ship is full of Hotch stans who ship them together because they love and want to obsess and fangirl over Hotch. And like, there's nothing wrong with loving Hotch, but when everyone's shipping a ship out of love for him and not her, that creates a legitimate problem, similar to the problem with the specific way that some (although definitely not all!) Reid stans ship Moreid and Ralvez, because they're taking these really wonderful characters of color and making their stories revolve completely around a fan favorite white boy. And when a lot of these Hotch stans ship Hotchniss out of love for Hotch, they're just using Emily to live out their own fantasy and achieve their own sexual gratification. They're stripping her of her agency, her individuality, and everything that makes her who she is in order to make it easier for them to project themselves onto her. They're taking this strong, wonderful, complicated, beautiful female character--A CHARACTER WHO WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN AS A LESBIAN AND IS WIDELY ACCEPTED AS ONE IN FANON AND YES, THAT IS ACTUALLY SUPER IMPORTANT--and making her entire story revolve around a man.
I'm only half-joking when I say that it's lesbophobic to ship Emily with men. Because even though Emily isn't actually, technically a lesbian in canon, in a way, she might as well be. She is so deeply queer coded (and not just queer coded, but specifically lesbian-coded in the way she interacts with women vs. men) and so widely accepted as a lesbian in fanon, and it is so widely known that she was originally written as a lesbian, and Lesbian Emily means so much to so many lesbian fans who are already so starved for any representation at all, that Emily actually does feel close enough to being a canonically lesbian character that it is extremely tempting to say, "fuck ship and let ship, DO NOT ship this character with men, just let the lesbians have something for once in our goddamn lives!" And sure, everyone's allowed to have their own headcanons and their own interpretations of characters, but maybe there are some near-canon characterizations widely accepted in fanon that allow fans from marginalized identities to see themselves represented and better engage with the media they consume (e.g. Autistic Spencer, Lesbian Emily) that deserve a little more respect and deference than, say, headcanons about what kind of music a character likes? So when I say that Emily is a lesbian, I don't just mean that I headcanon her as a lesbian; I mean that she is a lesbian in the same way that Spencer is autistic, even though neither one of those things is actually, technically true in canon. And while nobody's saying that you have to headcanon Emily as a lesbian or Spencer as autistic in order to participate in this fandom, if you consistently create content that deliberately erases Spencer's autism or Emily's lesbianism, autistic Reid stans and lesbian Emily stans may understandably and legitimately take issue with your work for reasons that go much deeper than simply not agreeing with your headcanons.
Anyway, those are the reasons why I actually feel kinda justified in gatekeeping Emily Prentiss from anyone in this fandom who is not either a) a lesbian, or b) a non-lesbian sapphic who headcanons Emily as a lesbian.
Also, I literally do not give a single shit about Hotch beyond just liking him as a character and appreciating what he brings to the show, and I 100% stand by this statement I made in a conversation about Hotch girlies:
Tumblr media
I also believe with every fiber of my being that this is how Emily feels about Hotch, too.

Happy @gregxlucyweek Week!
Day 1 was favorite quote but I have too many favorite quotes from this book so I made a top 10-and even then these aren’t even all of my favorite quotes. I did a lot of cheating to shine a light on as much as I could. Including but not limited to posting some on the bird app and other platforms and stretching the definition of a quote into something that is probably more accurately described as a scene.
Do not blame me—blame JQ she chose to be extra romantically indulgent in this book🫠
Putting this under a cut so you don’t have to annoyingly scroll on your dash or tag searches💋

Gregory being consumed by their first kiss and Lucy (like a liar) telling him “oh it’s no big deal you can forget about it” and the way that makes Gregory a little indignant is hilarious. But also this is the moment Greggy boy realizes he’s been in love with Lucy this whole time🥹
9.
Tumblr media
The book only briefly talks about the choice of marrying a titled Earl vs a fourth son of a Viscount but it never meant anything to Lucy for whom being with Gregory meant life was perfect.

Tumblr media
Did I add this because I get irked when people say Hyacinth hated Lucy? No. Maybe. But normally confrontation averse Lucy, standing up to Hyacinth on behalf of Gregory because she refuses to entertain anyone even his sister saying he’s not a good person?!? Chef’s kiss😭
7.
Tumblr media
Gregory in his “I feel totally normal platonic feelings for my friend Lucy. I just really need her to smile and laugh because sad Lucy is surprisingly debilitating for my continued existence” era
6.
Tumblr media
Gregory’s constant unwavering trust in Lucy is my favorite thing about them. He never questions her love for him even when he has all the reason in the world.

Tumblr media
Listen sometimes I’m just a fiend for dramatic shit like this. “Her life before mine” is gonna get me every time.

Tumblr media
Gregory Bridgerton you annoying romantic you😭 but also Lucy who can’t let herself be loved because it would ruin everything 😭😭
3.
Tumblr media
The nonchalant heartbreaking-ness of “Lady Lucinda Bridgerton laughed” just real devastating stuff. Also yes several children indeed.

I truly believe that this is the most romantic line Julia Quinn has ever written. And it’s not sweeping or urgent or even sexy but the causal intimacy of it is why it’s so effective. The big epic feelings are great but true love exists just as much if not more in the quiet mundane comfort of something like daily breakfast.

Listen I am a simple girl. If there is a “who did this to you” moment-it will be my favorite part of the book. It’s a beloved trope for a reason. Nothing makes me crazier than a hero frantically scared for the heroine.
