#comic #raven beak #samus #samus aran #grey voice #old bird #metroid #metroid dread #she is three years old and just wanted to see Grey Voice #he's cool and tall #but the minute she enters the room BLAM there it is some motherfucker who's even TALLER than he is #it's tough when you're a kid and you're small and your parents died less than 2 months ago one of them right in front of you #she doesn't know if this stranger is nice like Grandpa Bird or of he's mean like the guy who ate her mother #and height is another thing he has in common with the purple pterodactyl! but he's not eating Grey Voice so he must be okay #anyways Samus likes Grey Voice because he smells nice and his robes are soft. he doesn't play with her often like Grandpa Bird does #but she'd like to change that. so she tries by putting in the effort herself. and she drags grandpa bird all over looking for him #she does this at least twice a week #chozo #unfortunately for Old Bird's ailing knees. but he tries his best. #i can only imagine the rest of their conversation #grey voice is gonna have a time explaining how he and old bird adopted this orphan kid off the side of the road like an abandoned puppy #meanwhile raven beak is giving him a hard time like 'ayy i thought you said you were sterile' #he's very interested in seeing how this develops #his gracious hosts aren't exactly getting any younger and they haven't been keeping up with their cardio #but they've got the gumption and he thinks they can pull it off. the kid making it long enough to leave the nest i mean.

Now I'm curious, do you think Chozo have mating dances similar to birds here? Anything like "the male displays an incredible display of his tail feathers as he dances to impress his potential mate"?

On one hand, given it's either implied or explicitly mentioned in the manga that the Chozo are dying out because of a loss of ability to have kids, and most of the Chozo that raised Samus were definitely painted as elders, (on a scale ranging from Grey Voice being the equivalent of late 40s to early 50s in a human, to Old Bird being portrayed as her mischievous but ancient grandpa, probably the equivalent of 95+) that sort of stuff might have similarly become defunct, or at the very least just never come up.

On the other hand, such dances could easily have become a cultural thing for them outside of just mating purposes, so on that front, I think it would be quite plausible for some of that to have been passed on to her as well. We mostly know/saw them training her to be a warrior, but I don't think it's a stretch to say there was likely plenty of other stuff outside of that focus that they did their best to pass on to her.

On the other other hand, now I'm picturing Samus entering her late teens and having hormone mood swings and stuff, and Old Bird noticing what's up. So he stops one of Grey Voice's grueling training sessions, (to the latter's disgruntlement) and pulls her aside, says that sooner or later she'll likely be leaving the nest to be with people more her age again, and possibly meet someone who catches her eye. (Whether they be human or another species of the Federation.)

So for that reason, they'll be adding a new dancing course to her teachings! And it winds up being like, a beautiful disaster mix of traditional Chozo dances and like, old 80's human movies like Dirty Dancing and the like they'd picked up from past encounters, (along with (Human) Childcare For Dummies) and the combination should not by all rights work in the slightest, but somehow it just does.

And then a few years later she and Anthony are hanging out in a club attempting to wingman for each other. (Being real here, it would probably mostly be Anthony helping Samus, because he minmaxed charisma and she put all her points into everything else, plus she's still getting used to being around humans again.) And she's anxious as all hell because this is not what she was built for... but then she just breaks out this deeply weird mix of Patrick Swayze strutting and traditional Chozo birb mating dances, and the girl she's trying to impress is deeply, deeply confused but weirdly turned on, and despite her misgivings the first shot at the nightlife part of human culture goes almost shockingly well.

This is an AU called Achromatic Loop and IT TAKES PLACE AFTER THEY ESCAPED THE PARABLE!!

When they were still in the Parable, one of the games rules was for the protagonist to be silent in order for the Players inhabiting Stanley's body to self-insert themselves into the story.

The game didn't remove Stanley's voice, but it did change something within Stanley so he had more control over his own voice (-so he doesn't accidentally yelp and scream whenever he's surprised. As for why the game didn't remove Stanley's voice completely is still unknown.)

Since Stanley wasn't allowed to talk, it caused his voice to become a bit hoarse and raspy. Talking for a long time hurts his throat so he prefers to whisper. He likes to drink lots of water because it soothes his throat.

I think Skeptic and Smitten are actually true opposites and it’s part of why we never see them in a route together on their own. Skeptic is skepticism and Smitten is blind devotion, and those two concepts cancel each other out.

Think about it: our perspective of the Princess alters what she becomes. Damsel is a harmless and soft Princess Classic with no deeper world because the Smitten views the Princess as a harmless victim that can do no wrong and loves him back. The Prisoner is more complex because Skeptic IMMEDIATELY pegs her as someone more calculating, intelligent, but also capable of reasonable discussion. He’s willing to hear her out or side with her, but not without hearing out all sides.

Smitten and Damsel are star crossed lovers defying an evil Narrator that wants to tear them both apart. Skeptic and Prisoner are two hostages who realize that they need the others assistance to escape someone whose trying to pull the wool over both their eyes (also the Narrator).

And even funnier, BOTH are correct ways to interpret our relationship with the Princess!

But it’s hard to picture any sort of resolution between these two ideas because they are nearly contradictory because of the Pristine Blade; you either side with the Narrator initially or the Princess.

This could also be why Cold and Smitten don’t cancel each other out. Cold doesn’t hate the Princess, he just feels NOTHING towards her. He only shows up organically if we take advantage of her in a vulnerable state to kill her as quickly as possible. That’s why he only appears in states where the Princess is already “dead” in the Player’s view, like the Spectre, the Greys, and the Wraith. Cold’s only opinion of the Princess is “dead”, and that trait doesn’t contradict the opinions the other Voices may have.
