obligatory getou mention for your ask game :333
i love that he’s obligatory LMAO
but yes, yes we MUST discuss him
i think he smells like….
oud and tonka and musk at the very deepest part of his scent. especially around his throat and nape of his neck. guaiacwood and maybe a hint of dark rose. or orange rind. a little bitter, especially when uncomfortably close and intimate with him.
i think there’s a superficial, smokier quality to his scent that is closer to incense like frankincense or myrrh. sandalwood is laced here, too, but not a lot, and perhaps only because of the shampoo he uses. these scents tend to dissipate as the day goes on.
i think he may wear a cologne that heightens the tonka in his scent; touched with fig and walnut, maybe. tobacco on the edges. it’s a hazy, heady scent and a little base. hypnotic.
unforgettable.
send me a character and i’ll tell you what i think they smell like!

In another comparison perfume post l’m testing Smoky Mountain Mallow by Solstice Scents in oil and EDP formats against each other! Solstice Scents is an American indie house that mostly does cheaper oil scents, but also has some alcohol ones. It does suffer from a problem common to cheaper indie houses: too large a catalogue with too many scents that smell similar. There are some really good ones in the lineup though.
Smoky Mountain Mallow is a friendly little smoke, spice and marshmallow thing. I had a sample of the pre-2021 reformulation version and remember it smelling different, but at this point I can’t remember how. Listed notes: amber resin, warm guaiacwood, labdanum, wood smoke, marshmallows, nutmeg. I think both formats smell more or less true to the list, but they vary slightly.
The oil has surprising throw for the format. It opens with a blast of sweet and realistic woodsmoke, with a little aromatic spice. It’s a little more astringent and ashy compared to the EDP. After about an hour, the nutmeg is apparent. It sweetens into creamy marshmallow as it dries, but it never loses the woodsmoke aspect.
The EDP has a very strong booze note on spray that burns off quickly. After that, it is a smoky vanillic amber that’s smoother and sharper compared to the oil. The amber is similar to Estate Amber, a scent from the same house. The nutmeg comes forward more quickly than the oil and there’s a bit of doughiness. As it dries, a Solstice-characteristic dustiness to the vanilla comes out.
After 8 hours, both are a faint vanilla sweetness. The oil throughout has more of a woodsmoke emphasis. The EDP is sweeter and focused on the vanilla-amber. It’s both more resinous and higher-pitched than the oil. In the end, I like the oil more because it reads deeper and is just the right amount of sweet. Overall, a fun cozy scent I put on to hang around friends because it’s a crowd-pleaser. It really hits the spot on a cold day. I still only have a sample, but may try to acquire a secondhand larger size of the oil, since it’s relatively cheap.

ARB Birthday Special: Reiaki Suzubayashi
Tumblr media
~ June 14th ~
“Rock bottom will teach you lessons that mountain tops never will.”
Login lines
“Happy birthday to the kind soul that’s getting stronger every day. Yup! That’s right, it’s my birthday! Yeah, yeah, it’s technically not my birthday anymore, but oh well! It’s my birthday week! I sure hope I have a good one!”
"I am officially one year older! So Happy Birthday to the great person I am becoming! I’ll do my best to enjoy this next year to the fullest and laugh like never before!”
Voice Lines
“I’ve been traveling overseas to work on an upcoming film— I know, on my birthday, but! The staff and even some of the talents surprised me with cake and presents on set! I had some issues bringing all the presents back to Minato, but I’m here now and I’m ready to just kick back and chill. I already have a video edited and ready to be posted, I have no clients for today… time to take it easy with some of my favorite people on the planet!”
“I even checked my P.O box and I see a flood of presents from fans. It’s so sweet of them! Kinda overwhelming, but I really appreciate the presents! A lot of them are birthday cards, fan art, or really cute plushies! More to add to the collection!”
"Ohhhh? Well if it isn’t the Queen Card! Oh, thanks! Y’know, it’s nice to hear something nice from you once in a blue moon~ Okay, okay, so? Did you need something? Uh… huh? You? Queen Card? Giving me a present? Wait, no, you didn’t have to— Ah… okay… well thank you! What’d you give me?”
“Oh? What’s this? A glass bloody heart necklace? It’s really intricate… really? An anatomical heart? Gruesome… but it’s really pretty! Wha– you made this?! Is that what you’ve been working on this whole time?! Your Majesty! O-okay, you must’ve spent a lot of time on this, thank you!”
"Miku-chan! What’s up? Oh, a present? I didn’t see that coming, thanks! Ah what the hell… do you see me flaunting my money? I’ll let that comment slide, so I wanna see what you made for me.”
"Let’s see~ Hm? There’s skulls, ghosts, there’s faces of… horror movie characters? What even are these? Oh, bath bombs! Geez, you really went all out on these, huh? Thank you! Can’t wait to try ‘em! By the way, the scents that you chose for some of these guys don’t match ‘em at allll~”
Queen Card Lines:
“I hear it is your birthday week. A happiest of birthdays to you, my dear. Oh, come now, that is no way to treat a friend who’s come to pay you a visit. My, I wonder? I had so been looking forward to bestowing a present on this special occasion~ Oh goodness, no, you must take it.”
“A perfect finishing accessory. Do enjoy your new present to the fullest. I crafted it myself, after all. Silence, this is a gift from your Queen. Accept it, that is an order.”
Miku Lines:
"Happy Birthday… Here you go. I didn’t know what kinda gift to give to someone who makes millions… so I made something myself.”
“They’re bath bombs that I made. They’re all labeled, too. This skull one’s scented as achillea— or the yarrow plant, and this ghost one’s thistle-scented, this Freddie Krueger one is vanilla and star anise, the Jason one is pomegranate and guaiacwood, and the Michael Myers one is rose and agarwood. Oh, shut up!”

The Doctors as perfumes
Look. I should be working on a fic I started.
I'm doing this instead.
All of these a perfumes I have and many of them are unisex. If anyone wants a link to these just ask!
Tumblr media
Ninth Doctor: Memoirs of a trespasser - Imaginary Authors
Notes: Madagascar Vanilla
Guaiacwood
Myrrh
Benzoin Resin
Ambrette Seeds
Oak Barrels
This is one of my favorites. It's nice and smokey and reminds me of old books and the smell of woodsmoke. It's also a very comforting smell. If it were a person it would be someone who's very comforting in a protective way.
Tumblr media
Tenth Doctor: Lightning Storm- Nui Cobalt
Notes: An intense blend for calling down the thunder. Petrichor and ozone, electrified metal, cold musk, bergamot, lime zest, cracked pink peppercorn, copal smoke, Indian myrrh, and teakwood. Wear when you're ready to turn your magic all the way up.
This perfume oil smells like spice and something warm. Kind of like drinking a spiced tea and sitting near a warmed wood stove. It's as close as I can get to what I imagine he would wear. Something suitable for The Oncoming Storm.
Tumblr media
Eleventh Doctor: Middle Earth- Hexennaught
Notes: chocolate, amber, nag champa, dark patchouli.
Look. It's the name in a good classic book. That's the reason why I personally bought it. The patchouli in this is not overpowering at all and is a good balance for the chocolate in it. Its not overly sweet but its not dark and bitter. Something I think suits this generations sweet and goofy to dark and serious demeanor.
It also lasts and lingers no matter what you do. It's rememberable in the way that your incapable of letting it go. That being said I wear this one all the time.
Tumblr media
Twelfth Doctor: Telegrama- Imaginary Authors.
Notes:Talc
Lavender Absolute
Black Pepper
Teak
Amyris
Vanilla Powder
Fresh Linens
The moment I thought of this generation it was this perfume that sprung to mind. There's no lavender to my nose but it definitely smells like fresh laundry and a nice spiced cologne.
Tumblr media
Thirteenth Doctor: Sundrunk- Imaginary Authors Elish Eau de Parfum
Notes: Sundrunk -Neroli
Rhubarb
Honeysuckle
Rose Water
Orange Zest
First Kiss
Elish Eau de Parfum- top notes Sugar, Red Berries and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Vanilla, Cacao, Spicy Notes and Rose; base notes are Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk and Woody Notes.
I have yet to fully get to watch thirteen's run but this is what id imagine she wear. Sundrunk is such a beautiful neroli perfume and perfect for summer. It's very fun and outgoing.
Billie Eilish's perfume smells like a warm spiced chai tea. It's warm and comforting and really draws you in.

ok sorry i Keep sending you asks about Rat Scents u dont have to answer this if u dont want but. perfume rec for a hickeycoded hickeygirl /gn with a particular liking for oranges and the sea 👉👈
Oh shit oranges and the sea… depending on your tolerance for more macho age of sail shit Beaufort London has some really unique and dank fragrances but they seem to be very hit-or-miss for people. I've liked Vi & Armis (lapsang souchong, heavily peated whisky, dark tobaccos, spice and opium) and Rake & Ruin has gin notes (botanical ingredients of gin; dark woods, civet, musks and amber) that Francis Crozier would not approve of. I haven't tried Lignum Vitae (black pepper, red berries, madeleine cake accord, marine note, mandarin, lemon, bergamot, juniper, ginger, lime, frankincense, caramel / lignum vitaewood accord, Guaiacwood, vetiver, peppery agarwood/ sand accord, sea salt, amber, frankincense resin, moss, musk, vanilla) but if a perfume could scurvy-proof you that would be it.
For a less dank oceanic scent Jo Malone has Wood Sage & Sea Salt; Heeley has Sel Marin, which smell-unsmelled sounds fantastic to me. Alexandria Fragrances' Citron del Mar might be a little "cocktails on the beach" for Hickeylarping purposes but ngl it also sounds great and I'll be buying a decant of it asap.

Yu Sōn (eau de parfum) Altaia Nose: Daphne Bugey
Citrus
Inspired by an ancient Chinese poem, the celebration of an encounter that leads to love. Morning's first light shimmers over azure waters that reach into fragrant orange groves. A tale that began long ago turns into love, a promise of enchantment is fulfilled.
Marina and Sebastián first met in Southern Italy, where orange groves flourish by the Mediterranean Sea and the air is warm with the promise of summer. Inspired by the name of an ancient Chinese poem, this fragrance is a celebration of their meeting and falling in love 140 years after their families crossed paths in Argentina.
Daphne says: "I was inspired by the Mediterranean summer, choosing the joyful freshness of mandarin, blended with the lively notes of Chinese green tea, in order to undeline the spontaneity of newborn love."
Key notes: Mandarin, Green tea, Orange blossom, Iris, Vegetal amber, Guaiacwood

As always, if you tag me with betweenthetimeandsound, I will find your works and reblog them!
Good luck!
