I'm glad they didn't make Gamora fall in love with Peter and that it was clear she wasn't the Gamora he fell in love with. Although there were subtle hints at some points that she seemed to actually like him (when he tricks the red alien girl to letting him access those weird ass suits, when he activated the ship's self destruction) but it's vague and it feels more like a possibility

and no I don't ship Peter and Nebula though they have a lot of moments together. Let them be FRIENDS let them have a good close platonic relationship, as someone who has an older sister it feels icky to see them heavily hinted at

It's about the imperfections. Someone once told me 'an empire is only as strong as its weakest member', and I think this movie for some reason really showcases that.

The batch 89 were the worst of HE's creations according to him, but they were the only ones with exactly what he sought. Ideas, hope, dreams - and more specifically, imagination. Rocket's brain might be what HE is seeking, but the truth is, he killed all of the results with that capability.

Because none of the creatures the HE created after Rocket and the batch 89 were personal. They were mass produced perfection, copies of copies of copies. Their sentience was carefully constructed by someone else - and so, they don't have what Rocket has. What the Batch 89 had.

Because the Batch 89 was a series of accidental successes. They weren't programmed. Their minds came out of nowhere.

Each of their imperfections molded them into what they were. Molded their personalities and hopes and dreams. Each one so miraculously different from each other. Every single one of them so incredibly flawed, so completely fucked up- and perfect.

Lylla chose her name because it was pretty and she would need one in the new world. Teef thought his teeth were the biggest there was and named himself after it. Floor liked to hop on the floor, so she chose it as her name. Rocket had a dream of taking them to a rocketship and fly towards the sky.

Hope, humour, comfort, dream. The four things one finds in a healthy family, and the four things that keep people from going insane in trying times.

They had nothing but each other- so anything was good enough. They had everything and nothing. They were the weakest members of HE's empire, and that was their strength. And in killing them he destroyed the very thing he sought to create.

rewatching vol. 2 and Rocket literally tases gamora so she wouldn't die with quill on ego's planet and he says this and i'm feeling very very normal about that

he still blames himself for having a meltdown after lylla's murder instead of running. he thinks floor and teefs died because of that time he spent frozen in place in front of her body, only barely processing her death, so his first instinct when he undersands that quill is not going to make it is leave as fast as he can with the others. anyway!!!

I loved the baby raccoon scene because like how cathartic is that? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought “Man if I could go back and save baby me or just like give baby me some words of advice and tell her everything is gonna be okay, I would. That I grow up to be the adult she needed and would be proud of.” And that’s what Rocket got. He got to save baby him, comfort baby him, and get to be the adult that those babies needed. My god I’m gonna cry over Rocket Raccoon again

One of my favorite things about Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was that it let Peter be optimistic and hopeful even when the situation seemed like it may have been easier with violence

The most obvious example was when they were trying to get the data about Rocket and Peter tries to talk his way into getting it from the worker, but 2014!Gamora just puts a gun to her temple and threatens to kill her when they’re trying to make their escape. Peter eventually tells Gamora to stop and then says that if he “talks from his heart” she’ll listen and help them

Gamora rolls her eyes at this, and in ANY other Marvel movie it would’ve been a set up for a punch line. The optimistic guy tries to talk from his heart, it doesn’t work, and he gets laughed at. But not in this movie. This movie says words absolutely work, and they do matter, and people do listen. Peter tells that worker that they’re trying to save their friend, their family, and she listens and helps them escape

This happens a few more times, the other main one is when he’s trying to communicate with the bat family, or how he doesn’t give up on Rocket when his heart stops, and it’s such a nice inclusion. I’m glad Peter gets to be hopeful and optimistic in the beings across the galaxy, but more importantly, I’m glad it works

So I was thinking that since the baby raccoons Rocket rescued thankfully hadn't been experimented on yet, they'll all grow up to be normal raccoons. So I had a funny mental image of Rocket being followed by them when he's on Knowhere (of course they're all left there when Rocket and the Guardians go on missions because they need to stay safe).
