I watched - Shin Godzilla - 2016

"Bringing the full might of bureaucracy to bear on Godzilla."

I think this is what a new Godzilla ought to be. The American are laser focused on trying to just be action movies. It's not bad that the American ones are around. Just nice that both can exist.

I think the way this movie portrays how slowly the government moves to do things, while going at such a fast pace, is great. They're constantly doing nothing, talking about and around the problem. More worried about appearances than fixing the problem. Then the actual solution comes from a joint effort of people from different bureaus just working together without worrying about protocol? Excellent choice.

I thought a lot during the movie about how I view Godzilla. I love him. Especially the design in this movie, which is split between horrifying monstrosity, and funny guy. The googly eyes?!? The enormous wagging tail? The various beams? That mouth that is ornamental only and filled with jagged teeth? I digress, design good. It's funny how iconic Godzilla is for what he started at to what he became. Shin Godzilla really tries to bring that back. It is a creature of wanton destruction borne from the nuclear fruit of man. It is shown constantly how much destruction and horror he has released. Not a hero, barely knows what he is doing. A force of nature. But just different enough to enable people to actually fight back.

Also EM20 rhythm GZM is satisfying to me on a deep deep deep level. The whole soundtrack is great and filled with throwbacks.

Bariss snorted with laughter and to her surprise Ahsoka was doing the same. It was like a glimmer of a better time quickly passing by.

”So now if anyone i wondering we are no longer mossy and do not make unconstitutional amendments.” Rowena summed up.

"Bah, pay them no heed. Chief Engineer Telash, at your service." Telash made another flamboyant bow. "Though 'Master Chief' will do nicely as well if you prefer so. And you simians -" he turned to the unperturbed Mandalorian women "-are free to adress me merely as 'Sir' if you prefer a less...syllable-intensive workout that may threaten to overwhelm your primitive cerebral functions!"

Bariss' logical mind processed and came to conclusions before her person-reading part of her mind had finished computing whether it was such a good idea.

"But, would not a position of Chief Engineer imply that there are more than one engineer in a crew?"
