This is the racist bullshit Elon Musk is tweeting now. He tweeted and deleted. Nah, say that shit with yo chest. You meant it. He really paid $44 billion for Twitter to do this.
Then again, the world's richest man being a racist/white supremacist is no surprise at all. He did grow up in Apartheid era South Africa.

The Wayne doll house
Have some haunted doll au, since it's been bubbling away in my mind.
The bat cave is large and sprawling, many layers and tunnels and hollowed out cracks in the walls. It takes many years to fully reinforce to prevent stray kids from tripping into stagnant waters or fall down crags as he once did. The doll cave, as it becomes known, is in one of the deepest, darkest corners, one where the lights of the furnished caverns above don't reach.
It's one late night sitting at the computer when it suddenly occurs to Bruce that his first encounter with a doll was at the well entrance, many levels above.
There was nothing there when he went back.
-
The justice league stared at the subaru. The subaru, having no eyes, did not stare back.
The seven of them had just finished a very long, arduous mission, and narrowly escaped government censure after the base they'd been raiding had turned out to belong to some corrupt official. With the alert up, they couldn't escape through city airspace, or even in their hero suits.
So civilian it was.
Batman had hotwired some bloke's car while the rest of them ducked into alleys and shop bathrooms, but the problem remained. There was seven of them. And five seats.
"I can shift into something more suitable for being carried," suggested j'onn, "but I believe one of us might have to hide."
"Foot well?" Hal tried, and everyone looked around at the tall, bulky, broad heroes.
"Think they'd have to go in the boot," Barry finally said. Everyone immediately turned to him. "No."
Batman spoke up before the discussion could devolve.
"I think.... I would be best for that."
The team stared.
"Batsy?"
Having no lungs meant he could not drag in the tired sigh he wished, but whatever force allowed this body to talk was capable of approximating something suitably resigned.
"As I am, I am... incapable of fully passing as human. It would be best if I remained out of sight."
"So just? Go change? I swear we won't be weird about whoever you are under the mask. Even if you're like, bald."
"Thank you, Wally, but I'm afraid I'm being serious." Reaching for the mask in broad daylight was unpleasant, but the glue and wires held as he gave it a few thorough tugs. "It doesn't detach."
Everyone stared. Clark reached out as if he wanted to check, but withdrew.
"Do you even have a civilian identity??" Oliver eventually asked. "Because at this point I'm genuinely not sure."
Wayne Enterprises and Queen Industries had a meeting that same evening. "Hn."
"Can we go back to the 'incapable of passing as human' part?!"
"We can discuss it in the car," he snapped, stalking past Barry and popping the boot. "In case you haven't forgotten, we're on a time limit."
For once, that seemed to encourage them, and batman, with great dignity, folded his joints and cape into the small space, ignoring Hal's mutter of 'what kind of contortionist -' as he slammed the lid. With a little shuffling he managed to activate his comms.
"I will inform the watchtower of our delay."
"Batman, they're tapping all outgoing signals, you can't -"
"It won't trigger," he interrupted, before he twisted his consciousness and sent it spiralling across the country.
Bruce awoke with a groan, stretching his limbs and taking a moment to marinate in his annoyance before he reached for the comm and voice modulator on the beside table.
"Batman to watchtower, we've encountered delays. If the Texan state government calls we haven't entered the state in six weeks. Batman out."
-
"Alien?"
"No."
"Reanimated corpse?"
"No."
"Uh... Demon?"
"Hm. No."
"You're not just a meta human, are you?"
"No."
"Vampire?"
"No."
"Robot??"
"No."
"Batsy, please, someone's got to win the bet eventually. How do we even know you're not lying?!"
"You don't," Batman said, not looking up from his paperwork and Flash groaned, letting his sticky notes fall to the floor as he buried his head in his arms.
"One day," he bemoaned to the keyboard, "one day we'll figure it out."
"Until then please keep your eyes on the monitors."
Flash groaned again.
-
Robin ducked under superman's arm as he scuttled down the corridor, laden with the night's haul of snacks. The real problem wasn't getting them - stopping league members from raiding the kitchen would be extremely counterproductive - but keeping them until he could return home to his human body to eat them. Batman had started searching him each time they left and it was really cutting into his daily sugar intake. Unfair! Just because he didn't actually use energy to stay up my night to fight crime, it felt like he did!!
'Oh, you're broken, Robin, oh, don't go out until the glue has fully set, Robin' his arm was fine! It wasn't like there was much crime to be fought on the watchtower anyway! At least not physically.
So he was pretty pleased with himself until he went to set the snacks down and found that the tar like glue they used had soaked through the sleeve and gotten all over his chocolates.
With his other hand, he tried to pry them off, wincing as the wrappers tore and stuck. He tried to shake it, ignoring the way his elbow rattled in the joint.
"Come on, come on - aw, cheezits."
The arm fell off. Robin stared despondently at the limb, surrounded by torn wrappers and dripping black glue where it connected to the elbow. The sour stink of formaldehyde filled the air.
He was going to be in such trouble with Bruce.
The click of the door jerked his head up.
Flash stood in the doorway, wide eyed. Robin stared back.
Flash screamed.
Oh yeah @dehydratedmockingbird have a thing

It's so interesting and so exceedingly frustrating how agab is being utilized now within the queer community as a way to isolate and sort nonbinary and genderqueer folks into binary boxes that determine their moral purity levels, and their authority to do and write and exist.
The way nonbinary writers are being put under accusation of fetishizing gay men while their AGAB is continually brought up in a way that feels like queer-space-approved misgendering.
The way feminist circles that are supposedly trans-inclusive will use the word AFAB in a way that implicitly but intentionally isolates nonbinary people who aren't AFAB from joining. It's for women*.
The way the language is already flawed and leaves out intersex folks from the conversations while focusing on a binary of sex that isn't truthful.
The constant obsessing over whether someone is AFAB or AMAB and whether or not that gives them the privilege to join, do, write, or be present in certain spaces really really concerns me. How are we supposed to dismantle a binary system of gender if we can't even move past forcibly assigning and focusing on people's genders assigned at birth?
#and yes i understand! that agab language can in some circumstances be helpful in inclusive language and in the medical world but ultimately#is misgendering and unnecessary it should be up to the person to disclose their agab not an expectation of them to give up freely#I think that inclusive language shouldnt be misgendering in nature and agab as far as i can tell should only be used in select discussions#and certainly not as a way to frame a nonbinary writer as a “biological woman” but in a way where the queer community will nod along and sa#“oh they have a point” because you used the word AFAB instead#honestly afab is the term i see used most frequently and most harmfully towards other nonbinary people who don't identify w the label#to exclude trans women and amab nonbinary people#to frame nonbinary people as “still women” because of their assigned gender at birth#also i understand its not as simple as “not using” these terms bc they still serve a purpose and are important#but as they leave the queer community and as they enter the hands of cis queer people they become weapons#i wish i could like manifest my thoughts super clearly but i really cant bc its a difficult situation#its just another example of misogyny and bio-essentialism creeping into the queer community#because the patriarchy impacts all things including our discussions of trans oppression and gender we need to stop viewing it#as a strict binary of male female and oh sometimes we'll mention nonbinary people but we're all afab and amabs at the end of the day <3#like flames literal flames#if you wanna like chip into the conversation just shoot me an ask or respond to the post i'd love to hear other peoples perspectives#im not infalliable so if i said anything you view as incorrect especially in regards to intersex folks and how you all would like to be#included in these discussions as im not intersex but am aware of how agab is a subject that leans into the idea of a binary of sex#so yeah rant over <3#retro.bullshit#rant

I pull out so many random facts about the making of Lord of the Rings that people usually respond with, 'how do you even know that?!'
oh, friend.
my brother, a most pretentious lotr fan, snatched up the extended edition hot off the shelf and for weeks it was the only thing on the tv all day long. I've seen every commentary, every special feature . . . twice. maybe more. I didn't have a choice.
#a butterfly obsesses#I've forgotten so much but still#maybe I just don't hang out with nerdy enough people and the rest of you know all this but:#billy boyd every time Minas Tirith is on the screen: I love Minas Tirith#Dominic Monaghan: shut. up.#sean austin forgot to put his waistcoat on for the scene where they all say farewell to frodo so they had to reshoot the whole thing#everybody had to cry again. but the second recording ended up blurry and they had to reshoot a 3rd time. nobody was happy with sean#when sam shows up to fight shelob his hand and sheathed sword appear first like the start of a duel in a western#that's actually peter jackson's hand#sean austin could 'see' shelob when they were filming those scenes. he could very vividly imagine her.#after he saw some cgi test footage of her he lost the ability to imagine her and had to work to get it back#dominic or billy I forget but one stole a skull from the scenes with the army of the dead#after pirates of the Caribbean came out they had to change the design for the army of the dead because the ghost designs were too similar#they built a huge dead Oliphaunt for the battlefield (peter wanted it to be bigger tho)#the people linking up plastic rings for the chain mail wore away their fingerprints on their pointer fingers and thumbs#they basically thawed a frozen stream so andy serkis could dive in and chase a fish in the ice-cold water#I want to say it was billy boyd who had to get a dental procedure done and opted to do with without being numbed#because he had to shoot a scene right after. however he sweated so much his hobbit feet came off#by the time they were put back on the medication would have worn off anyway#viggo mortensen got part of a front tooth chipped off and wanted to finish the scene before having it fixed but they forced him to go#when auditioning horses for the scene the horse kneels down to let the wounded aragorn get on a horse was disqualified for sit on the dummy#the HUGE ring they used for perspective shots

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.
Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.
#squiggposting#i think there might be more 'religious moments' than i remember since it's been a hot minute since i read#but i remember during my first read/while liveblogging it was something that disappointed me#i know it's probably unfair or whatever but it still makes me cringe so hard#that the reason tyrest suddenly became a religious zealot was because he got shot with a brain altering bullet#and his religious fervor is almost literally just a product of him being brain damaged and delusional#like oooooooooooooooooooooooof it's so fucking cringe lol#i'm not sure if i'm making sense honestly. it's not so much the NUMBER of evil vs non evil religious characters#but it's more like. the more prominently religion is part of a character's personality or motivation#the odds of them just being an evil guy shoots up to almost 100%#also then there's dr/ft who's a fucking clown and 'spectralism' is just some half baked hippie shit i can't take seriously#guess my problem isn't with IDW so much as it is with JRO lol#anyways not an objective analysis i might be wrong on some counts that was just my feelings as i read#and also i just don't like it when the worldbuilding around culture only exists when it comes to plot related stuff#it really makes the world feel less lived in/realistic when it's established that there are multiple religions#but then as far as actual customs- beliefs- texts- philosophies- etc there's hardly anything#so the good guys may be religious but there's not much about what their beliefs actually entail and how they impact their daily life#and on the other hand the bad guys are screaming about how they're god's chosen all over the place

i'm totally fine 🙃 (she said like a liar)
dkjhfgds this makes me laugh because everyone is freaking out over Khao saying he just went with the flow/improvised during that scene but like,,,, what else was he supposed to do lmao? it's not like these scenes are choreographed.
But regardless I am definitely affirmatively totally normal about that scene and that will never change 🫠🫠🫠

genuinely wonder how many more people would give gashu the hiyori treatment if only he were a bit more conventionally attractive. you know?
#like don't get me wrong. sou is a sympathetic character and hiyori brings an interesting parallel to kai#but there is always some level of 'they didn't do anything wrong' in a specific type of fans' mindsets#the most egregious example would be people's treatment of kutaro versus sou after chapter two#kutaro is nowhere near as awful or manipulative as sou or hiyori or [gashu] (in this scenario) - but he was treated with as much distaste#despite having taken very reasonable actions for his character. especially after the ch3 expansion of his character#he was someone who worked desperately to make a name for himself out of nothing. and he was scared of not only losing that#but of being the a catalyst of hopelessness for the other children at the orphanage in his failure/disappearance#he was harsh in ch1's first main game - but he was using this opportunity to tell these three that it's up to them#to prove that they're worth enough to the group. he didn't want anyone to die necessarily - he used this opportunity to spur them on#you have to remember he was raised in an environment of asunaro's orphanage where ''mandatory education'' was considered generosity.#this wasn't the best method of doing so. but it was the one someone with a personality like kutaro's would go for#it makes sense for his character. as does the fact that gin warms up to him afterward throughout the events of ch2#and yet people still - for the longest time. and even now! - treat him as if he's worse than sou or hiyori. and it ruins me#like...so much of it is solely based on appearance rather than their actual role in the story#it's the same sort of bitter hand that fictional women are often dealt but i'm...not getting into that now. too much ranting for today!#i mean you could shoot me an ask if you'd want to hear but it's just. stuff you're bound to see if you've been in fan spaces long enough#jestersvaguely#yttdposting

I know I’m preaching to the choir on tumblr but I am so FED UP of not being able to walk to places that are really close to me because it is assumed that everyone has a car and would only use their feet for recreational purposes so there are long stretches of road with no path alongside them, and no public paths that don’t take you six miles out of your way for what should have been a quick trip to the next village over.
#Sure I could walk along the road- if I wanted to get killed by Roddy the Perthshire Boy Racer#Or Gordon the estate agent in his fancy car speeding because he just can't be late for his meeting#Not to mention being right across the dual carriageway from somewhere but having to go the long way round#So I want to cross the road then walk uphill to the village which should only be a mile on foot at most#But sadly there was a traffic jam in the middle of Dundee so the traffic is backed up halfway to Perth#And I can't cross the dual carriageway without getting uncomfortably close to frustrated people in SUVs#So I now have to go two miles down the road to find an underpass and then walk back up the other side of the road#which often doesn't have a path just a badly cut verge; all the while breathing in petrol#All of this takes nearly two hours for what was essentially CROSSING THE ROAD#There should be pavements beside all public roads though no matter how small this is a hill I will die on#And a footbridge or underpass for every turn off#People who live in the countryside shouldn't need to take their lives into their hands just to walk from their house to the nearest town#The alternative being to hike uphill through somebody else's woods where you can never be sure if they're shooting and cross a river#This taking you out of your way by about four miles and then you have to carry your shopping all the way back again#The roads belong to foot passengers (and horses) first#Cars only came along in the last hundred years but they've taken over and people don't seem to realise it

Is there a place around here for someone who is not a larrie but enjoys larry as a thought experiment and occasionally indulges in tinhatting about stuff that happened in ye old band days but who also likes both Harry and Louis as individuals and wants to see them do well in their separate life journeys? It’s hard to make friends in these parts because it seems like everyone is pretty entrenched in their battles.
Uh, yeah, there is, at least in terms of people you can follow, I mean!

somehow the thought of you firing a gun is so crazy to me, it's like someone said their bunny had once killed a man or something
ohh that's really funny 😭 ig it's one of those odd things where being raised rurally gives you some uhhhh unexpected? character traits that run counter to your temperament a little. my grandpa was a hunter and all of us kids were allowed to shoot one of his rifles once. i think my parents only allowed it because teenagers often start shooting as a sport quite young around here anyway - it's a Whole Thing in my region.
