Castlemas #23 #6: Forget
Season 5
It had been her idea to go for a walk and enjoy the snow and he was really surprised but happy to let her lead the way. He still couldn't look at it the same after their latest case though. It still hit him a little, remembering the sight of Santa in the snow.
"Are you still upset about Santa?" she asks. He breaks his gaze from the snow, looks up to find her watching him. Sees a gleam come into her eyes and suddenly she's pushing him, urging him backwards to a fresh patch and before he knows what's happening, they're laying down and laughing like kids.
"Feel better?" she checks and he sits up, looks at her, cheeks red and a smile on her face.
"I wanted to get you alone in the snow but this was not what I had in mind," he jokes. "And you accuse me of being a child on a sugar rush."
She shrugs. "At least you're not thinking about Santa anymore. But tell anyone I did this, they'll never believe you."
He smirks, climbing to his feet and extending a hand to her, taking in the snow angels left in the snow. "Do not worry, Detective, your reputation is safe with me."
She pats snow from her butt, cocks an eyebrow at him. "Oh yeah, you and Nikki have done wonders for my reputation."
He chuckles. "And you say you're not a fan."
"Coffee?" She suggests, taking his hand and leading him away.

Castlemas '23 #1: The Game Begins
Post Series
She watches her kids, sat on the sofa and staring at their father pacing back and forth in front of them and she's agreement with them - he's lost it.
"I know you all love Alexis," he continues. "I love Alexis. But you are not allowed to help her."
Kate shakes her head.
"No matter what she asks you to do, you say no," he instructs his youngest children.
The three of them look at her and she rolls her eyes, stands for her seat beside them and stops his pacing, takes her hands in his and squeezes them, making sure he's looking at her face to know she means what she's about to say.
"You are certifiable," she tells him lovingly. "Whammagedon is stupid and you and Alexis can both leave these three out of it."
"Go play," she tells her kids and watches them flee, chuckles when she hears the three of them whispering amongst themselves as they try to work out what had just happened.
"Beckett," he begins but she lifts a hand to stop him.
"Those four are gonna gang up on you, whether you like it or not," She smirks. "Me too. Face it, babe." She pats his chest affectionately, following her children up the stairs.
He looks back at his phone, pulls up the last message from his eldest.
Happy December 1st. The games begin.
He grins. He has some ideas.
