Ray’s such a calm older brother in the sense that he’s both never intruding in on your personal space & gives you your freedom while still being able to know when he has to step up and protect you (even though he wants to protect you all the time)

Growing up the both of you were close (Fenrir was thrown in that mix too with how often the two boys hung out) But after Ray joined the army, steadily climbing the ranks and you stuck focusing on your studies you guys kind of drifted apart for sometime

You aren’t sure who started it but soon you found yourselves sending each other letters as a way to stay in touch (your letter more often than not having a picture of Belle tucked inside)

The little kitty loves you by the way - you’re his second favourite hooman (it’s cause you spoil him with cuddles), Ray’ll sometimes get jealous when the feline snuggles up to you because he thinks that his own cat loves you more than him

One day though you were walking home from school and passed an alleyway, faintly hearing someone baby talk to something. Curiosity got the better of you and that’s how you found your older brother, cross legged on the dirty street coddling one too many street cats

Though you do travel to that particular spot a lot now (usually as a way to procrastinate destress from school (or simply because you love cats like Ray does)) You’ll also keep them company when Ray can’t

Ray hates it when you go out late at night since anything could happen to you. It nags at the back of his mind a lot, that one day something might happen to his precious little sister and that he might not be there to save you. Old wounds and feelings resurface at the list of possibilities that come to mind.

He doesn’t want history to repeat itself, he doesn’t want to be unable to protect you from danger. So anytime that you visit headquarters and you stay late you either simply stay the night or have an escort take you home. You can choose which option you’d like but Ray’s not taking a ‘no’ as any form of an answer

Calls you dufus just because he can (but affectionately). Might also ruffle your hair and/or pat you on the shoulder

You call him an old man because he can’t stay up past 10PM (Ray’ll then make some kind of comment regarding Sirius and how he’s more of an old man, to which you both laugh until the man himself makes his presence behind you known)

Absolutely the kind of brother to move things you need off a shelf out of your reach before proceeding to walk away with a satisfied smile on his face

Also the kind of brother to tease you about any cute boys/girls/people that he catches you staring at or gushing about (but he’ll stop if you tell him seriously to stop)

Do you like books? Ray likes books. He has a lot of books. Take a book, please he has too many--

If you enjoy reading, Ray is constantly recommending you novels, letting you read them before casually asking you your opinion on certain characters or events when you’re returning it. But even if you're not an avid reader he may still hand you a book or two that he knows you'll enjoy

Like mentioned earlier, Ray is very busy with Army work and such but honestly, out of everyone in the Black Army, he’s the second best person to come to with homework (second only to Sirius). Especially with history. Like, you need the entire history of the Black Army or Cradle? He’s got you, he had to read up on it when he was on the road to becoming the King of Spades.

Really, you could just pop right into his office at anytime, ask your question and Ray will be able to answer without missing a beat before going back to whatever he was doing

You can always come to Ray for anything. Questions, complaints you name it he’ll listen to your woes/answer however he can.

You guys bond over your teacher(s) giving too much homework; Ray reminiscing when he was your age and in high school - he completely understands the struggle (it was excruciating. All the work prolonged the sweet embrace of a good night’s sleep T~T)

There’s someone who’s picking on you? Don’t worry he’ll deal with them >:)

He might not always know how he can help or comfort you since he’s not the best with words when it comes to certain things, but that won’t stop him from at least helping where he can

Will never let anything happen to you -- Ray protects you with his life and he'll use any power he has if it means that you can walk out unharmed, that’s how much he cares for you

Fenrir Godspeed

Fenrir doubles as both your older brother and your best friend

110% flaunts how you’re the coolest little sister a brother could have to anyone that will listen (most of the time it’s the Black Army tho)

Flips between calling you by name, ‘sis’ and any other ridiculous nickname he can come up with (but don’t worry - you have an equally stupid name for him)

Considers you his best buddy (aside from Ray that is)

Fenrir’s also the kind of brother to pat his sister’s head, ruffle her hair, give gentle noogies and shake her around by the shoulders/poke her playfully then go ‘wasn’t me’. Just like these wholesome little things that mean no harm or anything

I also like the idea of Fenrir giving his sister piggyback rides - it's just a nice thought, please don't take this away from me I beg of you T-T

Best bro Fenrir picks you up from school every day, no ifs, ands or buts! Usually, he’ll buy you your favourite sweet/snack and give it to you when he gets there.

Brings Shu Shu along as well and the three of you will talk about what happened at school or anything exciting that may have happened as he walks you either home or to the barracks

You’re both very chaotic + Ray joins in too most of the time. Quite a few pranks happen when you’re at Black HQ (RIP the Black Army when you come over and you three triple team them).

Harmless pranks I promise!

Fenrir may take one of your belongings (a brush, your favourite book or an accessory) and run around the place with the only way of you getting it back is to catch him

There was this one time you snuck tomatoes into his food to see if he’d notice.

Spoiler alert: he most certainly did

After that he kinda ignored you for the rest of the day as payback, pouting and pretending like you weren’t there, saying stuff like ‘huh? Did you hear that?” At the end of the day though he wasn't mad and was able to laugh it off (it doesn’t erase the betrayal he felt tho)

Once in a while you’ll also poke fun at his fear of ghosts, saying off hand that there’s one at the end of the hall, down in the cellar or behind him. You never go too far though - not after the time that a prank of yours left him really shaken. You’ve never seen him so scared in your life and don’t plan to again.

Oliver’s soul nearly left his body when he first met you and learned that you took after your troublesome brother

Fenrir loves helping you with any school work you have cause he likes being a dependable brother for you! …The only problem is that sometimes he doesn’t know how to. Like, he grasps the basic concepts of what you’re talking about, but if you ask him how to calculate acceleration or a parabola he draws a blank - you’ve lost him.

Pls cut him some slack tho he’s trying his best and just the thought alone is sweet 🥺

Compared to his best buddy Ray, the Ace of Spades has quite a bit of free time, which he spends by dropping by the family home where you still live for surprise visits.

Most greetings start with “There’s my favourite sister!” with you adding on “I’m your only sister Fenrir…”

You still welcome him with a smile, open arms and a hug :)

Swears up, down and on his life to keep you and army affairs separate, he’s NOT going to expose his little sister to the violence that comes with his occupation. He stands firm on this decision. This topic is one of the only times you’ll see him actually serious

You’re not stupid though, you know what goes on, and, because of this, every time you hear in passing that the gun crazed Ace of Spades was at it again - launching himself straight into battle - there’s this pang of anxiety that rattles you to your core. You’re sure that there always will be no matter how much times passes

As a sum up - very loving and goofy brother/best friend with the addition of lots of pranks and battle scares 😎✌️

Luka Clemence

You know how in game Luka starts off as kinda cold to MC/Alice? Yeah there's none of that with his little sister

Usually when hanging around her he's most of the time adorning a small smile cause he finds joy in being around her

The relationship you have is a VERY close one considering that, while growing up in the prestigious Clemence household, it was basically you and Luka against the world

Sometimes Luka fears that you’re really lonely back at home because he’s not around as much as he used to be ever since joining the Black Army. Therefore, every week he’s set aside at the bare minimum a whole day (or at least an afternoon/evening) to go visit you - or for you to visit him!

Y’all cooking buddies and I’ll die on this hill

Luka teaches you any and everything he knows about cooking all the way to baking. He’ll even write down recipes for your favourite dishes so you can make them when he’s not there.

Whenever you’re visiting the Black Army and it’s Luka’s turn to make dinner you pitch in and help. He’ll make some of the dishes while you make the others.

The Black Army adores your cooking since you have such a great teacher/brother

Luka lets you hold/pet/feed/take care of Stone. You’re the only exception he makes when it comes to his furry companion

Don’t swear around him he’ll die (that is, after getting told by the other Black Army officers why it's such a bad thing and a big deal)

Lets you hold his sword once but you ended up nearly toppling over because it was heavier than you first anticipated.

Would play the violin for you while you study if you asked him, especially if you bring up that it helps you concentrate better

Sibling fights are non-existent. The only time that there’s a chance of you butting heads is when Luka starts pushing himself too much with training or the conversion involves Jonah

Speaking of the Queen of Hearts--

It’s a constant tug of war between the two brothers on who gets to spend the day with you. Luka’s scowling, Jonah’s pouting and you’re wondering what you have to do to get your brothers to get along (or at least have it where you’re not in the middle of it all)

Very supportive of whatever you want to do with your life. Luka also tells you every once in a while that you can always come live in Black territory or even the barracks when you’re a little older if you want to

All the more should Jonah/your parents ever try to enforce something on you (like some kind of lesson/social norms for Red Territory that you don’t like etc.). Luka will 100% whisk you away into Black Territory to get away from it all, just say the word.

All in all each of the boys are wrapped around their little sister's finger and would do anything to keep her safe and happy :)

Okay, so I LOVE TALKING SKINCARE. This is a huge topic for me and I often write up a blog post once a year where i recommend skin care products. So here is this year’s recommendation! An insanelyyyyy long and detailed post nobody asked for!! HERE WE GO:

I am a long time skincare advocate...before it really blew up and people started really getting to know more about their products and ingredients. I’ve just always had very acne-prone skin so I’ve had to pay attention to what products and ingredients I was using and how their formulas worked for me. As a result, over the years I tried A SHIT TON of products. Many expensive, fancy, high end, etc. But now I have my skincare routine down to a much more manageable and quality ingredient list. Obviously everyone’s skin is different...but this is what I use on a regular basis these days:

Serums:

- Krave Beauty’s Great Barrier Relief Serum: Honestly, this is THE SHIT. My favorite moisturizing serum to really help balance your skins hydration barrier and stay hydrated. It’s thicker and almost feels like a moisturizer. It’s so great. - The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Drops: Niacinamide is an amazing ingredient for your skin and can help a tremendous amount with clearing the skin, resurfacing, fading scars, and more. This really does a good job helping with my acne, so i really recommend to anyone. And I am pretty sure it’s like $5 cause it’s from the ordinary.

Moisturizers:

- CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: It’s a very cheap drug store moisturizer that has good, clean ingredients. After using fancy moisturizers for years, I finally gave into my dermatologist’s recommended lotion. LOL. They do have a lotion that is lighter, but my skin tends to be dryer, especially in the winter so I use the cream not the lotion. It’s thicker. (For high end junkies--it’s like comparing Drunk Elephant’s LaLa Retro to their Protini cream). I also sometimes throw in drops of a marula oil into this cream if I am really dry. Make myself a little face smoothie.

Eye/Lip Creams:

- Mario Badescu Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream: Now honestly, I still haven’t found my perfect eye cream yet...but I have used this one for a few years now. It moisturizes well and is cheap to buy. It’s probs not the most effective but at least I am moisturizing my eye area. One day I will take on more eye creams that target certain things, but that is one day when I have money to spend lmao. -Glossier Bubblewrap Lip/Eye Cream: This is a very unique moisturizing product that is meant for sensitive skin like your eye area and lips. It does say it plumps a bit, which I don’t ever feel a plumping effect, but I do love to use it on my lips. It’s so moisturizing and is kind of like using a primer before you apply chapstick or lipstick.

Exfoliators:

- Glossier Solution: The OG chemical exfoliant I tried and loved. These types of products aren’t great for everyone, and may have to be used less or more depending on skin type, but as an acne-prone human, I love a chemical exfoliant. This works and lasts a long while.

- Krave Beauty’s Kale-Lalu_AHA: Another chemical exfoliant. I recently tried this one because I do believe Krave Beauty uses better ingredients than Glossier Skin typically does (no shade tho). They were close in price, so I made the switch and have enjoyed the results so far. The packaging is also beautiful.

- Dr. Brant Microdermabrasion Exfoliant: This is NOT a chemical peel, this has aluminum oxyde crystals in it to polish the skin like a normal exfoliant would. It also has a lot of ingredients that help renew and refresh the skin while exfoliating. Now this product is HELLA expensive...I only have it because I once bought it for way cheaper when I had a subscription box. I don’t know if I would spend the full $80 bucks on it, but your skin does feel smooth.

- Tatcha The Deep Polish: This is an enzyme powder that you mix with water and exfoliate fro there. It is from when I used to buy the highest end products in hopes it would help my skin. It is pricey, but again does leave your skin feeling soft. So I rotate it in from time to time.

Masks:

- The Ordinary’s AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution: AKA THE BLOOD MASK. Now hugely popular on social media, the “blood mask” is a chemical mask that peels off dead skin and essentially works to eliminate the top layers of your skin and begin rejuvenating a fresher layer for softer, healthier, plumper skin. I do this once a week and it is way cheap. I can compare it to Drunk Elephant’s Sukari Babyfacial and it definitely beats that expensive version.

- Glow Recipe’s Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask: This is an overnight moisturizing mask that you simply wash off in the morning. It really helps lock in moisture and feels nice on the skin. I use this when I am feeling really dry.

- Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask: This one you have to mix the dry clay mixture with water and apple cider vinegar to create a goo that you can then let dry on your face. It may be intense for some, but I find it really helps dry out my acne spots and reduce redness in my skin. It’s always a fun one to do with other people too because you do have to prepare it. Good sleepover activity.

- GlamGlow Bubble Sheet Mask: This one is honestly more so used for when I am traveling and want to keep a mask on hand or when I am having a fun girls night or something. It’s a bubble mask--so to me that just means fun. I typically avoid sheet masks (unless I am traveling) because I think you end up throwing a way a lot of product you are paying for. But this one is fun, it’s cute, it’s different. I don’t notice a huge change in my skin tbh, but it is a fun activity for girls night.

Honorable Mention/Random Products:

- Youth to the People’s Kale and Green Tea Superfood Cleanser: I stayed away from this one for a long time because it’s expensive and I could rationalize buying such an expensive cleanser, but I got a gift card to Sephora and finally decided to try it. And ya know what?? I guess I am fancy now because I really love it. It does not overly strip your skin at all, and for the first time in my life I really know what that means. It’s so great, it smells so good. Ugh. Can’t get enough of this bougie bitch of a face wash.

- The Inkey List Retinol Cream: A recent purchase, but I have enjoyed seeing the results. Everyone imo should be using an eye cream and a retinol. This is a nice introduction to retinol, so I recommend to those looking for one.

- Glossier Mint Balm Dot Com Chapstick: THIS AGAIN--IS THE SHIT. Many will say they would never spend more than two bucks but one tube of their’s is seven bucks and it is WORTH IT. I buy the three pack once a year and i’m good. This is the best chapstick you will literally ever use. Fucking buy it. If I could tell you only three products that are a must from this list this would be one of them. (the other two would be great barrier relief and the kale cleanser)

- Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: I like this lip mask, it’s not needed everynight, but I do like to use a lip exfoliant (made or buy one, whatever) and then use this to really retextures my lips.

- Bag Balm: Now this is a very unusual product to recommend lmaooo. Originally, bag balm is used for chapped cow udders on farms--which is how I discovered it. Farmers eventually noticed that it helped your skin retain moisture and repair cracked skin in their hands. So now it is known as a good thick ass cream for hands and feet. Now this shit is again--used on cows originally, so the formula feels thick and greasy. I like putting it on at night and letting it soak in for a while as I lay on my phone. It really works--I swear to you.

- Sagely CBD Cream: I use their relief and recovery crea which smells like lavender and has a cooling effect when applied to the skin (kinda like biofreeze or icyhot would). This is only a 50mg CBD lotion, but I do like it.

- Mad Ritual CBD Muscle Recovery Balm: Now this is thick and definitely a balm, not a cream. It is much higher strength though, so I break it out when needed and a little goes a long way. This one is 200mg of CBD.

- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This drying lotion is now so popular but has been a staple of mine for at least a decade now. You leave it on over night and it really does dry up and reduce zit size. Helps a lot. There must be a reason why super models are told to use this shit before a runway show.

- Tatcha The Essence: Essences are a new and kind of weird thing, kinda like priming the skin to allow for better absorption of a product. Now this product I received as a Christmas gift one year, but I am pretty sure it’s like $100...breaking the bank as always, tatcha. Anyway, it does allow for better absorption of products and feels light and refreshing on the skin. One bottle has lasted me two years now. I don’t know if I would recommend it, but I do use it somewhat regularly and it does make you feel like a bougie bitch.

It has meme worthy illustrations xD. The graphics are nice but I found Taekyung (one of the MCs) to be a little toxic. Also, some parts of the story were not wrapped up/discussed enough imo. But overall, it was a pleasant read.

It’s by Harada (author of ‘Yatamomo’ and ‘Color Recipe’) so expect dark themes. Trigger warning for rape. I suggest you skip the rape if you can’t handle it because this manga is so good. Its art and story (much like Harada’s other works) will really suck you in. This left a deep impression on me because the characters felt so alive. I respect Harada so much for that ability.

cyborg and starfire are the cuddliest couple ever. the PDA is incredible. star will perch on his shoulders like he’s a climbing post/bird perch and generally just drape herself all over him bc he’s got a lot of surface area and she wants comfy. and cy will just grab her out of midair for huggles before letting her float away again like a balloon headed straight for the atmosphere. star will float higher when she wants to look over his shoulder at something (bc hes the only titan taller than her) and sometimes cy will just reach up and touch her waist and lead her around in the air like that while they chat

the other titans support them, but are simultaneously disgusted by the excessive amount of PDA. cy sometimes milks star’s affection to troll everyone, especially at the breakfast table. “hey star i havent had my morning kiss today” “oh apologies” “do that long tongue thingy again babe” “if you two dont let me eat my waffles in peace for just ONE morning i will open a portal to the seventh circle of hell and chuck the both of you inside”

star is living for the unabashed affection bc cyborg has no qualms about being proud boyfriend in public. like he’ll wrap an arm around her and go “hey star’s my girlfriend :)” and the grocery store clerk’s like “we know, that’ll be $15.99″ and star’s just beaming, holding the plastic bags full of snacks and unorthodox food combinations

if cy’s generous with the lovin wait till you see star lmao. “you are looking most beautiful today!” she keeps saying shit literally no one else will say, either (possibly) coz of the robot thing or just coz starfire’s being starfire, and cyborg’s just like *clutches_chest.jpeg* because she a lil weirdo but she makes him feel normal and appreciated and that he’s great the way he is, that he’s desired even if a lot of him isn’t organic anymore. like yes!! my boyfriend is comprised of 80% robotic parts!! he is extremely strong and the “cool”!!! is he not absolutely wonderful???

star doesnt have a lot of preconceived notions of what a normal human relationship is, outside of things she sees on TV and robin’s incomprehensible push-pulling over the years. so she doesn’t care one bit about the fact that she’s cuddling a robot. she’d figured starting a relationship with anyone on earth would be something different for her regardless– so a lot of the things cyborg used to think a partner would find problems with, end up not happening because man, this alien chick. “may i lay together with you in your bed?” “girl are you saying you wanna sleep while standing up?? on my charging port???? surrounded by 3478012 cables and wires?????” “is there no room? then may i sleep on the floor?” she just wants to be with him

heck more bed shenanigans would involve like, cyborg awkwardly trying to lie down on star’s bed, and it feels weird coz he hasn’t slept in a real bed for years and while it feels nice he’s kinda sinking into the mattress and he’s self-conscious about leaving a dent in the frame?? or like rolling over at night and squashing star which would be awkward coz he’s more than a little heavy?? then star hops in and cuddles close and is all like shhhhhhhhh slep time

silkie is usually very happy about cyborg’s presence in star’s room, if only because he can gnaw on cy’s legs while they sleep. cy begins to think it’s also revenge since there’s a lot less space on the bed with himself in it, and silkie struggles to find room near starfire to sleep at night. they eventually just get a bigger bed. silkie is a lot less stressed– but cyborg still wakes up with chew marks in his legs

if either of them are too tired from a battle that day, the other will carry them to bed. BB laughed his ass off the first time he saw starfire princess carrying cy to his room (star’s perfectly capable of carrying his weight but her arms aren’t necessarily long enough to hold onto him properly, making it a little cumbersome and awkward), but cy just tiredly gives B the finger

cy will talk to star in awkward broken tamaranian and she’ll get all giggly. everyone else assumes it’s cute flirting, but he’s actually whispering dirty, raunchy shit. that she taught him. and she continues to teach him tamaranian, occasionally dropping new words while otherwise speaking english, and waiting for him to ask about what they mean.

cy will sometimes smack star’s ass and then run for his life before she can return the favor, because he always ends up with an overly-enthusiastic handprint-shaped dent in his ass. it’s a terrifying game of tag. BB will chase them chasing each other with a camera to add to his album of “cyborg’s dented ass” photos that he shares with the whole titans network

cy teaches star about the niches in earth/american culture, the kinds of things that are a little harder to learn about on your own, or things she otherwise wouldn’t have had a reason to learn. he tells her about old american tv shows and explains obscure slang words and how to make telemarketers hang up first and what the contra code is and why he mashes it in every time he boots up a new video game. it’s a crash course mix of useless trivia and miscellaneous culture that makes star’s head spin– but she’s excited about learning all the same, the power of just knowing more makes her feel more comfortable on a planet where she is always a foreigner

it’s kinda why star adores all the different nicknames cy has for her like “fly girl” “baby doll” etc because it makes her feel “in” coz she gets all these cool nicks of names like other earth people!! she fits in!!!! and he’ll say it so fondly it makes her blush half the time. cy definitely notices and thinks its super cute at how excited she gets over pet names. she tries to nickname him back at one point but it felt awkward and she struggled to come up with them, and cy reassured her that he liked her saying out his name anyway, its cool. just be yourself babey

cy loves teaching star things in general, he’s patient and she’s always an eager student. he once took a few hours showing her how to play video games and while she didn’t really take to it, she did learn how to not break the controller whenever her virtual car’s about to crash into the divider (she still shrieks when it happens though)

initially, star is a bit nervous about touching some of cyborg’s robot parts like the implants and consoles coz she’s not sure how to deal with them? alien tech is one thing and earth tech is another, and then there’s the advanced shit that made up cyborg’s body and literally keeps him alive. she’s petrified at the thought of accidentally breaking something like what if she presses the button that turns off his lungs???????? and cy is like why the fuck would i have a button to turn off my lungs?? so one day cy just sits her down so she’s leaning back against his chest, and he looks over her shoulder as he shows her how to navigate his arm console. press this button and choose this option, no the screen wont break even if you press hard, dont use the browser to download malware on my arm like BB did, etc. the ui’s pretty intuitive and star gets it pretty quickly, then she gets all excited. cy teaches her about all the maintenance he does on his body and how his charger works and all that shit and she like oooooo

“if the t-car is your baby, does this mean i am its mother? cyborg does she like me enough? should i assist in changing her oil? *panicking* WILL SHE ACCEPT ME AS HER ADOPTED K’NORFKA?!”

(the t-car is a sassy one, easily jealous and protective– but ultimately, she does approve of starfire, if only just barely)

they spend a lot of time in the garage together. whether cy’s fussing with the t-car or putting together a new gadget, star’s a helpful assistant when it comes to welding or heavy lifting. and while she doesn’t necessarily get programming, she still helps cy with all the calculations and math involved in it; the concept of physics as she has encountered on earth is primitive compared to tamaran, and cy will often challenge her to crack a tough equation before his computer can. while the computer usually gets a result first, star will just explain that its answer was wrong in the large scheme of things, before she starts going in depth into that nerdy science shit to find a more effective way to wire whatever project they’re working on and cy’s just like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ heart eyes ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at how smart she is

they fucking love food. while all the titans are hanging out in the common room, star and cy spend an inordinate amount of time in the kitchen. star will literally eat anything, at any time, and cy would go like “yo star want a sub??” and shes like “YES I WOULD LOVE THE EDIBLE SUBMARINES” and they go make the tallest sub ever and then Eat it

they just cook together a lot, one of them being head chef for the hour and the other being the kitchen assistant. cy’s usually in the lead when they’re making food for the other titans (to prevent food poisoning), and star is happy to learn new recipes that aren’t lethal to her friends– that, and licking all the mixing bowls clean. cy purposely gets sauce etc on his face so that star will see and lick it off too. then star will very unsubtly smear food on her face so that cy will wipe it off with his finger and then things get handsy. (they’re both aware it’s a game, but they pretend like they don’t.)

cy gets them matching aprons and a tiny chef hat for star. she asks him why it’s so tiny or even necessary but he just thinks its cute af on her lol

it helps cy’s ego when star will also eat literally anything he puts in front of her while enjoying it unironically. of course, cy quickly learns that starfire’s favorite “earth” foods are things that most people wouldn’t consider food at all, so while he’ll prepare Real Food for himself, he had to start a new custom cookbook for the random combinations of ingredients that starfire likes to ingest. he’s torn between feeling like his chef skills go to waste on her, or being proud at how good he’s become at figuring out the kinds of food combos she likes based on the flavors and consistencies she’s inclined to. but ultimately she’s just so cute and happy when she smiles at the taste of m&ms on raw steak that cyborg’s just like ahh. fine.

cyborg: *sighs while writing* “edamame in a cherry-chocolate reduction: get a handful of fresh edamame, washing is optional, pour hershey’s chocolate sauce all over it, add cherries but don’t remove the pits or the stems, sprinkle in some drops of 7up, then cover that shit in mustard. stick it all in the microwave for 1 minute, doesn’t really matter what temperature? prep time: 3 and a half minutes. the fuck did i just write”

star: *wolfs down that edamame shit like its the best goddamn thing ever*

meanwhile, while cy can’t stomach star’s tamaranean food, he does go out of his way to learn how to prepare the stuff himself, for whenever star’s sick or feeling down. the nostalgic taste of home tends to help her feel better. the bowls of wustlepus might keep trying to strangle him, but hey, cy can handle it

cy used to think we was master of stuffing his face, but he quickly found out that you do not challenge an alien with 9 stomachs to an eating competition and expect to win. it’s still fun, of course, to pick a restaurant and watch her slowly but surely put away food with a grace that cy doesn’t (care to) have. robin and BB cheer will them on, raven is disgusted but plays referee anyway (even though it’s not like the result ever changes)

“are the table manners required for today’s duel of excessive food consumption?” star will ask cy innocently, but she’d be smiling a lil smugly because she knows she’s gonna win like always

(at some point, the restaurant manager will start eyeing them nervously from the doorway of the staff room, unsure about whether to ask the titans to leave before they run the kitchen dry, or to take advantage of the publicity.)

cy and star are a couple that isn’t inclined to subtle about anything. that means smooching all the time. mwah noises. flirting. glomps. yelling at shit together for fun– cy just expresses himself loudly, while shouting at each other is a form of affection on tamaran. they’ll sometimes wrestle, sometimes arm wrestling and sometimes all out full-body on the floor (actual wrestling tho, not a innuendo; star usually wins). they keep denting walls and furniture with their messing around and the other titans are like /(e_e)\ *passing out earplugs* and at some point robin is like guys… just… keep it in your rooms please

but being loud isn’t exclusive to daytime. nobody fucking knows how the hell an alien and a robot get it on, but based on all the god damn noise at night, they’ve apparently figured something out. maybe more than one something. it is a mystery

“hey, star… ever heard of a vibrator?”

most of their making out happens in the gym tho, let’s be real. they’ve been checking each other out for years in there. now they just get frisky after (or during, or before) a workout, culminating in yet another “workout”. they never lock the door, and after enough incidents the other titans just end up boycotting the gym entirely in lieu of the other training room

with the added privacy, star opts to work out in the gym without a top on. or a bra. then she heads for the treadmill

“you never wear clothing, cyborg, so why should i?”

cyborg keeps dropping his weights on himself and just ends up covered in dents, two mangled prosthetic legs, and having done no training at all

they’re such a peppy excited pair that sometimes things can get a bit too wild. there’s a pile in the back of cy’s room made up solely of dented/crushed/melted/ripped arm and leg prosthetics, all damaged because cy was busy pampering his superpowered alien gf a lil too much. starfire feels super bad but cy is like, he has to fix his limbs after a lot of battles anyway, it’s no big deal. he also hasn’t bothered to suggest a workaround yet because watching her lose control is hot (and maybe getting his hand melted is kinda kinky)

they sometimes troll the other titans– usually robin– by whispering in tamaranian behind them and snickering, pretending like they’re talking about them. robin used to be extra miffed by this, but after learning that cy’s tamaranian is actually still shit enough that he has yet to learn to string together a proper sentence longer than 3 words, robin knows they’re just fucking around with him. at one point robin turns around on the couch and throws some tamaranian right back at them and cyborg’s like :O what the fuck? what the fuck?? and star’s like yeah actually robin asked me to teach him tamaranian too. and robin’s like :) and cy is grumpy he can’t antagonize him with it anymore (and that it’s not exclusively his and star’s code language anymore, but really, you can’t own a language like that)

star likes to cart cy around while flying, but he’s just so bulky that he doesnt look all graceful and shit like robin; he just looks kinda goofy dangling in the air with her holding him under the arms. but even if he felt a little self-conscious, he forgets it quickly when she lets him skim the ocean with his feet or take him up over the clouds– he’d thought he lost everything with the accident that left him a robot, but getting to fly like this is something he never could’ve even dreamed of even when he was all human. like. this must be what it actually means to be living. everything happens for a reason

cy gets a UV lamp installed in his body just in case they get stuck somewhere and there’s no sunlight for star, he can’t replace the sun but it might help

he also turns his heaters up a bit when they’re cuddling coz he knows she likes warmth, as long as he’s not running the risk of overheating his system, but his metal parts can be cold to the touch and while she doesnt mind it at all he just wants her to be cozy….

cy’s like the only titan taller than star, so she usually floats to be eye level with him. he big and bulky and strong and he reminds her of galfore, and that’s part of why she always felt protected and safe around him. not to mention star’s been getting taller than most earth people her age; she sometimes feels like a tall poppy, sticking out of the crowd too much. so she lowkey enjoys being smol for once compared to cyborg, especially if she ever feels like hiding behind him, or being carried by him, the comfort of a sort of bodyguard that she doesn’t necessarily need but is there if she wants

i keep bringing this up but star sitting on cyborg’s shoulders/arms like. the result is this tall stack of a couple that towers over all the other titans– then like everyone will be chilling on the couch when they hear making out noises from above and they look up and its just star floating around cyborg’s head as they smooch and everyone’s like -_-

all the meme fun aside, they’re always able to confide in each other whenever they’re upset. they’ll sit together in silence and just lean on each other or hug and wait for someone to spill. if (when) it comes down to “will i ever fit in?”, because that kinda worry never completely goes away, they’ll be reassured that they know the few places they’ll always be accepted– and that’s in the titans, or in the unconventional relationship between a half robot and an alien nuclear bomb

star likes being around cy coz he’s so sturdy, in more ways than one– he’s strong enough to tank stuff so it’s safer to roughhouse with him. she loves being able to give the biggest of hugs without worrying too much about crushing a ribcage (earthlings and their Fragile Little Bones!)

cy loves how small star is compared to him bc shes fun to pick up or pluck from the air and cuddle ♥ and she’s so warm, just radiating heat both literally and metaphorically and she’s so full of life and heart, and cy’s once again reminded of what it really means to be human– by a goddamn alien, no less

they like to touch each other’s faces, just caressing n stuff like they do in “how long is forever” and the teen titans go comic #24, staring into each others eyes and shit and going all (uwu) they just love to touch each other okay even back when they were just friends!!!!!!!

HAVE I MENTIONED THE SMOOCHES. star will just kiss cy all over his face because its fun and she knows he likes it. then cy returns the favor, except with increasingly exaggerated kissing and nomming noises because it makes star laugh and blush like crazy. it’s horribly embarrassing for anyone else watching. star & cy are usually standing in the middle of the corridor by this point, and then robin was gonna head to his office, but once he sees the path is blocked– by this no less– just returns the way he came without a word

if anyone tries to make star feel uncomfortable for being alien or misunderstanding something, which does still happen sometimes, they’ll quickly find out they’ve got the goddamn terminator comin for their ass. or they’ll turn around and see 6 foot tall robot man with arms crossed and red eye glowing and he’ll be like (: hey there (:

star keeps leaving the garage with motor oil all over her face. none of the other titans knows how to address it, or if they even should, so they don’t

Okay now I already know this one is going to be fun and easy (thanks) :)

I am not the biggest shipper. I don’t really enjoy stories where the entire plot revolves around a love story. Don’t get me wrong, there are always some characters I want to get together, but for the most part, I don’t care if people get a romance interest.

Now on to the ships:

First up: John.

Jarlo: no. I am not a fan of this one. It’s like the fan base is trying to push them into an enemies to lovers relationship, and it just isn’t supported by the way either characters thinks and acts. Like, be serious, could any of you ever see John crushing on Arlo or dating him? No and that’s just because this is one pair of opposites that just don’t complement each other. Their dynamic would never fit as a couple, I’m sorry. I wish they could realistically date, because that would be so fun to read, but alas. They don’t suit each other (hence the whole enemies thing).

Jeraphina: friendship? Hell yes. Boyfriend/girlfriend? Hell no. I don’t think that these two could ever have a relationship based on both of their pasts and the nature of their friendship. Neither of them are looking for a relationship and both seem absolutely content with where they are now: friends. I doubt that these two will even remain friends for long... I don’t know. Like I always say: dynamic is everything. And a Jeraphina dynamic just doesn’t work. Both of them would be pushing and pulling each other, a battle of their wills constantly. If they ever did get together, which I doubt, they would not last long.

John/Isen: no... I kind of get where y’all are coming from, but it’s just too random. And especially considering the love triangle that Isen is already in and just the fact that these two don’t actually interact face to face all that much and whenever they do John just threatens Isen lmao.

John/Blyke: I don’t ship these two, plain and simple. For the same reasons as Isen. But I would actually love to see a friendship between these two. I was king of hoping for it when they became roommates and before Blyke knew Joker’s identity, but I think my hopes have pretty much been crushed now... :(

John/Elaine: you guys are just crazy at this point. No.

John/Remi: we saw a lot of recent interaction between these two. I’m struggling to write how I feel about this. One one hand, they don’t complement each other (personality wise), but at the same time, I liked how Remi actually listened to what John had to say (which he was looking for). I don’t think these two would fit together well, however, because of John. He just doesn’t take her seriously enough and even if he did, he basically hates her. So I don’t think so.

John/Cecile: this was a ship I noticed you didn’t mention, but I wanted to add it here because it has been one of the most intriguing for me recently. Their whole dynamic... I don’t know I just really like it. Both are looking to get ahead and are using each other to do so. And it’s not like they’re faking being friends, they’ve been very open about using each other because that is just their characters. I have said this before, but I think after all this Joker stuff is resolved (which I think will end with John demasked), when Seraphina inevitably leaves John, Cecile will kind of become his only friend. I think that Cecile could replace Claire better than Seraphina ever could because, unlike both of John’s other friends, Cecile knows and understands what kind of a person John is. Cecile wouldn’t be horrified by it like Claire and she hasn’t been lied to about it like Seraphina. I just think that John and Cecile’s personalities complement each other’s very nicely. Cecile is the only person I kind of ship John with.

In conclusion: The only person I could possibly see with John is Cecile.

Now on to Arlo:

Jarlo: see above

Arlaine: no. I get you guys because Elaine likes Arlo, but I already ship her with someone else and I’m not budging.

Pinkass: aka Arlo/Remi. I am a fan of this ship actually. I think that these two can fit together well without becoming super annoyed at each other, or at least, when they become annoyed with each other, it would be endearing. I like this ship better than Arlaine because I think Elaine is too soft for Arlo. Remi won’t break, she isn’t fragile. I don’t think Arlo is the type of person who would appreciate someone holding him back, and Remi wouldn’t do that. 7/10 for this ship from me.

Arphina: I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I need an Arphina friendship. I don’t think these two would do well as a couple, but as friends? I would pay for that shit. I want Arlo and Serraphina to become friends after Joker is unmasked. I think it would be symbolic of a beautiful cycle: them ending where they started. Arlo and Serpahina were originally pushed together because they were the most powerful in the school. I think they both knew that and thought that they could never actually be genuine friends because of it. After the Joker aftermath, I like to think that they’d realize that being forced together is why they should be great friends. They can understand each other in a way that nobody else can. I don’t know... I have a lot of feelings about this. Not as a couple tho... but friendship Arphina is something I want to see before I die.

Arlo/Blyke: no. They have a mentor/student relationship right now and it works. Don’t ruin that please.

In conclusion: I ship Arlo with Remi and would like him to be friends with Seraphina.

Blyke:

Blysen: I would ship this if it weren’t for the love triangle they’re in right now. Sometimes, that would be the recipe for a perfect ship, but I just think that Remi would drive them apart instead of together, you feel me? I low key think this friendship is going to end soon. I think that Isen will become kind of a loner character soon to...

Blyke/Remi: Now, this is going to be confusing because I already said I ship Remi with Arlo, but I kind of ship her with Blyke too (I also kind of want her to stay single purely because of all the romantic stuff happening to her, but that’s for another time). I don’t know why I like this ship. I think it is because they both kind of have that white knight thing going on and I don’t know, they have similar ideals. They complement each other. Maybe a stronger friendship between these two would satisfy me, but I don’t know...

Blyke/Elaine: no.

Blyke/Sera: no.

In conclusion: mostly, I don’t really ship Blyke with anyone hardcore because I think he does well on his own, but the idea of him and Remi being together makes me kind of happy :)

Isen:

Isen/Remi: nah (see below).

Isen/Elaine: Okay I’ve said this once or twice, but the most recent time had to been a few months ago so I’ll explain myself here to all of you guys who didn’t read it before. One of the ships I ship is Isen and Elaine. I really want this to happen and I think that it’ll work between them and I know that I’m not making a lot of sense. Okay, so, Isen and Elaine both have this unrequited love thing going on. I don’t think they would go well with their crushes. Arlo would be too much for Elaine and he would’ve enjoy their relationship, probably feeling dragged down by it. Remi just... doesn’t like Isen. She’s nice and all, but she doesn’t really notice Isen like that at all and I feel if she was looking for someone, she would instantly look at Blyke. I think that Elaine would find the traits she liked in Arlo in Isen. Isen is smart and has good instincts. He is less noble that Arlo, but also is more humble in a way, if that’s the right phrasing. Elaine is nice like Remi is and, like Isen was compared to Arlo, more down to earth, and i don’t know, real. I don’t really know... Basically, I think that Isen and Elaine put their crushes on these pedestals, and I think they’ll realize that and fall for each other...? I’ve worded this really badly, but just know this is one of my favorite ships. I’m not even going to reread this paragraph even though I know it’s probably shit and all over the place. Just... think about it.

In conclusion: reread the whole paragraph above lol.

Okay that’s it I need to post this and I think I mentioned anyone I ship above so even if Seraphina and Remi and Elaine don’t have their own sections, they are mentioned elsewhere.

A lot of people have mentioned that in the tags/under the post and that makes me!!! super happy!!!! Good Omens is one of my fav books and Crowley one of my fav characters, so the comment feels nice! I wasn’t specifically thinking about them when drawing it, but possibly a bit I was influenced anyway!! I wonder if what made everyone think about them was Kiri’s sunglasses? It’s not noticeable but I did give him glowing eyes too after all haha

Never thought of it tbh, but at this point I’m pretty sure with a lot of work on Baku’s part they’d be able to stick together long enough! He wouldn’t find it comfortable but they’d def be one of the strongest three-people-fusions in the class - not the strongest, tho, since they all have the same sort of straightforward offensive power when it comes to their quirks, I think I could find three people who’d make a stronger fusion... Baku Kiri and Momo, for example, would be even more impressive imho! Since all their quirks cover a different field, and their minds/personalities mesh well enough to have the right amount of planning and instinctive reaction/self-preservation and safety of others/pride and self-doubt/lawfulness and chaotic acting and so on. Even just as a team, without counting them as a fusion, I think they’d make one of the most balanced ones! Compared to that putting Todo Deku and Baku in the same place is just a recipe for disaster more often than not haha

HECK anon sorry but nothing like this would happen ever as long as I’m the one writing the AU! For three main reasons! One, I don’t think Deku is traumatized at all! His relationship with Baku at the moment is actually pretty damn neat and on equal footing, you go you two, growing so much!! Two, Baku and Todo are friends!!! And Todo would never be a dick to Baku instead of just talking to him, if he had a problem with him!! Three, even if one and two weren’t true, Deku has no need for knights in shining armor fighting his battles for him!! He’s a strong independent boy and if he hasn’t fought Baku over this it’s probs cause he doesn’t want anyone to fight him over it!!! Also in this specific AU Todo and Deku aren’t dating, so the scenario doesn’t work for me! Sorry!

I’m not gonna draw any other switch with other students, because before settling on Baku and Todo I went through a lot of possibilities and came to the conclusion that nothing would be as funny as Baku and Todo switched are (or at least nothing Horikoshi hasn’t already done himself lmao) so there’s that. Progresso Report - April 2018

This is an ongoing series of charts that I keep to track my slow but inevitable ascendance to a higher and more eternal plane of existence than you, a frail normal person bereft of the life force that courses through me. As I believe Paul Atreides once explained to a Reverend Mother of the Bene Gessit order, the First Law of the Mentat is that “A process cannot be understood by stopping it. Understanding must move with the flow of the process, must join it and flow with it.” Or as I believe Tommy Lee once said, in The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, “Every day after rehearsal, I would pick her up in my van, we’d park somewhere quiet, and she’d squirt her shit everywhere. I loved to just sit there and let her cum on me. Eventually, however, my van started to stink. I drove my mom to the store one afternoon, and she kept asking what the smell was. I had to pretend like I didn’t know.”

April was a goddamn messy one-- but mostly in the sliver of the ol’ living that I keep off that internet, between work stress and private life stuff and health and welfare and everything else. Whole mess of a month there, so not sure what there’s left to talk about in one of these. These charts are all about optimizing “spare time,” but hoo-boy, some months.

But... Here’s the chart:

The Weekly Section:

Cooking - Recipe (1): 2/4 -- Cooking - Dinner (2): 5/8.

Not a lot of cooking this month-- on account of some health spooks, I got pretty confused what I should be eating or not.

The internet is the most spectacularly bad piece of technology when you’re trying to figure out what you should be eating or not, incidentally. Every article about diet on the internet is like “Whatever you do, don’t eat peanuts. *blah blah blah* Have you considered eating more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? The best part is the peanut butter.” Most of the articles make no sense.

Plus, any one fix-your-diet article on the internet is contradicted by at least two-to-five other articles. Nothing agrees with anything else.

Anyways, I got pretty, pretty spooked about my health/lifestyle this month (very specifically: after I ate the dish pictured above-- that was a rough night)(it tasted pretty good tho)-- I had some spooks, sis-- I had some spooks. So, I had to go and hire myself a nutritionist to get that figured out.

I was worried they’d be like “stop eating all Asian foods and also stop breathing oxygen”, crazy-talk, but mostly they zeroed in on cutting down on animal protein. Which is turning out to be pretty tough for me actually-- it turns out I eat a lot of that stuff. Big Food sneaks animal protein into all the good recipes, especially if you count pig semen as being animal protein. (And I for one do!)

But that’s the plan for right now, cutting that down. I haven’t 100% figured out how to get back to cooking while all that’s been going on-- haven’t cooked as much. Need to plan more what I want to be making, though...

Sketchbook Work (1): 6/4. I haven’t drawn enough in a while, so I’m smack-dab back at square one, again. This was not a confidence building month.

I was trying to do character designs so I could use them to build little loy-poly people to populate out the game world I’ve been building. (Which is a huge detour from what I’m “supposed” to be working on, which is building out a convenience store...). So I’ve been looking at these character designers (mostly Japanese folks-- they sure seem to be better at that shit than anybody else), and weird fashion blogs, but when I sit and draw, it’s just been... It’s been pretty gruesome because I’m trying to run before I can crawl. I’m still struggling with circles and squares, so trying to do hot fashionz... Why would that work? Why would that ever work??

Reading (2): 6/8. Don’t remember anything particularly-- I think the only comic I read was the first issue of the latest Ennis Punisher series. I didn’t think that was particularly good, at least on the story side, not compared to that Fury book he’d done, anyways. I thought that first issue overpromised and under-delivered, but it’ll probably be a better trade. But it’s going to have a hard time competing in my head with Fury book which I just think highly of (and it kind of bummed me out how low-energy people were about that series...).

Besides that-- read some short stories? I just got in the mood to read science fiction short stories.

Read a Harlan Ellison short story from his last collection that I’d never gotten to-- a pulp riff called “The Toad Prince; or, Sex Queen of the Martian Pleasure-Domes.” I like Harlan’s pulp riffs because he usually knows to build all the tawdry action stuff on top of a foundation of a pretty open, obvious and proud misanthropy. I think that’s a pretty reliable combo-- never hurt with comics, anyways, from X-Men on.

For me, reminding the reader of people generally being awful turns out to be a pretty trustworthy way to get you to root for or feel suspense for a character, even if maybe not a healthy way, even if those tropes tend to blind some bad-nerds out there to the whole “maybe people will be less awful to you if you’re less of a shitty asshole” life-hack, myself included, I guess, lump me in with some of them folks...

(I mean, not this latest batch of pillow-skulls causing ruckus because that’s a whole other thing. Have you looked at comics people wild-ing out on the internet lately, and like comics draw-y dudes being like “let’s hear both sides” and all the crazy shit? Seems like that world’s all bad news, lately... )

Read a Ray Bradbury short story, too-- The Lake or The Beach or something like that. That wasn’t worth the time, though. I was in the mood for something else, though, when I read it, so maybe that’s on me. Bradbury’s conservatism-- his Americana, that kind of stuff doesn’t speak to me, and it was him in that mode, where... I was just in the mood for something more plot-y or conceptual or .... something different than what I landed on. Some folks can sell nostalgia but Bradbury’s just... something itchy about it.

(Everything I read last month was better than how I spent last week-- way too much time got spent reading about incels for no good goddamn reason. The fucking evil lunatic variety, but also, that’s not who the term was coined for, is the thing. So, if you dig into people talking about it, which yaaaay I chose to do, there’s just these layers of sadness out there, man-- in particular, people who’s shit got all burned, you know, massive severe life-altering skin burns, and stories from sex workers about having to work with them so they’re not just condemned by their misfortune. I spent way too long reading about that.

Serious Burn Victim Sex Stories got a little depressing...? People generally are depressing! I mean, people need sex and to be touched and all that stuff, but man, porno sites got fucking comment sections, so obviously that’s not happening for more people than I think anyone wants to acknowledge. A lot of sexless marriages out there-- that really pushes buttons I don’t want to think too much about having to read about, folks talking about what that’s like for them (spoiler warning: unhappy!).

Fucking comment sections on porno sites. Someone at the dawn of internet porn was like “free porn’s nice and all, but it really needs comment sections-- this needs to be more like Autofocus. Sure, free porn-- but where’s the camaraderie. Autofocus-it up! People come for the porn, but they stay for the Autofocus”...)

Laundry Night (1): 2/4. I want to have a regular weekly weekday Laundry Night, so I’m not rushing around on Sunday’s as much, losing good weekend time, and can be more present for weekends, instead of feeling like I’m constantly playing catch-up on chorin’ when the weekend rolls around. Starting to build more of a habit there, but habit-building’s slow going...

Planning Session (1): 0. I actually really need to start doing this one though on account of needing to plan my diet more. I’m worried this one’s just a nice idea on paper but not something I’m going to make time for, though. But I haven’t given up on this one yet... I know there’s a good idea here!

“Mini-Stepper”/Globogym (3): 9/12. I’d joined a Globogym in March, which had replaced the Mini-Stepper entry. And then after my health spooks in early April (which kept me from going much the first two weeks), I went further and signed up for a trainer, that I’m seeing twice a week since trying to do things properly on my own was obviously a losing battle.

I was spending a lot of time wandering around the gym, confused what I should be doing, like a dog that just woke up from a nap, which feels extra-shabby when you’re amongst the studley people. So I thought a trainer would help with that. Plus, it turns out going to a sales pitch for a trainer when you’re in the middle of a health spook, maybe isn’t the most fiscally prudent decisionmaking. I was just like “Yeah, sign me up, here’s the PIN to my debit card, steal my identity, whatever you want, I’m in.” It was like going to the grocery store when you’re hungry...

The training has been interesting-- I like the part where I don’t have to be responsible for making any decisions a bunch. I’d love to have a trainer whose only job was helping me to choose what to watch on Netflix. Just get everything trained up. But between the nutritionist and the trainer, this year’s shaping up to be more a “get (some of) my shit together” kind of year than I had figured going in. My spending’s a little out of control, thanks to all this, but... That’s shaping up to be the theme...

Shave (2): 1! I have a trainer now, but I’m still fully committed to looking like I’ve given up on myself 100%. When I redo these charts for the next trimester, I really have to figure out a way to make these less embarrassing... jesus christ... The whole idea of these reports is to try to embarrass myself into moving more, pushing harder, but this one’s... I’m feeling it on this one. Haha. Oh man...

Tidy (1): 2/4.

The Monthly Section:

New Restaurant (1): 1-with-an-asterix/2.

I finally got to try Eggslut. Which I’ve been wanting to have for a long while now-- they do egg sandwiches-- but then it got...

It got weirdly publicized when the pedophile who made-up Ren & Stimpy-- that pedophile started harassing the woman who was like “you’re a pedophile” after that article came out, right? And it was awful and disgusting and repugnant like everything else about that guy’s existence, but in the middle of his nonsense, he just started yelling some kinda crazy shit about Eggslut, like “People at eggslut are going to know you’re a dirty slut” or something.

But I went to Eggslut and I’m pretty sure they couldn’t tell I was a dirty slut. (Ladies). Or they were at least nice about it-- nobody said “can we put this egg sandwich inside of you, whore?” to me, like they did that one time at Chili’s, so five stars on Yelp for that. So I don’t know-- I kind of think that horrifying pedophile might not know what he’s talking about, you guys! I hope it doesn’t ruin my career in animation to say so.

Anyways: it was a decent sandwich. I went on an off-hour though-- supposedly the lines get pretty ridiculous...

And then, for the asterix, I was at Umami Burger. I’ve eaten there for years, been to Umami more than a dozen or two times probably, ever since they opened that first place on La Brea, so I can’t count that as a “New Restaurant.” But I finally got to have that Impossible Burger, which is slowly showing up different places around the city-- they started selling them at the Fatburger by my office, too. That’s the new-fangled vegetarian burger that tastes super-meat-y on account of some Frankenstein soy leghemoglobin concoction.

You know you’re not eating meat-- I don’t think it’s going to pass a Turing test. It’s not like anyone on Westworld is going to shove one up their ass, and the audience will be like “why did that happen?? Was that meat or veggies? Why is this happening on a robot slave plantation? Do people go to those for fun in the future??” But for a vegetarian burger, I thought it tasted entirely reasonable, way more reasonable than the competition in that space that I’ve ever tried. But I’d just say I think there’s an uncanny valley thing going on with it...

I had it before I was told I had to cut down my animal protein consumption, so I’m more excited about it now that I know I gotta be doing that.

LA Stuff or Travel(3): 2/3.

There was an art gallery show, across from my gym. New York in the 50′s and 60′s shit... the Picasso’s were tight, bro. I don’t know-- usual gallery stuff; nothing special, nothing jumped out...

And then I went to the Pack Theater for a show. The Pack Theater’s one of those small theaters on Santa Monica that only squeeze in like 40-50 people, I gotta figure. (I think by law they can’t seat more than 100 people...? Isn’t that how it works). It was a Saturday night late show so the crowd was reasonable sized-- but that was a pretty goddamn great show.

It was Heather Anne Campbell playing Ayn Rand and hosting a talk show for other famous dead writers. I just think highly of her generally, and she was having a good night, as far as I go. It was her, and it was James Adomian playing Walt Whitman-- goddamn, that guy is so fucking funny, has been for so long now-- he was just destroying. (He’s really great on the live Dollop episode about the New York to Paris car race, incidentally, which is a fucking good one, if you’re in need of podcast-ery or are into the whole Wacky Races genre...)

And then other comedy people played James Joyce (reading primarily from his letters to his wife, which as you may know are absolute fucking filth, the filthiest shit, genuinely uncomfortable to hear read out loud even at a comedy show filth)(in particular, his letter of the 8th of December, 1909-- jump out of your skin you’re a skeleton now filth), and then Jane Austen and Emily Dickinson both had some solid bits, got some big laughs.

I hadn’t seen some live comedy in a while so it was a good show to dip my toe back in there. Or just seeing Campbell and Adomian killing that hard at a fucking “pay what you can” show-- it’s just how crazy good this city is with comedy, if you make an effort to track some down... I don’t know. I’d missed seeing stuff... I’d gone too long. I felt pretty dumb afterwards on that point-- just haven’t been making an effort there lately even though I’m surrounded by stuff of that quality that’s, like, technically-free...??? Dumb. I live dumb.

Documentary (1): 1. Just the Apu documentary. I’m glad I saw it, just to get a sense of how far off people were who were screaming about it, but I don’t know if I’d recommend it to anyone, either-- it’s really strange to me that this became a thing with people who aren’t Indian. And then the time spent watching the angry people yelling at what they imagine this documentary might be saying (but isn’t)-- it’s that thing about the internet that... It’s happened to me and easy bet that I’ve done it to other people, it’s happened to everyone who’s done the thing with any skill, which is ... It doesn’t matter what you’ve said. People are just going to argue against what they want you to have said, and what they want you to have said is the thing that’s easiest for them to argue you about and feel like they’ve won. I don’t know. People are bummers! Matt Groening’s a bummer!

Movies (4): 2/4. God, I just saw Avengers and Black Panther. Ugh. Glad I tracked that!!! Glad I built a whole system to just track that was what my life was for an entire month.

I saw that Avengers twice-- just to be sociable with friends I don’t get to see often. People wanted to see that Avengers movie-- what can I do? It’s just... I just felt nothing both times. It’s just not satisfying to me as a movie.

The obvious comparison is to Empire Strikes Back, but ... and maybe this is just me excusing the flaws in Empire because that movie got at me when I was young, but I think that Empire functions as a movie more than this one does. Luke loses in Empire and Han losing in Empire is meaningful for reasons that are actually contained within the movie, at least, which I don’t think is true of the Avengers movie-- who wins and who loses feels weightless in this one. But.

Second time through, I still laughed the hardest at the shot where Jar Jar Brolin is crying because he’s sad he has to do murder...? No one else in the theater laughs at that part besides me, but it’s goddamn hilarious-- people are watching a Jar Jar that was cut to look like Josh Brolin cry!

My favorite part is the 5 second long Saving Private Ryan bit where they go inside the monster spaceship as the doors start opening and the monsters start crawling over each other to get out and attack people I think that’s a dope 5 seconds.

Nothing I needed to see again, but you know, I liked the folks who invited me the second time around, so. It gets harder to see some folks, as time goes by and all, so it’s nice that these big movies create an excuse, at least.

Highlighter Video (1): 0. Listening to podcasts but haven’t heard anything I’ve been that moved by to chop up.

Write Script (1): 0, but a lot of prep work this month, getting closer to figuring out what I want to be working on.

Part of me wants to get a new comics project going -- I’m thinking this summer might be less stressful than I was afraid of, but this game is going to take forever and a day, best case scenario, just to build all the sets.

But, god, what a time to even want to think about being in that world...? Can you imagine a bigger GET OUT sign than the one comics is hanging on itself right now? I want to shove my head in that fucking nest and see what kind of scabies try to crawl under my skin...? Fuuuuuck that.

I mean, it’s one thing to do a comic and have to hunker down with “no one’s going to care, just go ahead and fart, no one’ll be around to smell it” like with the other stuff I’ve done, and another thing entirely to even have to worry for a heartbeat about having to be like “oh, hyperspeed-dumb maggots might care and have words for me for being near comics while brown.”

But I mean, I’m not painting a target on myself by being on twitter, so all that message board drama might miss me for that. I mean, I don’t want to victim blame buuuuuuuut man, comics folks knew what was up with fucking unmoderated message boards back when pretty fast and then that became, like, forgotten lore...??? I mean, I get that people signed up for an unmoderated message board with their real names because they were there to promote shit, drum up that patreon kickstarter whatever money, so you can’t victim blame too much, but... I just don’t think you can figure there’s much surprise to that getting ugly, is all...

Revisiting the older problem with comics projects right now though-- lack of information. Anytime I sketch out plans, I try to google up basic info about sales numbers, or what I could expect if I tried this or that idea-- and there’s just very, very little solid info to be found. I know people who I could ask, but that’s not really the point, you know? (Also: I’m shy!) I find that very frustrating, especially after spending times looking at games, where people are very into sharing info and post mortems and research tools and all that shit.

Anyways, blah blah blah, I did nothing cause I like talking about it more than being about it, episode 9 billion and five. These charts is taking a bite out of your boy this month!!!

Q1 Goals:

I finally did a Yoga class that my gym offers, after way more than a decade of wanting to try a yoga class. (I’d set up going with other people so many times and having it fall through... And googling and then not going and... It was a whole thing).

It turns out there are different kinds of yoga, and none of them are tai chi, which is always what I thought yoga was, all chill and pose-y. I took the “end up on a mat wheezing and legit worrying that my heart was going to explode right then and there” hyper-intense kind of yoga...? I seriously thought at one point that I was going to physically die.

Not really what I was aiming to experience for the last decade plus. My plan is to try again after the training’s sunk in more and I’ll have less “heart-is-going-to-explodo” anxiety. But... I just thought I was going to get to look at girls...??? Which I did-- I got to look at girls; but I looked at them because I was like “I hope that girl standing on her head whose body be banging also knows CPR when my heart explodes and that she cool when blood sprays out my damn ass like in a Lone Wolf & Cub scat video.” That wasn’t my fantasy! That wasn’t my fantasy!

I’d heard about it but I still wasn’t ready at the end when all white people yelled Namaste at each other. But I was less ready to hear that the dopey schmoe who did that comic where all the DC Characters raped each other just got done with a Gandhi biography comic-- some superhero rape comic dude is going to teach the kids about Bapu... But you know, white people love us, so what are you going to do? (Ladies)(uh, specifically, ladies who know CPR and don’t mind butt-blood..)

Highlights:

Cutting out personal or family stuff, for the most part…

I just have John Mulaney on SNL, Cunk on Britain, Parker Posey on Lost in Space (rest of the show is bleeeeeeeeh, though; Posey’s fun), and a line from Riverdale (”Goodbye Chic”) written down! Just TV stuff. I didn’t mention Barry or Killing Eve or Atlanta or that Joel McHale Show but I’m watching those, too...

So... that was my highlight...? I watched some TV. (*Begins crying*)

Nah, it was just too much was going on in the rest of my life, this month. It just wasn’t that kind of month, sister-man. Lot of other stuff going on this month, it felt like, and just... not a chart kind of highlight month, I guess...

Overall: This has been a journey into embarrassment.

Ahhh, what, I was tagged in a post?! @hapless-fma-otaku my friend I love you! So I’ve been asked eleven questions yay!

1: What would you want your Animagus to be?

A Capybara! They’re the world’s largest rodent and they are just the cutest things! They’re pretty big compared to humans, like, the size of a very large dog, and they have very strong teeth. I love them because when a zoo takes in a bunch of orphaned animals they’ll give the poor little critters to the Capybaras to raise because Capybaras are the sweetest little beans and will mother any animal at the drop of a hat. So when you see pics of Capybaras just chilling in a group of other animals it’s probably because the Capybara’s their mama. I’d love to be a Capybara.

2: Favorite sweet treat?

My grandma’s chocolate cake. She uses the best recipe, there’s nothing like it.

3: Favorite space movie?

Yeah, I really like the new Star Wars movies. Sue me, the plot is interesting and the characterization is good and paired with great actors. I don’t see where all this hate is coming from.

4: What skill would you like to learn?

I’d love to learn to play an instrument, maybe guitar or piano. But since I have neither...puts me in an awkward position I’d say.

5: Dream House?

I’d love to live in a two bedroom apartment with hardwood flooring, purple, white, and black furniture and decorating, an ultramodern design, and a big kitchen. There’d have to be a glassed off balcony with a turf and a pet door so I could keep a small dog. Preferably somewhere with a nice view. (But that was probably more detail than was necessary.)

6: Favorite animal?

I think you already know it’s a Capybara, followed very closely by dogs tho.

7: Do you like dinosaur chicken nuggets?

I’m sorry honey, I know you love these but I’ve got to say no. They just don’t taste like real meat. I’m hanging my head in shame I promise.

8: Favorite ice creams flavor?

Man, it teeters between cookie dough and gold ribbon chocolate from Baskin Robin, but I have to go with the latter.

9: What day of the week is significant to you especially?

Sunday is really important to me because it’s my sabbath, so it’s a day where I have a very strict schedule and I have a loooong chance to reflect on my spirituality. It’s just always felt like a very important day.

10: What song do you absolutely loathe hearing?

My sister loves to put on songs that are otherwise good but are covered by singers with literally zero talent and horrible sound quality on their mics. Man it grates on my nerves.

11: Any books that have a special significance to you?

Ok, this is going to be a very long answer so feel free to skip if you’d like, otherwise, buckle up. My favorite book series in existence is Artemis Fowl. It’s special to me for two main reasons, so, here we go.

One, these books saved my from suicide. I was just starting middle school when my grandma introduced me to these books, which is not a good time for anyone. I was just starting to feel those body image issues everyone develops around that time, I was stressed trying to figure out what the hell I wanted to do with my life, I felt responsible for my parents and younger siblings and I was afraid of the bigger work load from multiple classes and how that might effect how much I could help around the house anymore, I had just switched from the first public school I’d ever been to, to a year of online school, to this new high-standards charter school and I had no clue what to expect, I was...drowning, and I needed a constant. I’d always loved reading and the word Artemis Fowl provided to me became that constant in my life, no matter what changed, I could go back to those stories and find something that would stay the same, something reliable. And I really related to Artemis. He was taking care of his parents the way I felt I had to, he was questioning his skills in a new environment way out of his depth like I was at my new school, and he was beginning to realize the world wasn’t exactly the way he thought it was, and that he might be making the world worse, I’ll get to how that applies to me in a minute. It got to the point that Artemis became my new best friend and guide, I’d imagine him with me, like the older brother I never had, to support me when things got rough, be it a joke about how little my teachers must really understand this subject during a class I just wasn’t getting or emotional support when I felt like I was failing my family. Even if he wasn’t really there or even real at all, I felt like he was someone I could go to with my problems, someone who understood. And, when I started experiencing suicidal thoughts for the first time, I’d think about Artemis. He had been through so much more than I could ever possibly comprehend, he’d known the struggles I was going through and then some, and he’d managed to save the world at least five times. So, if Artemis could go through all that, could survive all that, there was no reason I couldn’t fight my battles. I survived middle school, and when my dad moved us half way across the country, from Idaho to Texas, the Artemis Fowl books continued to be that constant. Everything around me was changing, but I was always guaranteed my one friend, because Artemis was always with me.

And, two, Artemis Fowl taught me about racism. Remember when I mentioned feeling like I made the world a worse place, yeah well I’ll just put it out on the table for you, I’m white. And, while my generation was going to elementary school, schools were just barely starting to teach the truth in history classes. I loved going to school and absorbed as much information as I could, but a lot of what I learned reflected badly on people like me. The trail of tears, slavery and segregation, manifest destiny, Christopher Columbus, all the horrific things you learn about in history class that are entirely because a group of white people decided they were better than everyone else, I was glad I was trusted enough to learn the truth about these things, but I also started to see myself differently because of what I was learning. I was ashamed of myself and I started to hate myself because I was one of those people who had ruined the lives of millions of innocent people. My ancestors were nothing but a force of destruction. And it hurt, it scared me that all these terrible things had happened and there was nothing I could do about it. But, when I got older and I started reading the Artemis Fowl books, what I saw changed something. Artemis, who I saw as so similar to myself, was the antagonist of Holly’s story in the first book. Holly was a woman of color, a force for good throughout the story, the most compassionate person in the narrative, and in my opinion at that time, the best character in the book. That fit with my views of the world, a white man was objectively the bad guy and he was making life unnecessarily difficult for people of color around him who were objectively the good guys and treated others much better than he did. But as the book series went on, Artemis and Holly became friends, very good friends, and that changed things. Because no one would ever deny that Artemis hurt Holly, his actions had been terrible and we weren’t supposed to think any differently. But after a long time of healing, and working to make things better, and a lot of personal growth on Artemis’s part, he was able to be forgiven and form positive relationships with the people he had once hurt. And that taught me that I didn’t have to be the bad guy in someone else’s story, I could be a positive force as well. Moving to Texas helped quite a bit as well. When in Idaho you’d have maybe five students of color in three grades and an all white teaching staff, in Texas schools there is a much more balanced demographic and I’ve been able to make friends with a lot of people I just wouldn’t have had the chance to meet in Idaho. (And realize that they don’t automatically hate me, especially if I’ve never been an ass to them. They don’t care what great great great grandpa did at one point or another, people don’t hold that against you.) And I was able to have a much more positive outlook on myself and on my potential relationships with others.

Artemis Fowl saved my life and it’s had a much greater impact on me than I think any other form of media ever has. So yeah, that’s some special significance if I’ve ever heard of it.

I love so many things about Lay... hmm, if I were to choose just one thing that I really like I guess it would be his sincerity. I love how very candid he is with his feelings.

I have written a literal essay about what I like about Do Kyungsoo. Please follow the cut for my fangirl feels.

Ult bias... heh... I will try to keep this as concise as possible considering I can talk about how amazing and perfect he is all night.

My ultimate bias is Kyungsoo. Besides the obvious reasons as to why he's so amazing (from his beautiful, deep, baritone voice which is always so textured and full of emotions to his vulnerable, boundary-pushing, award-winning acting prowess, to his razor focus at perfecting any craft he puts his mind to - whether it's singing, acting, cooking, tap dancing, pronunciation of the English language, or putting on screen protectors!) the 3 qualities that I truly admire in him is his humble and respectful attitude towards everyone who comes in contact with him, his candidness, and his ability to flip it all on its head at the drop of a hat.

Kyungsoo has been praised by multiple people who have worked with him (co-actors and staff members alike) for his warm and caring personality. Whenever the other members are messing around too much, Kyungsoo who would scold them to focus so that the crew could rest or go home faster. When Chanyeol was stuck at home because he had hurt his vocal cords and couldn't sing or talk to anyone for I think nearly a month, Kyungsoo would often stop by and keep him company, sitting there in silence while playing games on his phone. He would show his love by cooking for the members, sending food trucks to member's individual project shoots, constantly asking the filming crew if they had eaten yet and that they should take a break. He’s even left to go and buy food for the staff members and brought it back for them, which is so rare in the industry! During concerts prep, he could often be seen helping staff members move sound equipment or asking if there was anything he could help with. That level of selflessness is so heartwarming to me. He never sees himself as a celebrity, being an insanely shy and reserved guy, he most likely dislikes the idea of "being a celebrity" so to see someone of his status/caliber be so down-to-earth it's an extremely attractive quality.

And yet, somehow, despite his rather laid back approach, Kyungsoo can often be so random in his own quirky way. I love that I know what to expect with him and yet never be bored watching him. He’s insanely caring and yet has a very strict moral code (see EXO Ladder S2 for all the “strict, rule following” Kyungsoo). He often comes off proper and polite but has moments where he would curse on national television (aka EXO Arcade) or say inappropriate or slightly perverted comments (multiple interviews and concert talks). He hates being called cute or adorable (from wearing cutesy hats to doing “aegyo”) and yet, without trying at all, he is often the squishiest human in existence. He has this amazing ability to be so competent at such a variety of things (see list above) and yet when he fails, he fails spectacularly as well. I love that duality about him - it makes him feel multifaceted and relatable AF.

*sigh* There are so many other things that I can talk about (like how he proves that he’s a hopeless romantic when he was asked if he would choose ‘friendship’ or ‘love’, he candidly said ‘love’ without even hesitating. Or how he confessed about wanting to retire from the idol life and be a simple farmer, living off the land with his lovely wife and kids. Or how when EXO was asked what their ideal vacation destination would be, everyone wrote down an actual place and Kyungsoo just wrote, “I don’t care where we go as long as it’s together.” Or that he considers his two puppies his little sisters rather than pets in the family.) I honestly can go on and on and on but I’ll leave it off with a comment he said during an interview with JYP. The host asked him if he sees celebrity life as a good one or one that is uncomfortable? And perhaps the p.c. answer would have been something along the lines of positive experiences but instead Kyungsoo spoke from the heart and confessed that there are many things about the life that he’s uncomfortable with. That there were so many times that he was so tired of this lifestyle that he wanted to quit it all. I commend his resolve to not shy away from the truth and that candidness made me feel as though I can trust what I get with him: what you see is what you get. He’s not your ideal idol but that imperfection is what makes him so perfect and beautiful to me. Kyungsoo with forever be my penguin prince!

Too many tbh, DAMNIT SM BRING BACK LAY TO EXO!! Yes, all of his self produced albums are fucking amazing and he totally doesn’t need SM to prove that he is a world-class artist but I miss Lay touching EXO’s butts 🤣 I love their hangouts and interactions and I just need Lay to comeback and be with his brothers!! 😢

Do you remember the playlists I made for you for Valentine's day my seventh year? I burned them onto two CDs, and I've kept them. Those songs have, unknowingly, detailed our love story. Whether art mimics life or life mimics art, I'm not sure, but I thought I'd share a few lines and what they mean to me in relation to you.

Oasis, in their annoyingly stereotyped love song "Wonderwall," wrote, "You're gonna be the one that saves me." This was true time and time again, Gabe, for both of us. You saved me from myself, and I saved you from our worst nightmare. We're even now, so you better not run away and get yourself into danger again. I'll try not to do the same, but I make no promises.

Tom Petty's "Wildflowers" has always been one of my favorite songs. But that's only part of the reason I'm including it here. "You belong somewhere you feel free." I guess we've finally found that. "I've seen no other who compares with you. You belong among the wildflowers. You belong with your love on your arm. You belong somewhere you feel free." It's a song that, for me, will always be about you. For a long, long while, I didn't think I was what you deserved or needed or even wanted. I thought you were misleading yourself. But you weren't. Just like Tom Petty advised, you let your heart be your guide. And it landed us here, where you're now stuck with me for forever. Because even though Jesper is going to say "'til death do they part," we both know that even death can't keep us apart. Goodness knows it's tried.

We always find our way back to each other. Scar says we're soulmates, and at this point I think I believe her. We've beaten death, monsters we never could have imagined, and terrible trials that we both wish we hadn't faced. But we're here, and we're choosing to be happy. We're choosing to be together, because even tho Life hasn't given us much of a choice about that in the past, we can't tell the future.

My favorite love song always has been and always will be The Fray's "Look After You." I don't know why, I don't know how, but that song will always be ours. Sure, it wasn't written for us, but it's ours. I'll look after you, Gabe, just like I've been trying to for years. And I know that you will always, always look after me. In the uncertainty and instability that fill our lives, that has always been a truth I can cling to. I've always known, even if sometimes I didn't realize it or want it, that you will look after me. You've saved me from myself. You've saved me from everybody else. You've saved me, Gabe, when even Scar didn't think I could be saved. You've never lost faith, never lost love, and that makes me, the ice queen, want to cry with joy and relief. Because I know you'll never leave me or let me leave. So yes, be my baby, and don't you dare ever stop. Because I'm never leaving you.

In case you haven't gathered, I love you, Gabe, more than I ever thought I could ever love anyone or anything. We've been through Hell and we came out smiling. Mostly. i love this zelda like i'm super not crazy about her voice actress sounding much older than i think of her as, and the fantasy british accent, but she has so much more personality than many of the others

ah, and i see now why she loved the silent proncess so...can't be grown domestically, only thrives in the wild

i think it's super clever how even with a map you still have to look around for shrines bc they are hidden semi-underground
