outlaw!eddie has my heart already 😩💕
ah yes, my love. outlaw!eddie....
Hellfire has menaced the town of Hawkinsville for as long as anyone can remember. Clothed all in black, faces painted fiery red, they ride in led by the devil himself and make off with the spoils of their terror. No business is safe, least of all the ones owned by the Carver family, the closest equivalent to oil magnates a quaint town like Hawkinsville could have.
R is betrothed to eligible bachelor Jason Carver, who'd had his eye on her, it seems, ever since she stepped foot off that train as Hawkinsville's newest schoolteacher. She's quite the envy of the town and is beyond delighted to receive Jason's offer. Though they've only been courting for two months, he's been a perfectly respectable gentleman and quite the charmer.
It's just such bad luck that R had to be in just the wrong place at the wrong time so as to run into the Devil of Hellfire in the midst of a raid. And most certainly terrible, awful, rotten luck that he'd had to make the snap decision to take her with him.
Ed Munson is kicking himself now, but when he discovers she's set to be Jason Carver's little wife? Well, now... this might be his biggest bounty yet.

Union Army Capture of the Confederate Steamer, Gov. Milton
Tumblr media
According to historian Lewis Schmidt, the small force of the Saint Johns Bluff expedition steamed upriver roughly 100 to 200 miles “to Lake Beresford, where they then assisted in capturing the [68-ton] steamer Governor Milton,” which had been renamed in honor of Florida’s governor after having been “formerly known as the George M. Bird [under its previous owners] a New England family named ‘Swift’, who were timber cutters and used it as a tug boat to tow rafts loaded with live oak to the lumber market.”
Corporal Nichols of E Company went on to describe the capture as follows:
“At 9 PM … October 7, discovered the steamer Gov. Milton in a small creek, 2 miles above Hawkinsville; boarded her in a small boat, and found that she had been run in there but a short time before, as her fires were not yet out. Her engineer and mate, then in charge, were asleep on board at the time of her capture. They informed us that owing to the weakness of the steamer’s boiler we found her where we did. We returned our prize the next day....”

A Husband in Truth
read it on the AO3 at https://ift.tt/RuU0jEr
by megmeg654
The year was 1941 when Ben Solo was finally released from prison for a crime he didn't commit. Ben left the jail that sat in the middle of rural Georgia- and walked. Until finally he arrived in a small town called Hawkinsville, and read the local paper. The ‘Help Wanted’ section was currently not advertising any forms of employment, and Ben’s hungry belly sunk like it was full of lead- until he spotted something quite unusual: Wanted-- A Husband Need healthy man of any age willing to work a spread and share the place. See R. Wexley, top of Honey Run. ~ Rachel ‘Rey’ Wexley married the first man that asked for her hand the moment she aged out of the orphanage- she didn't care who it was, so long as they took her away from Unkar Plutt. So she sold her body to a man called Snap Wexley- and now here she was again, looking to sell herself to a new husband. With two kids and another on the way- Rey couldn't take care of the farm on her own, now that Snap had died and left her widowed. When a man she had never seen before came walking down her road- ready to answer the prayer Rey never knew she had longed for. A Husband in Truth.

i Am the Pig Man!
Who can resist a circus-related ghost? Hawkinsville has Pig Man's Bridge, named for a old circus hand who trained pigs to perform stunts. When he grew too old for the traveling big top, the man settled beneath the span with his porkers penned on the hillside. Legend says the man abused his animals, and they turned on their master, killing and probably eating him before making good their escape. The freaky carny now haunts the area, and naturally he has the face of a pig!

Just writing and wondering,
Rest under the read more
(CW: mention of a person's passing)
You've been gone 12 years
I think the 12th or 13th of this month would make it to the day
Whatever day it was that was a Wednesday near the beginning of February in 2012
(or is it 13 years? Or is it 11? I don't know)
Your story ended
No more to it
I wonder how often my sisters and nieces and nephews think of you, if my mom thinks about you or if your sisters do
How many people will keep your story alive?
You weren't extraordinary
Just a man who lived his life how he could
Who left his hometown in search of a better life
(and doesn't that sound familiar)
Who had love
And heartache
Who made friends and mistakes
Who got to see some amazing things
(like when you were flown out to California to sail a shrimp boat back to Georgia)
(and the time after that when your boss took you with him to South America)
I spent so much time with you
And yet there was so much I didn't know and never asked
How is a kid supposed to know what to ask to remember you by?
Mom told me about your mom and your dad
And what they meant to you
How much your mom meant to you because of how your dad was
And how he died when you were so young
But I don't know anything about what it was like to grow up in Eastman Georgia
I know that every summer was hot and dry because I spent some of those days there
And fall nights were crisp and cool and you can see the stars brighter than anything else in Hawkinsville
I wonder if you went to rivers like I do to sit
I wonder if you sat until everything went quiet around you
I wonder what it was like the day you decided to leave and look for a new life
I wonder what brought you to the coast
You liked fishing but I never asked if you liked hunting
I wonder what it was like for you to grow up with three sisters and one mom to support you all
I don't know
I lost my train of thought with this,
So much regret and things I'll never be able to ask you
Love you
And I hope if someone reads this then maybe they know something of you now
And maybe your story lives a little longer
