This week, I am working to complete the Holiday’s Resource Listing for CSR Minneapolis.  That is the demographic for Hennepin, Carver, and Scott counties.

I am also needing to record and post about bearing witness to my experiences at Higher Ground Shelter.  As I post this, there is at least a couple of incidences that need to air out... as the saying goes.  But, every day is a challenge to balance simply taking care of myself in this whole process, bearing witness to what I/we are going through, in the shelter system.  And, getting more things developed regarding the CSR Direct Project.

Due to racism, Black, Indigenous and People of Color in Hennepin County statistically have poorer educational outcomes, earn less, and are less likely to own homes or have access to quality health care and jobs than white people. These disparities have lifelong impacts, including higher disease rates, and, as we’re seeing now, higher rates of COVID-19. Declaring racism a public health crisis will lift up our work of developing strategies that mitigate personal bias and prejudice in our community, create systems that build equity, and reach our vision of a future where all residents are healthy and successful and all communities thrive. Hennepin County is not the first to declare racism as a public health crisis, and we will not be the last. There is a worldwide movement for equity.
