"Get away from. Him Azula" Zuko said while standing between his sistet and Aang
"Aw, do you really think you can capture him first Zuzu" she mocked
"No" he narrowed his eyes at her but turned his head to the right just a bit to see that Aang looked exhausted, of course he was. He was tracking his sister while her Mai and Ty Lee terrorized the group. He sent Jee and Iroh after the others to make sure they were safe while he want after Azula
She gave a huffed laugh "come on Zuko, why turn against fathers orders now? You could still get his love back yo-"
"Has it ever occurred to you that I've realized he never loved me in the first place?" He growled out "do you honestly think that two and a half years at sea wouldn't open my mind to the reality that a family isn't supposed to burn half your face off?"
"Come on Zuko, you know you deserved it, he had to teach you a lesson-"
"Shut up!" He fired a blast that she easily lept over and the chase was on once again, Azula chasing Aang and Zuko trying to stop her.
When she almost had a grip on Aang, Zuko picked up a large rock and chucked it at her managing to hit her in the wrist and send her spinning to an alley. She turned to glare at him while clutching her wrist while Aang managed to hide behind Zuko like he was Aang'solder brother or something "so your aim has gotten better I see, mommy's little assassin"
He held tight to a wooden plank he managed to grab as well and glared daggers back at her "no, youre just an actual target now"
"Is that so" she took a stance and went to fire a blast but was launched away by a block of earth under her feet revealing Toph, Katara, Sokka, Iroh and Jee.
"Toph!" Aang shouted and Zuko managed to relax just a bit
"Hey twinkle toes, we figured you guys could use some help with crazy over here" Toph jabbed her thumb in the general direction of Azula
"She's not crazy, she's just stuck and stubborn" Zuko pointed out
"Two very bad traits that lead to crazy Zuko" Aang said while elbowing the older teen in the side.
[Not a scene shift but a pov shift from Zuko to Sokka]
The group circled around Azula with their weapons at the ready and Sokka glared at this girl they had cornered, the way she looked mockingly at Zuko and the look Aang was giving him told him everything he needed to know. This girl had hurt Zuko in some way or maybe many ways.
Perhaps she's part of the reason they share so many scars. Regardless he knew she was a threat. "Alright, you got me" Sokka narrowed bis eyes, she was lying. "I know when I'm beat" she turned her back to them and started to kneel but shot a blast, at Zuko's Uncle. The expression that twisted Zuko's face was heartbreaking, it was as if Iroh was the only thing he had to hold onto and it was just ripped from him in an instant.
Filled with an almost unimaginable amount of rage Sokka threw his boomerang at Azula mere seconds before the rest laid on the bending and Azula disappeared
[And now we shift back to Zuko because I said so]
As soon as Azula was out of sight Zuko was at Iroh's side, he leaned his head down and pressed his ear to Iroh's chest listening for a heartbeat. After hearing one but noticing it was weak he let out a breath he didnt notice he was holding. Though the moment of slight relief didn't last long. He should have protected his Uncle, he's younger and faster, besides its him and Aang that Azula has quarrel with not Iroh.
Iroh was the only family he had left and now he might lose him too. All because he couldnt protect him. He felt his palms growing hot, like they were about to burst into flames so he clenched them in an attempt to suppress the fire. Jee sat beside him with a look of both fear and sympathy on his face.
"Zuko" he heard Katara softly call out behind him
"Leave us!" Zuko cried out over his shoulder
"Zuko I can help!"
"I said Leave!" He went to swing his arm back and release the flames begging to escape but Jee caught his hand halfway there and gave him a hard glare. Zuko stared at him with confusion but then his gaze shifted over to see Sokka staring at him with tear filled eyes and his heart sank.
He gave a sigh and Jee let go of his hand. "Oh... okay" he said in a soft voice before moving to let Katara take a spot beside Iroh so she could heal him. "Just... dont hurt him please" he whispered
"I would never" Katara reassured as Zuko watched her closely. He watched mesmerized by the glow in the water around her hands, he didnt even realize Sokka had moved beside him until he heard the dirt beside him scatter from the slump Sokka did.
Turning to Sokka he found himself pulled into a half hug and stiffened, he wanted to cry but didn't want to let himself until Sokka reached up and played with his hair as a comfort touch. It was like the floodgates opened, he held onto Sokka holding back sound but letting his tears flow with a few small whimpers.
It wasnt until three hours later when they were all huddled up in a small earth town inn that Zuko managed to bring himself to check on Iroh. He walked into the room and found Iroh sipping a cup of tea with Katara and Jee who all turned to him with smiles. "Zuko, how are you feeling?" Iroh asked with a grin
Zuko gave a snort and a stifled laugh that quickly devolved into a full belly laugh "me? How am I feeling?" He leaned against the wall with his hand and tried to catch his breath "you ask that like I was the one shot with a blast of blue fire!" He gave his uncle a grin "stop doting Uncle, its my turn for a while, okay?"
Iroh gave a hearty laugh and sigh "alright Prince Zuko, but I have one more question" he raised his brows with an unspoken question
"Oh no" Zuko slapped his face in a face palm motion, hearing a loud 'ouch!' From the other room
"Oh yes, that is the exact question" Iroh, Katara and Jee all snickered
"Not right now, they haven't even accepted us into the group, she's healing you and they might just up and leave us after that so Im not giving my hopes up"
"First of all mister gloomy!" Katara said while standing up and jabbing her finder into his chest "we have accepted you guys, and Second! You already have" she flicked his now very much out in the open blue ribbon tied around his forearm given his change of clothes into short sleeve earth kingdom clothes
Zuko flushed and turned away "thats.. uh... I have an explanation about that"
"I'd love to hear it" she put her hands on her hips and gave an expecting look.
"Uuuuhhhh... well you see... uhm..." he paused for a while and then just sighed while sagging his shoulders "okay fine I got it because Sokka's eyes are blue.... and really pretty...."
Katara clasped her hands together and inhaled with a big grin plastered across her face "Oh my gods thats so cute!"
"Shhh! Just... dont tell him okay? I know he doesn't like me so I'm just gonna wait for him to ask me to attempt to tell him okay?"
"Ugh! Fine!"
"Thank you" and with thst he snuck out of the room and back into the shared bedroom where Sokka and Aang were pressed against the wall. Shooting them a glare he made a 'tch' sound and walked out and sat outside the Inn on the small steps in front of the building.
Agni this day was a rollercoaster.

Alright so! Said I'd get a reference up for these nerds, gonna do that now. A basic reference, at least.
The three above- yes, only three- are, from left to right, Papyrus, Gaster and Sans- in that order for their bipedal forms, as well as their quadruped forms. They, uh... aren't actually capable of being both at the same time, this is just sort of for height reference- though it... isn't the best at that either, since Gaster's quadruped form is supposed to be taller- but hey, you get the gist of their appearance! Probably! Moving on, those wings you see on those quadruped forms are made of magic- specifically, the combined magic of all three of them- and can be summoned and desummoned at will, just like any other attack- though when summoned, it's easier to share magic between them- they can even... sort of use their powers for the other- so Sans can teleport the other two, Papyrus can heal, and... well, Gaster has yet to get a handle on his own speciality of magic, and. Might never, so that remains to be seen. But, as for the different forms thing, all three of them are shapeshifters- a kind of shapeshifter specific to their universe (as far as I know) that, usually, only have two forms; their usual, bipedal form, and a quadruped form; in which they can't naturally speak any normal, spoken language- without use of magic that takes a lot of practice to perfect. Instead they use a 'language' called... well, Shapeshifter- which I usually denotate by using >this sorta thing< rather than quotation marks. It's... basically a slighttly more complex version of animal body language and sounds; heck, actual animal body language is often known as basic Shapeshifter. It's possible to do it without any vocal sounds, but it's s little harder to be specific- and, generally, Shapeshifter can't carry an accent, or any specific way of speaking; it's always just a little bit interprative, though... usually not enough so to cause misinterpretation. Shapeshifter can... also be understood by Pokémon. Because this is a crossover. That's where the 'mystery' comes from.
Moving away from physical, and... most magical aspects- I can talk plenty about magic science later- let's get a bit more into the specifics of these characters. Let's start with Sans.
Mysterytale!Sans is much like the ocean, in that he is. Very salty. Granted, it's not entirely unwarrented; he has a lot to be salty about. Usually, the things he's salty about involve someone he knows getting hurt, something close to him being destroyed, that sort of thing. When he isn't being salty, he's... rather laid back, as most Sanses tend to be. He's somehow... allso manage to keep up to date on the latest memes. The current running theory is blame Alphys, but he hasn't directly told anyone yet; he's also, of course, proficient in puns. He isn't exactly opposed to an adventure, though- exploration, when it isn't obviously dangerous or some place he's seen a thousand times in different universes- it actually is exciting for him, and he tends to perk up quite a bit around Papyrus as well. Sans' quadruped form is, decidedly... pretty cat-like. And, as the behaviour of most quadrupeds are, I mean in an incredibly stereotypical way. He will knock things off shelves, stare at nothing, and if Mysterytale had a Sans fight you could defeat him with a lazer pointer. It's... slightly rediculous, and he's. A bit embarrassed about it. You probably won't catch him in quadruped form, alone, very often. He doesn't really get along with most canines outside of Papyrus, and... as of recently, other cats are. A little frightening. In terms of his relationship to the other two, he is. V e r y close to Papyrus, usually depending on him for moral support and sanity checks- as well as. Actually knowing how social situations work. His relationship with Gaster is... a bit more difficult. Sans cares about him quite a significant amount, but he... has a bit of a hard time thinking of Gaster as a dad. The fact that he's rescuing him every two weeks and has to stick around to make sure he doesn't cause property damage while experimenting does not help in this fact. Still, they can certainly talk science together, and they have 'pun wars' on occasion- which. Is just ghem talking back and forth in almost entirely puns. It's great.
Now, to Papyrus! ...I, uh. Gotta be honest, I'm still getting his personality down, but- he's pretty definitely the moral backbone of the three. He's a grand majority of the reason that the other two aren't a broken mess half the time, likely being the most optimistic out of the three. He truly does believr in everyone's ability to change, and it's not because he doesn't know or understand the things people have done. He often knows a lot more than he seems to- he's actually pretty darn good at reading expressions, and social situations in general, and though he isn't the most scientifically-geared, he is v e r y good at understanding people. Still, he hesitates to use this to his advantage in fear of hurting people, or damaging their trust, so he tends to keep most of this to himself. It definitely does help him take care of the other two, though; knowing what's troubling them, and when they aren't actually 'fine'. Which is... most of the time. Papyrus' quadruped form is decidedly canine- generally pretty vocal and not shy at all about it, happy to chase a stick and very willing to... at least attempt to be a lap dog. Thankfully, he doesn't chase bones, and gets along rather well with cats. As for his relationship to the others? As mentioned, he is the moral backbone of the group. He's comforted Sans more times than he can count, and it's always a little frightening for either of them to go exploring someplace without the other. He's also consoled Gaster quite a few times, but... both Sans and Papyrus know significantly less about him than they know about each other, which, at times, make that difficult. Papyrus has... a bit of an easier time seeing Gaster as a father, but... if he's honest, it's partially for Gaster's benefit.
And finally... Gaster. This nerd- this hecking nerd is the most developed character in this entire AU and I'm prrobably going to send him in alone in a grand majority of roleplays I do here because. I... I actually know how to write for him. But- yeah, first and foremost, he's a nerd. He studied magic for a rediculously long time, being one of the first to do so using a more scientific method- and he still does research on the subject when he has tge chance to. He doesn't even really need to, it's simply fun for him. Exploration is also fun, of course- and, ultimately? ...He wants to go to space. He really, really wants to go to space. He knows quite a lot about space, and space agencies, and all of his notes are littered with theoretical designs of a magic-based engine to be used in- yeah, you guessed it- a space shuttle. Though he... doesn't know nearly as much about constellations. He can certainly name a few good stars on sight, though. Of course, given all this research into magic, and a pretty significant knowledge of physics, the increasingly un-constant rules of physics and magic across the multiverse are endlessly frustrating. Especially universes that fail to recognize simple law of conservation of mass. Still, he's... plenty capable of getting over that simply because exploring the multiverse is now necisarry, even if he isn't really the most fond of it. He... doesn't really have the most self-confidence in anything but his knowledge of magic and physics- and space- and... usually isn't too concerned with getting himself hurt, especially if, in any way, it seems to be helping someone- to a rather dangerous degree. He's aware of the impact this has on the people close to him, though, so he does try at least a little bit not to get himself into too bad of trouble, but he... isn't really the best at it. He's also very... very aware of the relationships between many Sans', Papyrus' and their Gasters in other universe- as far as he's seen, most of them being... poor, to say the least. With that knowledge, he's pretty hesitant to so much as tell people his name, speak in Wingdings, or introduce himself in bipedal form, for fear of bringing up unwanted memories. He... has done many things he regrets rather heavily, and if you get to know him enough, it... shows pretty quickly. He probably needs a hug. Like basically everyone in his universe. Moving on yo his quadruped form, though, it's... losely based off of a dragon...? His universe doesn't have a whole lot of stereotypes for dragons, but he is pretty easily distracted by shiny things and tends to rumble-growl a lot. His relationship with Sans and Papyrus is... well, as previously described, but- he is incredibly protective of the both of them, keeping a lot of his problems to himself and generally not letting strangers know they even exist for fear of tgem being used just to get to him. He's... told people that they've died on multiple occasions, and hurting them in any significant ways is one of the very, very few ways to get him actually, significantly mad at you. The other being another version of him or a flowey, though redemption is certainly possible. He just has yet to see thst more than once or twice. He... most definitely does depend heavily on both of the other two for moral support, though- even if he does still refuse to actually explain what's wrong, just being together... seems to help all three of them. He views them, as well as many other members of his universe as family- even if Sans and Papyrus are... really the only ones he regularly talks to, and... for many reasons, he feels like he owes them- both his universe, and the two specifically. He... he really isn't doing too great, but it's not something he always thinks about, and he has plenty of things he can be happy about- just. Exploring the multiverse can often be a bit... stressful, and he doesn't give himself a whole lot of recovery time...
But! Beyond that, there's a whole heckton of backstory, magic shenanigans and such that- for now- I'll keep secret, just to... hopefully make things interesting. But! Have a few extra tidbits!
All of them are... a little uncomfortable around soup, Sans especially
Flirting is Gaster's greatest weakness. He cannot comprehend it.
The Exploration Team that, for convenience sake, now includes... basically their entire universe is called Team Determination.
They use a hybrid between Pocket dimensions and the Treasure bag to have a basically infinite storage space shared between the entire universe, accessable by inventory.
This inventory contains an entire page of 99 stacks of Gravelrocks.
They sometimes use this inventory space to send written messages to eachother.
They use the badges' rescue system as a form of transportation, though they're still working on getting it to bring people to specific locations rather than some random place in the 'dungeon'
Gaster owns a model of the Columbia space shuttle, as well as a turtleneck he will never wear
Strong violet magic, in Mysterytale, is kind of terrifying
None of the three are likely to relax in a flower garden
Gaster has gone to the void twice, and has 0 LV. He is terrified of gaining more, and will take drastic measures to avoid this.
No one in Mysterytale is capable of swearing.
Gaster has a third form, mimicking a monster from his universe known as a Dracfin- semi-aquatic, furred quadrupeds that shapeshift slightly based off of whether they're submerged in water or not, playing off of the way water bends light. They are carnivores. Have a picture of said form- his appearance on land on the left, and his appearance in water on the right. Ignore the fact that both are pictured underwater, I got a little lazy with the background.
Tumblr media
Every monster in Mysterytale has a sort of Multiversal camoflauge- which simply means that when they enter a new universe, if the rules of that universe don't allow for Monsters and their magic to exist- say, in a universe without latent magic- they change into the next closest form that obeys that universe's rules, whatever they may be. So, for the most prominent example, if a monster from Mysterytale entered a pokemon universe, they would almost definitely become a pokémon- one that already exists in that universe. So, in all likelyhood...
Tumblr media
Gaster would become a Noivern- to be specific, a noivern with the telepathy ability, and Boomburst, Air Slash, Dragon Pulse and Roost
Papyrus would be a lucario- already mega evolved if allowed, but... otherwise just a normal Lucario with the Inner Focus ability, and Bone Rush, Aura Sphere, Heal Pulse and Copycat as moves
And Sans, finally, would be an Alolan Marowak- Cursed Body as an ability, and Bonemarang, Shadow Bone, Bone Rush and Flamethrower as moves; or... just a normal, non-alolan Marowak, depending on whether or not the universe in question actually. Y'know, has an Alola.
...Have some pictures!
They'll actually register as these Pokemon if scanned with a Pokedex, even when they aren't Pokemon. Again... crossover.
...but, uh. Yeah, anything else you want to know, go ahead and ask. We'll see if I can figure out how asks work. You can probably ask the characrers things, too, and I'll give you an in-character response that might spiral into an entire non-cannon au because that's how those things seem to work for whatever reason.
...also, uh. Let's... let's keep this sfw, mkay? mkay. Like you can swear at them and whatever but. Probably not much beyond flirting, aight?

Conversation
Meeting Each other Anderperry Fem AU (Tara)
Tara sat silently listening to the distant chatter of the room. Everyone seemed to be excited, and Tara couldn’t figure out why. The place was so stuffy with a bunch of old ladies with reminders posted everywhere thst no devices were allowed during the school year. She looked at the faces of the younger girls moving to the older girls. It was like a timeline of what they’d become. From hopeful young children to exhausted lifeless young adults. Tara sighed and her parents nudged her.
“Sit up striaght,” her mother scolded. “We never had this problem with your sister.” She said adjusting Taras hair.
Tara yanked herself away from her mother’s cold touch and stared at her feet. Tears welled in her eyes but she refused to let them fall. Ever since she was born she had to hear about her sister. How Tara was a cute kid but not as cute as Jessie. Or how she made good grades but Jessie always made the honor roll. “Tara you’re not good enough. You need to be more like your sister. Why can’t you be like Jessie” rang in her ears everyday and everyday she feared failing to do so.
She was yanked out of her thoughts by the obnoxious bagpipes the school insisted on playing because it was “Tradition.” Everyone’s heads turned to watch the girls walking in. Following the bagpiper and someone from the staff holding a candle, were four girls holding large banners.
The first one “Tradition” held by a dull redhead. “Honor” held by a tired looking brunette. “Discipline” held by a lively looking girl who had to dye her hair back to a natural color for school (her roots were purple). However, the one who caught Taras attention was the girl holding the “Excellence” banner. She looked tall from where Tara was sitting but she figured that she’s have a few inches on her. Her jaw was set like she was trying to put on a face for the crowd. After she passed, Tara zoned out, wondering how her year would go.
Mrs. Nolan said something and Taras parents nudged her to stand.
“…discipline, excellence.” The voices rang out. Tara sat back down. “You should know this,” her mother hissed viciously.
The ceremony ended and they were dismissed into the courtyard. They stopped in front of Mrs. Nolan. “You have some big shoes to fill Mrs. Anderson.” God could everyone stop reminding her?
“Yes Ma'am,” she stuttered barely audible. Her mom’s grip tightened around her wrist. “Stop that awful stuttering and speak up. You’re embarrassing us.”
“S-sorry dad.” Taras father rolled his eyes.
Taras parents chatted with someone else, leaving her off to the side. She was lost and confused. She wanted to cry. Until:
“Hey! I heard we’re going to roommates!” Tara turned to see who was speaking, as it seemed to be directed to her. It was the Excellence banner girl. Tara was right, she had a few inches on her. “I’m Neilia Perry,” she said reaching her hand out. Tara took it.
“Tara Anderson.” Neilia let go, and Tara longed to touch her hand again for some reason.
“Oh so you’re that Anderson.” Tara nodded her head. The “that” didn’t seem disgusted and Tara was relieved.
___________________________________________
Tara hardly said goodbye to her parents and followed Neilia up to their room. She lagged behind a little though. By the time she got to the door, the dull redhead was standing at the door.
“Hey! Heard you got the new chick. She looks like a stiff! Ha!” She turned and was face to face with Tara. “Oops,” she chuckles before heading back to her room across the hall.
Neilia turned to her beaming. “Listen don’t mind miss Rita Cameron. She was born with her foot in her mouth.” She lightly punched Taras arm sending a buzz of electricity through her. She began to unpack. Despite the activity, she didn’t look up.
“Rumor has it, you did summer school.” A voice Tara didn’t recognize.
“Yep my father and mother,” Neilia said the words father and mother with disgust Tara understood, “thought I should get ahead.” Multiple people scoffed. “How was your summer slick?”
“Keen. Meeks. Door. Closed.”
“Yes sir,” came a higher voice.
“Ladies, what are the four pillars?” Someone asked, mocking Nolan.
“Travesty, horror, decadence, excrement.”
Talk of study groups began. “Cameron wanted to join is that okay?” Neilia asked the others.
“What’s her speciality? Ass kissing?”
“She’s your roomate.”
“That’s not my fualt!”
“Oh I’m sorry, my name is Stephanie Meeks.” Tara looked up for the first time and saw a redhead with curly hair, glasses and freckles. The epitome of a nerd. They shook hands.
“Charlie Dalton.” Charlie was stretched out on Neilias bed and was wearing pants instead of the school designated skirts.
“Hi, I’m Knox Overstreet.” It was the lively girl carrying the Discipline banner.
“Taras sister was Jessie Anderson,” Neilia casually mentioned.
Oh sure sure.”
“Yea valedictorian.”
Tara was glad for this response. None of the girls seemed to care too much about who she was related to.
“Welcome to Hell-ton. Let’s hope you’re tough unless you’re a genius like Meeks.” Charlie said with a wink.
“They flatter me, that’s why I help them with latten.” Meeks responded.
“I have something for you guys.” Charlie dug. Into their pockets. “Each of you take a phone. You too Tara. There’s enough to go around. My parents think that materials mean love.”
A knock at the door startled all of the girls and they quickly put away their devices. “It’s open!” Neilia called out. The door opened and a middle aged man and woman stepped into the room.
“Mr. and Mrs. Perry,” Knox said. She stood and the others followed.
“Keep your seats ladies,” Tara didn’t like the way Mr. Perry spoke.
“Mother, Father.” Neilia’s face fell. “I thought you left.”
“I spoke with Mrs. Nolan and I think you’re taking too many extracurriculars. I want you to drop art.”
“But I can’t. I’m the mentor.”
“I’m sorry,” he said not sounding sorry at all.
“But I can’t! It’s not fair to-”
“Ladies!” He yelled silencing Neilia. “Excuse us please.” Tara met Neilia’s eyes and read her in an instant. Underneath everything, she was just child, trapped. Neilia hesitantly walked out the door. The room was silent as Tara unpacked. She took out a family photo of her family, parents arms around her sister and Tara off to the side. She put it in the drawer of her desk.
The sound of a fist pounding the wall made everyone jump, and Charlie stood up and started towards the door. The others followed. For a few minutes Tara was left alone to ponder.
“Study group! Later.”
“Right. Tara, you’re welcome to join us.”
“Yeah, come along.” Neilia smiled at her.
“Th-thanks.” Tara stuttered. With a great sigh Neilia sat down on the A.C. unit by the window.
“So, what do you think of my parents,” Neilia asked trying to hide her anger with a joke. Truth is, even though Tara hardly knew her, she could read her easily.
“You don’t want to know,” Tara attempted to say. But nothing came out.
“Tara, you gotta learn to speak up if you wanna make it here. The meek may inherit the world but they don’t get into Harvard.”
Tara watched as Neilia pulled her achievement pins from her blazer and hurled them across the room, her dark eyes filling with tears
