Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Charmers
Charmers are a fan favorite archetype, loved my thousands of players. I count myself among them! However, there is one thing about them that, up until very recently in the history of Yugioh, that most Charmer fans can agree on: we really just like the artwork. Cute, elemental mage girls and their animal buddies is, no pun intended, a very charming theme, and the excellent art style further helps their appeal. However, the cards themselves struggle to accomplish much; needing to keep these weak monsters alive to maintain control of the stolen monster is difficult, and this is made worse when you consider that the opponent needs a monster of your given attribute to steal in the first place. To maximize our odds of getting SOMETHING off, we play two of each of the six Charmers, along with DNA Transplant. To further our odds of survival, we play three Pyramid Turtle, plus a Patrician of Darkness and a Spirit Reaper, I.e. the classic Zombie stall core. Partician, especially paired with Reaper, can keep our Charmers safe until it's time to try to nab something from the opponent's board. This is probably one of the weakest decks I've uploaded, but Charmers are still one of my favorites, so I wanted to make sure they were represented!

Vidya dragged Neo, who was dragging what was hopefully not a corpse, to an inconspicuous storefront, where she rapidly knocked on the door five times in succession. When nothing happened, she began knocking harder and faster while leaning on the door. The door then opened, and she began to fall, righting herself with a burst of fire.
“Hi Vidya”. the speaker was a young girl with light blue hair.
“Hi Eria. I need to talk to Mahad. Urgently.”
“does that have anything to do with the corpse?” another young girl, this one with unkempt red hair had appeared.
“Yes. But it’s not a corpse. Proably.”
“I can bring you to him.” yet another child had appeared, this one being a dark-haired boy who looked very slightly older than the others.
“Thanks Dharc. Thanks a lot.” Dharc nodded and gestured for the two to follow them.
Dharc led them up through what appeared to be a small cafe, where a young man with hair dyed purple served drinks in clay novelty mugs. A small girl stood beside him and tugged on the leg of his jeans as they noticed people approaching. “Just a second Lyn,” the man said, “I’m in the middle of serving a customer.” The man finished talking with the customer, a large man covered in red hair. then turned to the direction the young child had been pointing. “Oh, hey Vidya. Hey... stranger who seems to have carried a corpse into my house.”
“it’s not a corpse. probably” Vidya quickly replied”
“Ok then. I’m guessing you want my help? yeah, follow me into the back. Aussa, switch the sign to the ‘no barista on duty’ side.”
The man, who Vidya introduced as Mahad, led the two into a room in the back of the shop. They were followed by Aussa, and the redheaded girl who had introduced herself as Hiita. “we wanna see our big brother do magic!” Hiita had explained.
“Lay the not corpse on the table. You, with the lettermen jacket, go watch the shop. And the kids. If any of the kids get hurt I’m casting a pox on your house.”
“don’t worry, I’ll take care of them.” Neo did a little salute, then walked back out to the front of the shop to watch the shop and children.
“Huh. Looks like you’re right. not a corpse. Dang close to it though. Looks like a homunculus that got most of the energy drained out of it, almost down to it’s core. Should be able to fix it pretty easily with Osiris’ lightning”
“Put it on my tab. Speaking of.” Vidya handed over 98 dollars and thirty nine cents. Mahad took the money and pocketed it. He then twirled his finger at a sing reading “Vidya’s tab”, the number on which dropped down to $11.83.
“Don’t worry, this’ll be simple. Stand back. Kids, under the table” Vidya backed up to a corner, and the two smaller girls sat down under the table. They all watched intently, because when Mahad did magic, it looked awesome.
He began chanting in a long dead language, something that translated roughly to “lightning of Osiris, Lightning of twin Maws, betwixt life with death, and let rise anew. Thunderforce rebirth!” a bolt of lightning struck down from the sky. The body on the table surged upright, its eyes opened and crackling with electricity. Then it collapsed, and eyes closed again.
“did it work?” asked Aussa from underneath the table. just then, the body jolted upright, with force like that of the lightning that had rejuvenated it.
“Thank... you. My Name is... it is Chaska. I would offer my gratitude to those who saved me, and to he who rescued me.”
“uhh... no problem” Vidya responded.
“hey!” Neo burst in through the door. “Wyn says she’s allowed an extra marshmallow, but I wanted to check with you before... oh hi. Nice to see you awake.”
“Greetings. I am Chaska. I would like to thank you for saving me.”
“No problem. So, what are you gonna do now?”
“I do not know. I was meant to sleep until the day the Earthbound awaken, at which point I would join my siblings in battling them. However, that monster seems to have awoken me early, and I have no place to go while I wait.”
“Well, I have a guest room. I could probably talk my parents into letting you stay over at least some of the time.”
“Thank you, miss. You are most generous.”
“Hold up!” Mahad slammed down both hands on the table. What you said earlier... you’re one of the crimson star guardians, aren’t you.”
“Yes. Will that present a problem?”
“No. Just curious.”
“Psst!” Aussa whispered up to Neo. “what’s a crimson star guardian?”
“I have no idea.”
“A legendary group of homunculi meant to protect the world from an equally legendary group of imprisoned gods.”
“Huh. Neat. Hey, would either of you like to help us whack some demons with a stick for Neo’s teacher?”
“Vidya! You shouldn’t ask so bluntly”
“I would be honored to assist those who saved me”
“can’t. Gotta watch the shop. And the kids.”
“That’s totally fine. So.” Neo takes out the map of magical locations. “where to next?”

So, the new Hiita.
Logically speaking, we should get Lyna in April if they want to match it with LIGHT Duelist Pack, but that would mean Eria would be in either October, or January set, and possibly Dharc would be in some set after October 2024 onward.
Currently Charmers are missing:
**Level 4/5 retrains of Meda Bat, Happy Lover.
**Dedicated Spiritual Art card for Dharc.
**Cataclysmic (adult) versions of Lyna, and Dharc.
Outside of these, we don’t have monster cards for the secondary familiars. I’m guessing those will start popping up after Dharc’s Level 5 retrain.
***
Didn’t notice this, but Altergeist support includes a FIRE monster, so all Attributes are now covered for Main Deck Altergeists. The new Tuner will likely lead to a new Synchro in the future, but I’m guessing that will be an anniversary card.

Over the Nexus Deck Profile: Hiita Control
Charmers are an archetype that took several years to become a real Deck. They had many problems, one of which being that you couldn't guarantee your opponent had a Monster that A., could be stolen by whatever Charmer you had, and B., was actually worth stealing. Hiita the Fire Charmer comes the closest to not having that problem, thanks to two Monsters: Volcanic Queen and Lava Golem. Both of those are FIRE Monsters that can be summoned to your opponent's side of the field by tributing Monsters they control, one Monster or two respectively, at the cost of your Normal Summon for the turn. Considering the high attack power they both possess, this seems questionable, but the payoff is they inflict 1000 points of damage to their controller periodically. So, our gameplan is thus: Summon Lava Golem or Volcanic Queen and stall as much as possible, inflicting lots of damage on the way, and when we get our chance we flip up Hiita the Fire Charmer to take back our Monster and beat our opponent's skull in with it. As a precaution to avoid our own Monster from burning us to death, we play Familiar-Possessed - Hiita as means of removing the Monster safely and reliably if we stand to lose to our own Monster's effect, as well as Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai, an excellent finisher for this deck. Messenger of Peace, a card I generally don't care much for, puts a lot of work in here; We pay the cost until we're ready to steal our Monster back, in which case we let Messenger go and can attack unimpeded. If we can't find Messenger, we rely on Marshmallon, Spirit Reaper, or the classic Solar Flare Dragon lockdown for defense. This is probably my most gimmicky deck yet, but it has value if you're looking for a laugh. Here's the list:
