What does one do when stuck home with covid you ask? A movie marathon! Duh.

Just some HCs about how our precious pilots deal with being sick.

Mav: Fights the fact that he is sick until he collapses, then sleeps for 3 straight days.

Rooster: Sucks it up and loads himself up on DayQuil and decongestant. Flying high has a whole new meaning for the fever ridden pilot.

Hangman: I love him to death, but this man is a man-cold man all the way. He is crippled from the first sneeze to the last possible sign that he could still be sick.

Phoenix: "Me? Sick? Never." Phoenix has never been sick a day in her life. So far she has managed to evade Corona. Rooster has had it three times and is now placing bets with Hangman on when it will strike Phoenix.

Cyclone: looks perfect, ya boi has styled hair, clean clothes, a steaming white mug of tea, but then he sneezes and the Earth moves 3 inches to the left.

Bob: Bob is as quiet sick as he is regularly, sometimes Phoenix checks to make sure he is still breathing because he hasn't moved in 2 hours nor has he made a sound.

Hondo: His policy is to sleep it off, the man has never suffered through any illness, he simply sleeps.

Payback and Fanboy: If one is sick then the other is sure to follow. The base doctors have started writing them both prescriptions for whatever they need, it saves them all a trip to the clinic.

Coyote: Sweat it out. He will drink Gatorade non stop as he walks around his apartment with several layers of clothing on trying to sweat out the cold.

Ok, so I definitely need more backstory on —

• Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bernie "Hondo" Coleman: Hondo is a true ride-or-die. I admired his loyalty to Maverick. The bond between him and Maverick is strong and they clearly have a lot respect for one another.

I really want to know how they came to know each other and how long have they known each other.

• Rear Admiral Solomon "Warlock" Bates: Another one of Mav’s supporters. Being a superior officer, I love that he humbles Maverick and keeps him on his toes (“They’re called orders, Maverick.”). I also appreciate that he stuck up for him several times in the movie, namely when Cyclone tries to insinuate that Mav was to blame for Goose’s death (Nevermind that it still haunts Maverick). He’s also one of the few people who really understands how much flying means to Maverick.

I loved that victory fist pump he gave to Maverick when he and Rooster made it back to the carrier.

And finally… PAYBACK AND FANBOY

I NEED SO MUCH MORE ON THIS DYNAMIC.

AU where Mav and Bradley make up years before the mission bc of some life or death bullshit or smt and to piss with the team they just decide to be Like That for shits and giggles and eventually they get in too deep and now Bradley has to pretend to be an asshole to Mav on the job and then a few hours later he’s sitting with Hondo and Warlock and discussing some bs that he and Mav pulled on Ice at breakfast a few days before.

It's really frustrating to me to see that the only ships to come out of Top Gun Maverick, involving Maverick, are Mav and the white characters when Hondo and Warlock were right there

Warlock may not have a close relationship with Mav but he is always kind to him and even sometimes seems fond of him, so you could very easily write a fic where they get to know each other and realise they love each other

Meanwhile Hondo not only cares about him but already has a relationship with him, Mav put his own career at risk to protect Hondo and their colleagues, Hondo is the only one to shed tears when they all think Maverick died

Sure, they may not have much romantic chemistry but you could blame that on limited screen time and run with it, and they both actually care about Mav which is a damn sight better than the "chemistry" between Mav and the new white characters he is shipped with in TGM

You're really trying to convince me that these two guys wouldn't be good shipping material, I have seen ships with less chemistry (Cyclone and Mav) or chemistry in the wrong direction (looking at you 'He's my son in everyway that counts except biologically ' relationships) take off despite that

So the fact that specifically the two black characters aren't being put in ships with Mav and I have barely encountered them at all in fanfic, sure feels racist

Umm, so things on Top Gun Maverick ✈️❤️‍🔥 I'm obsessing over:

I fucking love Hangman, like seriously love him, have you seen his facial expressions? Like when they tell them about the mission, and everyone's like wtf, and he only has that playful "I live for this challenge" like it's just a game for him, or when Maverick was doing the impossible mission (mission impossible haha), and everyone's shocked and Hangman has that admiration in his eyes.

And have you seen how worried he was when Rooster was hit, and how he wanted to go and save him immediately, and how happy and relieves he looked after saving their asses, like small boy ❤️‍🔥🥺 I can't deal with this guy ffs

I know his a soft boy with huge heart ❤️

Also I fuckin love Hondo too, like please, can we be friends?? 🥺 He's all in with Mav's shit, and always so supportive, and never afraid to go through hell with him, and when Mav was demonstrating the mission, and he was just like "yeah, that's my boy, now you can see too what a fckin badass he is", he's totally aware of what Mav is capable of, and he's the type of guy you'd trust blindly.

Yeah, this is the best movie ever

Hey! I'm looking for a fic but the only part I remember is when I think Rooster salutes/stands to attention for an officer (maybe cyclone/Warlock) and Hondo!

It's for sure Hondo. I also remember there was a comment on the fic explaining that a Lt. won't stand to attention for Hondo because he's a warrant officer so not higher ranking.

I know it's vague, but please any help🥰
