not to be unwell about the httyd books again but.

Hiccup starting out book 10 lost in the woods just like Dante who came to himself within a dark wood where the straight way was lost and then is hurled into the place where he comes face to face with the worst parts of humanity just as Dante does in the inferno, where he learns to see and accept/reject the flaws sins of humanity in order to become a good and just king to find the right virtuous way and all the time is lead by a wise figure who has seen the best and the worst humanity has to offer?

Also "Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here" and "Forget All Those Who Enter Here"???

I started httyd book 10 on the December 1st and finished on the 4th! (Info for me)

Spoilers below!

What A ROLLERCOASTER

Poor Hiccup spent one year running away and hiding 😭 a whole year is so much

Eggingarde was so heartbreaking! I'm glad that she ended up safe, at least one thing went well 🫠

Hiccup's parents not recognizing him was so sad, I almost cried when stoick said that he was angry at hiccup, but immediately after that he said that he was proud to be his father and there I was almost crying again, my heart was like 📉📈📉📈📉📈

Thankfully Camicazi appeared to help Hiccup and even recognized him AAA YIPPEE

Toothless and Wodensfang are so funny together

Hiccup almost being swallowed- he's so BRAVE, my anxiety WAS SCREAMING

Hiccup trying to get freezing Fishlegs warmer 😭 that was so kind

I was so confused by Valhallarama, it's good to finally understand where she has been! For a second I thought she was on Alvin's side (because recently I found out that in httyd 2 movie Valka was going to be the villain and then they changed it) but no! She was so amazing while bringing people to Hiccup's side, even though I was getting mad too before that DJAKFNKSD

All was getting a little better but then the Jewel was of course stolen and anxiety is BACK

The ten companions was very cute but I can't stop thinking about where Horrowcow is

You can really see how Hiccup is growing up, cries so much

Some age-old "HTTYD 3" Doods featuring Outcast Younger and Prison Darkheart Elder

"HTTYD 3" is books 9-12. Younger took Big Tooth with him in exile on Elder's request, to keep each other safe. They'd meet the Light Fury while on the run (who is Furious's right hand and is trying to kill them, mind you), and Grimmel would be one of the bounty hunters tracking down Minicup through Big Toothless. Unfortunate side effects of traveling with a night fury!

Elder takes Stoick's place in the books getting taken to Prison Darkheart along with the other Dragon Riders 😔

Honestly interesting that Cressida chose to add in that page of Hiccup imagining what a potato would look like because kids wouldn't know that potatoes originally originated from South America. (to my knowledge)

something about the way book 10 begins with hiccup being the loneliest he’s ever been. an outcast, a hero on a quest, a wanted boy on both sides of the war. with only three dragons as his closest companions. windwalker, wodensfang and toothless as sole witnesses to his growing up for an entire year - how evident that all three of them tried their absolute hardest to protect and take care of hiccup given the dire circumstances of being on the run.

and something about the way it ends with hiccup's own little ensemble of a group, dubbed as 'the ten companions of the dragonmark' - consisting of his most loved humans and dragons who would now undoubtedly follow him anywhere. finally having the chance to laugh freely and exchange stories and to breathe a little easier, even if just for a moment. and even if worry and guilt seem to weigh heavy on him, the wodensfang is there to remind him of his youth, to 'leave these worries to us old creatures' and that hiccup is no longer alone.
