He joined the British army at 19 (it was 100% an act of self destruction but now he cant leave bc it's all he knows) he specialized as a sniper and joined the SAS at 22, (was captured and tortured (but did not break) at 23 and took a year to rehabilitate before rejoining), and was hand picked by Price to join TF 141 at ~27 (again my math might be wrong but idc).

At some point during this he leveled up to a Sargent which is his current rank.

Looking at the scary brooding man who speaks very little who WILL snarl at you if you piss him off enough you would not guess it but he is a BIG card game fan HOWEVER do not play w him bc he will CHEAT bc hes also very good at slight of hand (and card tricks!!)

Hes literally just a silly little guy with a tragic background and enough trauma for a fucking large city but he tells silly jokes when he warms up to you (but takes a while) and once you have his trust you will have it for life !! i don't really like the idea of itachi as a martyr or that he sacrificed himself for the greater good - because he took lives that weren't his with him, he really took the choice out of everyone's hands. but it's also true that he did try to help and change their minds and literally every other option, so. idk. it's a gray area there, not the point of this post. anyways. what i mean to say is that one of the reasons, not the only, why itachi decided to keep sasuke in the dark - to fuel sasuke's hatred towards him instead of waiting for sasuke to be old enough to help or whatever, is that he knew exactly the kind of sorrow and grief sasuke would be in when itachi died. because one way or another itachi was going to die. by sasuke's hands or not, he'd still be seen as the villain, the bad guy. which is true, he is the bad guy.

and that sasuke was under immense pain when obito told him about itachi's entire plan is also true, so yeah. he wasn't wrong about that. and he knew because that's exactly what he felt when shisui killed himself after danzo stole one of his eyes. itachi had never felt so alone and so angry in his entire life. he resented shisui for years, he probably died resenting him. a little bit.

don't get me wrong, he understands shisui's motivations and his reasoning + that shisui was probably done with all that shit, or so itachi thinks. but it still hurt like a bitch. and he never wanted that for sasuke. he'd rather be hated by his baby brother than have him living with that pain for the rest of his life. in that sense, yeah, itachi is a martyr i guess...
