Also wanted to congrat the UK! As a spaniard I fully undestand that feeling of finally being up there.

The thing tho is that me being me (aka having a full-on Eurovision brainrot) decided to scroll through the Tumblr tag in order to, hopefully, find any memes or anything of the sorts. What I didn't expect however was to stumble upon Spain hate (???

There's a specific post which was, indeed, a meme that went something along the lines of "I don't care if Italy wins, it's about to see Spain loose", which ????

Scrolling through the comments many people were just straight up being mean, some even saying we were annoying for being too excited about Slowmo.

Sigh... Look, I am aware it is just a meme and in the whacky realm of the Internet it is rather frequent to realise that what you said might've not translated on the screen exactly as you envisioned. It's a thing that's bound to happen, language is very ambiguous and subjective.

I'm fully aware I could just ignore it and that'd be it. However I can't help it but get kinda mad. This year was Spain's best preformance in over 27 years, Chanel and her team have given us (and I mean an us as in all of Europe, Australia and anyone who's watched her live preformance) an outstanding show that we, the Spanish, have every right to be proud, happy and vocal about. After all it's not every year that you climb to the top from the very bottom, just let us have the little joy we can. 🇪🇸 🇬🇧

It is my fist language as I'm Mexican.

I would recomend getting started by listening to Spanish speakers and getting used to the sound of us speaking. You can try with movies of videos that interest you.

I'm currently trying to learn French and I find reading comics and books I've already read multiple times (The Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, Harry Potter and other 2014-ish things that lived on my brain rent free back then) have helped me with vocabulary and understanding what I read a lot better.

Also go for the accent that is easier for you to understand to start learning. I personally think Mexican accent is the easiest to undestand (not including slang here) but I may be biased.

I'm glad you're enjoying my blog! Feel free to hit me with any comment or doubt you have. I don't have any training as a teacher, but according to my classmates at uni I'm a pretty decent English tutor.

I am from Spain, and I know I should read more in Spanish if I want to actually improve my writing in that language. Now that I'm in university I find it more important than ever being able to express my self in a Spanish, organised, sensible way.

I read way more in English, since I basically spend all my free time consuming media in English, reading fanfics in English and when I talk with people online, we do so in English too.

My English level is not bad, I am most definitely not fluent but I can defend myself and express ideas. The issue is, if I had spent that much time doing all that but in Spanish, I would probably be WAY better in my mother language than I am now. Was it worth it? What's better, being mediocre in two languages or excel in one?

If there was as many content of the kind I enjoy in Spanish, it would probably be easier (there's literally one person that makes stories that i like and know of). So maybe I should be the one to make it? But for that I need to learn, but I don't know where to learn from, leading me into an infinite rabbit hole.

I could also start posting in Spanish, but I want people to interact, see and undestand what I express. I don't know what to do, how to start or who and where to ask for help and meet people.

This hit me today as I was thinking of angsty holiday headcanons, so here we go...

Stan had spent every Christmas with Soos and Abuelita and their familia ever since he hired the little gumdrop.

Five months after hiring the handyman, Soos is stomping his boots free of snow on the porch, and he asks Mr. Pines if he has plans for the holidays and what the hours at the Mystery Shack will look like. Business is usually dead all of December, so he tells Soos that other than shoveling snow and coming up with new attractions for January, there's not much of a reason to show up, avoiding the question if he had plans.

So Soos comes by every single day, if only for an hour, and one days he asks Mr. PInes if he had a favorite holiday tradition, allowing Stan to let slip that he misses Ma's latkes and Soos learning that Stan's family is Jewish. He's even more nervous, worried that Stan would want to he alone and more definitely feel uncomfortable celebrating a new holiday, so he chuckles shakingly, "Oh. That's really neat! Cool! Guess you've never been to a Christmas dinner then, huh?"

Stan, not picking up the hint, flicks through the channels on the TV. "Nope."

"So... would you wanna come to our's? You don't have to if you don't want to, but Abuelita always makes too much food and I'm sure they'll be something you'll like." At that Stan snorts and shrugs, asking how can he deny a free meal, and agrees to come.

On Christmas Day he hesitates, but knocks on the front door. Abuelita smiles at him, a poinsettia pin in her gray hair, and invites him inside a loud house filled with friendly faces. Soos imminently greets him and compliments his red-and-white stripped tie and shows him around. And Stan can't help but notice a big plate of potato-pancakes on the table full of food.

Ofcourse Soos wouldn't want Stan to spend holiday season alone!

Even tough I'm pretty sure Abuelita would have forced Stan to come anyway jajfjs, The man her dear nephew won't stop bragging about , his hero and favorite person in the world? Thanks to Stan Soos doesn't think much about his missing Dad and she couldn't be more grateful about it, and she makes sure Stan knows how grateful she is by making him super special food that she's sure Stan will enjoy.

Also, Stan will never admitt it, but since he knows Spanish he often overhears Soos referring to him as Dad and telling his granma how Awsome and Incredible Stan is and she would agree and Stan would just sit there at the dinner table pretending not to undestand Spanish and holding in a smile, eating the most delicious recepies he hasn't eaten in such a long time, just like his mom used to make them.

A warm plate of food eaten with an even warmer family is something Stan would cherish dearly each year, finally looking forward to holiday season after 30 years spent alone
