I’m having thoughts about how Chuuya absolutely knows when he’s being manipulated. How he must consistently choose the path of least resistance against people like Dazai and Mori because of how well he understands his own limits.

And how his trust for Dazai must’ve been cemented because of the moment in stormbringer when Dazai was truthful and told him the easiest path would be the most painful for Chuuya personally. When he gave him a real choice to forgo the overall easier/most likely to succeed path and have Dazai figure out something else for his own need to know himself. And I’m thinking about how Chuuya chose to use corruption and how that HAD to have been because of what happened with the sheep and the last time he chose to chase after his origins. I am thinking so many thoughts!!!

Like Lan Wangji argued with Wei Wuxian but still stood aside when he protected the wen remnants (and even visited after) thus picking Wei Wuxian over his clan and the cultivation world as a whole actually (because he was public enemy number 1 at that point)

But Jiang Cheng argued with Wei Wuxian and offered to protect him and only him but then still agreed with the plan to publicly cut ties with him then actively showing up at the big fight aginst him in the end thus picking the clan (with his mothers ideals) (and the general safety of doing what everyone else is doing) over Wei Wuxian

Maybe it wasnt what he wanted maybe it was just what he thought he needed to do but my point stands. Especially if that is the case.
