I was forced to put my whole life into perspective in the past 30 or so hours and I'm honestly annoyed with something unrelated to the mess I'm currently in. Look, I'm smart, I'm textbook smart. I'm good at math and physics and logic and I'm good at articulating myself to spread the information and also really creative and that helps. Gifted kid and all that stupid shit. But my whole life I was seen as wasted. Because I didn't want to be a doctor or civil engineer or whatever profession people deem fitting for someone the view as smart. And that was definitely made worse by the fact I'm smarter than my brother and he's a doctor and i get the "if you're smarter than him then why aren't you doing something like he does". And like why is that the only valid option? Why can't I just want to do something without thinking about extremely random standards? Why do I have to keep up to expectations put on me as 9 year old who was at the top of her class and could read at highschool level? Why is it a bad thing that I don't want to do a thing I know is gonna make me dark and bitter? Why is it a bad thing that I wanna add music and art and pretty things around me to make sure life isn't as shit as it keeps proving it is? Why do I need to live up to a random potential set only by the fact that people don't think I should do what I want to do?

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT????
