These Weeks in BL - This Is Very Late, Or Right on Time depending on where you sit on the temporal debate team

Sorry I got distracted by work. In my defense: I was paid.

March 2024 Wk 1 & 2

Ongoing Series - Thai

Cherry Magic (Sat YouTube grey) ep 12 fin - Unfortunately, there was singing. But what can we do?

A soft charming warm hug of a show about crushes and mind reading and self worth, with no-fuss execution from a consummate team and an OG lead pair proving why they remain eternal and deserve to grow up. Look, here’s the thing, Cherry Magic is a great Thai BL in its own right not comparing it to any other iteration. But even when I do compare (and I've seen all the Cherries and read the manga) it still stands. This is a great show, a solid adaptation, and a pleasing take on the original yaoi. I personally like it better than the Japanese live action, but I think that’s because I just really like Thai BL and I LOVE TayNew. I doubted them for this and I shouldn’t have. They did a great job, as did the sides. I will say all the kissing was both present and better than any other iteration. As it should be. Definitely one for the rewatch rotation. 9/10

Deep Night (Thurs iQiyi) ep 1 of 8 (10?) - Damn it, I love it. And I don't want to. It’s more classic BL than I thought it would be, and far less Only Friends or Playboyy. (Thank fuck.) We got a big cast and a lot of tropes going down out the gate, including SMITTEN popular hot guy versus nerd with secret identity. (Incidentally, Khem did drop into rude / informal when arguing with his Aunt and defending his ma. Bratty boy.) The leads have good chemistry (First always does), and everyone is very pretty. The main boy reminds me of J-Min's role (and look) in Love Class 2. I am entertained. (And faintly wonder why this isn't a MosBank vehicle.)

To Be Continued (Thai C3 Thailand grey) eps 1-3 of 8- High school sweethearts who had a bad break up reunite a decade later when both of them have full time jobs (celebrity & doctor). Dr Ji is a familiar face (hi Dream it's been a LONG time) and everyone is way too old for high school, but I guess I prefer this to child actors?

I'm enjoying it, actually, the cast may be older but they're solid as a result and the chemistry is on point for a pulp. Whether our celebrity is on the DL or cheating or something else remains to be seen but he sure is smitten. The way he LOOKS at Ji = hawt.

Frankly? Celebrity/doctor is a good pairing and this is a solid Thai BL. I hope we have a nice angsty reason for the break-up and we're not in another Promise situation. I like the sides too. Carry on, little show, I'm disposed to be pleased with you.

City of Stars (Fri iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 12 - I am enjoying it, actually. It’s incredibly silly. But I don’t really mind. STOP SINGING.

1000 Years Old eps 3-4 of 12 - I love that these kids basically adopted a vampire pet. And one of them accidentally got a vampire boyfriend. This suddenly turned from a PNR into a family drama about domestic gays opening a food stall and I'm not mad about it. Nothing makes sense and I don't care because... rainbow umbrella!

A Secretly Love (Thai WeTV grey) eps 1 of 10 - I don’t love it. I make no bones about the fact that a pining uke rarely works for me, especially if he’s younger (cute supportive besties not withstanding), the power dynamic isn’t good. I always like Kimmon, he’s a stiff actor but v pretty. (I shallow af.) Still it’s time he started acting his age… literally. Having to watch ads again as well… for this? Ooof. I'm not sure I'm strong enough.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Perfect Propose (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 6 fin - It was very cute. I liked that there was uke instigated kisses. However I have some reservations on this one, much as I enjoyed it.

Adapted from Mayo Tsurakame’s manga, production team included Tadaaki Horai (My Love Mix-Up!) and Takeshi Miyamoto (Old Fashion Cupcake). Essentially Perfect Propose was about finding hope in a person when all other hope is gone. This show focuses on apathy, and perforce is somewhat apathetic and un-engaging especially as the pacing was off (and with only 6 episodes? now) However, this is countered by great visuals, good archetypes, and a clean story of childhood sweethearts reuniting after loosing their way in life. I landed on 8/10 mostly for a demanding younger seme and some great kisses.

Unknown (Taiwan Tues Youku YouTube) eps 2-3 of 11 - Oh it’s great. I love it. I’m still worried by how gritty and "Taiwanese short-esk" it feels, but wow does this hit all my favorite taboo tropes and buttons. I also adore the little found fam, they the cutest gay older bros ever. The younger one who wants so bad to grow up and take care of the older one and pushes himself because into self sacrifice that’s the only model of love he has. ARGH. BOYS. Why so much pain, just smooch already! Sheesh. It's on YouTube for some of us, here's the schedule.

AntiReset (Taiwan Fri Viki/Gaga) eps 6-7 of 10 - They remain questionably cute, and that is probably going to be my ultimate review of this show. Awe cameo! (Hi babies, hope the ghosts are leaving you alone.) The irony does not escape me that the person in the relationship with the most emotional acumen is, in fact, the robot and not the human. I'm sure that's meant to be deep.

Love is Better the Second Time Around AKA Koi wo Suru nara Nidome ga Joto (Japan Gaga) ep 1 of 6 - A tortured second chance romance featuring a reported and a successful celebrity(?) academic. The kid actors look nothing like their adult counterparts, but they do look much younger. So, okay. Ah the utter embarrassment of first love. Oh I like it a lot, so very messy Japanese emo. Sigh. Here we go again.

Although I Love You and You AKA Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka (Japan Thurs Gaga) eps 8-9 of 10 - They are a cute couple. They both trying so hard and so confused and awkward and polite in trying to understand each other but TERRIBLE at communication.

My Strawberry Film (Japan Thurs Gaga) eps 3-4 of 8 - I don’t know how I feel about this. But I do know it’s not my thing because it’s not BL. I’ll finish it because it’s short but… meh.

What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - will binge when I have any spare time. 2024 is crazy busy for me so far.

The Servant and the Young Master (Vietnam YouTube) - I will try when I have a window of time.

Began Beginning (Myanmar YouTube) - A Burmese BL? @heretherebedork vouched for it, so I will watch eventually.

It's airing but...

Dead Friend Forever (Thai iQIYI) - finished it's run and I won't be watching it. It's horror with BL elements and the ending, well, let's just say that's a "no thank you" from me.

Ossans Love Season 2 (Japan Gaga) - 5 years later, will anything have changed? This is Japan so… no. I'm not watching this. I dislike this franchise.

Time the series (Tue Gaga/YT) 10 eps - dropped it at ep 4.

Takumi-kun (2023) movie version AKA Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari no Hajimari no Asa released on FOD 3/5/2024. The original project was a 6 ep series. Having seen all the previous iterations and read the (terrible) yaoi I admit to being intrigued. If anyone finds eng subbed please let me know with a link in comments or in a DM? For those intersted in this show, probably the world's first true BL franchise I chat all about it here.

3/21 Two Worlds (Thai IQIYI) 10 eps - announced here. One of those "he's dead Jim so time travel" thingames staring MaxNat. I'm over them but Asia flipping loves this trope and I do adore MaxNat. Phupha (Gun) and Khram (Nat) love each other but Phupha is murdered. Then Khram is pulled to a parallel world where, 12 years ago, Khram and Tai (Max) were in love. However, Khram was killed by Thai’s dad. Now Tai finds alter-Khram apparently alive. But then there is ALSO an alter-Phupha (played by Gun Thanawat who is Khom the repressed butler bodyguard from Unforgotten Night).

this turned out to have many asides and be very long so the tl;dr is: peter have you considered that he's just a twenty-something teenage girl :( ?

timeline:

neal born 1984 ish. he's an aries and a millennial

neal, ellen, and neal's mom go into witsec 1987, neal age 3

2003 adler scandal i fucking guess. neal age 19

neal arrested probably mid 2005, 21

neal goes to jail for the first time, i want to say early 2006, age almost 22

pilot is set late summer 2009, age 25

same-sex marriage legalized in new york june 24th 2011, they talk about this in season 3 episode 14 which is soon after. neal's 27

more or less a year later–let's go with less–neal tells sam that he has spent the last decade running from the truth he learned at 18. taking him literally that it was 10 years ago he is now 28 it is the end of season 4 and 2012

the end of season 4 to the series finale is less than a year. he is 29 its 2013.

when we see him in paris he might be 30 but that doesn't count To Me

i present my evidence:

i don't know where we got "neal is 35" from i cant make it work. neal and co. went into witsec (which i have actually since learned is not available to people living in dc, they have their own version but it is not overseen by the federal marshalls, i don't think they can give you as many legal documents like a ssn, and they don't help you set up your new life as much? something about neal's life that would be interesting to explore.) when he was three and ellen says in season 4 that she's been in witsec for Nearly three decades. confirmed 33 or under in season 4

he also says to "sam" more than once that he's spent the last decade running from the truth he learned at 18–he very well could be rounding down here and mean like 12-13 years but i am Choosing to Believe he meant that literally. we are now at youngest 28, it is the last episode of season 4.

now due to the way the show is structured and the fact that it is never really winter. ok maybe winter 1 time because i can see in my mind neal in his little wool coat and earmuffs but largely it is summer and we never have a christmas episode. anyway due to All That our only real anchor in the timeline is that the episode where diana is Grappling with her engagement to Christie happens immediately following june 24th 2011, when same-sex marriage was legalized in new york. and also that later that season in the commutation hearing they say that neal has served 2 years of his sentence. so the pilot was set in 2009 when it aired we are at one year/season. but as the series goes on the episodes and even seasons have increasingly shorter gaps between them, and by season 6 we haven't even finished our four years. by the end of season 4 i want to say we are three years into his sentence and he's 28. between the end of season 4 and when neal dies in season 6 there has got to be less than a year that passes. actually deadass why was neal so obsessed with the pink panther case ending his sentence early we are like months out king. i get the injustice the system is broken they'd keep him forever but to people outside his circle he must have looked sooo silly for that. but whatever. he is 29 when he dies and 30 when we see him again in paris, his roaring 20s of crime and incarceration over.

Anyway where the "neal is 35 or at least claims to be much older than this timeline would say he is" probably came from in-universe is that the adler scandal takes place SEVEN years before s2 when peter confronts neal about it. 2003?????? guys the thing we have to understand, to embrace, about neal's personal timeline is that i do not think anyone in that writers room was really grasping how much they had neal do in so short a time. 2003 he is like 19 guys. maybe by the time peter says it was 7 years ago it was 2011 ? and the adler thing was 2004? but no that couldn't work because it's mid 2011 like a year later in s3. so basically neal walks out of st louis and has a magical girl transformation through which he immediately becomes a great conman and criminal. and he meets mozzie basically straight away. he should still be in like calculus and ap lit at this juncture. and then they go right into the adler con ??? and neal is obviously lying through his teeth to everyone saying he is at least 21 but probably more along the lines of 23. and while most of his aliases are eventually found out by peter if no one else, no one ever goes "wait IS HE a teenager?" no one is guessing this.

so we spend a couple months fucking around and fucking UP with adler, kate probably doesn't know how old we actually are, this relationship cannot actually last very long at all because we are truly on a time crunch right now. we have less than three years for neals entire criminal career before he goes to jail. i know i said on the bullet list he went to jail early 2006 he has got to have been arrested like summer 2005 at the latest to be tried and sentenced by then and i feel like even that might be tight because he was suspected of so many other things they wanted to get evidence for. but how is neal teaching kate to be a criminal less than a year into his own career. i think neal must have been a hardcore improv kid for this to work honestly. i bet he competed. so our golden days of mozzie neal and kate against the world lasts maybe a year at best before neal and kate fight and she leaves and he spends months trying to get her back and get her attention and commits a truly breathtaking amount of crimes in this time.

also i'm skipping through forging bonds right now trying to flesh out this timeline and it was incredibly shady of peter and co to see that kate is doing so much to stay hidden from her ex boyfriend and then to reveal her to neal in order to catch him. like that was fucked up they didn't know neal yet he hadn't been suspected of violent crimes but they didn't know why kate was working so hard to escape him. like it worked out ok (arguably, but that could be a different post) but they had no reason to trust neal not to hurt her like this. she could have been running from an abusive situation he's known to be a talented criminal with no fears about escalating his crimes he could have killed her. one thing about the fbi is that they never once care about kate's safety and it does indeed get her killed one day.

in conclusion neal is known as one of the best forgers in the world when he is arrested in 2005 at age 21 maybe 2 years into his criminal career. here i am 21 what have i accomplished

10: What are your sim's favorite foods?

13: Does your sim believe in any cliches? (i.e love at first sight?)

I feel like that's such an awkward question, but I'll do my best to answer. Take "it is what it is," for example, he believes in that, sure he's has tragedy occur in his life, but getting older, he has grown into a "it is what it is," mindset, he also believes in "don't judge a book by its cover," (granted he is slightly hypocritical in this sense but he's trying his best), it's hard to really determine if he does or not since I looked up cliches and they're different than what I thought LMAO.

33: what kind of music does your sim listen to and who is their favorite artist?

ooooohhhh okay I like this question. Roo is, musically, very similar to me, he's scrambled and doesn't have a set music taste, I guess if you could define it in any way, it'd be Indie Music, he listens to songs you probably haven't heard of, or have, but nobody talks about them, off the top of your head, if he said Single ladies, you'd think oh! Beyonce! But if he said crave, you'd probably scramble to think of who it could be (it's "eli.", I love his music), and he definitely wouldn't be upset if you said "I don't know that artist."

A couple of artists he enjoys (in no particular order): Ricky montgomery (my MAN, projecting on roo </3), Roe Kapara, Brakence, Autoheart, Tame impala, and Good kid (I actually have no idea if these artists are considered Indie, but I literally never hear anyone talk about them except for Kevin and MAYBE Ricky).

— 🎬 just announced, EMIRI ASLAN has been cast as hayley marshall in the upcoming the vampire diaries reboot. the twenty seven year old is trending as people are debating if smoke dancing around a street light at 3 am, one leg hanging out the window while gazing at the moon, strong smell of perfume as you walk pass; hand raking through your hair in a calming motion that they are known for is enough to make them as good as original. a quick google search shows that their fans call them intelligent, but internet trolls think they’re more compulsive. i guess their newest interview for variety where they talk about the guy she left at the altar will let people to know them better.

hey GUYSSSS. its me meli hi. emiri's bio is a lot longer than i thought it would be???? but i think it leaves plenty of room for plots! so please plot with my babies i BEG.

november 14, 1999. EMIRI ASLAN was born to local hardware store owner emre aslan and his wife asli aslan. adding to their family of 3 -- which also included emiri's older brother aydin -- they resided in a small seaside town on the east coast. emre and asli came to america from turkey back in the 80s in hopes to live the whole 'american dream'. at first, they were met with a lot of prejudice and ignorance while they lived in charlotte -- but soon they found their community in a smaller town nearby and had since lived in peace with everyone around them. asli worked at the local hospital in the NICU and emre started his hardware store.

(tw: car crash, death) the aslan's were very beloved by everyone around them. emiri and aydin were the best of friends when they were little. as close of siblings as they could be. but, when asli had passed unexpectedly in a car crash, everything started to change. emre started to become distant from his kids. and it was obvious to everyone around them. but in asli's memory, everyone had rallied around them to help emre with his two kiddos (who were only 3 and 10 at the time of her death). unfortunately, only so much can be done for a checked-out parent. aydin started to act out. he couldn't process his emotions on anything going on and it was all too much for him. emiri just became quiet. everyone was doing the best they could, but none of them could handle asli being gone.

(tw: drinking, drugs) 2005 - 2016. as emiri got older, she broke out of her shell again. she started to become the same outgoing little girl she once was. she had gotten her light back. she was doing well in school, she found a passion in theater and film -- and she was more or less popular with kids her age. a very charismatic personality. but her dad slipped into a depression that he never got back out of. and her brother went down an even darker road. her dad and brother had both started drinking and fighting when both of them were home. at some point emiri just stopped going home. staying with friends or neighbors when she could.

(tw: burglary) until one night right before she turned 17. she was home and her dad stumbled in the door. he had been kicked out of a local bar and brought home by another guy who had just gotten there. she wasn't sure who he was so she went to bed and didn't think to intrude on what her dad had going on. her brother was already passed out in the basement so she knew there wasn't going to be any fighting that night. however, later that evening (around 3 am) she was woken up by the sound of a window breaking. at first, she didn't know what it was. but then she heard footsteps. thinking quickly, she hid under her bed.

she remembers seeing 3 sets of boots running through the house. but all she could do was watch helplessly, hoping her brother and father wouldn't wake up for it. there were sounds of breaking glass, rustling; papers being thrown for a few hours but she was never sure if they left or not -- so she stayed there until the next morning before she went to check what had happened. she found her father still passed out on the couch and her brother in the basement. but the whole house was trashed.

after that day, she refused to go back. she grabbed what she could and moved in with a friend a few blocks away. her father didn't fight it. he knew, deep down, this was for the best. her brother ran away after that, though she never knew why. her father started getting clean himself and eventually emiri started to see a positive change.

2017 - 2020. right before graduation, she decided to leave. emiri had big dreams and she was set on actually following through with them. getting to LA was hard enough. but actually being able to support herself while she was there was proving to be harder. she started going to open casting calls basically from day one and her charm got her pretty far. she was what older people would call 'scrappy'. but she also had to do a lot of things she wasn't proud of. including flirting with a local known screen writer. he was up-and-coming and she just wanted nothing more than to be known. after a 6 month fling, he proposed. she loved him too, she thought, by then. she thought she could see a future for the two of them. this was her new life. he was helping her get auditions and even providing for her. he truly loved her. she was safe.

october 9th, 2020. wedding day. it was supposed to be something small. no one from her past was invited, but a few friends she met in LA came in support. it was in a small wooded clearing, almost like a fairytale. gold and white everywhere. but as she stood at the beginning of the aisle looking down at the man waiting for her, she didn't feel like it was right. she didn't end up getting married that day. she wasn't ready and she didn't really think she was in love with him the way he deserved. so, she turned back around and left. by this time she had been in a couple big projects so the wedding was for sure being whispered about. rumors in tabloids swirled but emiri's ex fiance shut everything down. he never said anything bad about her or their breakup and wished her the best. and emiri was left with the guilt and a feeling that she lost something big.

2021 - now. it took her a while, but emiri got back into acting. she started building her portfolio -- even agreeing to work with her ex again a few times before she stepped back from movies for a while and had great success in TV. currently, she was just announced for the role of Hayley Marshall in The Vampire Diaries remake.

21: what i love most about myself

ok so i sometimes feel confident in my ability to answer this question. other times, not so much. but i think what's consistent within me that i love most about myself is just my overall strength and perseverance. i consider myself someone who never gives up. and that reaps very strong rewards for myself, i guess:} i also love how i can look out for other people, but these past 3 years? its especially the way how i can look out for myself. i can be my worst enemy at times, but i also consider myself someone who can protect themselves when in situations where i wish someone else could protect me in :p idk!!!!! it comes with dealing with healing and pain all by yourself for so long.

34: what i find attractive in a woman

oh My gosh ok *claps my hands together*.... i think i truly do Not have much of a preference, like im more attracted to girls than i am guys ive established that here. but certain things that i find really attractive are when women act in..... "Masculine" ways that would normally turn off other straight guys. like when a woman can stand up for herself and be loud; not necessarily quiet and soft and holding back on her opinion like men want most women to be doing. when a woman doesn't adhere to traditionally feminine roles and owns it. something that also makes me melt is a woman that is Very protective. not in a way where she's scared of me entering any situation like im 10, but in a way where she's not afraid of any scrutiny if she does stand up for me u__u <3 i tend to like taller women. ive met some women who resemble ryan ross's features, im into tht too ig ^_^ women that are also very very seductive/flirtatious are my type, too lol.

35: what i find attractive in men

nothing..............jokes. alot of things. but what comes up most for me is men that have similar values to me. this strangely doesn't show up for women, but for me when a guy shares very similar beliefs/values etc etc i think it's very attractive, he's smart. while we're on that, what i mainly find attractive is when a guy speaks with intelligence. im fully turned on by a guy that can demonstrate intelligence and can especially articulate themselves very well. One of the most attractive things a guy can be is older than me .....i do tend to find a guy slightly less attractive than me when he's my age or younger lmfao. another thing that is only present when a romantic relationship isn't established yet: i am attracted to a guy who is able to like show interest in me in anyway shape or form. i don't like it when i have to Guess if a guy is into me or wants me in anyway. it makes me grumpy :<

YES OH MY GOD I'VE BEEN WAITING TO EXPAND ON THIS i just couldn't figure out how to work it into my story (though, there's a little bit in my original chapter!!). i'm gonna go through roxy, the boys, jo, and camille for this one and its SO LONG but i hope you enjoy bc i had so much fun writing it

Roxy:

How many people are in her immediate family? - The only person in Roxy's immediate family is her father, Declan Somerset. How many people are in her extended family?/Does she have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - Roxy has no idea how many people are in her extended! As far as she's aware, her father has his parents who she's never met and probably never will meet. Her father is the only person who she has ever considered her family, and that's just fine by her. - Information from the author wise, this is just flavor and will probably never come up in the actual story, Declan is an only child, but his parents had many siblings, leaving him with a shit ton of cousins. However, his father and mother both had large age gaps between them and their closest in age sibling so all of his cousins are 10+ years older than him. In combination with leaving home at 17 after falling out with his parents and his family members being far older than he is, he's never felt the need to ever reconnect with anyone blood related to him after moving from Texas to Minnesota. By extension, Roxy has never met or learned about anyone in her family beyond her own father. Who in her family is she closest with? - This may come as a shock: Her father. Is she close with her birth family, or does she have a found family? - Roxy is not close with her bio mom, and Declan being her biological dad would make her technically close with her birth family I guess! - Another fun author fact: In the original draft of this story, Roxy's mother played a big role in her connection to the arts and music and had recently passed away, severing her ties to anything music related. Her father, after seeing this, pushed her to go audition at the pop star search and that's how she ended up meeting the guys etc, etc. but i realized that's almost exactly the same as the plot to one of my favorite shows, Julie and the Phantoms, and i completely wrote her mom out of the story and am now trying to achieve the "Kendall and Katie's dad effect" where she's just never mentioned. She truly matters so little I never even named her lmaooo - In the published version (more flavor text tbh), her mom moved from Texas back to her hometown of Duluth to have Roxy, dumped her on Declan, dipped, and they never heard from her again. I imagine that she was just flirting around the Texas punk scene hoping to get with someone who was going to be famous and accidentally ended up pregnant - when Declan was like 'damn i'm gonna have a kid guess i need a real job now' and left his band to move to Duluth with her, she left him. - Slowly but surely, Roxy's finding Mrs. Knight as a maternal figure, though she's not actively searching for someone to fill that role! - Carlos, Logan, Kendall, and James are also something special to her, though, not quite found family... - Camille and Jo on the other hand... If she imagined having sisters, she thinks it would be a lot like being around them are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - yes/no/not/no or were there only peers from school? - High school friends, Mag and Dani, have been mentioned in the story already a few times! Mag, roped Roxy into joining his band during the first week of her freshman year at her first high school. Dani, the drummer, though mostly keeping to themself eventually came around to both her and Mag enough to join as well. The three of them were mostly just a shitty cover band, but as Roxy started to grow into her own (and into her feelings for Mag) she became comfortable enough to begin sharing her songs with her friends. when this backfired, she was so depressed over everything that had happened with them her father literally made her change schools between freshman and sophomore year so she'd hopefully never see them again. two weeks after the switch, she goes to the audition and her life is forever changed!

2. Carlos

How many people are in his immediate family? - His mother (Sylvia), father (Erik), and three older sisters (Maria, Lupe, and Alena). - Along with these six living under one roof, his grandparents (unnamed, mom's side) live in one of those duplex houses with them How many people are in his extended family?/Does he have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - Carlos just has the biggest fucking family on the planet, he couldn't name everyone even if he tried. he and his sisters combined couldn't name everyone if they tried! they all meet once every few years to check up on each other, but rarely hear from them outside of that. since they're so large of a family, they're spread out across the US, though he's the first Garcia to settle in California! Who in his family is he closest with? - His dad! If not evidenced from chapter 8, he and his father get along the best. they match each other completely in energy and ideas, and having four girls living with them meant they often had to band together when they ganged up on each other. Is he close with his birth family, or does he have a found family? - Why have one when we can have BOTH! He's close with his immediate family, and sees Logan, James, and Kendall as an extension of this. They're his brothers!!!! Forever!!! Always!!!! are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - no/yes/not/no or were there only peers from school? - Carlos is just such a sweetheart he's got so many friends from school because everyone loves him! While he never got as close to anyone as he did Logan, James, and Kendall, he did value the friendships he made in Minnesota and I imagine he texts his other friends randomly like "had some caramel coffee today, your favorite! miss you!" and "i'll guest list you for the duluth show, let me know if you can make it"

3. Kendall

How many people are in his immediate family? - I see his situation nearly identical to Roxy's with the addition of a sister! - Jennifer and Katie are the only members of his immediate family. How many people are in his extended family?/Does he have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - 0... I think Jennifer lost her parents at a pretty young age and went through the foster care system which is why she's so overprotective and doting on her own children. She knew what it was like to love and lose, and really wanted a family of her own so her own children would never have to feel the same way. Who in his family is he closest with? - Katie! From the minute he could teach her to scheme, they've been thick as thieves. They know each other so well they might as well be able to communicate via telepathy at this point. Is he close with his birth family, or does he have a found family? - Re: Carlos are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - no/no/not/no or were there only peers from school? - The hockey team! Like he grew up playing with Logan, James, and Carlos I think he's been around those guys for so long they're really good friends of his. I don't think they really keep in contact all that much, but he can see what they're up to on ScuttleButter and will comment on posts etc

4. Logan

How many people are in his immediate family? - His moms, Joanna and Sabina, are the only members of his immediate family. - Another fun fact: In the original draft, Logan had a little brother named Percy! I tried to work him into the story but then it got way too Logan-centric and eventually I just forgot Percy existed at all a la Tina from That 70s Show, so I just took him out entirely. How many people are in his extended family?/Does he have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - I think Joanna's family keeps in contact and she has both her parents and a few siblings with one or two kids around Logan's age! They're not Duluth local, but they see each other a few times throughout the year and Logan does his best to keep in contact with them, even if they are on the jerky side of the jock spectrum. I think they all play hockey too :) -Sabina's family didn't keep in contact after she came out :( but she was gladly accepted into Joanna's family, so that counts for her extended family! Who in his family is he closest with? - Sabina... She's a pediatric doctor! Through their shared love of medicine, she inspired him to want to pursue his own career in medicine! Though, I'd say he's just as close with Joanna, too, because she's a hockey head! I can't decide lol :) Is he close with his birth family, or does he have a found family? - Logan, while not their bio son, was adopted practically the second he was born and his bio mom needed to put him up for adoption, so he considers his moms his birth family. As seen, they're very close. Also re: Carlos and Kendall on found family <3 are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - yes/yes/moderately/yes or were there only peers from school? - re: Kendall, though I imagine Logan is the kinda guy to be in like 40 different clubs too - he's got friends from chess club to AV club to DnD club... How many people are in his immediate family? - From what he considers, his mother, Brooke, even if they don't really get along. His dad, Blake, and his girlfriend, Penny, are just... There. And he has to stay with them sometimes. How many people are in his extended family?/Does he have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - Brooke cut her parents off once she became a successful business owner and moved to the mid-west. He has family somewhere on the east coast, but he wouldn't know how to go about contacting them... He also doesn't really care. - Wanting as little to do with Blake as possible, James tends to avoid family gatherings on that side, but he has two grandparents over there. Penny also has her parents and a sister, but he hates seeing them too. Anything relating in anyway back to his father is something he tries to ignore. Who in his family is he closest with? - By default, Brooke, but only because he doesn't have other options. Is he close with his birth family, or does he have a found family? -Found family all the way. Kendall, Carlos, Logan, Jennifer, and Katie mean the world to him! And of course, the new girl who followed him across the country to help his dreams come true does too... though, he doesn't consider her to be family... - Don't get it wrong, he loves his mom, just... He'd rather be around his friends... are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - yes/no/not/no or were there only peers from school? - In a similar vein to Carlos, James is just so charismatic he draws other people to him unintentionally. How many people are in her immediate family? - Her father... She's also a child of divorce to me, so her mother and older sister are in the picture... Just... Also not because her parents separated when they were practically babies. It's where her jealousy issues come from... Her mom cheated on her dad so he split and got Jo in the custody battle and her mom got her sister and moved away from North Carolina. That's why it was so easy for them to up and leave their home state and start a new life in Los Angeles + it was better for his government job. How many people are in her extended family?/Does she have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - She's got grandparents, two uncles, and a few cousins! They helped her dad through the divorce, and Jo is much closer with them than she is her mom and sister. Who in her family is she closest with? - By default, now, her father, though before she left NC, her grandmother! She taught theater at her local high school and inspired Jo to move out to LA to chase her dream <3 They still talk almost every day, too. - Now I'm retconning my own story and saying she's on the phone with her grandma in the chapter where Kendall is trying to woo her LMAO Is she close with her birth family, or does she have a found family? - Birth family for sure, just her dad's side! - Though, as time goes on, Camille and Roxy are starting to feel like sisters! (Good sisters, that is, not shitty older sisters who only call on her birthday) are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - no/yes/moderately/if she remembers to call them on holidays or were there only peers from school? - I imagine Jo was moderately popular in school and had a good lot of friends, similar to Carlos' situation at his school. She got along with everyone, but was never really close to anyone enough to keep talking to them once she moved.

7. Camille

How many people are in her immediate family? - Her mom and dad, and her FIVE older brothers. Yeah. - I never gave her parents names, but her brothers (from oldest to youngest) are Gabriel, Jean-Luc, Elliot, Claude, and Jules How many people are in her extended family?/Does she have aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc? - She has no clue, considering it was such a hassle to travel with six children her parents just never did, outside of their annual camping trip. So, she's never met all of her family, but she knows she has grandparents, a few aunts and uncles, and a small army of cousins. Who in her family is she closest with? Her closest in age brother, Jules! Before she and her dad moved to Hollywood in her pre-teen years, he was the last remaining brother living in her childhood house before moving out when she was 11. Though their primary mode of communication is through the phone, they talk pretty regularly and are able to match each other's energies well. When she get's all crazy, he always knows what to say to calm her down. Plus, he loves Logan... Can't wait to meet the guy... So Camille loves talking to him! Is she close with her birth family, or does she have a found family? - She's close with her birth family, but since she moved away from them as a young girl, she doesn't really feel all that connected to them. They feel more like extended relatives than immediate relatives, but it doesn't bother her! Everyone in her family loves her, even if they do think she can be a bit over the top sometimes. - Before going to her family about important things, however, Camille finds herself rushing to Jo and Roxy <3 are they only children?/do they have any cousins their age they hung out with before hollywood?/how close are they/did they keep in contact? - no/yes/not/no or were there only peers from school? - She's got her friends from the Palm Woods school, considering she practically grew up with most of the kids in that classroom, but she's never felt closer to anyone than she has Jo, Roxy, Logan, Kendall, Carlos, and James.

TWO. sadeas had a physically abusive father and a neglectful mother and honestly had to raise himself. it really was every man for himself/every woman for herself in the sadeas household growing up and sadeas was for sure not above ratting out his siblings or framing them so they recieved his fathers ire instead of him. despite this he and his older younger sister (he had 3 siblings: one younger sister who was like 3 or 4 years younger than him, one younger sister who was like 9 or 10 years younger than him, and one baby brother who was born just before his dad died when he was 15) stayed pretty close and she scribed for him before he met ialai. sadeas eventually sent out a letter dictated by his sister to gavilar and dalinar when he heard that gavilar and dalinar were looking to unify alethkar that was like i am sympathetic to your cause but my father the highprince is not. please dispose of him and i will be your greatest ally. and dalinar did murder him gruesomely and i think that is a large part of why sadeas was down bad for dalinar at first. because he managed to get rid of the biggest stressor in his life that he had been dealing with hiswohle life. also i think sadeas is like the third or fourth torol and its because his dad also primarily went by torol that he likes to be called sadeas. keeps a distance from the piece of shit bastard yknow?

THREE he met ialai because she was a friend of his younger sister's, he was immediately smitten by how frankly she talked about killing people and getting rid of them. sadeas likes a bloodthirsty bitch. and it was like. really weird for him yknow? because he had never felt this way about a woman before. before this literally everyone he ever got horny about was a man. all his crushes were on men all his lustful jackoff sessions were about men literally his whole sexuality was men. except now theres ialai. and theres two ways you could look at it and im fond of both. one. ialai was comphet. you just know sadeas didnt have many female friends etc that he wasnt related to. hes not exactly womanrespecter9000 ill tell you that much. and so sadeas meets a woman who he actually gets close to and goes This Must Be Love and treats it as such and marries her even though he later realizes he is not attracted to her and this marriage is simply politically convenient. the secontd option is that he really truly is bisexual and he is really truly into ialai however his flavor of bisexualityis susch that he is like99% attracted to men 1% attracted to women and that woman is ialai. homoflexible if you will. although all this being said i do not think that even keeping in mind that roshar doesnt really have those labels sadeas even if handed modern day framework for all that stuff would still choose not to label himself. because one the hassle of deciding am i really into women or is ialai just bangin (question i ask myself on the reg) is just not high on his priority list of issues to solve two i dont think he would align himself with any queer community. he just fucks dudes he doesnt want to be involved with any pride in fucking dudes. yknow? thats my hot take. is sadeas gay or bi? its none of our fucking business and im not even sure if he knows.

10 years later....

Holy fuck... discovering this page 10 years later..... I actually forgot how depressed and fucked up in the head I was.....

Hi. This is my letter to myself, to the girl that wanted to end her life, to the girl that self harmed to get by, and to the girl who saved herself because that was the only person who could.

No one else could have saved me. Only I could. Boys/Men were an unhealthy coping mechanism for my daddy issues. Non one could save me but myself. So that’s what I did after I hit rock bottom.

I don’t know if I will ever share what got me to the point of rock bottom, I will let you take the guesses and I will not confirm or deny. But it shook me to my core and made me realize I had to get my shit together. I hate that that had to happen but I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for that really shitty situation and a really shitty guy......

I will admit, a few days ago I saw safety pins and I wanted to run it across my wrists, I have wondered if life could be better if I was not here, I have accidently cut my wrists on things.... and have liked it...... it is nothing, NOTHING like it used to be when I was a teenager and my very early 20′s. And I sometimes wonder if it never truly goes away.... You just have to choose yourself and dig deep inside yourself to find out what you really want, and if you want to live or take your own life......

I chose to live. I didn’t think I would make it to 30 though, I did.... I am here. turned 30 this year in April (2022). god this space still feels so safe to me some how 10 years later.... fricken wild....

30 was an emotional birthday, especially having a distant family member commit suicide on my birthday... that was so eyry for me.... almost a full circle moment. It made me sad, it always makes me sad when people don’t get better or find a way to cope in a healthy way. I am still trying to find healthy ways to cope...... I also recognize everyone’s mental disorders/diseases are different and some are worse than others.

I wouldn’t say I got myself out of it all.... I just learned how to manage it better and focused on the good more than the bad..... OH! and I don’t live with my abusive/alcoholic father anymore, that sure did help. Him and I actually have a good relationship now. But I swear its only because I am older, I don’t live under the same roof as him and our last bad fight when I was 21 I right hooked him in the face..... couldn’t take anymore of his shit.... I also did that in front of my now husband.....

I don’t know what else to say... so that’s all for now.... I just needed to say something after scrolling through this page and realizing how bad things were for me and wanting to give that girl a hug. So glad I am on the other side.....

Dawson Family

Hihi! welcome to my first post and first family. today im gonna be talking about my favorite sims family, the dawsons!

its a family that me and my bestie @maddy-plays-ts4 share together, and we both have our interpretations for them. my ocs are the two boys and hers are the two girls.

this guy here is jack! i estimate him to be in his early to mid 30s and yes he’s very dear to me :). he is very much a “i love my wife” kinda guy and he’s a chef in this game! in my head, he’s supposed to be a model, but im broke so i guess thats not an option for him here :| He’s very romantic, loyal and he’s a bit of a goofball especially to his kids that he really adores. he’s a pretty chill character and he never causes me any issues.

this here is andre! i estimate him to be maybe 7-10 years old? im not too keen on being super accurate. anwyays, he is the older of the two dawson kids and he’s a shy little guy. he’s very creative and artistic and a bit of a loner. he doesn’t really like talking that much and his family respects him and his not wanting to talk all that much

this is elisabeth or lissie for short! she’s a year younger than andre and she’s maddy’s oc! her traits include social butterfly and cheerful! overall i consider her to be a bit of a hyperactive girl who just loves her family, friends and bonding with animals. (if maddy wants she can go more in depth about her since i dont actually know too much)

last but not least we have rose! jack’s favorite person in the world :)) and maddy’s other oc in my town. rose is a music lover, enjoys the outdoors and is very loyal to jack (considering that she’s demi-sexual). however, i have beef with this woman because she had somehow decided to cheat on her husband that she loves very much with seemingly no one and i, as their god, was not happy about that at all. luckily i’ve started a new save file and this time i am determined to make sure she does not cheat because jack deserves better #justiceforjackdawson.

i think a point im trying to make with myself lol is that i really should start reading the print novels i’ve bought extensively. i am definitely at the point where they are both readable/understandable overall without a dictionary, and where my reading speed for them isn’t that much slower than in english (and if we’re honest here... if i make myself speed read in chinese there’s a fair chance its faster than my english reading, if the speed really bothers me... also when the hell did my english reading speed get so slow? idk i think as i got older i got self indulgent about savoring things i like and dwelling in them tbh). my point is, if its a matter of struggling to follow the plot, or reading ‘intolerably’ slow, i have surpassed those points. so they aren’t reasons to avoid my print books anymore.

the only exception is maybe Poyun, Sha Po Lang, and Can Ci Pin, which are probably above my reading level a little bit. According to that zhtool website i’m reading extensively at about 1.8 (with lower numbers being more difficult), and most of the novels i own are 1.8 or easier (with the exception of the 3 listed above). So my dmbj novels, the gyadl novel, the LiuLi novel, modu, zhenhun, saye, hell even the mdzs novel i have in traditional characters i could probably do right now (i have zhenhun in simplified and traditional and figure i’ll read the traditional to re-remember/get used to recognizing some traditional hanzi i forgot or am not used to yet). Related... i saw a new dmbj novel for sale that looks like slice of life old man iron triangle side stories in the village and i’m very... tempted to buy... but i should probably buy reboot novels first (i have the first set of dmbj novels in print, then the 10 Years Later novel). To be fair, all the dmbj novels are online too (so im not worried about missing some).

Maybe i will finish this fanfiction i’m reading, then move onto a print book for a while. usually i read digitally for the automated-audio, but since i haven’t been using that lately and my listening comprehension is getting ignored Anyway, there’s no huge difference for me between using print novels or online ones. Eventually i WILL listen to audiobooks and get some listening reinforcement, will listen to chinese spoonfed audio again for listening gaps, and when i run into new Frustrating words when reading in print i do sometimes look them up and get the word’s pronunciation. so my reading to listening gap is more like “oh no i kept reading 晕 yun as hun for 200 pages (which is easy to pick up the correction when listening), or 小心翼翼 xiaoxinyiyi as xiaoxinweiwei” (yeah idk where my brain guessed the wei pronunciation either).

also @a-whump-muffin i finally kind of get what you mean when you said manga were sometimes harder than novels. i’ve been reading more manhua lately just because i’ve been in the mood, and even though generally i know MORE of the hanzi i see (like 99%), unknown words give me less context to work with. Whereas in novels i can see a lot more unknown words and hanzi and still figure out the plot and a decent portion of the details. since there’s usually like a paragraph per main-detail to elaborate on things. i read some of 你的距离 and its easy enough to follow the plot based on pictures (its about a guy who broke up, looking for someone new on app dating), but a lot of the specific-dating-app words i do not know in chinese and i could Guess what words i was seeing but i wasn’t sure specifically what a LOT of them actually were. Whereas when i read a novel i’ve got like 2-5 surrounding sentences to figure out if ‘vague word’ means specifically speaker or microphone or headphones (when in the given sentence itself any of the words could work). in a manhua its like “well this means something related to ‘match’ but i only have one line about it so who knows specifically what this meant if i see it later in another piece of writing, it could mean ‘paired’ ‘match’ ‘compatible’ ‘selected’ etc).

“Oh, sorry!”

I had this idea at four in the morning, and it’s 4:15…so, yk how it goes. I’m thinking this could be a series.

Summary: you quite literally run into an infamous Weasley while on the train to Hogwarts.

Warnings: prob some cringe worthy moments and fluff, Im also American so Ill rephrase stuff, but otherwise, no.

Excited, nervous, anxious, happy...all words for what I was feeling about this school year. On my eleventh birthday I was sent an owl, no joke. An owl flew up to my kitchen window with an envelope in its mouth while Mom and I were making cookies. The envelope happened to be a letter from Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school of magic. Mom and I were shocked, so we followed the letter’s directions and the next thing I knew this guy named Rubeus Hagrid was leading Mom and I to a place called Diagon Alley. There were so many magical shops including Ollivander’s which held my very own wand that I will have for the rest of my life. 14 inches of beautiful, silvery-white, aspen wood with a unicorn hair for a core. It’s already my closest friend aside from the white Eurasian Eagle owl I bought from the Magical Menagerie. I named him Pogonip, or Pogo for short. After I got everything, Mom and I went home to get ready for King's Cross the next day.

I start walking to platform 9 with Mom and see a ginger lady sending off her kids by telling them to run through the wall between 9 and 10. I don't know what to think so I say one final goodbye to my mother and off I run through the wall. I appear in a crowded area where kids are getting on a train called the Hogwarts Express. This is it, I think, I'm going to Hogwarts.

I board the train with Pogo and find a compartment to sit in. I decide to go to the bathroom once the train's pulled out and on my way back I run into a blur of red hair. "Oh, sorry!" a voice says to me, the weight had actually knocked my light ass onto the ground. "Are you alright?" the voice asks me. I respond with a muttered “yes” as the surprisingly strong arms help me up to my feet. When I regain my vision completely I see a very handsome boy about my age, by the looks of it, scanning my face for bruises or whatever might appear on my complexion. “I’m Fred,” says the freckled ginger, “Y/N,” I respond.

Fred offers to walk me to his compartment where I am greeted with another ginger that is obviously his identical twin. Which one was older or more sane, I couldn’t tell…yet. “Y/N met George, George, Y/N,” Fred says as he opens the sliding glass door for me. I meet George’s gaze and realize that George has stony, cold, blueish-grey eyes, while Fred has warm, chocolate-brown ones. I learned quickly not to let his eyes deceive me; George seemed more devious and silly than Fred which was saying a lot. Fred appeared almost shy next the younger twin. “So, Y/N,” George begins, “did the letter come as a shock to you?” Fred elbows George lightly, but hard enough to make George let out a slight grunt. I didn’t know of this was supposed to be rude or anything, so I took the safest route possible and answered with a “yes”.

*later at Hogwarts for the sorting. We’ll make Y/N a Gryffindor just fro the sake of the story line…and in case I make this a series😏. She’s gotten to know the twins very well by this point*

I walk with the twins and all the other first years to Gryffindor common room. My new home, I think to myself. My new family for the next seven years, actually scratch that, my new family forever. The thought gives me this feeling that I can’t figure out the name of. It’s not a bad feeling, though, so I don’t worry about it too much. After the three hour train ride, I’e gotten to know the Weasley twins quite well…especially Fred. Have I started to grow feelings for him? Maybe, do I know yet? Im pretty sure I do. Will I let that get in the way of our new-found friendship? Absolutely not, it might just be a crush. I guess I’ll wait and find out.

“So, how you doing Midget?” I already know it’s Fred, he developed that name in the first 20 minutes we met. It’s been almost a week since that wonderful, anxious, nerve-wracking day that I would pay anything to go through again. “I’m alright, Ginger,” I didn’t make that name up until now, I just wanted something to retaliate with. “Ginger? Since when was that my name?” He asks. “Since now,” I say. He smirks at this, I think he thinks it’s some sort of game I’ve managed to make up in my abnormally large brain; I’m currently excelling at everything, including Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts which my professors were not expecting. “Alright,” he says, lightly slugging me in the shoulder. If he thinks it’s a game, then let the games begin…
