law idea: products that are not currently and will not be purchasable from the parent company for the foreseeable future are not counted as "copywritten" in regard to the sharing, reproduction, and other "piracy" claims in court of law.
if you aren't selling them your customer doesn't have to buy
this is in regards to all copyright, if someone starts a factory producing clones of iPhone and iMac chips for the purpose of repairing devices, that's not copyright infringement, because apple does not sell those chips :)
if they want to keep their copyright they can put their repair chips on the public market, continue matinance of old products, etc
Nintendo will hate this law the most I'm sure.
widows is surprisingly robust to this law as you can actually buy every copy of windows ever produced right now on windows website, albeit you might have a hard time finding it because they'd PERfer you didn't.
streaming companies dropping original content from their service for tax purposes can expect to find it on YouTube the next day for free no ads
I think you all will be able to see how this will have a hotting effect on the market, where as now copyright holders have the power to delete content from the legal sphere, under this law they cannot do that. they can sell it themselves or they can give it away for free.
no more manufactured scarcity for the sake of inflating already inflated prices

So, like, universal basic income.
One of the things I’ve heard people say is how, you know, you need income as a motivation to make people work. And I’ve heard some great arguments against that.
But also.
There are a lot of low-paid jobs that actually make the world a crappier place. Like, if we could just pay everyone in the fast fashion industry to stay home and not go to work, the world would be a much better place. If we paid people enough that they didn’t need to work in factories, then large-scale manufacture of crappy stuff wouldn’t be feasible anymore.
Like, we’re basically in a post-scarcity society. We have more than enough food and clothing for everyone. This manic capitalist mindset where we force people to go to jobs they hate to remove value from the world is insane, right?
And maybe if we instituted this we’d lose fast food corporations and stuff. But I bet they’d be replaced by small restaurants run by people who are passionate about what they do.

i don't know what else to tell you it's a pretty self contained thought
sometimes you're raised in a high-stress environment being brainwashed from childhood to believe the only thing that matters in life is being a fucked up little detective so to encourage you they pit you against a sexy hot sexy sexy hot sexy guy who hates you passionately because you're slightly better than him at this arbitrary academic thing but also not really because growing up in the same house bonds you as a family whether either of you like it or not which in turns adds a heaping dose of affection to the whole complicated one-sided rivalry thing that is mostly just annoying to you and you think is beneath you but really you probably only think that because you're winning at becoming an L replacement My Sweet Audrina style something that is normal to want and possible to achieve. and then you hit puberty and suddenly getting shoved into walls comes with an unbearable amount of sexual tension due to the aforementioned high-stress high-competition insulated environment because you don’t interact with literally any other peers with like different outlooks on life outside this YA dystopia-ass school so the combination of claustrophobic familial love and this manufactured personhood scarcity which leads to these insane life or death stakes that are definitely giving you lifelong complex ptsd while being hotboxed in raging teenage hormones permanently rewire your neural sexual pathways and now you only care to get off if he’s manhandling you a little and you’re going to make it mello’s problem. you become responsible forever for what you have psychosexually spawned or whatever saint-exupéry said in the little prince. what’s not clicking

Capitalism is ruining the internet. In lots of ways, but today’s grievance:
I just wanted to know if I’m the only trans boy who wants to wear a vaginal plug just around, and enjoy the fullness while just doing things in life. And I’m not, but I had to put up with legions of non-relevant search results and install the Reddit app (I hate Reddit), to end up on a sex toy seller’s page with a review sharing my interest and experience. And that sucks.
The internet, in its essence, is a communication tool connecting people. But that communication is getting more and more degraded as companies chop it up, turn it into a place where we are speculators rather than participants, marks to be sold to, chaff to be processed. “The internet is for porn,” was a silly mantra, but it was also kinda true. The internet had many, many places people had set up to share and talk about the things they found sexy. But more and more, puritanism and Finance are invading and restricting sharing and access. And it’s not even that things are behind paywalls, though that’s also a palpable presence. Credit card processors crack down on NSFW content, and start squeezing sites to restrict what they host to those processors’ stipulations.
And the arguments for why don’t hold water. None of it actually protects anyone, and vulnerable communities are put in more danger, as our very existence is up for “political debate”. Like, sorry, no, we as trans people deserve to be alive, and your restrictions on us receiving healthcare or even being acknowledged as existing around minors are fucking goulish. Disabilities make work/finding a job/keeping a job/financial stability in general difficult to even impossible, and are fucking expensive in the first place, and many disabled individuals turn to sex work. And there’s nothing about sex work that actually makes it more exploitative or demeaning than “regular” work. But demonizing it, making it harder for sex workers to find clients and communicate with one another to help keep each other safe puts them in so much more danger. The fear mongering and pearl clutching around trafficked individuals being coerced into sex work doesn’t help those trafficked victims, in fact it boxes them in and makes them less safe, grants them fewer paths to escape or protection from abuse, AND it presses those who weren’t coerced into tighter corners and worse situations. It gives more strength to pimps, and keeps the money, power, and freedom out of the hands of the people who need it.
And oh, “If I were in a bad Situation, I would simply Not Be a Sex Worker,” except, brainiac, there’s no fuckin social safety net. This garbage capitalist system is working exactly as designed, work or be homeless, work or don’t eat, work or don’t get the medicine you can’t live without, work or just fucking die. Sick? TOO BAD. Injured? TOO BAD. Chronic pain? TOO BAD. “Stop being weak, clearly you deserve to die, if you just can’t cut it.” That’s the message we all hear, loud and clear, every fucking day.
And none if it has to be this way! There is no reason for any of it. We have enough. We have plenty. Literal tons of food tossed into the ocean to keep prices up, while people literally starve. Homes kept absolutely fucking empty at an appalling scale while people live homeless. It’s disgusting, and it’s totally avoidable. All this scarcity is entirely manufactured. We have enough. We have more than enough. And it can be so much better. But we need to tear down the structures keeping us apart, keeping us weak, keeping us tired, and starving, and in fear. Because those structures of power are our enemy. Because whether we fight or are compliant , they’ll kill us either way.

Look, $80 for three games might seem reasonable, especially knowing that $80 is a discount and they're selling them separately for a total of $120.
But there's no new maps, as far as we know, no advertised new content. Whether or not they remade the music has yet to be seen. The graphics aren't remade, just up scaled, with a very basic font choice on the simplest UI, which is all together readable but feeling divorced from the original aesthetic, and ugly.
The adaptation of moving the map, and making it usable without a second touch screen, is something that you could probably adapt in maybe a week and it's something your average emulator can do for free.
Now, that last point is technically unfair. It's something you could do in a week, but I don't think that's the case in this instance. That would imply they weren't already working on an engine for a new Etrian Odyssey game for Switch, which Atlus has been hush about but confirmed they've been playing with for awhile now, and it would take nothing to use that engine for this remake. Essentially just lifting and inserting up scaled assets. It's monotonous work for sure, but it's nothing difficult.
And it's digital only, $80 for something like this that's digital that you can have taken away from you at any moment by the person selling it to you is just gross.
So at the end of the day, the $80 price tag is paying for either a game you've never been able to experience before, because you never had access to the original or emulation wasn't an option, or you're paying $80 for a handful of new portraits and either the comfort of playing on your TV or mod support on your PC.
Either way, we already have enough price inflation in the game industry as it is. I personally would have priced the collection together at $40, but $60 is a much more reasonable price in the current industry for what you're getting.
I'm not telling anyone not to buy the game, I just hate to see people defending greedy corporate acts. Atlus isn't some tiny indie studio, it's one arm of the biblically accurate corporate angel that is Sega, and is just preying on manufactured scarcity and nostalgia.
So in conclusion.

ngl i thnk RV haven't been perfoming as well as before with these past few releases (and most ppl seem to be asking for another Pyscho or Dumb Dumb (i think)) and hopefully that'll send SM a message they can understand (money), but also being realistic theyll probs just decide RV isnt profitable anymore and put them in the basement lmaooo but nah its kind of bleak how SM is hellbent on fucking up their groups, and even bleaker how some fans will just buy Anything. Like personally if the choices are 'keep buying RV albums cause if we dont support them theyll dsband' and 'say goodbye to RV' catch me streaming The Perfect Velvet as I cry and look for a new fave artist.
i don't keep up with charting at all so idk the specifics of every release but i remember queendom charting crazy high for some reason 🙄 and with birthday the album broke their previous records with presales so i think even tho ppl are complaining about wanting another bad boy it's exactly like you said they want to keep the group alive and keep buying albums even if they hate it. plus the rv packaging is super pretty so im sure that helps lol.
and it's bc red velvet keep pulling in money regardless of how bland their music is that sm will keep giving them lame ass comebacks to line their pockets as they bleed dry trying to find new nct boys to recruit 😭😭😭😭😭😭 it's honestly sad. and ppl treat disbandments like it's the end of the world but so many girl groups have officially or unofficially disbanded and still came together to do revivals and anniversaries so it's not like it's a goodbye forever plus it's better imo to end on a high note than to drag the rotting shell of an iconic group around performing bad songs.
ofc if red velvet don't wanna disband it's all moot. but it's still really weird that ppl will spend every dime to fight against a disbandment they don't even know is coming. like? it's manufacturing scarcity 😭😭😭😭 it's wild. i feel like a lot of things would change if kpop fans stopped being addicted to consuming content mindlessly and actually liked these people as like artists and looked forward to what they'd do beyond being in a group you know? cuz the obsession with otx together forever dropping a comeback month after month no thought into anything just is a complete mess(((!!!!!!

New Nico Item Scalpers
Saying this with my whole chest:  I hate you.  There's NO reason I should refresh my page at exactly hour turnover and by the time I click on something, it's already sold out.  And then I head to the tradesmarket and see people selling 3 or more of the items for at LEAST 5x the price.  You suck and I hate you.
Yes, I am salty about this and the fact that COMMON ITEMS are given such manufactured scarcity.

Paying into a system that normalizes #schoolshootings, #policeshootings and shooting shootings as if it is just a natural state of life is confounding and depressing. It isn't a new phenomenon in a country born just as much on hate as it was on high minded ideals. Not even targeted well cultured hate...just hate conditioned through operating from a scarcity model while actively wasting resources at a quicker pace than cultivating growth. A form of hate that is more dangerous in how it's easily conditioned in the isolation that grows in people's spirits. Isolation built despite the world being so connected. Propagated in an anti-human culture that happily feeds on its young and manufactured minorities that .
So the outcries to vote for change, write and or plea with elected officials...it isn't enough when this IS the culture! Death, poverty, mental instability, imprisonment/enslavement, nutritional despair, panic, outrage, and such has been made profitable and passable as an everyday thing.
Usually I try to operate with a solution in mind, but there is too much evidence of money and this sick theater/ snuff film called politics taking greater precedent over people. Politics is just ORIENTATION. We all have experienced some form of orientation...what is the purpose? To get you accustomed to an environment, process, culture or way doing things...right? You'd assume politicians and the people by in large have brains, hearts, emotions, family's and a relative sense of wanting the best for them...but maybe JUST them and no one else...?
So what are we doing?
Why is equality (hold up wait...that is too broad a concept) .
Why is equity (nope no that is too esoteric and conditional).
Why Is Common Damn Sense so hard to act upon when it comes to eliminating the worse aspects of our collective humanity?!?
That's where the solutions get fuzzy, because we also live in a country and world that gleefully denies people's humanity as class distinction is how they derive their comforts (built via the mythology of race or religion or gender or hue etc.). Then you try to deal with that darkness in the hearts of what feels like the majority who, whether willfully or not, are ignorant of their own cognitive dissonance to the degree that the shared dissonance becomes harmony.
We are adaptive beings capable of creating and surviving damn near anything. Yet, this is what is CHOSEN. Over and Over and Over...
Peace to all taken from this world violently, senselessly and without cause as well as the hearts left to deal with it.

Three Dead Niggas (A Lesson in Respectability Politics)
I
I live my life like a contortionist
Make the most with what little
The white folks gave us
Always keep my head down
Always keep my nose clean
Raised a good Christian family
I work a good union job
Six days, forty-eight hours a week
I've never asked for a hand out
Never took more than I needed
We just want to live our lives in peace
II
I stack my paper to the mother fucking ceiling
Did all the shit you niggas couldn't do
Drove the hottest whips, smashed the baddest bitch
Popped bottles in the clubs you couldn't get into
My niggas hustled, we got it out the mud
We flipped bricks till we built an empire
Wrote our legacies in blood
Crime scenes looking like a Jackson Pollock
Designer jeans, designer shoes designer bitch, designer wallet
Let a nigga try me, see what the fuck I do
I'll slap that hate out your mouth boy
Better realize who the fuck you're talking to
III
I read Marx and Du Bois
I read Malcolm X and Baldwin
I know class consciousness
I know capitalism
I know that not all cages have bars
I know my rights
Your money don't motivate me, scare tactics, manufactured scarcity
Your money don't motivate me, I know I can't buy my way out of poverty
But none of that matters
Because bullets
Don't discriminate
And in America
Niggas die everyday

Game 34
As of yet, there’s no proof that there’s going to be a 34th game. Her Interactive has answered a few fans and said that they were working on a game, but who knows what that really means? To get a semblance of an idea, let’s do a deep dive.
Starting with the past couple of weeks, HeR is selling all of the physical copies of their games, as well as some other products (like their physical puzzles). I watched a YouTube video that said that while this may seem like a bad sign, it might not be. For starters, many of the physical games have been sold out for literal years because they only make a set amount of physical copies. When they run out, that’s it. So this isn’t a completely new thing. However, they are doing a mass sale. On the one hand, it could be a last ditch effort to get whatever money they can before calling it quits. But on the other, it could mean that they are trying to make the best financial decision that they can think of. Story Retold (LJ), on YouTube, works for Her Interactive and commented on that video in early April.
The most accurate explanation is that we at HeR Interactive wanted to celebrate the month of April as Nancy Drew’s anniversary. 💜 We made it themed as collectibles but yes, once the physical units sell out, we don’t make anymore. :(
I personally don’t believe that that is the only reason. It makes sense that they want to honor Nancy Drew’s anniversary (the first book came out in April 1930), so maybe that’s why they chose this month? But I feel like that can’t be the only reason.
I agree with Nancy Drew Walkthroughs on YouTube that Her Interactive probably has to pay for storage to keep physical items, so by selling the games, they won’t have to pay for the storage. They’ll also be making money off the games that they otherwise would not be making money from. As we have learned with the pandemic, and as marketers have known for decades, having people panic is a really effective way to sell something out. It’s why so many websites will have flash sales, the biggest words will be “for a limited time only,” and sometimes they’ll tell you how many copies of the product there are left, how many people have it in their carts, or they’ll say “hurry now, less than 50 left!” Even if you realistically had a long time to buy that product or the company actually has a lot of the product left, they create artificial scarcity and manufacture panic so that you’ll make impulse purchases. While it feels kind of slimy, it is effective when done right. And, correct me if I’m wrong but, I don’t think that Her Interactive has really done this before. So it seems like they might be stepping up their marketing which could be a good sign for the company.
I think this could be the company taking a step in the right direction to make everything digital. Although I absolutely love having physical copies of the games and other memorabilia, I also think that we are living in an increasingly digital world, and it only makes sense for them to get with the times. Go digital, spend less money on making physical games, etc. So many laptops these days don’t have CD/DVD drive, so many of their older games (and their newest game) have issues which can be especially hard with a disc, and so many stores don’t sell the physical games anymore. With a smaller, probably not very wealthy, company, it makes no sense for them to waste money on this. Like I said, I love collecting the physical copies, but I don’t really use them, and younger people coming across the games will probably go for the digital version, probably even buying it directly from Steam. (Which kind of a side note, kind of related, this article on Her Interactive is really interesting. It mentions that HeR kind of fought putting their games on Steam, because Steam took too big of a cut of their money. But I do think that that’s better than not having any of your games sell. And if they’re going completely digital, and almost all of their games are on Steam now, it seems like maybe they’re modernizing and progressing.)
While this could be a bad sign and I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, I do have some hope that it might actually be a good sign that they are finally getting smart.
Another thing that could either be worrisome or a good sign is that they changed offices. In another video from that same YouTuber, he talks about how Her Interactive still has the address that they’ve had for years on their contact page, but on their privacy policy page, they changed their address to a PO box. Plus, there’s a listing for their old office.
Obviously, this could be a bad thing, because they no longer have an office, and that just doesn’t sound good? But this also means that they’ll be saving money by doing so. During the pandemic, they’ve probably had to work at home anyway, so why pay for an office that no one is going to be in? It also makes sense, because at this point, they probably are not the ones making the games. They’re a marketing team who gives the Nancy Drew name to other companies to make the games. All of this can be done from home. LJ also commented on this video in early April, saying:
As far as I know, we are NOT going out of business. 😋 We are all remote working now, since our team (including a male) is all over the U.S. Our work is digital, so it’s an easy change.
Something else that he talks about in that video is that they changed the layout of their website. He points out that it costs money to pay someone to change a website, especially where it seems like multiple details have changed. Hate it or love it, you have to admit that the website is more sleek, modern, and just a different vibe to what it was before. Why would they put in the money for a website and company that’s going to be dead soon?
Lastly, he discusses the company’s change in advertising. I hadn’t even noticed the change (mostly because I don’t look at what they post; I only come across it if it’s posted by someone on here), but when he pointed it out, I did see the difference. The picture advertisements that they post are better quality (not necessarily in content, but in size and resolution). They’ve also changed the font that they use, they’ve ditched the logo, and they use random pictures as well. Regardless of whether it’s good or effective or not, it is a change. Here are two examples (one, two) from the past two years, and here are two examples from the past two weeks (one, two).
This change in marketing is also in line with their Facebook posts. Facebook is the social media that they are most active on when it comes to engaging with fans, at least from what I have seen in the past. But at least since January, they didn’t respond to any comments until they announced that they were selling out all of their physical copies. They didn’t respond to too many questions, but they responded to a few, for the first time in literal months. If they were shutting down, why would they start caring about answering fans’ questions now?
I also found information about some of the stuff that HeR has been doing in the past 2 weeks. I don’t have an account on the website so I can’t see all the information, so I don’t know what was blurred out. I also can’t see any other “scoops” about them, so I don’t know what they’ve done in the past, and I don’t know if this amount of activity is normal or more or less than they usually have. But the company has been doing a few things here and there, so as I keep saying, maybe this is a good sign.
With all of this being said, it seems like Her Interactive might not actually be going under. We can’t be sure, but we can have a little bit of hope. But even if that is true, just because they’ll still be a company, does that mean that they are going to make any more games?
I honestly don’t know. There isn’t much information out there about game 34,  but I will still compile the information that I’ve found here. Unfortunately, it gives us nothing other than them maintaining that there will eventually be another game.
(Timeline) TL;DR: I think that the key points are that they started saying that they were working on the game in December 2019 (as far as I can tell), but since then they’ve also said that they were planning the game. To this day, they are saying that they can’t give out any information regarding the new game yet and can’t make guarantees as to when they can release any information, let alone the game itself. The only thing LJ has seemed to say with certainty is that the next game will be made on Unity. They also have confirmed that there will be some improvements from MID, but it will be similar.
Some other tidbits from this that sound promising but probably don’t mean much: they have said that it shouldn’t take as long for future games as it did for them to make MID, they’ve mentioned that there are plans for multiple more games, that we should subscribe to their newsletter to stay up to date with any new information regarding anything (game 34 or otherwise), and LJ hopes to share news in the near future.
And other things that they’ve said that I’m 99.99% sure don’t mean anything at all: Nancy might potentially someday go on a boat in the future, LJ likes jump scares too “😉,” and Bess and George might appear in future games. (The first two are probably just jokes and fun, but the last one seems like it could be true, just because they’re in most of the games in some way or another.)
Lastly, some speculations: the next game might take place in Austria, and they might address the drama between Nancy and Ned.
Now here is the timeline.
On May 8, 2017, someone from Her Interactive said: "Yes we plan on making a 34th ND game. No is hasn’t been designed yet. Yes there will be a teaser at the end of MID, but no, we haven’t decided on what that teaser will look like yet." Obviously, it’s been years and plans can change (proven by the fact that there was no trailer at the end of MID, lol).
In December 2017, Her Interactive posted a letter about why MID was taking so long to come out. Here was the most important part:
As you may recall, we are moving to a new engine to be able to develop a game not only for PC/Mac but also for tablets, consoles, and now for the increasing popularity of augmented or virtual reality. Very exciting!  Part of us going down this path was to ensure that we have multiple platform options for future Nancy Drew titles so that all Nancy Drew game fans and those new to our games could play these amazing games no matter what their preferred device or platform.
This versatility means that the design and development of our games are even more complex than in the past. Our PC/Mac game design will work for players on the go with tablets and possibly for players that may want to immerse themselves in the mixed reality world. We are also constantly evaluating new technologies and trends in the game industry. Consequently, this is why it is taking much longer to develop this title than previous ones. This thoroughness will put HeR Interactive in a better position for the future while providing us with the tools necessary to continue to deliver amazing experiences for our fans.
On January 2, 2018, LJ responded to a comment on the blog saying, “Hello Carmen! South America is always a possibility for future game locations. However, we haven’t planned that yet. MID will be available for PC as well.”
On July 21, 2019, a Reddit fan posted a response they got from Her Interactive. They explained that they lost trust in the company and would not be preordering the game. They responded with their reasoning for the game taking so long and how it won’t happen in the future.

On October 1, 2019, they responded to a fan on Twitter saying, “Hello Grace, the consistent schedule back then was on a system that never changed or upgraded with the times. Once we get the structure of this upgraded game done, the future games will not take 4 years to make.”
On October 2, 2019, they responded to a fan on Twitter saying, “The frustration is understood. We hope to be more accurate in the future, and to regain our players' faith in the next game release.”
On October 4, 2019, they responded to a fan on Twitter saying, “Hello Lisa, we understand the frustration and loss of trust in us. Since this game was designed from the ground up, we have certainly learned a lot and will be applying our lessons to the future games.”
On October 4, 2019, they responded to another fan on Twitter saying, “Hi highly doubt the next game will take this long - since we had re-designed from the ground up in a new system this time. We apologize for lengthy delay. :(”
On November 6, 2019, two users on Gameboomers made comments:
One said that LJ said there wouldn’t be a trailer for the next game after MID, but “she did say that there were some ‘early ideas’ floating around for the next game.”
The other got an email from Her Interactive that said, “We will absolutely be releasing more games after Midnight in Salem. We cannot commit to a release schedule as of right now since all of our focus is on MID. It will definitely not take us as long for the next title to release. Four years is not the new normal.”
On December 3, 2019, Midnight in Salem was released. The end of the game didn’t have a trailer for the next as is the tradition for Nancy Drew games, but there seemed to be some drama between Nancy and Ned, and she mentioned wanting to go to Austria. A user on the Her Interactive message boards pointed out that the game was outsourced to an Austrian company so that might be the reasoning. But maybe it could be the plan for the next game.
On December 3, 2019, an article came out about the company that said, “Her Interactive has already developed a Nancy Drew VR proposal based on one of the books with a Spanish director, but it's more likely an AR project would come to market first.”
On December 17, 2019, a user on the Her Interactive message boards said that they emailed Nancy’s new voice actress who confirmed that there will be more games where she will play Nancy.
On December 29, 2019, they responded to a fan’s DM on Instagram asking if they were going to make another game to which they said. “Absolutely!  We’ve already begun!”
On January 7, 2020, LJ responded to a comment on the blog saying, “Hello Oona! Yes, we are planning on more Nancy Drew games. Can’t say when the next one will be released, yet. 🙂”

On January 10, 2020, LJ responded to a comment on the blog saying, “Hello SWhite5052! I’m not sure what the intent from our designers is for poor Ned. I’m a big fan of Nancy’s boyfriend, and I do hope we get to have him in-game someday, be Nancy’s hero and also take her out on a romantic date. 😉” I don’t think this really means anything, but I hope it means that she has hope that there will be future games.
On January 28, 2020, they responded to a fan on Twitter saying, “Yes, there are plans for more Nancy Drew games. :)” Plural?
On February 3, 2020, LJ responded to a comment on the blog saying, “Hi Jam5022! We do not have any news to share yet, but we are working on the game. 🙂”
On February 11, 2020, LJ responded to two comments on the blog:

On September 13, 2020, someone on Reddit said that there was an untitled 34th game on Wikipedia. As they pointed out, anyone can edit entries on Wikipedia. But almost 7 months later, it hasn’t been taken down.
On November 29, 2020, someone on Reddit posted LJ’s response to a YouTube comment. “Game 34 is in the works. That’s all I can say for now. :)”
On December 1, 2020, LJ responded to some comments from October 2020 on a blog post:
“Hello! Game 34 is in the works. Stay tuned for future updates and be sure to subscribe to the newsletter for when we announce news. Glad you liked the graphic!”
“Hello! No news yet to share at this time, but that we are working on it. Keep an eye out in future newsletters for future bits of information. 😀”
“Sadly, I do not have anything to share about the next game. 🙁 I hope to be able to tease out clues in the future, though!”
On December 4, 2020, LJ responded to some comments from October/November 2020 on a blog post:

“Hi Natalina! It has been a while since we have had a Twitch stream. Sadly, we do not have any news to share yet about the next Nancy Drew game. Stay tuned!”
“Hello Foundation2430, things have certainly changed since Sea of Darkness. I am limited to what we can share behind the scenes, but once I have things I can share with you about the current and future games, I will. I don’t think the next game will take 4 years. 🙂”
On December 11, 2020, LJ responded to a comment from a blog post saying, “Hi ali! We are working on the next game, but we do not have a release date for it just yet.”
On January 6, 2021, LJ responded to a comment from a blog post saying, “Hello Natalina! Sorry, I do not have any news to share about new Nancy Drew games or projects. 🙁”
On January 8, 2021, LJ responded to two comments on the blog:
“Hi Aly! The next game is indeed in the works. Sadly, I cannot share anything about it at this time. 🙁 But I do hope you have a great new year as well! I hope to share more secrets with you in the future!”
“Hello Sanjeet! Happy New Year! We do have game 34 in the works, but I cannot share anything with you at this time. 🙁”
On January 28, 2021, LJ responded to a comment on a blog post saying, “Hi Cleanna! I think Nancy spending time on a ship is a great idea, too. Hopefully, she will get to do that in the future!” I doubt that this will happen, but she didn’t have to answer it this way. I guess it was probably to create some hope.
On February 2, 2021, LJ responded to two comments on the blog:
The first response was to a fan who talked about VR where she said, “Hello Madi! Thanks for sharing your concern. We have seen others comment their worry about the graphics since they get easily sick from motion as well. We are keeping this in mind for our future games. 🙂” I don’t think that they ever really planned to do VR, but she didn’t have to add that last part. Again, I’m guessing it was to create some hope.
The second response was to a fan who asked a question on January 15th where she said, “Hi Jessica! I do not know when the next game will be released, but once I have info, I will be sure to share it!” She answered this a few days after she answered the first question, when this was the first comment on the post. I wonder if she didn’t skip it, but rather waited until she could say the right thing.
On February 15, 2021, LJ responded to a few comments on a blog post:
The first comment asked if they’ll share any information on the game this year to which she responded, “Hi Rach! I do not know when news will become available to share. Sorry!” I understand this because MID was a hot mess where they kept giving dates and time frames that they couldn’t keep. But if they’ve been supposedly working on this since November, a year should be plenty of time for them to give some information, right? That they’ll keep the same voice actress for Nancy, part of the plot, who a phone character will be, the state or country it will be set in, or something super simple. Yet she couldn’t even say that she’d give any information this year.
She also responded to someone saying, “Hi Sarah! I cannot say exactly, since the behind-the-scenes work is top secret. I hope to share news in the near future when I’m able to!” One minute she couldn’t say whether they’d give out any information this year at all, the (literal) next minute she said she hopes to share news soon.
On March 3, 2021, LJ responded to a few comments on a blog post:
“Hi Lindsay! There are plans for the future. Stay tuned for news when I am allowed to share it!”
“Aw thanks for sharing! We are indeed working hard behind the scenes here. 😉”
On March 10, 2021, LJ responded to a comment on a blog post saying, “Hello Rishi! I would love to share information about our next game, but sadly, I cannot at this time. All I can say is that we are indeed planning another game. 🙂” So they’re still in the planning stage for the next game?
On March 30, 2021, LJ responded to a few comments on a blog post:
“Hi Becca! Jump scares are my favorites, too. 😉 Sadly, I do not have any news or even a date when we will share news about the next game. 🙁” (I kept the first part, because she didn’t need to put a winky face. I’m sure this is just wishful thinking, but maybe there will be a jump scare in the new game? Lol. But she doesn’t even have a date for when she can even share news about the game.)
“Hi Grace! We are indeed working on another game. I do not have any idea when we will be sharing news about it, though.” Pretty much the same, generic response.
On April 5, 2021, Her Interactive responded to a Reddit fan on Instagram about the future game saying: “Hello lorichelter! The next game will have some improvements but will be similar to MID. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the game! Also, future games will be Mac compatible, but unfortunately we do not have plans to remaster the old games at this time. :( If we ever find a workaround for the Apple restriction of 32-bit games, we will quick to share that trick.”

One conversation on twitter that I think was very generative is how representation matters manufactured historical scarcity when there really wasn’t one.  And how it erases the actual history in favor of prestiege tv/movies. UPN alone had mad black shows on it. Girlfriends, Moesha, The Parkers, Everybody Hates Chris, In the House, The Hughleys, etc. & you know I can’t not mention how diverse 90s black movies looked bc of HU cinematographers even though ppl give credit to these yt DPs for copying them as if they’re doing something new lol.
& the other thing is that the liberal representational politics are soooo annoying. On the one hand a lot of times it doesn’t show in the work (thinking particularly of the new black vanguard photographers). & when ppl do actually bring up older media it’s always w shame like “oh wow how did we allow such blatant colorism in these shows back then” but...look at the shows on now. not exactly a bastion of treating dark skinned characters well 🥴
And everything from the stories in these shows to the career trajectories of the artists have centered white standards of success. Very aspirational & respectable vibes.
Even the LGBTers fall into this bs. Like the gays gave shape to cinematic language, created music videos, and ran underground and avant garde film which produced shit in the 60s that the str8s are still catching up to. But bc we’re “accepted” in society now all we can produce is coming out industrial complex movies and bland romances w no faggotry, stunts, and camp. smh

Manufacturers all have their own styles which is why coasters from the same company tend to look/act similar to each other. Rides of the same model are siblings, but otherwise rides of the same manufacturer are unrelated to each other. This will all make much more sense if you’re a serious enthusiast type who knows about all these differences already. I’m mostly covering the major manufacturers that I’ve thought about so far.
Wooden coasters: Yes, there are multiple manufacturers, but due to their relatively scarcity they tend to be all lumped together. In general, they tend to be more masculine in appearance, rather hairy and rugged, and shorter than thicker than many steel coasters. GCIs are very very curvy, though, almost not straight lines to be seen on them. Old wooden coasters are often very pale if painted white and less masculine than modern ones, more elegant. In general, wooden coasters are more chaotic and rambunctious than steel coasters and can be more cheeky and violent. But they also can be at risk for depression and getting nasty when heavily braked, reprofiled, or otherwise toned down. Opinions on RMC conversions are very mixed but those that have had it done so so far have greatly appreciated it since they were in absolutely miserable states. Steel coasters accept them a complementary rides(B&Ms tend to quietly dislike them though), and there is little rivalry between the two types since they have completely different niches and usually don’t compete much.
Arrow- earlier Development-era Arrows are sort of like wooden coasters, rambunctious and sometimes a little too mean but ultimately reliable, caring people and huge Disney lovers due to the company’s history with it. Mid 80s-90s Arrow Dynamics-era ones unfortunately tend to set the stereotype though. They can be rather judgemental and egotistical due to their past statuses and generally are ruder and more temperamental and either love or hate people. Later Arrows often have a strong dislike/distrust of more modern coasters, particularly B&Ms (and B&Ms feel about the same about them) due to them essentially causing their manufacturer’s demise and clashing personalities. Arrows tend to be among the leanest coasters because of their thin track/support structures, usually wirey and boney, but surprisingly tough and durable. Later Arrows age like milk and often look old than they are. They have a distinctive hard, crooked appearance and even lady Arrows can look rather masculine due to their hard edges and prominent cheekbones.
Togo- Similar personalities to Arrows, though less dislike of B&Ms and they have some distinctly Japanese customs. Also thin but sturdy like them, but with generally smaller frames and a little less angular. A bit on the quirky wacky side.
Vekoma- Older Vekomas are a lot like the later Arrows and get along well with them. They’re a bit less blocky and masculine in appearance. They tend to give people less personal space and be more extroverted and wild vs the more formulaic Arrows. Honestly, much as I unironically enjoy janky old Vekomas I haven’t thought about them a ton. Newer Vekomas and family coasters stay away from the nasty old ones and try to forget they’re from the same company lol
Intamin- Intamins vary a ton as the company has changed a lot over time. I’ll mainly focus on more modern ones here. Intamins are known for being crazy and reckless and often being injured due to their rides’ tendency for breakdowns. Most are agreeable enough people if you can get past their wild personalities, though some are/have been excessively aggressive or violent. They’re pretty neutral in conflicts like wooden coasters. Intamins tend to be trim and athletic, very conventionally attractive, though this can vary a lot given the company’s long history and variety of rides (some 80s Intamins look like B&Ms).
B&M- B&Ms tend to be serious, stubborn, and somewhat socially awkward due to many having difficulty showing expression, but very reliable and hardworking when needed. Older B&Ms are more stern and can be aggressive or violent if pushed and not always good at showing warning that they’re about to snap. Younger B&Ms (2000-on) are sweeter and can be somewhat airheaded due to being gentler coasters. As mentioned before, B&Ms avoid wooden coasters since they seem them as crude and rough (smoothness as a ride is very important to them). They don’t get along with Arrows and many other older steel coasters for similar reasons. B&Ms are very visually distinctive, as they tend to much broader and softer than others. Standard loopers (inverted and standard floorless/sitdown/standup) are typically solid but chunky, wings have longer arms and broader shoulders, flyers have slightly larger builds, hypers and gigas are big and bulky, and dive machines are broadest of all, with massive chests/shoulders but slimmer legs. B&Ms are usually visually attractive with smooth soft faces and few hard edges. Older B&Ms can look deceptively young due to how little the rides age.
Gerstlauer- Some can be unpredictable and sometimes a bit weird and irrational, can come off as a bit irresponsible and rude. Gerstlauer loopers are often very compact and deceptively muscular squirmy things. (This is mostly based on my experiences with Saw and Smiler)
Mack- Macks are agreeable if sometimes a little too chill and agreeable and can come as a little stupid. They look similar to Intamins and Gerstlauers.
RMC- RMCs in general are as wild, impulsive, and crazy as Intamins. They can be irresponsible and reckless but not always as much as Intamins (except Steel Vengeance, who’s a dumpster fire). Conversions often have a sadder inner life that they may reveal if asked about, but new build ones are just totally batshit. RMCs look similar to regular wooden coasters, but with more extreme proportions and sometimes a bit homely lol. No thoughts on RMC steel coasters since I just don’t know enough about them and there’s only two.
Pinfari- A bunch of angry short guys who will kick you in the shin.

L.A. Officials Issue Skeptical Statement On Newsom’s Just-Announced Vaccination Expansion
Tumblr media
“Our only constraint is manufactured supply,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday. “With the expectation that more supply will be made available,” he continued, “that expectation has set up a framework where today we are announcing that we are modifying, in a stair-stepped manner, our eligibility for doses here in the state.”
Newsom revealed those modifications are as follows: All people 50 and up in California will become eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine beginning April 1; Everyone aged 16 and over will become eligible on April 15.
The governor’s plans, of course, depend on what he predicted will be a sharp rise in the availability of doses. While Newsom seems confident in that, Los Angeles health officials seem less so.
Related Story
California Expanding Vaccination Eligibility To Everyone Over Age 50 On April 1, Those Over 16 Eligible On April 15
“With the State’s announcement today, it means everyone age 16 and over will be eligible for the vaccine in mid-April,” said a carefully-qualified statement on Thursday from the L.A. County Public Health Department. “Expanding vaccine eligibility over the next couple of weeks will make it easier for more people to get vaccinated provided the County receives more doses.” Emphasis on those final words is ours.
The last time the governor announced a major expansion of vaccine eligibility was on March 15, when he directed that Covid-19 vaccine appointments be made available to people aged 16-65 years old with an underlying health condition. That group comprises 4.4 million Californians.
The timing of Newsom’s expansion was awful. It coincided directly with what Marta Green — a state official tapped to oversee the third-party vaccine administrator — called a “really challenging” moment.
“When we look at the concrete information we have,” said Green, “that 3-week projection from the CDC, I hate to tell you this, it is entirely flat. There is not a single [additional] dose. Not one.”
So the governor vastly expanded the pool of vaccine-eligible Californians at the very moment the state was sure to have no additional supply. County health officials across the state expressed concerns — not for the first time.
Sacramento County, Kaiser Permanente in Northern California and, three weeks ago, Sutter Health have according to the Sacramento Bee “at varying points within the vaccine rollout expressed concerns that their supply was either unacceptably low or had dropped significantly without warning or explanation from the state.”
What’s more, while president Biden promised local health officials a three-week window on incoming vaccine supplies Newsom had, as of last week, still not provided L.A. officials with projections more than one week out.
Why are three-week projections important? Vaccination sites need to be able to have people scheduled for a number of appointments that match the number of doses coming in. Ideally, that’s a process that happens smoothly weeks ahead of time. When it doesn’t you get examples like Dodger Stadium, which can deliver upwards of 7,000 vaccinations a day, but shut down last month because deliveries didn’t match appointments. Thus the nation’s largest vaccination site had to close its gates for two days.
“This week we only received 16,000 new doses,” said Mayor Garcetti at the time. “That’s about the number of new doses we give out every single day,” he said. “That is down 90,000 from the week before. That is unacceptable.”
This week has likewise been difficult. Because of vaccine scarcity and because of the scarcity of the certainty that three-week window provides, L.A. County has administered only second doses this week, the logic there being that it is better to complete vaccinations already begun that begin those it is uncertain to be able to complete.
Asked in late February about the lack of transparency the governor said, “Next week the counties will start getting their three-week window, specifically March 1st.” That March date was when the state’s no-bid deal with Blue Shield to allocate vaccination doses and centralize appointments was supposed to take effect. Part of the company’s mission was to create an algorithm that would parse allocations across the state. The date came and went without Newsom’s promise being fulfilled. He then said March 15. That came and went, as well.
Now, local health departments across the state have rebelled against ceding authority to Blue Shield. It began with Santa Clara and then spread.
This week, Los Angeles officials said they had come to an agreement with the state — not Blue Shield — that they would work with Blue Shield, but not be subject to an agreement with the third party overlord.
So it’s understandable that today’s statement from L.A. officials is more carefully qualified than the sunnier statements from Newsom. The county’s public health department actually called out scarce supply repeatedly.
“During these times of scares [sic] supply, our priority is to ensure that residents and workers in hard hit communities are each able to get vaccinated,” said L.A. officials before putting a finer point on their needs. “As eligibility expands, we will re-double efforts to increase accessibility and availability of vaccine in communities with the highest risk and lower rate of vaccinations.”
The statement continued” “Public Health is happy to see eligibility for the Covid-19 vaccine expanded by the State…The County hopes the expansion of eligibility carries with it increased doses of vaccine coming into L.A. County. L.A. County vaccination sites continue to operate below their capacity and have the ability to vaccinate around twice the number of residents each week than our current allocation allows.”
