I love that Youtube is now feeding me videos about Sleep Token. The responses to their music is just deliciously indulgent. Apparently not a single one of these "metal fan/head reacts" guys can review any of their songs without going straight off the edge.
"Seriously talented fucking drummer. My god."
"Everyone joined the tempo drop, do you know how hard that is? Do you!?"
"The vocals. The vocals! This guy's range is insane. Are you fucking kidding me?!"
"Oh shut the fuck up. What. They're gettin' funky right now."
"Someone is going to get pregnant to this..."
Also the frequent comparison to Tool and A Perfect Circle had better make Sleep Token happy, because it should, those are insane compliments. You cherish those.

SIGNALIS SPOILERS AND WHATNOT~~
finished my second playthrough of signalis, was going for the artifact ending. then loaded my save and got the memory ending. such a good game aaaa
the memory ending made me cry, it was really heartwrenching when ariane said sorry i dont remember, i just crumpled. watching elster be so exhausted was a lot.
not really sure if i understand the artifact ending. i feel like either its really vague (on top of all the other vagueness) or if im missing something. it kind of feels like a burial of arianes memory? like elster dies and we see ariane thikning about her and elster dancing in the wrecked ship? i’m not sure. maybe someone could give me their interpretation of it?
i also found out that theres a difficulty setting and really wished i had set it to survival before my second playthrough. woulda been nice!!! I do have one more ending so i might play the game again but might also just watch it on youtube and play the game again some other time(gotta let it ruminate so i can go back in with different eyes), I wanna get all the achievements anyways.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
all in all i fucking love this game a lot. very rarely do i replay a game so soon after playing it for the first time. its really tragic i’ll never get to experience this game for the first time again, but, so it goes. its such a beautiful game i will be thinking about it for a longgggggggggggg time. ive been wanting to talk about it so badly for so long but none of my friends have played it yet kyaaa!!! >_<
its crazy to me that the game exists the way it does. the style, the mechanics, the story, the music, everything about it oozes so much passion and care and thought. very few games have made me want to stare at every part of it to figure out how they made it look the way it did (THE GAME IS SO STYLISTICALLY RICH LIKE HOIW DID THEY DO ALL THAT) and the game mechanics are so nice to my brain, everything is so tactile and clicky and inventory management and ammo management and horror stratgey and the flesh and rust and death and love and lesbians and robots and anime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
amazing game thank you rose engine, i hope they make more stuff because i really want to see it
edit:(thinking about the first time i played compared to the second. i was considerably less scared since i had a clue of waht was going on but the fear that i felt playing the first time was special to me. i really like games with stories about ‘time loops’ because the replay-ability is baked in in a cool way. especially with how the game throws information at you, viewing things again having experienced perspective shifts from information is really cool. seeing scenes again re-contextualized makes my brain go ^-^(hots quest ding sound) but going in completely blind and being afraid of everything (i especially remember being scared of the dream beach, i had literally no clue what to expect and it was nice) it all had a different flavor than the second time which is cool because i feel like i experience that kind of emotion change *with* elster. (girlie needs a FUCKING cuddle nap)
the way the game balances reality and the surreal i think is super neat. i love surrealist dream stuff a lot and i think that a video game is a super good medium for that kind of experiential stuff that really inspires me to wanna make video games. especially because then theres also this super nerdy sci fi stuff going on about robots and space regimes and magical tech(my favorite) and planetary systems and military systems and all that good shit. i similarly wanna get nerdy about stuff like military logistics while also telling a story about gay robots and girls that keep missing each other just barely in the space time continuum. i love that the game tells you a lot but also is vague and also says fuck you (affectionate) stop looking for answers and just feel it. it explains just the right amount to not feel esoteric while keeping enough vague to leave a lot up to interpretation/figure it out by playing it again/thinking about it. it plays with themes and reality and reoccuring symbolism and all that good shit that makes stories addicting to think about.) ((also one of the endings requiring beating the game once among other things that keep between playthroughs, yummyyy. games that know they are games/stories/worlds that are aware of themselves., thats good shit right there))

Spotify Tag Game
I got tagged by @sofapup17! Thank you so much 💜
The game: Put your Spotify On Repeat playlist on shuffle and post the first 10 songs!
Honestly, I'm the worst person to do this x'D I don't use Spotify all that often so right now all songs on my On Repeat list are from the Who Holds the Devil playlist I made. So this turned into less of a "what music do you listen to" and more of a "let me explain why I put these specific songs on my Who Holds the Devil playlist." BUT I guess there might be an audience for that, too?
So let's go, I guess?
___
1. Heroes Rise - Tommee Profitt, Sam Tinnez
Definitely more of a Ga On-focused song what with that whole "hero" thing he's got going on and his attempts to make a change in the world. But there are also definite hints of Yo Han in that whole "heroes never die" aspect. Because while what he did was technically illegal and he's more of an antihero than anything else, he IS definitely still a hero. And what he did will be remembered for a long time to come, if nothing else because it gave rise to new heroes (see what I did there? ;D)
This is just a very good song to convey the overarching plot of heroes and the power they hold — but also the amount of conviction and dedication it requires.
2. I Didn't Ask For This - Beth Crowley
I am OBSESSED with this song right now, specifically in relation to Yo Han. There are parts of this song that hits just right for his character, both in the original drama and Who Holds the Devil. I mean:
Take what's left Of my fractured heart Bloodstained 'cause The pieces are so sharp
*chef's kiss*
But also:
*pterodactyl screech*
3. The Sacrament - HIM
My teenage emo phase coming back to bite me in the ass x'D No, but really, there's just something with this song that vibes with the whole religious themes of The Devil Judge. And the longing, desperation, and reverence of Who Holds the Devil.
Also, I just really, really love that piano. So sue me.
4. Die For You - PENTAGON
This one is pretty self-explanatory, I feel. Very much Ga On at the start of Who Holds the Devil, desperately longing for Yo Han. It also perfectly conveys his recklessness and just how far he'd be willing to go to be forgiven for his mistakes.
5. Dancing's Done - Ava Max
Possibly added during a bit of a YOLO moment, not going to lie xD BUT, there are definitely parts of the lyrics that apply:
I wanna give into your dark temptation I wanna touch you like nobody does, oh People like you and me were born to run So where we going when the dancing's done? (Oh)
Because Ga On sure has hell wants to give in to Yo Han's dark temptation, even if he pretends that he doesn't.
6. A Little Bit Dangerous - CRMNL
Yo Han. Through and through. It also has a bit of the same cheekiness as the original soundtrack, which I like. And, I mean:
Let out of the cage, took my chains away I'm so tough to tame now Look at what you made me Look at what you made me do
7. I Want You To Want Me - Chase Holfelder
Another Yo Han song. Like, if you've read The Gentle Light? You know why this song is here. You know about the desperation and the yearning and the need. So, really, I HAD to put this on the list.
BECAUSE PINING.
8. Let Me Be Your Armor - Assemblage 23
I am SO glad this song made it onto the list because this one actually requires an explanation. It's one that might not make a lot of sense in terms of style (it definitely has a different vibe than the rest) BUT. The lyrics. The LYRICS. Like, babes. Listen to the lyrics. Listen to the lyrics ALL THE WAY THROUGH and then tell me this isn't Yo Han (as he sees himself).
This is a song I've had in my folders for literal YEARS (a friend sent it to me as a mood song for one of my OCs) and the moment I decided to make this playlist, I KNEW this song had to be on it.
9. A Dangerous Thing - AURORA
Honestly, I'm not sure if I need to explain this one all that much. It kind of speaks for itself in a lot of ways. Though I WILL say that while the dangerous thing is Yo Han in most situations, just maybe, there might be times when it's Ga On. Especially in Who Holds the Devil.
(... you'll understand after chapter 37)
10. Addicted - MONSTA X
Look. I know we haven't really gotten to that part yet, but they be horny, okay? Desperate and horny. And very much addicted to each other. What more do you want me to say? xD
(for real, though, MONSTA X sure know how to make desperate and horny songs. Mercy is even worse, in the best way possible).
___
Well, I hope that was fun! Even if it turned into an advertisement for Who Holds the Devil and the attached playlist x'D
As for tagging, I tag @shi-toyu because I know you at least use Spotify ;) And everyone else who wants to do it!

Late night musing before I pass out because I have feelings, but I hate what cring culture has done to music. Like, if I said I liked Twenty One Pilots to most people they would straight up bully me and say I'm a "normie". Every time I bring up liking TØP I feel the need to defend myself and my interests. I literally sat here in my head trying to justify my appreciation for the band and their music by being like "oh well I don't listen to their more popular mainstream stuff I really just listen to their deep cuts" like! Why am I having to convince MYSELF that it's ok to listen to music I like?? Especially with songs that were an integral part of my coping process man! I don't really know where I'm going with this, but fuck you cringe culture and music purists.

Not an anon but what's one of your favorite things about being alive right now? (and if you don't have a favorite, what's a book/movie/show/album that makes you happy to be alive rn)
oooh i love this ask, thank you!
third week of april is always very hard for me but I will say my favorite thing of being alive rn is getting to hug my cats, kiss their little heads and hear my little nadja be all grumpy in my arms and then when I put her down she'll meow in protest cause I put her down when she wanted me to. I also love that my mom is making one of my favorite meals today (lamb, gravy, green peas, roasted potatoes, etc) and that my mum hugged me really hard today. Oh also a favorite of being alive: taking warm baths while reading, drinking a cold beverage with a bunch of ice, watching tv with family, giffing, listening to music, feeling the cold refreshing air on your face.
A bit of a long winded answer but I figured why not.
A movie that makes me feel so happy to be alive every time I watch it is my favorite film, Velvet Goldmine directed by Todd Haynes. It's nuanced and full of queer culture. It has a kick ass soundtrack that I can never get enough of, and it's one of those films that just feels like a warm hug, even if the subject matter can get kinda depressing.
thank you for this ask, Jack, it really made me smile to answer this and helped me remember how good it can feel to be alive <3
