Reader x Turtle of your choice
Warnings: mentions of death, accidents, drama, tragedy
I worked thinking about the TMNT 2012 version, what version did you imagine it with?
•°•°•°•°•
Having learned so many years about the art of Ninjutsu had also given the turtles certain abilities, such as being able to communicate with people who were far, far away from their physical reach.
-Oh wow, see you early today- you spoke with a little emotion in your voice
-Yes, I suppose I needed to see you- the turtle spoke, laughing slightly -You can't imagine what we went through today- she began to speak to tell you about her day
-Well, I'm ready to listen to you, just like always- you told him as you sat down.
-Yes, just like always- added the turtle while she squeezed her hands -Just like always- she repeated again lowering her gaze
°•°•°•°•
The turtles as always were patrolling the city, stopping thieves and supporting the policemen.
But even though they were physically stronger than any human, they still had their limitations and they understood that when they met a young man.
They had saved him from some bullies who were beating him in an alley, just the presence of the turtles was enough for everyone to run away, when they helped him this little boy was not afraid of them, he had just given them a big smile full of gratitude.
Time passed and each of the turtle brothers kept in touch with that little one.
Mikey skated next to him when there was no one else on the ramps, he was the first to take him to the den where they cooked or planned pranks for the rest of the brothers, and sometimes the little one took him to places where there was an empty wall, perfect for the party boy to leave his mark of art.
Raph taught him to knit, it started as a mere curiosity of the little one but for both of them it was quite relaxing, but they didn't only do that, sometimes they got together to watch some games on a projector, when they were from opposing teams they both made fun of each other when they lost some, but when they were from the same team, the victory dance that both created was simply present.
Donnie played online video games with him, together they were the best team that could connect to the network, in addition to the genius boy being a great help when the little one had homework, and for Donnie to be able to read books from the school library It was a really pleasant experience, of course the little one always scolded him when he started to be late with the delivery date.
At the beginning Leo just tried to keep his distance, not get too involved, but over time the little boy gained his trust, both could talk for hours about Japanese culture or even watch a good anime of possibly 100 chapters or more, but the leader could Being himself, he didn't have to be a leader, he could let off steam, or even complain, and the little boy was there to listen without criticizing him, he found a little refuge next to him.
The relationship that was built with the new friend was something unique for everyone, so much so that he even gained the affection of the teacher Splinter, maybe it was because he helped him take care of some bonsai or maybe because Splinter's favorite audience to tell the stories most shameful of turtles.
The team agreed that his friendship with the human was something as unexpected as it was also special, if they needed a word to describe it it would be "Unique".
Because they knew that nothing was perfect, because they had their ups and downs.
How the arguments they had sometimes, from the fact that his friend didn't defend himself against the bullies at school
-I showed you a wrestling hold last time, why didn't you apply it?-Raph asked while he watched as Donnie healed your wounds again
-I did it the first time and they sent me to the address- he replied after complaining a bit about the cotton that rubbed on his broken lip
-That's unfair, what do they teach in the institutions? - Leo said a little outraged by what he heard
-Well, that happens when the bully is the captain of the school team- he added with a slight smile on his face.
-And with this it's over- Donnie said sticking a bandage on your forehead -And your parents haven't talked to the director?- I ask a little curious
-If he were Master Splinter, that principal would get a good ninja-style lecture- Mikey added as he ruffled his friend's hair.
-They don't have time for that, and they're never home, so... they don't notice it- I finished saying as if nothing had happened.
The boys knew about the relationship you had with your parents.
They were business people, always busy and never at home, you were always alone in your room with your books or some games.
But that changed when you met the boys, you didn't spend so much time locked in your room anymore, now you spent all your time in the turtles' den or on the rooftops.
The relationship with the boys simply grew more and more, until from that friendship arose the infatuation with one of the turtles.
It was something so unique and special, they both complemented each other.
They were the type of couple that even though they couldn't fit the definition of “perfection”, they could be called an “understanding” couple, you understood your partner's priorities, and the responsibilities they had in being a hero.
But maybe you understood it too well.If they had planned a date with your tortoise in love, and suddenly had to cancel because of some mission, normally he expected a reprimand but you just told him "Okay", there was no anger or hints behind those words. It was a good thing, or so your partner thought for a while.
That "understanding" began to make noise in your turtle's mind, so much so that she asked you to meet in the place where you became a couple.
-So... what did you want to talk about?- you asked after there was too much silence between you
-I think it doesn't work- your turtle spoke while she looked at any point of the place
-What do you mean?- you asked, trying to sound as calm as possible, but you knew what your partner was talking about.
-I mean us- he put his hand up to his neck rubbing -Don't get me wrong, I love being with you, but... We don't do anything as a couple, we don't even see each other often- he sighed to look towards the ground I didn't feel the courage to see you, I didn't even understand why I was saying that
-Oh, I understand- when you said that you noticed how your partner wrinkled his nose a little and you just played with your fingers and then smiled slightly -Can we have one last date? This weekend, what do you think?- you asked with certain hope, you didn't want things to end like this
Your turtle was about to respond until his radio rang for a security alarm, so they just agreed to agree later.
You didn't say anything, you just left until you got home and once you were in your room you just sat in a corner where you started to cry, but you didn't make a sound, not a single noise, it was just a silent cry.
You knew that asking for a date after what your partner said was something that would only hurt both of you, but you just didn't want it to end that way, maybe you just wanted one last memory of that relationship.
The days passed until the weekend arrived, they had agreed to meet in a nearby building in Times Square.
You had arranged yourself as on your first date, it generated a bit of nostalgia.
The moment of that day came to your mind, how your turtle was so nervous that it got tangled up with its own words, you even remembered how because of the nerves some things that your turtle prepared had fallen to the ground, you remembered everything and you could not help but laugh slightly , you only remembered the moments that followed afterwards.
There were not many as you thought but each one you remembered with great affection.
But when the phone rang you only saw the message from your turtle, he had another important mission, so the appointment had been cancelled, you didn't want to know anymore, so you just turned off the phone.
Maybe you should have read the rest of the messages.
The Turtles were after some Shredder followers who had hidden bombs around the city.
So far they had managed to find and defuse 3 bombs in time, they captured some ninjas for interrogation to discover the last bomb before it was too late.
-We thank you very much for your collaboration- thanked one of the officers -We will continue trying to get an answer- he added while other officers took away some ninjas
-We must hurry, there is still a bomb and Donnie still can't find it- Leonardo spoke with concern in his voice
-They won't arrive on time- spoke one of the ninjas while he laughed inside the patrol
-You'd better start talking before you can't!- Raph threatened, taking him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him slightly out of the vehicle.
-Time's up- was the only thing the ninja said.
Saying that, soon the sound of a distant explosion was heard, they listened to the radio of one of the officers and with fear your turtle heard that the bomb had exploded in a building in Times Square.
The turtles ran as fast as possible, while each one tried to contact you, but they did not achieve anything, you did not respond, much less you answered the messages.
They just hoped that you had gone home, or maybe with April, or anywhere, but far from that place.
Upon arrival they only saw people running in panic, some firefighters and officers had arrived to help the people who managed to get out, each turtle separated to help the rest of the people and get some out of the rubble.
Again your turtle tried to call you, and he felt relieved when he heard the ringtone you had, that characteristic tone song you had, he moved carefully following the sound, but when he arrived at the place he froze.
Everything around him seemed to have slowed down.
Your phone was ringing but from among the rubble of the building that had recently exploded, the place where they would have their last date.
With his hands he began to remove stone by stone, as quickly as possible while asking with all his strength that you be okay, that you will look at him with that smile that you loved so much and tell him that he was okay, his brothers also came to help until that they finally managed to reach you.
Unfortunately not on time.
It had been a few years since you left, they not only lost a friend, they lost a part of their family.
And your turtle had not been the same as before.
But who would be?
She had gotten so into protecting people and training that she had reached a new level.
A level where communication with you was allowed.
Splinter had told him that he shouldn't mess with the world of the dead, it wasn't good for his son, but he just needed it.
He needed you.
He could still remember the first time he made it, when he could see you again, when he could see your smile and he could hug you, you were there again.
And there they were, speaking again from an astral plane. The same as always after so many years.
-It's not healthy that you always remember that- you spoke to get him out of his head
-I forgot that in this plane, minds are completely connected- said your turtle while massaging his neck
-That's right- you spoke calmly -You look tired- you commented as you gave him a smile
-Yes, I look horrible, you can't imagine what the streets of New York are like- said the turtle with an amused tone -It seems that the bad guys come out of any corner now- she added while laughing
-I wasn't talking about that- you spoke while you shook your head -You must stop- when you saw how you managed to make me look at you, you just smiled the same as you always did -You must stop- you repeated once more
-Stop talking? Sure, it doesn't matter just to be silent, like the first time we connected- a smile formed on his face, one that seemed so difficult to maintain until he felt your soft hands on his cheeks.
-I died- you spoke while caressing his cheeks with your thumbs -I died and you must let me go- you finished saying
-I just... I need more time- the turtle took your hands while trembling
-Years have passed... You must let me go- I was trying to make your partner see reason
-I can't... I can't do it- she denied several times with her head -I can't go on without you- tears began to well up in her eyes
-Of course you can- you approached to hit your forehead with that of your turtle -I know you can... I love you and I will always love you- the shine on your body was decreasing with each word
-Please... Not yet- the turtle hugged you tightly, trying to keep you from leaving his side.
-It's time- you returned the hug while little tears began to come out of your eyes too -You won't see me, but I'll be there, as long as you keep moving forward- the shine on your body was less and less, beginning to be a transparent image
Once you completely disappeared from her arms, your turtle began to cry bitterly, she hadn't been able to cry since you left.
Now the only thing left to do is move on for everything they had lived together and for what he now had to live.

So... here's some art of 25 year old 2012 turtles ✨
Anyway I'm going to try to keep it short and sweet. So I drew what my interpretation of how the 2012 turtles. They were easy and difficult to draw at the same time. The main reason being that I knew what I wanted for some more than others and stuff that I didn't manage to look right. In all honesty this was the first time drawing the 2012 boys and was a bit tricky (I'm a lot better at drawing the Rise! turtles).
To put there outfits simply here are the summaries/ headcanons I came up with:
Raphael has more gear and armor on him since I thought that would make sense for his character. Even though he has ninja gear I decided to give him Salmanadrian (is that how you spell it?) armor because I have a feeling he goes to salamandria so he can his Mona Lisa the Salamandrian way (which I could probably go on and on about how I think salamandrian weddings go but that's for another day), again since he already married her the earth way. Which is why there's a ring along his neck.
Leonardo is very enriched in the Japanese culture by now. So I gave him a robe around his waist and I also gave him a hamato clan tattoo. He probably spends most of his days training and helping others. Nothing different than what he did when he was 15. The only difference is that he's tougher now.
Donatello was probably one of the harder ones to draw but there were somes aspects that I knew I wanted for him and drew easily. I gave him lab gloves like the version of him in a TMNT short were he's wearing lab gloves. I wanted to give him some mechanical things as well that we're similar to the one he had in the apocalypse AU. So I gave him futuristic goggles and knee braces.
Michaelangelo was the hardest one to draw. I honestly barely knew what I wanted to do for him but I just put him in human clothes that suited him and that seemed to work. I also gave him an aprons because I definitely see him owning a pizza restaurant where all are welcome.

Colorcoded!leo by @calista-222 :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colorcoded!leo lore : -Leo is SUPER tactile with his family and loved ones (including casey and april) -Whenever he can he touches them, especially when talking to them. He does a lot of surprise hugs for no reason other than :)!!!! love!!!! -Leo is tactile to show affection but doesn't say it much, if not ever. -So about the tactile thing, imagine in an important discussion, he would touch the shoulder or get close to whoever he's talking to, without even thinking it -if he can't get to whoever he's talking to for whatever reason, he fidgets a bit instead -Leo is still the leader, and is supposed to be responsible and keeps the others in order but herd mind does wonder and if they get the Silly™️ then he usually goes with them to do something stupid. -Except when they get the Silly™️ he still is pretty good at what he does, and in battle is pretty much 2012 Leo. However unlike 2012 Leo he sucks at strategizing, it's more Donnie's field. -He's super into Japanese's culture, because he feels like it's his roots and he wants to respect that as much as possible (hence why his ouftit is the most classic), and he often talks to Splinter about it to get to learn more. He really hopes he'll be able to go to Japan one day, and eventually meet the rest of the Hamato clan. -Leo is also extremely supportive of his brothers, and tries his best to pull them up. -He listens to Donnie's ranting about science or fantastical books, even if he usually truly understands like half of it, sometimes he link 2+2 and goes "oh, like when you told me about [thing]" and donnie gets really happy and like :D!!!!! YEAH!!!!! Exactly !!! -He oftens hang out in Mikey's room when his brother is painting, reading a book or playing on his phone, because Mikey likes to have commentary on his work as it progresses. -If Raph comes to him to spar, he usually drops whatever he's doing and goes with him and they train for a bit. Of course Leo does not let him win UwU but it means that whenever Raph DOES win, he knows it's for real and he always gets a big boost of confidence -I can't believe I deadass forgot that but remember Mikey's embroidery on the bois' stuff ? Donnie was like "sure do the mask" Raph was also like "sure do the mask" and then like most of his mask got ripped off and there was no more place to embroidery there so mikey did the belt Leo was like "sure do the mask" so Mikey did the mask and assumed that was it and then leo went :) and gave him his belt and Mikey was like :D!!!!!!! -Leo and Raph are twins so they tend to fight for stuffs, but they have a strong bond and they often go to eachother if they need to talk about stuff (and not let Splinter know) -Leo and Donnie get along great and have tons of talks about everything and nothing. -Leo just gets along with everyone - Leo is very invested in Japanese's culture and tries to learn as much from it as possible, and that includes japanese tv shows. Leo is ESPECIALLY excited about this universe's sailor moon equivalent. Mikey and Raph doesn't get it, Mikey because he feels like it doesn't make sense and it's badly written and HE COULD DO BETTER- and Raph because. Raph. However DONNIE didn't expect to get as invested as he is. But he is. Somehow. -Leo only has 1 sword -Leo and Mikey together are disaster children. Do not leave them alone in a room. Seriously. -Leo is a TERRIBLE liar and cannot act for shit either -If there’s has to be ONE moment where he lies good, it would be if anyone from his family is in instant danger of death. And even then it would be a small lie. -Leo is the eldest brother with Raph, his technically-twin -Leo LOVES the show Tanako no Ichi and loves to rant about it with Donnie
Tumblr media
Colorcoded!mikey by @calista-222 (seriously go check out their art)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colorcoded!Mikey lore : -This Mikey loves to paint and has been doing so since he was 7 -Ice cream kitty is there and it's literally a copy-paste of 2012 because she's perfect -i would also like to precise that the bag you can see in the ref holds a sketchbook and a pencil and an eraser and literally 0 ninja stuff the ninja stuff is in another bag -mikey stands his ground a lot against raph so they just argue a lot more than in most versions (they still love eachother, still bro) -ninja is a hobby artist is his job -He has done all the embroidery present on everyone’s design. He just takes their stuff and sew. -Mikey and Raph fight more than the others, because Raph often goes to far with the teasing, but they still would die for eachother :) -Leo and Mikey are disaster children. Don't leave them alone in the same room. Mikey activates Leo's "dumb braincells". However if Leo is with Mikey and at LEAST another person, he has big bro energy -Mikey and Donnie often fight about eachother's space and the need to get out. Donnie wants mikey out because well he has big 2012 mikey energy in the lab, and mikey wants donnie out because Donnie keeps doing the "that arm doesn't look proportionate" and that kind of comments -As a group they tease Mikey more, and in a non-threatning situation, have 1 braincell -Mikey has a burning hatred for the japanese show “Tanako no Ichi”, who has been going on for too many years and nothing makes any sense, and it intensely bothers him. Leo and Donnie love to annoy him with it. - He has a shit ton of stickers on his back and front shell and a lot represent his family, including splinter I need to draw the back shell of the boisvehzvs There's 3 types of stickers on mikey's shell : ----He drew his family ----He drew other than his family (usually food) ----He found some Good Shape ™️ stickers -He’s Aroace -Mikey is the middle child ! He gets to tease Donnie a bit, altough he doesn’t do it often. -Mikey is a terrible cook and takes cooking lesson from Casey (mostly because his family pushed him to) - I find the idea hilarious that Mikey is unironically attractive and every person their age they meet get a crush on him and every time he's like N o Not again.... Because Colorcoded Mikey is aroace - He's horrible at turning people down because he feels bad and doesn't want to hurt the person's feelings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colorcoded!Raph lore : -Raph has a pet named Buckle, and she’s a mouser mutated with a dog. -Raph is still angry boi but he is way more contained than in 2012, and if he feels rage and wants to blow up to his brothers, he brutally leaves the room and go play a video game to let out some steam. He uses training and night patrol to let his anger run free, while still being kinda controlled so he doesn't do anything stupid (at first it wasn't contained and mikey got hurt. he felt very guilty and didn't go to training or patrol for a while after that, staying with Splinter to try and control his anger better. once he felt like he was in control enough, he went back with his bros) -Since he plays video games whenever he's angry, and he's angry very very often, he's REALLY good at it. any games in the lair ? played 'em, beat 'em, next. When he was smaller, he used to rage and break the game/console if he failed at any point in the game. He later realized that it wasn't super smart and it mostly just ruined any chances he had of doing better. So he got a punching ball in his room and everytime he rages he gets up and go hit that instead. -More often than not, when Leo does his surprise hug, Raph pushes him away. -He likes to hang out in Donnie's lab while he's working, talking to him about stuff unless Donnie REALLY needs to focus and he gets kicked out. -He loves to tease Mikey, and if he goes to far, he gets scolded by the latter anyway, so since he can stand his ground, he doesn't see a problem with it and keeps doing it. -When the team gets down and desesperate, Raph is usually the one to get them back up and get the team running again. -He's usually super tough and ):< Except when there's an animal (non-mutated) nearby, and then he gets <3   which his brothers never hesitate to tease him for. Jokingly, of course, since they don't want to shame his soft side into hiding. -he's super nice and soft and gentle with animals, researching what they need to doing his best to take care of them, eventually scolding the others if they do it wrong. -With Donnie, he's the most stubborn out of all of them, and he's difficult to reason with. He doesn't like to be proven wrong and has difficulty accepting it. -Donnie and Raph get along great as long as Raph doesn't get angry™️ and Donnie doesn't go on a rant -Raph and Donnie are used to monitoring their bros when they’re alone together so they don’t accidentally take down a building or kill themselves -Raph loves gossip and does not hide it. He likes to hear about the shenanigans going on in Casey’s and April’s highschool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Colorcoded!Donnie lore : -Donnie loves to read both science books and fantastical books. -Donnie likes the complete unhinge style of it, and it really allows him a break from science, like these two can NOT cross. -Shelldon is there in this version, but he's different first, he's non-verbal second his design is based on a dragon with a turtle shell it's like shell-dragon but shellgon sounds terrible so he put a d in there. of course you completely lose the aspect of shell-dragon, and he refuses to admit it because he's extremely stubborn, but his brothers tease him a lot about it -so it's a tiny robot dragon with a shell on his back boom, shelldon also he can fly but not by using his wings traditionally. it's like he open the wings and he has propellers inside of them and boom like a drone, like rise!shelldon - Okay so unlike most of the fucking donnies who are "scIeNtIsT" and suddenly they can do everything- Can you tell this pissed me off.-- it's like he's an "arRisTE" and bitch can play any instruments, paint, draw, sculpt, and all at like college levelthAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS FFS- So unlike most of the donnies, Colorcoded!Donnie is an Engineer, which means he can build stuff That's his FIELD. If he has to do some bioscience he has to LEARN IT AND ASK FOR HELPbecause GUESS WHAT ?! HE CAN'T BE A GENIUS IN EVERY FIELD EVER THAT'S NOT A THING NO SIR- -Metalhead is also here -The turtletank is also here -Donnie’s tech is more realistic than Rise, until he gets his hands on some sweet sweet Kraang tech and then he goes buck wild. -Donnie is the youngest brother - Donnie does get teased more, and by mikey as well, unlike other versions where it was mostly raph and a bit of leo -Donnie absolutely LOVES the show Tanako no Ichi and loves to rant about it with Leo. I’ll do April and Casey in another post, but if you can’t wait, you can read about them and a lot more infos on the AU

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 Review: Still Possesses Turtle Power After All These Years
Tumblr media
Cowabunga all you happy people! I freaking love the Teenage Ninja Turtles. I grew up with it from Turtles in Time, which was my first video game, to the 2003 cartoon, which I covered the first three episodes of last month, and on to present day as I re-read the idw comics after finally reading the original eastman and laird run of mirage, and impatiently waiting for Shredder’s Revenge to come out after a LONG drout of no good TMNT games. I”m a fan of these heroes four, their dynamic as a family, the endless possiblities that come from it’s long history and ablitlity to go anywhere in any genre, and the wonderful goofy shit that happens when you have a franchise about mutant turtles learning ninjitsu from a rat and fighting a dude covered in knife covered samurai armor.
So with me finally covering the guys after almost a year last month and with a new movie set to debut at some point this year, I had the bright idea to revisit the FIRST TMNT movie after way too many years of not watching it. This movie is anear and dear to my heart: When I first started getting into the boys big as a kid with the 2003 cartoon, I badly wanted more turtles. But back then it wasn’t nearly as easy to glom onto some more of the sewer shock pizza kings: Streaming sites with all the cartoons on them weren’t all that accesable, dvd’s were expensive for the 87 cartoon, Mirage wasn’t reprinting the comics in any meaningful way and my local comic shop didn’t have any at all and I could only play the SNES when my brother had it set up on occasion like at our Grandma’s farm.
As you probably guessed though there was one exception: the original 1990 movie, which I got at Walmart for 5 bucks and haven’t let go of since. It was one of my first dvds and is still one of my most precious. Said film hit the spot just right as like my beloved 2003 series, it was a mildly goofy but still fucking cool adaptation that stuck closer to the mirage comics, even more than the 2003 series would, while taking a few queues from the 87 series. This film is as precious to me as the 2003 series and a with a brand new movie coming up, I figured it was the exact right time to dig into this classic: what makes it still good to this day, what’s fun to point and laugh at, and how the heck Jim Henson got involved in this. So join me under the cut as I take a look at my boys first theatrical outing and why I still love watching a turtle.
Tumblr media
No One Wanted To Make This: Before we get into the film itself some background. As usual I struggled a bit, but thankfully found some help in the form of this Hollywood Reporter article.  It’s a fascinating read worth your time, providing an oral history of the film from the people who worked on it.
The film was the baby of Gary Propper, a surfer dude and road manager for the prop comic Gallagher, aka that guy who used to smash watermelons but now has instead opted to smash what little’s left of his career by being a homophobic douchenozzle. He found an ally in Showtime producer Kim Dawson who’d produced Gallagher’s special. I don’t think there will be more of an 80′s sentence than “Gallagher’s surfer dude agent wanted to make a teenage mutant ninja turtles movie”. Propper was a huge fan of the comics, and with Dawson’s help convinced Laird and Eastman to let them option it to studios.
It may come as a shock to you but the road agent for a homophobic watermelon man and a producer at a niche cable channel wanting to make a movie based on an underground comic book about masked turtles at a time when the two most recent comic book movies were Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and Howard the Duck, did not go well. Every door in Hollywood got slammed in their face, even Fox> Even the eventual backer of the film, Golden Harvest, a hong kong action film studio, took months to convince to actually back the film.
Things did not get easier from there: The films writer Bobby Herbeck had trouble getting a story agreed on because Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s working relationship had deteroiated horribly from the stress so naturally the two could not agree on a damn thing and argued with each other. Peter Laird  made a tense siutation even worse by constnatly sniping at Herbeck and feeling he was a “Hollywood outsider infringing on his vision and characters”
Tumblr media
Granted the script was apparently not great... but Pete still comes off as a pretnetious ass who views his weird indie comic as THE HIGHEST OF HIGH CALLINGS HOW DARE YOU SOIL IT. And continued to be kind of a prick like this throughout the rest of his time with the property.
Thankfully the film found i’ts voice, vision and director in Steve Barron. Barron was a music video guy who knew the producers and while reluctant, eventually dove into the project rightfully thinking the film would need to be a mix of the mirage comics and 87 cartoon, keeping aprils’ reporter job, the turtles lvoe of pizza and their iconic color coding from the cartoon but adapting several stories from the comics as the backbone of the film. The guys liked barron MUCH better and things ran smoother.
Barron also brought in one of the film’s biggest selling points and it’s most valuable asset: it’s triumphantly awesome Jim Henson costumes. Barron had worked with good old Jim on the music videos for Labyrinth, and while it took some convincing since the comics were violent as hell and that wasn’t Jim’s style, Barron eventually got him on board. This naturally doubled the budget, but given Henson’s costumes STILL hold up today and look better than the cgi used in the platinum dunes films... it was a good call. And this was brand new tech for jim, having to invent tons of new ideas and mechanisms just to make the things work, and said things still were absolute hell on the actors. Jim later ended up not liking the film for being too violent... which I find hilarious given how many muppets got eaten or blowed up real good on his show but regardless, I thank this legendary and wonderful man as without him this film WOULD NOT have worked. The costumes here look great, feel realistic, and you can’t tell the actors were dubbed much less horribly suffering in those suits. Much like Disney Land.
The film would get picked up for distribution by New Line, and despite i’ts weird as hell origins and the long shot it had.. the film was a MASSIVE hit at the box office, owing to a combination of Batman 89 the previous year having proved comic book movies can work for audiences, the cartoon’s runaway sucess, and a massive marketing campaign. The film made it’s mark. So now we know how we got here let’s get into the film itself.
What’s the Story Morning Glory?:
So the story for this one is largely cobbled together from some of the more notable arcs Eastman and Laird did before handing off the book to others full time as the stress of the company and the mounting tension with each other made it near impossible to work together on the book itself.
To Save time i’m just going through what hte movie takes from the comics plot wise now to save me the trouble later:The movie takes elements from the first issue (The Turtles, Splinter and Shredder’s backstories, Shredder being fully human and the main antagonist, Shredder’s design and the final rooftop showdown that results in Shredder’s death), second and third, (April’s apartment over her dad’s old store and the turtles moving in when their home is ransacked and splinter has gone missing), the rapheal micro series (A tounge in cheek way of cashing in on the Mini-Series craze of the 80s, a one shot by modern standards and something that’s tragically been underused as an idea as only TMNT and MLP have used the idea at IDW, Raph meeting casey and their fight with one another), the return of shredder arc (One of the turtles being ambushed and mobbed by the foot and then thrown though a sky light (Leo in the comic and Raph here), the turtles being horribly outnumbered by them, Casey coming ot the rescue and metting the non-raph turtles for the first time, and them being forced to escape when the place goes up in flames), their exile to northampton (April writing in a journal, casey working on a car with one of the guys and one of hte guys looking over hteir injured brother), and finally, their triumphant return which was very loosely adapted as there are no deformed shredder clones and shredder not being dead yet in this version was not brought back by a colony of super science worms.
Tumblr media
So as for how this all comes together: Our story takes place in New York: A crimewave is high with muggings mysterious. There are a ton of phantom thefts going around and at most people have been seeing teens responsibile. And the police.. are at about this level of useful:
Tumblr media
The only person doing something is April O’Neil, played by Judith Hoag. Hoag is easily the standout of the film, giving us a strong, confident woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She honestly might be my faviorite April O Neil, and given we’ve had some great ones with 2003, 2012 and Rise, that’s not something I say lightly. I honestly wish I’d recognized her in more stuff as she was both on Nashville and the mom in the Halloween Town films, and most recently was on the ScFy show the magicians. She’s a talented lady and i’m glad she’s still goin.
April is a reporter for Channel 3 like the cartoon, though for some weird reason her boss from the cartoon is replaced by Charles Pennigton, played by Jay Patterson, whose currently dealing with his troubled son Danny, played by Micheal Turney. Pennington is horribly useless at both jobs: At work he tries to ease April off calling out Chief Sterns, who refuses to listen to April’s evidence gathered from japanese immigrants that the crimes resemble similar ones in japan in favor of trying to get charles to shut her up. Danny meanwhile is a member of the foot becase his dad thinks shouting out him and talking about him like he’s not there and generally being a dipstick will actually do anything to help him.
I love the concept for the foot here. In addition to being a Ninja Violence Gang as always, they now recruit new members by finding kids without families or with troubled family lives and giving them a sense of family with the foot, and sweeting the bargin with a giant cave filled with arcade machines, a skate ramp and general late 80′s early 90′s kids goodies. Is it rediculous? Yes. Is it also clever as it gives Shredder an easy army of plausably deniable theives that he can pick the best out of to put in his elite that will be tirelessly loyal to him and him alone? Also yes.
So April being public about this stuff gets her attacked, which naturally leads to our heroes coming in, first in the shadows and later directly when April wont’ give up on the case and Shredder sends some ninjas to go shut her up.. which he does weirdly as the guy jsut slaps her and tells her to cut it out like he’s on a domestically abusive episode of Full House. Raph saves her, and we get the turtles origin.. though weirdly they cut it in half. We get the ooze portion but Splinter’s past with Saki, Saki’s murder of his master and his master’s partern Tang Shen is left for later in the film and the fact Shredder’s saki is treated as a big twist despite the fact the biggest audience for the film would be kids... and kids would’ve been familiar with the cartoon where the giant brain monster routinely screeches out saki at the shredder. Maybe Barron just thought he was an alcoholic I don’t know. It just would’ve made more sense to have it all at once and let the audeince put it together.
April becomes good friends with the turtles over a night of frozen pizza and camradrie, but the Splinters return home to find it ransacked, Splinter kidnapped by the foot, and are forced to Stay with april. Charles meanwhile tries to get April to backoff because he made a deal with the police to clear Danny’s record, without TELLING her any of this mind you, but I will save my rage on that little plot point for in a bit as Danny who he drug along sees the turtles and tells the Shredder.
So we get the return of the shredder arc as Raph goes through a window, our heroes fight valiantly, and Raph’s friend Casey who he met earlier shows up, the two having bonded as all true friends do.. by beating the shit out of each other ending with raph shouting DAMNNNNNNN really big and dramatically into the sky for some reason. The Turtles and friends escape with an injured raph from April’s burning second hand store. She had a second hand store it was poorly established and only there because she had it in the comics.
Our heroes retreat to a farm April’s grandma owned in Northampton, Massachutes, where Mirage was located at the time the original comics where they were exiled to the place were written and a location that has been a staple of the turtles ever since. The turtles slowly recover, lick their wounds, talk about who hooked up with who on gilligans island etc, before Leo connects with Splinter via meditation, who tells them to come back. Splinter also starts to connect with Danny and convinces him to swtich sides.. or at the very least squat in the boys old home.
The boys return home, find danny, and prepare, Danny goes back and ends up giving away the Turtles are home.. but the turtles are ready and in an awesome sequence kick the fuck out of the foot squad sent for them with some well prepared steam vents. Casey goes to get splinter since Danny told them and with Danny’s help, finds him, since Danny found out they were gonna kill him. Casey beats up Tatsu, shredder’s right hand man, and they get him out.
We get our final fight which is awesome up until the climax.. which is splinter casually tripping shredder with nunchucks and thier bloody history being kind of rushed and unsatsifying. Casey crushes shredder with a garbage truck, April gets her job back, more on that in a moment, she and casey hook up, and we end with the fucking awesome song T-U-R-T-L-E Power by partners in cryme. Seriously check it out it’s fucking triumphant.
youtube
The song is just good.. cheesy? Sure but that’s half the fun. It’s the gold standard for movie theme songs for them and stacks up handily with the various animated series themes.. all of which slap. Okay... ALMOST all of which slap. Fast Forwards is aggressively medicore, which is doubly suprising to me since 4kids was REALLY damn good with theme songs. It was one of the three things they were best at along with finding VERY talented voice actors and setting japan based works in america because merica dammit.
The plot is very solid: It skilfully packed half of eastman and laird’s run on TMNT into 90 mintues while adding things like April’s job at channel 9, the way the foot recurited kids etc. The plot flows well for hte most part and apart from one annoying subplot we’ll get to never has a moment that feel unecessary or dosen’t pay off later. And the stellar plot and fun pacing of it helps boilster the characters that do work... and help paper over the ones that are so thin the’yd fall down a grate...
Our Heroes, Villains and Annoying Middle Aged Guys:
Yeahhhh character is hit and miss here. Some are rather strong, others are the bare basics for the character their adapting and most are just to serve the plot but some work some don’t,  So let’s talk about it starting with our boys:
Raph is the most fleshed out of the turtles, being the main focus of the first 2/3 of the film, and having his anger be part of what SHOULD be a character arc, learning to temper it. And while granted MOST TMNT properties do this, to the point that Rise Raph is so loveable in part because his boisterous bruiser big bro attitude is a refreshing break from the usual grumpus we get. But at the time this hadn’t been done in every version but the 87 cartoon, so exploring it was valid.. but despite saying this should be a thing htey just forget about it and the most plot relevance he gets is going thorugh a window. He dosen’t really get a resolution.. his arc just kind of stops dead for the final half and it’s one of the film’s weaker points, one I only just now noticed on this rewatch. He’s still the most entertaining.
Leo is the weakest of the turtles. He really lacks a personality here mostly just being leader and while his spirtual side is touched on, it’s  mostly a plot device. He’s just kinda the leader because he was in the comics to the point Partners in Cryme called Raph the leader. His role in getting taken out by the foot was taken by Raph, so he just has.. nothing to do for most of the film other than gripe at raph ocasionally and say orders. He’s probably the worst Leo i’ve seen outside of Next Mutation. I prefice that because after watching Phelous’ review it’s VERY clear those four are the worst versions of the characters, and no personality is still better than either having your team do nothing or yelling at them as your personality. I chalk this up to the Mirage Leo, and the mirage turtles to a poit being kind of bland. Not TERRIBLE characters, especially for the time, but not nearly as fleshed out or individualized as they woudl be in other adpatations, and with most traits LEo DID have, like his badassery flat out gone, he’s just.. nothing here.
Mikey and Donnie are a double act here with both sharing a brain. Interestingly instead of his normal genius character, Donnie is Mikey’s best friend and the two simply trade jokes and schtick together. The two are interchangable.. but easily the best part of the film and a lot of the most memorable gags and lines, from Ninja Kick the Damn Rabbit! to “Do you like Penicllin on your pizza”, are from them. Thier there almost entirely as comic relief but it works, with both clealry being more modled ont he 87 cartoon turtles, a move that helps lighten the mood in darker moments. Their just genuinely charming and it’s intresting to see such a diffrent version of Donnie, and other incarnations, specifically the 2003 and Rise versions, would retain the sarcastic edge.
Splinter is splinter. That’s about it, he’s peformed well and the puppet is amazing but he gets kidnapped a half an hour in and outside of influcencing Denny, more on that in a moment, and finishing Shredder he dosen’t do much but spout exposition. He’s not bad or anything, but he’s essentially a rodent shaped plot device. He was also puppeted by Kevin CLash, aka the guy who does Elmo. So there you go.
April on the other hand.. is truly excellent. This might be my faviorite April. Judith’s april nicely blends the cartoon and mirage versions: She has the cartoons energy and job, but the comics sheer will and casual nature. Judith just oozes personality and her April is just a joy to watch, from her breezy chemistry filled interactions with the guys to her confrntation with Chief Sterns, knowing she’ll get thrown out by the asshole. She’s confident, and even when afraid dosen’t back down to her attackers and even helps out during the sewer ambush. I mean it’s a pot on the head but still it’s neat. She’s easily the best part of the flim and the most fleshed out of the cast. The worst I can say is they kinda shove her store from the comics, Second Time Around, in there for no other reason than it was in the comics: It dosen’t come up until it’s needed for the foot’s assault on her place. But overall.. she’s just fantastic to watch.
Speaking of fantastic to watch, Elias Koteas is fantastic as Casey. Seriously he’s only second to the 2003 version in my eyes, getting the concept of a testorone filled average guy who decided to just go out and hit people with sports equipment after watching too much A-Team.. I mean that part of it’s not in this version but it’s implied, just right. Like judith, Elias is just really funny to watch and his big scenes, showing up just in time during the foot assault on april’s place and his fight with Tatsu are some of the best parts of the film, the former taken directly from the comics. This version isn’t without problems: His friendship with Raph, his most endearing aspect and one that has been carried throughout eveyr version Casey’s important, with the only exception so far being rise and we have a movie to fix that, is absent here. HE does save the guy, but they don’t really bond or anything. In fact he disappears for about half an hour after his big fight with Raph. But... again he’s just so damn entertaining, down to his JOSEEEEEEEEEEE Conseco bats (There was a two for one sale!).
Shredder is just a LITTLE better than splinter, if only because his actor projects a true aura of menace and I feel this version had some influence on the pants crappingly terrifying 2003 version. And the idea of the foot recurting teenagers like I said is a good one: He gives them home and a cause, they give him plausably deniable backup. And his fight with the boys in the climax is really awesome... the conclusion sucks but otherwise h’es okay. Not the deepest villian, but he has enough presence to be enjoyable.
His right hand man Tatsu, whose been adapted ocasionally since this and reimaigned as Natsu in the IDW comics, a female version, is also fine. He’s your standard grimacing goon but has enough presence to work.
So that brings us to the penningtons. Charles, april’s boss at the station and his son Danny who’s joined the foot as he feels his dad dosen’t love him. Charles..is about as interesting and likeable as a dog turd and is the worst aspect of the film. No debate there, he just sucks. He sucks so hard he’s classified as a black hole.  The film wants you to see him as a put upon wokring dad whose frustrated with his son’s increased moodiness, skipping school and crminal undertakings and just wants to help him and loves him deep down. The problem is his actor’s delivery instead of concerned.. is just pissed. He just seems pissy and upset about the whole thing and comes off like he’s only mad about Danny doing this because he’s embarassing him and not because you know, it’s bad. When confronting Danny about stealing, he dosen’t consider MAYBE he’s part of a gang or needs help, but just wonders “Why are you stealing when I give you stuff”. Because, Dipshit, sometimes kids do crimes not because they need the stuff but because they WANT to, and because they want to act the fuck out.
The most he does for the kid is agree to try and get April to back off the police when Cheif Sterns offers to let Danny go and not put him on record in exchange for it. The problem.. is this makes him even MORE unsympathetic. While I do get wanting to help your child, I do and it’s a sucky position... he again should be sympathetic.. but he handles the thing so badly it sucks. He just tells april to ease off, with no reason given, then fires her when she SHOCKINGLY dosen’t give up taking the guy whose refusing to take her hard work seriously or actually solve the crime wave problem to task for his shitty behavior as ANY person facing a shitty, corrput cop would. She just wants to hold him acountable and get him to actually do something. He clearly knows her on a personal level too as he talks about his issues with his son freely with her, something you don’t do with an employee unless their also a friend on some level.
He could have TOLD april what was going on. She’d be furious at Stern’s naked corrpution and prioritizing shutting her up over actually solving crimes.. and thus put at least some of that energy into shutting him down or finding a way around it, going to the papers or something like that. Even in 1990 pre-internet, there were ways to get around Sterns blackmail and expose him so someone who’d actually do the job could get the job. Instead he just comes off as a selfish coward who rather than try and fight the guy blatantly abusing his power and using Charles own son as  barganing chip, goes along with it because it’s the easier option to simply bow to him instead of TRY and stop this. And it’s not like he’s even going after a beloved public figure or someone who could hide behind his rep: Sterns was blatantly failing a crime wave, April had called him out on his failrues and coverups multiple times. The public was against sterns.. finding out he tried to blackmail the media into shutting up about him would PROBABLY end him... I only say probably not because the public wouldn’t skewer him, but because police tend to escape consequences for blatantly murdering someone on a daily basis and Andrew Cumo is STILl mayor over in new york, the same city this movie takes place, 31 years later, depsite EVERYONE asking him to resign over a long history of sexual harassment and a more recent but still horrible history of hiding death numbers. I don’t doubt people being stupid enough to ignore this or the bilaws with cops being stacked enough for him to get away with it, but just because someone gets away with a crime dosen’t mean you shoudln’t try and go after them in the first place. Fuck. Charles. Pennington.
Danny on the other hand is FAR more interesting and I think gets way too much flack when it comes to this subplot. Unlike his dad, whose dead weight, Danny is intresting: He provides a POV character for the foot’s MO in the film of taking in wayward teens, and his character arc is pretty engaging, slowly realizing the foot dosen’t care and that hte turtles are the good guys. HIs actor does a great job and while not the biggest presence, he’s not a bad addition to clan hamaoto and I wish other adaptations would find a way to use him. The pull between doing the right thing and his found family is a good struggle. My only real issue with his plot is the moviies flawed aseop about family. It tries to contrast shredder and his using the kids blatnatly with Splinter and Charles really loving their sons. And it works with Splinter and the kids because despite being a tad strict, Splinter clearly loves his sons and works with them to help them. The problem is ENTIRELY with Charles and Danny. As I said Charles love comes off as transasctional: He either thinks he can buy it or just expects it because he shot a bunch of goop into Danny’s mom after two minutes of disapointment. It dosen’t work with them because neither option is good for Danny. His father is neglectful, chooses throwing his jounralistic integrity out the window over talking to his son or his best friend about another way, and abrasive. Danny is no saint, he does do crimes, but it’s clearly a result of a shitty upbringing and the shredder and co actually offeirng him the love he desperatly craves. Danny goes to the foot because his dad is bad at his job but the film never adresses that and just expects Danny to go back to his dad because the plot says so. Danny would HONESTLY be better off with Splinter. No really. Sure he’d have to live in the sewers.. but he did so for a few weeks in the course of the movie. He’s fine down there. Splitner actually cares about him and took an intrest to him and knows how to raise a child. Let him become the fifth turtle. An aseop about family is not a bad thing: Loaded subject that it can be given how many outright abusive families exist, i’m one of the lucky ones who dosen’t have that issue, family is an important thing and can be a source of comfort and support. But this film tells you you should love and respect someone who does not love, respect or value you because he spent a minute in your mom’s vagina and that’s not how family should work and is outright dangerous to kids in an abusive situation. Love the film otherwise but fuck this aseop skyhigh.
Final thoughts:
Overall though.. the film is bodacious. It’s funny, well paced, has an awesome cast, and outside of a certain bald asswipe... it’s a really good superhero film. Is it the best i’ve seen? Nope. Not even close and character wise most of them are as thin as a wet paper bag covered in ranch dressing. But it’s still a fun as hell with awesome corepgraphy, a killer soundtrack, seriously the soundtrack is damn excellent and only didn’t get it’s own section because I didn’t have enough to say and some of the best effects work i’ve seen in a film in the turtle suits. If you haven’t seen it I urge you to check it out: it’s a breezy 90 minutes, it’s on hbo max and it’s a shell of a time. Will I do the next film?
Tumblr media
We’ll see how this one does like wise and such, but I will be doing the rise film whenever it comes out this year. So look for that and keep possesing turtle power my dudes. If you liked this review subscirbe for more, join my patreon to keep this blog a chugging, comission a review if you have more turtle stuff you want me to cover, and comment on this. What do you think of the movie, what are your thoughts on the review, what can I do better, what other turtle stuff would you like me to cover/ Let me know and i’ll see you at hte next rainbow.

I request: Leonardo. Please and thank you 🙏.
Tumblr media
Idk if everyone loves Leo or if my header and avatar just remind everyone about this amazing blue boy. (This one’s super silly btw. I’m just sillier as time goes on. Character development I guess?)
The iconic leador Leonardo (1987)
Tumblr media
Bro idk why but I loved this Leo. I have a tiny memory, especially with this version but I clearly remember that I thought he was the funniest and the coolest. I mean, he had swords, what was I supposed to do as a 7-year-old. NOT like him??? Anyway, while Raph was the best at insult comedy, I think Leo had the best puns and punchlines. I really like how nonchalant this Leo is compared to his iterations, going along with really silly ideas and having fun along the way. But because of this, his leadership is a little forced at times, he seems like such a chill and fun dude that when he gets serious, I have to squint and ask ‘are you Leo? Or were you just putting on act a moment ago?’ Or my perception is entirely warped over time. Either way, good turtle boy, could have used some work tho. 5.7/10
Here comes grumpy lad wooo this is all read very monotone btw Fearless Leader (2003)
Tumblr media
What. What the fuck happened. I was actually so confused when Leo turned really angry and serious and almost manic. I thought that episode when he popped into Casey’s window and was like ‘Hey bitch lets go beat the shit out of some lowlifes’ I was WOAH THERE BUDDY BACK UP BACK UP BACK TF UP. It was so sudden to me and when it was finally explained, it made some sense??? Like yeah, character development is great an’ all but this ain’t it chief. I can’t imagine what it was like having to wait for these episodes to release one at a time. Bc I watched every episode back to back on Youtube and I was genuinely bamboozled. But when you have an experience like that where guilt is weighing down on you from a situation you couldn’t control, it would’ve been HELLA HELPFUL to have at least a flashback, like a line saying ‘I was so useless!’ at BARE MINIMUM. Like right after Shredder is booted off to Planet Zula, Donnie would notice that Leo didn’t seem all that happy and would ask why and Leo would get upset and yell at Donnie saying that ‘You wouldn’t understand’, ‘You don’t know how I felt, how I feel because of that’, etc. Like you don’t even have to say he felt guilty or helpless, just give us something to grab onto. We’re merely six-year-olds who thought they could climb the YMCA rock wall in easy mode but instead the script riders harnessed us up on the hard one and wouldn’t let us come down until we rang the little bell at the top. I think that is the only problem I had with his Leo. The sudden change of calm and decisive to angry and irrational was so jarring that it felt unnatural without that crucial context. If you want a surprise reveal, at least hint at the reveal (like just about every Disney movie with their ‘twist’ villains) not wait until the very last moment. I think this might be my least favorite Leo and I think the season where he stood out the most and seemed the strongest was Fast Forward (Which was GOOD FIGHT ME), especially in scenes with Dark Leo, his clone. He sees so much of himself in Dark Leo but he also sees something he had once grasped (AKA the poorly written character arc, I CANNOT stress how bad I thought it was). Although, I honestly think he’s a really good character and he’s a pretty neat guy. However, this score is entirely held up by Fast Forward and his connection with Usagi, sword bros to the end of time. 3/10 (2 for FF and 1 for Usagi)
And now a Leo that makes me genuinely feel UWU Leo (2012)
Tumblr media
I cannot stress how much I like this guy! Like his design is so appealing, his dedication, his obsession with Space Heroes, like I FUCKING LOVE IT. And everyone knows, that shit with Karai, at first when they didn’t realize they were related, I can let slide but kajsdflksadf what even like why did the writers feel the need to add in more ‘love interest’ implications like yuck yuck yuck. The only two interactions with Leo and Karai that I really like are when Leo defeats her using the healing hands technique and when Leo has a goth/emo/punk/idk I’m new here phase and they team up and EXPLOSIONS. He was introduced to us as being incredibly naive and his idea of leadership is from some old cartoon that’s basically star trek but ethically questionable. After his fights in season 1, to the finale with the technodrome, you can see his growth. He’s able to formulate plans and make life or death decisions. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE. When Leo got hurt, I felt like the oof sound effect mixed with some tears I normally shed at some Shojo manga bs. While the episodes following were super weird, it was a nice way to help Leo recover, not only physically but spiritually (Although I don’t remember the spirit arc at all except the epic Raph vs Fishface fight, so we’re skipping that). When Master Splinter really died, you could tell there was a huge impact on Leo, but he had to remain stoic and lead the family now. A lot of heartbreaking moments in this series came from Leo and I’m glad they took at least some thought into developing him. Tiny head Leo will haunt my nightmares, but the giggly fanboy will warm my heart constantly. 6/10
I only have one word for this Leo (Heroes in a Half Shell: Blast to the Past)
Tumblr media
This is a super crazy bad idea accent on the super crazy bad part have I mentioned it’s also a really terrible idea/10
Okay, spoiler alert, didn’t really think this Leo was that grand Leo (2014/2016)
Tumblr media
Painfully average. He didn’t stand out that much, Raph was part of the focus and had that touching scene at the end, Donnie was ICONIC and Mikey (with his weird-ass eyes) was super lively and funny! Leo? Uh, I don’t remember a single line he said. Because he never really grabbed my attention, I don’t have too much to say on this version. The Raph and Leo fight felt forced and the whole ‘keep this stuff that could turn us human a secret’ was pretty pointless and was added just to cause drama, I don’t even remember what that Splinter and Leo conversation was about. Design-wise, really neat! You can see some more traditional Japanese clothing/style mixed with modern (I’d feel a lot better about this assumption if some could tell exactly what the heck he’s wearing, but I get traditional Japan warrior vibes from it) in his look which was super neat! Other than that, if you like him, please tell me why because I don’t get. He was just kinda eh. 5/10
AHHH MY BOY YASSS WHOOO!! Neon Leon (2018)
Tumblr media
Okay, I loved Ben Schwarts already from Parks and Rec but like him being Sonic AND Leo, like DUDE. He’s super funny by himself but teamed up with this shows writing and animation, it makes it hilarious. I literally love this Leo so much, maybe because we’re alike but honestly, he’s amazing. I love his design with the red and yellow crescents accenting his skin and livening up his color pallet. He has a very healthy and natural dynamic with his brothers, he’s the first to know what’s wrong and tries his best to make up for his actions. This is really prominent in the most recent episodes, along with the episode portal jacked. In both, Leo is separated from his brothers. Portal Jacked is in a more literal sense, while Air Turtle handles in more of an emotional sense. While both are brief, Leo sees his error and tries his best to make it up to them. I love his dynamic so much and it’s so nice to see something like this compared to the unnecessary drama and tension between the brothers in the previous series. It’s refreshing and this is something a younger audience needs to see; instead of fighting, it’s better to work together and improve yourself along the way. Improvement is a big theme for Leo here. He’s a goofball, makes jokes at every opportunity and isn’t quite skilled at fighting or using his weapon. But he grows over time, he learns to manage his power and he’s working on mastering it. He’s trying to put aside his narcissism more and focuses on his family. I think the approach they took with him rising to leader rather than slapping it on his forehead was the goddamn best decision they could make. He’s making plans, finding loopholes, helping out and getting out of his comfort zone. I cannot stress how well this show has handled Leo, along with the other characters. I can’t wait to see more episodes about his growth and I am awarding him with one of the greatest honors I could give... 10/10
Storytime: I drew a super cute 2012 Leo, you should look at him. Shameless self-promo, but you should follow me on my main blog bc I’m nice and I draw pretty pictures. Also. I have a little 2012 Leo Happy Meal toy??? I think??? guarding my window and he’s been there for YEARS. I need to bring him in and refresh his paint job.
Wow! I didn’t expect this many requests for Leo, so the blog will be momentarily spammed with the requests, but it shouldn’t be too much! Up next should be the last turtle (Mikey) and then we can get to some REALLY great requests I’m eager to answer. As usual, please comment and reblog! I’d love to hear your opinion!

TMNT Kids Names
I’ve noticed a trend in the TMNT fandom where almost everybody gives the turtles’ children (especially Leo’s) Japanese names. Now, I’m not saying this is bad or wrong in anyway. It’s your headcanon--go wild. But for my personal tastes, I do find it a little awkward.
Besides certain series like 2012, I don’t see any of the guys having a strong enough connection to Japanese culture to name their children in this way. They were “born” in America and don’t even have Japanese names themselves (excluding the last name Hamato, which is only canon in the 2012 series, hence why I singled that one out). Heck, I see this trend with the Bayverse turtles the most, but that Splinter isn’t even from Japan as Hamato Yoshi or his pet--he was just a lab rat with no memory before then.
Now, that is not to say they don’t have a connection to Japan (and obviously Splinter in most of the other series is from Japan, whether man or rat), but there is a difference between appreciating Japanese culture and using Japanese names for children with potentially no Japanese heritage. Most of their connection to the culture is solely them training as ninja. If their kids’ mother is Japanese in your headcanon (or you just prefer these names) then again, don’t listen to me. Do your thing. XD
But I feel we are missing out on another naming theme that has a much better connection with the turtles: Italian Renaissance painters. Because where do the guys’ names come from?
So, to cut this short, none of the guys have Japanese names, but they do have a naming scheme that they feel proud of... most likely. So instead of giving their kids names from Japan, why not give them names like their father?
I actually have a few suggestions that I like, so if you want, read more below. These are some really cool artists too!
Okay, so starting off with girl names, since female Renaissance artists are hard to find (to the point I included some Baroque artists too), I have a few ideas:
Artemisia - Let’s start with the technically Baroque artist, Artemisia Gentileschi. She was Italian, so at least that follows the name scheme, and had some of the harshest art at the time. Most of her art depicted women in non-traditional roles, often powerful and violent. Her art was shaped by a horrible tragedy in her past--being taken advantage of by one of her father’s partners--so she wanted to depict women as not subservient creatures, but people with their own minds and strength. Her art was specialized in women of myth who had suffered. Personally, I feel like Raph or Leo would like this name because of how powerful it sounds. It is derived from a masculine version of Artemis, after all. Name your daughter after a goddess! Example of her art (title - Jael and Sisera):
Tumblr media
Marietta - Next, we have Marietta Robusti, another Italian painter from an artistic family. She is the eldest daughter of Tintoretto, another famous Italian painter. In fact, she earned the nickname la Tintoretta because of her father. She had such a close relationship with her father that she would even dress like a boy to go with him everywhere. In fact, she had offers to become the court painter for Emperor Maximilian and King Philip II of Spain, but her father refused them because he wanted to stay close to her. Sounds like the perfect name for a daddy’s girl. XD Marietta does not have much art attributed to her, due to being a woman, but it is said she assisted her father with his paintings. Her art was described to be very elegant and just as skilled as her father’s. For some reason, I feel like Mikey would really like this name. Example of her art (self-portrait):
Tumblr media
Last for the girls (this could go on forever, if you let me):
Lavinia - After the Italian painter, Lavinia Fontana, best known for doing portraits and being one of the first female career artists--her family actually relied on her income as a painter rather than her husband’s, who served as her agent and raised their eleven children. She was also one of the first women to paint female nudes, but that’s a bit controversial. XD At the time she became famous, there was a high demand for portraits, so Lavinia had many clients. She was especially good with female clients, many of whom became namesakes and godmothers to her children. In regard to her female nudes, it was actually socially unacceptable for women at the time to be exposed to nudity--to the point that if anyone found out she used live models her entire reputation would be tarnished. It is theorized that she used family members as models to get around this, as her art was extremely accurate at depicting disproportionate bodies like they naturally are. Example of her (clean) art (title - Portrait of a Lady with a Lap Dog):
Tumblr media
So now we move onto the guys, though these are much easier to find (and I’m getting tired =_=), so I’ll be a bit shorter here. Now, if I’m being honest, the guy names sound weirder than the girls’, but then again the turtles’ name would sound weird if we weren’t used to them too:
Lorenzo - Coming from Lorenzo Costa, Italian painter. Not much is known about him (or at least I couldn’t find much), but I like the name! Example of his art (title - Holy Family):
Tumblr media
Antonello - I could see Donnie using this because it sounds like his name. Anyway, this is from the painter Antonello de Messina. He was known for his unison of Italian simplicity and Flemish attention to detail. He even influenced artists from northern Italy, despite being from southern Italy himself. Example of his art (title - The Virgin Annunciate):
Tumblr media
This is getting a bit long, so I’m gonna stop it here. I’m not even an art history buff, what am I doing writing so much? XD
Anyway, I hope anyone who actually read through this liked what I had to share. I found this name theme much more fun than just slapping Japanese names on the turtles’ kids. Though, if I’m being honest, I feel like only Leo and Donnie might go for this theme (Leo for family tradition and interest, and Donnie solely for interest). I see Raph and Mikey as the types to use more regular names for their kids.
Thank you for reading!

Review: Rise of the Turtles part 1 (TMNT 2012)
I know, I know I promised to post this during summer but instead I ended up editing my TMNT 2012 fanfiction. I ended up having some technical difficulties with this post. I did watch the episode but somehow all the screen shots I took just vanished. My guess is some form of Windows update happened and poof, all screen shots were gone.
I actually just got the first season on DVD yesterday – I finally ordered it online three or so weeks ago, I’ve been looking for Finnish release of the show ever since 2014 when it started to air in Finland but we got nothing. Not that I minded, the dub was decent but definitely lot worser than the dub 2003 series got from the group called Dubberman. So I’m more than happy to have the UK release of the first season.
Firstly I’d like to address one thing: I was hesitant to watch this show because I don’t like CGI that much anymore since it’s everywhere these days, but I was interested in it after scrolling some Turtlepedia especially after I saw one of my absolute favorite character from the 2003 show, April. When I read about Donnie’s crush on her, I recalled their relationship in the 2003 series – seeing Donatello and April interact was one of my favorite things about the show so naturally I was interested to see how well 2012 series pulled that off. Then I had this boring weekend and I decided to give it a try. I did and absolutely loved the show, I loved the turtles, I loved what they did with Splinter, I even loved this one character I thought I wouldn’t, what I didn’t love however was April – instead Karai became my favorite character.
But we get to that when we get to that. Let’s start this thing!
Tumblr media
Like with the previous post I’m not going to do full plot summary here, instead I’m doing this brief summary. If you are interested in full summary please go to sites like Turtlepedia for that!
Now this episode starts similarly to the 2003 series. We are introduced to our main characters as they are in training session. It turns out the turtles are celebrating their fifteenth birthday today and wish to go top side for the first time even though Splinter is hesitant to let them go. Eventually he does and the turtles get to see the what the world looks like outside sewers. It seems to be full of wonder… and dangers. Turtles witness a family of two, father and daughter getting kidnapped by a group of identical men, but are unable to rescue them due to their inability to work as a team. And Mikey finds out those men weren’t exactly human… but no one believes him. The group returns to the lair and they get scolded by Splinter for letting the kidnappers getting away because they couldn’t work as a team – then again, he does admit it’s partially his fault as he never trained them to fight as a team. While Splinter suggest they have another year to wait until their next visit to the top side, Donnie isn’t having it as he wants to save the poor kidnapped girl, he fell in love with at the first sight. After some convincing Splinter agrees to let them go and save her. Before they go however Splinter makes Leonardo their leader – the group does need a leader in order to function correctly after all, but as to why he chose Leo, isn’t clear. So, to the back side we go, after some time they manage to find one of the kidnappers and chase him until his car falls over. When Raph opens up the back door to the car a mysterious cannister filled with green ooze rolls over – looking a lot like the one broken cannister the turtles have in their lair, the one that had something to do with their current forms. And with that the first episode ends.
What I liked about the episode
+ Turtles actually acting like teenagers. I don’t think we have seen that in any other incarnation despite the show being called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.
+ What they did with Leo’s personality. I was so used to Leo being this perfect serious leader who’d win any training session against Raph, seeing Leo actually losing against Raph not to mention having this kind of geeky awkward side to his character was refreshing to see.
+ Master Splinter. I liked how he looked nothing like his former counterparts, I loved how they brought up his personality and most of all now he actually felt like a caring father to the turtles instead of being just their teacher. Not to mention how cool his design looks in this show!
+ The plot in general. For a pilot episode it did good job at presenting our four main characters, showing they, each have different personalities without spending too much on that. It had this sense of wonder when we see the turtles discovering the world for the first time. And there was action included as well but not in a way that our heroes just swoop in and save the day, I liked the fact they messed it up on their first try. I also liked how the episode didn’t end with turtles saving the day but rather with a cliff hanger because that would get viewers to want to catch the next episode – unlike 2003 series where it just ended, personally I wouldn’t have waited to see the next episode, unlike with this 2012 show.
+ Interaction and comedy between the turtles was well done, I definitely did have some laughs here and there.
+ The way flashbacks and ending stills are done in this version. What can I say? I just love the comic book style they went with!
What I didn’t like about this episode
- Well in general I liked this episode fine; it really didn’t have much to complain about, characters were solid, their backstory was solid, story was solid and the action was solid. Over all I’d say it’s a good episode. But if I had to pick one thing I did not like; it would be the way April was presented. Unlike the turtles she didn’t seem like a character, just a pretty girl shown to our faces who needed to be saved. I know that’s how it was intended but if I’d have to pick one thing I didn’t like about the episode, this would be it.
And now let’s say few words about the dub my country eventually got...
When this series finally started to air in Finland you better believe I got up every Sunday to watch this show, not because I hadn’t seen it, it was January 2014, I had already seen the episodes couple of times in English but I wanted to check out the dubbed version especially after seeing the voice cast. Just by looking at the voices seemed like this dub would go either way. It could be good or really bad. Like with seasons 3-4 and 6-7 of TMNT 2003 a group called Dubberman. And I wasn’t completely trusting for the fact they would do the show justice. I mean they did skip over the season 5 in 2003 series – and later season 3 in 2012 series so…
The dub was decent, not great, not the worst we could have gotten but decent. There were some errors like they called Raphael “Rafaello” or “Rafa” for short like in the dubbed VHS/DVD release of 1980 series – luckily, they stopped doing that after few episodes because it bothered me a lot. Another thing was how those Japanese phases were pronounced – in this episode by Leo. They didn’t sound right at least when you compare to the original version.
The voice cast was okay. It consisted of some familiar and great voice actors like Jon-Jon Geitel as Leo who has also voiced characters like Jack Frost from the Rise of the guardians or Jake Long from American Dragon: Jake Long – I think this is where I first heard his voice acting. More recently he voiced Aladdin in the live action version from 2019. Another familiar voices we had were Aksu Palmén as Donatello who had voiced characters like Hiccup in How to train your dragon, and Markus Bäckman as Master Splinter – It’s better I won’t go in too much details on his voicing career because he has done a lot of good voice acting in TV and Disney movies. These two were probably the most suited for their roles. Especially Markus Bäckman as Splinter. He sounded just right for the part. Then there was Henri Piispanen who I hadn’t heard much voice acting from before TMNT. I think he was solid pick for Raph – not as good as Sean Astin but they could have gone for worse. Then there were couple unknown actors Miro Loopperi who voiced Mikey and Ella Jaakkola who voiced April.
Miro Looperi did fine job as Mikey but he didn’t really sound like him. This reminds me of 2003 series as Mikey had a voice actor in the Finnish dub that I liked, but one that didn’t sound like him when compared his original voice. This has the same feeling to it. And now Ella Jaakkola, she had this high-pitched kind of bitchy voice I found annoying but at the same time I thought it kind of worked for April’s character because I knew what would become of her character in season 2. I remember thinking: “I can’t wait to hear this voice in Mutation Situation!” – Too bad they changed her voice for season 2.
Now, don’t expect me to do this thing for all the episodes where I talk a little bit about the Finnish dub as I’ve only seen the first season dubbed – I don’t even know when season 2 aired. And I don’t have many notes about the dub. Nor do I remember much of it. I have notes for I think five or so episodes and very good memory for Karai’s debut episode but that’s about it. As I said earlier so far now DVD releases have been made in Finland so I would only have access through streaming services to seasons 4 and 5 – which I haven’t even watched completely yet. I can only hope Netflix or Viaplay would upload the dubbed versions of TMNT to their servers but as we lack DVD releases or reruns of seasons 1 and 2 and season 3 in general that’s very unlikely.
And now some screenshots!
Tumblr media
Would you look at that? Leo actually lost to Raph.
Tumblr media
Is that supposed to be Splinter? He looks kind of cool - were my first thoughts when he appeared on the screen.
Tumblr media
Happy Mutation day! I just love their expressions here.
Tumblr media
And it’s flashback time! I really love the way they did and animated the flashbacks in this version.
Tumblr media
Splinter holding the broken mutagen canister.
Tumblr media
...And Mikey giving it a hug.
Tumblr media
They are finally able to go to the top side. Look at how happy they are - I mean even Raph is smiling.
Tumblr media
Well I just like this shot of Splinter.
Tumblr media
Leo and Space Heroes. I love how proud he looks here.
Tumblr media
“Hai, sensei!” - This is probably one of my favorite scenes in this episode. It shows that over protective side of Splinter which is one of the many things I love about the show.
Tumblr media
Turtles entering the top side for the first time.
Tumblr media
Donnie geeking out at computer stuff while Raph is not interested. Personally being a geek myself, I see lot of myself in Donatello during this moment.
Tumblr media
Turtles are about to find out what pizza is.
Tumblr media
Oh, look at that it’s a love interest... I mean it’s my least favorite character... I mean it’s April.
Tumblr media
And Donnie is in love with her. Just like that.
Tumblr media
I know April is supposed to be scared here but I find her expression hilarious. It cracks me every time.
Tumblr media
Fighting is not going too well here.
Tumblr media
Or here.
Tumblr media
Saving April.
Tumblr media
I really like this shot of Donnie smiling. He looks kind of adorable. I mean who would scream after seeing that adorable face?
Tumblr media
April of course!
Tumblr media
I find Donnie’s reaction and posture here priceless, it’s like: “Oh my god, what did I just touch?”
Tumblr media
April is being cornered by creepy men.
Tumblr media
And Donnie’s offering to help her.
Tumblr media
But that doesn’t really work out. Mikey looks adorable though!
Tumblr media
I guess The Kraang didn’t fancy April’s screaming either.
Tumblr media
And here’s Mikey, facing a suspicious man all by himself.
Tumblr media
...That is not a man at all.
Tumblr media
Okay what the hell is that thing?
Tumblr media
You know what Mikey, I totally agree with you.
Tumblr media
Turtles are having a conversation about the leader stuff. And they all can’t believe what they just heard.
Tumblr media
Here is Leo facepalming. One of my favorite scenes in the episode.
Tumblr media
“I thinking of something green. Green.” “Is it Raphael again?”
Tumblr media
Cornering Snake.
Tumblr media
Ending still.
Anyway, this was my review for the first episode of TMNT 2012. Next time I think I’m doing review for the second episode of 2003 series, so stay tuned for that. Or something.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) Season 5 Review
This was a great show! I discovered the series on Hulu just before Season 5 aired and was immediately drawn to its fun, exciting, off-kilter personality. Though I grew up on the 1980s animated series and movies of the 90s, it’s an extremely close toss-up between this version and the current IDW comic for my favorite version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; I think the brilliant mix of science and the supernatural in the Turtles’ comic made for their best origin story, but this show’s characters and overall storylines probably put it slightly ahead. I loved that it fully explored the scope of the Turtles mythology and had several ongoing, engaging plots while taking the time to do some really fun and/or bizarre one-off adventures. The action was always riveting and the cast was perfect. However, I think the final season was a bit uneven.
I was really impressed that they took the risk of killing off both Splinter (Hoon Lee) and Shredder (Kevin Michael Richardson) at the end of Season 4 and I was excited to see what the Turtles would be like on their own, particularly how Leonardo (Seth Green) would handle leading since this show has been so good about putting him through his paces in that area. Season 5’s first arc didn’t disappoint, even though I was wary about immediately trying to bring back Shredder (and Splinter) so soon; this arc would've been at home in midseason or as a series finale too, after we’d had some time to breathe without each side’s leaders. Tiger Claw’s (Eric Bauza) use of a demodragon named Kavaxas (Mark Hamill) to resurrect the Foot’s late leader worked as a compelling plot despite my misgivings and I was thrilled when it didn’t go the way Tiger Claw wanted. Zombie Shredder naming Kavaxas his new second in command instead of Tiger Claw was a perfect, fun twist. Kavaxas later turning on everyone to rule both the living realm and the Netherworld himself was foreshadowed pretty clearly, but his ghost/zombie apocalypse was a lot of fun and became a great excuse to get our heroic terrapins into a Ghostbusters riff (they even included Ray’s Occult Shop and Vigo’s lines from Ghostbusters 2!). This arc was a cool way to showcase the supernatural side of the series, with a great (if brief) demonic villain in Kavaxas, brought to life with an awesome performance from Mark Hamill. Kavaxas was so powerful and ruthless—like when he pulled the soul out of Tatsu (Michael Hagiwara) without thinking twice—that he could’ve worked as a season-long enemy.
Regardless, this arc was a great, exciting, and touching kick off to the season. I do think it would’ve been a bit stronger to have Tiger Claw summon Kavaxas for his own purposes instead of to resurrect Shredder though; what ideas for leadership does Tiger Claw have? That would've been something entirely different for the Turtles to face. He was always a major threat to the guys and could’ve at least tried to lead the Foot rebels himself before resorting to summoning demons and bringing back Shredder. Given the release of souls in the arc, Shredder and Splinter could've come back as a side effect of summoning Kavaxas anyway, still allowing the Turtles to briefly reunite with Splinter and Karai (Kelly Hu) with Shredder. However, it still worked as it played out. That the guys got to say a real goodbye to Splinter was touching and a great use of his ghost, while zombie Shredder ultimately dragging Kavaxas back to the Netherworld was a nice touch. I’m very glad the writers resisted the impulse to permanently bring back either Shredder or Splinter: we’d seen enough of both of them and their return would've hampered the progress of the Turtles. I also don’t know how any plot with Shredder could’ve topped the epic final battle at the end of Season 4.
The character development and side stories that came out of the Kavaxas arc were good too. I liked Leo looking to Splinter’s shrine in a moment of doubt about his leadership skills. Donnie’s (Rob Paulson) grudge against Don Vizioso (Brian Bloom) was a great bit of character development, especially as it briefly made him the “Raph” of the team, running off on a vendetta that screwed up things for his brothers. Karai vs. her old, blind teacher Hattori Tatsu was a great look at a different part of her past. I really wish we’d learned more about what she wanted to do with the reformed Foot and this battle for the rightful ownership of Shredder’s Kuro Kabato would’ve been the perfect time to explore that. Does she want them to be a force for good in the city; a network of ninja vigilantes fighting crime? Or does she have other plans? Either way, Tiger Claw calling a ceasefire between the Hamato and Foot clans because of their team-up against Kavaxas was a nice touch and an unexpected way to end the threat of the rebel Foot for good. With no more Foot to lead, I suppose he returned home after that. Likewise, Fishface (Christian Lanz) bailing on the Foot to return to his old life of low-stakes crime after giving the Turtles a heads up about Shredder was perfect. Rahzar (Clancy Brown) was always a lot of fun, so even though his brief resurrection didn't make much of an impact on the show or characters, it was good to see him again one last time. Falling into the Netherworld was a solid way to undo that resurrection. It was also nice to get a brief return of Ho Chan (James Hong) and closure for even minor villains like Don Vizioso and Hammer (Eric Bauza). They must’ve pushed the censors to their limit by giving Vizioso Shredder’s actual heart! Yikes. Tiger Claw’s mutate underlings having been mutated by Super Shredder’s mutagen leftovers, thereby giving them all a sliver of his mind/personality, was a cool (if brief) new wrinkle to the Foot. I also liked the introduction of the latest 2D animated parody show, Space Heroes: The Next Generation. That was a nice full-circle choice.
I liked that Mona Lisa (Zelda Williams) and Sal Commander (Keith David) got to return—along with the Newtralizer (Danny Trejo) and Lord Dregg (Jeffrey Combs)—to wrap up the outer space segment of the series. I love how dense the universe this show built for the Turtles is and the fact that this season revisited every part of it was a smart decision. Raphael’s (Sean Astin) reunion with Mona Lisa was great and I really liked that they subverted expectations of their courtship with him being completely dumbfounded by her and bashful in her presence. Given his role in the space segment of the series, it felt like Casey (Josh Peck) should’ve played a big role in this mini-arc. Still, this arc maintained the epic scope of the space segment of the series. Dregg’s invasion and plan to use humans as larval pods for the Vreen was exactly as long as it needed to be, with the exception of one plot point. That stumbling block was Mikey’s (Greg Cipes) “death,” which was a total shocker (pun absolutely intended). I had no idea how they were going to write themselves out of that, so to have him just…be OK, just briefly electrical-powered all of a sudden was a letdown. Even so, I liked that this was a fast-paced wrap-up of the space stuff and it was cool that they found a way to even close off Lord Dregg and Newtralizer this season.
The Turtles’ journey to Miyamoto Usagi’s (Yuki Matsuaki) anthropomorphic alternate world was a solid adventure, but I would’ve liked to see more development within the Turtles along the way. Specifically, I would’ve liked something about the guys looking at this world and thinking they could make a real life out in the open here. They wouldn’t have to hide ever again and this doesn’t really cross their minds as something they might like? Their inability to live without pizza or TV would be a totally acceptable argument for them going home, but it could’ve at least been a discussion. I was expecting Kintaro’s (Evan Kishiyama) supremely annoying nature (they did a great job at making him a brat) to bounce off Mikey’s shenanigans more than they did too; how does Mikey handle suddenly being the more mature one? Kintaro’s brattiness could’ve been a wake-up call that he might need to grow up a little bit. Also, did any of the Turtles look at Usagi and see Splinter or a future version of themselves? Leo bolstering Kintaro’s confidence was a good moment for his development as a leader, though. I also really liked the world-building that went into these episodes: they did a great job of establishing Usagi’s world and making it feel lived-in and old. The opening scene of Usagi’s first battle with Jei (Keone Young) and his story about the death of his master General Mifune went a long way to give it a sense of history. I liked the use of the mischievous Japanese spirits and the spiders were super creepy; even though it took place on an alternate world, this mini-arc gave the Turtles a brief exposure to the culture Splinter instilled in them (though I wish at least one of them had come away wanting to actively practice and live it more). Starting the episode from Usagi’s point of view, introducing the Turtles as pawns of Jei, and making the focus Kintaro’s growth rather than the Turtles’ (even if it would’ve been stronger to have them also changed by their adventure), was a cool way to make this mini-arc distinctive and to change up the episode formula.
The flashback to the earliest days of Splinter raising his turtle sons was a nice one-off adventure, but didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the arcs that wrapped up plots or just went big this year. Maybe it’s because I know the Turtles’ origin so well, but I didn’t need to see this show’s variation on how they came to live in the sewers or get their weapons/names. This flashback to the early days didn’t shed much if any new light on the Kraang (Nolan North), but did serve its function as a nice way to touch base with where the show started in the midst of arcs about everywhere it went. Splinter’s realization that the Turtles have given him a second chance at fatherhood (he still believed Karai was dead at this point) was the biggest and best moment of the episode. While a solid episode that would’ve been fine in an earlier season, I felt like this slot could’ve been put to better use as part of a bigger story.
“Raphael: Mutant Apocalypse” was my least favorite arc this season. It was a fun and definitely original idea—I never would’ve thought of putting the Turtles into Mad Max’s world—but it overstayed its welcome and if it’s meant to be the canon future of this world, why? Why kill April (Mae Whitman), Casey, and nearly everyone else we know for this depressing apocalypse? My head-canon is that this is just one of the ten dimensions (and every synopsis I’ve read states that it’s an alternate future, but it would’ve been nice to confirm that onscreen). Mira the Meerkat (Jessica DiCicco) was a fine character, but it felt like she was there more to introduce the map plot than anything else. Still, it was nice to see Chompy (Dee Bradley Baker) continue to grow and that Ice Cream Kitty (Kevin Eastman) had survived. The Honey Badgers were threatening enough to be legitimate obstacles, but not really distinctive from the villains the Turtles faced on a daily basis.
I felt like “Mutant Apocalypse” went on for an episode too long and despite the fresh setting, didn’t really do much interesting with the characters. Raph becoming a hardened, grizzled scavenger, Donnie Metalhead, and Mikey a new age desert sage certainly made sense as outcomes for those characters, but they also felt like the most obvious directions for each of them to go. What if instead, Donnie rebuilt Raph as Metalhead to keep his brother going, replacing him piece by piece as his brother was continually worn down in fights? Losing parts of his body to mechanics and being unable to depend on himself to fight would affect Raph far more than tech-obsessed Donnie. What if Donnie was losing his mind in the desert and the only thing keeping him focused and lucid was tinkering; keeping himself going by keeping Raph and their van going? Losing his memory like Ralph was also would’ve been a greater tragedy for Donnie, since his best weapon is his mind. What if Mikey were the one that became the serious, hardened road warrior in the absence of Leo? The death of his brother (and the world) could’ve been a wake-up call that this wasn’t a game and the loss of his innocence would’ve been a tragedy in itself. If you’re going to flip the whole world upside down, why not take the characters to unexpected extremes as well? Leo turning out to be Maximus Kong was the only real surprise (I bought that he was dead at first)—and a nice connection to the parallel universe Space Heroes: TNG episode that revealed the hero characters we’d been watching were the bad guys—but “hero driven mad” doesn’t really resonate when Leo never gets a chance to truly reflect on what he’s done. Will Leo ever have to answer for the horrors he and his army inflicted on the world? It doesn’t seem so. Instead, as daring a development as it was, the lack of consequences made it feel like nothing more than a way to make the mysterious enemy important. If there had been any indication in the normal timeline that Leo could go bad, Maximus Kong would make more sense, because it’d be something inside him brought to the surface by the mutagen bomb. However, making him just angry/confused and accidentally evil pulled the rug out from everything he’d done. I did like the reversal of Leo and Raph’s relationship, though, where Leo was the one overcome by anger and instinct and Raph had the more level head. There’s also a good moment of the surviving brothers mourning Leo before they find out he’s still alive.
It was cool that they also took the time to wrap up Renet (Ashley Johnson) and Savanti Romero (Graham McTavish), and taking a mini-arc to revisit the time travel aspect of the Turtle universe was another inspired way to make this season a true exploration of everything this series was. I love the classic Universal monsters, so to see so many of them translated here (right down to the episode title cards!) was awesome! I liked the Halloween invasion by the legion of monsters, and while I wish Casey and April had been given more to do, making them vampires was definitely creepy. I was impressed they made Dracula (Chris Sarandon) so evil and loved every second of it. They also did a great job giving the Mummy (Grant Moninger) some real power. Frankenstein and his Monster (both played by Grant Moninger as well) fit into the story perfectly, and the fight throughout Frankenstein’s lab was a particular standout. The Turtles’ disguises and excuses for what they were (trolls, goblins, etc.) throughout Europe in the various time periods were a lot of fun, and Leo’s Van Helsing dig was especially funny. Vampire Raph was another really fun use of the monster storyline and I was surprised by how long they let him remain a bloodsucker. Mikey’s bond with Frankenstein’s Monster was great and Mary Shelley’s classic creation was a cool connection to our similarly misunderstood heroes.
I enjoyed the final arc, but it also left me a little disappointed since it was the series finale. The 80s Shredder and Krang (Pat Fraley) showing up was an OK idea—I especially loved Krang sitting in a booster seat at a diner: that was brilliant!—but it felt wrong to give this show’s finale to a retread of a team-up we already saw earlier in the series. It felt like they went for nostalgia instead of making a final statement about this show, and that was a shame: the characters and world of this show are exceptionally strong and should’ve been honored with their own finale. As big and classic as Shredder and Krang are as Turtle villains, going back to that well at this point was underwhelming (particularly when you’re dealing with intentionally less-dangerous versions). I was also disappointed Mona Lisa wasn’t with the Mutanimals in the finale. They set her up to join them in her return this year, but then didn’t even mention her absence here. That said, there were some great moments in these episodes. It was cool to see our Turtles train and toughen up the 80s guys; I was surprised at how far they took the original show’s Turtles not using their weapons for actual combat (“Someone could get hurt!”). Our April’s “Do reporters in your world wear jumpsuits?” was another fun line. Shredder and Krang being so surprised at how efficient our Bebop (J.B. Smoove) & Rocksteady (Fred Tatasciore) were was also fun. Karai meeting an alternate version of her “father” was cool, but I feel like they could’ve done more with it. Our Bebop and Rocksteady reforming is such a fun idea that I wish they’d given it more time to breathe. Would the Turtles help mentor them? Get tired of their antics and accidentally drive them back to crime? What if Bebop & Rocksteady accidentally became wildly successful as public heroes, maybe even getting paid for their services? How jealous would the Turtles be that these fools found a way to come out of hiding and be celebrated for their heroics? I wish this arc had been the opening storyline of the season, allowing Bebop & Rocksteady’s evolution to continue over the course of the year.
The Turtles being bored after defeating all their enemies was a solid idea—and I love that the show had actual endings for their villains, not never-ending back-and-forth struggles—but I would’ve preferred more forward momentum in harnessing their own destinies. Some effort at getting out of the sewers and making a real change to their status quo would’ve been great and totally new. In a season full of mini-arcs about where the guys had been over the course of the series, I would’ve loved an exploration of where they’re going. Will people ever accept them? Will their personalities always bring them to this configuration of the team (Leo leads, Mikey’s a party dude, etc)? Raph made great strides to overcome his rage on this show, but will he ever find real inner peace? What will Leo do when/if the guys don't want to fight anymore? Are their new students for him to train somewhere? Would he lead the Foot with Karai? Might Donnie become a reclusive tech mogul and/or video game designer? What does the future have in store for Mikey? Could he become a X-Games contestant? Party-animal DJ? Chef? All of the above? What about the guys’ love lives? I definitely thought it was past time for Donnie to be over April and I would’ve liked to see her and Casey get together while Donnie moves on to a new love interest. It felt like that triangle had been settled already and to hint that he still had those feelings for her felt like a step backward. In addition to exploring those questions, I really wish we’d seen much more of April, Casey, Karai, and Shinigami (Gwendoline Yeo) this year. All four of them seemed to largely vanish this season and that’s a shame. What do April and Casey want out of their lives beyond helping the guys fight crime? The two of them are major characters and their lack of focus here felt wrong. What are Karai and Shinigami going to do with the reformed Foot? I’m glad that so many villains got wrapped up, but are there new threats on the horizon? Will there be a resolution to the existence of mutants in New York; will they become an accepted part of daily life, get cured somehow, or will something entirely different happen?
I know it seems like I’m being hard on this season, but I still had a lot of fun with it and this show in general. It rekindled my love of the Turtles and I’m really sorry to see it end so soon after discovering it. I’m eager to check out the tie-in comics from this show, but there are TV elements comics can’t replicate. All the actors were perfect for their roles; these are the voices I’m going to hear when I read TMNT comics for a very long time. I loved the character designs, the personalities of the characters (these are also going to be the definitive versions for me for a long time coming), and that the action was always kinetic and exciting. The arcs each character got were great (even if this season stumbled a bit in that department), and this show definitely made the best use of April yet. I loved that the show was willing to go dark when the story called for it (without ever forgetting to be funny or downright silly) and loved even more that it was willing to go WEIRD. “Pizza Face,” man. The homages to sci-fi of the 80s and 90s were right up my alley, so they were very much appreciated. The new theme song incorporating just enough of the 80s theme to feel like the Turtles while still being something new made it instantly catchy and a perfect summation of this series as a whole. It’s probably even better than the classic 80s version and I wish they hadn’t changed it this season (though this lyric-less version wasn’t bad).
I’ll miss this show a lot, but I know I’ll revisit it often down the road. Despite a few missed opportunities for character development and plot progression this year, these Turtles still have it and are definitely worth checking out!

Olympic Hospitality: Tokyo’s rough road to Olympic 2020 Games
The Shinjuku neighborhood bustles at midday, its streets filled with tourists and shoppers and subway riders emerging from an underground station. Everyone goes about their business, paying no mind to the immense construction site in their midst.
Olympic 2020 fans from all over the world are invited to book Olympic 2020 tickets from our online platforms for Olympic Tickets. Olympic Hospitality admirers can book Olympic Hospitality from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on discounted prices.
Not so long ago, the new Olympic Stadium a centerpiece for the upcoming Summer Games was a lightning rod for criticism in this city, with residents pushing back against its original, $2-billion versions.
Tumblr media
The first design was scrapped and replaced by one about half the price. It was part of an overall effort to control rising costs that had organizers and the government combining to spend an estimated $30 billion.
“We have been able to cut the budget,” Masa Takaya, a spokesman, said during a meeting at organizing committee headquarters last week. “We can say that Tokyo has been doing its best to deliver the Games in a sustainable way.”
Now, with the opening ceremony scheduled for a year from Wednesday, Tokyo Olympic can point to good news as fans clamor for tickets and corporations pledge billions of dollars in sponsorships.
At the stadium site, the clanging of heavy machinery is merely an echo from somewhere inside. Workers have finished the exterior, installing wooden slats and greenery meant to evoke the serenity of a traditional Japanese temple. But some Olympic scholars continue to wonder about these Games.
“They have tried to scale back in a bunch of ways,” said Victor Matheson, a sports economist at College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts. “We’re still looking at unofficial costs which would make this the second-most-expensive Olympics in history.”
Timing is part of the issue. When the International Olympic Committee selected Tokyo in 2013, its members had a reputation for choosing cities that promised to spend the most. This tendency scared away some potential hosts. It didn’t help when Russia poured an estimated $51 billion into the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.
As Matheson noted: “Fifty-one billion makes it hard for the IOC to sell the Olympics to anyone.”
Tumblr media
Later that year, the IOC passed Agenda 2020, the first step in a campaign to make hosting more affordable, in part by encouraging the use of existing venues. Leaders referred to this as the “New Norm.”
Paris and Los Angeles reacted by submitting relatively economical bids that were chosen for the next two Summer Games, but the shift came a bit late for Tokyo, which was facing criticism back home.
Agenda 2020 “certainly accelerated” a decision by organizers and the national government to review their master plan, Takaya said.
The national stadium drew most of the attention as officials dumped British architect Zaha Hadid’s lavish design some complained that it looked like a giant turtle — in favor of a more modest proposal from Japanese architect Kengo Kuma was estimated to cost $1.2 billion. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described the change as a legacy which the next generation can be proud of.
Organizers cut costs in other ways, shifting events such as basketball and equestrian to existing venues, including some that dated back to the 1964 Summer Games. All of this moved Tokyo closer in line with new IOC policies; among the 43 venues required, eight would be new, 10 would be temporary and 25 would be existing.
Two expensive projects were preserved. In addition to the stadium, organizers continued to build a sprawling athletes village at the edge of Tokyo Bay, where crews now scramble around the skeletons of high-rise buildings in the stultifying heat.
At the nearby Tokyo Olympic headquarters, two life-sized plush figures official mascots Miraitowa and Some sit on chairs in the lobby. With reports estimating overall spending by organizers and various government entities at $25 billion or more, Takaya expresses satisfaction with what his committee has done for its portion.
“We feel that with Agenda Olympic 2020, our venue master plan has certainly become more refined,” he said. “It is able to meet the public needs, the needs of this generation.”
Paris has estimated it can stage the 2024 Summer Games for about $8 billion in private and public money, though that number is expected to rise. L.A. 2028’s latest budget projection is about $7 billion, with organizers predicting they can generate enough revenue to cover all costs. Given these numbers, Matheson isn’t overly enthusiastic about Tokyo.
Tumblr media
“It’s hard for me to lavish much praise on $25 billion,” the economist said. “It’s like an arsonist who says, yes, I set fire to the house, but then I called the fire department and saved one bedroom.”
Back in 2013, during the bid phase, the Japanese forecast expenses at $7 billion. Since then, cost overruns have been accompanied by significant missteps. Around the time officials were switching stadium designs, they had to nix the official logo because it too closely resembled one used by a Belgian theater. Then the head of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Tsunekazu Takeda agreed to step down amid allegations that bribes were paid to secure the bid.
Even more troubling, a human rights organization reported that workers many of them foreigners brought into the country under a program that affords them less protection than it does Japanese citizens were being subjected to long hours and dangerous conditions at venue construction sites.
“The truth is, these are all ingrained Olympic problems,” said Jules Boykoff, a Pacific (Ore.) University political science professor who studied similar issues surrounding the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. “We’re seeing them play out in Japan.”
Despite the high-profile controversies, Takaya says the Games remain “on track.” He also dismisses budget criticisms by invoking the curious math of the Olympic movement, which divides costs and shifts them around.
Organizing committees usually focus on the operating budget the price of running events day-to-day and wash their hands of the billions that governments spend on infrastructures such as stadiums, roadways, and hotels, which ends up on a different ledger.
Tokyo Olympic takes responsibility for $5.6 billion in operational expenses, but not for the $20 billion or so that will be spent by the national and local governments. Officials also insist that Japan needed much of the infrastructure spurred by the Games.
The athlete’s village will be converted to apartments and condominiums in a city of 9.2 million. The stadium replaces an aging facility that had grown obsolete; for example, it no longer met the standards to host a track world championship. None of these arguments mollify critics, who note that no matter how the accounting plays out, taxpayers will foot much of the bill.
“I feel like I know the history of the Games too well,” Boykoff said. “We should always be highly skeptical.”
Cicadas sing from the trees surrounding Yumenoshima Park the site of Tokyo’s new archery venue — their thrum making a humid morning feel a little heavier. Half of the new Tokyo Olympic venues are complete, so organizers have begun to hold test events; an international field of archers competed here last week.
“This venue is incredible,” said Brady Ellison, a world champion from the U.S. “When we went out the other night in our team gear, walking through the train station, people were saying, ‘Go USA,’ and taking pictures with us.”
Budget issues notwithstanding, the buzz here is palpable. Tokyo Olympic new logo a blue, checkered circle is plastered across the city on taxi cabs and in storefront windows. Merchandise shops are reportedly doing good business and, even in a rural prefecture 180 miles north, colorful banners fly beside the highway.
Tumblr media
“Whenever we see the Olympics, every two years, we always see big, big excitement from the general public,” Takaya said. “The TV audience rating is extremely high compared to other parts of the world.”
This passion has translated into more than $3 billion in domestic sponsorships, three times the previous record of $1.1 billion set by London for the 2012 Summer Games. IOC executive John Coates called it “an amazing amount of money.
When organizers held a lottery last month, 7.5 million people registered for the chance to buy 3.2 million tickets. With so many fans turned away, a second and perhaps third public sale is in the works. So it remains to be seen how these Olympic will be viewed, not just during next summer’s competition but in the long run, after the cheering has subsided and Japan is left holding the tab. Critics are dubious. Japanese officials are doggedly optimistic.
“People are absolutely passionate about having the Games next year,” Takaya said. “This is a very exciting time.”

COLORCODED TMNT AU RANT (with no edits)
Previous post of Colorcoded : Art dump and edited lore of Colorcoded :
Tumblr media
I'm having such a brainrot of my own versions of the turtl universe it's awful. Like i wanna draw it but i CAN'T and it's awful Anyway I will info dump here instead Okay so first, the boys have japanese as their first language I always found it weird that Splinter (a japanese dude) raised them in english, when in most versions THEY AREN'T SUPPOSED TO INTERACT WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD So like, japanese as their first language but as soon as they express desire to go out and/or become ninjas (yes because unlike other versions he wouldn't FORCE that on them) he'd teach them english :) Splinter in himself is literally what I told you about some days ago rhzvdbzvdb He has 2 modes : sensei and dad Both the cool parent and the strict one They're all very close and a tight family :)))) INCLUDING SPLINTER
April is canadian and Casey is half-korean because in his 2012 concept art he DIDN'T look like a white boy and i always thought that was neatvrjzvfje No one in the main cast is american
Okay so in the ColorCoded AU (i will call it thatrvjzvfjzb) Splinter was a ninja master that got splattered with mutagene (much like 2012). The turtles were actually the only thing he brought with him from Japan, they're his last attachment with his home and past (they get splattered at the same time) So Splinter decided to raise them as a father would, not a sensei. He did continue training despite his appearance, and Raph was the first one to take interest in his training sessions
Like at that point they're all like 5, and none of his bros really care about it, but Raph always hides and observe their dad and then tried to re-do the movements. Splinter noticed it and suggested training him. Raph is super excited and accepts, his father underlining the fact that's it's not a lifelong commitment unless he wants it to be. He can get out if he wants to.
So Raph's starts training and quickly enough Leo gets jealous. (In this versions they're seen as twins) He asks to his dad if he can train too. Splinter refuses since he wanted to train out og jealousy and competitive spirit. He didn't think it was right to start teaching him this way. Meanwhile Donnie and Mikey are still completely uninterested
So Leo is like ):< and goes mopping in his room until after raph's training session where Splinter goes to see him and talks to him. Then Leo still wants to start training but out of genuine interest of the skill, not because of jealousy. So Splinter accepts :)
There's like at LEAST several months that goes by where Leo and Raph are being trained and the others not. I kinda went this way because of the whole skill difference in 2012 vrjeveje like, they always show raph and leo as more skilled but never really explains WHY
Then the other twos are starting to be kinda interested in what their family is doing, but they still don't want to participate. Splinter let them watch from a safe distance, and if Donnie is content doing just that, mikey finds it super cool and wants to join too but also doesn't want to leave his bro behind. So he doesn't say anything
There's like at least a year or two that goes by and Raph and Leo are still the only ones training. By that point Mikey's interest is like vibrating (#adhd and that's his hyperfixation) and Donnie is still completely uninterested. He'd rather jump headfirst in books, both fictional and theorical
My boy Donnie not JUST being obsessed with science Give him childhood slam table Fantastical books
Dragons ? Impossible. However, really cool in theory Since he CAN'T join his brothers because he felt like that would be unfair to Donnie, Mikey tries to redirect his hyperfixation elsewhere, and starts sketching and painting his brothers training
They all think it's really cool, even if well he's like 7 so it's not like actual MICHELANGELO level, but it's still like more level than regular child art It's not great But it's alright It's not something you'd look at and think "ah yes, a 7 y.o made this" Eventually a 13 y.o Anyway So Donnie is reading and Mikey is painting. Meanwhile, their brothers are getting the handle of the ultimate basics and are getting better ! They still really like it and sometime they use it to settle disagreement between them. Not that Splinter knows, but what he doesn't know can't hurt him So here they all are, at that point.
Splinter is in front of Mikey's newest painting, and he's starting to wonder if his son doesn't actually want to do more than just paint them. So he asks, anf oh surprise, Mikey has very mixed reaction. From an original "YES !" to an immediate "i mean meh" to bursting into tears
O-O uh okay -splinter at that moment probably So he sits with him and asks what's wrong. Mikey explains everything, and Splinter has little time to talk to him that Donnie pushes Mikey's door, looking confused and worried. He says he didn't want his little bro to not do what he want for him. So what if he's not interested. It's cool, mikey can still do it But mikey is like ): but you'll be separated from everyone else it's not fair. So to settle the situation, Splinter suggest they both try it out for a test run. If, like he thinks, Donnie doesn't like it, he doesn't have to stay ! But he'd have tried :) Mikey agrees to this because he also thinks Donnie won't stay BUT ! If he TRIES then it means he could ALSO TRY OUT SOME OF THE COOL NINJA STUFF Then leave with his brother because he doesn't want him to be alone
First session for Donnie and Mikey and as planned, Donnie HATES IT. Like EVERY minute of it. Mikey loves it, but tones it down a lot because of Donnie's mood. The next day, Leo, Raph and Splinter start their session, all absolutely convinced Donnie wouldn't show up for a second try (hence mikey neither) and then OH IS THAT A PURPLE TURTLE
They're all super surprised, (behind Donnie is an overjoyed stimming mikey), and Donnie looks super embarassed, apologizing for his behavior the day before. He explains that he had started getting some severe joints pain from the positions he sat in to read, and couldn't get rid of it. It was messing with his focus to read and he hated it but was too embarassed about it to talk to the family about it
Like imagine showing up to dinner thinking "i'm gonna tell them about my pains ):" and then your brothers shows up bandaged because they trained hard all day Oof not talking now
So he had chronic pains that were severely bothering him, but surprisingly as he woke up that morning they were gone. He had the muscles tiredness due to training but it was way better than his pains. He sat down and read more in one hour than he had been in a day lately. Donnie concluded that some physical activity might do him a lot of good, and what better physical activity than the one that's traditional for his family So naturally splinter is like
He invites them in and that's the story of how each turtles started their paths as ninjas Also as time passed Donnie grew more and more fond to the ninja training, and now although he hates to admit it, he loves being a ninja With his brothers :) Welcome to ColorCoded!turtl universe
Okay so like in Rise, April is their childhood friend. She was adventuring in the sewer and just happened to find them. Casey gets in much like IDW, where they meet because of school, but unlike IDW they're not COLLEGE STUDENTS dvhefvejrvbe Casey was like brand new in town (and in the school), in the middle of the year and he needed to catch up, so they appointed the BEST student of his class to help, and it was April :). At first she was very  (even tho he didn't IMMEDIATLY FLIRT like someone cough 2012caseyimlookingatyou cough) because well Casey, buuuut even if school isn't his main interest, she does realize he's a good person, and they become friends (because they each had none. Casey was new, and April was considered the "nerd" and "teacher suck up". She actually realizes he's a good person because he helps her scare off some bullies)
He doesn't immediatly meets the turtles, and he wasn't doing his vigilante stuff immediatly. His current family life is his overworked dad he barely sees (his dad is trying to make sure they live comfortably and don't realize the precarity of the situation. Casey does realize it) and his little sister, that was homeschooled for now because she mostly speaks Korean and barely any english (which wouldn't help in school)
Yeah ! They're like 15/16 when the story takes place :D all of them
So like Casey mostly tries to find a job to help his dad before even remotely thinking of going roof jumping. He also tries to help his sister but he sucks at it so he calls April for help. His dad doesn't know that Casey is also trying to bring in cash, but when he realizes it, he gets angry, saying Casey shouldn't waste his teenagehood on this kind of thing, and that it was HIS job, as the adult. They argue for a bit, until the dad kind of like, let go of his angry persona and is just super depressed. Casey finally understands his dad works SO hard EXACTLY so HE can enjoy his time as a teen before getting hit with responsibilities, and he promises not to work
But at the same time, his family is barely surviving, and he's sure that with his grades he isn't going to get a great job so he kinda gets desesperate, trying to "enjoy his teens" but mostly stressing out for his family and trying to hide it. He gets enrolled in the hockey team and is thrilled to see it's paying. Until his grades get too low and the dean forces him to leave the team. At that point, Casey is on the verge of snapping, and he just wants to help his family, whatever the cost. So he takes his hockey mask and stick and he goes trying to rob a bank
Take a wild guess who is let out of the lair for the first time that very night
So Casey is doing literally the worst thing ever, as every Casey would, and tries to rob a bank, feeling AWFUL doing it, voice shaking and all. He's about to leave with a buttload of cash in a bag when the turtles drop and tell him to drop the bag. Now as I said before, he was hanging on a thread. And that was enough to snap it. So he does drop the bag, and also himself, because he passed out.
So the Villain ™️ just dropped dead when they arrived and they kinda go ??? Okay, what now. And then they look up and oh wow is that the people working in the bank staring at them. Of course people being people they start screaming and running, right as the police arrives, and they all fully panic. "DONNIE TAKE THE GUY AND LET'S GO" "wHY WOULD I TAKE THE GUY ????" "I DON'T KNOW MAYBE HE'S DEAD" "WHY WOULD I-" "JUST DO IT"
They snuck out. They were SUPPOSED to be allowed out, but like in 2012 Splinter said "no" and UNLIKE 2012, he didn't change his mind because of puppy eyes and they were like ):< well that's not fair
So they're on a roof, away from the mess, and they kind of stare at eachother for a second, realizing what happened and then they go :D !!!! YO THAT WAS INSAAAAANE (much like hyper realistic movie 1) And they get super excited, like IDIOTS, until still passed-out casey starts grunting and Donnie like hurrily puts him down saying "IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE, GUYS" They calm down, curiosity taking over, until raph asks "well the dead guy ain't. Now what" As great timing always is, Casey wakes up at that moment, surrounded by giant turtles, and naturally started screaming for his life. They panic and raph's knocks him out again "WHY would you do that ?!" "why wouldn't i" "So what do we do" "Let's take him to dad, he'll know what to do" "WE CAN'T DO THAT, HE'LL KNOW WE SNUCK OUT" "ooooooooh true" ... "So what do we do with him" "We could take him to april's" "Why" "She's a human, he's a human, I don't know"
So naturally, they take him to April's. Like the absolute goddamn morons they are. Of course since they don't know where she lives, Donnie calls her to get her adress. And so here they are, at her window, in the middle of the night, with a knocked out guy in a hockey mask on their shoulder. Naturally, april is like ????? And they're like shrug April is getting angrier ???? ):< So they try to justify themselves and messily explain. Once she gets a somehow coherent explanation they suggest they get the guy to a HOSPITAL, not her BEDROOM. Until she notices that the passed out guy is wearing the EXACT same bracelet she saw Casey wear, a bracelet made by his sis. Suddenly concern and she let them in and gets the hockey mask off
D:< CASEY ???? "? You know this dude ?" Cue explanation and :0
So Casey gets shaken awake by a very angry April that's immediatly asking him what the Fuck he was thinking. The turtles are ninja hiding behind the window, since they can't really just. Leave the guy there but also because he'd just freak out again. Casey is super confused but also angry at her own anger like hers wasn't justified because she couldn't understand. He explained everything to her and she was like "So what were you expecting ???? You'd just be able to spend the money ??? Out of nowhere, just like that ??? Jones you're so fucking stupid" And Casey is like ):< April explains in great detail how stupid it was and then suggested that if he REALLY wants to help but also respect his dad's wish for him to be a teen, to go looking for TEENS JOB. Mindblown, he hadn't thought of that. Once that was settled, the night's event started to sink in and he was like "Hey red would you say i'm crazy if u told you I saw something that was super duper weird ?"
april looking behind him to his window "Probably not"
April like roughly prepare him for what he's about to see and gestures for the guy to come inside, and then he turns around and- "PLEASE don't pass out again" The way it was said and the shock of what he was seeing made him burst out in laughters, mostly nervous laughing like "chuckles what the fuck" And that's how Casey met the turtles, and the turtles met the national news and a good scold from splinter
Also, unrelated but Shelldon AND Metalhead co-exists and were both created by Donnie
Ice cream kitty is there and it's literally a copy-paste of 2012 because she's perfect
ALSO ! There is NO ROMANCE IN THERE, because romance is a lie and isn't real. The only romance is the turtles and pizza. I hesitated with there's no romance BUT raph and mona and then i thought about alopex and i wzs like "hell nah i'm not choosing. No one is getting romance"
Mouser + dog = raph's pet
i would also like to precise that the bag you can see holds a sketchbook and a pencil and an eraser and literally 0 ninja stuff the ninja stuff is in another bag jgieorgerj also also, this mikey stands his ground a lot against raph so they just argue a lot more than in most versions hjfeoihjfeor (they still love eachother, still bro)
"being a ninja is really cool, I got all these cool moves and stuff... anyway want to see the painting i've been working on" it's like ninja is a hobby artist is his job
You know how I said Colorcoded!donnie loved to read both science and fantastical books ? like he doesn't like science-fiction because he's like every two pages "well that doesn't make any sense it couldn't work. if you try to make it realistic at least do some research" but fantastical genre ? that genre doesn't even care. Dragons ? sure, why the hell not, and elves too, and you know what ? boom. fairies. Donnie likes the complete unhinge style of it, and it really allows him a break from science, like these two can NOT cross. okay so, Shelldon is there in this version, but he's different first, he's non-verbal second his design is based on a dragon with a turtle shell it's like shell-dragon but shellgon sounds terrible so he put a d in there. of course you completely lose the aspect of shell-dragon, and he refuses to admit it because he's extremely stubborn, but his brothers tease him a lot about it so it's a tiny robot dragon with a shell on his back boom, shelldon also he can fly but not by using his wings traditionally. it's like he open the wings and he has propellers inside of them and boom like a drone, like rise!shelldon
So Leo is SUPER tactile with his family and loved ones (including casey and april there bfehifhze). Whenever he can he touches them, especially when talking to them. He does a lot of surprise hugs for no reason other than :)!!!! love!!!! Mikey loves it since he's also very love filled like the good boi he is UwU Donnie likes it EXCEPT when he gets an hug in his lab, where he gets angry Raph is... cool with it. Sometimes. When he's in a good mood. Casey is often caught by surprise and kinda panics before understanding what's going on and then he relaxes April usually hugs back unless she's upset then she just stands there Splinter always hugs back and encourages his behavior, because he thinks it's good for everyone Leo is tactile to show affection but doesn't say it much, if not ever. Mikey does both because the boi has a lot of love to give. He does hug a lot less tho fhierohieur Leo is still the leader, and is supposed to be responsible and keeps the others in order but herd mind does wonder and if they get the Silly™️ then he usually goes with them to do something stupid. (such as : let's sneak out and prove to dad that we can handle ourselves outside ! oh look, a robbery !) Except when they get the Silly™️ he still is pretty good at what he does, and in battle is pretty much 2012 Leo. However unlike 2012 Leo he sucks at strategizing, it's more Donnie's field. He's super into Japanese's culture, because he feels like it's his roots and he wants to respect that as much as possible (hence why his ouftit is the most classic), and he often talks to Splinter about it to get to learn more. He really hopes he'll be able to go to Japan one day, and eventually meet the rest of the Hamato clan. So about the tactile thing, imagine in an important discussion, he would touch the shoulder or get close to whoever he's talking to, without even thinking it they're all used to it although it still weirds out Casey since he hadn't been there for long but he also get used to it pretty quickly :) if he can't get to whoever he's talking to for whatever reason, he fidgets a bit instead Whenever a group hug is suggested by someone else (usually mikey or splinter) he gets really excited and rushes in :)
Leo is also extremely supportive of his brothers, and tries his best to pull them up. He listens to Donnie's ranting about science or fantastical books, even if he usually truly understands like half of it, sometimes he link 2+2 and goes "oh, like when you told me about [thing]" and donnie gets really happy and like :D!!!!! YEAH!!!!! Exactly !!! He oftens hang out in Mikey's room when his brother is painting, reading a book or playing on his phone, because Mikey likes to have commentary on his work as it progresses. If Raph comes to him to spar, he usually drops whatever he's doing and goes with him and they train for a bit. Of course Leo does not let him win UwU but it means that whenever Raph DOES win, he knows it's for real and he always gets a big boost of confidence
I can't believe I deadass forgot that but remember Mikey's embroidery on the bois' stuff ? Donnie was like "sure do the mask" Raph was also like "sure do the mask" and then like most of his mask got ripped off and there was no more place to embroidery there so mikey did the belt Leo was like "sure do the mask" so Mikey did the mask and assumed that was it and then leo went :) and gave him his belt and Mikey was like :D!!!!!!!
Raph is still angry boi but he is way more contained than in 2012, and if he feels rage and wants to blow up to his brothers, he brutally leaves the room and go play a video game to let out some steam. He uses training and night patrol to let his anger run free, while still being kinda controlled so he doesn't do anything stupid (at first it wasn't contained and mikey got hurt. he felt very guilty and didn't go to training or patrol for a while after that, staying with Splinter to try and control his anger better. once he felt like he was in control enough, he went back with his bros) Since he plays video games whenever he's angry, and he's angry very very often, he's REALLY good at it. any games in the lair ? played 'em, beat 'em, next. When he was smaller, he used to rage and break the game/console if he failed at any point in the game. He later realized that it wasn't super smart and it mostly just ruined any chances he had of doing better. So he got a punching ball in his room and everytime he rages he gets up and go hit that instead.
More often than not, when Leo does his surprise hug, Raph pushes him away. He likes to hang out in Donnie's lab while he's working, talking to him about stuff unless Donnie REALLY needs to focus and he gets kicked out. He loves to tease Mikey, and if he goes to far, he gets scolded by the latter anyway, so since he can stand his ground, he doesn't see a problem with it and keeps doing it. When the team gets down and desesperate, Raph is usually the one to get them back up and get the team running again. He's usually super tough and ):< Except when there's an animal (non-mutated) nearby, and then he gets    which his brothers never hesitate to tease him for. Jokingly, of course, since they don't want to shame his soft side into hiding. he's super nice and soft and gentle with animals, researching what they need to doing his best to take care of them, eventually scolding the others if they do it wrong.
because of that he always wanted a pet but Splinter always refused, saying it would be dangerous both for the animal and them. He got really angry when Mikey got Ice Cream Kitty and refused to talk to anyone for days. He couldn't stand to see Ice Cream Kitty, and was borderline hating her. Then one night when everyone was asleep and he went to get a glass of water, he got startled by her as he opened the fridge and broke his glass. He kept pestering at her and blaming her while cleaning up, angrily swipping. He did a wrong move and cut himself, swearing in the process. Ice Cream Kitty got close and he jerked back, mad at her. She waited until he relaxed, as if the role were reversed and he was a scared animal. Raph found her behavior weird so he got a little bit closer and as soon as she could she licked his wound. Suddenly Raph realized how unfair and jealous and stupid he had been acting and proceeded to spend the rest of the night in the kitchen playing with Ice cream Kitty to make up for his actions. In teh morning, his family found him asleep on the table, the fridge wide open and Ice Cream kitty cuddled up next to him.
With Donnie, he's the most stubborn out of all of them, and he's difficult to reason with. He doesn't like to be proven wrong and has difficulty accepting it.
Also unrelated but unless they're on missions, the turtles wear normal clothes
Okay so the story starts and it's pretty basic Shredder, with basic Karai and basic footclan Except that unlike most version, this foot clan is EXTREMELY similar to the hamato clan What I mean is that they have similar value and promotes mercy over murder. Including Shredder. He's still a huge bitch, like he wouldn't kill you but would chop your limbs off Like in this versions Splinter and Shredder are VERY similar, but they have different goals and that makes them ennemies Also Shredder is a GOOD DAD to Karai. She's literally the only person he's nice at Okay so that's the baseline Then one day, Karai gets kidnapped by Baxter Stockman (not with the foot yet). And he tortures her (mostly mentally, by getting into her head and showing her visions, much like what kitsune did to leo in idw) and also physically, by chopping her leg off and almost completely killing her. He attacked her because a few weeks prior she attacked one of his ship and released his prisonners (mutants they recruited and gave a home to. Like i said the foot clan are less assholes, more people) So Karai wakes up home, her dad by her side, without a left leg, and she's PISSED. Like REALLY PISSED. Shredder talks to her and manages to calm her down or so he thought. Karai is slowly consumed by revenge and ptsd, the experience being far more traumatic than what she said (mostly that he just chopped her leg off). She goes mad and as soon as they cross paths with Stockman again, she tries to kill him, in front of her dad and clan (and the turtle family hiding nearby). The foot and shredder tries to stop her but fail and she murders stockman Hence finishing making her mad, no going back anymore. She disappears before later murdering her father. As in, not sword through the heart but more like. She leaves a note on his desk asking to join her to a cliff near the sea to talk, and when they're done talking, she pushes him off and takes his helmet, becoming the head of the foot and turning it into the foot we know. She also gets in a full shredder costume and calls herself shredder too And that is Colorcoded!shredder
Original shredder doesn't go my shredder, he goes by Master Saki, because he's NOT technically Shredder. He doesn't shred, he's much closer to splinter KARAI goes by Master Shredder once she takes over
so, hmmm, do the bros ever fight? do some get along together better than others :o?
Mikey and Raph fight more than the others, because Raph often goes to far with the teasing, but they still would die for eachother :) Donnie and Raph get along great as long as Raph doesn't get angry™️ and Donnie doesn't go on a rant Leo and Raph are twins so they tend to fight for stuffs, but they have a strong bond and they often go to eachother if they need to talk about stuff (and not let Splinter know Leo and Mikey are disaster children. Don't leave them alone in the same room. Mikey activates Leo's "dumb braincells". However if Leo is with Mikey and at LEAST another person, he has big bro energy Leo and Donnie get along great and have tons of talks about everything and nothing. Leo just gets along with everyone Mikey and Donnie often fight about eachother's space and the need to get out. Donnie wants mikey out because well he has big 2012 mikey energy in the lab, and mikey wants donnie out because Donnie keeps doing the "that arm doesn't look proportionate" and that kind of comments As a group they tease Mikey more, and in a non-threatning situation, have 1 braincell
What kind of inventions does Donnie work on :D?
Okay so unlike most of the fucking donnies who are "scIeNtIsT" and suddenly they can do everything- Can you tell this pissed me off.-- it's like he's an "arRisTE" and bitch can play any instruments, paint, draw, sculpt, and all at like college levelthAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS FFS- So unlike most of the donnies, Colorcoded!Donnie is an Engineer, which means he can build stuff That's his FIELD.
If he has to do some bioscience he has to LEARN IT AND ASK FOR HELPbecause GUESS WHAT ?! HE CAN'T BE A GENIUS IN EVERY FIELD EVER THAT'S NOT A THING NO SIR
what kind of machines does he build then :D? any examples? Like Shelldon. Or metalhead Or the TURTLETANNNNNK
are they really super advanced and probably impossible irl like in Rise or more realistic like in 2012?
More realistic like 2012 Like he lives in the sewer BUT As soon as he gets his hand on Kraang tech ? Ohohohohohohohohoohoho
Donnie entering the room like in the first IDW christmas special :GUYS I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU leads them to Shelldon and ask him to fly Donnie : NOW WITHOUT PROPELLERS HE JUST F L O A TS
hmmm does Leo like science fiction tv shows and stuff like in 2012 and Rise?
Leo is very invested in Japanese's culture and tries to learn as much from it as possible, and that includes japanese tv shows. But he is. Somehow.
Leo and Donnie making theories over dinner. Mikey overhearing : ??? BUT THEY SAID SHE WAS HIS SISTER ?????? IN LIKE THIS ONE EP I WATCHED Leo : yeah but it changed Mikey : VHDGEJEVZ ????? NO
Leo: "yeah, after season 12, they got a new writer and a lot of stuff changed. Season 3 didn't happen, and they made it so it was all a dream in the story, they got into some big legal problems during the writing of season 13, so they had to change the whole story and five characters died because they didn't have the rights for them anymore." Donnie: "oh yeah, I'm really sad they had to cancel the murder mystery episode." Leo: "I know, right? I could have loved to watch it!" Mikey, watching from afar: "what are you guys even talking about-"
Mikey : I can accept that we're giant mutant turtles, I can accept that we're blood related to a rat, I can accepy that law of physics change from dimensions to another, but I CANNOT accept whatever the HELL "Tanako no Ichi" WAS MY COMIC MAKES MORE SENDE THAN YOUR SHOW AND I'M AT ISSUE 834
Leo and Donnie watching the show : :) Mikey in the background having a breakdown : they can't even write a single episode without an incoherence raph.... Raph, who really doesn't care : ah Splinter arriving : ohhhhh I loved this show as a kid Mikey : DAD NOOOOOO NOT YOU TOO
Leo arriving in his workshop : :) mikey Mikey, foolishly having his guard down : yea ? Leo : :) I convinced Splinter you could throw a party here tomorrow Mikey, foolishly thrilled : OOOH REALLY ???? THANKS LEO BEST BRO Leo : :) he had a condition Mikey : ah ? Leo : tonight we watch the integrality of season one of Tanako no Ichi Mikey face reflects horror and fear Mikey : I'd rather not party Leo : There would be pizza mikey :) Mikey : h- Leo : You would have a pizza party with your friends in the lair mikey
Mikey: "wait, I thought the character were in Japan right now?" Donnie: "They went to America like, a whole two minutes ago, they implied it by transitioning with a origami paper plane with a map of America in the background, weren't you paying attention?" Leo: "yeah, duh." Mikey: "I'm sorry HOW THE FUCK-"
Tanako no ichi = Location of the Shopkeeper
Imagine the show has been going for years, so long that like, you said, Splinter used to watch it and when Leo and Donnie need info about old lore they just ask him xDDD
you know when some anime are names with names that has literally NO RELATION to the story at all, or the name referneces something completely insignificant to the story or the meaning got lost after hundreds of episodes efvghddf
Mikey: "THERE IS LITERALLY NOT SHOPKEEPER IN THE STORY WHAT THE HECK"
Imagine, Leo or Donnie stepping in his workshop like : "Can you make like a poster of Tanako no Ichi ? :D" And mikey like owl snapping his neck "brother I will kill you"
Mikey, watching Tanako no Ichi with his bros: "oh my god I need a break" Leo: "but we've only watched three seasons :)!! We still have 23 to go!!" Mikey, already out of the room: "no."
Leo : MIKEY REMEMBER THE PARTY Mikey : I CAN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING YOUR SHOW BRAINWASHED ME
Donnie: "you always want to us to have more family time :)" Mikey: "this isn't family time it's torture"
Splinter : Come on my son, one more episode, even Raphael is with us Raph : Honestly Mikey it's a show about people getting dresses while floating in space i don't know what the problem is mikey : BECAUSE THIS IS SET UP AND EXPLAINED-
Mikey, alone in his pain about Tanako no ichi : ;-; April coming along to watch it : wait this makes no sense Mikey, grabbing her shoulders : MARRY ME
Also Casey actually really enjoying it
you know how you drew Mikey's kneepads and elbow pads to looks like he and his bros faces x)? how did they react when they noticed it xD? Raph: "why is mine and angry face >:(?"
Leo was confused at first but really happy when he understood it was "ninja eyes" Donnie was like  <3   bro,,,, Raph was also like     <3 And Splinter was like : ))))): w What about What about me ))):
He said if one of his pads would broke he'd replace it with splinter's face
He has a shit ton of stickers on his back and front shell and a lot represent his family, including splinter I need to draw the back shell of the boisvehzvs There's 3 types of stickers on mikey's shell : -He drew his family -He drew other than his family (usually food) -He found some Good Shape ™️ stickers
also question!! (for whenever you can answer zecfsd) What are the bros' eye colors :o?
They all have the same eye color : black or really really dark brown (for highlightvahdvjzvd
also does Leo have only one sword or two dgcdfdf
I wanted to give him 2 but tbh i feel like 1 is enough for this Leo UnU
they still treat mikey as if he’s the youngest bfeuzggeruihreu$ Donnie does get teased more, and by mikey as well, unlike other versions where it was mostly raph and a bit of leo :)
RAPH'S MOUSER'S NAME IS BUCKLE
Donnie, chuckling : You should teach him how to do tricks Raph, suspicious : ...why ? Donnie : Because you could tell him "Buckle up" highfive of Leo, Mikey and Donnie while raph groans
also i keep having brainrot of some random scenes between them, including : Casey meeting Buckle for he first time and it's like that meme "AHHGBSHGSGH GET YOUR DOG DUDE AAAAH" "It dun bite" "YES IT DO"
Leo and Mikey alone in the kitchen (a mistake in itself) and Mikey goes "dude what if we taught the pet how to jump over a circle of fire" and leo is like "Mikey...." in a grave voice like he's about to scold him and then "THAT'S A GREAT IDEA LET'S DO IT" Cue Donnie and Raph finding them in a mess of a kitchen with Ice Cream Kitty, Buckle and Shelldon and half of everything is on fire including them Donnie, running to his boi : "SHELLDON D:!!!!" Raph, also : "BUCKLE !!!" Mikey : "ICE CREAM KITTY D:- wait i was a part of this lol nevermind"
Leo, regaining his braincells as soon as his other bros arrive: "in hindsight, this may not have been the best idea" Raph and Donnie: "YA THINK???"
Donnie: "It seems like Mikey's presence somehow alters Leo's ability to think rationally. I have no idea how. This is a mystery science can't solve."
Leo and Mikey on patrol together Mikey having sudden impulse : we should jump off the roof Leo : yes the t-phone rings and he picks up Donnie and Raph in the phone: hi yes hello we realized we left you two alone so we're doing this until we can find you Leo, still on the phone : mikey i decided to not jump off the roof and neither should you
imagine Raph or Donnie, (or both) are so used to Leo and Mikey being absolute disasters when alone that at some point they just. know when they're about to do something stupid dvhfhdf
Leo: "You know, I think you may be a bad influence on me." Mikey: "what makes you think that?" Leo, doing a handstand on the edge of a roof for a bet: "Just a feeling."
Splinter getting vibes that something is going on while meditating: "my sons are being idiots again"
Splinter: "Donatello, Raphael, where are your brothers?" Donnie: "They were here a second ago sensei-" [they hear a crash from another room] Donnie: "aw shi-" Splinter: "Language."
Splinter as soon as Raph and Donnie leave the room, under his breath : "ah shit…"
Mikey: "I bet ya I can fit 10 marshmallows in my mouth" Donnie: "you're a hazard to society." Leo: "AND A COWARD, DO TWENTY!"
Mikey proceeds to get 20 marshmallows in his mouth Raph watching : I bet I can do 30 Donnie : you can't it would break your jaw Raph already shoving marshmallows in his mouth : prove me wrong Donnie getting marshamallows too : oh yeah ???? Leo : I bet I can do more than 30 Donnie : OH YEAH ???
Splinter, watching them form afar, sighing: "I'll prepare the first-aid kit in case this goes wrong.…"
Casey and April coming by to visit Casey, slamming the table : I CAN DO 50
Mikey: "I WON!" Raph: "Mike, you almost chocked to death." Mikey: "Sounds like someone's a sore looser"
Donnie, the youngest sibling, somehow usually the rational one
Huge jaw dog running to you : :D!!! Casey : HIGH PITCHED SCREAMING
Casey Jones fears one thing : Buckle
Casey Jones in front of Kraang : wicked Casey jones in front of the foot : meh Casey Jones in front of Unhinged Karai : dang Casey Jones in front of Buckle : NO. NONONONONO GET AWAY AAAAAAH
Does it bite tho dghfdf
She does not
Mousers have sharp teef :), would Buckle bite off furniture and stuff ?
Ah Furniture yes People, unless they're threatning, no
Casey Jones: no fear Buckle: :) Casey Jones: one fear
Casey the first time he meets Buckle, freaking out and taking out one of his hockey stick Buckle, regestering : yes, ennemy
Buckle as soon as Raph grabs her and told her no : yes, friend
Casey, traumatized : ENNEMY
Literally the entire turtle family : pubby,,,, :)))) Casey, pointlessly gesturing yo buckle : MONSTER !!!!
"THIS THING'S A DEMON" "A DEMON WITH SHARP TEETH" Raph: "And cute lil paws :)" Casey: "AND CUTE LIL PAWS"
Mikey : "Case, it's a Mouser fused with a puppy. It's LITERALLY a puppy" Casey : "but evil" Leo : "Casey it's been MONTHS. When are you going to warm up to her" Casey : "n e ve r"
He's too stubborn now it's a challenge Oh god Teens shenanigans
Mission : get Casey to like Buckle
does Buckle like Casey by this point tho dsgvf?
Oh as soon as Raph went " this is is friend " she went "friend :)"
Everytime he gets to the lair or she sees him he gets a hug like everyone else However HE tries to avoid it by any means possible, everytime
Casey, holding on to dear life to one of the ceiling's pipes : "GET THAT DEMON AWAY FROM ME" April : "She's just saying hello" Casey : "WELL SHE HAVE A MOUTH, DOESN'T SHE ????"
who would win: Casey's inability to admit he may be scared of a tiny dog or Casey's stubbornness of not wanting to befriend the dog because everyone wants him to
these concepts can and should coexist
Everyone went off to sleep after a sleepover and he's the only one left, watching the end of the episode (hehehe ohooho imagine of tanako no ichi to piss mikey off) Suddenly Buckle arrives like :))) And he tenses up but also wants to see the end of the ep so they kinda just dance around, Casey trying to avoid Buckle and Buckle just wanting a hug Suddenly Buckle jumps on the couch and rest her head on his lap and he's like   Then she goes wap wap with her tail and he goes :0 and hesitates but land his hand on her head before pulling it away immediatly but she doesn't react so he does it again and pets her and end up relaxing and watch the end of the ep Of course the next day this never happened and he denies everything but he's less scared Still scared when she rushes to him at like 30 km/h
Hot take : Casey is Buckle's 2nd favourite person ever for no reason 1st one being Raph
Casey: "I'm pretty sure Buckle is like those cats that look at you from a distance and are plotting to kill you and conquer the world, Buckle is an evil mastermind and should not be trusted." Raph: "wh-"
Meanwhile buckle on her back getting scratches from mikey and leo
Raph, pointing at Buckle: "look at that adorable face, how can you not like her?" Casey, narrowing his eyes at Buckle: "She is probably plotting revenge for all the times I did not pet her when she wanted me to." Raph: "Now that's just sad"
Mikey talking to Casey with a huge board behind him : "see now this is the percentage of happiness you have right now. And THIS is the percentage of happiness if you became friend with Buckle"
Mikey: "Pros and cons of being friends with Buckle. Cons: none. Pros: oh boi let me get my list-" Casey, already walking away: "please don't"
Mikey, holding Buckle to Casey's face: "PET THE DOG, CASEY!!" Casey, running away: "OVER MY DEAD BODY" Buckle, in Mikey's arms, living her best life: :D
Leo going to Splinter : Dad I don't get it ! He just WON'T befriend Buckle ): Splinter : Leo you must understand everyone feels differently and you have to accept that Buckle walks in and does smth cute Splinter : However Casey is dead wrong but his loss
I feel like Mikey would try to be subtle but fail (like making a literal powerpoint presentation like you said xDD)
Mikey : "Slide 1 of 234" Casey, leaving : "no" Mikey : "Caseyyyy I spent the night on this ):" Leo, Supportive Brother ™️ : "I want to know :)"
Donnie: "I saw him work on it, most of the slides are pictures of Buckle"
Mikey: "SHHHH no spoilers" Donnie: "Mike, I don't think spoilers apply to powerpoint presentations"
hmmm, do they celebrate their birthday/mutation day :D?
Okay so they got mutated pretty much like in 2012, except that their "age" is determined by who mutated first. So Leo and Raph mutated almost exactly at the same time, Mikey second and Donnie was last Because of that, THEY INSISTED that thry do their Mutation day on 3 different days, but these days all follow eachothers. So it's like 3 days of birthday parties. Splinter had to cave in because he was weak to the puppy eyes and the lack of actual problem with their demand.
Mikey: "we need 4 birthday cakes" Splinter: "Michelangelo no"
"But wouldn't it be easier to do it the same day ?" "But Dad, we're not the same age )):" "Okay then at different times that day ? You were technically born there." "Okay Papa, but then we get 3 different cakes :)" "4" "shut up raph he will never agree to 4" "In the same day ??? Hh- what about we switch every year"
They don't they do 3 birthday parties that all follow eachothers on different days
imagine one of them having the WORST taste in cakes and everyone else hates it dhvdvhjdf
Mikey "ahhh finally my favourite cake : pepperoni and gummy bear :)"
ohhh question!! Is Mikey a good cook?
No Mikey still sucks, however I'm stealing the 2012 Casey's headcanon from the Capritello fanfic, and Casey is a great cook for the same exact reasons
I imagine Mikey would be interested in cooking lessons from Casey tho. Interested and pushed there, heavily, by his family, including Splinter
Donnie: "Come on Mikey, I'm sure you have some things to learn from Casey :)!" Raph: "cough a lot cough" Donnie: "Raph shut up I'm trying to save our lives from future food poisoning here"
Mikey : "food poisoning )))): ?" Leo : "He meant food humm... Death. Because we would have eaten too much. Because it's. Too good."
So in Colorcoded, Leo is a bad liar
Villain : "Where are you brothers ?" Leo : "Well uh... I can tell you ! Where they are not ! Which is above you head on that piece of metal right here. They are not there. No don't look I just said they're NOT there. STOP LOOKING"
Raph: "Leo, did you eat the last slice of pizza?" Leo, sweating and avoiding eye contact: "noooooooo.....?????" Raph: "Alright, you did."
Raph: "Leo, did Mikey eat the last slice of pizza while I was out?" Mikey, next to him: fear Leo: ".... noooooo, not at all, didn't see anything! Who's Mikey? hahHAha" Raph: "....." Mikey: "GODDAMIT LEO-"
If Leo can't lie that would logically mean he also can't act for shit fdvhfbhf Donnie: "Okay Leo, this is a very important undercover mission, we'll just pretend to be travelers passing through to infiltrate the city. Whatever you do, just let us do the talking okay?" Leo: "Sure." ... Leo, immediately: "why hello there uhh, people, we a just humble travelers and totally not undercover as maybe some paranoid people may suspect haha, these clothes are totally not hiding any ninja weapons of any sorts-" Donnie, Raph and Mikey: "Leo for the love of god please shut up-"
Donnie looking dead into his brother's eyes : "Leo I love you but if I have to take you to another undercover mission i'll literally die"
Splinter: "Years of deception lessons cannot fix this."
Imagine them playing the kind of game where you have to lie
Donnie, waving to April and Casey: "Hey guys, we're about to play Cheat (Menteur, the card game) Come join us! Leo is playing too, it's gonna be fun." April: "Why? Is Leo good at this game?" Donnie "HAHAHA NO."
Imagine they're making a surprise for Splinter or something and they don't want Leo to spoil the surprise by accidentally revealing it so they basically tell him to just avoid talking to Splinter as much as possible dbhbf Splinter: "why is my son ignoring me :("
Splinter can tell when they're all collectively lying juts because of Leo efdvhfvf
Splinter in the kitchen, enjoying tea : :) Leo arriving, seeing Splinter and backtracking immediatly Splinter : ):
Splinter: "Leonardo, are you hiding something from me?" Leo: "OH WOULD YOU LOOK AT THE TIME IT'S TIME TO UUHHH, SLEEP? I SHOULD GO" Splinter: "It's three in the afternoon" Leo: "HHHHH"
Leo panicking, laying on the ground and pretending to sleep
Donnie: "Why is Leo laying on the floor" Mikey: "It's floor nap time? hell yeah!" joins him Donnie: "Mikey what-"
Raph arriving, looking at them then at donnie. Donnie shrugs. Raph proceeds to also lay down
Buckle joins them dvgf
Splinter comes back later to see them all asleep in a pile on the floor: "I'm so confused right now but also aw"
Shelldon too so Mikey gets up and go get Ice Cream Kitty and smth cold to keep her cold
casey and april arriving and seeing the nap pile
they take lot of pictures because of course they do zgdvf and Splinter goes "May I have one of those printed :)? I need more non-chaotic pictures of my sons."
imagine all the pictures he has of them are all just pure chaos dfghdf
blurry messes in parts or someone blinks or on of them moved etc fdvdfhdf
what would be the ONE moment where Leo would finally manage to decently lie dvghdf
If someone of the family is in danger, but like really really bad danger like they will be instant killed if i don't lie
i think it's the intense pressure that would make him lie good and when i mean lie good i mean like good enough he's not suddenly the god of lies, just he lies good enough to save whatever family member something super simple ! like "where is the gem of chiubilo" "in the warehouse of the left street" that's it boom
Cue his family being super proud of him after the danger is over :)
and then the next time he needs to lie they're like :))) he's gonna do great !!! and he's worse than before
Colorcoded raph loves gossip
and everytime there is he’s like:) hell yeah tell me more
I find the idea hilarious that Mikey is unironically attractive and every person their age they meet get a crush on him and every time he's like N o Not again.... Because Colorcoded Mikey is aroace
And also the one time they meet a teen and he goes " BEFORE ANYTHING, PLEASE DON'T LIKE ME, I'M AROACE" And the person is like "...wow what an ego dude. I'm a lesbian" And then the EMBARASSMENT and he never said anything ever again
I imagine Mikey just. Pausing. Turning bright red and slowly turning away to hide somewhere and die of shame
Mikey: "Is it me?? Am I too handsome?? Is it my personality?? Why do people keep having crushes on me??" Leo, awkwardly patting his shell: "There, there. You will meet someone who will just want to be friends one day."
Mikey, meeting someone new: "how old are you?" That person: "24" Mikey: "I'm too young for you. Good." That person: "?????" Donnie, Leo and Raph: XD
He's horrible at turning people down because he feels bad and doesn't want to hurt the person's feelings
Karai: "the turtles are my arch enemies, but that orange one's cute" Mikey: "PLEASE NO"
More content : when Splinter assigned Leo as the leader, Donnie went up to ask him why since HE was the most responsible And Splinter ended training so he could talk from father to son and not sensei to student and went "Let's not lie to ourselves, Donatello, you're the youngest and they would never listen to you" and he was right
Also more content about Attractive Mikey ™️, April doesn't count because she's their childhood friends and when Casey arrived Mikey showed up and slammed his hands on the table and went "Casey this is very important are you gay" Casey : confused closeted bi chewing
casey is a very dear friend and he just doesn't want to have the moment where he turns him down thankfully it won't happen because i said so
Mikey: "If I have to turn someone down one more time I swear I'll just throw a fake wedding pretend to everyone I'm married"
"Mikey, you're too young to be married" Mikey: "WHAT ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THEN?"
Raph, here for the drama : "Well seeing your age, you could say you're dating someone"
"oh, that's smart actually. But also ew no »
Donnie : "So you're okay with throwing an ENTIRE fake wedding, but not pretending to date an imaginary person ?"
Leo: "You just want to have a big party don't you" Mikey: "maybe"
Mikey: "I could make a pizza wedding cake" Raph: "a what"
The colorcoded!mutanimals are VERY different There's Dawston, the equivalent of Mondo Gecko, who's the only born mutant known to this world, and then forced to do bad biding for Stockman of TCRI There's Lilajé, a very tall bat mutant, who was originally human, and a mad scientist wanted to see if prior conditions would influence the mutation. So he ripped her eyes out and then mutated her. There's Rembrandt, a guinea pig mutant, who was, well, a guinea pig with a shit ton of horrible things done to him, until they wanted to test mutagene on him. There's Vincent, a french cat mutant, pretty much the equivalent of Hob but more optimistic and less violent, who was a street cat, beaten up by humans and shit, until one of them tried testing mutagene on him. Then there's the extremely self-indulgent character named Sara Navidad, a human, who had been going against Stockman's plans, actively, and was kidnapped like Karai, except she lost ALL her limbs, and he tested some weird substance on her that pretty much made her immortal (it's worse than it looks), and also mentally tortured her by murdering kids mutants in front of her. Following that, Sara escaped but abandonned her old life behind because holy shit there's no way she can go back to a normal life after that and created the mutanimals by finding Dawston, and the others over time
I should precise that they come from all over the world Also Sara's father's name is Felix because Felix Navidad
So as you can guess ALL OF THEM are REALLY mad at humans, and their main mission is finding humans that torture mutants and kill them. They're always careful to only kill the HEAD of the snake, and never the goons of the evil, because like Lilajé and Sara regularly remind them, they're just people trying to survive, whether the guy that uses them is just a huge asshole and a monster. The Turtle family disagrees with their actions but doesn't actively try to stop them. They're still pals, but they just avoid talking work
Dawston was born in a lab, fusion of human and lizard, and technically the first ever born mutant. He was used for 25 years by Stockman to kill and murder, so that it would serve his purpose and ALSO ruins people's view of mutants so he could keep capturing them, dissecting them and tossing them aside. Since Dawston had always been in that environment, he never thought anyone could take it down, and he never tried because he never had any hope. Meanwhile, Sara just murdered Stockman and left her family behind, and was well, depressed as fuck. She kept trying to kill herself but failed again and again no matter the method because of what Stockman put in her (now pitch black) blood. Since she couldn't die, she searched for people like her, that were feeling what she was feeling, so she would feel less alone. And she stumbled upon Dawston while he was on one of his missions. She tried to talk but he got spooked and fled back to TCRI, effectively telling Sara that he was in a really bad place and he needed help. So she pulled herself together and used her skills to get into TCRI and start causing mayhem looking for the mutant lizard dude. Hearing someone ACTIVELY going against TCRI, and eventually winning, Dawston got the boost he needed and attacked the people in the room with him, and killed his abusers. When Sara got to him he was crying in the middle of a pool of blood, not his of course, with dead bodies all over. She reached out and he flinched, but eventually took her hand and they went back to her crappy place, in an abandonned building that she called home. Dawston was very warry of her at first, because she looked human, but she healed him and helped him get physically better, and he started trusting her, but just a bit. He finally allowed himself to talk, and so they talked. And suddenly they weren't as alone as they thought.
Next, Lilajé. She's a Philippine (because that's where they found human sized bat beuihgfezfze), and has a rocky relationship with her family. She's 32, and still lives with her mother, that doesn't pay attention to her at all and never had, and her brother, who cares, but have difficulty showing it. Lilajé (not her OG name, but she refuses to share her human name) had given up on her dream brutally at 20 after a really bad experience, and has since fallen into drug addiction. That's looking for money to buy those that she voluntered for a "scientific experiment" and got into the hand of a mad scientist. He had heard of mutagene and wanted to experience on it, and especially what factors defined what animal you turn into. So, to test one of his theory, he ripped Lilajé's eyes out and locked her up before immediatly pouring mutagene on her. Her wounds hadn't healed, and you can guess the entire experience was 10 times more painful than usual. She turned into a giant bat, blind of the two eyes and unable to control her body or new abilities. Satisfied, unaware that Lilajé had touched a bat prior of entering the lab, and thinking the condition of the being influences the mutation, the mad scientist discarded Lilajé and basically threw her out in a bin. She couldn't see, and hearing was painful, so Lilajé was terrified, alone, and completely exposed. Thankfully, Dawston and Sara found her there, while they were investigating this extremely suspicious lab. Lilajé was scared, but they were able to guide her to a plane that they took back to New York. It was an horrible experience for Lilajé, all the sounds, unable to know who was with her, why, what was happening. As soon as they got back to New York, Sara gave her her own room in the abandonned building and left her there to calm down. She of course explained why beforehand. Once Lilajé felt better in the silence and the darkness, she got out (with difficulty) and asked for explanations. Dawston and Sara explained their stories, and how they had heard of this awfully suspicious Philippine's lab, and finding her confirmed their fear, so they destroyed it, killing the head of the snake and leaving the goons alone. Lilajé was thankful, but still shaken, and went back in her room (with dawston's help), to process and get used to her new body. A few days later, she got out again to try and get to know those who saved her, and she realized they were both miserable, like a snuffed out candle. Their voices were flat and empty, and everything they said felt grey. (Around that time she realized she could "see" sounds, like splashes of colors and shapes.) Lilajé felt like she needed to help them like they helped her, as a thank you. So, she spent more and more time with them, acting more and more lively and happy as time went on. It surprised Dawston and Sara but they felt kind of pulled into that happiness, and they unknowingly started to feel better, to smile and laugh more, and they truly all started bonding. One day, Lilajé decided she wanted to try her new wings, feeling like she was used to her body enough (she failed a couple of times of course, before getting the hang of it) but as soon as she got it, she invited Dawston and Sara on her back and they all flew, the adrenaline of the flight sealing all of their bonds and truly being the point where they would get better, together.
Next, Rembrandt. When he was a tiny guinea pig, still a baby, there were 6 other guinea pigs with him, in his cage. They were all like brothers and sisters, being tortured by the humans, but still having eachothers at the end of the day. As he grew up, 3 died. Experiments gone wrong, escape that was violently stopped... Only 4 guinea pigs left, as they grieved the loss of their siblings. Then, 3 more died, and it was by Rembrandt's own paws. The scientists injected him with a substance that made him violent and blindly raged, and he killed them himself. Leaving, of course, extreme trauma. Not that the humans cared, since he was just a guinea pig. As the humans celebrated the success of their experiment, Rembrandt was sitting in his tiny cage, splattered with the blood of his brothers and sisters, their tiny bodies displayed like a gory exposition. If it weren't for one of the scientist's sensible nose, they would have left the bodies to rot in the cage. Of course, the experiments on him continued, scarring him, but never dulling down his boiling anger. Then, they one day got their hands on mutagene. They didn't know what it was, they had to test it out. So they poured it on Rembrandt. He burst out of his cage, 7 feet tall monster with gigantic teeth, biting them in half, preventing them from escaping, killing them to the last. He broke the walls and got outside, breathing fresh air for the first time, drooling blood. He ran in the city, terrifying any human he met, eventually trying to kill them too if they were too close to him. Sadly, the company that made him captured him back and put him in a solid cage, to study him more. However the wreckage in the city didn't get pass Dawston, Sara and Lilajé, and they went to investigate. They quickly understand what's going on and storm the scientists' hideout
As they do so, one of them accidentally cuts off the power, and it opens Rembrandt's cage, who doesn't even hesitate to burst out and start slayin'. When he gets to the main hall and sees a human fighting next to mutants, he doesn't understand and rushes towards Sara to kill her. Thankfully she survives since well she can't fucken die (did i mention that no one knows she's immortal ? she doesn't want to tell people because then she would have to explain the recurring splattering of black matter then and there, from her suicide attempts and she just doesn't want to deal with that) and they successfully calm Rembrandt down and he starts fighting by their side. However, he doesn't mind murdering goons, despite Sara telling him not to, because why would he listen to a human. They finally all get out and they lead him to the abandonned building. He warns that he'll only stay long enough to heal and then leave again. He says it's because of Sara's presence, but actually it's because he's terrified of the idea of murdering people he loves again. So he refuses to get close. Despite that, he's forced to stay for a while because of his wounds, and he stays as distant as he can. Lilajé and Dawston still tell him what got them there, and that they're all helping eachother and it would be good for him too to open up. He refuses, and especially doesn't want to interact with Sara. Knowing that what makes her so dislikable in his eyes is that he thinks she's human, she decides it's time to face her fears, for his sake. She goes to see him, even if he refuses to, and explains to him her immortality, her suicide attempts and shows him her blood. She explains she's not human, not anymore, she's more like a walking breathing corpse. She demands that he doesn't tell the others, begging for him not to do so, entrusting him with her biggest secret. It changes his visions of things, and in the end, he accepts to stay and bond with them.
Last but not least, Vincent. He was birthed in the street, and was the only kitten of his litter to survive. His mother did his best to protect him but was killed by some motherfuckers that likes to hit and kill stray cats for fun. He fled and survived, but a kitten alone wouldn't survive long. So he joined a pack of stray cats that lived together to survive, and grew up amongst them. He's a fast learner and a sly kitty, so he survives well with his pack. They're not very chummy with eachothers because cats are loner, but they HAVE to stay together in order to not-die. They often scare off the motherfuckers, and it's kind of a war because well, motherfuckers being motherfuckers, they don't like feeling "weak". So one night they come back with this canister of "probably poison" and decide to dump it on Vincent despite the hissing of the group. The cats stand back, in order to not get splattered and observe as Vincent is turned into a giant cat and slayed the motherfuckers in half with his claws. He's disoriented and doesn't know what to do, so he turns to his pack but they hiss at him and disappear into the night. So Vincent is all alone, with 3 corpses of humans, in the dark, confused and newly mutated. He does realizes quickly he has to get out of there and find refuge on the rooftops. He hides there for a while, trying to understand how to use this body, until he gets hunted down by the police and some other anti-mutants folks. He's scared and angry, but doesn't attack because unlike Rembrandt he has a Brain™️ and he uses it. So he flees, and go from rooftops to rooftops, trying to survive and hide. Since he moves around a lot, he absorbs knowledge he sees like a sponge, since he always was a fast learner. He's the guy that can Do Things. What exactly ? who knows. But he can do things. At some point during this wild goose chase, Vincent realizes there's nothing left for him in France, and he needs to leave. He finds out that New York has been recently having news report of murders of people actively against mutants, so he decides it's probably the best place he can find to survive and takes a plane to it. Arriving in New York, well that's great. Now he's in a brand new city, but it's the same problem. He can't walk amongst humans, and he still has nowhere to go. Back to the roofs it is. After several night starting to question his decision, he's alerted by some noises down a street and goes to check it out. He's surprised to see a group of mutants with a human fighting. Things. Brainy things. As I said before, Vincent has Brain™️ And by using it, he doesn't see WHY he should jump headfirst in a fight that doesn't concern him, so he does not. He's about to turn around and leave when suddenly he gets hit by one of the blaster a brainy thing is waving and he falls down. luckily he's catched and put down by Rembrandt but the hit and the fear of the fall made him lose consciouness. Once the fight is over and they bring him back to the ol' hideout (still an abandonned building from the outside but now the inside looks very nice), they proceed to heal him up and let him rest. When Vincent wakes up, he freaks out and panics, attacking the others, trying to get out. They open the door and he jumps out and disappears into the night. They kinda shrug it off and return to normal life. Meanwhile Vincent calms down on a roof and realizes his arm was bandaged and he wasn't harmed at all. He review his reaction and realizes he might have been a bit jumpy. Guilty, and also because well that's the first ever positive interaction he ever had with other mutants, he decides to go back and apologize. When he gets there he realizes they're being attacked by not brainy things, and they have difficulty defending themselves. Now, this fight concerns him. Because these people helped him, and he was boutta help back. He jumps headfirst into it this time and turns the fight to their favor. Once it's done, he profusely apologize for his behavior with a broken english and they reassure him and invite him in After some time of all of them living together and murdering people, they encounter the turtles, and are promptly named "the mighty mutanimals" by Mikey. Sara however refuses the name since she's TECHNICALLY not a mutant (no one except Rembrandt knows about her condition still) and takes on the name given by the media of AOD, or the Angel of Death
using Sara's family supplies, and also maybe by learning with Donnie a lot, and using his own knowledge and learning some stuffs, Vincent makes some "vision brooch" for Lilajé, that still misses her vision. She doesn't wear them when they're out fighting, but inside the house she prefers to, since she doesn't have to SCREAM to not bump into things.
is there a sort of leader of the group then?
yep, it's pretty much Sara although she doesn't want to
but they listen to her, and they say she started all this so
what do the others think about her? Rembrandt is the only one who knows she's technically a mutant, but the others don't :0
well she's not TECHNICALLY a mutant. Just a walking human corpse they think she's neat and needs therapy
"i love the turtles, they're my buddies, but I need a "survive" ouftit because they're just a danger magnet"
April: "I know you guys have your shells but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WEAR SOME ARMOR EVERYWHERE ELSE PLEASE"
"THOSE KNEEPADS AREN'T GONNA PROTECT YOU IF YOU GET STABBED"
April has the one braincell Splinter adopted her "you have braincells. I like that"
First battle of the turtles, they're very excited, Casey too, and April is behind, in a HUGE ouftit that's covering everything like "Yeaaaa... woohooooo... pain and wounds, so excited..." And leo be like : "You know April you can stay behind-" April : "I would NEVER abandon you guys" ):< Later in the battle with the normal fighting ouftit on, she shows up and goes "I WILL HELP YOU WITH THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP..." pulls out smth from her vest "AND THIS REALLY COOL GUN"
"Mister splinter, I have found my place in the team :)" "Oh ? and what is it ?" "gun"
"being careful is nice and all but BEING IRRESPONSIBLY RECKLESS IS BETTER" -April, probably
it's like, shooting you from afar will knock you out and shooting you from upclose COULD technically kill you if i shoot at the wrong place but at the right one i'll just explode your bones
non-lethal but still dangerous depending on how it's used
does she have any ninja training? :D
She does not ! Splinter did try at some point when they were younger but I don't have many Feminine ™️ characters so i'm trying to make her Feminine ™️ so she looked at the training once and went "fuck no" and chose gun
did Donnie build the gun?
it's either donnie build the gun or she just found a fucked up gun and went "hohohohohohoho ye S"
He finds a gun and goes "i'm gonna mess with this so bad now" and then proceeds to almost die 3 times
they found 2 different guns and bumped into eachother and went :D! cool ! a gun !
Raph: "Guns take out all the point out of being a ninja, you should just throw that thing away" Donnie: "You won't be talking once I make THE COOLEST GUN EVER" All his bros: "Donnie no" Donnie: "Can I at least go semi-lethal"
April and casey becoming friends because they're both unhinged
The gun’s name is Cassandra
April: "I'm gonna grab Casey and then we can go" Leo: "Casey the gun or Casey Jones" April, cocks gun: "The gun of course :)"
April: "Hey I named my gun after you" Casey: "weird flex but ok"
April showing her gun : Here is Casey the gun :D April gesturing towards Casey : And here is Casey the Jones :D
i had in mind that Casey was just taking a nap in the lair and you know how in cartoons the friends just comes up and draw on their faces ? It's Mikey's equivalent. He just took his jacket and gear and customized it. Casey was furious when he woke up because it's supposed to be THREATNING. The HEARTSHAPPED STICKER KITTEN is NOT helping. Mikey was like )))): Puppy eyes And Casey sighed, bad boyified the stickers and asked him to only leave the hardcore embroideries and get rid of the rest. Mikey did not get rid of the rest, he just sewed it inside instead
Mikey: "the puppies and hearts on your jacket doesn't define you, you can still be threatening :)" Casey: "please don't turn this into a lesson about self-confidence"
Casey told her sister about the turtles and his friends by showing her the embroideries. She asks if she can meets them and he's like "they can speak Korean ):" And she's like "well. you can speak both." and Casey is like ":0" Casey's sister is Hye-Jin (혜진) (pronounced Hyeh-Jeen) which means rare and precious
Casey's Korean name (non-official, not on papers) is Deok-Su (덕수) (pronounced deog-su) which means to guard
Okay so for the story, Casey's dad is korean and his mom is american. Beforehand, know that his mom is a ginormous bitch. So when they had Casey, she HEAVILY insisted he take HER name and that they chose a NORMAL name. Big red flags, but Casey's dad was in love so he said yes. However when they had Hye-Jin, his dad didn't flinch, and her official name is Korean (even if her last name is still Jones, much to her dad's disappointment) As soon as it was official, their mom had a tantrum, refusing to take care of a "foreigner" and that her daughter would never have "such an ugly name". She demanded divorce and to never have to see her daughter again. She still wanted to see Casey because he was "normal" but everyone, including the court said "fuck you that's not happening" Casey's dad is Jong-Min  종민 (filled with kindness, filled with wisdom) and last name Ra (good or Virtuous) So Casey's family is Jong-Min Ra, Hye-Jin Jones and Casey Jones
