Dear god why ok now i just had a weird mha dream with stain AGAIN. Like after some time i moved from mha fandom to dabble in other fandoms and then NOW MY BRAIN REMINDS ME OF MY FUCKING CRUSH ON THIS NOSELESS MAN after like how many months since that other vigilante dream with stain wtf hnnnngh pls brain stop doing to me

Ok but the dream was kinda interesting cus it was like an mha au of sorts. In the dream, I was of course a vigilante, and I didn’t display any visible evidence of quirk usage so i might have been quirkless? Was just hopping around the worse parts of various cities to stop crime happening whenever I can. Several times i just happen to encounter this other vigilante dude who was Stain when we chanced upon like the same crime scene.

Interestingly he wasnt known as a serial killer in this au, like yes he has apparently killed a few ppl but not specifically heroes or anything. He felt familiar to dream me for some reason and pretty sure it was the same for him so we became a bit more chill and friendly in our encounters.

We chatted a bit and apparently hes in the middle of an investigation of his own. He admits that he wasnt always a vigilante and had a kinda good life going for him, until sth happened that nearly resulted in his death and he became the person he was today. The circumstances resulting in his near-death were very suspect, which was what he was trying to look into.

It was implied that he was a Hero at some point so I filed that info later for research. I did some investigating on my own and from comparing his current self and his quirk to various other heroes that have been KIA, turns out he was an underground hero. Cant rmb the hero name tbh. But it hit me that this man was sb I had a history with, before I became a vigilante.

Flashback happens. Shows that both of us were classmates in the same hero high school. He was a loner like me, since we both disliked the class who wanted to be heroes for the wrong reasons. We became acquaintances, then friends once we realised we shared similar ideals of being a hero to help ppl. And uhh there was also a hint of something MORE btw us that I dont think we explicitly talked about (even tho we actually fucked once in his room or sth??? And we just end up not talking abt it for some reason?? Hnnnnngh???)

Closer to our time to graduation, we had plans to be heroes together. Oddly I had a really really bad gut feeling at this period of time, and told Chizome that he has to become a hero even if I didnt manage to, and that he has to move on even when Im gone. Which he was confused and upset by but I made him promise that cus you never know. I also wanted to talk to him abt the nature of our relationship, but before i could do that, something HAPPENED. And whatever it was I cannot for the life of me recall it but prob made me drop out of school and disappear altogether. Whatever happened I think really fucking spooked Chizome and made him grieve for me, but he made me that promise, and so he determined to continue being an underground hero, for his ideals, dreams and for that promise to me.

Dream me was confused and curious and also like wtf cus she didnt know she had known Stain, a close “friend” (cough cough) of hers before becoming a vigilante??? Which was weird af. There was a concerning gap of missing memories for a couple of months. I brushed it off earlier on apparently cus my memory was spotty in the first place, but usually i was able to rmb like the essentials of what happened in my life, so when I realised i couldnt rmb ANYTHING for this period of several months got me suspicious af. Earlier on I just thought I had dropped out of school to become a vigilante, but turns out it might be way more than that.

Cant fully recall details in the dream afterwards but it was strongly hinted that there was sth fishy going on wth the Hero commission grp and some weird gov conspiracy regarding the hero industry. That apparently Chizome was getting a bit close to while he was an underground hero which is why he got nearly killed. And then the dream ends here.

Oh boi this is such a fucking cool story idea cus I can imagine the story later on, dream me realises that whatever happened to her has got sth to do with the hero commission/gov conspiracy thing, like witnessing sth she wasnt meant to. Because of those realisations she decides to help Stain to on his mission, even though hes like no its dangerous and MY investigation and also secretly worried af for her. Then dream me might have chosen to tell him what she knows which means uhhh stain would realise that who she was and go from confusion to shock, and a whole bunch of confusing emotions plus rAGE cus someone/some grp had done this to her and also cus he still does care a lot abt her.

Whew ok this became like a fucking long post. I have figured out an ending I can put buuuut i aint gon spoil it just yet in case i might write this out cus damn. This also just made me realise I have a type, which is guys who are passionate and strong moral ideals they follow.

Thanks to anyone who managed to reach to the end here. This actually kinda reminds me of a stain x reader concept I had thought abt before. Prob might share it in a diff post uwu

I find it extremely bad that they are behaving as if nothing happened, I hope there will be changes once touring will be possible again and we won’t see these girls tagging along everywhere or being brought up in interviews all the time but somehow I’m not counting too much on that.

Final Thoughts on YGTB/The Lineup

... well let’s just jump right into it shall we?

ok.. this show was a waste of time and a waste of all my fucking emotions. the only reason i put up with YG’s bullshit is because I thought team a+jihoon would debut, but yg is too fucking stupid to do that so : )

anyways, let’s get into the reason why this show is trash :)

first of all, the emotional trauma all the boys have been put through?

there are 28 trainees, they all thought that the debut group was going to be 5 members... imagine how stressful and scary that must be for all of them. once they split from their respective teams, they were all heartbroken they were being split from their friends? seriously... what was yg doing breaking such strong teamwork in ALL the teams...

the reason why ikon was, and is, so popular is because of their strong teamwork. people are connected to the bond between the members and it shows when people have been through a lot together

moving on, there are literally 13&14 year old kids in this show... like c’mon, what i was worrying about at 14 was if my friends had the same lunch as me.. :/ and on top of the trainee life, they’re forced to be split from all their friends... these poor dudes

AND THE EDITING, OH GOSH THE EDITING

for the ENTIRE show, YG depicted team a as the “bad guys”. first from when yoonbin and yeongue lost the 2:2 battle. so many people got upset, saying that it was a popularity battle when in reality, they had the smallest gap out of all the teams... hah .

they also edited out byounggon’s rap in the Im Not Sorry performance which caused ppl to think that only Seunghun controlled that stage, when in reality, both of them chewed up the stage.

im not even going to mention how initially Yoonbin x Keita’s rap battle was edited out before they were hella popular cuz yg is a fucking snake and there are SO many examples as to which this happened so i’ll only name a few

next, THE FINAL GOING CRAZY PERFORMANCE. the focus was SO obviously on Jaehyuk when Hyunsuk started to rap ... like cameraman... the rapper was Hyunsuk, not Jaehyuk... pls ... also, when jihoon was singing, the cameraman panned to junghwan... i think im starting to predict something : )

anyways, Doyoung and Jihoon were both edited out of their FINAL PERFORMANCE ON THIS SHOW??? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. Doyoung choreographed that dance YET his solo in Earned It was edited out?? and Jihoon was just edited out completely??? i thought we would FINALLY get to hear both of their stunning vocals and ... nothing .... it’s obvious only yg’s favorites gets aired

now, mentioning all of team a+jihoon being mistreated, i kept up with this fucking show because i thought yg was just trying to rile up fans and would debut them later.... I WAS WRONG.

all silver boys can either write songs, produce music, and choreograph... yet he chose some members that cant... im not saying that Haruto and Junghwan are untalented, when I think they’re very good at what they do, but theyre just so young and have so much more room to grow. YG chose these members because of their potential .. but he refused to debut boys who already have honed their potential ... wtf

YG obviously only used Silver Boys as a way to gain popularity for this show, and it’s not sitting well with me. tons of fans have been waiting s o l o n g for these boys to debut, especially last year in the Stray Kids survival show and Mixnine. they had fans who were dedicated and saw their talent, and were waiting for them (i am one myself). and when YGTB was released, it seemed like the perfect show because it had all my favorite boys ! (ok most im looking at you jeonwoong, raesung, and noa)

but then yg turns around and pulls this ... this on us...

ALSO ive seen so many posts telling Silver Boys stans to like calm down ?? and to not hate on the members... let me get this straight, IM NOT HATING ON THEM. Simply saying someone is too young and inexperienced to debut is NOT hate.

Also, yg expected this happen. he knew junghwan (and even haruto) would get hate and backlash and he debuted them anyways... seriously if that isnt the definition of cruel. he just wants to stir up the public and honestly idk if it’s going to work this time since so many people are upset. yg SAW the online voting which, if you didn’t know, had 300K votes for the Silver Boys, yet he still didn’t choose to debut them... wow

if yg’s target was younger fans... he got them. but im just saying this now, all yg groups have older, more mature fans, and what i’ve seen from this fandom is not that. yg just lost a veteran yg stan but he doesnt care does he now

also , dont console SB fans when you’re just trying to defend your faves. and when i say console, dont say “omg just support the group! you have to stan forever or else you��re fake>:(” like... NO. you actually dont have to stan a group you dont like ??? i have freedom ?? LMAO

plus raesung coming to the final show made all of us VERY emotional and we wanted a happy ending for our boys, and we didnt get one. which obviously crushed us, so just,,, back off for a moment and dont try to make us feel worse about what’s happening right now

anyways, yg basically debuted a group with visuals (as of right now) and it’s making me sick. i didnt think he was taking the visuals things seriously but seeing this lineup? he obviously was. and no, im not saying that visuals dont have talent just to be clear. im just saying that there are people who are “not visuals” who are just as talented.

my predictions for the next three members? It’s Yoonbin or Hyunsuk, Mashiho, and Jaehyuk. why? they’re all yg’s favorites and are visuals.

im not in the mood for discussion just come in my inbox if you’re going to talk about Silver Boys or about how nice your day was cuz i need to either distract myself or mourn ;-;

also the immense guilt that silver boys stans feel right now is uncontrollable... we tried so hard for so long yet our efforts have fallen through... and not only do we have a bond towards our boys, but we have a bond with each other. Us Silver Boy stans have also been through a lot together and when you solo stans were running around, we were getting shit done. we fight for the SB boys and we fight for each other, dont think we are going to stop now <3

Why I became a fair-weather sports fan after years of being diehard

When fandom becomes badge of suffering, we all lose.

Over the past five years, I have turned into a fair-weather fan of a sports team I used to be obsessed with. And I have to tell you: it’s wonderful.

I grew up addicted to watching basketball, reading about basketball, playing basketball (poorly), playing basketball video games (less poorly), talking about basketball. And my team was the Sacramento Kings. And the Kings were horrid most of my childhood. All of my childhood? Pretty close.

I remember the 1996 playoffs series against the Sonics like it was yesterday. I was a teenager but felt like a 5-year-old on Christmas morning watching that series. Pure catharsis, even in defeat.

I worshipped Mitch Richmond and booed when the Kings passed on John Wallace for somebody named Predrag Stojakovic. (An astute analyst even then, it’s true.) I cried for Bobby Hurley and believed in Corliss Williamson more than anyone. As someone who enjoyed the Fab Five immensely, I was over the moon when Chris Webber showed up. I relished the era he heralded. So much so that as sports blogs were becoming a thing I started up a site that eventually became Sactown Royalty, the second NBA blog on SB Nation.

For nine years, I led and grew a community of like-minded fanatics. I wrote in depth about Bonzi Wells, Mike Bibby, Shelden Williams, Desmond Mason, Jason Hart, John Salmon, Francisco Garcia, Mikki Moore, Brad Miller, Spencer Hawes, Jason Thompson, Tyreke Evans, Jimmer Fredette, Hassan Whiteside, DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, Thomas Robinson, Omri Casspi, Donte Greene, Greivis Vasquez, Tyler Honeycutt (RIP), Sylven Landesburg, Orien Greene — Orien Greene started at point guard on an opening night for the Sacramento Kings! There was Justin Williams, Bobby Brown, Chuck Hayes, Kenny Thomas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Marcus Thornton, Rashad McCants, Bobby Jackson, Travis Outlaw, Andres Nocioni, Ronnie Price, Quincy Douby and exactly one game of Drew Gooden. I feuded with the play-by-play guy, two local columnists, several national reporters, the general manager, the press relations head, the owners, two head coaches and one head coach’s wife. (I think I have since buried the hatchet with all of them save for one of the head coaches, the play-by-play guy and one of the national reporters. I think. It’s hard to keep track of all of my professional squabbles.)

I was the model hardcore fan. I hated the Lakers with disturbing fervor. I would watch every game of a 17-win season and write about that horrid team 10 times a week. When I wasn’t watching or writing about them, I was thinking about them. I was hoping that someday I’d get to write about and root for and watch a good team.

And if I had kept on like that, I’d still be waiting.

In early 2014, I handed the reins of Sactown Royalty over to the team that is now at The Kings Herald. I continued to watch every Kings game that season, even having excised the professional obligation. I was still a hardcore Kings fan. But over the course of the next couple of years, I stopped the obsession. I stopped watching every single game. I stopped thinking about free agency, the coaching carousel and the NBA Draft first through the prism of what they meant for the Kings. I stopped being upset by the foibles of the doomed franchise, and started appreciating how hilariously inept the team was.

I stopped caring so much when the team gave me so little to care about. I became a fair-weather fan.

Before the coronavirus shutdown, I was to the point where I watched the Kings as much as I watched, say, the Pelicans or Grizzlies (two teams quite fun to watch, but for whom I have no real rooting interest). If the Kings were on and the game wasn’t entertaining, I’d change it. If they went on a mystifying three-game losing streak, I’d roll my eyes and watch some Lakers highlights. If they won a couple of games, if Harry Giles had a nice stint, if De’Aaron Fox looked healthy for the first time in months, I’d be excited. I allowed myself to enjoy the Kings as a fan without wrapping myself in the trappings of suffering when things went south.

I had deprogrammed myself from an obsessive fandom into something that certainly seems more healthy.

Now and then, someone will tweet about how I must never have been a true Kings fan since I gave it up now, as a decade of doom mounts. What a nightmarish view of fandom, that unless you’re willing to absorb infinite, eternal despair you are faking it! The world is suffering enough without fake-ass purity tests around hobbies. And that’s the key here: do you view your fandom as an identity or as a hobby? That’s the transition I’ve made. That’s where so many fans who can’t rattle off the 2007 opening night starting lineup but wear the ballcap or the T-shirt live. Having it as your identity is totally fine provided that doesn’t lead you to police the fandom, to determine who is good enough to be granted admission to the happy times when misery lifts for the team.

As someone who wore his fandom like a second skin before and wears it like a hat now, I can tell you that being a fair-weather fan is a totally valid way to experience sports. In fact, if your team is as punishing to your psyche as the Kings have been to their fans, I recommend it!

In fact, if you’re interested in conversion, let the coronavirus shutdown ween you off of obsessive fandom. Allow this break to detach your fandom identity from your corpus and make that team earn your loyalty not through mere continued existence but through success or good works or the creation of happiness. You don’t owe anything to the Knicks, the Browns, the Mariners, the Liberty, Arsenal, Georgia football, the Mets, the Kings, the Hornets, the Jaguars, UCLA basketball, the Sharks or the senior United States Men’s Soccer Team. You can make them try to earn your fandom and spare yourself little miseries when they continue to fail to do so.

The pull of nostalgia and identity and, in many cases, herd fandom and geography are strong. I completely understand and respect those who can’t shed the skin. For those of you who remain all-weather fans, godspeed.
