Detective Noir AU

Alright, this au has been sitting around, waiting for me to finish it but chances are, I never will :((

So instead, I'll just post what I have so far

This was inspired by that one comment on the au post the author made(at this point you could consider me a stalker for the amount of hours I've scrolled through her feed💀)

First things first, none other than our main character himself, Detective Hollow!

I made him the detective in this one mainly because I was basing it off of the theory that if there was no heroine the keyholder would simply become the hero instead(don't remember where I read this but I'm guessing it was the webtoon comment section).

I also my have just really wanted to draw him in an overcoat

gonna be honest, I did little to no research going into this AU, the thing I most tried to learn about was the femme fatale so I could get a good view on how to design Buddy

Speaking of the femme fatale:

Seems like someone got caught in the spotlight!

And before you ask, yes, those are pants. Weird ones, but pants nonetheless. I swear, I hate lighting when it's from the front. Frontal lighting can go fuck itself. Please ignore the little help lines I put in

Honestly, Buddy's outfit was probably the hardest part of this one. I wanted him to look slutty, but I didn't want to make it TOO slutty, but I feel like I may have added WAYY too many folds in his pantsuit and I kinda messed up on the overcoat lol. The diamond on his chest was inspired by the diamond on the villainess key more than anything and I tried to incorporate that into his gloves too.

Anyway, have some potential outfit sketches I made:

the two I thought might come off as too slutty and

the ultimate winner of the outfit ideas

As you can see the diamond chest window and fur coat were a mut in this outfit and I'm pretty happy with the end result

But I'm not done just yet!

Remember how I said that I made Chase the hero because of the lack of a heroine in the story? Well...

I did some more surface level research(and I mean very surface level) and decided to adapt the trope of the girl-next-door archetype for him!!

Don't think it suits him, since they usually just sit pretty and wait for the detective to notice them, but they do have badass roles once in a while and I live for those!!!

The one Chase has taken on doesn't though sadly :')

I decided to go with Charlie Hollow for this one because it sounded more like something the timid and 'pure'(yuck I know, but sadly film noir movies often prop up comparisons between the femme fatale and the girl-next-door, this being one of them) girl next door would have

Overall I tried to make this one as cutesy as possible because, why not lol

Lastly(I apologise, I made this in a rush because I was running out of motivation)

The distance between Buddy and the detective sure did close QUICK-

Originally I was planning on adding Deacon as a police officer and now that I think about it I could technically fit Prunella in here as well, but I just don't have any willpower left to keep this thing alive

My art blocks been acting up recently and I can't even pick up the pencil without immediately wanting to put it down :((

I wish I could have continued this and maybe I will someday, but until then this'll just stay in my drafts

I think that Shen Yuan came from a good family but he also suffered from a shit body and a shit outlook on life at times-????

Like I feel like the idea that he might have had some chronic illness during his life is true, and the reality that he was weaker and struggled more then his family members did probably made something in him change.

Like he’s well off and his family loves him but sometimes he sits there and wonders if it’s worth it. Like he’s not doing anything- sure he dotes on his little sister and sure he’s loved but what is doing to return that? Living? He knows his family loves him but sometimes he wishes he could do more.

So he pours himself into reviewing things online, he turns his anger at himself out to the world, he hopes that spewing anger and criticism at others will make it better- (it doesn’t)

And maybe that’s why he’s so hateful to himself, why the internalised homophobia is so bad- because does he even deserve to be loved? He was useless his last life, and in this he’s a mess- just a villain meant to die-

Shen Yuan deludes himself into placing himself lower, seeing himself as less then, just as he does to the characters that are now real people. He doesn’t want to see everyone as people, because then he has to accept the fact that this is his new life.

He can’t accept love, even if he tries, he feels guilt that he turns to anger or dismissal, because his family loves him but maybe he doesn’t think they should’ve, and now Binghe loves him, but should he? After all he did?

I think it’s kinda tragic. Shen Yuan is leagues better for the story and much kinder and healthier but he’s not perfectly fine, ya know? He’s still kinda messed up.

And I think we should discuss it more.

I tend to pigheadedly jump into things without thinking about them too much, largely because Things Aren’t Real Until They Are, and anyway, this month is basically the month of Reaping And Finding Out

#i wonder how long it would take anyone to figure it out lol #youre welcome future coldcase vloggers #but for the record if i do mysteriously vanish no its not because of my job #must be said because thats the easiest explanation people come up with yeah it would be convenient right #if i could just get a new job and suddenly everything in my life will be fixed and all of the other blatant issues clearly coming from other #sources will cease to exist #also therapy and meds will do the same thing. i might as well walk up to a stranger and ask them to snap their fingers and cure me #just as long as the hand i turn to for help points in another direction technically im being ‘helped’ right #life is just a fight and you have to keep fighting for yourself and others and hope one day someone is going to fight for you #and when people dont fight for you when you need them to it becomes clear that you dont even need to fight. it would be easier to lose #you already upset them by not fighting for yourself and instead of fighting for you now theyre fighting againt you. do you really want to #fight harder. do you really want to fight people you love. no one wants that #ive been so emotionally destroyed these past years and idk if i will ever recover or find worth in myself again #and if i got a new job tomorrow at the most comfortable high paying company in the world with a one day work week and unlimited pto #i would still feel worthless because of the experiences ive had and the way everyobe has brushed over them as if i cant feel emotion #i have been carrying so much hurt #now im going home to say goodbye to the remains of a stranger who wouldve disowned me had we ever spoken on even ground #but sure i will enjoy my trip

hpmi weiss schwarz blau unboxing! just opened one starter pack so far (nine more to go lol)

so the contents of each box are like this

game guide, game mat with a poster on the back (poster side shown here), 50 starter cards, and 1 'start plus pack' with 4 cards inside (one guaranteed holo)

the poster is... very creased lol being as it came folded up in that tiny red box, but i'm certainly not complaining. the starter cards actually fit quite neatly in the white holder they come in, so they could live in there, but i do want to put them in sleeves so probably a good thing i bought a few storage boxes too

as for what the 50 starter cards are...

i'm not sure if all 50 are exactly the same in every starter pack? they should be, amiami listing description said contents are fixed. but there's a lot of saburo here lol so i'll open another bb box soon and see if there are any variations

most cards in the starter deck come with 4 copies, some with just 2 (saburo with 4 appeared most frequently here) which is a bit odd to me... like wouldn't 3-3-2 be better than 2-2-4? maybe there is a reason though (<- wsb newbie, first time buying cards)

eta: never mind i think it get it now, i was only thinking of it from a collecting standpoint not a gameplay standpoint lol. since these are actually pre-built decks maybe there's a meta reason why there are more of the saburos lmao

then the start pack plus!

shiny ichiro ehe (i suspect it's the same holo in all the start plus packs, always the division leader <- ETA I WAS WRONG THE FP HOLO WAS GENTARO but the bbmtc ones i opened were ichiro and samatoki yippee)

(left side is what the backs of the sleeves look like, varies by division ofc)

i put him in a sleeve pretty much immediately (protecc) and the plastic of the sleeves feel better than i expected (not super thin/flimsy)

though the holo cards have the design on the back (other cards all have plain wsb white backing) and battle info on other side so... the sleeves wouldn't be very practical if you're actually playing with them (would need sleeves that are transparent on both sides)

but not a problem for me since i plan on only collecting not ever playing lmao

probably won't do individual posts for all the other boxes, but will post the shiny ones soon. not getting my hopes up for anything special though, the real gacha will be the booster packs coming to me later lmao

anyway i’m trying so hard to see a real psychiatrist who can prescribe me real adhd drugs and maybe that will fix me. so all hope is not lost. yet. i’m just presently miserable but this too shall pass. apparently.

just one semester i'd like to be able to dodge having to sign up for any early morning classes

#I WAS SO CLOSE #sosososo close to getting everything 11am at the earliest but then this stupid thing only has 3 sections #and the latest one is full already #i had a moment where i was like ok i have to take one of these two classes and i'd prefer the former #but the former only has terrible sections open #i was like ok do i value taking courses im actually interested in or do i value my sleep #and i was literally about to go with the latter LOL #but then it turns out the other course also only has terrible sections open so. easy decision then #im so tired i hope my advisor knew what she was doing when she recommended this list of courses #bc idk if i even see some of these under my list of required courses on my degree plan page #i sure hope it's all worth my time and money i mean i hope these courses are what i need #peach rambles
