i haven't actually played sims in almost 2 years

I should've made this post a long time ago, but I haven't had the energy to do so, and now i suddenly have.

I've enjoyed my time here on simblr; creating cc, being a part of a community and sharing my passions for creating, gaming and everything else i've shared over the years. But it's time for me to officially close this chapter of my life, even though it kind of has been closed for a while.

The important stuff:

can i just word vomit for a min...

there was a point in late 2023 where i felt like i overstayed my welcome on simblr and i planned on just wrapping frozen pines up as quickly as possible and moving on. continuing to write when it's clear that the audience for it is dwindling felt so embarrassing that i almost didn't even want to put effort into it anymore, because i was afraid it just looked pathetic (obligatory disclaimer: no one made me feel this way, you're all so lovely, it's just the nature of seeing a community change over 7 years). writing already feels very personal to me and it's becoming increasingly harder for me to put my work out there (again, for reasons unrelated to simblr and entirely related to mental illness 🤙🏻). i know my story is so long that it deters new readers, and so sporadic that it makes old readers drop off with time. this has really been bothering me lately because i don't know what i can do to fix it. i don't think there IS anything i can do.

but. okay. don't make fun of me for saying this. dan and phil returning to youtube kinda changed my mindset? they may be pulling a fraction of the views they got in their peak, but they're happier than they've ever been and they're working on things they actually want to do, not things they think will be particularly popular. seeing that has made me realize that it is possible to keep finding joy in a community that has largely moved on without you. obviously my little blog is nowhere near the same scale, so this feels kind of silly, but i've been thinking about all the things i used to do on simblr that were never fun for me, i mainly did them because i knew they would get notes or because i felt like i had to do it. making cc, lookbooks, sim requests, reshade help (oh my god the reshade help), lot downloads, etc. they DID get notes, but i can't imagine spending my time doing any of that stuff ever again tbh.

on top of that, it makes me sad to scroll through my dash and realize that i don't recognize most of the people i see anymore. i still talk to some wonderful people here who i consider friends and that's invaluable to me (💖), but the broader community aspect is something i no longer feel a part of. and believe me, i know i'm at fault here because it's not like i'm going out of my way to talk to new people or participate in trends like i used to. i don't blame anyone except the passage of time!!

frozen pines, and simblr by extension, played such a gigantic part in my life when i needed it the most. and that's not to say that i don't still care about it, because i absolutely do, but it's a different kind of feeling. i've always promised that i would give frozen pines a satisfying conclusion rather than silently abandoning it someday, and though i do intend to keep that promise, i know it's possible that i might never get there. but i don't want to let my own insecurities get in the way of something i really enjoy doing. writing is an intrinsic piece of me that i'll never quit doing, but sharing my writing on tumblr is something that can't (and shouldn't) last forever. i know that. but i'm going to enjoy it to the fullest while we're all still here together 💞

to anyone who's still reading my silly story after all these years (especially those of you who still check in on my blog even though you're not on simblr anymore): thank you thank you thank you THANK YOUUU. you don't have to change a single thing about what you're doing. this is not me fishing for compliments or putting down an ultimatum, this is just me trying to make sense of my feelings.

but with all this being said, i've decided to quit simblr and start my own exclusive streaming service for $60 a year, i hope you'll all support me as i increase my production value 😌

Very Late Simblr Gratitude Day

I was barely active this past Gratitude Day because of an evil stomach bug and my wisdom teeth extraction, so my apologies to my beloved mutuals and everyone who took some time to give me a heads up that day. I'll be answering you little by little, but I wanted to make this post first.

I felt welcome since day one and honestly? That was super overwhelming (I'm shyyy) because I didn't know how to react to that level of kindness, but little by little I started to open up. The way people support each other made me think "yeah, I want to do that too!" and make people feel as comfortable as the community did with me. I see it as a little, unconscious positivity chain that I value very much.

I cannot stress enough how happy I am in this chaotic simblr community, mainly because it does work and feels like a real one. Not even in my personal social media I've seen these levels of interaction, support and fun between people. Sure, there are ups and downs, but all and all I still think this is my happy place and it's all because of you: The talent, creativity, chaos, fun, humor and cooperation is incomparable to me. That's why I don't leave.

I know I haven't been very active this past year and a half, but I hope that'll change soon. Since it's also Christmas Eve in this side of the globe, I wish you all have some nice and peaceful holidays.

Happy day-after simblr appreciation day!

Last night, I started working on tagging simblrs that I'm inspired by and simblrs that I'm always happy to see interacting with my posts in some way. And these two circles are basically one and the same (so thanks, friends!) Tumblr wouldn't let me tag all of you in one post, so I had to split it up in two. Also, I'm going off memory so I'm sure there are people I'm forgetting but know that if I follow you, I appreciate you and the talent and enthusiasm you've shared with this community.

As some of you may remember, I took a break from simblr in the spring of this year. My personal life went from an all-time high to an all-time low by the time summer rolled in. Grief engulfed nearly every aspect of my life to the point where I felt like I was putting on my brave-face mask out in the "real world". I returned to this game and this community as an escape -- a distraction from the loss that seemed so prominent. But every time I played this game, or scrolled through tumblr and caught up with people's stories and gameplay, I felt like the grief was less noticeable even just temporarily.

There's the analogy of grief as a bouncing ball in a closed box. The box has a pain button inside of it and in the immediate aftermath of the loss, the ball takes up the entire space of the box, triggering the intense emotions associated with grief. As time goes on, the ball gets smaller and the ball doesn't always press on that pain button. This game and the simblr community helped make that ball feel smaller in the immediate aftermath of my loss. And I know it sounds kind of silly, but when you're confronted with something so unimaginable that you can't even begin to process, you can't belittle anything that helps you cope or brings you peace.

So that's why I'm so thankful for having this space to share our pixels and stories. Seeing the creativity as I scroll through my dashboard, I'm constantly inspired by how we all turn this game into our own little escape (even when we deliberately cause chaos for our sims -- better them than us, am I right?). I wish everyone good health and happiness in the new year, and I can't wait to see what you all bring to the dash in 2024.

First up we're going BIG! I'm talking time to ship up every single member of the York family to go and meet the Alegria family by @matchalovertrait! Wouldn't be too massive of a trip though since we're mostly all in Tartosa.

I suspect Devin and Dulce would get along. I think Aaron would probably be a bit too pompous for Erick to maintain a conversation with. I'm guessing Noemi would probably not mind talking to Calista since they're both family and career women. Angel would probably be the one helping Joey make sure Alfred and Rilian are having fun.

Supernatural Hang out

Sending my werewolf Samir, his boyfriend Reece, and the Knightstone's to try and make friends...

They would be meeting up with Caleb and Morgan by @marcishaun, as well as Lou and Lux by @ethicaltreatmentofcowplants.

As well as Priscilla, Tony and Moumou by @eljeebee and the Bohan family by @aliengirl.

First up Moumou (who's a cat if you didn't know) would be surrounded by all the younger sims. The youngest would probably just all be sitting there making imitation cat noises. I like to think Silas would be interested to meet Carina and Orion and have a million questions about how they manage to look both human and alien at the same time.

Blue would tell Adam how he carried a pregnancy and Adam would storm off in horror for several reasons. First off Adam doesn't want more kids. Plus he's hot headed. Then of course Adam hates UFO aliens getting humans pregnant and would probably feel like the tale hits to close to home, even though Rhea and Blue made their kids with love. Suzanna however would be fascinated to learn about the process.

Priscilla would likely try to cheer up Caleb about being a vampire while Tony would probably try to impart some wisdom about being a human in love with an immortal to Morgan.

Let's be real Samir would probably sit there brooding the entire time but Reece would undoubtedly be chatting at a million miles an hour with Lou and Lex to try and learn all he could about real werewolves.

EDIT: I forgot my main point which is I think most of them would enjoy talking about plants and gardening and nature.

A lot of the talk would revolve around travel and what different countries are like. The way you take screenshots could be an ad for sims 3 honestly, reading through the Maldanos makes me want to play my own game!

@twinsimming - thank you for your hard work making mods they're always such great additions to my game!! I specifically really really loved the acne mod, it's a feature that I'd always wanted in sims 3, I used to roll the chance it would occur and manually place it on my sims before your mod came along, so it really revolutionised the way that I play in such a good way! haha

@thesweetsimmer111 - you have created some of my favourite mods for sims 3, I'm so grateful for the work that you do and I use all of them in my game!! I specifically love how fluid the animations are and how they all feel like a really natural addition to the base game <3

@horusmenhosetix - there's not many cc creators like you making maxis-match content for sims 3 anymore, and I use so much of your cc in my game because I LOVE the way it looks! I really appreciate the work that you do for the community!! thank you for your hard work and your beautiful creations <3

@nectar-cellar - thank you for your beautiful cc and tutorials, i've learned so much from your tutorials on how to take good looking screenshots and set up amazing looking lighting, I also love the way that you create sims! They always look like real people because of how unique and detailed their faces are, I'm so inspired by your style!

@faeriefrolic - your sims are SO cute omg, i'm loving reading the jam legacy and the way that you create so much drama with your sims, it's something I'm trying to incorporate more of in my gameplay because I feel like I stray away from having any conflict, but I love how there's deaths, romance and so many emotions flying around in your gameplay! It makes it feel so much more real, dynamic and entertaining to read! <3

@obscurus-noctem - every time a post of yours pops up it looks like a totally different game than sims 3, I'm so in awe of the way that you're able to create sims to be so detailed and compose screenshots to be so beautiful - i LOVE deb belinski as well she's such an icon

@sim-songs - thank you for your gorgeous maxis-match cc, i also love your gameplay style, the composition of colours on your screenshots makes them feel like a cosy warm hug and i love that your sims have such unique faces, it makes them feel like real people!

@magiclabs - i love the way that you take screenshots, they're always so colourful and cosy - I love the Fitch legacy, your gameplay is so maxis match and cute it always makes me wanna go on a cc shopping spree and then go play my own game! The way that you decorate lots is also so detailed and inspiring <3

@papermint-airplane - your scenery screenshots are just so incredibly beautiful, i also love the dialogue on your gameplay posts it feels so realistic and is always so funny! you're such a warm light in the community <3

@mosneakers - the Darling legacy will always be such a big inspiration behind my gameplay - the way that your sims look so eccentric and your screenshots feeling so magical has always been something that i strive for in my own gameplay - your incredible storytelling abilities are also unmatched, whenever i read through your stories they always manage to pull at every different emotion in me! <3

@frostedshore - i LOVE your sims style and your gameplay screenshots are always so well composed, i also really like how when you makeover sims you keep their original personalities shining through, your version of Bella Goth specifically is probably my favourite makeover I've ever seen of her - I love how you captured her essence as a femme fatale which is what I've always imagined her as!

@thepettymachine - your gameplay inspires me so much, the trout legacy and the day legacy are some of my favourite gameplays on simblr to sit and read through! Your sims are also always GORGEOUS and I love love love your sims style!

I'm really sorry if I left anyone out, I'm bad at remembering names!
