"Applications have opened for a $42 million guaranteed-income pilot in Illinois, where 3,250 households will be given $500 per month for two years.
The project will provide the "no-strings-attached" payments to residents of Cook County, the US's second-largest county by population. The county, which includes much of Chicago, has more than 5 million residents.
Toni Preckwinkle, the president of the county's board of commissioners, said the program is the "largest publicly funded guaranteed-income pilot in American history." It aims to improve the health and financial well-being of the participants and will also be used to gather data on the impact of such projects.
A bellwether universal-basic-income program in Stockton, California, found that after a year of receiving $500 a month, full-time employment among participants had increased while depression and anxiety had decreased.
"We are confident that by directly investing in our residents — by giving poor folks what they need most, cash — we will have meaningful impact on our communities and create lasting change here in Cook County," Preckwinkle said on Twitter."

"The Zoff between the Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez is apparently anything but settled. So there is increasing speculation that the dispute between the stars will escalate. According to the latest media reports, the old and new Formula 1 world champion Verstappen should be “anything but happy” with Perez as a teammate. As "F1-insider.com" reports, the Dutchman wishes his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo back. The Australian is set to return to Red Bull in 2023 as a test and reserve driver… 👀"

Children in the dominant society commit all kinds of heinous crimes and don't even see a handcuff. Meanwhile Black children are sent to Angola by these WS judges.
Tumblr media
As of 2019, Black children were 4.4 times more likely to be incarcerated compared to white children, according to the Sentencing Project, a research and advocacy organization focused on decarceration efforts.
insider.com
Dozens of jailed kids, nearly all of them Black, must be removed from a former Louisiana death row...
The children have been incarcerated at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, the nation's largest adult maximum security prison.
A judge said dozens of jailed kids must be moved out of a former Louisiana death row prison unit.
The Louisiana State Penitentiary is the largest adult maximum security prison in the country.
The kids faced lengthy detainment in their cells and diminished education, testimony revealed.
A group of incarcerated children, most of them Black, spent nearly a year jailed in a former death row wing of the Louisiana State Prison.
Court testimony later brought to light concerning conditions: They were forced to stay in their cells for sometimes an entire day. One child was pepper-sprayed for throwing liquid at a guard. And they were denied adequate education.
Louisiana State is the country's largest adult maximum security prison. It is sometimes called Angola, the name of the old prison — a slave plantation — where the new one now sits.
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards first ordered the kids moved to Angola last summer. Months of legal battles followed.
Now, after a year, a federal judge has intervened, ruling Friday that the kids must be moved out of the prison by September 15.
"For almost 10 months, children — nearly all Black boys — have been held in abusive conditions of confinement at the former death row of Angola — the nation's largest adult maximum security prison," David Utter, lead attorney on the case, wrote in a statement on Friday. "We are grateful to our clients and their families for their bravery in speaking out and standing up against this cruelty."
While rates of US youth incarceration have fallen in recent decades — declining 77 percent between 2000 and 2020 — racial disparities persist. As of 2019, Black children were 4.4 times more likely to be incarcerated compared to white children, according to the Sentencing Project, a research and advocacy organization focused on decarceration efforts.
In his ruling, the judge said prison officials had violated the Fourteenth Amendment and that the children had faced cruel and unusual punishment, according to the ACLU of Louisiana.
The ruling came after a hearing last month revealed officials detained the children in their cells for long periods of time, used pepper spray in certain cases, and limited their access to education.
Testimony from a guard at the facility and an expert witness revealed officials held several children in their cells for anywhere between 14 and 22 hours, depending on the day, local news station WWNO reported. State law prohibits guards from holding children in their cells for longer than eight hours outside of sleeping hours.
Video footage played at the hearing also revealed a guard had used pepper spray against a child after he threw liquid from his cell toilet, according to WWNO. Submitted testimony from the children involved in the case also indicated that their required access to education had declined since moving to the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
Following the judge's ruling, the Office of Juvenile Justice said in a statement their office has taken "extraordinary measures" to ensure the children maintained access to education and had suitable living conditions.
"While we disagree with the court's ruling today and will be seeking an emergency writ, we will continue to explore every option available to us that ensures the safety of staff, community members, and youth in our care," the statement read.

Lol, not sure if true, podcast guy posted... his podcast partner will poke fun at him. twitter.com/NathanCHubbard/status/1685510843096821760?s=20
Lol, livestream I was watching heard false rumor of HS presence tonight (or maybe comments just joking during 1989 set). The mom & kid were excited, the mom sounded like a serious HS fan, but then they realized it was not true. Fan overlap.
I noticed the young kid (maybe a boy- not sure) after singing (distinctly- the words):
If you have children someday When they point to the pictures Please tell them my name Tell them how the crowds went wild Tell them how I hope they shine
The kid asks, "Mom, are you crying?" Mom replies, "I'm just having the best time with you." Moments later... "The comments are saying you deserve candy."
A few sets later - Kid was saying, "I need candy- I'm getting sleepy."
Sadly the kid missed the "dive"- although mom tried to prep kid. The kid was disappointed and kept saying it was the moment they had been waiting for all night.
Lol, concert high & candy crush will make sure sleep will be welcomed tonight. It was kinda funny hearing the kids sing the swear words.
Reminded me of this story:
Ryan Reynolds jokes that his 3-year-old with Blake Lively drops 'the F-bomb' singing along to Taylor Swift's music
In case you were wondering, Taylor Swift's new album "Midnights" has gone down a treat with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's children — although its explicit lyrics have caused a bit of an issue.
Appearing on "The Jess Cagle Show" on SiriusXM, Reynolds opened up about how much his wife and three daughters have been enjoying Swift's 10th studio album, which was released in October.
"That's like a religion in our house," he said. "In fact, I'm not making this up. We are having a Taylor Swift 'Midnights' dance party right after this."
"It's Sunday. We're headed straight to the porch where we're doing a full dance number set to 'Midnights.'" he continued, adding with a laugh: "Swear words included."
The actor then explained that because 'Midnights' is Swift'smost explicit album to date, his youngest daughter, who is just 3 years old, has inadvertently been "throwing down the F-bomb" while singing along to such songs as "Lavender Haze," "Snow on the Beach," "Karma," and, of course, "Vigilante Shit."
"My favorite thing is when a three-year-old is just throwing down the F-bomb in a song and has no idea," he said.

This is about to get crazier: https://f1-insider.com/formel-1-red-bull-horner-verstappen-62322/ the employee was fired and she's expected to pursue legal action in court. I saw another reporter say that Oliver Mintzlaff is on his way to Jeddah as well.
Oliver is apparently going to be in Jeddah.
She had until today to appeal, not sure if she did that.
But I guess if she pursues a civil case she can do that whenever. What I want to know is, why didn’t she take the money Horner offered? A civil case is years off stress, she won’t be awarded more than £650k in damages once all the lawyer fees are dealt with. Obviously we don’t know she was offered money but she probably was offered some. Why do all this?

He said that whoever created the Yup’ik translations just lifted full phrases from a compilation of language and folklore from Far East Russia known as the Rubtsova texts. It was published in the Soviet Union in the 1940s. . . I mean imagine if someone, you know, took all of your folktales and then interviewed your great-grandmother about her experiences growing up. And had all of this information recorded, and wrote it down, and then scrambled it and stuck it in various different ways and made kind of a collage out of it,” Holton said. “It’s offensive.
Gary Holton quoted in a report by Emily Schwing at KYUK. FEMA sent ‘unintelligible’ disaster relief information to Alaska Native people impacted by Typhoon Merbok
I got to this report by way of a story at Insider.com. which captured the grift well, but left me wondering about the trauma it caused. This  Alaska Public Media reporting explains that important part of the story.
The Insider article links to an Alaska State page on boarding schools, as well as previous Insider reporting about the remains of children left buried at the former site of schools.
