TruthShriekers AU, the Setup
Weeks turn into months, and after two years, April, Wes, Dib and Dipper are close friends.  Forum posting has turned into DMs, private group chats, emails, texts and finally video calls.  At this point, the only thing left to do is meet.
A little difficult when you live all over the country.
So come summer, the gang is going to go on a cross country trip to meet each other and hunt the paranormal!  There are some concerns, and not everyone is super mobile, but they’ve got a plan.
Wes lives in prime ghost-hunting territory and is the least mobile.  He’s just gotten his license, but doesn’t have a car, so the gang will start their adventures in Amity Park, Michigan.
Dipper is going to catch a flight and April will pick him up from the airport when she drives over from New York.  She’s borrowing a neighbor’s car, an old junker they were ready to scrap anyways.  They’ll use it to carpool, with April and Wes driving.
Dib is concerningly mobile for a twelve-year-old, but he guarantees he can make it on his own to Amity Park.  It’s the shortest trip, only a few hours drive by car since he lives in the next state over, so they’re worried, but willing to trust him.  For now.
After some ghost hunting, they’ll swing down to Dib’s hometown to get a tour of Membrane Labs and check out his “alien” classmate.
Then, a weekend in Point Pleasant, West Virginia for the Mothman festival and a little bug-hunting of their own.
Then they’ll swing up to Chicago to check out the (second) most haunted city in America!  From there, it’s a long drive across country before they hit California, so they figured they’d save some money by camping along the way instead of staying in hotels.
But then they get to check out San Francisco!  After that, one more very long ride to New York City so April can show them around the Big Apple before they all part ways.
It’s… a lot, and it’s not exactly easy on anyone’s budget, but everyone’s been saving money from allowances, part-time jobs, birthdays and anything else they can, so it’s just barely doable, but it’s tight.  The campgrounds will have to be cheap, they need to couch surf as much as possible in the different cities, and there’s not really any money left for anything else, so it’s going to be a lot of bologna sandwiches and ramen, but everyone’s looking forward to it.
Except this plan almost immediately starts falling apart.  For one, Dipper never actually got his parents approval to fly across country by himself.  In fact, they’d already planned for him and his sister to spend the summer with their great uncle in Oregon.
It’s okay.  Instead of checking out the Bay area, there’s bound to be something in Oregon… right?
But this also means that he won’t be able to join them for most of the trip, and he might not be able to go to New York at all.  Still, the important part is that they’re going to finally meet.  They’ll make it work and meet him there.
And of course, Mikey found out about April’s plans and told Leo, who told Raph, who told Donnie who will absolutely not be left out of a chance to tour the Membrane Labs.  Mikey’s not about to be left behind on a ghost hunting summer, and if they’re going, the rest of the boys are going, too.
Downside, there’s now four more people and April needs to prep her friends because her “brothers” look a little… different from other people.  Upside, there’s now four more people contributing to the budget AND they can take the Turtle Tank.  That’ll give them all a lot more room, even with the group doubling, AND they have room to pack April’s kayak.  If they’re going to go camping across country and hit up two cities on Lake Michigan, she’s bringing it.
Plus, the Turtle Tank doesn’t run on gas.  She doesn’t know what it runs on, but it means they don’t need money for gas anymore or to stop to refuel, and that’s a win in her book.
See?  The plan is still salvageable.  Now, they all just need to hit the road.
After all, what else can go wrong?

The last interaction Dib has with his father for years.
Things said... things unsaid...
Sometimes... you just need to let them know, the things you hold onto.
An echo return of past conversations
Part of the Post Florpus AU in the somewhat distant future.
Dib and Zim leave for college or something, I don’t know.
This comic is ooooooooooold. Like around two years old. I shared an preview update on my Kofi and shared with a few people in discord servers for awhile, but I never posted it publicly.
Part of the reason I held onto it for such a long time: (personal long ramblings under the cut and talk about my grief experiences.)
....was partly because I felt without context for the overall series huge chunks missing about Dib’s character development in Post Florpus and what I have planned, it would have come across as a shallow thing... Dib forgiving his Dad for being a neglectful father or something akin to that and I feared the protentional backlash something like this could have among the Invader Zim community. Since people who connect personally with that show typically all have their own issues regarding their parents. (not always but I see it very often)
And I changed the dialogue of what Dib said to his father over several times. Like “I love you” “I forgive you....” but it didn’t seem appropriate to me. Nothing felt right other than telling him that He’s proud of him in the same way that Membrane told Dib in Enter the Florpus.
And no, Dib doesn’t forgive his Dad for having a shitty neglectful childhood. Cause he was, a terrible parent, but Dib can acknowledge that his Dad is getting better... and working to improve... and knows his Dad loves him... but he also can establish boundaries and set his distance... this is the last thing Dib basically says to Membrane before he cuts him out of his life temporarily when he goes to University.
And it very personally echos the relationship that I had with my Father and Mother. There was a huge period of time where I hated my father after he passed away. For how distant he was in his parenting style and how much he left my controlling Mom to do everything. When he passed away I felt like my Mom was tighter with a leash on me, and it took a long time and therapy on both of our ends to have a healthy relationship with good boundaries.
I’m on real good terms with my Mom now and I can’t imagine a time where it was ever tense between us, and she’s really a different person then the one I grew up with. Heck, even Mom from seven years ago is a different person and was way were then. I’m glad that I can call my Mom my friend too.
I know it doesn’t always work out that way in real life for some people.... but this AU is extremely personal to me, and I like to write about my displacement in my family since my Dad died, and what happened over the years as we coped with that.
Post Florpus AU stemed from me being emotional about ETF due to my grief of losing my father and my own personal experiences with my family just struck the right chord at the right time in 2019. And that has never changed.
I drew this two years ago angry at the time... thinking that there were many things I wanted to tell my Dad. How he could have been there for Mom more when me and my sister were struggling with heavy bullying in school, how Dad could have took on more responsibilities when my Mom tried to go back to college. And how I still wanted him here.... but in retrospect, he did the best he could do at the time, knowing what he knew... as an undiagnosed autistic and everything else....
Like there’s no forgiveness of his favoritism of one child over the other and how he left Mom to do all the parenting. But I feel if he was alive in our family unit today, we’d all have a healthier family dynamic and balance. People can always change, and change every day and I personally don’t hold onto memories of people when I know every five years someone can be reborn. But the effort always needs to be there.
I don’t know. I’m rambling.
In any case, I just kept this under my belt for so long because I was worried of public perception and worrying people might judge me for “Forgiving shitty dads” or something...
Sorry to break it to you... but in this AU everyone does get better. Dib doesn’t even need to be in contact with his Dad, and he won’t for a long while until he matures more.
Forgiveness is a choice on the Membrane Sibling’s part, and sometimes, in this case... it isn’t needed. Membrane himself doesn’t even want forgiveness for his shitty parenting in the past. He just wishes for his children to grow up happy and healthy, and if they want to stay in contact with him, great, but he won’t force himself when he’s not wanted. It’s a delicate balance.... He’s not forgiven exactly, but the Siblings appreciate the effort... and they like who he is now, rather than who he was... but it will take a long time before they can have a proper adult child and parent relationship. Baby steps.
TLDR: My au. My rules. Membrane Trying juice.

No one’s gonna see this, buttt-
Last year, I kept this IZ X TOH au between myself and my best friend, but I kinda wanna talk about it now since @thechaoticlittlejester wanted to revive it and add their ideas too! (They’re rlly smart and cool so follow them :3)
Anywayyy here’s what my idea last year was like
No, it doesn’t take part in the Boiling Isles, it takes place in the normal IZ universe
It’s kinda more like a sequel of invader Zim that takes place 3 years after the Florpus incident, but the characters have personality traits from the TOH characters
All the weird things from Boiling Isles happens on earth
Example: Grom is actually an alien who wanted to kill Zim (because of course it did) and went to Earth to seek revenge coincidentally during Prom in skool!
Humans are still stupid and didn’t really care much about the weird happenings and thought Grom was just some failed science experiment from chemistry class or something
ANYWAY MOVING ONTO MORE ZIMPORTANT DETAILS-
This is a really complicated thing to say buttt- some IZ characters have more than one TOH character role/story
Example: Gaz is mainly in Eda’s place, but also has the character traits and development of Willow’s (because she’s also the reliable one in the story and pretends she isn’t suffering)
And Zim is mainly in Amity’s role, but also has King’s kind of story (like- King thought he was the King of demons when he wasn’t, and Zim thought he was the best invader when he’s actually defective)
(BUT ZIM DOESNT HAVE KING’S *ROLE* BECAUSE THIS IS A ZADR STORY AND DIB IS LUZ IN THIS AU!! HE ONLY HAS KING’S *STORY*)
Like it’s not really your standard [FAVE SHOW] as [OTHER FAVE SHOW] AU! It’s just a fan made Invader Zim sequel with stories based on TOH’S stories! (And this AU is mainly about Gaz, Dib and Zim’s shenanigans)
And of course, it’s really gonna be out of character for Dib and Zim because they’re a lot nicer since they’re in Luz and Amity’s roles kdkedmdkdkdkd
Tumblr media
(This is what me from last year wrote idjejdjekroeokr it’s so cringe lol)
Now time to explain the character roles:
Dib as Luz!
I know Dib as Amity sounds like it makes more sense, but I chose Dib as Luz because they’re both excluded by everyone in skool, they have “weird” interests, and Prof Membrane would probably want to send Dib to a “real science” camp like how Camila wanted to send Luz to the “normal” camp. (Also both Luz and Dib are dorky dorks lolll)
Zim as Amity!
It’s not justtt because of the ZADR as Lumity thing, it’s also because Zim wants to be the Tallests’ “star student” or in this case, star invader. And like how Amity had that amulet that controlled her, Zim’s PAK had a program that made him loyal to the Tallests (which he would break later on). Also, Zim killed Miyuki with a flesh eating BLOB, and that reminds me of abomination goo loll
So in this AU, the Irkens use those kinds of blobs to create weapons (like how the Blight Industries use abomination goo to make abomatons)
Lastly, in this AU, Zim reads to kids. It sounds out of character but I would like to think that over the years, he’s actually great with kids because he’s been dealing with Gir lolll- (also Zim’s a dad to his minions in my heart, shushhhh)
Gaz as Eda! Even tho she takes Eda’s role, she’s still Dib’s younger sister. Anyway, she takes Eda’s role because she’s sassy and acts like she doesn’t care but does. Also, in this AU, Gaz secretly has a curse, and has an uncontrollable pig demon form.
The reason why she kept it a secret is because she knew how crazy Dib is over supernatural / paranormal creatures and is scared that he would reveal it to everyone. (But Dib accidentally kindaaa gave her away to the Swollen Eyeball and had to rescue her— like how Eda was taken away by the Emperor’s Coven and Luz had to save her)
Tak as Hunter!
Tak somehow manages to get out of her janitor job and became the Lavender Guard of the Tallests. She still hates Zim and had that “Amity vs Hunter” fight with her. She’s also still a cringefail depressed emo like Hunter-
Gir as Hooty!
Both Hooty and Gir Are craAAaAaaAzyyyy beings who might secretly be Gods.
Okay seriously though- Gir once possessed Zim’s entire base and made it move around, which is literally like the plot Hooty’s Moving Hassle where Hooty gets possessed and moves around too.
Plus I’d like to think that Gir would wanna prove himself to Zim and make some Tunnel of Love thing like how Hooty did to make ZADR canon! (Except this Tunnel of Love is more disturbing and has literal human hearts. Whose hearts were those? Nobody knows…)
————
Anywayyy this was an intro of my cringe AU from last year! Bye nonexistent readers since again, no one’s gonna read thisssss- (except for thechaoticjester since I tagged them idkekdekrkeiir)

Blog info (currently)
Canon Characters it has: Dib, Gaz and Professor Membrane. Tallest's Miyuki, Spork, Red and Purple. Invader's Zim, Skoodge, Tak and Tenn. Gir, MiMi and Tenn's malfunctioning SIR's. Announcer (Anno, for short)
OC's it has: Amber, Lili, JuJu, Six, Ocean, Arc, Bezl and Tox
Timelines:
Pre Canon (Elite days and before)
Canon (spans the show and movie)
Post Canon (A Future AU I've started)
Long-ass OC stuff under the cut!
Tumblr media
1:
Tumblr media
Invader Amber (she/her). Her antenna are shaped in an almost Z, and her goggles are tinted blue, Amber didn't always need them, but after an incident during her Elite days, she's both needed them and acted more defective since.
2 & 3:
Tumblr media
Invader Lili and her not-shattered-anymore Sir Unit.
Last to conquer a planet, Yautjles 211.4 being home of the terrible Morphic Beasts, who crashed their ship upon entering the atmosphere of the planet. The crash cracked Lili's pak and broke Tox to pieces, Tox doesn't have an eye due to it. Lili uses she/her.
4:
Tumblr media
Assistant Navigator Six (they/them). They would be Lead Nav if not for the height, best navigator on the massive. Hates they have to fly in a straight line (Six: seriously what the fuck-)
5:
Tumblr media
Head Scientist and shortest irken on the Massive, JuJu! (They/them). JuJu has only slightly poor eyesight, but is the one that made (and repairs) Amber's goggles during training. The Tallest hate the fact that their the best, yet shortest.
6:
Tumblr media
Lieutenant Ocean (she/her, and I'm aware she is in a Tallest uniform in the drawing, I didn't realize till abt halfway through). She's maybe two inches shorter than The Tallest, and takes over after the Florpus incident.
7 & 8:
Tumblr media
Arc (he/him) is a Vortian Technican who's chances of joining the Resisty were ruined by finding Bezl at his doorstep, Bezl imprinted before Arc could figure out what to do.
PAKless Irkens are dangerous, hybrids even more so. Bezl is a PAKless, lab-made Irken hybrid, mixed dna is from a member of the bee-like Apismeleions. And he got left at a certain unfortunate Vortian's homestead. (Arc loves his son ofc). Bezl currently has two small semi-transparent wings, that match the orange of his eyes (Apismeleions have star-like pupils as well, so he looks like that normally too)

For the invader zim ship thing, uhhhh… RaPr!!
Tumblr media
This is not an OTP, but it is a close one. My fav part of it would be them trying to hide it from the empire. And also, the AU where they get exiled to earth after the Florpus.
I also like them as a bromance.

IZ - "Little Green Men" - WIP
Ah yes, after nearly two decades I am back on my Invader Zim bullshit.
This's kind of a love letter to a bunch of the Invader Zim AUs I've read in the last few years. The IZ fandom is small but mighty and I love every single one of you <3
Essentially, after the events of Enter the Florpus, Zim left Earth to go "rescue" his Tallests from their imminent destruction.
On this "mission" of his, he runs into the Resisty. Where he's recognized as being y'know, the one responsible for the Tallests entering the Florpus in the first place, and therefore destroying a large part of the Irken Armada. He is a hero and they give him all the praise and accolades he's always been wanting.
Just one problem:
He'd already rescued the Tallests, knows they're safe, and now has to destroy them again before the Massive rejoins the rest of the Irken Armada.
Or at least, that's kinda the vision I have for this particular part of the story. I write out of order when I'm drafting sooo... started with this, earlier today:
Dib didn’t really understand what, exactly, he’d done to deserve this – but honestly, he damn well knew he didn’t deserve any of it.
As it was, he sat at the end of his bed, in his fucking boxers, his scythe-like hair drooping in front of his eyes. He’d just gotten himself out of the shower. And found himself standing eye to eye with a familiar pair of magenta eyes.
“What do you want, Zim?” Dib asked, standing up and ignoring just how much shorter Zim was than him, now, as he moved to his dresser.
“Eh?? How’d you know it was me?!”
Dib didn’t bother hiding his eye roll and gestured to Zim’s face. “You forgot your human eye contacts,” he said, slipping into a black pair of thin, ripped jeans.
“No I didn’t,” Zim said, pointing an accusatory finger in Dib’s direction. “You lie! You lieeee!”
With a heavy, beleaguered sigh, Dib pulled his Neutral Face shirt on over his head. He smoothed it down, making note that he needed to start eating again, damnit – as his shirt now seemed to hang off his frame like a shirt on a hanger.
Now properly dressed, Dib turned around to face Zim and leaned his hip back against his dresser. He folded his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow at Zim.
It’d been a few years since they’d last seen each other. The whole Florpus incident had left an odd, bitter taste in Dib’s mouth. And Zim…
Well, Zim had supposedly returned back to Irk – to prove his worth and show his loyalty to his Tallests. Or something. Dib tried arguing with him that it was pointless – that they clearly didn’t care about him.
Whatever. It didn’t matter. Zim does what Zim wants, and nothing can stop him. Ever.
“Is this the way you greet your greatest enemy?” Zim bellowed in that way that Dib always thought meant Zim was genuinely angry. Now, he knew better. It was bravado. Bait. Part of the song and dance they’d done when Dib was a child and Zim –
Well, he was an adult Irken, wasn’t he? He’d implied being much, much older than Dib himself. Even if he did act like a ridiculous fifth grader right along with Dib.
“I have work in an hour,” Dib said with a shrug. “And let me tell you, I greet it with even less enthusiasm than I did you, just now.”
Zim stared at him, the magenta of his natural, bug-like eyes unblinking. His human disguise had actually improved, aside from the missing contacts – the eyes were at least closer to human-shaped. His hair was still styled in a weird, slicked back poof, but it looked far more natural and less plastic. Even his skin was the right color – a rich, dark brown that could easily pass for human.
Oh, and he had a nose.
A cute, round nose that Dib felt the inexplicable urge to boop.
So he did. The way Zim spluttered at the action pulled a low, deep chuckle from his chest. “Seriously, Zim. Why are you here?” he asked, his lips settling into a smirk. “You couldn’t have possibly missed this ball of dirt that much.”
“Of course not! There are millions of balls of dirt out there just like this one.”

Funky little invader Zim au idea I had:
Due to some lab mishap, Zim loses most of his memories but retains the fact that:
a) He knows Dib to the point he believes they’re friends
b) He has a skin condition
And c) GIR is supposed to look like a robot sometimes despite Zim remembering him being a dog.
Due to the large gaps in his memory, he finds Dib at Skool after wandering around confusedly, and begs his “friend” for help. Dib being awkward and empathetic, resignedly invites Zim to stay at his house until his dad can come back to help them work on a cure.
Personality wise, Zim is very naïve and believes a lot that Dib tells him. Zim also is more curious and open. He acts a lot like a young child I’d imagine.
Dib is still the same, however this takes place years after enter the florpus so I’d say they’re in Hi-Skool at this point, about 14-15 ish, so I’d say they’re more frenemies than anything else.
Anyways, this was just a funky idea. Feel free to write or draw about it. I’d love to see it!

What Invader Zim AU? I don´t have one ◑.◑
I really, really, REALLY don't like how this turned out, but I'm tired of seeing it in my "to finish" list
Either way, so this is set five years after the Florpus and with the color palette that I ended using I guess this qualifies as my spooky drawing for the year

I'm going to share some art of a new IZ AU that will be featured in my game. It takes place a few years after the Florpus incident. Here's the premise:
Invader Zim gets infected with an incredibly rare, uncurable nanovirus. This virus k*lls normal Irkens by eating them from the inside out and destroying the PAK.
However, Zim is not a normal Irken. As a result, the virus affected him much differently. When he had to go back to Irk to be quarantined and monitored, the virus had started to take effect.
Over the course of two weeks, the virus had completely changed Zim's phisogamy. His body became enlongated and he grew three new pairs of legs. He sprouted spikes all over his body (particularly around his PAK). His teeth became sharper, and his body became more chunky/muscular. Worst of all, he developed both types of..."special parts" (yeah, you probably know what I mean). These changes were accompanied by a significant increase in size, which actually made him larger than the rest of his species (~60 feet tall, 200 tons).
The virus not only changed Zim's appearance, it also changed his mindset. Over the course of those two weeks, the data in his PAK was compromised and his way of thinking was reverted to a somewhat primordial state. Though he still had snippets of his personality and intelligence, he gained a newfound desire to survive, consume, and hunt. He became more and more territorial, and would be seen hissing/spewing deterrent gas at anyone who went into his room. Over the two weeks, he fought tooth and nail to keep his sanity as the virus gradually took over.
Over this period, he also gained a couple of new abilities. He gained the ability to willingly spew gas from his mouth. Unlike a typical belch, this gas was produced from a sack in the back of his throat. There were two types of gas he would spew out: the first type was a brownish-orange color and was used to deter attackers. The second type was a yellowish-green color and was used to k*ll potential prey. He also gained the ability to leak toxins from his spikes, bite down with a powerful force, and to detect attackers and prey from long distances.
This new version of Zim was okay for a short while. Other than showing territorial and somewhat aggressive behavior, he didn't really attack anyone. However, the final straw came when he escaped from his quarantine room and devoured one of the scientists that was watching him. They determined that he was too dangerous to keep around and planned to euthanize him. However, he managed to escape and make his way back to Earth...
Back on Earth, this new version of Zim dug a large den near a landfill in typical cave-dwelling fashion. As he lived in this area, he would defend his new home from intruders by hissing and spewing his deterrent gas. He thrived in this manner thanks to his bulk, abilities, and whatever was left of his intellect, feasting on the rotten garbage, composted plants, and occasional prey that inhabited the place. Unfortunately, the smell around the area grew even worse, and it would only be a matter of time before the humans found out and a certain someone showed up....

I hope its okay that ive stolen snazzy-suit's name for this... I wanna go ahead and share my take on the District 9 AU. Oh yeah spoilers for the movie
Irken/child shippers DNI (yes dib is older in this au but z*drs do not fucking interact)
District Doom AU notes under cut:
So its not a perfect parallel of the movie but roughly here are the character parallels: Dib is Wikus (son of Prof. Membrane the founder of PEG labs--"MNU" who's primary goal is researching the aliens for SCIENCE! and Dib desperately wants to be a part of it), Zim is Christopher (former Irken Scientist and lead Invader of his squad in Impending Doom I who were aboard the Massive before catastrophe hit), Gir is Oliver 😊, Skoodge is Paul aka the alien that gets shot early on in the movie but don't worry he's okay now, Gaz is here but idk she's just vibing on her own, oh that assistant guy to Wikus? Uhmm probably gonna be Dwicky or something
After an encounter with a Florpus Hole, the Massive is seriously messed up and finds its way to Earth, hovering over a miserable city, miserably out of fuel with dozens of miserable Irkens aboard. Its systems are horribly damaged so there is no contacting Irk for help.
At the very oldest Dib is 19 and the Irkens have been there for around 20 years, possibly only 15 or so?
Because the Massive's systems are all offline, theres no online PAK charging stations--after about ~20 years, the Irkens with standard issue PAKs are growing weak and dying off (Zim has an Invader's PAK--his charge can last much longer)
The Tallests are there basically in hiding. Purple hates earth donuts.
Dib is put in charge of Operation Eviction, moving the Irkens to a new district further away from the city because they are just so fucking ANNOYING nobody can stand them--while this isn't what he wants, he still goes with it because he hopes to study the aliens up close. It'll be the first time he's been allowed in District D--not just snuck in as a kid and either got kicked out by security or almost blown up
Zim and Skoodge have been collecting fluid from scattered Irken technology for many years, fuel for the Massive so that they may return to Irk and send aid (and also come back and destroy Earth)
Commence chaos and commotion--Dib finds himself with a dead Irken's PAK attached to his chest that is slowly turning him into an Irken. and also he confiscated the fuel which was taken to high security PEG labs
I cant believe they fucking killed skoodge
PEG doesn't have a large focus on alien weaponry like in the movie (they do have some, but studying the aliens and their tech in the name SCIENCE! is their whole deal)
Dib and Zim clash and have to end up working together. Dib is able to get them into PEG labs to get the fuel, Zim can get the PAK safely detached from Dib without killing him and reverse the side effects once they get aboard the Massive. There's a lot more character development and friendship that i just don't have the brain power to work out right now
Unfortunately Prof. Membrane is a bit less redeemable in this au.. hes more antagonistic but I really don't want to fuck my man up too bad cus I really like this guy. Hes not horrible, but he does see whats happening to Dib and wants to study him, reasonably though I think that comes across as very scary to Dib and he freaks out. So not entirely sure why Dib has to run away and seek refuge in District D, but I think he's just scared? Miscommunications with him and Prof. I'll flesh it out later whatever
They go to the Tallests' little hideout and Zim tells them his plan for saving them all.. they think he's crazy but send him and Dib off with some cool gear (probably hoping he'll end up killed or captured by PEG labs).
Zim is outcasted among the stranded Irkens because he's generally assumed to have caused the Florpus hole (yea it was him), but he's been desperately trying to prove himself and make up for it (and hes really the only one with any initiative to save them and return to Irk--everyone else is too stupid, hopeless, or cowardly).
They break in whatever. end up running into Skoodge who's kind of just been chilling in the labs and going through some boring experiments
"Skoodge? I thought the humans killed you" "Yeeeaahh but im okay now"
However, Skoodge exempt(?), there's been some Fucked up tests going on to captured Irkens and Zim is really angry and distraught. Dibs also freaked out--like yea he assumed the scientists were doing scary tests and in fact wanted to perform them, but actually seeing the results and how it effects Zim, and getting to know Zim and the Irkens as people, really snaps him to reality and how messed up what PEG labs is doing
Now this would be the end where Zim takes off in the Massive back to Irk and Dib ends up retreating to District D and ultimately transforming fully into an Irken.. but the au definitely doesn't end here. But I dont have the brain power to think any further. Let's see if District 10 ever really does come out like the directors promised
They get the fluid, escape, Zim gets the control module up and running God DAMMIT who is supposed to be that stupid bald military guy in this. That guy in the movie. Okay there's some guy ill figure it out later.
Zim was gonna just fix Dib up, leave him, and take off for Irk, but after finding out about what PEG labs has been doing with experimenting on his people, he has to use all of the fuel and get help as fast as he can, so Dib is left behind.
Anyway if anybody has any ideas im begging dont hesitate to share 🥺 ive also got a bunch of doodles for this? So if you think I should post them sometime let me know. I need to stop typing because my hands hurt now

I blame you... I blame you so much. I spent the night bingeing your Invader Zim comics and fanfic instead of going to bed. They're all so good! But I need sleep, dammit
Awwwwwwwwww! that makes me so happy!
I'm going to go back to the Post-Florpus au at some point.
It's not really in haitus, moreso it's just taken less priority over my fnaf stuff. I still attempt to get out monthly updates for my patreons, but at the moment the comics are at kinda the "boring part" before it gets to the real meat of the thing.
Basically, the comics being working on right now, are the lead into the GIR-arc, going back full circle to how the series started, and from then on, a few more elements need to be put in place (like why is the fridge broken and why does Zim have a moment of emotional maturity that seems out of character for him to comfort GIR) before the Sibling Arc occurs (which I'm going to redraw) and we'll actually lead into the ZADF of the story, and the final conclusion.
In terms of story structure, we're probably at the mid-way point before the climax, which is ultimately boring to write. (To reiterate, I do not think my writing is dull or boring, I am super proud and love my work. But I think any writer can tell you that there are just some parts of the story that aren't as engaging to WRITE as other parts. Example... Writing the Trail where Zim was forced to see the entirety of his race cheer for his deactivation and coming to the slow realization how much he was hated and wanted to see suffer and force a reality he always knew was GREAT! I loved that and it's still my favorite part of the whole damn au. ....Writing about GIR and Dib talking in the Taco place while Zim just tinkers in his lab after getting his groove back....... Not so much... but the elements need to be put in place so the climax and future events can make sense later.)
Forgive my rambling. I still have a lot of passion for the Post-Florpus AU and it's probably my first long-term fan comic where I actually crafted an ending beforehand. (RIP AKACHOU.... you still don't have an ending after 13 years and multiple haituses ;m; ... it's my old naruto fan comic that's still on deviantart. I plan on coming back to that eventually but the story started when I was a teenager and knew little about how story structure worked so a lot of the humor is very 2009 in some places. I will go back to that probably...eventually. Maybe. But I don't think anyone cares about my old Naruto content) So I'm really excited to get into future installments.
It's just breaking that glass ceiling of a few reveals and not-that-interesting plot elements that's brining my drawing to a snail's pace right now... leading to me diverting my time into more interesting projects... Like the origins of animatronics that kill children and people. XD
Thank you for loving my Invader Zim stuff and I PROMISE it's not over.

Fic Rec Friday- Halloween
This is the first of my special event fic recs, with unlucky number 13. Since it’s Halloween, here’s some of my favorite Halloween/horror/dark fics.
Welcome To Spookyville!
Disney Cartoons

Bendy and the Ink Machine
Completed Work
An aftermath piece of BATIM written by @star-going-supernova, where Henry and the toons deal with what remains of the studio that lingers in Henry over the course of Halloween.
As Lightning to the Children eased
Star Wars
CW: Body horror, blood
Written by @jasontoddiefor, this AU piece details how terrifying Anakin, as a half-mortal child, should’ve been. Shmi Skywalker lives and there is cute young Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka interactions tinged with possessiveness.
I'm lost and I'm found
Coco
CW: Body horror, blood
This is a collection of oneshots, where Ernesto ends up slipping Hector a potion that forces him into the shape of a wolf. Imelda is a BAMF, as usual, and saves him with the power of clothes.

FNAF
Completed Work
CW: Blood, mentioned death, injury
Written by @pyroweasel, this is the third complete fic in their Family’s What You Make It series and details the events of Help Wanted through the lenses of Michael Afton’s adopted daughter Ness. Personally, this has a much darker feel to it then the other two before it, due to Malhare’s personality and Ness wasting away under his influence. If you prefer fluff, Dreaming of Electric Rabbits details the adventures of little Ness and her plush friend.
Hive-Minded
Miraculous
Written by @nobodyfamousposts, an odd akuma spreads through Ms. Bustier’s class. Soon, Marinette finds herself alone in trying to escape. But then the one person she didn’t want to find in this state goes looking for her.
Twisted Falls
Gravity Falls
CW: Blood
Written and rewritten by @ibelieveinahappilyeverafter, this is an au where the secrets of Gravity Falls are deeper, the Pines twins are much darker, and Bill is there from the beginning. One question is important overall: what kind of games do demons play?

Invader Zim Space Explorers AU
(Hello! This is my Invader Zim AU that I’ve finally gathered enough confidence to post. This AU is very self indulgent and open ended, but maybe it’ll make some of y’all happy as well. I wish I knew sooner that there are similar AUs to this one, however I hope to make this AU as original as possible and really make it my own. Established ZaDf and maybe potential ZaDr? Anyway, let’s get on with it.)
The Summary:
After the whole Enter the Florpus fiasco... nothing much changes for a while. Dib and Zim continue to fight, Zim continues to try to take over the Earth... however, Zim is now unable to get in touch with the Tallest, possibly because they’re still in the dreaded Florpus hole. During this time, Dib over time is able to piece together that Zim is basically a reject from his own planet, and has been exiled under the guise that he’s been given the title of an invader. Zim figures this out soon after, but is in obvious denial of it.
After these realizations, Zim and Dib begin to fight less. In fact, they start talking a lot more. They sit together at lunch a lot. Dib’s attempts at exposing Zim lessen, as well as Zim’s nefarious plans to take over the Earth. Dib even sometimes invites Zim over to his house. After a few attempts, Zim accepts the invitation, much to Dib’s surprise. They often play video games together, Gaz even sometimes joins in. Dib and Zim have went cryptid hunting a few times. At one point, Zim allowed Dib to enter his base (after making sure Dib had no way to take pictures, of course.) GIR was overjoyed.
After they both graduate from high skool, Dib explains to Zim that he has no plans to go to college, much to his father’s dismay. He basically has no plans for the future, besides maybe becoming a cryptozoologist. Zim, in a sudden moment of faith, admits to Dib that he really has nowhere to go, and is in the same boat. That’s when they both agree to leave Earth and explore the depths of space.
The two of them have no one final destination in mind. They travel through different galaxies, making and meeting both friends and enemies along the way. To keep supplies fresh, they often stop at intelligent alien planets, and take different quests and missions (although this doesn’t always go well, Zim being an Irken and all). They’ve had some near death experiences, but have so far thankfully avoided death. Of course, they haven’t completely abandoned Earth. Once a month they’ll return to spend a day or two with Gaz at home, and check up on Zim’s base.
So... what about the Irken Empire? Well, that’s a big unknown right now. Zim can’t establish a connection with the tallest, and both Zim and Dib aren’t planning on paying Irk a visit anytime soon. They can only pick up clues that have been learned by other alien species. All they’ve heard so far is that the Irken Empire is currently having a moment of weakness, and that the Resisty has been becoming more powerful... perhaps Dib and Zim will discover more in the future.
What of Professor Membrane and Gaz? Well, Membrane has been trying to work on becoming a better father, but has been just as busy in his lab. He does his best to visit his kids whenever he (very rarely) has free time, and always tries to visit on major holidays. Gaz is pretty much in charge of the house now, though Membrane sends her money to keep the lights working and such. Gaz has now upgraded her Game Slave to even better consoles, and regularly competes in competitive video game competitions, where she usually absolutely decimates her opponents. When she’s not busy with a tournament, she’ll sometimes join Dib and Zim’s space adventures (albeit for a shorter amount of time).
*****
If you’ve made it all the way down here or even read a part of this, thank you so much! I would absolutely love to know what you think of it, or even how I could make it better. Literally any comments/questions/asks/additions are highly appreciated!
*****
Some additional details that vary in importance:
Zim is still technically loyal to the Irken Empire, and finds himself angered hearing about the Resisty. Dib, on the other hand, super doesn’t mind
Dib has a bit of a messiah complex, which was built from feeling like he was the only person that could protect Earth from Zim
Zim and Dib very often get into arguments and fights (that’ll never change) but they’re never apart for too long
Zim becomes a bit more emotionally literate
Zim sometimes even allows Dib to pilot the Voot... not for long, though
Dib is in his 20s
Dib has had a few life-threatening scuffles. Thanks to Irken medicine, he doesn’t have too many scars, however his most noticeable one would be a rather large skin graft on his left forearm. Zim has offered to reduce its appearance, however Dib feels it’s pretty badass
Do NOT separate them, unless you want a PAK leg through the skull
Zim has taught Dib a few words and some basic phrases in Irken, as well as some other common alien languages
Zim, mainly noticing that Dib is becoming older and his appearance is changing, has worried many times about Dib’s weak, fleshy human skin and his laughable lifespan. Perhaps... there could be something Zim could do about this...

IZ week 2020
so i wasn’t gonna do this because I didn’t think the prompts were very good for writing to, but I remembered the last day’s prompt was “role swap” so I decided to do something small and quick for it. this is all 7 days in one post. the first and last ones are drabbles and one of them is an au idea
@invader-zim-week here u go!!!
Day 1. Angst or Fluff
Zim’s denial skills are god tier, but even they have their limits.
Drabble. I think this is the turning point for my eventual found family au
“When are you going to get it through your thick head that the Tallests aren’t coming?” Dib flings his arms out wide in his exasperation
“They’re just…!” Zim fumbles a bit, clenching and unclenching his fists. “The Armada is a million light years away! It takes time to travel that far, obviously. It took me six of your months to get here from Conventia and the Massive is further away from here now than that. They’ll come! You’ll see! And then you’ll be sorry!” Zim’s face is drawn tight. He’s tense all over, shoulders drawn up to his jaw, antennae pressed flat to his head, and normally Dib prides himself on reading Zim like an open book, but he’s too far gone in his own annoyance to see the warning signs.
It’s because he doesn’t see these red flags that Dib proceeds to stick his own foot in his mouth with his next words. “Maybe if you weren’t such an idiot and opened your eyes, you’d see the truth—that they dumped you here to get rid of you.”
“YOU THINK I DON’T KNOW THAT?” Zim explodes, planting his tiny hands in Dib’s chest and shoving. The boy lands painfully on his ass. “I’m not stupid, Dib.” His name is spat like an insult. “I know they don’t care about me! Why do you think I try so hard?”
Dib gapes at Zim, looking up at him for once, stunned into silence. “I.” He swallows. “You know?”
“Of course, I know.” Zim’s voice is a low hiss and his eyes are narrowed to slits. “You don’t get banished and then just get over it. You don’t get put on trial to defend your life, forced to relive your worse mistakes, and get sentenced to death, only to be saved by freak miracle, and never acknowledge it happened.” Zim takes a deep breath and crosses his arms over his chest. Dib supposes he means for it to look intimidating, but it looks more like he’s holding himself together. “I’ve always known.”
“Why do you try so hard then? If you’ve always known there was no point?” Dib has to ask, has to know, has to hear the words from Zim’s own mouth.
Zim purses his lips and turns away. “There was always a point.” He falls silent for a moment, one antenna twitching up a bit in thought. “I just… I thought if I was just a little better, if I accomplished something important for once, that… I don’t know, that maybe I’d.” He pauses and grits his teeth. “Maybe if I actually managed to take over this filthy planet I’d be worth something for once.”
Day 2. Be Gay Do Crime (LGBTQA+ headcannons)
Dib is bi/pan/demi-ro, Gaz is lesbian, Zim is ace/demi-ro
Headcanons.
Dib seems like the kind of guy that would both take whatever kind of relationship he could get, but also appreciate it. Dib isn’t afraid to work for what he wants and isn’t afraid of things that are “not normal” so I see him being the type to not care about the gender of whoever he eventually decides to date. However, because Dib’s been burned in the past, he would need a deep and sincere emotional relationship to see someone as a potential romantic partner.
Gaz is just a big lesbian. Girls, man.
Zim is ace all the way baby!!! He’s just not interested, and sure, part of that is me projecting, but it just feels right for Zim to just… not care. He has no interest and doesn’t care for sexual attraction regardless of whether or not Irkens do/can/will have sex or not. On the other hand, Zim has expressed a softer side before and I can see him being able to maybe eventually develop romantic feelings for someone if he actually manages to get close enough to them for those kinds of feelings to even emerge. It would take a lot of time and a deep, meaningful friendship, but Zim has shown he’s capable of love. He just has to let himself feel it.
  Day 3. Fandom Appreciation
Found family fuck yeah
Headcanons.
I’m still in the process of thinking about how I wanna go about my found family au so here’s just some initial ideas
After ETF, Zim self isolates for a bit. The florpus hole was his Last Ditch Effort plan and had it succeeded, he knew he would have been destroyed too. He was okay with it. He had made peace with it. However, it failed, and now he’s forced to reflect on said failure
The Massive doesn’t escape the florpus. They’re gone, completely. If they the ship does manage to get out, it’s not in one piece
I initially couldn’t decide if The Trial should come Before ETF or After but I think im gonna say before so the Massive doesn’t have to come back lmao
Before too long, Zim jumps back into the planning/scheming swing of things, but his ideas are never more than petty crimes and being a huge annoyance
Dib gets really annoyed with him and they have a big argument
Zim finally admits to knowing of his own Defectiveness
Dib reluctantly feels bad for him and backs off a bit to let Zim have his space
Zim, however, sees this as a betrayal and redoubles his efforts to get his attention
Somewhere along the way, Skoodge comes back and Zim backs off of Dib a bit, having someone else to focus attention on
Dib eventually begins to offer Zim his hand in friendship (phrased as a truce at first) and they finally make steps towards getting along
They realize they actually really like being friends
Zim eventually realizes that he’s made a life for himself, outside of the Empire
Eventually Zim, Skoodge, GIR, Minimoose, Dib, and Gaz form their own little family and explore space and hunt cryptids
(I love cryptid hunter and space exploration aus holy shit)
Day 4. If IZ had a different setting/time period
Cyberpunk??? Sure
Potential idea maybe.
Cyberpunk dystopian future
Aliens and humans intermingle, both on and off Earth
The Irken Empire has gotten bigger
Technology is advanced and cybernetics are widely known/produced
Idk man I don’t know a lot about cyberpunk, maybe this should be more for the aesthetic
Day 5. Aesthetic
Big shrug man idk
Headcanons, thoughts.
I’m a big fan of fashion Zim, and whenever I get the chance I give him clothes that are both cute and comfortable
Galaxy print leggings are a personal favorite of mine to give him
One time I wrote a little ficlet/oneshot where he wore a skirt. I should publish that some day
Uhhhhhh okay so. Dib has veeeeeery big early 2000s emo/punk vibes tbh
Scene kid GIR always makes me laugh
Gaz could pull off pastel goth like no one’s business
I’ve been here long enough to witness emo/scene hair wig Zim and his eventual fall lmfao
Pretty much everyone that redesigned them back in the day gave Zim emo kid hair that fall perfectly over one eye it was WILD
Day 6. What if IZ was a different Genre?
Uhhhh does “fantasy instead of scifi” count?
Potential idea maybe. (oops it ended up being a fantasy/modern magic au haha ooooops)
Instead of being an alien, I had the idea of, maybeeeeee Irkens are like. Elves maybe, or perhaps some kind of fae. (I don’t know much about fae, oops)
Okay bear with me here, this is all coming together in real time.
The Irkens (which is what I’m gonna call their clan or faction or subrace or whatever) still want to be the rulers or something over the humans/other mystical beings. This world of magic is hidden from humans and they live blissfully unaware. There are invaders all over the place, using magic and glamors to trick humans into thinking they’re also humans. Zim is one such invader and just to happens to end up in Dib’s town, whereupon he enrolls in Dib’s school, pretending to be a transfer student.
I have no idea why or how the Irkens invade or what methods they use, but since my biggest experience with elves is through DND, I’m going to say they’re functionally similar to certain DND elf races.
So anyway, Zim ends up in Dib’s class and Zim’s glamor just Doesn’t Work on Dib for whatever reason (maybe Dib passed his Wisdom saving throw while literally everyone else failed, idk) and so Dib can immediately see Zim for what he is.
Dib is still into paranormal type stuff, though in his world, he’s less about cryptids and aliens and more about the magical species/world(s) that he KNOWS exists. His big goal in his au is similar to canon in that he wants to expose it all for recognition and love from his father.
Zim, meanwhile, he just wants to prove himself, just like canon. I can’t decide how I want the Irken hierarchy to go in this au—that’s something to think about later, when I have more time—but whatever it is, Zim is either a) not very good at it, b) not suited for it, c) ridiculed for not fitting in to it, or d) a combination of any or all of these things. (or secret option e) he rejects it but has no where else to go. On the other hand, it maybe be none of these things.)
GIR is here too though he’s probably not a robot. Maybe he’s another kind of magical being, or, hell, maybe he’s just Zim’s little brother. I’d be okay with that.
Gaz can also see through glamors but she just doesn’t care. Tak shows up at some point to get revenge, and Skoodge also shows up at some point to stay with Zim and be his friend.
Zim is bad at blending in at first, but he eventually Does get better, since he’s not totally isolated from other Irkens here and he also doesn’t Look like an alien.
(I’m thinkin’ elves in this au look Mostly human but with a few differences. Since I’m biased and this is MY fantasy world, damnit, elves are just. Really Pretty. Ethereal and elegant and graceful (for the most part—there are always exceptions) and they’re also great at magic. Maybe Zim isn’t all that great at magic, I dunno. I’ll figure something out.)
This ended up being less of a genre change and more of a whole ass au, lol oops
Day 7. Role swap
Chanting: human zim au human zim au human zim au human zi
Drabble. This is for an ongoing species swap au that i’ve had in development for the last few years. i haven’t posted anything for it yet, but I’ve thought about it a lot
Dib freezes as Zim points the plastic water gun at his head. Zim’s eyes are narrowed, lips pursed, and he adjusts his grip almost nervously. Behind him, Gir is holding a bucket full of water balloons and a pair of neon green star shaped sunglasses. It’d be cute if Dib wasn’t aware of how painful Earth water is to his Irken skin.
Zim finally lowers his gun slightly. “I want some answers, alien.” He looks Dib over with critical eyes. “Who are you really, and why are you here?” He reaches back and Gir hands him a water balloon with a big smile. “And you better tell the truth or I’ll bust this over your big head.”
Dib grimaces and watches the balloon. “My name Dib, and I’m a scientist. I’m an Irken, from Irk, and I’m here to learn more about life on this planet.” He holds his hands up, hoping to placate the human gesture for surrender. “I’m not here to harm you or anyone else, promise.”
Zim huffs. “Yeah right. I bet you just came here to laugh at the locals.” He puts on a mocking voice and waves the gun and balloon as he speaks. “‘Stupid, stinking humans. They can’t even travel beyond their own moon, yet. What morons. I bet they descended from pigs with how horrible and stupid they are.’” He jams the gun against Dib’s chest. “Tell me I’m wrong.”
Dib bites his lower lip and looks away. He can’t deny he hasn’t thought something similar since arriving on Earth, but Zim didn’t have to be so crude and blunt about it.
The two are at a standoff for almost a minute before Zim blows out a long sigh and steps back. He turns to put the balloon back in the bucket, gives Gir a pat on the head, and shoots Dib one last glare. “Stay away from me, Dib. I have enough problems to deal with without having to worry about whether or not it’s safe for my brother to go to school or if I need to watch my back while walking my dog.”
“I wouldn’t hurt you,” Dib says, a little put out.
Zim scoffs and rolls his eyes. “Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. I know better than to believe it.” He turns and tries to smile at Gir but it comes out a little twisted and sad. “C’mon Gir. Let’s go home and get Minimoose and take him to that dog park you like so much.”
Gir gasps and lets out a cheer. “Can we go get ice cream afterwards?”
Zim gives a little laugh, smile turning a bit more genuine. “Yeah, sounds good.”
As they walk away Dib can’t help but wonder why he ever thought Zim was an Irken himself.
