How to consume: Drink three times a day. In the morning, afternoon, and evening. Once drink as much as 150 ml.

Ingredients: 30 g fresh tapak dara leaves (Catharanthus roseus) 10 g dry or 30 g fresh daun sendok (Plantago major) 70 g of fresh aloe vera leaf flesh 10 g dry or 30 g fresh sambiloto plant (Andrographis paniculata) 10 g dry or 30 g fresh putri malu (Mimosa pudica) 10 g dry or 30 g fresh tempuyung (Sonchus arvensis)

How to make: Wash all the ingredients, then poach in one liter of water until the remaining half. Remove, strain. How to consume: Drink three times a day. In the morning, afternoon, and evening. Once drink as much as 150 ml.

           เดื่อหว้า หรือที่ชาวฮินดูเรียกว่า จามาน หรือ จามูน ชื่อภาษาอังกฤษคือ จัมโบลาน (Jambolan) มีมากทั้งในอินเดีย พม่า ไทย มาเลเซีย ตลอดจนฟิลิปปินส์ สมัยพุทธกาลเรียกดินแดนแถบประเทศอินเดียว่า ชมพูทวีป ซึ่ง ชมพู หมายถึง ไม้หว้า ชมพูทวีปคือ ดินแดนแห่งไม้หว้า ปีไหนลูกหว้าออกลูกดก แสดงว่าปีนั้นฝนดี ปีไหนลูกหว้าไม่ดก แสดงว่าปีนั้นแล้ง คนอินเดียจึงใช้ “ต้นหว้า” ในการพยากรณ์ฝนฟ้าเรื่องการเพาะปลูกมาแต่ครั้งพุทธกาล

ลักษณะของเดื่อหว้า

           ต้นเดื่อหว้า จัดเป็นไม้ยืนต้นเนื้ออ่อนขนาดเล็ก มีความสูงได้ประมาณ 3-5 เมตร หรืออาจสูงได้ถึง 10-15 เมตร แตกกิ่งก้านสาขามาก เปลือกต้นเป็นสีเทาปนน้ำตาล มีน้ำยางสีขาว ลำต้นเห็นแผลของก้านใบที่ร่วงชัดเจน พบขึ้นตามป่าผสมผลัดใบ ป่าดิบแล้ง ใกล้ลำธาร ในต่างประเทศพบกระจายพันธุ์ในปากีสถาน อินเดียตอนเหนือ เนปาล ภูฏาน สิกขิม พม่า จีนตอนใต้ ลาว กัมพูชา เวียดนาม และมาเลเซีย ส่วนในประเทศไทยพบได้ทุกภาค ยกเว้นทางภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ โดยมักพบขึ้นตามป่าดิบ ป่าเบญจพรรณ ป่าผลัดใบ ป่าดิบแล้ง ใกล้ลำธารหรือริมลำน้ำ ที่ระดับความสูงตั้งแต่ 0-1,300 เมตร เหนือระดับน้ำทะเล

           ใบเดื่อหว้า ใบเป็นใบเดี่ยว ออกเรียงสลับเป็นกระจุกที่ปลายยอด ลักษณะของใบเป็นรูปไข่กว้างหรือรูปหัวใจ ปลายใบแหลมหรือมน โคนใบมน ส่วนขอบใบเรียบหรือหยักเป็นฟันเลื่อยห่าง ๆ ใบมีขนาดกว้างประมาณ 12-18 เซนติเมตร และยาวประมาณ 18-25 เซนติเมตร ผิวใบเกลี้ยงทั้งสองด้าน เนื้อใบเหนียวหนาคล้ายแผ่นหนัง ก้านใบยาวประมาณ 3-6 เซนติเมตร ผิวเกลี้ยง ดอกเดื่อหว้า ออกดอกเป็นช่อ เกิดภายในฐานรองดอกที่รูปร่างคล้ายผล ดอกเป็นแบบแยกเพศอยู่ในช่อเดียวกัน ออกที่ลำต้น

           ผลเดื่อหว้า ผลเป็นผลสด เกิดเป็นกระจุกตามลำต้นหรือกิ่งขนาดใหญ่ ลักษณะของผลเป็นรูปกลมแบนและมีกลีบเลี้ยงสีน้ำตาลติดอยู่ ผิวผลเกลี้ยงหรืออาจมีขนสั้นนุ่มขึ้นปกคลุม มักมีสันตามยาวและมีรอยแผลใบประดับข้าง ผลมีขนาดตามขวางตอนสดประมาณ 3.5-4.5 เซนติเมตร ผลเป็นสีเขียว เมื่อสุกจะเปลี่ยนเป็นสีส้มแกมแดง ก้านผลยาวประมาณ 4-5 เซนติเมตร

สรรพคุณของเดื่อหว้า

           ตำรายาพื้นบ้านล้านนาจะใช้ผลเดื่อหว้าประมาณครึ่งผล นำมากินเป็นยาแก้ท้องเสีย (ผล) เปลือกต้นหรือรากเดื่อหว้า ใช้ผสมกับรากเจตพังคี รากเจตมูลเพลิงแดง รากละหุ่งแดง รากมหาก่าน รากหิ่งเม่น รากหิงหายผี ต้นพิศนาด หัวกระชาย เหง้าว่านน้ำ ผลยี่หร่า เมล็ดพริกไทย เมล็ดเทียนดำหลวง วุ้นว่านหางจระเข้ และเทียนทั้งห้า อย่างละเท่ากัน แล้วนำมาบดให้เป็นผง ผสมกับน้ำมะนาวและเกลือเล็กน้อย ใช้กินกับน้ำมะนาวเป็นยารักษาโรคทางเดินปัสสาวะ (เปลือกต้น, ราก)

Pictured is one of the most exotic fruits in the world! Yes the world. I bet you only a handful of you know what this is. Ok Ok it’s called Malabar Plum, Or Java Plum, or Black Plum or Jamun or Jambolan. It’s a tropical fruit and my favorite. When I was young living in Africa, we used to climb large trees to pick this fruit. So last weekend Ro and I were at an Indian market in NJ in search for Fresh Custard Item when the regular vendor told me about the arrival of Purée of this fruit. Mind you it’s not cheap but at least it’s available. We have seen this fruit growing in the West Palm Beach and Caribbean Island too.! So you guessed it - we just made some Jambu Ice Cream.
