My Idiot (Jay Kelso x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is Hyde’s daughter and staying with the Formans while he’s in jail, the new generation has a sleepover at the Forman’s house and there’s only one bed for Jay and (Y/N)… Note: Jaya (JayxLeia) does not exist in this imagine
Word count: 1k
“Okay you guys,” Leia said with a deep breath, “Grandma and grandpa actually said you guys can stay the night, so we can’t screw this up. I’m staying in my dad’s old room and (Y/N) is staying in Aunt Laurie’s old room, as usual. Can you guys all find somewhere to sleep in the basement?”
“Sounds good to me,” Ozzie popped up.
“Nikki and I can take the couch,” Nate said.
“Yeah, that should work,” Gwen added, “it just sucks that Jay isn’t here.”
You nodded half heartedly. Your best friend - and crush - Jay Kelso was working a long night shift at the video store, and you were bummed that he was missing your first (and probably only, considering how Red Forman was) sleepover with the gang.
Almost like clockwork, the basement door opened.
“Hey guys!” A familiar voice spoke up. Jay’s voice. “They let me off early,” he said as his eyes briefly floated to where you were sitting on the floor, then shyly finding their way back to the rest of the group.
“Well shit,” Leia sighed, “I mean, we’re glad you’re here! But Red let us have a sleepover for once, and I don’t think there will be enough room in the basement for you…”
“Well that’s not convenient,” Jay said with a flat face, sheepishly sitting down next to you.
“Hold on you guys, I’ll be right back. I don’t imagine in a thousand years my grandpa would let you stay in my room, but I have a couch and (Y/N) doesn’t, and I don’t want to make her offer her bed to you if she isn’t okay with it.”
You shifted awkwardly, silently hoping you could share your bed with Jay. “I mean, I wouldn’t mind if we have to…” you trailed on quietly, Jay looking at you shyly, his cheeks noticeably heating up.
The rest of the group hadn’t heard you but Jay had sitting so close to you. “You sure?” he asked and you nodded, lacking the courage to look at him.
Leia ran upstairs and it only took a few seconds before you heard the booming sound of Red yelling.
“If that boy goes even close to your bedroom, my foot is going even closer to up his ass! Absolutely not!”
Leia hurried down the stairs with a defeated look on her face. “So that’s a no go. (Y/N), are you sure you’re ok with sharing a bed with Jay?”
You shrugged, now bright red. “Yeah, sure, I don’t mind.”
The seven of you spent the rest of the night together, laughing, watching My So Called Life, and getting high, before finally around midnight you all started to crash.
“Should we call it a night, you guys?” you asked through a yawn, anxious to spend the night with Jay.
“Sounds good to me.”
“Yep.”
“I’m tired.”
“Well, goodnight you guys,” Leia spoke, “see you all in the morning.” With that you, Leia, and Jay stumbled your way upstairs while the others stayed in the basement getting comfy.
You quickly brushed your teeth and got cleaned up for bed, putting on your favorite lacy nightgown, your heart beating out of your chest before you heard your name called from downstairs.
“Y/N! I need to talk to you!”
Shit. It was Red.
You made your way down the stairs, feigning sobriety, into the Forman living room.
“Yes Mr. Forman?”
“Sit down.”
“You know (Y/N), I remember your father sitting on this exact same couch when he was your age. He was a good kid, even with all the dope he did. He was nice to people.” Red sighed, “I remember that boy’s father too, and how he used to fool around with young girls like you, even my own daughter.”
“But Jay isn’t like-“
“I know, I know, that kid hardly knows his own father. But as you’ve been staying with Kitty and I, you’ve become like another grandkid to us. I always feared I’d be raising Steven’s kids…” he grumbled. “No funny business in there, okay? You’re better than to be screwing a Kelso. I know you think no one’s caught onto your little crush on this boy, but I’ve seen these things before. And if he so much as lays a finger on you, my foot will go so far up his ass he won’t even be able to feel his fingers!”
“We’ll be good,” you smiled, rolling your eyes. “Now goodnight.”
“Goodnight (Y/N).”
You hurried back up the stairs to find Jay already all cozied up in your bed.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
His eyes scanned your body in awe and he hid a smile as you made your way into bed.
You both squirmed awkwardly for a little while, not talking, not looking at each other, and especially not touching.
“I’m sorry (Y/N), I’ll try to let you sleep. I know you didn’t really want me in here…”
“Wh-what do you mean?”
“I could tell you were uncomfortable in the basement and just trying to be nice. I can sleep in the living room if you wa-“
You shut him up by kissing him, to his surprise. Jay closed his eyes and let himself melt into the kiss. It was slow and sweet, innocent, loving.
“Of course I want you here. I was nervous because I have a crush on you, doofus.”
“Well you could’ve just said that,” he laughed. “But, uh, I’m glad you didn’t. I have a crush on you too. Have for a while,” he smirked, kissing you again.
You laughed as the kiss ended, rubbing noses together. “Go to bed, idiot.”
He cuddled his way into you, pulling you in by your waist and spooning you, nuzzling his face into your neck. “I may be an idiot, but I’m your idiot.”
You smiled, cheeks turning a baby pink, still not sure if this was all really happening. “Yeah, Jay, you’re my idiot.”

You know, logically, that ten feet is nothing compared to the three-hundred foot block you just walked in the sweltering heat. But looking down at that distance, from a slanted roof and the hard ground at your feet…
Well. That changes a few things.
Jay broke his arm over the weekend trying to do some crazy stunt off a cliff. It was supposed to be a fun date — a picnic setup by the edge, overlooking the water, and a boom box stereo blaring your favorite songs. It was supposed to be great. And it was great, until it wasn’t.
In hindsight, you really shouldn’t have taken him to that spot, but the summer heat had limited your options. Going to a park didn’t sound so appealing when the sun could bore holes into your clothes, the woods would have had mosquitoes feasting on you two within seconds, and the community pool would have been too crowded on a day like that.
So what better plan than to have that date on a quiet, secluded, cool cliff side?
So what better plan than to have that date on a quiet, secluded, cool cliff side?
You didn’t think your boyfriend, even with his flair of dramatics, would land you in the ER by the end of it. But, hey. Like he said, “At least this isn’t a date we’ll forget.”
It was memorable, that’s for sure. If only it hadn’t gotten you two banned from seeing each other for the next week. Well, that was a bit of a stretch. You believe their exact words were, “Jay, you’re not allowed to leave the house for the next week.” It wasn’t a punishment, per se. More of a “valuable life lesson,” Jackie called it. She, Micheal, and Jay looked a little horrified as she’d said it. You guessed this didn’t happen very often.
Jay was, for lack of a better term, grounded. You think it’s really just to keep him from straining his arm — or worse, breaking the other one — so you respected his parents’ wishes. Jay, you’re not allowed to leave the house for the next week. At no point did you hear that you couldn’t come over.
So, here you are, sneaking into his bedroom window. Aren’t you just the epitome of romance? It would be a whole lot more romantic if you didn’t slip off the roof and die.
“Jay,” you whisper, tapping his window. The urgency in your voice, or maybe just hearing your voice at all, forced him upright. It’s not too late but being grounded left him with nothing to do. No TV, no computer, no Nate, and no girlfriend. The horror. You guess he opted in for sleeping early. The light of his bedside table keeps the room dimly lit and you can just make out the silhouette of him. He turns in bed, surprised.
“Y/N?” You watch him kick the covers off, his arm still wrapped in a sling. He seems to have forgotten with all the excitement because he winces when he opens the window with his uninjured arm like he’d tried to use it too.
“Easy, tiger.” It strays from your long list of nicknames, but Jay doesn’t seem to mind. He’s got that grin that makes the world slow, like you’ve got all the time in the universe and you’re lucky enough to spend it with him. Granted, it’s the same look he gave you right before he jumped off that cliff and did that incredibly stupid flip, but you’re very much in love with him. That comes with a pass, doesn’t it?
You’ve barely made it halfway through the window when he pulls you in for a kiss. You can feel him smile into it.
“Your parents must hate me if they’re keeping me away from this,” you whisper, savoring the moment.
“My parents love you,” he says obliviously. He seems a little dazed, a little slow to pick up on the humor in your tone.
“Yeah, they do,” you admit. “It’s still not fair. I missed you.”
“How do you think I feel?”
“Wanna tell me about it?”
“You know I’m not too good with words.”
“Show me, then.”
He pulls you away from the window, going in for another kiss. But then he notices the way you visibly relax the further away you are from the window.
“You took me to a cliff. Don’t tell me you’re scared of heights.” He’s teasing, but there’s genuine curiosity in his voice.
“I’m scared of giving your parents a reason to hate me. We’re basically on probation, Jay.”
“See? This is why they love you. You actually care about their rules.” He plants a kiss on your cheek.
“You don’t?”
“What can I say? I’m a rebel at heart.”
You have to laugh a little. He sounds so smug, so genuinely confident in that statement. You almost don’t want to ruin it. Almost.
“You don’t think so?”
“No, you definitely have a rebellious streak. It’s just… don’t you think there are better words to describe you?”
“Oh yeah? Like what?” His tone sounds suggestive, expecting some sort of praise you refuse to give him just yet.
“Well, personally, I think ‘princess’ suits you better than ‘rebel.’”
“Princess?”
“Locked up in your tower, your knight in shining armor coming to save you… I’d say it fits.” You’re kneeling on his bed, fingers running through his hair while his hand taps an absentminded beat against your waist.
“Oh, you think you’re the knight?” he asks, challenging you. There’s a glint of mischief in his eyes, visible even in the dark.
“I’m here to save you from boredom, aren’t I?” You don’t mention that saving him from boredom conveniently satisfies your boredom too. He figures it out, anyway.
“Hm, are we sure it’s not the other way around?”
“Nope. I don’t think so.” You shake your head, face determined to keep this joke up. “But, you know, if I was wrong in assuming that you missed me, I can leave. I wouldn’t want to intrude on your alone ti—“
“No!” You start to turn around, heading for the window. His arm instinctively reaches to stop you, but not before he practically yells for you. It forces you to turn back, eyes wide, slapping a hand over his mouth to muffle whatever else he was trying to say. You shush him, listening for the creak of a door or incoming footsteps.
When you’re sure nobody had heard, you throw a punch at his shoulder.
“They could have heard you!” You were half whispering and yelling, careful not to raise your voice but eager to get him to comply. It’s nothing serious. There’s more thrill to your voice than anxiousness.
“You were going to leave!”
“Buttercup, I was just messing with you.” You hold his face in your hands, squeezing his cheeks as he rolls his eyes. There’s a childishness about him, about what you two have, that heals something in you. Like a long-forgotten memory where all that’s left is the way it makes you feel. And, damn it, nobody’s ever made you feel like this.
“You’re so funny. How about we don’t do it again?” He squeezes your wrist but doesn’t try to pry you off. If anything, he seems to want to keep you right where you are.
“Whatever you say, princess.” He groans.
“Oh, no. Is that gonna stick?”
“Only if you want it to. I’m your knight, aren’t I? I think obeying royalty is in my job description.” He smiles, not entirely unhappy with the prospect of that idea.
“Well, when you put it like that…” It makes you laugh, how easily he warms to the thought.
“Like I said, you make a very convincing princess. Pretty face, pretty hair. Rapunzel’s got nothing on you.” You sit beside him, pushing tousled hair from his eyes and watching the corners of his mouth turn to a smile. He leans into your touch, broken arms and summer heat forgotten.
You take note that he doesn’t make any effort to protest after that.

Tumblr media
It was just a normal day in Point Place Wisconsin. Jay Kelso was with his girlfriend and their friends as they were listening to Nate.
"Man, you're such a dillhole!" Y/n exclaimed from Jay's lap.
"I am not! I mean, c'mon, dude. you can't seriously think that breakfast club is better than Teen Wolf!" (The Michael J. Fox one).
Everyone groans as the two teenagers continued their argument.
"Leia. You agree with me, right?" The young Foreman stammered as she plugged her fingers in her ears.
"I CANT HEAR ANYTHING! LALALA!" Y/n rolls her eyes at the child.
"Babe?" Jay quickly got up from the couch and ran upstairs.
"You wusse!" Y/n shouted from her seat.
"Alright, fine. Their is only one way to settle this." The room went silent as y/n held a smirk on her lips.
Time skip...
They ended up watching both movies. Towards the scene of the movie where Molly Wringwald had sushi, y/n's stomach began to churn. She quickly gets up from Jay's lap as she finds her to wait to the shower in the basement.
"Woah, baby." Jay was quickly at her side holding back her hair as she hurled.
"I'm fine." She promised.
"You've been puking the last three weeks!" Gwen quickly rushed to my side as she feels my forehead.
"What the hell are you doing?" I swat her hand off of me.
"Did you get bit by a zombie? I mean, in most movies, or shows, man, you get bit you puke." Nate comments.
"No!"
"Maybe the Chinese from last night?"
"No! No!"
"Maybe-"
"I'm pregnant, damn it."
The room went silent. Jay Kelso was in utter shock.
"You knocked her up!" Leia was the first to break the silence.
"I thought-' y/n shakes her head.
"We did. But, sometimes, it doesn't always save you." Y/n bites her bottom lip.
"I can't believe it!" Jay exclaimed, throwing the smaller girl into his arms.
"You're not mad?" Jay shakes his head.
"Why would I be mad? It takes two to have a baby." Jay leans forward and plants his lips against yours.
"Party time!" Gwen exclaimed, as she went towards the radio and play some rock music.
The gang all danced as they were celebrating a new Kelso to the family.
A/n: I hope this was okay, I know it's be a little short, but let me know what you think.

Tumblr media
The loud bang of the door shutting behind you was definitely not ignored by anyone in the basement. Your body plopping onto the couch, the audible groan escaping your lips as the trio look between each other, contemplating who should say something.
Huffing while lowering the magazine he was holding, “Is this the part I’m supposed to ask what is wrong?” Ozzie’s voice says to your left.
Your eyes scan the ceiling, head tilting towards him before answering, “Yes.” The whine in your tone was soft, even making your own heart break a little.
Gwen makes her way to you, her body pushing the rough fabric down, her arm resting on the back of the couch, “What’s up?”
“I have a date with Tommy Horn tomorrow.” The whine is still noticeable. The room losing tension at your not-so-serious dilemma.
“Hey good for you” Her smile is radiant, stroking her fingers through your hair.
“No.” You sit up quickly, your whole body turning towards her, “Not good for me.” Your hands doing the speaking for you before lifting yourself off the sunken spot, heading over to the cooler.
“Why?” Jay follows you.
Lifting the cooler door open, grabbing your favorite flavor of popsicle and handing him a grape one.
You sign, not wanting to tell him your real reason for not wanting to go on this date. Sure Tommy Horn is super cute and you can’t believe he asked you out. But there is one thing about him-
“Tommy always kisses on the first date.” Gwen teases.
There it is. You shut your eyes, hoping that this whole situation goes away but when you open them again you see them all staring at you. Great. Your shoulders slump as you lean against the cooler. Feeling the cool box through your denim shorts.
“So…” Jay still not seeing the problem, taking a taste of his popsicle.
It’s so cute when he’s oblivious you thought.
Rubbing your hand on the back of your neck as you begin to mumble some inaudible words.
Jay leans closer to you, “Yep, caught none of that.” He says before holding the popsicle in his mouth as he lifts himself onto the cooler.
“I'VE NEVER KISSED ANYONE BEFORE, OKAY?” You basically shout, “Don’t laugh Jay.,” you plead, catching him before he could, your pointer finger on his lips. Feeling the hot breath escaping through the open part.
Then there’s Ozzie. His laugh echoing through the basement, probably even the whole house. The embarrassment floods through your body.
Gwen stands up, “On my god, we are leaving since you can’t behave.” She grabs him by the arm practically dragging him out of the basement before he can object.
The tragic walk of shame back to the couch as you and Jay are now the only occupants of the basement.
“Wait, you seriously haven’t kissed anyone before.” You shake your head no at his comment as you sit down, silently wishing the couch would engulf your entire body.
Hopping off of the cooler, saying, ‘What about Daniel Peter’s party in 7th grade? Didn’t you kiss him?” He tries to recall, his popsicle almost gone.
“I chickened out while I was in the closet with him. We promised each other that we would lie since neither of us have had our first kiss yet.” You confess, still holding onto the melting popsicle in your hands.
You name softly rolling off his tongue, “It’s been almost 5 years and you still haven’t had it yet?” His analysis is deafening.
And that’s when the idea hit him. He wasn’t sure if it was actually a good plan or not, he can’t really tell when one of his ideas is. “Kiss me.”
“Jay Kelso say what?” His tone is so casual you almost didn’t believe what just came out of his mouth.
“Kiss me and I’ll tell you if you’re good or not.” You can’t help but look anywhere but his face, “So like you know what to do on your date.” He stumbles on his words. Did he finally realize what he said to you? Was the tension in the room making him nervous?
“I really don’t think I can do that.” You try to focus on the tv, wishing the volume would drown out this conversation.
“Why not?” He brings his leg onto the couch, his arm hanging on the back, his grape popsicle slowly being forgotten about.
You laugh, forcing any sort of embarrassment away, “What if you end up falling completely in love with me? Then what?” Crossing your arms over your chest.
“I’m like 99% sure that won’t happen.”
“But that 1% seems a little too big for me.” You quickly counter.
“Seriously, get over here and kiss me right now.” His demanding tone sends a shiver down your spine.
Your heart rate increases by the second as you breathe out. Taking a gulp before moving closer to him.
Situating yourself in front of him. “Ok so like how should this go, like you go left and I go right, or is that the same way for the both of us. Or maybe we both go left?” You start to ramble on.
“Just be quiet and close your eyes.” His voice is steady. Placing his hand on your thigh making you shut up instantly, his thumb ever so slightly rubbing circles on your bare skin. The goose bumps on your legs becoming prominent.
You take a deep breath before closing your eyes.
Waiting.
You can feel him move on the couch, his other hand placed gently on your cheek, pulling you toward him. His lips brushing against yours as your breaths become one. The sweet taste of grape popsicles swirling through your mouth. The kiss was soft and meaningful with every last second. Leaning into the warmth of the kiss.
And then it’s over. Your lips suddenly lost without him.
Your heart rate is still high as you never wanted it to end. Was that supposed to be how every kiss felt? Cosmic, breathless, absolutely unbelievably out of this world?
Gaining the courage to open one eye before asking, “Did you fall madly in love with me?”
He ponders your question. “I think I'm fine.” He smiles before settling back into the couch, his mind resting on the tv as he reaches for the remote to turn it up.
His demeanor was so casual and normal. You couldn’t help but wonder what he was thinking and how this whole kiss thing didn’t affect him. You can’t help but be completely intoxicated with the taste of him. Realizing now that you were actually the one falling in love with Jay Kelso.
~~~~~~
Let me know what you think!! <3
A Little Less Talk, & A Lot More Lovin'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jay Kelso x Male!Reader
Romantic/Platonic/Unspecified
Pronouns: He/Him
Summary: Both you an Jay skip school, leaving you both home alone in the Forman basement. A little bit of weed and a lot of kissing later, both you and Jay are as high as kites.
TW's/Disclaimers: Making out, Weed, implications/mentions of boners, y/n and Jay being horny ig.
You exhale with a slight cough as you pull the, definitely not rolled properly, joint away from your lips. The basement air was thick with the smell of sweat and weed as you passed the joint off to your boyfriend who was staring down at you, your head resting on his lap.
"How you doin' up there pretty boy?" You look at your boyfriend who has a doped up smile plastered across his face. You were always the more tame one of the group when you guys smoked. Besides Ozzie, whenever he decided to opt out.
"Amazing." He bobs his head a little after he pulls the joint away from his mouth, placing it on the ash tray on the coffee table in front of him. He looks down at you and grins like an idiot. "Hey Handsome."
"Hey Casanova." You laugh. Jay stares at you with a far away look for a moment before leaning down and placing a kiss on your forehead. The kisses then being trailed down to your temple, your nose, and all the way to your lips. You hum into the kiss as he pulls your face closer by the nape of your neck.
You pull away with a whine of complaint coming from Jay. You sit correctly on the couch and look at Jay as you grab his hand, pulling him as a sign to move and straddle your lap. Which wasn't something you did often. Every time, Jay got to embarrassed and flipped you so you were straddling him.
But you wanted to tease him.
Reluctantly, Jay swung one of his legs over your hips. He avoided eye contact with the most absurd head motions, looking anywhere but you. You laughed and moved you hand to his hips, pushing them down so he wasn't hovering. They stayed there when Jay finally looked at you.
Jay didn't like straddling you because it made him feel small. But you did like feeling small. So giving him all the control was well in your favor. As well as his. It took him a second, but after sitting there for a moment and getting comfortable with the situation, you could visibly see Jay's confidence return to his face. His demeanor becoming more cocky and confident.
Jay grabbed your face in his hands, smashing his lips with yours. It was sweet and slow, with just a bit of tongue thrown into the mix. It was as if everything had fallen into place.
You both had only started dating near the end of summer, so 5 months into your guys' relationship, and out of all the kisses you had shared, this one takes the cake. You weren't sure why but something about this one just felt different, more slow and meaningful.
The kisses get heavier the longer it goes on as you hold Jay's hips, his chest pressing against your own. Jay pulls back a second. Only to grin at you and flip you both over.
"You little bitch-"
"Babe, less talking. More kissing." Jay nuzzles his head in the crook of your neck as he sucks and presses kisses to your neck. Not knowing what to do with your hands, you place them in his hair as his hands guide your hips to fully sit down on his lap. His kisses migrate to your lips, soft lips against yours, tongues brushing, and breath heavy.
Half-way through a kiss you hear the sound of laughter and footsteps as the gang comes rushing down the stairs. Both you an Jay quickly jump to separate, each of you grabbing a pillow to place on your lap as you put as much distance between you and him. You on one side of the couch, him on the other.
The gang makes it downstairs and the chatter slowly dies down when they see you both, awkward and red faced. Nikki is the first to say something.
"How are you guys already here? School just let out." She walked over to you guys and took one look at the joint in the ashtray before gasping. "Did you guys skip!" She threw her bag down and sat on the coffee table so she was right in front of you.
"Jay, bro, you skipped without me?" Nate leaned against the couch behind Jay but both of you just sat there frozen in place. Neither removing the pillows that lay in your laps.
Ozzie stepped up and sat in between you and Jay, no shame at all. He sighed and looked at everyone in the room, giving Gwen a knowing look, making them both smile evilly. Ozzie cleared his throat and grabbed both pillows covering yours and Jays laps.
"Observe. Boners."
Nate and Nikki gasped as Gwen and Ozzie smiled wickedly at each other. Both you and Jay stood up quickly as you reach for his hand.
"You want to leave? I think we should leave, let's leave." Jay rambled as you nodded your head, Jay pulling you away and out the basement door.
Tumblr media
I DID IT! When I tell you I RAN to make a list and find prompts for Nate and Jay when I finished the series. I remember watching "That 70s Show" with my sister when it was on Netflix and us being so upset when it was removed. :(
Hello! Could you do a Jay kelso x reader were they are flirting and stuff around the group then the group asks if there dating then there like “no we’re just friends blah blah blah” then the group walks in to them making out on the couch?? I know it’s basic but I need more Jay kelso 😍
Not basic at all, literally adore this
"Never know unless we try."
Jay Kelso x gn!reader
Summary- You would always think the flirting between you and Jay was always a joke and would never lead anywhere, but after being called out by your friends it started to feel different.
Warnings- cheesy romance, fluff, idk what else
Tumblr media
"Jesus, Leia, can you do anything about the temperature of this basement, I think I might melt." Ozzie asked her, she shrugged.
You look over to Jay, "Well, if anyone is heating up this room, it's gotta be you, Kelso." You say, wiggling your eyebrows with a smirk, everyone in the room groans except for Jay.
This has been an ongoing thing for the past couple of months. It started in your 3rd period science class, Jay would complement how you handled the lab equipment in a flirtatious way, and you would respond to boost his ego. It just kept going ever since.
The rest of your friend group thought it was funny to begin with, and now they despise it. You two will sit there constantly hitting on one another to the point where Gwen pretends to gag at the lunch table.
"Why don't you just ask him out?"
She would ask you this question almost everyday.
"Because it's not like that. It's just a big joke."
She never believed it for a second. You just let it slip past your mind, though. You never paid any attention to what he was actually saying. You just wanted to have an inside thing between the two of that would last.
Cut back to now where the two of you are laughing so much to the point where neither of you can breathe, yet you're both managing to keep complimenting eachother.
The rest of the group decided to just ignore you guys and get back to their conversation. Jay grasped onto your arm for support while laughing. You noticed your breathing started to go unsteady.
You just laughed it off though, you knew that this wasn't going to go anywhere and that it was just a thing friends did.
Nothing more.
-
"Okay, we're heading out. Are you guys sure you don't wanna come with?" Gwen asked both of you, "No, they're replaying all the Back to the Future movies tonight." You replied.
That was something you and Jay had always bonded over, so the flirting wasn't the only thing there. "Okay, I'll bring you home some candy, though." She said, you both replied with a thank you and bye before she left.
The TV started playing the beginning credits of the first movie, Jay wrapped his arm around you and pulled you in. You didn't think anything of it as per usual because this was a common thing.
Even though you were sort of used to it, your heart beat increased. As much as you wanted him to hold you, you didn't want to ruin what the both of you had.
You unwrapped his arm from around you and sat back up to your original position. You felt his gaze turn over to you. You tried your hardest not to look back at him.
He eventually decided to speak up, "What was that for?" You looked over to him and shrugged, he huffed. "Do I need a shower?" You giggled, he grabbed you again, this time you were facing him.
He started to lean in. You jerked your head back, "Did I do something Y/N?" You sighed, "No, I want to, I really do, but I don't want to ruin what we have."
"I mean.." He started, "Never know unless we try."
You smiled, getting back closer to him. He put his hand up to your cheek to pull you in. Your lips connected, they molded together, he created a rhythm. You were addicted to what was happening, it just felt right.
You pulled back every now and then to catch your breath and then went straight back in. You grasped his hair while one of his hands was on your waist and the other still holding your face.
You both kept going like that for a good few minutes. Then the door opened behind you guys, "Wow." Gwen let out, then she started to mock you, "They're replaying Back to the Future tonight"
Yalllll, ignore my whole blog vibe changing, I'm experimenting, also that 90s show was draining me but I LOVED writing this.
You and Jay were wiping your leftover lip gloss off and scooted away from each other. The rest of the group piled in and sat around while gwen sat in between the two of you.
One of the easiest ways Kelso is able to show affection towards you is by holding your hand, especially as he doesn't need to interrupt any conversations or draw to much attention to the two of you in order to do so. The way he holds your hand shows how much he truly cares about you, especially when he's refusing to let go.
He mainly holds your hand in public as a way to silently show you off without making you uncomfortable. He's able to make people acknowledge that you're with him due to the two of you holding hands without forcing you into any dramatic forms of PDA, and this gives him his own little confidence boost knowing that you're happy to hold his hand back.
Jay sometimes plays with your hands unintentionally, and goes to grab and hold them just because he nothing else to occupy his hands at the time. Whether this is while the two of you are watching TV or just simply chilling out, you'll usually find him playing with your fingers or stroking his thumb across the back of your hand in some way.
Holding your hand can also be a quiet way that he reassures you and helps cheer you up. He can be quite goofy when he wants to be, so if he sees you visibly sad he'll take both of your hands in his and swing them around in order to make you laugh or will hold your hand in order to drag you somewhere that will eventually cheer you up again. And if neither of those things work, he'll once again hold your hand so he can guide you somewhere quiet so the two of you can talk properly in private.
He also likes to hold your hand while he's sleeping, mainly as he cuddles you in his sleep and is almost impossible to get away from. Holding your hand means he's always close to you even if it's to warm during the night to hold you against him, and his grip is pretty strong so you may need to pry his hand off of yours with a lot of force if you have to get up for anything in the morning.
Big Reputation (Jay Kelso x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Slight enemies to lovers inspired by a tiktok by @/saracarstens. (Y/N) has heard about Jay’s family and reputation and is wary to give him the attention he’s craving (titled inspired by Taylor Swift’s Endgame)
Word count: 2.5k
Content/warnings: fluff (NO smut), slight enemies to lovers, very brief mentions of sex, kelso slander (again) not slander if it’s true
You had heard about Jay Kelso before. Son of the wealthy, glamorous local television personality Jackie Burkhart and dim witted police officer and notorious womanizer Michael Kelso. Point Place was a small town after all, it wasn’t hard to hear the stories of the trails of broken hearts Michael Kelso had left in his wake, including that of Jay’s mother. You knew of Jay from school and the two of you working up the street from each other, and had heard of his many past girlfriends, but had never actually met him before. Not until that Wednesday at the coffee shop.
You were working your usual after school shift at the local uptown coffee shop when he came in. Interestingly, he was by himself. No gregarious group of friends, no girl on his arm. Just Jay Kelso, sporting messy hair and a flannel, staring straight in your direction.
You rolled your eyes when you locked eyes with him, seeing his face falter slightly and his lips part as he laid eyes on you. He didn’t seem to see you as you disappeared back behind the counter, instead sitting down at a table and opening up a book. You chortled a bit, Michael Kelso’s son reading for fun? What a joke. You rolled your eyes again and wondered what girl he was hoping to impress with that thing. You never could’ve imagined it could be you.
About ten minutes went by before your manager came and sent you on your break. You sat down in the corner by the cafe window, latte in your hand, and started to take a gentle sip as a familiar figure appeared before you and sat down in front of you. Who else could it be but Jay Kelso himself.
“Uh, hey,” he mused, blushing.
“Hi.”
You tried to be polite, you had heard plenty about him in the past, but you didn’t know him. Maybe he was just trying to be nice. Maybe he wasn’t some womanizing asshole, maybe he didn’t have any sort of more-than-platonic intentions.
He looked you up and down and swallowed anxiously. “I saw you from across the cafe, and I was thinking, um…”
Of course. Just another guy just trying to get in your pants.
You flashed him a look of disinterest. “No thanks.”
Jay looked flustered at your response. Surely because he was used to getting whatever girl he wanted, you assumed, and was shocked you wouldn’t be just another pawn in his games. But you also saw what looked like genuine disappointment flash upon his handsome face as his cheeks began to heat up to a magenta hue.
“I-I’m sorry, I-“ he stuttered.
You rolled your eyes. “Not interested, Kelso.”
“No, yeah, I understand. Um, sorry for asking, I shouldn’t have- I mean, um, I’ll leave you be.”
You focused your attention back to the mug in your hand as he walked away, melancholia in his pretty brown puppy dog eyes. Sure, Jay Kelso was good looking, but he was still a Kelso. And you were far too smart to get your heart broken. Not that you were too focused on boys anyway with how much of your energy you were putting into your school and work, but if you were looking for a man, any guy in town would do over Jay.
Just about a week later, at around the same time, the bell on the front door rang as it was opened once again by the ever so familiar Jay Kelso, this time holding a Polaroid camera rather than a book. You heard him order coffee from the girl at the front counter as you stood far enough behind the counter that he couldn’t see you preparing drinks, before he sauntered back to the same table as the week before and began sipping his drink while looking through his photos.
Unlike the week before, when you were more than happy to be sent on your break as your feet were starting to hurt and you were starting to feel that mental burn out for the night, tonight you were praying to the heavens above that you wouldn’t be sent to break while Jay was there. But there was your manager, once again, telling you to go on break so that the store could stay on schedule for the night. Great. At this point Jay had already been there for about half an hour and you were starting to wonder if he was stalking you. No, you thought to yourself, it’s just a coincidence. He doesn’t even know you work here. Not that he remembers you anyway, he probably asked out dozens of girls in just that day alone. Still, you decided to spend your break in your car just to avoid him.
You grabbed your to-go cup and started to make your way to the door of the coffee shop, which you had parked right in front of, and saw a car parked next to you that hadn’t been there when you showed up. Weird, there weren’t too many customers in the store at the moment. You were about to open the front door and walk out before a stranger came out from behind you and opened it for you, ushering you out.
“M’lady,” a deep voice echoed from above you.
“Thank you,” you said before peering up to get a look at this kind stranger.
Of course, it was Jay. Lovely.
“You again,” he said with a smirk.
You rolled your eyes, though a bit more playfully this time. “I don’t date.” Not entirely the truth, but not entirely a lie either. You weren’t against dating anyone right now, but you also weren’t looking. Especially not for him.
“That’s fine! Just wanted to help a lady in need.” He smiled a toothy grin.
Ugh, he was so annoying. Did he seriously think you couldn’t open a door?
You fought back a smile as you bit your inner cheek. “Well, thanks, I guess.”
“Yeah. See ya around,” Jay said, before clearing his throat. “And if you ever change your mind, I’d love to buy you a coffee,” he winked as the two of you walked off before you both awkwardly realized you were heading in the same direction. Of course. He was the car parked right next to you. Because why wouldn’t he be, right? Just your luck.
You awkwardly waved goodbye to him as he got in his car and drove off, not admitting to the butterflies that you felt in your stomach as he smiled at you. You couldn’t stand Jay Kelso, and you weren’t going to let that change anytime soon.
Another couple weeks went by, no Jay. It was a Saturday this time, so you’d gotten off of work earlier since you hadn’t had class during the daytime and decided to walk over to the video and record store just up the street. It was a pretty cool place that you liked to go to with your friends sometimes on the weekends, and you didn’t even pay any mind to the boy at the front desk as you walked in and started sifting through piles of John Hughes movies before making your way to the small clothing section filled with hats and band tees. You picked up a distressed denim baseball cap and put it on your head before walking over to the full sized mirror and almost jumping out of your skin as you saw a figure appear behind you.
“Damn.”
You sighed. “What do you want, Jay?”
“I-I just,” he blushed, “well, that looks really good on you.”
You rolled your eyes before turning to face him. “Are you following me?”
“Well, actually, I work here, so it seems to me like you’re the one following me, doll.”
Shit. How could you forget Jay worked at this store?
He casually looked you up and down before speaking up again. “You know, you apparently know my name, but I don’t seem to have caught yours.”
“(Y/N).”
Jay smirked. “Beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”
“Shut up,” you sighed, fighting back a smile.
“You wanna buy it?” he asked.
You sighed. “See, I would, but I don’t get paid til tomorrow, so I’m kind of just window shopping for now.”
“Okay…” he said in a sing-song voice. “First purchase is on me. How does that sound?”
“Jeez. You like it on me that much.”
“Yeah,” he said, looking you up and down again and biting his lip. “Really. You look gorgeous.”
You blushed. “Thanks Jay. You don’t look too bad yourself. You win. I guess I’ll let you buy the hat.”
“Sounds great!” he exclaimed before ringing it up and walking you to the door.
“See you later, (Y/N).”
“In your dreams, Kelso,” you replied, attempting to hide your smile.
Another week or two went by and you tried your best to convince yourself to forget about Jay Kelso, but every time you saw that denim hat sitting in the corner of your bedroom, the butterflies in your stomach that he’d given you kept coming back. You sighed and made your way to the bathroom to get ready for that evening’s shift.
That was the next time you had seen Jay, and you were genuinely shocked at how cool he played it as he only so much as gave you a friendly wave from across the coffee shop while once again looking through a large stack of Polaroids. Maybe he’d finally given up, you thought. However, the next night took that hope and crushed it.
Another day, another break that you hadn’t (yet) ran into Jay Kelso. You sighed with relief before the ring of the door opening pulled you out of your thoughts. What timing, lo and behold there was Jay at the door looking devilishly handsome as ever in a Nirvana tee, ripped jeans, and dirty converse high tops with a camera strung around his neck. He made his way over to the corner of the cafe where you were once again sitting enjoying your coffee in peace.
“C’mon… it can’t be a coincidence that we keep meeting here.”
“Now I don’t believe in coincidence,” you smirked, “but I don’t mean to burst your bubble. I actually work here. You seem to keep catching me on my breaks…”
“And here I thought it was fate. Guess I’m just a lucky guy.”
“See? You hit on me every time you see me, but you know nothing about me.”
“That’s not true,” he pouted.
“Oh isn’t it?”
“No. I know this is your favorite corner in the cafe to sit down and drink your coffee, and I know that your hair looks beautiful when the sun hits it shining in through the window. I know you drive a (your car), I know you bite your cheek when I make you nervous, even though you like to pretend that I don’t. But I can tell from the way you blush. And I know that your name is (Y/N), a beautiful name for a beautiful girl. And what are you drinking right now?”
“Chai latte,” the both of you said in unison.
“That’s what I thought,” Jay smirked.
You tried to ignore the way your cheeks were heating up as you thought of a witty reply. “Epic fail, Kelso. You’re just making yourself sound like a total stalker.”
“Maybe. Or maybe I just care enough to notice all the little things about you.”
“Oh please. If you wanted anything more than to get inside my pants, maybe I’d believe you.”
His brow furrowed, goofy demeanor falling and a genuinely serious look washing over his face. “Why would you think that?”
You rolled your eyes. “Don’t play dumb. I’ve heard about you before.”
“Heard about me? Or heard about my dad?”
Damn… that shut you up real quick.
“Actually, (Y/N), if you must know, I’m a virgin. And I hardly even know my father since he doesn’t seem to give a shit about me, if that makes you feel any better.”
Well now you felt like an absolute asshole.
“Shit, Jay, I’m sorry.”
He shook his head, fighting back tears. “No need to be. You didn’t know. No hard feelings, right?”
You smiled at him. “Of course not. As long as you don’t hate me for being such a bitch.”
“I could never,” Jay grinned. “And you’re not a bitch. You’re a gorgeous girl, inside and out.”
You blushed and bit your cheek lightly. “Thank you, Jay.”
Another week or so went by before you stopped once again in the record shop, this time however on purpose with one boy on your mind - Jay Kelso. You tried on a couple hats again, getting his opinion every time and each time him telling you that you looked beautiful in everything. You didn’t even wear hats that often, but the store didn’t have a dressing room to try on the tee shirts, so you did what you had to do to keep seeing Jay.
This went on for a little over a month. Jay would show up and order coffee, you’d show up and try on hats, and you’d wave at each other in the hallways at school. Eventually your little visits to each others’ work became more and more frequent and your interactions less and less platonic, however without either of you officially making a move.
One Friday evening you had been trying on hats for what felt like hours, chatting and laughing with Jay the whole time as he gave you his opinions on which hats looked good on you and which to buy, which, of course, was always, all of them.
“Okay…” you sighed, biting your cheek, “I think I like this one.” You adjusted the baby pink bucket hat on your head.
Jay could tell that you were about to leave and realized it was finally his chance to make a move.
“(Y/N)…”
“Yeah?”
“I, um, don’t think I really did this right the first time… will you go out with me?”
You rolled your eyes playfully. “I thought you’d never ask!” You ran your fingers through your hair, taking off the hat and handing it to him. “I don’t even hardly wear hats that much. But I agree… this one does look adorable on me.”
“It does. And for the record, I totally hate coffee.”
You couldn’t contain your laughter as he pulled you into his arms. “You’re such a dork!”
“Not as much of a dork as the girl who came into my work to try on hats for hours just to get my attention after rejecting me,”
“Oh, shut up,” you giggled, pulling him closer.
“Make me.”
You planted a quick kiss on his lips, leaving him flustered.
“So… about that date.”
“How does coffee sound?”
( note ) : ahh!! i loved this prompt sm. it gave me an excuse to write teeth-rotting fluff and temporarily retreat to a fandom i abandoned a while ago. the it miniseries had two episodes (I think??) and idk if drive-ins usually show series. if not, let’s say they do for plot purposes. the two episodes are like 3hrs total anyway so it’s a somewhat passable movie length. i just wanted to include a horror movie moment (because jay canonically gets scared easily and i couldn’t not use that to my advantage)… so here we are. have fun!!
oh. and can you tell by reading this that bullying is 80% of my love language? /j
There’s a certain charm to Point Place. Most people dream of living in the city where time slips by faster than they can keep up with. They seek the thrill in busy streets and sleepless nights. Personally, you don’t think small towns are too bad. Point Place isn’t too bad. Of course, you might be a little biased.
The city doesn’t have a Jay Kelso. It doesn’t have the local ice-cream shop Jay took you to on your first date. It doesn’t have the old gazebo where you waited out the rain on your one-year anniversary. It doesn’t have a weekly drive-in at the local park where you spend hours critiquing movie plots and laughing at stupid jokes over milkshakes and burgers.
There’s only one place you’ll find that — home.
There’s a loud boom over the speakers, the kind they pair with a loud crescendo to evoke that sense of suspense. It shakes the ground and everything that touches it, startling your boyfriend. His hands find your own and grips them tight. When you look up, you see his eyes are squeezed shut.
“Why do they keep doing that?” Jay sounds breathless, his cheeks flushed from knowing that you’d definitely felt him flinch. It’s endearing, really.
“Why do they keep doing that?” Jay sounds breathless, his cheeks flushed from knowing that you’d definitely felt him flinch. It’s endearing, really.
“It’s a horror franchise, babe. If you wanted something more quiet, you should have just asked me to read the book. Less sound effects and pointed teeth.” You make a show out of baring your teeth, imitating the snapping jaw of the werewolf on-screen.
“There’s a book?” he asks, finally opening his eyes. You think he’s joking, at first. Like he’s about to say something about how waiting for the movie is just so much easier. But his brows are settled into that look he gets when he’s really confused. You sit upright, startling Jay with the suddenness of your movement.
“There’s a— What do you mean ‘There’s a book?’ It’s Stephen King!” He stares blankly. “You’re kidding. He’s published like thirty novels.”
“Well, none that I’ve read.” You roll your eyes.
“Well, duh. When was the last time you picked up a book?”
“I read!” he bristles.
“Comics don’t count.”
“I read other things! I don’t have an A in English for nothing.” You want to say something about how class novels don’t count either but you decide against it. He is smart, really. He’s easily distracted, sure, but Jay is a lot more knowledgeable than he lets on. He’s particularly good at reading people, what they like and don’t like. It’s probably why he gets along with everyone.
“Alright, fine. But please tell me you’ve watched some of his other films.” He shakes his head. ”No? Not even Carrie? The Shining?” You think your pitch rises with every question, baffled by this new revelation regarding your boyfriend’s lack of horror movie knowledge. “Jay, I don’t know how I feel about this.” He rolls his eyes at your dramatics.
“I’m just not a big horror fan!” That, you know, is a gross understatement. Jay can get scared by so much as a light breeze. You refuse to confirm nor deny whether you find pleasure in taking advantage of that very fun fact.
“Fair enough. Some people just scare easily, I guess.”
“Not me, though,” he huffs a defensive, albeit nervous laugh.
Oh, that’s cute.
“Really?” you challenge.
“Uh-huh. It’s gonna take a lot more than a movie to scare me.”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
“Just imagine this happening in real life. I mean, it’s terrifying. This guy can just get inside your head. Sure, ghosts and stuff can be scary. But at least you can move out or… perform an exorcism for that. How do you tell an ancient omnipotent alien to get out of your head? I don’t even have to be afraid of one specific thing, but if I’m creative enough, who knows what I could come up with? Like… a flesh-eating centipede the size of a crocodile. What do you think he’d shape-shift into if he was trying to scare you?”
You’re only slightly thrown off to be met with silence. Your mind is running through a thousand words a minute, theorizing about hypothetical evils and mind-reading. The absurdity, all too welcome, is only manageable to the extent that you’re still aware of where you are, who you’re with, and how said person seems to have stopped breathing.
“Jay? Ja-ay!” you try to snap him out of it.
“Nothing, duh. I think I’d know if a creepy clown was trying to manipulate me, thanks.” He’s pale as a ghost, clearly unnerved. You’re cruel, and he’s unlucky.
“Really? Not even if a spider started crawling on you?”
“Y/N,” Jay warns, sensing the mischief in your tone, low and taunting.
“I wouldn’t go to sleep with my mouth open tonight, if I were you.”
“No, no, Y/N don’t put that into my head,” he whines. You grin.
“The creepy crawlies are out to get-cha!” You reach for the nape of his neck, fingers crawling upward to imitate his eight-legged foe. Jay’s eyes widen in horror. Before you know it, he’s scrambling for his car keys.
“Nope! Nuh-uh! Not doing this. Going home now, thank you!”
“Oh my god, Jay!” you call after him.
The couple to your right hisses an angry scolding in your direction. In your opinion, that was a hell of a lot scarier than the face-painted clown with a preference for human flesh. Jay doesn’t seem to notice that though because he’s climbing into the driver’s seat, face pale. He looks a little bit sick.
“Jay, baby, I was just messing with you.” He shakes his head profusely.
“First it’s centipedes, next it’s spiders. I don’t even wanna know what else you can come up with. I’m already not sleeping tonight. I’m gonna try to keep it to a one-night maximum.”
“Jay.” He looks at you through the rear-view mirror. “Ja-ay. Can you look at me for a sec?” You crawl after him, wrapping your arms around the backrest of his seat. There’s only an inch of space between your mouth and his neck. Your steady breath, and the softness of your voice, eases the tension in his shoulders. “How about this? If you watch the whole thing with me and still feel scared, I’ll sleep over at your place tonight. I’ll protect you from any killer clowns and creepy insects, hm? What do you think?” He takes ahold of your hand, looking at you through the mirror again with a slight grin. You can tell he’s holding back, biting at his cheek to keep the corners of his mouth from turning upward.
“Is that a promise?” You press a kiss to his knuckle.
“Cross my heart, hope to die. I can throw in a pinky-swear in, if you need it.” With your free hand, you raise a pinky to his face.
“Oh, shut up.”
“You love me.” He grumbles through your fit of laughter. When your breath evens out again, you’re surprised to see his expression change. Jay's eyes crinkle with a smile. Not his usual teeth-baring grin, but the blissed-out turn of the mouth that holds all weight in his gaze, alone. Sincerity. Admiration. Love.
“I do, don’t I?” You’re momentarily stunned by the intimateness of this moment. The sudden vulnerability is so unexpected that all you can do is press a kiss to his cheek – a silent acknowledgement of his affection as if to say ‘I love you too.’
Like most days, you slip back comfortably into childish banter.
“But I still don’t get why you like this movie so much.”
“It’s a classic. Besides, doesn’t The Losers Club kind of remind you of us? Tight-knit friend group in a small town, spending the summer together?” He tilts his head to the side, seemingly deep in thought.
“Does that make you Beverly?” You open your mouth, but hesitate to respond. Jay raises his brow, intrigued by your tentativeness.
“I was thinking Richie.”
“Huh. You know what? That checks out. Trashmouth Tozier’s got nothing on you.”
“Damn right.” You clap an approving hand for his shoulder, reaching back to the abandoned meal you’ve left in the back of the car. Jay, with his impeccable timing, decides to return the attempt of humiliating you just as you reach for your milkshake. Admittedly, it’s well-played. You’d be proud if it wasn’t you he was trying to make fun of.
“You sure it’s got nothing to do with your crush on Bill?” Your jaw drops, surprised.
“I do not have a crush on Bill!” Your voice gives you away, sounding undoubtedly guilty, almost reminiscent of the turbulence in Jay’s voice when he insisted that he wasn’t scared. Turns out, you’re both terrible liars when it comes to each other. It’s quite humbling. “Well, maybe a little.”
“I knew it!”
“Hey! I’m allowed to like things for multiple reasons.”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m sure you’re here for the power of friendship.” He waves a dismissive hand.
“See?” You play dumb to his sarcasm. “Now you’re getting it.”
“You’re so lucky I like you.”
“Does that mean we’re staying?” You flash him a sickly sweet smile. With a sigh, Jay finally surrenders.
“Fine. But I’m holding you to that promise. You’re coming over.”
“Good.” You shift back to where you were seated, facing the large screen again. “I really wanted to get through all of the scenes with Bill.” He gasps, feigning offense with an exaggerated hand to his chest.
“First of all, how dare you?”
“You love me! Remember that!”
Can u do jay kelso x fem reader doing his make up like his mom did his dad in the 70s show x
A/N: OMGG YESSS!!!
Summary: Jay Kelso was spending the weekend at his long-term girlfriends house(you). You were taking off your make up when Jay Kelso asks if you could do his.
Warnings: none just fluff and cure Jay
Tumblr media
It was finally the weekend, the first weekend since the two of you could be alone without your friends. You love your friends, but sometimes you just wanted to be alone with Jay.
Led zeppelin was currently playing in the distance, as you were sitting on his bed. You could feel his eyes boring into your back as you hummed to the words.
"What are you staring at?" You asked, putting your makeup pad down.
"Why do you need to wear that?" He asked. He was never a fan of you wearing makeup, as he loved you even more without it.
"It's like art, Jay. I could show you?" Jay shakes his head as you were basically finished taking off your makeup from the day.
"I'll see if your mom has any makeup I could borrow. I didn't bring any with me." Y/n gives Jay a chaste kiss on his lips as she gets up to leave the room.
"Hey, Mrs. Kelso. Um, weird question, but I'm putting makeup on Jay, and I was wondering if I could borrow some of yours?" The older woman let's out a small laugh.
"Yes. I'll be right back." Jackie left the room, as she continued to find some makeup for the young teen.
She was getting a sense of Deja Vu, from when she used to do Kelso's makeup as teens themselves.
Jackie comes back to see you leaning against the wall in the hallway. You were picking off some black nail polish that you've been picking the last couple of days.
"Thank you Mrs. Kelso. I'll give these back when I'm done." You promised, skipping back to your boyfriend's room.
You quickly jumped on the bed with the bag of makeup.
A wide grin graces your lips as you dumped the makeup and organized them.
"What's this?" Jay asked, pointing at a foundation bottle.
"Foundation. You apply this after you moisturize and prime your face." As you explained Jay continues to stay confused.
"Primer is what you use to help keep the base on." You explained, yet he was still confused.
"Just watch and learn from the master." Jay stayed silent letting you do the work.
Time skip...
You finally finished your makeup, but not without pausing when Jay would ask you a million questions.
"I look hot!" Jay said as he stared at himself in the bathroom mirror.
"I know! I did amazing!" You said cockily.
You grab his hands and head towards his mother.
"Mrs. Kelso, meet your beautiful son." You bowed as Jackie claps her hands together.
"You did amazing!' Your face went flushed as she gushed at your masterpiece.
"Thank you." You bowed.
"Come. We have to show the others." You zoomed to his bedroom to call your girlfriends and tell them to come over.
"You look so hot babe!" You kissed his nose not caring about smudging the highlighter as you did so.
A/n: sorry it took so long I was continuing another story and I was reading another Jay Kelso story on Wattpad called 'kids in america' which is so good.
Nikki x Male!Reader (+Nate Runck)
Romantic/Platonic/Unspecified
Pronouns: He/Him
Summary: After Leia leaves, the truth about what happened between her and Nate the day she left gets revealed, a guilty Nate coming to tell you all about it. But in his attempt get his guilt off of his chest, Nikki over hears and runs away in tears. You go to comfort her.
TW's/Disclaimers: Mentions of cheating, Nate and Nikki break up, the kiss between Leia and Nate DID happen, this takes place after 01x10. !!THIS IS JUST MY INTERPRETATION OF WHAT THE BREAK UP WOULD LOOK LIKE PLEASE!!
You were sitting in your room waiting for Nikki to show up. You had both planned to hang out an watch a movie, to ease the sadness of Leia leaving.
Leia had left around 2 hours ago and everyone was still a little upset about her leaving. You never really got the chance to get that close with Leia. You were out of town visiting family the first half of summer so you didn't get to meet Leia until late June.
You sigh and sit up from your spot on your bed, looking around your room aimlessly. You were bored, was the short answer. What was taking Nikki so long?
"Y/N! SOMEONE IS AT THE DOOR FOR YOU!" Your father screams from downstairs. You hop up and run down the stairs, yelling a quick 'thank you' to your father as you do so. You swing open the door expecting to see Nikki but instead you see her boyfriend. Nate. Your best friend.
"Oh, hey Nate. Is Nikki with you? I was waiting for her." You blink in surprise as he walks through the door, you closing it behind him.
"No, uh, Nikki isn't with me. I've kind of been avoiding her." He messes with the skin on the side of his finger nail as he stands there. You can tell he's nervous. No... nervous isn't the right word. Anxious? Jumpy? For lack of better words, he looked terrified. Like he was a puppy who got yelled at by his owner and ran away with his tail between his legs.
"Nate, are you alright?" You walk over to him and place a hand on his shoulder, making him look at you. He shakes his head, his eyes glossing over slightly with small tears of guilt.
"I messed up, Y/n. I messed up so bad." You bring him into a hug while he slows his breath, trying not to cry. After a minute he pulls away to allow you to lead him to the living room while you headed to the kitchen.
You grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and headed back to the living room, handing the bottle to Nate who was now sitting on the couch. You sat next to him on the couch and turned you body to face him as he chugged the water bottle.
"Nate, mind telling me what happened?" He finishes the bottle off and sets it on the floor next to his feet. He looked at you and you watched as his lip trembled slightly.
"I-" he paused. "I kissed Leia." He closed his eyes and prepared for the blow. You sat there with your mouth hung open slightly, eyes wide.
"Nate, I'm- I'm at a loss for words.' You shook your head in shock while Nate continued to look away from you. "Why and how could you do this to Nikki?" You looked at Nate who was about to say something when you both heard a creak from behind you. You both turn to look at the doorway of the living room, only to see a teary-eyed Nikki standing in the doorway. Nikki shakes her head as a few tears roll down her cheeks.
"I can't believe you Nate." She turns, quickly running to the front door, a slam being heard seconds later.
"Nikki wait-" Nate attempted to run after her but you put your hand on his chest to push him back onto the couch.
"No, Nate. You upset her, you do not get to comfort her." Nate tried to stand up again but you pushed him back onto the couch.
"But I need to talk to her-"
"NO! Nate, look, I love you. You're my best friend. I will always love you. But right now, you hurt Nikki, and now she's off to who knows where with a broken heart and probably about to do something stupid, and I need to be there to pick up the pieces. Cause I know damn well no else will." You grab your hoodie from the back back of the couch and slip it on. You look at Nate who is sitting there, eyes teary and hands shaking. You sigh and kneel in front of the boy.
"Nate." He doesn't answer. "Nate." He looks up to you and you grab his hands to stop them from shaking. "Everything will be fine. I'm not saying everything will be okay, or go back to the way it was, because it can't. And it's not okay. But that's not anyone's fault. Not yours, not Nikki's, and not Leia's. Life moves on, okay? You can stay here for a little bit if you want but you should go home." Nate thinks for a moment and nods. "I'm sorry for yelling. I'll see you tomorrow."
------
You had been searching for a while and couldn't find any sign of Nikki anywhere. You went to her house first and asked her father if she had come home. He got worried thinking she was missing so you came up with the lie that she had forgotten something and said she would go home and get it. Long story short, she wasn't at home and you had basically searched this entire town.
When you left you had opted to ride your bike instead of walking, so as you peddled down the street you caught a glimpse of the water tower over the tree line.
'Of course.'
Going down the path you had to chain up your bike, to avoid hitting any rocks or losing control on the steep hill. You walked down the hill carefully, picking up speed the closer you got. You stopped when you reached the bottom of the water tower and looked around for a minute. After deducing that Nikki was not at the bottom you sighed and headed for the ladder, starting to climb.
You finally reach the top moments later, your head poking over the top of the ladder. You see Nikki sitting with her back up against the water tower, looking out over the railing at the sky, tears slowly running down her cheeks. You frown and move up the ladder more.
"You can't stay mad at him forever ya' know." Nikki jumps to wipe the tears off her face but stops when she sees it's just you. "You don't have to forgive him, but you will have to talk to him at some point." You climb up the ladder fully and sit next Nikki, putting ample distance between you and her.
"I don't want to forgive him or talk to him. He can fall in a ditch for all I care." You frown and look over at Nikki.
"You don't mean that." Nikki shakes her head as a few more tears slip past her eyes.
"No, no I don't. I just-" She stops to regain her breath and continues. "I just can't believe him. I mean, was this my fault? I mean a couple days ago we did have this argument over college, and what would happen when we go back to school. He wants to focus on football and I want to focus on my grades. I may have told him that when I go to college I don't want to be in a relationship but that doesn't give him the right to ago and kiss someone he met two months ago! I mean, Leia was going to leave eventually, what made her a better choice than me?" Nikki takes a breath and sighs.
"Well, you did essentially tell him that you were going to break up with him sooner or later. Not saying what he did was right, but I think self consciously, he didn't want you to break up with him, so he did it first." Nikki looks down and stays quiet, so you take this as a sign to keep talking.
"Look, Nik, Leia was torn up about Jay and Nate was freaking out over you. I guess in the moment it felt like they were filling voids neither you or Jay could fill at that point in time. Maybe this whole summer of romances was just, summer fun, or maybe, they were 'right person, wrong time' types of situations. But all I do know is that whatever happens, we can get through it. Nothing is stronger than this friend group. We have been through a lot of heart break these past two months and I think we all deserve a break."
"But I want to be the one to fill the void that I made. He should have come to me if he was worried." She gets up and leans her elbows on the railing, continuing to look out over the tree line at the sky. You could see the tiniest bit of sun peeking over the tree tops.
"Maybe he was scared. But Nikki you have to talk to him or else nothing will get better. You'll both in the dark and I don't want the friend group to suffer because of it." You stand up to stand next to Nikki, your arm going to rest around her shoulders. "I love you guys to much to see this friend group fall apart." Nikki shifts to look at you and smiles, resting her head on your shoulder.
"I love you guys too. Whether I say it or not."
"You should tell Nate that" She looks to you with wide eyes and then thinks for a minute.
"Okay, I'll talk to him."
"There's my girl."
