The ending we deserved
I want to believe that the Dodal endgame is because of their agency. Because it would be even harder to admit the writer is that mediocre. With her previous work, I liked the way she kept their relationships clean, no love triangle/mess.
This is how the last 2 episode should have gone (I blame agency politics & tvn for the ending) considering the symbolism, etc.
JP giving up the plant and coaching DS.
JP saying to DM he's leaving.
DS asking DM for the reason why she likes him, she saying "because it's you".
DS asking his mum why she and her dad got together and she gives him reasons: your dad this and that, making him reflect.
DS asking DM again, and citing the letters. DM realizing she's not anymore the girl in the letters and ask DS why does he like her. He doesn't find reasons either and both break up.
JP moving away
DS geting over his pettiness and telling DM the truth about Noongil and how JP saved them.
DM realizing finally who she loves (JP) and running to the airport to catch him. She asks for forgivness.
(JP realizing he's too good for her and going away anyway, YES I WANT REVENGE)
Except for the 9th step, this is the ending we deserved. Instead we got manipulated to think JP still got a chance and went for all the drama chichés in the book. Ugh

FAIL BETTER
CHAPTER FOURTEEN: Speed of Sound
Fandom: 스타트업 | Start-up (K-drama) Relationship: Han Ji-pyeong/Nam Do-san Chapters: 14/? Work Summary: Han Ji-pyeong swears he’s not going to get more involved than he needs to. Keeping a 15 year old secret a little longer can’t have too many consequences, right? At least, he thought he could anticipate them all. Chapter Summary: Do-san has trouble voicing what he wants-- that is, if he knows what he wants. ------- “You seem like you’re in a good mood,” Ji-pyeong said.
Do-san failed to suppress the growing smile on his face. “Well, I am in a good mood.” “Any reason?” Ji-pyeong asked. He watched Do-san glance at the ground, and then he said, “You never did tell me how that dream of yours went.”
Do-san looked up, his eyes wide.
“Oh, is that why?” Ji-pyeong asked. He let out a laugh. “It was just a guess.”

Me watching “Start Up” to see pretty, young people go through trials and tribulations in their careers and love life and eventually come out happy and successful as a form of escapism but inadvertently getting in the midst of an ugly ship war the likes of which I have not seen since Twilight summer of ‘08

Now why are people in the tags acting like they wouldnt be upset if someone that you barely know tells you you're a failure that will never make it because you dont have a good product nor do you have qualities that will make them succeed😭? You're not even told why you'll never succeed and why your product isnt good either so theres no way you can improve. And why are people acting like dalmi is right when jipyeong has only ever given proper constructive criticism to her because he want some ass PLEASE let's think!!! Most of yall really dont know what constructive criticism looks like and that's a bit concerning😭

I love Do-san!!! It seems to be some sort of crime to love him. I truly don't understand how people have decided to villainize his character. It's so unjustified. You don't need to assassinate his good nature just to prop up ji-pyeong. We allow ji-pyeong to have flaws and have a million reasons to empathise with him but can't seem to do the same for Do-san. Like Do-san is selfish for having two loving parents even though they too had their own issues. It's always poor Ji-pyeong this and that like he hasn't made himself a successful career and persevered. I do adore ji-pyeong. I get it. He's the type of character people are drawn to. He's imperfect, cold at times, distant handsome. He fits the bill right below 'hot bad boy'. He's has a 'damaged' soul, tragic past and there's this inate need to fix him. I get it. We love when a girl like Dal-mi can bring the best out of a guy like him. Warm his heart. I see the appeal. Im not reducing his character to a cliche btw because both love interests technically are and at the end of the day, they're portrayed so well. I would actually be fine with a ji-pyeong endgame im mostly annoyed with the way people excuse his actions and make Do-san out to be a person he isn't. He's not some manipulative 'good guy. He's genuinely a good guy. He doesn't have low self esteem because he has some sort of agenda. He just is. He's grown so much during the course of the show and I wish people would see. He and dal mi are so good together. Amazing chemistry. I feel like another me wouldn't even be team do-san. I know people are suffering from 2nd lead syndrome and I get it I do but my heart is actually with the lead here. I was confused at first but the more people undermine do-san the more I love him. He's not some dud. He's not an annoying goody two shoes. He's not boring. His heart is pure and I'll take him in a heart beat if no one else would

Kim Seon Ho is to blame
He is hats off the best korean actor I’ve seen in any kdrama (there’s might be more good ones, but none of their performance was as impactful as his). Every facial expression, every gesture, he is completely captivating.  Episode 1 when he finds granma and he’s emotional but still smiles when she holds his face...like... The Swoon interview only reassured me: he’s that good, and that hard working. And this made me think his audition might has been as amazing as the scenes we’re seeing, because he wasn’t as well known and there’s no other reason to believe a more famous actor couldn’t get the part. I’ve seen the dramas he acted in before, but there he landed those loud dumb drama roles I kinda hate (he did a good job there too, but I suspect he had less creative freedom) To sum up, I’m really excited for his future roles, to see more of him. The way he acts is... art. He has the gift of acting. Not many people has this control over every facial muscle or over their body. His expression always on point, reflecting deeply the feelings of the character. I’m ready to sink with the Jidal ship, but more than that... I’m ready to see more of Kim Seon Ho.
