Hi again! :) I just started to watch Scooby Doo and Guess Who today, and I love the concept of introducing celebs. I love it because its not new, it's a callback to the og episodes with sonny and Cher, and batman!
If the show hadn't been cancelled, who would you want to guest star? (I watched a clip of the gang meeting their voice actors and it made my day, I was feeling down. I only thought they would meet frank welker too so it was a really nice surprise!)
Hi!
This will be divided between real people and fictional characters.
Real (both living and deceased)
Brendan Fraser
Ke Huy Quan
Tumblr media
Rob Paulsen
Dwayne Johnson
Zachary Levi
John Wayne
Tumblr media
Pentatonix
Gal Gadot
Henry Cavill
BTS
BLACKPINK
Tom Selleck
Jackie Chan
Chris Tucker (preferably working with Jackie)
Tumblr media
Mister Rogers (you can’t convince me that the persona he put for his show wasn’t his real self)
The Kratt Brothers
Steve Irwin
Sandra Bullock
Micheal Jordon
Charlize Theron
Ben Affleck
Anne Hathaway
Margot Robbie
Cate Blanchett
Judi Dench
Julie Andrews
Octavia Spencer
Zendaya
Jessica Alba
Blake Lively
Ryan Reynolds
Lupita Nyong'o
Sandra Oh
Bette Milder
Catherine Zeta Jones
Micheal Peña
Diego Luna
Rita Moreno
Eugenio Derbez
Priyanka Chopra
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Jet Li
Bruce Lee
Pat Morita
Duck Dynasty
ZZ Top
Spice Girls
ABBA
Liam Neeson
Chuck Norris
Tim Curry
Jon Heder
Honestly the list could go on but I don’t know if tumblr has a word count limit so moving on…
Fictional (individual + cast/duo) (apologies if some of these seem REALLY random; look, if they can meet the Addams Family and Batman, who’s to say what’s impossible?)
Wizard of Oz cast (either original book or MGM’s iconic film)
Tumblr media
Willy Wonka/Charlie Bucket
Tumblr media
Walker, Texas Ranger
Superman
^ + Bruce Timm’s Justice League
Blue + Steve from Blue’s Clues
Hercules and/or Xena
The Shazamily
The Animaniacs
Freakazoid
TEENAGED MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!!!
Five Nights at Freddy’s

You know what ? Aside from a few scenes, I actually never watched Blues Brothers 2000 entirely, but I strongly believe this movie brings a lot of good things for Elwoods character.
He started to open up a little. You may know the famous sentence “silent Elwood never did put more than two sentences together, but all those lost words burned from his Special 20 blues harp”, which captures Elwood’s character perfectly. The man expresses himself best when he’s got the band behind him, and we barely saw him align more than a few words in the first movie.
And we all know that Elwood has knowledge in very specific areas, right ?
Well, the only scene where we get to see Elwood speaking for more than 20 seconds straight is the one when he gives this speech about american blues.
“You may go if you wish. But remember this : walk away now and you walk away from your crafts, your skills, your vocations ; leaving the next generation with nothing but recycled, digitally-sampled techno-grooves, quasi-synth rhythms, pseudo-songs of violence-laden gangsta-rap, acid pop, and simpering, saccharine, soulless slush. Depart now and you forever separate yourselves from the vital American legacies of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Reed, Memphis Slim, Blind Boy Fuller, Louie Jordon, Little Walter, Big Walter, Sonnyboy Williamson I and II, Otis Redding, Jackie Wilson, Elvis Presley, Lieber and Stoller, and Robert K. Weiss. Turn your backs now and you snuff out the fragile candles of Blues, R&B and Soul, and when those flames flicker and expire, the light of the world is extinguished because the music which has moved mankind through seven decades leading to the millennium will wither and die on the vine of abandonment and neglect”.
And this, this almost made me cry.
It feels like it has to go off his chest. Elwood was ready to give up on everything. He was so miserable. Jake was gone, Curtis was gone, the orphanage closed, Elwood got nothing left except his passion for blues music. And Buster reminds him that he still has the band, the blues, the passion, and all of this are the only things that makes him feel alive, because “no pharmaceutical product could ever equal the rush you get when the band hits that groove, the people are dancing, shouting, and swaying, and the house is rocking”.

Wendell Corey and Barbara Stanwyck in The File on Thelma Jordon (Robert Siodmak, 1950)
Cast: Barbara Stanwyck, Wendell Corey, Paul Kelly, Joan Tetzel, Stanley Willis, Richard Rober, Minor Watson, Barry Kelley, Gertrude Hoffman. Screenplay: Ketti Frings, Marty Holland. Cinematography: George Barnes. Art direction: Hans Dreier, A. Earl Hedrick. Film editing: Warren Low. Music: Victor Young.
The chief problem with The File on Thelma Jordon is casting. Barbara Stanwyck's performance is terrific, of course, Robert Siodmak keeps a complex plot from snarling, and George Barnes's lights and shadows are eloquent. But Stanwyck is paired once again with Wendell Corey, who was her ineffective leading man in Anthony Mann's otherwise splendid The Furies, also made in 1950. Corey has no charisma and no depth. The screenplay may be at fault in not letting us see why Cleve Marshall's antagonism to his father-in-law is driving him to drink -- and into the arms of Stanwyck's scheming Thelma Jordon -- but Corey's hangdog manner doesn't help. Nor does he bring much visible intelligence to Marshall's scheming to undermine his own defense of Thelma when she's brought to trial for killing her aunt -- a murder he helped her cover up. The ending is also a bit of a muddle, largely because the Production Code meant that Thelma's crime had to be punished. What could have been a classic film noir ends up only a passable one.

Song Review: Sass Jordan - “Leaving Trunk”
For her next trick, Sass Jordan leaves Janis Joplin behind and channels Taj Mahal via Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk.”
The lead single from Jordan’s Rebel Moon Blues hews closely to Mahal’s arrangement, right down to the male viewpoint and stinging blues harp. There’s a bit of Mahal and Joplin - whom Jordan played in the off-Broadway edition of “Love, Janis” - in her ballsy vocals and her band, the Champagne Hookers, toss in a bit of extra guitar in an attempt to add their own touch.
But this is a straight cover with the melody and arrangement fairly lifted from Mahal’s 1968 eponymous debut. Probably a wise move even if it comes at the expense of doing something original.
Out March 13, Rebel Moon Blues includes Willie Dixon, Elmore James, Freddie King and Rory Gallagher covers and one new Jordan co-write.
Grade card: Sass Jordan - “Leaving Trunk” - B+
